I made some twst oc's to rep some of our Australian animals! The art is *very* rough but this has been sitting in my work in progress folder for like a month so GOOD ENOUGH. Plus some bonus facts about our animals because a lot of my design and character choices were based of the animals themselves and I wanted to give people some context. Bazza was also based off my memories of a typical teenage boy in Aus. But I clearly don't have a high opinion of teenage boys here because he ended up a very unpleasant character XD I filed him down so much and he's still rough around the edges :P

And yes! I have seen a blue ringed octopus in the wild! My fool of a school teacher was gently poking it with a knife to get it to glow blue. Like bruh. Your supposed to be supervising these kids not riling up dangerous wildlife we might accidentally step on.

I also wanted to make a fae character based around thylacines, as fae are rare and thylacines are extinct (thank you shithead white colonialists of the past), but .... I'm tired :P

Swallowing my nerves at last to send you an ask! I was just wondering, what inspires your designs? Are their inspirations in stuff like movies or games? Or just things you come up with yourself?

i .. honestly its kinda hard to tell, sometimes i just randomly think of something, like some detail, or color combination and try to incorporate that into a design somehow; it can come from anywhere, like the color scheme of a pithaya/dragonfruit is something i have been wanting to make a design with for ages but havent come up with anything good in all those years ;O;

im a very easily fascinated by color, espeically in nature, like sometimes i just stop and stare at something like i froze in time bc i just woooooooooooooah color! i probably look like a weirdo doing that though

its really hard to pinpoint anything specifically, the most is probably .. other artists? i guess? which always makes me nervous bc my memory is shit in most areas of life and i worry myself to pieces whether i unintentionally "stole" an idea and just dont remember and think it was my own, it goes further that sometimes i see something that makes me want to draw a similar concept but dont bc i dont want to 'steal' even if that couldnt be further from my intention (have been accused of that before ..)

that said for my ocs specifically .. most are rather old and have just kinda evolved out of their awkward first iterations (shargons first iteration was a hauro-howl- copy that was really just some human covered in feathers .. another oc was once a hellboy copy but in green- havent drawn nor redeisgn them in ages lol), the biggest inspirations for them is a mix of animals, bonus if you dont see them often- im a big shark, whale and sea creatures in general nerd so i tend to take from them as a priority but always trying to be less directly animal and mostly just .. features that work together

Eadrya is one of the newer OCs- i started to write but then looked at my folders and oh they are from 2017 .., i even made a design timeline for them how much they, and my art, have changed back in 2020, so thats also way outdated now lol (they apparently started as a whale .. thing? its like a pokemon evolution lol)

for demons i try to be a bit more wild on shapes and colors while still adhering to the rules of how they work (humanoid form, demon form, animalistic, one element each and more or less made to fit that, 4 arms is very common, look to be bost scary and wild but also something that would make you stop in tracks and stare in awe and fear if you crossed paths)

often times designs just kinda .. happen, i have maybe the idea ok i wanna make something with a white and red pattern also moose or those big horned cows are cool and kinda scary so maybe sth akin to that (though this one is technically a redesign too- its also pretty much entirely different)

for non demons but still non human i go for a much more restrained design, mainly inspired directly by an animal and giving the color scheme a good spin, plus adding unconventional body shapes, like ki'ita is also a good example, her old idea was just orca anthro pirate and just by making the white green instead in her most recent redesign already adds that little spin to it

that can have its pitfalls though, as i often fall into the big arm small head small legs scheme over and over xD

alot of it is trial and error, deciding on the colors can take me hours bc im always searching for my little rule of having one contrast color that shows up in very few places to draw attention to it (like with Eadrya its those bright yellow eyes and thingy at their tail)

and that is all about myy own ocs, when its fandom stuff it works kinda similar though, either in the connections i wanna draw or just thinking it further- like how deities in destiny work also just kinda .. happened like an ever derailing train

