Yo what the fuck king dedede and meta knight????????? Why????? Do they even have personalities? How can you make romantic art of them?? Meta knight is literally just a little blob??? I'm the same age as you 26 is too old for this
Thanks for the input!
I don’t believe that age should be a deciding factor on whether someone enjoys making or consuming content- as long as the content is not harmful to themselves or harming others. In my experience it’s not fun or productive to put those limits on oneself.
Also, the Kirby series is 30 years old and there are fans of all ages. Kirby is for anyone.
I think part of the fun of Kirby is that there’s lots of room for people to explore and interpret the characters, personalities, lore, world-building, etc. There’s as many interpretations of the Kirby world as there are stars in the sky! Some people have even made entire worlds of their own based on the series and I think that’s beautiful and lovely!
I will never ever force anyone to agree with all of my interpretations, headcanons, or shipping opinions. I don’t think anyone should. The Kirby series celebrates love, friendship, bonds with others, forgiveness, finding your family, and so much more. Including accepting and loving others for their similarities and differences to you.
I’m just happy having a little corner here to share some of my work and having a few other people enjoy it with me. I want this to be a nice space for whoever wants to be here with me.
I encourage you to find that positive feeling for yourself and spend time with things you do enjoy.

DMK and Daroach friendship headcanons
Tumblr media
I headcanon these two being close buds. Heck, I'd actually even go as far as to consider them these two shadowy bozos to be best friends.
Dark Meta Knight doesn't have a lot of friends in my headcanons... he's really only friends with Kirby and the rest of wave 2, as he couldn't care less about the rest of the dream friends. But he's grown to be quite endeared to Daroach. And Daroach genuinely thinks that DMK is the coolest person in existence. These two are literally bros.
They met during Star Allies. Even when they first met, they... were already drawn to each other? Daroach was very intrigued to meet a shadier counterpart of Meta Knight, and figured that he'd go and hang around with the guy. Fortunately for him, that ended up working, as DMK ended up being drawn to the vibes and style that Daroach had, something he didn't do for most of the other star allies.
When the star allies split up into groups, these two were in the same group alongside Adeleine and Ribbon. Wave 2 as a whole was a group adventuring together during a lot of the time in Star Allies' events.
DMK and Daroach enjoyed kicking the asses of the cult's forces together. Daroach was generous enough to give elemental powers to DMK's sword on many occasions, beating up enemies in new ways.
They both also protected Adeleine and Ribbon from the cult's forces.
The wave 2 quartet bonded more closely after Star Allies, as they had a fun road-trip together (wave 1 also had a fun road-trip together, as did wave 3). Adeleine and Ribbon were already besties before Star Allies, but the road-trip made Daroach and DMK become besties.
Post-SA, Daroach and DMK visit each other regularly. DMK has set up a dimensional mirror somewhere in Sacred Square that Daroach uses to get to the mirror world to visit him. The first few times DMK attempted to vacation on Popstar, Daroach was the guy that helped show him around on the planet, and the squeaks' hideout is the place that DMK resorts to whenever he sleeps in Popstar on vacations.
The entire squeak squad likes DMK. They think he's the most badass dude ever. They ask him to show off by destroying random things.
What friendly activities do DMK and Daroach to together? Many things, in fact. Daroach has dragged DMK out of his comfort zone to do fun stuff. The things they do together include board games, truth-or-dare games, drinking beer, and some mischief during nighttime.
When Daroach visits the mirror world, DMK joins him in robberies in random places there. It's just some stupid fun they have together.
Daroach knows that DMK is still devoted to Dark Mind, but that doesn't really bother him all that much. He's able to keep DMK in check from going too far in nefarious plans with Dark Mind, even.
Overall, these are shadowy partners doing shadowy stuff.
Adeleine and Ribbon also come by sometimes to hang out with them.
Another big thing is that Daroach puts in effort to increase DMK's sense of humor, which was rather low at first. Daroach keeps cracking bunches of bad jokes. DMK at times can't admit but have dumb giggles to some of those terrible jokes every now and then.
They're also just about always right beside one another during star ally meetings that happen four times a year. This is partially because DMK is unpopular in the group and is prone to getting into fights with some of the other star allies. Daroach sticks right beside him to be emotional support and to help ensure that he doesn't get into fights.
The statement of DMK being rather unpopular in star ally gatherings is not an exaggeration, by the way. He fails miserably at getting along with the other ex-villains, with Daroach being the sole exception.
Dark Meta Knight does not at all get along with Marx, Taranza, Susie and Magolor. He despises all four of them. He's very prone to getting into fights with any of those four by just simply being nearby them.
And he doesn't really get along that well with the mage sisters either. He doesn't necessarily hate them as much as Marx + Wave 3 as they don't quite bother him as much, but he still doesn't care about them.
This means that overall, DMK has a rather poor track record in how he interacts with most of the other ex-villain dream friends. But Daroach is the pure exception to that. DMK and Daroach are buddies.
Daroach knows and understands that certain people do not like DMK, but that doesn't deter him. He himself thinks that the guy is super cool regardless, and he's not trying to get everyone to like the guy. He understands that DMK has moral issues, but he still sees the good in him and lets him know that he's appreciated. He believes in him.
Despite DMK being rather detached, he genuinely really likes Daroach. DMK really likes his fellow wave 2ers, but Daroach can be considered his best friend. He's let his guard down around Daroach.
And so that basically sums up the friendship of these dark dudes.
Yeah. I know that I portray Dark Meta Knight to have poor relationships with certain other dream friends, but he and Daroach are genuine pals. Although it's a little funny how much they differ in personality, as Daroach is very chill and laidback while DMK is bad-tempered and brutal. But Daroach is very easily capable of putting up with assholes, in my opinion. He's got all the patience in the world.
See y'all on the next one.

About the Bandana Tails story.
He is kind of a Mix of Waddle Dee sailor and Bandana one, cause the second is really awesome and has taken part in the story more than the first.
So I simply stole him form the King DeDee in my AU 🙃.
Also King DeDee is another Sonic character that one day I may disclose, but that's a story for another day.
He and Sonic knew each other almost like the same time they do in the OG series, but they weren't as glued since Meta Sonic dark nature made him look constantly for stronger opponents which usually meant he had to leave his territory a lot and eventually leave the planet.
But when he was in his Territory, cause Fighting others constantly did cause a overpowered state (remember that he absorbs power from his defeated enemies) so he needed a rest, he passed all the time he didn't use for his own training with the kid (without noticing), and since Tails was a brilliant one, he also relied in him for some other things of the territory (he would have become his second hand almost immediately if it wasn't for certain someone I'll tell ya about later).
In the end Meta Sonic was a knight and part of that involved taking care of his people, but with Tails it was different. The Fox was in need of attention and even if for Meta Sonic was difficult to actually provide affection he tried his best until it became natural, he even managed to control himself while training with the kid and when he followed him all around the place he didn't rejected him at all, he also made sure that he was taken care properly when he was out.
And once Tails convinced him to become part of the ship, the fox became closer to him (though seeing his fearless battles caused the kid a mixed feeling of emotion and worry).
