'You gave me something to lose'
Joel Miller x f!reader

summary: Joel is afraid of losing you.
wc: 4k>
warnings: angst, mentions of panic attacks, fluff. Messy writing cause this is an old draft.
a/n: this was on my drafts for so long so I'm posting this as a gift because I'm going to London for the next two weeks and I won't be very active on here. So once I return, I promise I'll write the pendant things and requests I have. I hope you like this one. Happy reading 💌

Joel didn’t fear anything, not dying nor being alone or even broke.
Not the clickers, not darkness, but you.
when his mission to take Ellie to the fireflies became into caring for the teen, he felt panicked.
And when he learned he had fallen deeply in love with you, you gave him something to lose.
And he was frightened.
Joel had always been a fortress, walls built high and strong to keep out the pain and loss he had endured. But now, those walls were crumbling. Each moment he spent with you, each secret you both had shared, each tender touch, chipped away at the defenses he had so meticulously constructed.
Since the day Joel met you at the QZ in Boston, you had stolen something from him. He didn’t decipher what back then, but every time you weren’t on his sight, a knot formed on his stomach. Every time he caught a glimpse of you, his blood rushed into his cheeks.
And God, every single time you smiled at him, he could find a reason to keep surviving in this world, again.
And that’s why when you had decided to go after him, when he and Tess took Ellie with them to the fireflies. He had made up his mind, between the anger and tinted loved was feeling for you right at that moment, he had decided he was going to protect you more than anything or anyone. Even when you got on his nerves.
The journey to the fireflies was grueling. The roads were treacherous, infested with clickers and hunters. Every step was a battle, every night a gamble. But Joel was relentless. He led the way with a grim determination, always keeping you and Ellie close. The tension was palpable, a silent acknowledgment of the danger that lurked in every shadow.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the desolate landscape, you found a moment of respite. The group set up camp in an abandoned building, its crumbling walls offering a semblance of shelter. Joel, ever vigilant, took the first watch.
You approached him, the flickering firelight casting dancing shadows across his weathered face. He looked up as you neared, his eyes softening slightly. “You should get some rest,” he said, his voice a low rumble.
You shook your head, sitting down beside him. “I can’t sleep. Too much on my mind.”
Joel glanced at you, the hint of a smile playing on his lips. “Yeah, I get that.” There was a pause, a comfortable silence settling between you. “You know,” he began, his voice barely above a whisper, “I never thought I’d feel this way again. Not after everything.”
You looked at him, searching his eyes. “What do you mean?”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I’ve…” he paused, “Never mind.”
You furrowed your brow, sensing the weight of his unspoken words. “Joel, you can talk to me. Whatever it is, I’m here.”
He looked away, his jaw tightening. “It’s just… it’s hard to explain.” He paused again, just a few seconds, lifting his gaze up to yours “Why did you followed us three?” he asked.
The question caught you off guard, but you didn’t hesitate in your response. “I didn’t follow all of you. I followed you.”
“Why?”
“Because back in the QZ there wasn’t a life after you” you confessed, “Life sucks in there, but without you it would be worse.”
Joel’s eyes widened slightly, the vulnerability of your words hitting him harder than he expected. He stared at you, trying to process the depth of your feelings. “I never knew…”
“Of course you didn’t,” you interrupted softly. “You’ve always been so focused on surviving, on protecting Tess and yourself, that you’ve never stopped to see how much you mean to people. How much you mean to me.”
He shook his head, struggling to find the right words. “Good to know it because I feel the same about you.”
Your heart skipped a beat, his admission filling you with warmth. "Joel..."
He took a deep breath, his eyes locking onto yours with an intensity that made your heart race. “When I met you, I didn’t think I could care for anyone again. But you... you changed that.”
You felt tears welling up in your eyes, but you held them back, not wanting to break the cosmic moment “I’m glad. Because I can’t imagine going through this without you.”
Joel reached out, his hand cupping your cheek, his thumb gently brushing away a stray tear that had escaped. “Now can you, please go to sleep?”
“Can I sleep here?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.
Joel’s expression softened, and without hesitation, he nodded. “Yeah, you can.”
He shifted, making room for you to lie down beside him. As you settled in, the warmth of his body next to yours was both comforting and grounding. You felt his arm wrap around you, pulling you closer, and you snuggled into his embrace, feeling safe and protected.
“Thank you,” you murmured, your voice muffled against his chest.
“For what?” he asked softly, his breath warm against your hair.
“For letting me in. For trusting me.”
Joel pressed a gentle kiss to the top of your head. “I trust you more than anyone. And I’m glad you’re here. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
You smiled, the weight of the world feeling just a little bit lighter in his arms. “We’ll figure it out together. “As the night deepened, the sounds of the wilderness outside seemed distant, the crackling fire casting a gentle glow around you. Joel’s steady heartbeat and the rise and fall of his chest were the lullaby that finally coaxed you into sleep. In his arms, you found a peace you hadn’t known in a long time.
