Villian Heights (part 4)

(reading Wuthering Heights for the first time and  trying to figure out the deal with this book with some assumptions from  previous summaries of the story)

some thoughts first: this story seems to be largely about people going insane from a traumatic childhood and circumstance, and a lot of strong emotion that they never managed to find a healthy outlet for)

Bronte’s writing is starting to remind me of Stephen King - in the way he takes the time in IT to describes, sometimes only in a few sentences, why a character has become the way they are - like I said, Bronte is very psychological in her writing

she’s also using a lot - a lot - of words when Heathcliff and Cathy speak/express their feelings, but it kinda makes sense as they just try to put into words what is going on inside of them - it’s a lot, so they need a lot of words

Cathy going crazy is kind of wow - I’m sure she’s showing a certain pattern of symptoms, but I can’t tell of what

kinda sad that she seems to feel so trapped - one thing I noticed, does she ever really leave Thrusscross Grange? Like, did her and Edgar go to London, other cities, take a holiday? They have guests, but so far, it seems they stay at home mostly ... Isabella and Edgar are certainly indoor people, but she isn’t - she’s trapped in that estate, the nearby small town, etc. - it’s smothering her, no wonder she misses Wuthering Heights

idk, but I feel like she wasn’t really given a choice looking at their lack of interests outside the house - I think Cathy could have felt a little better if she had been granted an occupation, given that she used to love horseriding, and different kinds of sports (I think even competition) weren’t off limits for women at that time from what I could research

also, she’s just kind of trapped with her mind - if she had the chance to interact with people and get into the writing and any organization for events that were available for women of the time ... is it just me or do Edgar and Isabella just hang around being rich and don’t think anything else is really interesting? No wonder she goes crazy, this is not working for her abilities (is this a meditation on that the expectations of what a woman would be satisfied with were bs? If so, I like it, Bronte)

How does that play into a sapient beings esteem? She would have been raised to believe she had to be perfect and yet she was never given the tools to improve herself. She probably was both mocked for her imperfection and demanded she get better??? magically????  tl:dr She’s frustrated and belittled of course she’d lash out. 

Impression now: Complicated. She fundamentally, even as Rose, didn’t understand organic life and it’s complexities but fuck, at least she tried. Without her and the war Earth would be dead. She fucked up but as Pink, she tried. Tried and failed.

Idea for a story: Human AU were Pink (Rose can be her twin sister btw) was afraid of being a Mom so she leaves Steven with Greg, then she comes back years later to learn who her son has become and debates if she should insert herself into his life after the way she left. 

Unpopular opinion: I like her design. With the way they made her so different than the other Diamonds it makes sense that her mural would look like that and since they probably didn’t want her known as the ‘wrong’ diamond they wouldn’t use too much of her actual visage. It was a great lesson for the fandom in learning to chill the fuck out with jumping to conclusions based on limited information.  

Favorite relationship: Pinks relationship with Rose. Okay so that sounds weird but I love that Pink’s liberation and idea of freedom is Rose, Rose is everything she wanted to be and I just think that’s neat.

First impression: IM LOVE HER???? She’s this big, soft, feminine warrior that believed in the beauty of life in all it’s weird and varied ways, from the tiniest thing like a pretty bug to the largest of animals and trees.

It was so strange to her to be IN love, to be IN those kinds of situations, that she became a very different version of herself.

So yes, I think it’s entirely possible that too much Fi-ing in treading romantic waters without knowing what they want from a partner could cause a grip experience in an EXTJ, where they’re all (rather stinted) emotion and not a lot of logic, for which they may kick themselves later.

By contrast, since feelers deal with their emotions 24/7, unless they loop or grip or become unable to deal with or refuse to process them properly, they come to semi-know themselves and what they want. But there’s a catch there – it seems to be different between high Fi and high Fe types. Some high feelers know when they’re in love, and if it’s what they want, and chase it. (This is especially common in healthy Fi-doms, who simply understand their own levels of attraction and find romance a natural part of their lives.) But some Fe’s are so focused on what the external environment wants, and what society says is all right, that they may be unaware of their emotions and/or repressing of their true desires in order to ‘be’ what the environment wants them to be.

