IT IS NOT BONUS EPISODES FOR A DIFFERENT SHOW
There are some of us in the Doctor Odyssey fandom who DO NOT WATCH the firefighter show, and dragging your fandom drama into OUR tags is rude. It is poor fandom behavior. Do not tag negativity, and especially do not tag negativity FROM A DIFFERENT FANDOM. There is no reason to poison the well with bad vibes from a completely different community. DO BETTER.
This fandom is too small to start blocking people over petty bullshit. If everyone sequesters themselves into different silos based on pre-conceived biases from a completely different fandom, there will not be enough of a community to keep the fandom alive. No fandom should be this factious or angry after six episodes.

• REBLOG KARMA. PLEASE, REBLOG MEMES, MUSINGS PSAS AND ETC FROM THE SOURCE!!! Unless the source is unavailable. It kinda clogs my notifications and it’s also a bit disappointing to see a notification expecting a reply to see you just reblogged a meme/psa from me. I’m not a meme source. If you intend to reblog a meme from me, please have the courtesy to send one in.
• PERSONALS. You are free to follow me as long as you respect my rules, however, I’ll only follow back RP Blogs to keep my dash clean and easier to deal with. DON’T REBLOG MY THREADS! This can be very annoying for me and my rp partners, so if you like a thread, just click the like button, but don’t reblog it! You are also free to interact with my character by sending asks! I am open to canon and original characters - I am willing to give everyone a chance, and will only deny a thread idea if there are personal issues between myself and the writer, if our writing styles do not match at all, or if I find that I have taken on too much.
I generally do not believe in ship exclusivity. There may be some ships that I don't expect and that come about due to chemistry with a particular mun's portrayal and won't work outside of certain contexts, but that's the extent - if I find a Jesse or Matthew for my Lucie, I'm not going to refuse to write with another Jesse or Matthew. (Actually, the more the merrier, in my opinion...)
As much as it feels nice to receive asks from posted memes, I don't mind if you reblog and don't send me something from it.

Personals can follow and reblog my posts, but please don't reblog my threads. Likes are okay, because that gives the warm and fuzzies, but please no reblogs of threads.
I generally don't format my posts outside of paragraphs and some italics for emphasis, but if you and I are writing a thread and it'll make it easier for you, please let me know what I can do to accommodate.
I personally prefer not to use icons, but it doesn't bother me if your replies have them - so long as you don't require me to do it, we're all Gucci.
I don't unfollow for inactivity. I generally unfollow if I've realised we don't really mesh, if I realised that I followed by accident, or if there is a personal issue between them and myself.