He felt his heart giving up for you.
That had happened a few months ago.
And Joel had become afraid. He found himself lying awake almost every night, staring at the sky and the stars, a storm of thoughts raging in his mind. What if something happened to you? What if he couldn't protect you? The thought of losing you, of seeing the light fade from your eyes, was a nightmare he couldn't bear. It was a fear far greater than anything he had ever faced; greater than the harsh realities of the post-apocalyptic world he had navigated for so long.
During the day, he tried to push these fears aside, trying to focus on the present. But it was impossible. Every smile you gave him reminded him of what he stood to lose. Every time you reached for his hand, his heart ached with the weight of his love for you and the dread of its potential loss.
He watched you with Ellie, how you cared for her, and how you brought joy and laughter into her bleak world. He saw how you made her feel safe and loved, and it only made his feelings for you deepen. Ellie, too, had become a part of this fragile, makeshift family, and his love for both of you intertwined, creating a web of vulnerability he couldn't escape.
The wind howled outside, carrying with it the bitter cold of the frozen winter night. Inside the small, dilapidated cabin, a fire crackled in the hearth, casting a warm glow across the room. You, Joel, and Ellie huddled close to the fire, trying to fend off the chill that seemed to seep through the very walls.
Ellie poked at the fire with a stick, her eyes reflecting the dancing flames. "What do you think it’ll be like, Joel?" she asked, her voice filled with a mix of hope and uncertainty.
Joel looked up from the map he was studying, his eyes softening as he met Ellie’s gaze. "What do you mean?"
"After the cure," she said. "When this is all over. What do you think it’ll be like?"
Joel leaned back against the rough wooden wall, his mind drifting to a time long past. "I reckon things will be...different. Better, maybe. People could rebuild, start over. There might be schools again, towns with shops, places where kids can just be kids."
Ellie smiled at the thought, her imagination running wild with possibilities. "I want to learn to play guitar," she said. "Like you, Joel. You promised to teach me, remember?"
Joel chuckled softly, a rare sound in these harsh times. "Yeah, I remember. We'll find one, and I'll teach you. Maybe we can even have a little concert, you and me."
You watched the exchange, a warm feeling spreading through your chest. "What about you, Joel? What's something you’d want to do?"
Joel hesitated, his eyes flicking to you. "I... I’d like to have a place of our own. Somewhere safe. Maybe a little house with a garden. We could grow our own food, live a quiet life. Just...be together."
You smiled, your heart swelling with affection. "That sounds nice," you said softly. "Really nice."
The conversation drifted into a comfortable silence, each of you lost in thoughts of a hopeful future. You leaned against Joel, the warmth of his body a comforting presence. His arm wrapped around you instinctively, pulling you closer.
Ellie yawned and stretched out on the floor next to the fire. "I think I'm going to get some sleep," she said, her voice already heavy with exhaustion.
"Good idea," Joel replied. "I’ll keep the watch."
Ellie nodded and pulled her blanket tightly around herself, quickly drifting off to sleep. You and Joel stayed by the fire, the quiet crackling of the flames the only sound in the room.
"Do you really think there’s hope for a cure?" you asked quietly, your head resting on his shoulder.
Joel sighed, his fingers gently stroking your arm. "I don't know," he admitted. "But I have to believe there is. For Ellie. For you."
You tilted your head up to look at him, your eyes searching his. "You’ve been through so much, Joel. Yet you still find it in you to hope. That’s incredible."
He shook his head slightly. "It's not hope," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's you.”
Joel’s panic attacks had become more frequent as the days passed. Every quiet moment seemed to stretch into an eternity of worry and fear. He could feel the weight of his responsibilities pressing down on him, and the constant fear that he wouldn’t be able to protect you or Ellie gnawed at him relentlessly.
When the three of you had finally arrived at Jackson, Joel’s thoughts were a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Jackson was a sanctuary, a place where you could all be safe, but his fears didn’t dissipate. If anything, they grew stronger. The more secure the surroundings, the more he worried about what could go wrong.
Jackson was bustling with life, a stark contrast to the desolate landscapes they had traversed. Children played in the streets, people worked in gardens, and there was a sense of community and hope that was almost overwhelming. Joel watched it all with a heavy heart, his mind racing.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that he was going to die, that some unseen danger would take him away from you and Ellie. The thought of leaving you unprotected was unbearable. That’s when the idea started to form: maybe the best way to protect you was to leave you in Jackson, where you’d be safe. Where you could even find someone younger than him to kept you alive.
Joel sought out his brother. He found Tommy in the community hall, finishing up some late-night paperwork. The room was quiet, the only sound the scratch of Tommy’s pen against the paper.
"Tommy," Joel said, his voice low and strained.
Tommy looked up, immediately sensing the urgency in his brother’s tone. "Joel, what’s going on? You look like you’ve seen a ghost."