Let's said that if not for Tails, maybe Sonic wouldn't even be able to overcome the need to fight in first place. In a way, his relationship with the fox allowed him to one day develop a friendship and bond with others like he ended up doing with Kirby Amy (though it was Amy who finally manged to make him overcome and control his darkness by both defeating him and *ejem* stealing his heart).

*Slides you a blank check for the remaining ask game options* no pressure though! /gen I’m happy to give you an excuse to talk more about Peony 👍
Ohhhh boy you did it now! Wait…you guys are getting paid for this? Lol anyway! Here we go! All the unanswered Peony asks for ya!
🪐—Peony is from Planet Popstar! She is a Floralian moth-kind specifically and as such is from the sky kingdom of Floralia. She has lived on a small sky island on the outskirts of the Floralian archipelago all her life, she drifted there, carried by a gentle breeze as a little baby caterpillar and the island and its flora are all she has ever known. It is a neglected and ignored island in terms of the Floralian kingdom and the monarchy has never taken much interest in it…so far 👀👀👀
⚔️—Peony fights with her magic when she has to, so vines to hold and whip and entangle, sharp leaves and petals to cut and blow around like the leaf tornado ability Kirby gets with the leaf copy ability, and other such attacks. She can use her magic when in need, to generate a large, thick, flower petal shield, but she has no weapon per se like Meta Knight, Dedede, and BanDee.
🪽—Peony absolutely can fly, she has magical moth wings that I’m trying to make more clear in my drawings are transparent and magical in quality and she usually only summons them when she needs them to fly, otherwise they are not visible. If touched, they would, despite their transparent nature, feel soft and velvety like a moth’s wings and scatter sparkling, powdery, scales around.
🥘—Peony’s diet is a lot of fruits and honeys and nectars. She really loves bread with honey, it’s a huge comfort for her, and when Taranza introduces her to teas, she absolutely adores them. They are so soothing and warm she can’t get enough for a time. And when he shows her REAL pastries she falls even more in love lol If absorbed by the cook ability she’d drop a Strawberry Shortcake! 🍰
☀️—Peony is in no rush in the morning since her time for really longest time ever is her own, and so she really only manages it based on what SHE wants to do and accomplish. She takes her time waking up and getting ready, combs through her curls, and gets ready to water and tend all her plants. For breakfast she’ll usually have whatever fruits are currently growing in her garden and just go.
🎶—Peony cannot play any instruments, surrounded by plants it’s not something they would be able to really teach her. I do like to think Taranza teaches her piano at some point because that’s just very sweet to me 🥺. She CAN naturally sing pretty well though! This isn’t part of the ask but my headcanon voice for her is Kira from The Dark Crystal so if you’ve ever seen that film, that’s how she sounds and sings. I feel like if she had a battle theme it would probably sound somewhat similar to the instrumental bits of Evanescence’s Imaginary, good song for her in general, same with October by them too. ALSO Thursday by Asobi Seksu, specifically the Olympic Studios version is a song I HEAVILY listen to when drawing or writing for her so if interested in personality of her character and whatnot through music check that song out specifically. I actually have a whole playlist for her on my blog somewhere, it’s a lot of music I use to think up stuff for her!
💌—Despite the trauma of her first relationship and friendship being an entirely fake ruse by Dark Matter to gain her trust in order to possess her, Peony is STILL a very friendly person who wants to form friendships and a loving bond with others and she can’t help but put herself out there and try to make new friends when she encounters new people. She is very friendly, affectionate, and extroverted, and her not understanding social cues and graces, is pretty touchy-feely, huggy until told not to be then she listens immediately. The more ingratiated with others she becomes, the more this behavior changes and fades except around those who like and appreciate such things. So she is a social butterfly, or rather a social moth lol she loves the company of others, and being alone for so long, it’s something she craves above everything else.
⚙️—She has little to no knowledge of the ancients, though what she learns does interest her and makes her curious to an extent, it’s not really a fixation of hers. She has no connections to them either.
🍨—For Peony the mech would be one of the jet type designs for the flying sections, all pink and yellow with floral shaped engine fans and wings shaped and colored like her own. It would shoot seed pod looking missiles!
🪞—Peony does have a mirror counterpart, I’ve been meaning to draw her lately. Her color palette is more muted and dull yellow and grey instead of pink on her dress, her skin pale pink and her hair very dusty pink. Her bangs look sort of like the Pokemon Hattena’s in that they’re over grown and curl over her eyes, covering them up. Her wings are black and gold. She is lonely, apathetic, cold, and distant from her social neglect. She does not care for others like Peony does and in fact, does not care much for herself anymore either. Whatever mirror world equivalent to Peony’s Dark Matter possession was visited upon Shadow Peony effected her far more deeply and changed her far more fundamentally. I got asked a couple of times if like Peony is with Taranza, is Shadow Peony seeing Dark Taranza and I haven’t fully decided but if she were the relationship would be very unhealthy. Shadow Peony is apathetic but very codependent in a very unhealthy way. She would latch onto even false affection even knowing it was false and Dark Taranza being the embodiment of Taranza’s grief over Sectonia’s death given form would never be able to truly love her back, but certainly would see a willing puppet he could use to attempt bring Sectonia back to life, or drown Taranza in his grief. I don’t think Peony would at all get along with Shadow Peony and would be very disturbed by her, but would also feel a lot of pity and sorrow for her, recognizing her for what she is, a reflection of her loneliness and trauma.
♟️—Unfortunately for Peony, she does get possessed easily and has been possessed before (it is part of her backstory which is pinned on my page). I think she DOES train herself with Taranza’s help as he is able to possess others and understands how it works, to build up a resistance to possession as it is something she fears happening to her again greatly.
🦁—Peony is already sort of an animal person, if she were a normal animal in our world she’d be a rosy maple moth.
🕰️—I will actually have to draw this VERY soon as it’s been heavily on my mind lol but her Dream Gears version would have a big, puffy dress with arches pinned up by flowers, one of those fancy, Victorian wide-brimmed hats decorated with flowers that you tie under your chin to keep on, and more lacy looking gloves. I’ll really have to draw it to give the full picture tbh but it’s in my brain lol. She would be a botanist of course.
🛡️—Peony would pick beam mage for sure, which I also should draw lol
🦋—Peony fears death about as much as the average person and doesn’t often dwell on her own mortality unless it becomes pressing in the moment. This fusion with the Morpho butterfly I really can’t much describe and will likely have to draw. Her eyes would be white voids instead of pink though and the Morpho sword would look more like her antennae than its typical orange look.
🍒—Out of all the Dream Friends she easily gets along with Taranza the most. She is in love with him, and adores him so much. But other than him, she gets along with the main four especially well, and especially Kirby considering he saved her life. She loves how happy and kyoot and squishy he is and he always likes her hugs. Dream friends she doesn’t really get along with are Dark Meta Knight for obvious evil mirror reasons and Susie for a time because her personality is more cold and corporate than Peony can easily adjust to.