like for demise i was at first really just im gonna give him horns bc horns are cool and he got those on the starting mural in the game- so how his hair work? well maybe it isnt hair actually and just unbound energy, im making him a deity too and fit hylias design to his so, yeah, then so how does it work, ok he gotta have a skeleton still, but what if his entire actual body is made up of pure magical energy with its core in the ribcage? with the core in the ribcage >:3c and the scales you see are just like cooled down lava as an armor bc his thing is fire and earth !! the normal blood? is a thin layer of skin imiated from mortals to keep the scales together and flexible so if he ACTUALLY gets hurt hed bleed magic that looks more like lava and any normal blood you see is just the armor- so why does he have a skeleton still instead of being just energy? maybe its gotta be bound to something OH and what if all of the deities started as mortals like a mirror to the trio later on and the gods cannot have direct influence to the worlds so they needed a right hand that is neither god nor mortal but both by killing a mortal by whatever their element will be (demise burned, hylia drowned etc) and their skeleton and spirit is kept but put into a body of magic- OH what if their spirit core is like almost piloting their bodies like a mech in a way bc if youd look close youd see that every strand of magic is actual a hand of their spirit so it makes it more weird and other bc hed be able to reach out with thousands of burning claws of all shapes and sizes like the beheaded forest god at the end of mononoke- SO if hed lose and arm or something all those strands would untangle and rearrange his bones back together-OH MY GOD the whole armor idea works so well for ghirahims dark armor so what if demise had two swords once and lost one and since has forged an armor similar to his own for ghirahim out fo fear of losing him t---

and that all is a process that happens over several weeks and months not rarely while i am drawing something mindlessly and suddendly *have a thought* and omg that makes so much sense-

so "what" inspires my designs? an ever derailing train of thought about making cool thick monsters that arent the evil thing to get rid of for once? cool color schemes? idk it just kinda happens??

So much work ahead, it really eats away my time, I've noticed, couldn't finish artworks recently. Mostly tried to work on that one AU drawing to have it almost done. But all this research eats my time which results in less time for art. Then I watch everyone else draw so much and I sit there thinking, man..

When I listen to soundfiles I can't draw at the same time since I need to stay focused on the sounds. However I managed to listen through 2k yesterday. I really really wanna be sure I have all the sounds for the Muir video, I literally found a different version of a perch howl yesterday! That one was not inside the actual Muir folder.

raaaah, the lore thickens. This could mean I can stumble upon other soundfiles from Muir that aren't in his Puppet folder. I only have... 16000 files to go through now. Number is getting smaller (I managed to listen to over 8.000 now).

If anyone ever wonders if I'll make a video of the soundfiles of other Puppets... maybe.. but I'd have to sort all these darn soundfiles from the Media folder. It's probably why people before me didn't bother at all. It took me over 2h and 30min to listen to 2000 files. Now calculate how much I need for 16000

But hm, I currently want to finish that one artwork, then I need to sit down and draw something for a friend of mine for Secret Santa. Want to finish this Muir video before the year ends (I want to see it finished soooo badly). And maybe continue that super detailed Muir painting I had to put on hold, due to moving. The one I mean is shown on my pinned post here, that already took days to make and I'm not even halfway done with it. I want to see how far I can push my render skills atm.

Oh and draw a bunch of buses again, but on paper to get better with traditional art.

I always had problems managing my time (nothing new for me, so don't be confused if I do 6273728 things at once XD), tho I probably will figure out how to deal with this at some point. I always got yelled at, at my old workplace for taking too long on things, even tho my coworker kept giving me new tasks to work on so I couldn't finish the first thing he wanted, so he became more angry at me if I spend 3 weeks on something. Or spend 3 days on a task he usually finishes in 1 day, like. What? Like, he became soooo weird about it, that he tried to be angry about anythiiiing. And then he got confused when he heard what I told other coworkers in private. When he said that, I got flashbacks to my other uncle being angry that I told teachers how bad I felt mentally (at school). This is so confusing

I got praised for my work in the new job, which is wild that they don't expect me to work like a machine but to take my time. People aren't so focused on speed here.

So I don't know if my way of working on things is super bad, or if it's just dunno, big projects require so much energy and time. And then I watch everyone do so much art and I'm like waaaaiiit I wanna draw too Aaaaaaa. I wish I could eat art, because I frkn love art so much I shake my fists in the air whenever I see gorgeous artworks from others. Or see some absolutely stunning moviessssss.

I need to buy frames- I need to hang some drawings.

Okay Fellas, imma go tidy up my apartment and sort some stuff. I still have something to do in my bathroom.