Joel took a deep breath, his hands trembling. He sat down across from Tommy, his eyes filled with anguish. "I need to talk to you. It’s about Ellie and... and my….my " He couldn’t find the words to describe you. Calling you his lover wasn’t a proper word to use, it felt so weak. There was not nickname that could make justice to what you meant to him.
“Your girlfriend?” Tommy asked.
Joel nodded.
Tommy set his pen down, giving Joel his full attention. "Alright, tell me what’s on your mind."
Joel’s voice cracked as he spoke. "I don’t know how much longer I can do this. The fear... it’s eating me alive. I’m so scared something’s going to happen to them, and I won’t be able to protect them."
Tommy’s expression softened. "Joel, you’re in Jackson now. It’s safe here. We’ve got walls, people who care about each other. You don’t have to do this alone."
Joel shook his head, tears welling up in his eyes. "You don’t understand. I feel like I’m going to die, like something’s going to take me away from them. And then what? What happens to them if I’m gone?"
Tommy reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Joel’s shoulder. "We’ll take care of them, Joel. You’re not alone in this."
Joel’s tears began to fall, his voice choked with emotion. "I’m asking you to take Ellie with you. Keep her safe. And let my baby stay here in Jackson. She deserves a life that’s not filled with running and fear."
Tommy’s eyes widened in shock. "Joel, are you sure about this? You’re talking about leaving them behind."
"I’m not leaving them," Joel said, his voice trembling. "I’m trying to protect them. They’ll be safer without me."
Tommy sighed, his heart breaking for his brother. "And what about you, Joel? What happens to you if you leave?"
Joel wiped his tears, trying to steady himself. "I’ll find a way to keep going. I just need to know they’re safe. That’s all that matters."
Tommy nodded slowly, understanding the depth of Joel’s fear and love. "Alright, Joel. If this is what you think is best, I’ll take care of them. But you need to talk to them first. They deserve to know why you’re doing this."
Joel nodded, his heart heavy with the weight of his decision. "I will. Thank you, Tommy."
Tommy pulled Joel into a tight embrace; his voice filled with emotion. "We’re family, Joel. We take care of each other."
Joel clung to his brother, the tears flowing freely now. He knew the conversation with you and Ellie would be one of the hardest things he’d ever have to do, but he also knew it was necessary. The fear of losing you both was too great to ignore, and he hoped that, in time, you would understand why he had to make this choice.
Joel walked slowly to Ellie’s room, his heart heavy with the burden of what he was about to do. He knew this conversation would be one of the hardest of his life, but he also believed it was necessary. He took a deep breath and knocked softly on her door.
“Come in,” Ellie’s voice called from inside.
He opened the door and stepped into the room. Ellie was sitting on her bed, reading one of the books she had found in Jackson’s library. She looked up and smiled when she saw him, but her smile faded when she noticed the serious expression on his face.
“Joel, what’s wrong?” she asked, her brows furrowing with concern.
Joel closed the door behind him and sat down on the edge of the bed. He looked at Ellie, her young face full of life and determination, and it made his heart ache.
“Ellie, we need to talk,” he said softly, struggling to find the right words.
Ellie set her book aside and gave him her full attention. “What’s going on?”
Joel took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly. “Ellie, I’ve been thinking a lot about our journey, about everything we’ve been through. And... about what comes next.”
Ellie shook her head, her voice rising with emotion. “Joel, no. We’re supposed to stick together. We’re a team.”
Joel looked down, unable to meet her eyes. “Ellie, I’m not sure I can keep doing this. The fear... it’s too much. I’m scared something’s going to happen to you, and I won’t be able to protect you.”
Ellie reached out, placing a hand on his arm. “We protect each other, Joel. That’s how we’ve always done it.”
Joel swallowed hard, his voice breaking. “I’m asking Tommy to take you to the fireflies. He’ll keep you safe until you arrive to the hospital.”
Ellie’s eyes filled with tears, and she shook her head fiercely. “No, Joel. I’m not going without you. We’ve come this far together, and I’m not leaving you.”
Joel’s heart ached at her words, but he forced himself to continue. “Ellie, you need to understand. I’m not... I’m not your father. I can’t be the one to keep you safe forever.”
The words hung heavy in the air, and Ellie’s tears began to fall. “You’re the closest thing I’ve ever had to a father, Joel. Don’t you get that? Fuck”
Joel’s own tears threatened to spill over, but he steeled himself. “But you’re not my daughter and I’m not your father.”
Ellie shook her head, her voice filled with desperation. “No, Joel. Please. Don’t do this. We need you.”
Joel reached out, cupping her face in his hands. “I need you to trust me, Ellie. This is the best way to keep you safe.”
Ellie pulled away from his touch, her face a mix of anger and heartbreak. “I don’t want to be safe if it means losing you. You and her are all I have, Joel.”
Joel stood up, his heart shattering at her words. “I’m sorry, Ellie. But this is how it has to be.”
He turned and walked toward the door, each step feeling like a lead weight. He paused at the doorway, looking back at Ellie one last time.