And hey WOW that’s all of them! It was so much fun! Lol I’ll have do this again if another one pops up! Or try to make one of my own 👀👀
Thank you for everyone who participated!! This was so much fun fr

you're so right for this!! and honestly I can't help myself from adding that in the Kirby Fighters 2 light novel (which has been translated by one @/deafeninggardenerpanda that you can find here) there's even more emphasis on how their bond has grown! the explanation of how the Buddy Fighters Tower gets its power is that a shooting star fell and filled the area with power (that also made peach trees grow nearby) and King Dedede finds the Masks of Dark Bonds in the crater the star left that he then hides in his robe for the majority of the novel. he orders the building of the tower, intending to be the final boss himself until Meta Knight shows up and proposes the idea of them fighting together and it being a two-on-two battle tower, and from then their relationship is pretty rocky, especially because the power of the shooting star starts causing them to be more paranoid of each other, which culminates in a fight before they have to save some Waddle Dees. they end up having a little heart to heart where they connect a little bit and Dedede asks Meta why he hides his face and Meta is curt and reticent to answer, so the king drops it and decides not to pry further. there's more quarrelling when Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee get to the summit (which the novel uses as a juxtaposition to Kirby and Bandana being in sync), but when Kirby breaks Meta Knight's mask, Dedede thinks to himself that he has to protect his secret, because Meta's face being exposed is unbearable for him, so he throws one of the Masks of Dark Bonds to him. after seeing that the masks fill the wearer with dark power, he says that he won't let Meta bear the darkness alone and puts the other one on himself. after they're beaten (again) by Kirby and Bandana, the masks are said to be destroyed and the tower begins to collapse, and Meta Knight is seen carrying an unconscious King Dedede to safety, not wearing a mask, but his face isn't visible to Kirby and Bandana. then, in that scene! the credits scene! Dedede doesn't remember how he escaped the tower as he woke alone and is sadly walking till he falls over, and Meta Knight shows up, wearing his usual mask once more, and Dedede didn't know that he was safe, so he's surprised, which reveals to Meta that he didn't know Meta saved him (which Meta sounds saddened by and almost tells him that he saved him before deciding not to). Dedede apologises for giving Meta the Mask of Dark Bonds, and Meta instead says Dedede saved him, and thanks him for protecting his secret. and then Dedede gets all "I didn't do it for you!" about it (bold faced lie) and Meta just thanks him again and holds out his hand, and the embarrassed king takes it and huffs. so that's just imprinted in my brain now, not only the fact that Meta Knight came back and held his hand out to King Dedede, but that in the novel, he thanked him for what he did, offering him extremely kind words which is such a contrast to the way they were with each other before! I love their development of their friendship... 🥺
a small but actually kinda big detail i love in KF2 is how when you first beat meta knight and dedede, they don't take it well and they leave separately, in completely different directions. but each time you face them, they have new moves, new tactics, better synchronization. they're actively working on their teamwork, learning more about each other, earning more respect for each other. and each time you beat them, their resolve to get up and try again together gets stronger.
the part during the ending/credits where meta knight actually flies off and leaves dedede to walk alone is also so significant to me. i perceive this happening as if to mark the end of their partnership and meta knight is going back to his wayward ways. BUT!!!! after noticing dedede had eventually lost his strength and fell, meta knight, the beautiful bastard, comes BACK and offers his hand to help dedede up, PROVING that the bond they forged through this last-ditch effort to team up and beat kirby was genuine. meta knight had nothing to gain from helping dedede there. they weren't in battle anymore, there was nothing at stake, it's just there to show us that despite their differences, their camaraderie will go on.
i used to see a lot of people saying things like "since when did meta knight and dedede get along this well??" when this game first came out and like, they didn't. that's the point. THIS is the game, the story, that's showing us the capacity of their relationship when they put their brain cells together, and that's why i enjoyed it.

Note
Marx please my best bro who kin assigned me Marx, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Meta Knight
Jeez, calling me out like that.
Okay, Marx!
Headcanon A: Realistic
He's technically still enemies with Kirby, as he's still upset that the puffball prevented him from taking over Popstar and almost killed him. However, he helped Kirby in Kirby Star Allies because he was offered food, which is the easiest way to get him on your side. He does have a somewhat childish personality, so during the adventure he was able to bond with Kirby somewhat.
Headcanon B: while it may be unrealistic it is hilarious
He and Magolor are really close friends... allegedly. Like sometimes they'll get along just fine, but other times they act like enemies you would find on sitcoms. They often throw insults at each other stupid and unnecessary things, like one supposedly being better at taking out of the trash than the other. People immediately assume they're petty enemies, but literally the next day they act all buddy-buddy, joking around and chilling in forests or hillsides. Almost everyone is slightly concerned about this, but Mags and Marx don't really think about it that much.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
Marx was previously a jester to various royal families on Popstar. However, he was treated like crap and only seen as an absolute joke, only able to provide somewhat decent entertainment when the royal families were EXTREMELY bored. One family frequently abused him, causing him to finally snap and attack them. He ran off before he was caught, but the entire event shook him to his core. One reason he wanted to take over Popstar was to prove to these families that he was more than a dumb jester and put them under his control so they can "know what it's like to be him." He has major trust and friendship issues as a result, but here's hoping that Kirby and the gang helps heal some of his wounds.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own
In the game universe, he originally had hands like he did in the manga, but lost them while trying to achieve Marx Soul early on. It wasn't a heartbreaking situation or anything, he just got involved with some magic wielders, made them angry by doing stupid things, and lost his hands as a result. He's still salty about the whole thing, but at least he has more excuses for not doing stuff.

He who has conquered the Star
AN: SORRY I wrote this like an hour ago and I am falling asleep right now
There once was a legend on an ancient planet. A planet of beings so wise and powerful, that only they could defeat themselves. They knew of this, and in order to stay safe, they encourage friendship as much as possible. This worked, and the pitfull of many was fixed by the beings of seemingly infinite wisdom, however even the smartest of minds couldn’t count on luck.
A group of ancients began to work on the power of friendship, and how it could be used for good. This pleased many, as frenship couldn’t be harmful, right?
The group tested everything, gathering survey to inform, stalking for info, and experimenting with their own bonds for the sake of knowledge. This disturbed the other ancients and they tried to help the group. This only provided more test subjects as the group lied about their feelings and waited to see the results of this path.
In the end, they found that friendship could be physically manifested and that it could be used to create and destroy. They created tools; tools of hope, dreams, and power. Wish granting devices and cretors that created on their own. However, that group wanted to learn more, so they focused more on the components of the friendship.
Hear, Soul, Mind, and Dark were all the components of friendship. This puzzled the group, how could matter of darkness be a friend, and so they isolated the component, into a matter most dark, and with this condensation of darkness, a being was born.
The scientist freaked out and tried to destroy their creation, but all of the energy would be abused by the void. The group screamed for the other ancients, and they came rushing by as the dark being tried to consume the group. The whole planet tried to fend back the being of their own creation, the being trying to find the group that created it. All it knew was destruction; whether it be from it or them.
The void absorbed every bit of magic and technology thrown at it, and created spawns to help with the search, until four individuals joined forces to fight against a common threat. These four allies used the matters that the matter of dark was missing and forge them into sphere and used those sphers to imporsion the monster.
The battle was won, but the lives lost caused the planet to become inhabitable. The planets intrade with the ancients home collapsed without an economically infrastructure, and the group, the indirect destroyers of planets, were scattered in hiding, may they be out of shame, or out of fear.
This only got worse, as the way to create beings out of matter became known, people foolishly began created life. However, things changed.