15. Was there anything you had to research for this fic? Do you usually do a lot of research?

So tumblr ate this the first time I answered it, and I'm so mad about that.

Yes, I ended up doing a lot of mental health research for dear Wild. Triggers of flashbacks, what they look like internally vs externally, different types of flashbacks, cptsd, ptsd, DID (no I'm not going to diagnose him with it, but I give him some traits), ADHD vs ADD vs autism (same disclaimer as before), personal attachment disorder, how trauma affects the body and the mind, how trauma affects fight/flight/freeze, "night terrors" for those past childhood, dependency disorders and their presentations, how parental abuse affects kids, how spousal abuse affects kids, the effect of stress on the body and mind both acute and prolonged, repressed trauma and its symptoms, anxiety, insomnia, oppositional defiant disorder, amnesia and recovery from it in general, with a focus on how it can affect personality in particular, etc, etc, etc.

This is not a comprehensive list. For everything mentioned above, I have a few peer-reviewed articles stashed in a folder plus some personal testimonials (Reddit is good for finding those, actually) that I reference every now and then. That's not to say that Wild can be diagnosed with all of the things mentioned above, or that a reader would catch on to a lot of them in their first reading, which is okay with me. I just felt like I needed to get a good grasp on Wild's psyche, so I put in the legwork to understand scientifically how his past might tangibly affect his present in both a realistic and (hopefully) respectful way.

I don't know if this is something I normally do, this is the first long thing I've written Magi XD Guess we'll see if it worked in my favor to do all of the work beforehand this time.

5. Hmm, if we're talking art that I considered finished? Probably like... 95% of it. I tend to post almost everything, with the frequent exception of my traditional art pet portrait commissions, and that's only because I forget about them XD But if we're talking about things that never made it past the sketch/doodle phase and likely never will and that have been languishing in a folder on my computer for years... they probably constitute a good 30% of my art files.

10. N O N E. Clothes are the bane of my existence lmao. Can I say armor? Armor can be taxing and complicated, but it's got hard planes and sharp edges and those are my jam.

12. Ears!! Both pointy and round, or spiky/mermaid-ish, or hobbit like, or orcish or dog/cat/other animal ears or whatever. They are so easy for me to draw, for some reason -- just simple lines that, for animals or fantasy races with mobile ears, can be so expressive. I LOVE them ♡

20. Well. "Enjoy" is a strong word, but probably hands -- I find them as hard to draw as anyone else BUT I am also obsessed with them, so it's not so much enjoyment as that I find the agony to be worth it XD I will literally spend hours to get hands right.

25. Idk! The only thing I can think of right now is that someone once compared it to Ukiyo-e prints which, while they're not a source of conscious inspiration (like, I didn't draw upon them intentionally), I have been surrounded by Japanese art for a good portion of my life, so it's definitely influenced me. Either way, it was the highest compliment!

30. Oh, HA, so I have this bad habit that once I post a piece I never think about it or look at it again; it has been released out into the wild and I just. forget about it. My part in its life is finished lmao. So let me scroll through my art tag real quick because I have NO IDEA what my art is doing without me XD

I'd say this one (just because of how time consuming all the armor, patterning, and detail work was) or this one (which looking at it now, actually has gotten a lot attention given how obscure the fandom is, but it's one of my most raw emotional/personal drawings so I'm still very partial to it ^^).

I'm so glad you liked the list! 💕 I had a lot of fun making it and got the chance to ramble about my favorite writers a bit XD. I'll admit that I actually pulled out a lot more fics than I thought I would lol, so at least it wasn't as short as I'd worried. Although it's still a lot less than I would usually read in a fandom where I wasn't writing fic.

I'd love to share a bit about the fics I'm writing! I have a lot of AUs and ideas in my WIP folder, but I'm currently only really engaging with a few right now.

Born to Be [Redacted] is my biggest WIP at the moment. It's a Malarklina Rapunzel/Tangled Fusion AU wherein the Darkling is stuck in a tower and Malina are chaotic and decide to break him out.