Hi, my name is Nacho, I am currently a mechanical engineering student in Kansas and I have an idea that could benefit Tumblr and their new owners Automattic.
A little about me, I have been on Tumblr since around 2010 and have seen this site change in a variety of ways. On top of being a current student in mechanical engineering I also have worked in industrial settings doing NDI requiring that I have a very high attention to detail. As well as a sense for process improvement and error reduction.
I tell you this about myself because I want to gain the trust of the Tumblr community, and show that I care about the state of this site as well as its users. I honestly believe if Tumblr mobilizes itself as it has in the past, we could be a force for good and positive change on the (hell) site. As well as stopping the steady decline of the site by people that seem to not want to listen to the community.
I am NOT associated with Tumblr or Automattic in anyway other than being a Tumblr user, I am hoping to gain enough momentum and attention that I would be able to get the attention of @photomatt to work together and develop Tumblr into what it should have always been. I am asking the community to please let me know what all you think are the major issues on this site and app. I have tried to compile to the best of my ability a short list of what I believe are the foundational issues that, if addressed, would allow tumblr to flourish and be a major player on the web.
As someone who has been on the internet for a very long time, I have seen the same trends over and over kill sites like Tumblr. While Tumblr has transformed in a variety of ways the core of the site is still the same. I say all this to prove that I do care about the future of this site and what happens to it, and I fear that Automattic will eventually end up using Tumblr to test out a variety of feature sets for other sites and apps eventually dumping it off again on the highest bidder.
Yahoo and Verizon had issues in marketing to this sites users, as well as its own internal strife with the actual @staff at tumblr offices. I think that is because the changing hands and people in power that have influence over this site are either dethatched from the way Tumblr works as a whole, or have not been listening closely to the inhabitants of the site, possibly both.
First, I wanted to ask the question, what Tumblr isn’t, I do not think that Tumblr is a social media platform in the traditional sense like the big players (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.)
I think this might be obvious to some but not all, but Tumblr is a midpoint between social media, content creation, and brand development. With its ability to customize different aspects of a blog to meet hyper specific goals of the brand or user. Tumblr can be a site that makes it possible to cater to the niche or eclectic styles of individual users. As well as the potential for reaching large swaths of audiences with its spiderweb like user interactions.
Tumblr, in essence, is a sort of cross roads on the internet that lends itself to a wide variety of facets of what people want from the internet. Tumblr is also the breeding ground for a lot of creativity and internet culture that gets constantly reposted all over the web. I think this sets Tumblr to be a prime piece of online real estate, in the sense that the site and its users can quickly and effectively propagate a single piece of media with a high content value.
Second, I wanted to look at all the most common issues that plague the site and that have continued to persist over the years. Some of these issues being things like, stability, updates changing entire blog formatting, general quality of life issues like organization and linking to outside accounts, advertisements on the site, and overall clarity in some fundamental ways.
The core issues of what is causing this site to be slowly killed off at the root is multifaceted and can be seen by anyone who has been here long enough, however I think that there is still a chance to make significant improvements to Tumblr as a whole and build the site and app back up from the base itself. I believe if we were able to reestablish a lot of the base expectations that we have come to know from other apps, along with the uniqueness of Tumblr as a whole we would see a steady increase in users again. As well as a fundamental change in the way the Tumblr experience is felt.
I have summarized what I think are the core issues on both the app and the site its self below. This is not an exhaustive list of issues my goal was to understand what makes Tumblr fundamentally work and in what ways we could build a better foundation to highlight the sites strengths, while mitigating its weaknesses.
First – The App
Tumblrs app has been awful for a very long time, with a ton of stability issues and general functionality problems. Personally I almost exclusively use Tumblr through the app and had always wanted to see more quality of life changes done in the way of how other apps function. The Tumblr app feels more like it just works and gets the job done, but not always.
A few other things being what I think are compression issues with the app, and how things posted on desktop don’t look as good on the app. As well as the tagging system not working as intended all the time, with the tags disappearing for each reblog.
Second – Search Feature
The search function on Tumblr is lacking a lot of functionality that I think is pretty standard on other sites, as well as being able to search on a blog for specific posts or even just filtering by liked posts. I think this is one of the main points of contention with Tumblr on both the app and the site, having a search function that can’t return specific results with the ability to modify or filter them is a very baseline thing to have on any site or app.
Third – Bots
This is probably one of the worst issues on Tumblr that does in fact effect everybody, while I personally do not know much about bots and how they work all the way through. However, I do think that if Tumblr were to enable a sort of system that allows users to report bots and suspicious activity would help in mitigating this widespread issue. Bot spam and phishing, is a widespread issue that affects every site on the internet. However, I think if they allowed the site to be self-reporting with a system in place that rewards users who give accurate reports of bots and phishing by moving their reports to the top, while penalizing users who maliciously report users. I know that this might not be a perfect system, but I think allowing a site and its users to self-report and rewarding reporting in good faith would take a large portion of the weight off of Tumblr staff as a whole.
Fourth – Interconnectivity
Here what I mean by interconnectivity, is that Tumblr does not seem to want to play well with other apps or even its own internal links. One of the key things to bringing up the appeal of Tumblr would be to allow for users to be able to link multiple accounts on Tumblr and have their content be posted to all other media platforms as well. The ability to post from a single platform onto several other platforms at once would be a key in continuing the idea of Tumblr being a cross roads as well as an attractive feature for content creators across the internet.
This is a difficult thing to implement given that companies want you to use their app over someone else’s, but if Tumblr did push for a sort of “cross play” I believe it could be standardized for everyone across the web.
So, if youve read this far I greatly appreciate it. What I am asking for right now is for you to follow me, and reblog so I can build up momentum and hopefully bring some long needed TLC to tumblr that it has been missing.

Follow my blog as I continue to try and make a way for tumblr to keep its unique brand of weird. I will be adding a survey to my blog soon that will allow me to compile all the most common issues that the community feels are effecting them. This is just the first step in what I am sure will be a long and winding road to a better tumblr, so thank you in advance.

My work is focused mainly around My Little Pony, and minimalistic styles, because that's what inspired me to start my artistic career ♡. 🎨 Which piece of yours is your favourite so far? I'm very fond of my current Patreon-exclusive prints. My idea was to combine ponies with one of my favourite mobile games; Deemo ♡. There are so many ponies and so many songs, the possibilities are endless!