A group of sorcerers combined all the matters of friendship, gave the creation a heroic heart, and took away all traces of darkness. This bore two beings, of yellow and pink, however that story is for another time child.
Kirby shook themselve,’ why were they having flashbacks now,? We are in ANOTHER DIMENSION...’. Their eyes darted to their side. Dark Meta Knight, Darouch, and Marx were annoying Meta Knight as Susie and Magolor observed. Rick, Kine, and Coo were talking to some of the helpers who were...helping. Gooey was floating next to Ribbon and Adeline, and the girls had nevose looks on their faces. Taranza was talking to Bandanna Dee and Dedede, most likely about government stuff- the sort of thing that made Kirby fall asleep whenever Dedede complained about it during a meal.
Speaking of meals…”Hey Adeline. Is STILL LIFE ready?”
    “Kirby...I just used it.”
“Yeah but…….that looks to be boss coming up”
The artist looked in front to see several essence surround an elegant door, and paused. “Guys! I think that’s where all these portals are coming from!” The group all stopped their conversation and examined the gold door that was coming up.
“Okay, are we all healed?” asked Bandanna Dee.
“I could go for some food right now”
    “But are you healed?”
“...Yeah..” The group did a double check, Kine and Darouch were missing some health, but the group was in great condition. With that, they entered the door to the corrupted officiant.
(0^0)
Everyone felt tired, they had just fought Hyness and the Three Mage Sisters. The helpers that helped were collapsed by the body of Hynessx leaving only the dream friends and Kirby standing(besides the aforementioned sisters). The Sisters opened a portal back to the Gamble Galaxy with four warp stars waiting for them. They restored Hyness's heart, and were on the warpstar when another portale appeared. The star allies look at Hyness in suspicion.
“Juh? Japologa, but this is not me Majaja.”
The allies looked at each other and sighed, ‘welp, I guess we’re doing this’ was a common thought among them.
“Wait, I might be able to help.” Hyness summoned the pink spheres of legend and shot them at each of the warp stars. The stars lit up and combined in a flash of light, and each crating a bigger star, a STAR SPARKLER. The allies nodded and hopped on in a four single file line, one group per four stars. As they entered into the darkness they heard a faint, “We’ll take care of anything that comes out!” from the mage sister below.
Inside the portal, the darkness faded as the group ended up on a large flat mirroring surface, as what looked to be the galaxy watched. In the center layed a morphing blob of sharp spikes of darkness. It molded itself into a giant form, larger than any being that Kirby and the gang have ever fought sans Star Dream.
The giant was TRUE VOID TERMINA, and it was a titan on darkness.
Eyes appeared all over the body and the four stars split up to take the down. Rick, Kine, Coo, Gooey, and Marx took the left, Adeline, Ribbon, Darouch, and Dark Meta Knight took the right. Taranza, Magolor, and Susie shot the eye in the back, while the main four took the eyes in the belly and on the head. The titan’s face mask flew off as Kirby’s star flew inside.
“This is gross,” mutter King Dedede.
“Said the person who was eating rotten food earlier,” quipped Meta Knight.
    “Possession!’
“Guys could we not fight each other in the middle of fighting someone else” said Bandanna Dee.
        “Fine”
    “Fine”
The Shell came off with the combined forces of an electric  hammer, sword, and sphere. The force of the shell blew the four friends out of the body of the void.
Void Termina’s body directed the newly unleashed power brought upon by the removal of the shell and wings of a familiar foe sprang from it's back. The white and red wings had eyes form on them, and the star allies knew that they had to do this phase again.
The titan's body cramped up in pain from the shots fired by the four stars, and was sent crashing into the ground with the loudest thud some of them have ever heard.
Again, the face-mask fell off, but this time the four Star Sparklers rushed into the body of the colossal. Then their eyes met with eyes most familiar.
“ Kirby...what”
“Kid...explain”
“How”
“What”
“Who”
Kirby froze. Those eyes. The eyes of the star traveler. The eyes of a created being, the eyes of puffballs. They were staring at them with the innocence of a newborn. Kirby stared at the being for what seem to be an eternity, but both knights were re yelling at them. They glanced at their friends, eyes in confusion, panic, and fear. The knights’ eyes were one of fearful recognition.
“You recognize them”, stated Kirby
“They….the eyes”
“What's going on?” asked Gooey.
Kirby laughed and said with a sign,” There were tales of the star conqueror. The being that came on a spring breeze. Living anywhere and consuming all.”
“ Why does that thing look like you demanded Susie.
“For they are me and I am them. We were made the same, but the experiences we had changed us.”
“What about us?” asked Dark Metela Knight.
“You were created by that wizard, right?  What made you think he had the right recipe, o’or winged one?”
“Kirby, stop talkin’ like that” said Dedede.
“ Apologizes, but this is a family matter an-” Kirby was cut off as a laser was shot at them. “ Oh right, final boss.”
The dream friends rushed at the boss, swinging everything they had, and used the confusion and betrayal as fuel to fan their flames.  The orb laughed and smiled as the final blow came down, knowing the fate they will receive. The orb exploded and everything went to white.
(0^0)
Kirby woke up to the burnt face of Zan Partizanne tending their wounds. “ What happened?” asked the pink puffball.
“After you left we fought a butterfly and then there was an explosion on the other side of the portal and all of you guys came out with magical injuries.”
“ If you really think about it...isnt everything a ma-”
“That's it, you aren't getting the wait on your explanation.”
“Wwwaaa-”
“ EVERYONE!!! KIRBY IS AWAKE!!”
The room flooded in with helpers and dream friends. They all had a pensive look on their faces. “Kirby...what was that?”
Ohh..ohh…
“ It's a long story,but here's the abridged version.”

Anonymous said: Do you have any platonic mentor-student relationship headcanons for kirby and meta knight??
o hell yea !!
•first kirby only sees meta when theyre gonna fight
•after a lot of fighting, bonding ( through sweets ), and getting their asses saved by each other a few times, theyre kinda chill with each other
•kirby see meta as this cool, funny, mysterious knight friend
•meta sees kirby as this horrifyingly strong happy go lucky child
•they still have fights and sword training but less “im gonna show up out of nowhere and throwndown” and more “wanna fight next friday? cool, ill brings swords you bring snacks”
•actually, in turn for sword lessons, kirby tries to teach meta other abilities
•meta isnt strong enough to tell him it doesnt work that way so he goes along with it
•kirby still baby talks sometimes and meta is the only person who can understand it. ddd begs him to translate but meta refuses because he “doesnt want to encourage that kind of speech” ( hes actually just proud that hes the only one who can understand it )
•meta knows kirby is stronger than him but he still feels like the training is necessary. he just wants kirby to be better than himself as much as he can
•kirby frequently asks why they look alike. could they be related? could they be family? could they be brothers??? are you my dad????????
•meta never responds. kirby thinks hes being secretive but honestly meta just doesnt fucking know and doesnt want to admit it ( he knows hes probably not his dad at the very least .. )
•actually, meta doesnt know a lot about kirby anyways, because kirby is dreamlandic. galacta is halcandran. meta is neither.