With that, he walked out of the room, closing the door softly behind him. He leaned against the wall, his heart breaking at the sound of Ellie’s muffled sobs. He knew this was one of the hardest decisions he had ever made, but he believed it was the right one.
As he stood there, trying to compose himself, he heard footsteps approaching. You appeared at the end of the hallway, having heard the conversation. Your eyes met his, and in that moment, he saw the same mix of anger, hurt, and confusion that Ellie had shown.
You approached Joel slowly, your face a mix of anger and hurt. He could see the questions in your eyes, the need for an explanation that would make sense of the pain he had caused.
"Joel," you said, your voice trembling. "What are you doing?"
Joel looked down, unable to meet your gaze. "I'm trying to keep you both safe. You and Ellie. This place, Jackson... it's where you can have a real life."
Your eyes narrowed, and you took a step closer. "And you think abandoning us is the way to do that? How could you even consider leaving us behind?"
Joel sighed, his shoulders slumping. "It's not abandoning you. It's making sure you're protected. If something happens to me—"
You cut him off, your voice rising with emotion. "Don't you get it, Joel? We need you. Ellie needs you. I need you. You're the reason we've made it this far. You can't just walk away."
Joel's eyes were filled with pain as he looked up at you. "I can't shake the fear that I'm going to die, that I won't be there when you need me most. I thought if I left, you'd be safer."
You stepped even closer, your anger giving way to desperation. "Safer? Joel, we've faced everything together. We protect each other. How can you think we'd be better off without you? How can you think I would be better off without you?""
Joel's voice was barely a whisper. "Because I can't bear the thought of losing you.”
Your heart ached at his words, but you knew you had to make him understand. You reached out, taking his hands in yours. "Joel, I love you. I need you with me, not just for protection, but because you're my love. Leaving me won't keep me safe; it'll break me."
Joel looked at you, tears welling in his eyes. "I don't know if I can do this. The fear is... it's too much."
You squeezed his hands, your voice gentle but firm. "We'll face it together, Joel. Just like we always have. You're not alone in this. Please, don't leave me."
Joel pulled you into a tight embrace, his tears finally spilling over. "I'm so scared," he admitted, his voice choked with emotion.
You held him close, your own tears falling. "I know, Joel. But we're stronger together. I need you. Ellie and I need you"
As you stood there, holding each other in the quiet of the hallway, Joel felt the weight of his fear begin to lift. The love and determination in your voice gave him the strength he needed to keep going. At least for a bit.
After a long moment, Joel pulled back slightly, looking into your eyes. "I'm sorry," he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I was trying to do the right thing.”
You nodded; your heart full of relief. "We'll figure it out, Joel. Together."
Joel took a deep breath, cupping your face in his hands. “I love you so much,” he said, pecking your lips.
Your heart swelled with emotion as you returned his kiss, a soft, reassuring touch. “I love you too, Joel,” you whispered, your voice steady with conviction.
Joel rested his forehead against yours, closing his eyes as if trying to etch this moment into his memory. “I just don’t want to lose you or Ellie. I don’t know what I’d do if something happened to either of you.”
You stroked his cheek, your thumb brushing away a stray tear. “We’re not going anywhere, Joel. We’ve made it through so much already, and we’ll keep making it through. Together.”
He nodded, pulling you into a tighter embrace, the warmth of his body a comforting reminder of his presence. “Together,” he repeated, his voice more confident now.
You pulled back slightly from the embrace, looking up into Joel’s eyes. "Come on," you said softly, taking his hand. "Let’s get cleaned up. It’s been a long day."
He nodded, allowing you to lead him down the hall to the bathroom. The room was small, but it had a functioning shower—one of the many luxuries you had come to appreciate in this place. You turned on the water, adjusting the temperature until it was just right.
Joel stood there, watching you with an exhaustion and adoration. He started to undress, his movements were slow You did the same, your eyes meeting his with every piece of clothing that fell to the floor. There was an unspoken understanding between you. Both of you bared int front of each other, stealing glances of your bodies in display.
Once you were both undressed, you stepped into the shower together. The warm water cascaded over your bodies, washing away the grime and tension of the day. You reached for the soap, lathering it between your hands before gently running them over Joel’s shoulders and back.
He sighed, leaning into your touch. "You don’t have to do this," he murmured.
"I want to," you replied, your voice tender. "Let me take care of you." You said, pressing a kiss on his wet shoulder.
You continued to wash him, your hands moving in soothing, circular motions. The warmth of the water and the intimacy of the moment began to ease the tension in his muscles. When you reached his hair, you took the shampoo and began to work it into a lather, your fingers massaging his scalp.
Joel closed his eyes, a soft groan escaping his lips. "That feels nice," he admitted.
You smiled, continuing to wash his hair with gentle care. "Good. You deserve to relax."
After rinsing the shampoo from his hair, you handed him the soap. "Your turn," you said with a playful smile.