Of course, the Darkling is nowhere near as innocent as Rapunzel, and Mal and Alina are a lot more capable than they were at the start of SaB. It's got a fun play on power dynamics and learning to trust and hurt/comfort tropes, plus a good balance of darker elements and lighter elements. There's going to be adventure and romance and a whole lot of fucking over the Ravkan monarchy 💕

Inch By Inch We Drown Ourselves is a long Malarklina smut fic that has once more gotten away from me and become more complex and emotional than I ever intended for it to be.

Mal and Alina are together and married in an open relationship when Mal brings Aleksander Morozov home for a one night stand. The sex is mind-blowingly good, and Alina eventually joins in as the night progresses. The next morning, when Mal and Alina wake up, Aleksander is gone but he's left his number.

For a few days, they don't call him and their lives return to normal. But then, after a particularly wild night, they invite him over again. And then again. And again. And again. And once he's become a part of their lives, there's no stopping the chaos that follows.

It's got a lot of soft BDSM elements, and explores the very slow and gradual process of Aleksander, who is usually very dominant in bed, learning to give up control with people he trusts.

At the Foot of Her Altar is a short and very dark Darklina fic. It's a lot less down to earth than the other ones, and has a bit of a focus on existential morality.

General Aleksander Morozov worships Sankta Alina, Goddess of the Sun, Goddess of Life and Virtue. Everyday he kneels at her altar, blood on his hands, and prays.

Backwards Acceleration is a WIP that I haven't quite figured out the endgame couple for yet. It's leaning towards Malarklina or Darkblade at this point, but could very well go Darklina. And it's basically just a very elaborate role reversal AU.

Aleksander meets Mal when he's younger. They grow up together as friends, and they both decide to join the army when they come of age. For a few years, they train and rise in ranks and go on missions, getting put in separate units and often spending time apart.

Then they're both set to cross the Scorched Wastes, and an attack on their train forces Aleksander to expose his powers. He's taken to the Exalted Sanctuary, where grisha are brought to be protected and train as priests, separate from the rest of the world.

But Aleksander is a fighter. He does not cower. He does not hide. And the best kind of defense is not one where you lock yourself away, frightened by your enemies; it is one where your enemies aren't ever alive to be a threat to you in the first place.

Now all he must do is convince Sankte Alina that the best place for her to protect her people is not behind the walls of a holy church, but instead on the throne.

Meanwhile, Mal is left wondering just how deep into trouble his friend has gotten, and why he ever attached himself to such a disaster of a person in the first place.

I also have a few prompts that I've been working on, plus the second chapter to We Have All the Time in the World. Some of the other AUs, like the Guardian Angel AU and the Con-Artist AU and the Time Travel AU, are going to start being written after I've completed everything else. Unless I'm suddenly and unfortunately struck by inspiration for something that I haven't already almost completed lol.

Anyways! That's just some of what's going on right now in terms of my fics! 😅 I hope you like it so far.

Describe a current WIP without names. Ha. I'm very predictable. But I love the themes of deep friendship and brotherhood so while that is explored often in most of my work, my current one is making that the center pillar for the story. It's been a challenge to dig THIS deep into my characters at a much younger age, but I'm loving it and thus, some things are really gonna hurt.

A fic idea I loved, then scrapped. In my recent work, I haven't. I jot ideas down and sometimes I get through them and sometimes they stagnate a bit in a folder. But I haven't actively started in and ditched one. Now. Back in JH. Oh my. I would burn so much of what I wrote then, the amount of cringe...But. I have some of it still and I can pull it out to get a good laugh at myself and be grateful for time and experience and practice . ;D

Fave fic from another author. I answered this one in more detail for your sister, but I adore Frodogenic's Meet the Skywalkers. And this is among SO many talented writers and fics out there. I'd say a close runner up is the For Want of a Skywalker series by acuteneurosis. GREAT and best fic for the de-aging trope.

Weirdest thing I've been inspired by. Probably when Winterinhimring and I were messing around via text and suddenly she decided that Artoo was essentially a corgi. And my brain EXPLODED with a modern au featuring Artoo the Corgi, Lady the black shepherd, and Threepio the lazy golden retriever. I had such a grand time with that, but would not have called my muse going wild like it did for that. xD

20 Questions Writer’s Edition

Stolen from @tinacentury, because I have a case of the boreds, and have some time to kill before I have to run foster kitten Ruth to her appointment. So, here we goes.