•when kirby fought m-7110, he still used the sword ability. it was the one time he could use any ability he wanted but it still mattered to him
•if kirby gets hurt, meta ( while slightly freaking out on the inside ) uses the best medical supplies he has and won’t leave until he is absolutely sure kirby won’t die
•if meta gets hurt, kirby pulls out band-aids with bat patterns and puts at least 20 on him. meta would die before he admits it but he actually really likes them, even though they would be utterly useless for a real emergency.
•just because metas probably not a dad doesnt mean there cant be dad jokes
•once kirby started yelling because he saw a double rainbow and meta was half convinced he was dying because what in the name of nova would ever cause a creature to make a noise like that
•kirby draws pictures of the meta crew and hangs them on the halberd sometimes. theyre only taken down when theres a risk of them getting ruined
•kirby loves cooking, but meta has would probably try to set a stove aflame with galaxia. he’s even worse at cooking than keeping the halberd from exploding. somehow, desserts are an entirely different subject though, and kirby will not go a week without having one of meta’s late night parfaits
•before kirby and meta were actually friends, kirby would every so often bring meta some cake as a token of friendship. this stopped happening after the events of squeak squad.
•meta will play guitar to kirby’s singing, as long as kirby isn’t by a mike.
•kirby wants to be like meta when he grows up . just, maybe a little less edgy
•kirby kept all of meta’s broken masks. he tries to glue them back together. it doesn’t work very well, but he still tries his best .
•meta knows kirby is going to be taller than him, and it kills him
•if kirby is ever near meta when hes in a fight or threatening someone, most of metas words are, “kirby, dont ever repeat that.”
•kirby encourages meta to draw with him. kirby draws his friends and meta creates a rough draft of a plasma cannon to add to the halberd. it basically still drawing so it works
•meta has let kirby use his cape as a blanket more than once. anybody who tries to point this out gets a death glare from popstars strongest knight
•ddd joked that meta had a soft spot for kirbs. meta responded with “i have no soft spots for anyone.” then proceeded to let kirby hold his hand because it was thundering outside and it scared him
•if kirby ever has a nightmare, he always goes to meta. meta is usually terrible at comforting, but for some reason, he’s really helpful with dreams.
meta used to be putoff by kirby but now he would die for him and thats kinda their relationship in a nutshell

How I can see Galacta Knight interacting with Kirby and some of the dream friends
I've recently developed a self-indulgent headcanon that sometime after the events of Heroes in Another Dimension, Hyness becomes generous enough to finally let Galacta Knight be free from the crystal he's been trapped inside of for so long. About time that he was let out!
I have some interpretations for dynamics that he could have with Kirby and some of the dream friends. Do note I said some of them, because as of right now I don't have ideas for how he'd interact with all the dream friends, but I'm glad to share the ideas that I do have!
Anyways, let's go over them.
Kirby: I can easily see a friendship here, as Kirby always tries to be everybody's friend! While I imagine Galacta Knight would be very irritable and temperamental as a result of traumatization from being trapped in crystal for eons, he'd most likely take well to Kirby a lot sooner than most others. The fellow younger pink puffball is hard to resist. And because Kirby is compassionate and empathetic, he'd feel terrible for what Galacta Knight has been through and would give him a very much needed hug that he's been so incredibly deprived of.
Meta Knight: Even though I don't commonly factor in extra mode content in my headcanons, I do canonize Meta Knight summoning a clockwork star and make a wish to fight Galacta Knight as something that happens in my verse. And that's exactly why I don't see these two getting along. Galacta was already messed up from being eternally stuck in crystal by that point, he's not happy that Meta just summoned him, beat him up, and left. He kind of holds a grudge against him for it. He'd most likely want to fight Meta for revenge if they encountered again, and it wouldn't help that Meta would just gladly take the challenge as an excuse for another fight. It'd take quite a while for these two to warm up to each other, as Galacta would certainly need some time to get over his bitterness for Meta.
Dark Meta Knight: This one is pretty interesting to think about. I think there's an actual, sincere possibility that Galacta and DMK could get along over them both sharing a distaste for Meta Knight. But... despite this possibility, I think the most likely outcome of this dynamic is that they'd both just fight and try to kick each other's asses. They're both temperamental assholes that easily lash out. DMK is largely stand-offish and rather bad at making friends, and I imagine that Galacta would probably distrust other knights in general because his encounter with Meta Knight left a foul taste in his mouth. If they were to see eye-to-eye, I think it'd take a while for it to happen.
Magolor: I actually headcanon that Magolor knows about Galacta Knight's existence because the Lor Starcutter has information on him. Galacta was in Halcandra before, allowing the Lor to detect him and store him into her memory, and that's what made it possible to make a mask based on him in Merry Magoland. Anyways, I believe that Magolor would be giddy and excited to meet Galacta in person. He'd love to learn more about him and show all his merch to him. I feel like Galacta would be weirded out by Magolor at first due to his over-the-top eagerness to know him, but I could see him eventually coming around and even taking well to the wizard's whimsical nature. Magolor could also amaze Galacta with his comically big ultra sword.
Susie: I've noticed that Galacta Knight and Susie have many things in common: being largely pink, both have had extremely long-term trauma (Susie stuck in Another Dimension, Galacta stuck in a crystal prison) and they've both got a large knack for violence. I think it's very possible they could bond or at least get along over these things. Pink bitches named breakfast! I believe that much like Magolor, Susie would also be very excited to meet Galacta. She'd find him to be even cooler than Meta Knight, especially delighted that he's pink! Galacta would probably be quite off-put by her at first, but I could see him coming around to like her for a mutual love of pink and also liking all the tech stuff she does. I hc Susie is past mechanizing people, so no worries about Galacta being a robot here. I think they could get on!
Marx: When Marx first learned about the Meta Knight vs. Galacta Knight incident and that it involved a clockwork star to let the fight happen, it caught his attention. He pestered Meta about the details as he was curious to meet Galacta himself, which he'd then have the chance to do so after Galacta is free from crystal post-HiAD. Anyways, I imagine the dynamic between Marx and Galacta to be rather complicated. It'd likely be tense at first, since Marx might be insufferable enough to ask a bunch of obnoxious questions in regards to the allegations of "greatest warrior of the galaxy", which would prompt Galacta to skewer him on the spot. I know I said that Galacta could maybe come around to Magolor for being whimsical, but Marx is a bigger handful by comparison that'd be harder to warm up to. I think it's not impossible for Galacta to eventually come to like Marx, but it'd take a long time to get there, and would hate him at first.
Ribbon: Ribbon would most likely be mind-blown by Galacta Knight. I'm not sure there's much else to say in that regard. This knight is pink just like Kirby, and look at that weaponry and armor! She'd compliment him like nuts. I think Ribbon is someone that Galacta could come to like faster than many others. She's very nice, compassionate and loves pink! Galacta might have difficulties in getting along with people in general right after being freed of crystal because he needs time to recuperate and heal, but he could warm up to Ribbon a lot quicker than he could to most other dream friends.
The Mage Sisters: Considering that I headcanon Hyness freeing Galacta Knight, I imagine that made the cult leader's daughters become interested in meeting him shortly after. I think the first impressions wouldn't be great as Galacta would want some time to himself initially, but I think he'd probably be able to come around to find these women to be alright. Zan Partizanne and Flamberge might be a little obnoxious with how much they'd like to spar with him, but otherwise I think he'd come to take a liking to their fighting spirits and capacity to cause extreme chaos and violence. He's known Hyness for a long time, so he'd be able to reveal a lot of stuff to them.