He took the soap, his hands surprisingly gentle as he began to wash your shoulders and back. The feel of his strong, calloused hands against your skin was comforting, a reminder of how much you meant to each other. He took his time, his touch tender and affectionate, showing the love he felt for you.
When he reached your hair, he repeated the process, his fingers working the shampoo through your locks with the same care you had shown him. You closed your eyes, savoring the sensation of his hands in your hair and the warmth of the water cascading over you.
For a while, the two of you stood there, simply enjoying the closeness and the rare moment of peace. The world outside might be filled with danger and uncertainty, but here, in this small bathroom, there was only love.
When you were both clean, you turned off the water and reached for a towel, wrapping it around Joel’s shoulders before taking another for yourself. You helped each other dry off, the intimacy of the moment deepening the existent bond between you.
Joel looked at you, his eyes filled with gratitude and love. "Thank you," he said softly.
You cupped his face in your hands, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips. "We’re in this together, Joel. Always."
He nodded, pulling you into a tight embrace. "Together," he echoed.
As you both stood there in the warmth of the bathroom, wrapped in towels and each other's embrace, the bond between you felt stronger than ever. The fear and uncertainty of the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the love and trust you had for each other.
Joel kissed the top of your head and took your hand, leading you back to the bedroom. The soft glow of the lamp illuminated the bedroom, casting a warm, golden hue over the room. You both moved slowly, savoring the peaceful moment.
You helped Joel into bed, making sure he was comfortable before slipping in beside him. He pulled you close, his arms wrapped protectively around you. The simple act of being in his arms felt like the safest place in the world.
Joel tilted his head slightly, his lips brushing against your forehead as he spoke. "I love you so much," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "More than I can ever put into words."
You looked up at him, your heart swelling at the raw honesty in his eyes. "I love you too, Joel. So much."
He took a deep breath, his eyes never leaving yours. "I don't think I've ever felt this way before. I mean, caring this much for someone. Not since Sarah. And it's... it's scary. But it's also the most wonderful thing I’ve ever felt."
Your heart ached for him at the mention of Sarah, but you knew how important it was for Joel to express his feelings. You placed a gentle hand on his cheek, your thumb brushing against his stubble. "It's okay to be scared, Joel. But you're not alone in this. We’re in it together."
Joel nodded, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "You've given me something I thought I’d lost forever. Hope. A reason to keep fighting. And I want you to know that I’ll do everything I can to protect you, to make sure we have a future together."
You leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to his lips. "We’ll protect each other. And we’ll build that future, one day at a time."
He wrapped his arms around you tighter, holding you close as if trying to memorize the feeling of having you in his arms. "I promise you, I'll never let anything happen to you. You and Ellie mean everything to me."
You snuggled closer, your head resting on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. "And you mean everything to us, Joel. We're stronger together."
Joel sighed contentedly, his fingers gently tracing patterns on your back. "Thank you for standing by me, for believing in me. I don't know what I’d do without you."
You smiled against his chest, feeling the warmth of his love envelop you. "You'll never have to find out, because I'm not going anywhere."
With that, you both drifted into a peaceful sleep, the worries of the world outside momentarily forgotten. In each other's arms, you found solace and strength, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead together.
Hours later, Joel woke up in the middle of the night, the room shrouded in darkness. He instinctively reached out for you, but his hand found only empty space. Panic surged through him, his heart pounding as he sat up, his eyes scanning the room.
"Baby, where are you?" he muttered, throwing the blankets aside as he swung his legs over the edge of the bed. He quickly pulled on his pants and a shirt, his movements hurried and frantic. The fear of losing you, so deeply ingrained in his mind, took hold as he rushed out of the bedroom.
He moved swiftly down the hallway, his mind racing with worst-case scenarios. Had something happened? Had someone taken you? The thoughts were unbearable. He reached the top of the stairs and bolted down them, nearly stumbling in his haste.
When he reached the bottom, he paused, his eyes darting around the living room. Relief washed over him as he saw you sitting on the couch, a cup of tea cradled in your hands. You looked up, startled by his sudden appearance.
"Joel, what’s wrong?" you asked, concern etching your features.
He let out a shaky breath, his heart still racing. "I woke up and you weren’t there," he said, his voice hoarse with emotion. "I thought something had happened to you."
You set your tea down on the table and stood up, crossing the room to him. "I’m sorry," you said softly, reaching out to touch his arm. "I couldn’t sleep, so I came down to make some tea. I didn’t mean to scare you."
He pulled you into a tight embrace, his arms wrapping around you as if to reassure himself that you were really there. "It’s okay," he murmured into your hair. "I just...I can’t bear the thought of losing you."
You held him just as tightly, feeling the intensity of his emotions. "You won’t lose me, Joel. I promise."
He nodded, pulling back slightly to look into your eyes. "I know. It’s just...sometimes the fear gets the better of me."
You cupped his face in your hands, your thumbs brushing over his cheeks. "I understand," you said gently. "But we’re safe here. We have each other."
He sighed, the tension slowly easing from his body. "Yeah, we do."