1. How many works do you have on AO3? Twenty-one? That's what it says. Some of those are grouped in a series.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 76557 currently. Should hit 100k after this year's SMMB is posted though. And if I ever get my lazy butt to move a fic from ff dot net over there, it'll definitely hit that. I'm just so lazyyyy.

3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? Three. 99% of my stuff is Sailor Moon. I have a single unfinished fic for both Gundam Wing and Angel over on ff dot net. And there is absolutely no reason to go look them up. I'm not sure why I haven't axed them yet.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? One: Venus From Her Shell Two: The Return of Sailor V Three: Before Proceeding Forward Four: Camp Elysian Five: Hope in a Barren Wasteland

I'm actually a little surprised my two SMMB fics weren't spot one and two. They get the most promotion off site.

5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not? I try to! I'm not great at being consistent, though. >.> I often forget, and then catch up. I know how nice it can feel to get feedback, whether to a work or from the author responding to something. But I also fall into pits of blah where I don’t check things and then it snowballs. So, if you get a random comment back three months later... that’s why.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I was going to say "Whatever it Takes" which lives over on ff dot net, but I have been told how much "Before Proceeding Forward" has made people sad more than once, so I think it takes the title.

7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? Happiest? That's a bit tougher. I don't write too many sad things. But, I will, Lyrhia, so watch out. XD I'll say “Camp Elysian.” That was a pretty fluffy ending.

8. Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written? Bwahaha. Uh, no. Not since middle school. And none of those fics will ever see the light of day. We had OCs, Buffy, Farscape, Invisible Man, Sailor Moon crossovers. What wild imaginations we had.

9. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Not that I can recall. Maybe some mild criticism, but nothing serious enough to jog my memory. I tend to keep things pretty tame and safe though. I am not sure how I would handle actual hate. I don’t do well with drama or confrontations. I won’t argue with someone who came to troll and start a fight. Like, just don’t read something if you don’t like it. Why did you finish if it was so awful? 

10. Do you write smut? If so what kind? I have only written some PG-13 scenes. Although, I guess there was a scene in CTS that crossed that line. I'm rewriting that whole thing, though. Maybe it'll be more, maybe it'll tame down. I don’t ever anticipate writing anything too graphic. I don’t think I’d be very good at it.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No, ha. I don't think anyone would want to steal anything of mine. I did catch someone ripping off another person on ff dot net years ago, and I let the original author know. It's never happened to me, though.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I was supposed to have one translated, but I don't think that ended up happening. If they choose to, they still have my permission. :)

13. Have you ever co-written a fic? See above: middle and high school hijinks. We had a folder, and we'd pass it around. Sometimes the person before you would write four lines, sometimes four pages. Twas wild. Nothing since then, though. Just working with some good betas. I’ve had many a good suggestion that I’ve definitely used.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Minako and Kunzite ^_______^

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I always finish. Even if it takes 12 years like “Whatever It Takes” did. XD I have several WIP ideas that I don't know if I'll ever start, but I always see a project through (well, besides that GW fic, but we don't need to talk about that).

16. What’s your writing strengths? Eeeeeerm. I don't know. I'm decent at writing short things. I am better with exposition and writing character's inner thoughts.  Words are hard.

17. What’s your writing weaknesses? This is easier, ha. Self-deprecation is always easier than singing praises about myself. 

I have a hard time writing longer fics, although, I continually try to write them anyway. ^^; I think a lot of that has to do with being able to stay focused on an idea long enough for it to feel cohesive. I will write for a few days, and then not pick something up for a month or two. I'm not great at descriptions and setting scenes. I usually end up like pushing what's going on forward, like, hey this is happening! And end up forgetting to describe things that may make the reader feel more connected and understand what’s going on. Writing those things is just not interesting to me, although I know it is important. ^^; I usually have to fix it with a heavy editing hand. I am trying to do better. That’s all you can do, though! Recognize a weakness, and do a little better next time.

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic? I don't really care. I've only seen it in instances where it wasn't a problem. Like, two characters meet, and we realize they don't speak the same language, but maybe one realizes it and switches so they can converse. I've never seen someone just write dialogue between two people and leave me to go find a translating service. I am not bilingual, although I wish I were, so something like that would probably turn me away from reading something. 

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Sailor Moon, for sure.

