alr cw opinions on ships and characterization in fandom (not forcing you to change your opinion) because sometimes people are crybabys /gen /neg

you have absolutely no idea how much i hate lightbrush man. everytime i go to paintbrush’s tag, first thing i see is just. either lightbrush or poly lights and its beginning to get on my nerves. ESPECIALLY when they characterized as a tsundere.

first, i may clarify that i LOVE fanbrush since ive first joined the fandom (early 2022) but im kinda tired of seeing either fan, test tube or lightbulb paired with them all of the time. PLEASE let them take a breather and hang out with someone else IM BEGGING YOU. like marshmallow or apple or oj or microphone or floory ANYONE but i need some paintbrush content that isnt exclusively lightbrush or poly lights.

i adore paintbrush with all of my heart, i adore their character, i love their design although its simple as fuck, and did i mention i absolutely love their character. their character development is something that i think its well written; how they evolve from raging and need of lead individual to someone passionate and creative object without absolutely removing the last ones mentioned. and also their character arc with marsh and how they started finding out that their need of order and focus on the show itself started to drive them away from people they cared about (in ii 12, you can see how they go “Thats right! Im gonna paint! Dont anyone interrupt me! Im gonna do it! … this is going to be a long challenge.”

all of that and then they are just… reduced to simply either someone with no personality, an abusive and “angry-for-no-reason-person” or lightbulbs all time protector who hurts anyone who lays a finger on her.

yeah yeah give me all that yap about lightbulb missing paintbrush and viceversa shit but you can actually see paintbrush enjoying being in iii if you notice and not just the lightbulb part. they have talks with oj, silver spoon, i think candle??? (havent watched iii for while), bot, test tube, floory, cabby, etc. and they dont magically bring up lightbulb unless she is brought up, but all of the fandom think they think of lightbulb all of their time there. also knowing them i dont think they would enjoy being stuck on a dark island just to compete again when they can just go back to do their art classes, and they do ENJOY it.

now lightbulb umhh i have no opinion on her characterization besides the fandom infantilizing her please fucking stop. she still has emotions although shes coded to be a joyful fella. also notice how she doesn’t exclusively miss paintbrush vro.

NOW on the ii 17 part o kinda hated that part but ehhhhh extra points for Jazzy almost making me cry because they literally just lost the people they were close with and we got paintbrush telling everyone they should totally all kts /massive j but thanks Brian and Jazzy for such awesomesauce parts

tbh, i just wish to see more paintbrush angst that isnt only lightbrush angst, but about who they are and their interactions between marshmallow. or just anything with paintbrush that doesn’t reference lightbulb or the final 4 bright lights. paintbrush being a individual themselves and not just some stupid background character.

also fun fact paintbrush doesnt even draw because they found it fun like someone usually would but because thats expected from them

with his little whiskers.. antennas. Things. whatever you describe them; he often likes to poke toons/walls/whatever else to get a feel of it. Texture! yknow? shrimpo does have hands, yes, but i feel like the antennas would be more of a help to navigate stuff because theyre more sensitive-like (isnt that the purpose of the whiskers on a shrimp anyway..?? Idk beats me LOL)

ONE MORE THING. Shrimpo DESPISES the feeling of bandages. he already knows its mandatory to keep them on since he's already a main target for injuries, but he constantly has this feeling to rip them off right there and now. This is why he doesnt have bandages wrapped around the Gigantic gash on his Arm

Regardless if everybody else hates his guts (in which hes aware of that) he does actually try to maintain his anger. even if a few words slip out or he's still rude to others, he still tries to have a normal conversation with toons instead of constantly going "I HATE THIS." "I HATE THAT!!". Hating can be tiring sometimes!!

on a lighthearted side, and something i think is kinda funny as a shrimpo hc. He's a big hoarder. Like. He'd always keep anything he sees On Sight. Trinkets, foods, medkits or bandages. 23. Share an excerpt from your favorite scene

There are a lot of scenes and fics i had fun writing, but how about this one? From VROS - Chapter 8: Sunlight

For a moment, they just stand there, silent tears travelling down Jonathan’s cheeks, as Dracula looks, almost longingly, into the distance, soaking in the last traces of the sun-warmed summer air.

“How?” Jonathan raps quietly, refusing to open his blue eyes.

He can feel Dracula shrug by his side. “I suppose you could throw yourself over. If the fall doesn’t kill you, the wolves will. Or I can simply snap your neck,” he lists matter-of-factly, as if they were talking about the weather.

The words feel like ice in his blood, so incredibly cold and nothing like the warmth of the sun he probably will never feel again on his skin. “And why?” Jonathan rasps dryly.

“Ah,” Dracula tilts his head to the side, nodding. “In order to become a proper un-dead, you have to die first, my dear Jonathan, before coming back. That is kinda the whole deal.”

Jonathan shivers again. The night is approaching quickly in the Transylvanian mountains, temperatures rapidly dropping now. “Do I have any choice?”

Dracula turns to him, looking down at his pitiful form. “Do you want me to decide, then?” he retorts.

Not quite what Jonathan was asking for or had in mind. But he just takes a deep breath, dragging in some air into his slowly failing lungs and body, which is shutting down quickly. Blood loss, fatigue and God knows what else Dracula has infected him with have taken quite a toll on him. And he can feel it, deep in his gut. It is time to go.

“If I do… come back… what will I be?” he asks quietly, his eyes slowly raising to meet the other man’s.

He can see the warmth in them, full and deep, and beautiful, and that realization frightens him. “Perfect,” Dracula breathes. “Perfect, and mine.”

9. What fic meant the most to you to write?

It has to be TGN, despite of the 4 month hiatus i took this year. Maybe because it the one fic that is closest to the DS version of my beloved characters. Something about the narrative of Jonathan having stayed with his abuser for so long, only to realize in the end that it has been all for nothing is really important to me. Cannot wait to finish it with a climax in which he finally snaps and lets all his hurt, anger, pain show. This year has been a rough one for me as well and i have found myself sadly falling back into some rather bad mental spaces i thought i had overcome by now. Some aspects of Jonathan's struggles in that fic ring extremely close to me and feel really intimate to write, but also strangely cathartic. The fic has evolved from just a weird crossover, to a work that truly means a lot to me.

6. What ship(s) captured your heart?

Always Harkula. They are it for me. Some new ships i have written about were Jeanbriel from Empire of the Vampire and i also think i might write more Dracfield in next year. Always going back to my vamp masters x human-ish pets ;)

I like to think that Maul does this anyways, as if it’s a very specific way of him showing affection. It’s quite similar to the way he presses his head beneath your chin, so it’s natural for him. And when you initiate it, it seems to take on a whole new meaning. It’s like he can... feel you, as if your minds and your hearts become one in those crucial moments, as if you’re pulling him to you and seeing nothing else. To him, this is more intimate than anything else, where he can simply allow himself to fall into the bond you share.

Savage loves it, because this is a type of close connection he hasn’t had before. Oftentimes, when he’s this close to someone, it’s during combat, one trying to overpower the other, a fight for dominance, and more likely than not, for their lives. But this is no competition. It’s just you, keeping him with you, showing no fear for what he is. There is no adversary, no threat. You stand connected as equals this way, the mere act of being together as crucial as the very air you breathe. It’s your silent promise to always be by his side, to never fear him, to protect him in every way you know how. He places his trust in you, and you in him.

And Feral likes it, because there’s a certain sweetness associated with it that he always appreciates. He can accept your touch in that moment, allowing you to stay right in front of him, hearing you breathe, feeling you just barely move.