"Come on," you said, taking his hand and leading him to the couch. "Sit with me for a while. The tea is still warm."
He followed you, sitting down beside you on the couch. You picked up your cup and handed it to him. "Here, takes a sip. It’ll help you relax."
He took the cup, his hands still slightly trembling. He sipped the tea, the warmth spreading through him, helping to calm his nerves. "Thanks," he said, his voice steadier.
You leaned against him, your head resting on his shoulder. "We’ll get through this, Joel. Together."
He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer. "Yeah, we will."
The two of you sat there in the quiet of the night, the warmth of the tea and the comfort of each other’s presence soothing the fears that had momentarily overwhelmed him. In that moment, Joel felt a renewed sense of peace, knowing that as long as you were by his side, he could face anything the future held.
As the minutes passed, the tension in Joel's body melted away. He looked down at you, your eyes closed, content and calm. He pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead. "I love you," he whispered, the words carrying all the weight of his heart.
"I love you too," you replied softly, without opening your eyes.
Joel took another sip of the tea, its warmth soothing him from the inside out. The night was still and quiet, a rare tranquility enveloping your home. He gazed around the room, taking in the modest, yet comforting surroundings. This place, this sanctuary in Jackson, could become more than just a shelter. A home.
You snuggled closer to him, and Joel felt a profound sense of gratitude. For the first time in a long time, he allowed himself to truly believe in the possibility of a future filled with hope and love. The horrors of the past, the constant threats of the present, they all seemed a little more bearable with you by his side.
"We’ve been through so much," he said quietly, his fingers gently stroking your hair. "But sitting here with you, it makes it all worth it."
You opened your eyes and looked up at him, a soft smile playing on your lips. "We’ve found something real, Joel. Something worth fighting for. And no matter what comes our way, we’ll face it together."
Joel nodded, feeling the truth of your words settle deep within him. "Together," he echoed, his voice filled with conviction. "Always."
The two of you sat there in the stillness, the warmth of each other's presence a balm for your souls. Joel felt a sense of peace he hadn't known in years. With you, he had found a reason to hope, to believe in a better tomorrow.
As the night wore on, the exhaustion of the day began to catch up with him. You noticed his eyelids growing heavy and gently took the cup from his hands, setting it on the table. "Come on," you whispered, standing up and offering your hand. "Let’s get some rest."
Joel took your hand and allowed you to lead him back to the bedroom. The room was still bathed in the soft glow of the lamp, casting a warm light over the bed. You both slipped under the covers, and Joel pulled you close, your bodies fitting together perfectly.
With you in his arms, the fear and anxiety that had plagued him earlier faded away. The rhythm of your breathing, the steady beat of your heart against his chest, all served as a reminder of the love and strength you shared.
"Goodnight, Joel," you murmured, your voice filled with tenderness. "Goodnight," he replied, pressing a final kiss to your forehead.
As he closed his eyes, Joel felt a deep sense of contentment. No matter what the future held, he knew that with you by his side, he could face it all. Together, you had built something beautiful amidst the chaos, and that was something worth holding on to.
In the quiet darkness, with you in his arms, Joel finally allowed himself to drift into a peaceful sleep, dreaming of the life you would continue to build together, one filled with love, hope, and endless possibilities.

TIANA I was at Trinity and Jon's house getting things planned for Jey and my wedding soon. We were discussing what colors should be suitable for the wedding and what colors the guys and women should wear.
While we were doing that, I felt Gianna's kicks getting stronger by the second. I always felt worried that I might have her spend this time, but Jey would always tell me that she wasn't ready to come out yet.
But I knew that was most definitely ready to come out of me since the doctor said that she was positioned "sunny side up." So my water could break any day now.
"Are you to push out that baby girl?" Trinity asked.
"Phew, yes, girl, I am so ready to push her out. She's been kicking my damn bladder every single night." I said while rubbing my baby bump.
I heard her chuckle a bit, "Oh, girl, you'll be fine. Just wait until you start having contractions." I sighed while rolling my eyes at her.
"Bitch, imma be a champ throughout all of that, but like I told you, imma get that epidural." Trinity nodded her head in agreement.
That is what I going sticking with getting the epidural so I won't be able to feel the pain I had a huge fear of tearing while giving birth it happened to my mom when she had me so I pray that it doesn't happen when I have Gianna.
I felt my phone buzz, picking it up, seeing that Jey had texted me and was probably checking up on me and making sure I was good since I was in my 39th week of pregnancy.
Hubby🤍 sent a message. IMESSAGE 💬
Hubby🤍: hey, mama, I was just checking up on you, making sure you were doing good.
I smiled at the message and began texting him back.
Mamas🩷: I'm doing fine, Bubba; Gianna's kicks are getting stronger every second when she kicks.
Hubby🤍: you think you might go into labor today?
Mamas🩷: yeah, I believe so I'm not so sure even though the doctor told me that she faced up so Gianna might come.