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? Ah, now this is hard. I guess I had the most fun writing Return of Sailor V, and Camp Elysian. But they are both very silly at times. Of course, my current SMMB fic is really fun, too. It's gotta be a three way tie there I guess.

All 3 fics are different standalones hehe- I love how the titles sound too!!! They’re my favourite titles of the lot xD 

Absinthe & Ambrosia is a Hyunjin fic for my angst fic collection: Barista and cafe owner Hyunjin meets Mafia boss MC by chance, and then multiple times on purpose. Their lives couldn’t be more different, but they keep gravitating towards each other. What could it possibly be?

Hellfire & Holy Water is a standalone Seungmin fic, a supernatural enemies to lovers, if you will xD : Vampire Seungmin has been alive for way too long and he wants somebody to dispose of him. Who better to approach than the exact creatures lore dictates to be their opposite in all ways that matter- the Fae. In specific, MC. 

There’s this super violent( verbally) dynamic these two develop that i enjoyed writing wayyy too much xD xD 

Spite & Stardust... oh man, this is my baby. This drabble is part of something much, much MUCH bigger than it and I’m waiting until the whole project is completed before announcing it so it will be posted properly but FOR NOW , SNIP SNIPS

2020 Wrap-Up and 2021 Wishes

I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to do this or not, but I decided, why not? Even though this year was pretty wild for everyone in various ways, I want to celebrate my writing progress and accomplishments, and share with you what I wish for in 2021.

I’ve already posted a similar post on Reddit, although this one has a more detailed breakdown and includes my fic titles! I won’t link any of the fics mentioned, but you can visit my FFN or AO3 pages to find them. Preview: I wrote a good amount of words, got some nice progress on some long fics, churned out dozens of ficlets!! Plus: What’s on my fic mind for 2021, and a short bit about other personal wins.

Before I ramble with numbers, I think we can all agree that we should say goodbye to 2020 this way:

Now, the numbers you’ll see are close approximations to how much I’ve written this year. I’m including works that I’ve published on AO3, FFN, Tumblr, and Reddit, and also works unpublished (and will post probably next year).

So, here it is:

Total Wordcount: 107,662 words!

Dang, I wrote a lot more than I thought. I think there was one year that I wrote 200,000 in a year and I’ve always set that number as my standard. But I’m still pretty happy with this year’s number! I think I’ll make 100K my “soft goal” for 2021 given how topsy-turvy life can go but it would be awesome to hit 200K again :)

And now, we break it down:

Completed Works (54,432 words)

2 Multi-Chaptered Fics (10,353 words) 

Both happen to be Sorato! I posted the last chapter of The Sound of His Goodbye back in March (I started the fic late 2019), and I posted all of The Last One Wins towards the end of November. Both gave me reminders earlier and later on in the year that I can complete fics, haha! It’s possible!!! \o/

38 Ficlets/Scenes (19,667 words) 

“Ficlets” don’t typically have a wordcount but are generally less than 1,000 words. I’d have to say that the impact of quitting my job, moving back home, and the pandemic brought on major changes and responsibilities that I had to adapt to. Simpler, smaller scale ideas were easier on my basket case of a mind and kept me writing, and that is most likely why for most of the year my inspiration was more drawn toward different little scenes. I got to write for and explore six new fandoms outside of Digimon which is cool!

When I say “scenes,” I mean those that either didn’t fit in the (slightly) larger works I’ve published, or those for future projects (which technically shouldn’t be counted as “complete” but I had to stick them somewhere :P).

9 One-Shots (24,412 words)

Day 6 Prompt of Takari Week just barely made it to be counted as a One-Shot, but the rest in this category are all Taiora: six for Taiora Week, as well as The Princess and the Dragon, and Colors in Distance. The Color Shot was actually sitting unfinished in my drafts for a few months so I’m glad I found the motivation to finish it before the year’s end. The other fics were inspired by prompts with deadlines - this was the first year I’ve participated and completed those and I’m happy I did them! 

Works in Progress (53,230 words)

I’ve posted one new chapter each for Digital Recovery (4,770 words) and  Tsukiakari (2,292 words) and I had the hope of working more on both of these this year! But you know, this year was tough (see also why I threw so many ficlets at my readers). I had three huge ongoing longfics and I made the decision to set these aside and put my main focus on one of those so as not to overwhelm myself. These fics are mostly planned out. They just need to be written more! We’ve got a long way to go with both of these.