🎨 We've noticed that your instagram primarily consists of MLP or Pokemon themed pieces. What elements of those series inspire your illustrations? I only recently started drawing Pokémon 😅 The majority of it on Instagram is probably due to 2016 Inktober, as I chose to go with a Pokémon theme. Both series appeal to me because of the colourful designs and feeling behind the shows. I want my art to be cute and fun; I'm not one for overly detailed pieces~
🎨 How did you come up with the creative idea for your Jam Jar Candles? What series/scents are you going to be bringing to Summerfest? Ahaha, actually! My boyfriend and I were just watching SU one night, and he jokingly sang the theme as “We… are the Crystal JAAAMS”, and the idea stuck 😅. I'll definitely be bringing the Jam Buds to Summerfest, and I hope to have Jasper and Rose to add to the bunch ♡.

Streaming to subscriptions: Video games enter new frontiers
NEW YORK — The video game industry is entering new frontiers.
In the past, you plunked down $60 at GameStop for a copy of Grand Theft Auto or Madden NFL and played it out — after which you could trade it in or let it gather dust.
Now, you’ll increasingly have the choice of subscribing to games, playing for free or possibly just streaming them over the internet to your phone or TV.
Welcome to a new world of experimentation in an industry that hasn’t been seriously shaken up since Nintendo launched its home gaming console in the U.S. in 1986 or when mobile gaming surged in popularity a decade ago.
“We’re in an environment where people want content and media when they want it, how they want it,” CFRA analyst Scott Kessler said. “You can play a great video game with a console or on a computer or with a mobile device and you might not have to pay anything. That’s a dramatic departure from even a few years ago.”
Of course, people will still buy and use traditional video games and consoles for years to come. But as games have become more accessible online and on mobile, it is becoming harder to convince people to spend a chunk of money upfront, said Joost van Dreunen, co-founder of research company SuperData.
Game retailer GameStop’s shares fell Wednesday, a day after it projected a revenue drop of 5% to 10% in 2019. And major video game publishers Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard have announced layoffs.
Responding to changing consumer behaviour, video game makers and new entrants like Google are offering new ways to play.
GAME STREAMING
Big players are entering the arena: Google announced Stadia , a console-free game streaming service due out this year. The platform will store a game-playing session in the cloud and let players jump across phones, laptops and browsers with Google’s software.
Google didn’t say how much its new service will cost, whether it will offer subscriptions or other options, or what games will be available at launch –all key elements to the success of a new video-game platform. Google will be hoping to avoid the fate of OnLive, which debuted in 2010 and streamed high-end video games over the internet. The service had promise, but failed to garner a big enough user base. It shuttered in 2015.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Apple announced a subscription service that some are calling the “Netflix of Games .”
Apple Arcade subscribers will get to play more than 100 games, curated by Apple and exclusive to the service. Games can be downloaded and played offline — on the Apple-made iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. Notably, Apple says players won’t have to pay for virtual weapons and other extras — something free mobile games typically charge for. The company didn’t say how much Arcade will cost when it launches this fall.
FREE-TO-PLAY GAMES
And then there is Fortnite, a free-to-play game that has become a massive hit with its “battle royal” mode winning over millions of fans. In this mode, 100 players battle one another for weapons and armour until only one player is left. Created by Epic Games, which is backed by Chinese mobile behemoth Tencent, a key aspect of the game is being able to play it on anything from your phone to a decked-out gaming PC.
“I like the interactiveness and being able to play with your friends,” said Patrick Penfield, a Syracuse University student. “There are infinite possibilities.”
Free-to-play games such as Fortnite make money from in-app purchases. In Fortnite, for instance, players use real-world money to buy for their characters outfits, gear or “emotes” — brief dances that have become a cultural phenomenon performed on playgrounds, in social media posts and in the scoring celebrations of professional athletes.
Penfield loves that Fortnite is free and says he can’t see himself spending $60 again for a game upfront. He estimates he spends about $10 a month on in-game purchases — meaning he’s spending twice as much in just one year.
The trend started a few years ago with Candy Crush and other mobile games that appealed to casual gamers looking to pass the time on a subway or doctor’s waiting room. The success of Fortnite shows that this model works with more sophisticated styles of games, too. Despite being free to play, it raked in an estimated $2.4 billion in 2018, according to SuperData.
And there are many signs Fortnite isn’t a one-hit wonder. Electronic Arts’ Apex Legends got 50 million players worldwide in its first four weeks. While it doesn’t have a mobile component — yet — its style of game play and revenue model are similar to Fortnite. Meanwhile, Activision Blizzard is working with Tencent on a mobile version of its popular Call of Duty first-person shooter franchise.
But it’s a gamble if users don’t spend enough money in the game itself.
“Even though we can start to see the shape of things to come, it will take a while before they come into focus,” van Dreunen said.