Those are all the dream friends that I got stuff for in terms of interacting with Galacta Knight. Sorry I couldn't do them all as of this time. I currently can't think up stuff for how the heck he'd interact with King Dedede, Bandana Waddle Dee, Taranza, Daroach, Adeleine, Gooey and the animal friends. But hope you enjoy what I do have here!
Like stated above in the stuff I put forward, the idea of both Magolor and Susie having a big fascination for Galacta Knight is pretty humorous. Heheheheheheheh.

Who, in the notable Kirby cast, do you think would be willing to become Susie's friend? Aside from Kirby himself of course, as I had already asked about Susie/Kirby interactions previously, so this time this is about how she may be with others!
The rest of the wave 3 dream friends would be good options, as I believe they've all got various things in common with Susie that they'd be able to connect with her about.
I also nominate ChuChu for a friend choice. I had indeed seen the "It's Kirby Time!" stuff where there's one image that has both ChuChu and Susie in it. Two pink girls becoming friends would be totally legit. Susie could even treat ChuChu like a "little sister friend" for when she comes by Popstar.
It's probably the fact that she gives off major lesbi... girl power energy, but I think Susie would work especially well with any of the girls and femme-leaning members of the Kirby main cast!
Susie and Chuchu, as you said, is already implied by the extra material and going by Chuchu's personality in DL3, it's not easy to see why they'd like each other! They both like pretty things, having a good time, and maintaining their own space. They're both a little stubborn, and they're both into girls talk!
Susie and Adeleine is another potential friendship I'm fond of - Ado would probably enjoy having a big sister figure and I'm sure Susie has a lot of stories to share. Some horrifying, considering her childhood growing up in Another Dimension! XD
I don't know if Susie and Ribbon would get along quite as well, depends on how Susie takes to entirely magical beings like fairies. ("I don't believe in occult nonsense!" Susie channeling Seto Kaiba.) But I get the feeling if she ju~st might see her as more of a "curiosity" and that might get in the way of their becoming really close on Ribbon's side as she doesn't strike me someone who'd like that?
(Though they could still bond over their love of pink.)
Despite what I said about fairies, I could see her getting along decently with Elline?! Mostly because Elline's attitude just seems more in line with Susie's. And something about Seventopia's color fairy being something of a living children's book would probably resonate with the woman who lost her childhood. (It would be funny to see Susie and Claycia start talking about their favorite artworks only to stir each other up into getting kind of snobby about art while the others just groan and wait for it to be over.)
Susie and the trio of Franny, Berge, and Zan is practically a given. Susie has a semi-canonical rivalry with Fran over their looks but there's no reason it can't be a friendly one. Susie and Zan could share their various traumas and their both being workaholics.
Susie and Berge might seem like the pair with the least in common, but, paying homage to the semi-common fandom idea of the Mage Sisters all being gaming addicts, I can see totally Susie right there with them on the couch, getting incredibly competitive and shouting into her headset mic in a way that makes Berge burst into giggles!
-
Stepping away from the girl side of things, I also like the idea of a strange friendship forming being Susie and Daroach!
Daroach is a self-proclaimed ladie's man and Susie is very proud of her looks. (Both narcissists, lol! :cough:) Daroach has a lot in common with Meta Knight - intelligent, suave, leader of men, has an airship - and we know that the masked swordsman caught Susie's interest at first glance. Susie, meanwhile, assuming she hasn't been sued for everything she's worth, possesses a lot of money/capital.
They're both off-worlders and capable of interplanetary travel, which should overcome any initial biases she might have about him being "backwards" or too low-tech. Another thing they've got in common is she and Daroach are both involved in undercover activities!
She's an industrial spy; he's a phantom thief!
...This is sounding like I'm writing propanda for a potential ship. ^^; Then again, they both have some bi vibes...! Mainly with Meta Knight. Hmm... Maybe they're actually just Meta Knight-sexual?! In which case, there's something else they have in common! XD
Ooh, this reminds me, I SWEAR I had a really good ask in my inbox talking about Daroach and Susie along the lines of comparing them for their criminal activities but when I went looking for it, I couldn't find it! My sister tells me Tumblr eats messages all the time tho. Still a shame. I was looking forward to answering that one. Anyway! Canonically attractive criminals! They should be pals!!

A couple people responded to my earlier query looking for my Kirby movie pitch and here was the actual post I was referring to!
There are some things I think I could have done better - make Ribbon less of a clueless damsel stuck interacting with the "antagonists", 100% include a kickass duel between Meta Knight and Dark Matter at the end, let Rick and the others share in some of the more active "Team Kirby" heroics, probably play up Marx and Bandee as having a toxic "friendship" and have Kirby reach a hand out to Bandee, forging the bond that's going to last them for the rest of the series...
...though all that would make an already packed script even longer!
Welcome back!! Also, I’d LOVE to hear that pitch idea 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To get this out of the way first, when it comes to hypoethetical Kirby movie ideas, I often hear things like "Return to Dream Land would be the best game to adapt to a movie!"
I...disagree.
It's a really nice story, with an intriguing beginning, middle, and an infamous last act twist. But you actually need to understand what kind of character Kirby et al are, their world, and Kirby's themes before you can really understand what makes RtDL's (and Magolor's) story effective. Because of that, it's not a good introduction.
So, which game would I adapt?
Ah, see, here's the thing. I think the best way to handle it would be to combine several plots together! For this, I'm loosely adapting Kirby's Dream Land 2/3, Kirby Super Star, AND Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. That's right! All of 'em!
Let's dive in!
--
We open on a colorful storybook-esque backdrop, with a young girl narrating to us about the peaceful Planet Pop Star and the story of "Kirby of the Stars", a mysterious traveler from afar with even more mysterious abilities!
...The camera pans back to show us an excited Adeleine showing off her notebook full of idea sketches to curious Kirby, who speaks (yes, speaks - all throughout the movie, in fact) that they're not certain why, exactly, they're being made out to be the hero of this story Adeleine is conceptualizing in the first place. Adeline points out that Kirby is fascinating and exciting (and lovable! :cheek squish:) and that more people should know about them!
Kirby replies that they're happy with the life they have right now, panning out to show Kirby's house in Whispy Wood’s forest, as well as the rest of the animal friends. Also, "...isn't it lunch time?"
But lunch is put on hold as Coo points out some suspicious activity in the sky. We switch POVs to Ribbon, frantically clutching her crystal while being chased by vague shadow resembling Dark Matter Swordsman and a handful of Dark Matters in tow. In desperation she attempts to activate the crystal as they near in, causing a sonic boom type effect that rocks the land below, sending bits of light and dark debris everywhere. Ribbon goes flying too.
Kirby and the gang find her, where she wakes up to explain to them all in a panic that "...Zero is coming!" and their whole planet is in grave danger. She answers only few brief questions about where she came from and who Zero is before demanding directions to the ruler of their kingdom. She can't waste time here. She needs a hero!
They (some of them swallowing their doubts) point her in the direction of Castle Dedede and she flies off before they can even ask if she wants anyone to "...accompany her?" (Kirby offers to go after her anyway, but everyone kind of groans at the idea of actually, you know, TALKING to Dedede and puts forward they idea they should get back to lunch, something that immediately wins Kirby over.)
