Neighborhood Self Portraits

So I was thinking about how my kids would draw themselves, and thus!

Marnie is fine at drawing and probably has some old, but nice oil pastels she uses sometimes.

Grover is not good at drawing. He does stick figures. He always draws himself with the circle body though. He probably borrowed colored pencils from Penny or Jonesy.

Deirdre likes to draw herself on the board with chalk. She’s goofy, and her art is one of the only things she doesn’t care to organize or make perfect. It’s a nice coping mechanism for her.

Jonesy exclusively does crayon scribble. He has tried to get better and never will. So this is how his art will look! Forever! And he’s gotta accept that.

Paulette draws in pencil and sharpie! He gets self conscious about their fuzz so they never include it, and she isn’t good at drawing stars, so she does the flower shape for the tips of her antennae. If they were in the modern era, she’d 100% have the sailor moon art style.

Antoni, like most things he does in life, draws for fun and the mess of it. He starts with base shapes in Dandy’s nice markers and goes over it with a heavy pencil. I think his room probably has art supplies on the floor next to his skates and various games.

Minerva took portrait painting classes so she has a more painterly style. I took inspiration from Monet. She doesn’t think she draws good because she struggles with color differences.

Photoshop overlay layers who? Dr. Topps is Not good at drawing. He colors over images in textbooks with sharpie. He has a grand old time.