Just One Drink (10,131 words) was.. probably my most popular fic this year, lol. I don’t see this one being too long (I would be surprised if it goes past 50K) but I see myself continue to update this next year. ;) 

And let’s talk about The Spark of Dawn (DoreDore Adventure Part II) (24,316 words). This was my chosen longfic to focus on this year, as evidenced by the wordcount, and even the number of chapters I’ve posted - three with 10,659 words total. This fic also carried me through July’s Camp NaNoWriMo where I reached my word count goal of 12,000 words. I think two chapters from that event ended up being posted, and there are still 13,657 words��� worth of content yet to be published. Overall, I think half of this story has been written out (including the content I haven’t posted yet) but that being said, this fic remains as one of my priorities to finish before moving along to my other WIPs!

2021 Wishes: My main wish is for me to *keep writing*!

I’m already making some pretty elaborate spreadsheets for myself to help track my personal writing and reader stats. Hopefully they help motivate me in my writing progress in 2021! 

Toward the end of the year, I felt the need to “clear out” my plot bunnies folder and realized that fics from few ideas weren’t going to be as long as I initially thought. That’s where The Last One Wins came from, as well as The Girl Who Stands Out. I think once the latter is all written out, I will work more on DoreDore and see where it goes.

I want to tackle my “Write Your Melody” prompts, because since I’ve written them I feel obligated to. XD I’m sure there will be room for more ficlets and one-shots in next year’s endeavors; while it’s ideal to work on one big longfic until it’s done, I know for a fact that I’ll need writing breaks along the way.

Other Personal Wins (Not Writing-Related): This year, left a job and living situation that took a toll on my mental health. I also started to learn R and SQL programming languages. I was asked to be a moderator of one of my favorite communities! I made new friendships and a few of my friendships grew. And I found joy and comfort in things I hadn’t been able to in years’ past. I had a fair share of rough moments this year, but looking back at my small wins gave me reminders of the good I have. <3

I hope to continue remembering to take time to breathe and rest, and keep talking to my friends and loved ones. Many of my wishes are for long-term goals/projects in general, but rather than setting year-end deadlines, I want to focus on just working on them, my efforts varying between chipping away at them little by little, or hardcore-drop-everything-and-spend-the-weekend.

7. how many fandoms have you written fanfiction for

Um, according to ao3, 11. but that’s not the full picture because ive def written things but not completed them, therefore i didn’t post them. 

I have 16 folders for different fandoms plus a Misc folder that contains at least 2 other fandoms i’ve written for so. at least 18 fandoms i’ve, like, started fic in (tho in some cases im sure its just a tiny scribble and in others it’s like 80k out of what would be a 90k fic sdfhksj) 

10. what’s a trope you’ve never read

ooh. interesting. I have literally no clue, hoops... Ive read so much shit. 

i don’t know if i’ve ever actually read, erm, A/B/O because i have very little interest in it but i also might have just out of curiosity sake before being like “ah nope” ??

you’re the second person to ask me that sdfkhsfj. first i said Hurt w No Comfort/ Angst with No Comfort

again, i don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum or like put down tropes, but the other thing that comes to mind is hanahaki disease? it’s just, like, sad, and a bit odd to me. For semi obvious reasons if you know anything about me, i’m not a fan of genuinely unrequited feelings, like, they can be unrequited for a while but by the end of the fic i want my ship together XD 

so like hanahaki is just. not my thing. i wouldn’t ever elect to read it. i don’t know if i’d say “hate” but, yeah

40. what made you get into fanfiction in the first place?

ahaha......... i lowkey started this story in the last ask i got as an answer to 23! at some point as a pretty young child, I stumbled upon pokemon fanfiction

at this point i already shipped Misty and Ash without knowing what it was called, and I already had a wild, intense imagination, so when i discovered you could just. write stories. about your fav characters/ships...? 

i started doing it shortly after lol. one of my first fics featured, like, a slumber party between all the girls on pokemon (Misty, May, Dawn) and lots of author’s notes. it was abandoned after like, idk, 6 short chapters??
