One thing I don’t totally adore about the Arcane fandom is probably the inability to address the complexities of anyone who isn’t Jinx or Silco.

So many people go to intense lengths to defend these two and talk about how they’re morally gray, but if we see anyone else (especially a Piltovan) doing something half as bad as them, they are instantly labelled the worst character.

I’m mostly involved in the CaitVi part of the fandom and occasionally hear people complain about how they are antagonized compared to Jinx and Silco.

Now I’m seeing more of people discussing the hate Mel receives, particularly how it’s rooted in misogynoir.

And right at the beginning of Arcane airing and even now, people despise Jayce.

It’s a pattern.

Everyone, and I mean every single character, deserves to be analyzed and taken into consideration the same way Silco and Jinx are.

This is not a hate post against them or the people who like them. Though I’m not a big fan of Silco, I think he’s a great villain. I also feel for Jinx a ton. But their hurt and their struggles and their tragedy doesn’t make everyone else’ less than.

Also, infantilizing these characters is weird. Their technically “bad people” in a lot of ways and that’s okay. That’s their point. Absolving them of that makes them a mere shell of what they’re intended to be.

Either way, all of these things cause so much division in the fandom so let’s all be nice to each other and hear each other out please.

X gifts something to Y and they hate it but cover it as best they can (optional character Z might struggle real hard not to laugh)

X offers a Bday present to Y and Y is stunned they know it's their bday at all

X sees something that gets them so excited/emotional that Y has basically no choice but to gift it to them

X is saddened by an old gift of Y (who is dead/estranged/absent)

X sacrifices a lot to gift something to Y

X is a secret mole for Y (could be a Viktor&Singed team up, a Silco & Viktor team up too...)

X reveals they're the parent of Y (and Y didn't know (the reverse is fun too lol with Y not knowing X is theirs))

Advice :

X doesn't listen to Y's advice

X is having a bad time but advice from Y changes things

X defies Y's advice and Y is proven wrong/right

Can easily be paired with Fix it in the same day...

Fix it :

Vander finds Silco after hurting him and convinces him to give him another chance. After the battle on the bridge they now have 4 kids together.

Vi & Co. break into a different laboratory, and end up meeting Silco on their own terms

Silco adopts any of the kids other than/besides Jinx.

Vi considers Vander's advice/legacy/lesson and acts differently than in the show

Jinx goes to Sevika/Silco for advice/receives a lesson/a secret and acts different as a result

Powder never brought the crystals, when Silco sees a literal baby child in the middle of the fight he calls Deckard off and they find themselves at a stalemate. A new order ensues

Silco dies early and Sevika raises Jinx as her own

Silco survives ep.9 and Vi learns to deal with the dynamic Jinx and Silco share

Vi and Jinx are not interrupted by the Firelights and they get to sit down and talk about their fathers and how things changed

Jinx learns that Vi is in Stillwater and persuades Silco to break her out

Sevika gives young Jinx a lesson as a child when sparring that changes how she approaches her after getting out of jail

Mel and Ambessa's confrontation is different and Ambessa meets with someone else instead of Jayce

Mel changes her plans after confronting her mother

Viktor never leaves the Undercity

Viktor comes to Piltover as a spy for Singed and/or Silco and his actions have repercussions on the story

Caitlyn remembers a lesson from her father/mother and acts differently with Jinx

Lesson :

X teaches Y something new

X teaches Y something even though Y is older/the mentor/parent

X's actions/death teaches a hard lesson to Y

X and Y team up to teach Z a lesson

AU :

Lost/Found :

X loses something important as it's a memento from Y

X finds a memento from Y they thought they lost

X meets Y looking for something else. "Not what i was looking for" sort of scenario

X is lost until they meet Y

Found family sentiments as X rejoices in the presence/love of Y

Angst about X losing Y

Duality :

The hardest one, as so many aspects of Arcane have elements of duality in them already.

X sees in Y a mirror of their own past/trauma (no matter which generation looks at which)

X wishes they could act a certain way to fit/please/work with Y, but they can't help who/how they are

X has a love/hate relationship with Y

X and Y couldn't be further from each other, yet they are bound by something (especially good for zaun/piltove team ups)

I think I have some idea for Mistake but I’m fumbling with various ones. Like for it to be for Marcus or Vi. idk

I wish I could draw for all of these, but I know that at least one; Lesson-AU; I will have to write for, but I would love if I could do even a sketch for those