I’ll use an example from Stranger Things. Nancy is hard for me to type, because in a lot of ways, especially in the first season, she’s able to just shut down what she feels about other people’s opinions and take decisive action in very Te-oriented ways; but she also, especially in season two with Jonathan, has a lot of potential Fe-dom flags. The Dangerous Woman Tour Manila leg happened on August 21, 2017, a holiday here in the Philippines. Since there is no work, I brought my sister with me. The meeting place for the Smart Music Live experience was in Greenbelt but since we brought our car, we had to secure a parking space around MOA Arena first and just commute to Greenbelt. We arrived in MOA really early so the event area was still peaceful, no fans around the arena yet. I saw the Smart balloon outside the arena, I just have to take a photo with it!

It’s Ariana Grande’s concert so most fans are wearing cat or bunny headbands, or are in space buns, or are in the signature ariana high pony hairstyle (ofc it’s not required haha)

We arrived early in the meeting place, most winners are already there. Everyone’s obviously excited! My co-winners and I are already friends because we made a twitter group chat before the event.

The exclusive Smart Music Live party bus arrived not long after. You can already tell it’s a luxury bus from the outside, and even more when you’ve seen the inside. It’s very spacious, there are sockets both sides in every row, there’s wifi (yay) and someone is on standy if ever you need something. Drinks were also free, just ask. We’re just going to Rustan’s for lunch and for an activity so it’s just a short ride. Here’s the bus:

Ariana loves to bake so our activity is to decorate cupcakes! Well, you might think we should bake but we will be late for the concert if we bake! It took us a long time to just decorate cupcakes, what more if we baked! I thought it was easy to decorate cupcakes, kids love to do it, but nooooo they’re more complicated. We need to transfor the cupcakes to unicorns. I had so much fun, I showed my competitive side but my cupcake looked like a cat, instead of a unicorn...

Ariana loves Starbucks and cocoa puffs (cocoa puffs make Ariana crazy!) thus we had them while on the lounge! I know we just ate, and now we’re having more snacks. 

It was so hard to get decent photos because the bus was moving and we’re on the back part of the bus.

In the lounge, we also had a karaoke session! Uhm, more like a singing bee one! Everyone was having a good time and was singing along, even on the high notes! Here we are trying to squeeze ourselves for a picture:

It’s now a goodbye to the Smart Ariana Grande party bus!

My sister and I brought lots of things. For Ariana’s concert, the organizers are very strict. You can only bring a small, transparent bag inside. If you have a bag, you have to surrender it to the baggage area and they will give you a ziplock bag where you can put your important belongings. For our case, we left everything in our car and just brought a transparent bag (the pink thing I was holding, it’s transparent). We part ways with our friends for a while.

Since it’s really very strict, it took us almost an hour to enter the venue. The security needs to make sure everything’s safe so they really check every concert goer’s stuff thoroughly. When we were in, we met our friends near the Smart Booth. We still have to take official photos and they also gave us some goodies!

Yay, finally inside! There were lots of fans trying to take a photo here so I need to be fast.

The Smart crew weren’t able to take their cameras with them so they just used phones for all the documentation.

I wasn’t able to buy merch because the lines (both floors) were really really long already. I wanted the dangerous woman cap and the zero effs sweatshirt. Maybe I’ll just get them online.

We were then given the signal that we can go inside already, so we did! Most of the people are still outside the main arena, but once the dj played his set, everyone rushed inside.

I brought my Smart Bro Pocket Wifi with me, so I’m connected the whole time, from the Smart Music Live party bus to the Dangerous Woman Tour concert, (even after).

Even though I wasn;t able to buy any merch, I am one happy Arianator because I have a Greedy Money!

For the main concert, I don’t really have much photos. It was an awesome and surreal concert experience. Ariana performed 20+ songs, it’s really really worth it! I’m also proud of the Manila crowd! The Smart crew also recorded us having a good time during the concert. If you would want to see some videos I took, you can find it here in my instagram. After the concert, most pink balloons and greedy money dropped in the VIP section only though.

That’s it! That’s the #SmartArianaGrande and #SmartMusicLive experience. Everything’s so surreal. I’m really lucky to have experienced this. Whenever I think about this day, I still smile and feel so happy and I want to relieve it! Thank you Smart for this incredible experience! It’s really an experience like no other!
