Imagine you go through an old art book you had, all your drawings are from when you were just a lil bug and now you see all your most recent drawings. Tell me, how do you feel about those drawings now, since you already saw from when you started the path of the artist and where you are now/pos/aff
I go through my gallery quite a bit, to be honest. Just to see that improvement from all the way back in 2018! My first art post is still around on my old Instagram 😂 I visit that account often enough that it never really got deactivated
That said, when I do look, it’s always fun noticing the little consistent details that have changed over time and the different bits and pieces I was using from other artists’ styles to better my own work. I wouldn’t have thought a while back I’d even be hardly successful doing commissions as well as I can now and reaching the sizable audiences I am. Just that thought that back then I wasn’t sure what was gonna come next or how I could continue to improve because several times I’d say I’m content where I am
And I say that now too! I like to think I’m content where I am and there’s not much room for improvement where I’m leaning towards but there is and it’s exciting to think about how my arts gonna shift over more time. It changed so rapidly from style to style for years and now I’m flowing along a more consistent pace and have found a point where I’m happy and I wanna focus on the style and coloring and things I’ve picked up since last June
I wanted more than anything to have a satisfyingly sketchy semi-realistic art style where I could take beloved characters and visualize them in a different way. And being able to achieve great lighting and rendering on top of that. And I feel like I’ve got it haha!
It also, as y’all have seen recently with my work for Xisuma, had opened up more opportunities to work with the people I enjoy indulging in. I couldn’t be more thankful that despite where I was, I was still up and drawing nearly every single day and constantly improving wherever I could for such a long time. Yeah, my old stuffs not gonna look that great compared to what I do now most of the time, but it was such an essential part to my work now and I’m always so fond of everything I’ve made