The Beginner's Guide to Instagram
Even if you don't use Instagram, we're guessing you've encountered an Instagram image somewhere on the web — even if you didn't realize it. Instagram's calling card is the photo filter, a digital layer that, when added to a standard photo, gives it the appearance of professional editing. Some filters enhance the colors in a photo, while other dull the light to a soft glow for an aged, vintage appearance. But while Instagram's filters revolutionized mobile photo editing, they're only a portion of the appeal. The mobile app boasts over 50 million users, despite only living in iOS and Android devices. Instagram launched on Android just this year — it quickly earned 5 million downloads in six days. Its success caught the eye of the most valuable social network in the world. Facebook acquired Instagram in April for $1 billion. Although we've only just begun to witness Facebook's plans for the photo sharing app, the social giant recently launched its own filter-friendly photo app, dubbed Facebook Camera. Instagram has surely come a long way, business-wise, since co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger introduced the app in 2010. But on the whole, the app has remained simple, straightforward and social since its inception. We're here to share the Instagram basics, whether you're new to the network or need some additional tips. Better hurry, though — Instagram has undergone such changes in the past few months, who knows what else is in store. We'd love to learn about your Instagram experiences. How do you use the app? 1. Register / Setup
Instagram has always been an almost exclusively mobile platform. Therefore, you must download the iPhone or Android app to your device in order to register an Instagram account. Instagram accounts are public by default, but you may elect to create a private account. In that case, only users who you approve may follow you and view your photos. Head to your profile tab and scroll down to “Privacy.” There, you may select to make photos private. Once registered, change your profile picture and edit your profile information, which includes a brief 150-character bio and a website. You may also edit profile information here.
2. Notifications
Since Instagram doesn’t have a web-hosted feed of photos, you’ll be doing most of your browsing on mobile. For that reason, you may choose to enrich your mobile experience by setting up push notifications. Depending on your level of comfort, enable the following push notifications:
When a user likes or comments on one of your photos.
When a user @mentions you in a comment.
When your photo is posted to the Popular page.
When you are tagged in a photo
To control the notifications on your device, click on the Settings wheel while viewing your profile. Scroll down and select Push Notification Settings. You can also edit your Share Settings from the options panel. To change the way you receive notifications from Instagram, exit the app and access the Settings location. From there, find Instagram in the Notification Center and configure your app preferences. If you choose not to enable external notifications, Instagram will still keep you apprised of your account activity in-app. New user and comment notifications appear in the News section of the app (see above-left), which you can access via the navigation panel — the icon looks like a speech bubble with a heart in it.
3. Connect to Social
Again, because Instagram is a relatively isolated social app that lives inherently on mobile, it’s important to connect social accounts to get the most out of the experience. You may choose to link Instagram to your Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare, Tumblr, Flickr, VK, Mixi and Weibo accounts (the latter two apply only to iPhone users in Japan and China, respectively). To connect social accounts, head to the Profile Tab > Edit Sharing Settings, then choose the network you wish to connect. Each time you upload a photo to Instagram, you’ll have the option to share to each of the social networks you’ve enabled, or to none. If you choose to share to no social networks, the photo will post only to Instagram, viewable only by those users who follow you on the app. (More on social sharing later.) Here are some examples of how Instagram has affected, and in some cases, revolutionized social media:
4. Add a Photo
The bread and butter of Instagram is, obviously, sharing photos. Before you explore much else, I suggest you test it out. Click the blue camera button in the center of your Instagram navigation panel. By default, Instagram activates your device’s camera, so you may either choose to snap a picture then and there, or choose a picture already saved to your phone. If you choose the latter, click the double-square button on the lower-left of the screen. If you choose a photo from your camera roll, keep in mind that Instagram sizes photos to perfect squares. Therefore, if you select a photo that was originally taken horizontally (landscape), you’ll have to crop some portions of the image — either that, or live with the default black border.
5. Filters / Borders
Once you’ve either taken or selected a photo, a set of three icons appears beneath the image. These are the 17 famous Instagram filters which add different pre-determined layers to your photos, and give the effect that you've altered or professionally edited them. Many filters add "vintage" effects, which have certainly pleased many a hipster. Scroll through the filters and experiment with the best one for that particular image. You’ll soon find that certain filters work well with specific types of photos, whether outdoor panoramas, personal portraits, odd perspectives, intense colors, etc. Each filter also has its own associated border. For instance, the Earlybird filter adds rounded edges to your photo, and Kelvin adds a rough, sandpapery frame. You may, however, choose to forego borders altogether by tapping Additional info the square "frame" on the upper-left of the edit screen.