A bat-like shadow flies out from the trees just as something gooey that had fallen from the sky in that explosion begins to rattle from the inside of one of Adeleine's paint buckets.
We follow the shadow of the bat-like creature across the landscape of Dream Land till he swoops in for a landing in front of Castle Dedede... revealing himself as Meta Knight.
He's given a friendly but harried greeting by a certain Waddle Dee. Meta Knight is interrupted from asking about the current status of things in the castle by the appearance of Marx, the king's jester, who cracks a few jokes at Meta's expense. Meta shows some anger at Marx who plays at being threatened right as King Dedede arrives on scene. Dedede looks for all intents to be the villainous foil, self-absorbed, egotistical (easily manipulated) and agreeing without thinking too hard about it to everything Marx says. (Even when that thing is mocking himself.) Meta interrupts to remind them all that there are more important matters at hand. That's when either Ribbon arrives at the castle or - we hear that she's already arrived.
Back in the forest, lunch turns into comical hijinks as the group discovers the weird life-form in Adeleine's paints. It hops out, spooks everyone badly, including itself, until Kirby tries inhaling it to stop it from running - only to immediately spit it out. "It tastes...Gooey." (Gooey repeats the word, finding in it a descriptor...and, a name?)
The gang wonder if this weird creature could be the Dark Matter Ribbon spoke of, or even Zero itself! Gooey can't provide any answers about who or what they are (and is still learning the concept of speech) but the forest denizens are able to put off their suspicions thanks to their positive experiences with Kirby, who was also an outsider once. Kirby and Gooey bond quickly over that, with Kirby showing Gooey that just because they don't know what they are, that doesn't make them so strange. Kirby has strange abilities too - showing off a few Copy Abilities too, like using Fire to cook up some baked yams for everyone.
This happy meet-and-greet is interspersed with scenes of Ribbon now catching the Castle Gang up on her story. That "Zero" is a force of pure negativity that has threatened countless planets, most recently consuming her home of Ripple Star, its queen, and all of her friends. She alone escaped with Ripple Star's treasure, the Crystal of the Ancients. The Queen told her to seek out heroes who could unlock its power and stop Zero but... King Dedede stops her there. She was right in coming to see him. The greatest, toughest, bravest "hero" in all of Pop Star. (Dee, Marx, and even Meta Knight all share an eye roll at this declaration.) Let Zero come! The Great King Dedede will stop them in their tracks! (...And get all the fame!)
...Ahem, to start summarize things a little faster (so that this doesn't turn into an hour and a half long read) Ribbon very quickly starts to have her doubts about King Dedede's fitness as a hero (and her choice to come to him for help) as he blatantly ignores her actual warnings to focus on the celebration when he finishes saving the day. The rest of the Castle gang sympathize with her doubts and all agree that this is pretty classic Dedede. Marx and Waddle Dee especially have their gripes with the King's rule, except that we begin to see more and more that Marx, who plays the adorable, long-suffering jester of an idiotic, despotic king when anyone's eyes are on him, is snide to Waddle Dee in the shadows and has been manipulating Dedede into making himself even more of a big useless oaf that no one respects. (Not that Dedede is without flaws, Waddle Dee confesses, but he buys into Marx's false praise too much and doesn't realize he's become something of a laughing stock.)
Ribbon's mention that Zero's agents chased her here end up leading to Gooey being considered a dangerous target to be arrested on sight, just as Kirby and Adeleine take Gooey into town to show them around/teach them more about Dream Land/maybe stir some memories or just good experiences?
Meta Knight, who is sent on this task, catches them in town, despite Adeleine and Kirbys' attempts to disguise Gooey, and the Forest Group and the Castle Group end up clashing, as Dedede wants to splat "the evil Zero" with his hammer in front of everyone, but Kirby insists that Gooey isn't Zero, Gooey is a friend and wouldn't hurt anyone. The only way to solve this argument...?
...Set up a giant arena in front of Castle Dedede and challenge Kirby to a big public tournament for the right to keep Gooey! Poor unprepared Waddle Dee is sent in first, providing a few moments of future friendship bonding for the pair. Next is Meta Knight, who uses this mostly as an exercise to test finally Kirby in combat, giving him several grim warnings during the fight.
Despite Meta seemingly outmatching our puff in every way, Kirby surprises him, inhaling Meta's sword and landing a shocking blow that cracks his mask. Kirby is ever so briefly surprised to see that Meta Knight...looks just like they do. Meta quickly vanishes before a shocked audience can see. (Marx grins.) A stunned Dedede, who didn't expect Meta to lose, quickly recovers to face Kirby in the final round for possession of Gooey and the right to the title of Dream Land's hero.
Ribbon, who has been watching Kirby closely throughout the tournament, and remembering their offers of assistance from the very beginning, has realized they're the one who fits her ideals of a hero. (And the Crystal begins to glow...)
King Dedede, for all that he fails to impress as a king, is one heck of a fighter and proves a pretty even match for Kirby! Refusing to be outdone, he manages to use his build to his advantage to mimic Kirby's own unique abilities. (This is partly because he's giving it his all, unlike Meta Knight, who was holding back.) But a shriek mid-way through the fight alerts both combatants to trouble and brings the duel to a sudden close.
You guessed it! Marx has turned on everyone. With Meta Knight out of the picture temporarily, he's caged Ribbon and snagged the crystal for himself. He gives a stunned Dedede a verbal kick in the ego, pointing out every one of his flaws that everyone was too dull to call him out on till he showed up and says Zero can have this planet.
"...For now!"
Its time for the gang to regroup to chase after Marx and get Ribbon back! Alas, King Dedede is feeling defeated after that verbal smackdown until Waddle Dee steps up to give him a much needed reality check / pep talk. Its true, King Dedede wasn't the best king till now. Marx was kind of right about that - if unnecessarily mean about it. But he's still THEIR king. And if he tries, Dedede can still be a "Great" King! Kirby chimes in too. They had a really good time with that fight, if only they weren't fighting over possession of one of Kirby's friends...Okay, NOW Dedede's motivated and on board!
...Which is good because an army of Dark Matter has begun to flood the skies above! There's no time left! Zero approaches! A freshly-masked Meta Knight returns to unite the frightened, under-trained Dees in the defense of Dream Land against the Dark Matter forces - something our main Dee helps rally them for - while Kirby and the others go to rescue Ribbon!
(At a certain point in the battle with the Dark Matter, our main Waddle Dee takes an injury protecting another Dee. Meta Knight compliments the Dee's bravery and maybe giving him some combat pointers, all while bandaging him up with a scrap of blue cloth.)
The rest of the group catches up to Marx as he's in the middle of trying to use the crystal for...something mysterious. There's some sequel tease dialogue there that Marx refuses to elaborate on to "...a couple of idiots." Kirby and Dedede team up to fight him as Adeleine and Gooey work to rescue Ribbon in the background, away from Marx's attention. Kirby and Marx have a mid-battle chat, Marx chiding Kirby's naive ideals after Kirby affirms that there's nothing weird about befriending Dark Matter and that they'd even be friends with someone like Marx. Marx reacts with disgust at this. At Ribbon's suggestion, Kirby copies Mirror from a broken bit of Marx's wings Dedede cracked earlier and tricks the trickster, allowing Dedede to smack him so hard, he sends him flying off into the stars.
That's all done with but they still have Zero to contend with. Dedede announces he has to return to the front to help Meta Knight and the Dees as "...That's what a true king ought to do. Right?" Adeleine goes with him to help with the evacuation. Leaving Kirby and Ribbon (and Gooey too, who, after hearing Kirby's speech about friendship to Marx, is able to reveal their mock matter form before Ribbon) to face Zero with the  reawakened and fully charged (Huh. Did Marx prove...useful?) Ancient Crystal.
Zero (with traits of both Zero Two and some oblique references to Void) is unlike anyone Kirby and co has ever faced. They do not talk, for one thing, leaving Kirby's greatest strength, their empathy and willingness to reach a hand out to anyone, all seem meaningless in the face of pure negative emotion.
Plus, fighting them brings both Kirby and Gooey face to face with their fears (or un-asked questions, till now) as to just what they are. But a pep talk from Ribbon ("I KNOW what you are! I've seen you help everyone you come across. No matter whether they've done anything to earn it or not!") and Meta Knight's wise words the tournament comes back to Kirby at a key point in the fight.
In the end, the battle of "where you come from" vs "what your actions say about you" ends in a victory for our heroes. Zero is defeated, the day is saved, Gooey is considered a welcome resident of Dream Land by all, Kirby has some new friends, Dedede is taking steps down the road to real leadership (and won't stop hounding Kirby to a rematch to find out who really is the strongest) and Ripple Star and the fairies are freed from the darkness!
There are questions, of course. Still mysteries to be had. But food, friendship, and nap time are most important, for right now.
The post-credits stinger? ...Marx's unconscious body floating through space. Up until he bumps up against the hull of a very familiar looking ship that is. (1)
---
Anyway, that's basically the idea!
My goal was to try and introduce as many familiar Kirby characters and conflicts as possible, even if that meant reworking the context they originally appeared in, while also trying hard to avoid an overdone "origin story" movie feel.
King Dedede doesn't steal all the food (although there could be a line about him doing that) but we see that he is too self-obsessed to be a good king atm. Except that he has a heroic enough streak deep down that he DOES know the difference between right and wrong.
Marx is still a tricky traitor who knows more than he lets on but is more concerned about selfishly getting his way than the damage to others his ambitions could cause. Zero is still a frightening, unfathomable, otherworldly evil with vague connections to Kirby.
Adeleine and the animal friends play the role of Kirby's supportive family and represent everything that's good and comfy about Planet Pop Star. Ribbon is an at-times heroine-in-distress who still knows what she needs and can also hold her own when the chips are down.
Gooey is the cute, wanna-protect-them fish-out-of-water character for us to examine/learn about both Kirby and Pop Star with. (Bandanna) Waddle Dee still has their sassy attitude while beginning an arc that would grow with each successive appearance. Meta Knight is cool, intelligent, tactical, but always mysterious.
Now...
I know that not a lot happens TO Kirby directly in this pitch but...Kirby is a character who stays pretty consistent throughout the series. We don't really have a strong ground for saying "In the early days, Kirby was more like this..." (outside of things like their rash decision to blame Dedede in Adventure and Squeak Squad) so I freely admit... Kirby does not have a character arc here. Which could be considered a major flaw, where this to be a real film. Kirby could be considered a "boring, infallible hero." And I don't really have a rebuttal for that except that I personally wasn't that interested in using this experiment to deeply examine Kirby's flaws via the template journey ten thousand movie heroes have gone through (and Kirby has so few flaws anyway) as much as I was interested in exploring how Kirby's steadfastness manages to (positively) affect the those they meet and the world around them.
The other thing of course is that it’s not a very lore heavy treatment. Plenty of classic, even iconic stuff gets left out. Outside of the food-stealing thing, Dedede never gets possessed. They never go off planet. There’s no Galactic Nova outside a few easter eggs in the fight with Marx. No Star Rod or Fountain of Dreams. No Kracko, Kabula, or other bosses and enemies as anything more than background cameos. I mention adapting Super Star, but Dyna Blade and Wham Bam don't really play a part, so it's really just Milky Way Wishes. A movie with less ground to cover would have plenty of room for these individual elements to breathe, but when I first started thinking of this, I set myself a personal goal of seeing covering as much "Kirby" as I could in just three movies.
Other thoughts of mine...
I only hinted at Dark Matter Blade's appearance in the beginning summary without having a full role for them in the story. That's because... I couldn't decide. ^^; I did want to tie them to Gooey, but I also wanted Gooey there for the fight with Zero, when Dark Matter Blade would likely be leading the invasion of Pop Star. (And thus, probably have an awesome duel with Meta Knight??)
The whole thing is also a little jam-packed. But I honestly don't think these 3 (+) stories are as discordant as they might seem! Especially since putting them all together allows us to have a fuller cast with a nice spread of flaws, goals, skill sets, and attitudes. And yes, I ditch Adventure (even though I love Nightmare) but I think the stuff with the Fountain of Dreams could always be used as a flashback sequence in a sequel movie. Maybe to tie off the trilogy?
Anyway, for getting through all that, have a bonus sketch of what a potential movie poster might look like!

(1) Speaking of trilogies / as for the stinger...
Not to go too much into it here, but the general plan in this hypothetical would be to try and get as many mainline stories into three (?) movies as possible. While I haven't QUITE worked out how to mix Planet Robobot, Adventure, Star Allies, and Forgotten Land cohesively (the science vs magic aspect of having Haltmann and Hyness as dual villains was intriguing though, and its possible to twist the HWC stuff to fit with the Beast Pack's activities while making Eflilis into Hyness's desired form of revenge was a bit poetic) but I did figure out much of the structure of movie two, which combines Squeak Squad, Return to Dream Land, and Triple Deluxe. (With a sprinkling of Amazing Mirror and Canvas Curse.)
Here, the Lor Starcutter crashes on Pop Star as per usual, only Magolor AND Taranza emerge from it. Magolor is an antiques dealer now ("ANCIENT" artifacts especially) and he and his ship were hired by Taranza as transport on a very important delivery mission for the "glorious" Queen Sectonia when they were attacked by the inter-galactic band of thieves known as The Squeaks, who stole their extremely important cargo! They require Kirby and the gang's help to get the ship fixed and put everything in order.
It's treachery left and right though, as the stolen cargo WASN'T the Dimensional Mirror, like Taranza had been told by Sectonia. Furthermore, the framed Squeak's were originally hired BY the queen (through Magolor!!) to steal the real treasure, the Master Crown, so she could claim it to secure her rule. But, say it with me now, everyone then gets triple crossed by Magolor, who steals the stolen Master Crown for himself. Because of course he does.
(And by this point, we know enough about Kirby and their feelings on friendship and forgiveness to know that they would of course be willing to try and help save Magolor, even after being betrayed, when Magolor's plan goes all sorts of wrong. ...You also get some call backs as Magolor's frightening transformation into Dark Matter can pull on some trauma of Kirby's for not being able to reach out and communicate with Zero. There's actual stakes now as Kirby needs to save him before he, too, falls beyond his reach!)