Hubby🤍: well if that happens I'll make sure you have all the things you need ight?
Mamas🩷: Okay love 🫶🏼
Hubby🤍: ight then Ma, I'll see you after work tell Trin and Em I said wassup for me love you. ♥️
Mamas🩷: I will do that. I love you too.
I turned my attention to Trinity, who was showing me ideas for the wedding venue. I wanted it to be outside on the beach, where everyone could see the ocean swaying in the wind.
For Jey and I's wedding, I drew inspiration from Jon and Trinity's ceremony because I wanted it to be remarkable.
"I really like this, Trin, an outside wedding seeing the waves," I said, scrolling through some inspirational pictures.
"Where do you want to have it?" she asked, looking at me with curiosity. I nodded my head, determined to communicate that this was important to me. I really wanted this day to be unique for Jey as he embraced his culture.
"Yes, Trin, this is what I want. I want it to be special not only for me but also for him," I replied.
We agreed to have our wedding in Maui, Hawaii, and I was excited to share the planning process with Jey. Now, we just needed to figure out the guest list and our honeymoon plans.
'It's going to be perfect'
✧.* I spent the rest of the day at Trinity and Jon's house because I didn't want to go home. We were all watching an hour-long movie when I heard the door open. Jey came in with some food he must have picked up on his way home from work.
He hugged Trinity and greeted his brother with a fist bump before his eyes landed on me. He walked over and placed the food on the table. Leaning forward, he pressed his soft lips against mine, giving me a few sweet kisses before pulling away with a smile. I couldn't help but notice his grills; he always manages to look good, even after a long day at work.
"Hey, mamas, how are you feeling?" Jey asked while he took off his hoodie, exposing his abs a bit.
"I'm feeling okay; I'm just exhausted," I said, yawning.
"Well, before you fall asleep, let's eat some food, Okay?" I nodded, sitting up on the couch and grabbing the food that he had brought for everyone.
We all began eating our food together while watching the movie. As we were eating our food, I felt Jey's hand on my thigh, rubbing it as I made eye contact with him.
"Have you all decided where we are going to have our wedding?" I knew he was going to ask this question, which made me smile.
I nodded my head while calling for Trinity. She got up from the couch and came towards us. " What's up, girl?" I told her to show Jey where we would be having our wedding.
She pulled her phone out of her pocket, unlocked it, and showed Jey that we were going to Maui, Hawaii, for our wedding. I saw his face light up while smiling.
"This is so perfect, baby. You all put some thought into it. I love the idea." Hearing his approval of the idea brings joy to my heart. Honestly, he hugged Trinity while giving me a peck on the lips.
"Well, honestly, it was Tiana's idea to have the wedding in Hawaii. She wanted it to be special not only for the two of you but for you, too," Trinity said.
Jey nodded his head while messing up my hair like I was some little kid, which made me push him. After we finished eating our food, we watched the rest of the movie together.
Me and Jey were cuddling together on the couch as he was rubbing circles around my baby bump feeling Gianna's kicks, one of her kicks made me groan is pain I couldn't wait to push her out.
As we were doing that, I noticed my phone light up, and I saw Jey grabbing it for me so that I wouldn't have to reach over. When I unlocked it, I saw that Malakai's mother had sent me a message.
'God, doesn't she know when to quit?'
Mrs Jackson sent a message. IMESSAGE 💬
Mrs Jackson: so I heard that you're pregnant and engaged now? Wow, my son has to suffer in that jail cell all because of your lies. If you had understood him, this wouldn't have happened.
Tiana: Ma'am, respectfully, your son was fucking crazy and mentally ill, but I guess yall didn't care about that, especially after the fact when he put his fucking hands on me and almost fucking killed me. But I guess you're more delusional than I thought.
Mrs Jackson: little girl don't get smart with me, that Samoan man will do you worst.
Jey was reading our messages and smirking at the fact that Malakai's mother had said something about him while he took my phone. I wanted to protest, but I didn't. Instead, I just let him say what he needed to say.
Tiana: This is her fiancé I would advise you to put some fucking respect on my name ma'am and maybe; MAYBE If yall raised your son right and not a women beater him and Tiana probably would be still together right? But no yall didn't second I could never put my hands on her.
Mrs Jackson: DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT MY SON LIKE THAT.
Tiana: whomp, whomp, anyways, imma need you to stop harassing my fiancée when she's pregnant and doesn't need stress piled up on her that could harm our child, so take your problems somewhere else.
He handed me my phone back and kept his eyes glued to the TV as I read the text messages exchanged between him and Malakai's mom. I felt so lucky to have him in my life. The way he defended me was genuinely attractive.
I was fed up with his mother threatening me and spouting nonsense—like it was my fault that her son was mentally ill and that they should have done better as parents.
"You know... you're so sexy when you defend me, love?" I said, gently caressing his beard with my hands.
He smirked down at me, rubbing his thumb against my lips before speaking, "Yeah? I gotta defend you alofa; you know ion' play about you." His Samoan language sounded so sexy, rolling off his tongue like that.
He leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on my lips. Then, there were a few more kisses, and after that, it was a whole make-out session between us. Jey wrapped his hand around my throat, pulling me in more deeply into the kiss.
His tongue was swirling around my mouth, feeling his dick hardened behind me. We pulled away from each other as he got up from the couch, signaling that I should follow him upstairs to the guest bedroom.
Before I could do that I heard Jon, "ya'll are just nasty no wonder why you got knocked up." That's when Trinity popped him upside the head, telling him to mind his business as he pouted like a kid.
✧.* SMUT WARNING "Fuck Alofa, keep ridin' this dick for me." I was bouncing up and down on his dick, holding onto his shoulders for more support.
He kept gazing up at me while he tucked his bottom lip underneath his teeth, watching me devour his whole length inside of me.
He loved the way my pussy swallowed his entire length inside of me, grabbing me by the throat and firmly thrusting his hips up to match my movements.
"Joshhhh, shit," I moaned softly.
I rolled my eyes in the back of my head, throwing my head back in pleasure as I felt a sting on my left ass cheek. He pulled my face closer to his as he smashed his lips onto mine.
We were giving each other sloppy kisses while he was beating my guts in like no other, this was having me feel dizzy.
All you could hear was skins slapping against each other. Trin and Jon could probably hear what was happening right now.
We pulled away from each other as he wrapped his strong arms around my waist while being careful as he began pounding my shit, causing me to moan very loudly.
"Fuckkkkk, Joshhhuaaa." I moaned as he watched me fall apart.
"Give me this fucking pussy mamas, give it to daddy." He grunted while continuing to pound my wet cunt.
At this point, I couldn't even handle it anymore, wanting to push him away immediately, but my body wouldn't let me. He gave me wet kisses on the neck before sucking it like a vampire.
Leaving marks all over my neck, "la'u pusi lea alofa?" I couldn't even comprehend what he just asked me, earning a slap on my left ass cheek.
"Y-yes! This is yours, Tamā, all yours." His facial expression changed when I spoke his language; he didn't know that I'd been studying for a while now.
I kept bouncing on his dick, circling my hips around the tip, trying to spell out my name on it seeing his facial expressions turned up whenever I did it.
"Ioe e fai pea lena alofa leaga." He growled. I loved it when he spoke in his Samoan language, making him sound so good that it turned me on even more.
I started to feel that knot in my stomach, gazing down at him as he placed wet kisses on my chest, cupping both of my breast's in his hand and sucking on the nipples.
"Daddy..this dick feels so good nobody can do it like you do, Daddy." I moaned softly, running my fingers down his mullet.
"Mhm...yo' ass better know who run this shit, mama fuck I'm finna nut all in yo' shit." Jey groaned, giving my left ass cheek another slap.
"Keep bouncing on this dick; make me nut," I whined at the sensation that I was feeling, feeling all of my wetness coat his dick up well.
He let go of my throat and watched me throwing it down in circles as his hands were behind his head. I saw him rolling his eyes in the back of his head as I moan escaped his lips.
I bounced on it with determination feeling my orgasm coming, feeling his dick twitch inside of me, seeing him bending his knees some before gripping onto my waist and thrusting upwards at a speedy pace.
I gasped, hitting him in his chest and signaling him that I was going cum, "Cum on this fucking dick, mama, do it." Seeing his eyebrows furrowed a bit while encouraging me.
I felt his dick twitch again, this man was having me in a daze at this point making me feel miserable like he always do.
My orgasm took over me letting out a loud moan feeling myself releasing all over him, my creamy essence coating his dick up so well as he continued to pump in and out of me.
The substance was stringing along our skins, and we could hear nothing but sticky sounds as it separated into a gooey-like substance.
Jey gripped my hips tightly as he pushed his dick deeply inside of me, feeling his warm seeds, while he groaned in satisfaction, slowly continuing to thrust himself into me before pulling out.
SMUT OVER. I sat up, seeing his dick come out of me while He and I were panting heavily, gazing down at each other while smiling.
"Fuck, mama, you got some good ass pussy." Jey commented before gripping my ass cheeks.
"You know all of this is for you, baby," I replied, feeling my legs getting wobbly as I moved to the other side of the bed.
He sat up, leaning forward, and kissed me on the lips before standing up. My eyes watched him go inside the bathroom, hearing him turn on the water in the tub.
Coming back inside the room, he walked toward me, holding out his hand. "C'mon, my lady, let's go take a bath together." I smiled at him as I held his hand, going inside the bathroom with him.
✧.* JEY After Tiana and I took a bath together, we lay down in the bed, cuddling. She lay down on my chest, and my fingers trailed down her back, watching her sleep.
I couldn't believe I would be marrying this girl and that she was having our child, too. I adored her so much. I grabbed my phone, which was next to her, to make sure I didn't wake her up.
Scrolling through my social media before going to sleep, I saw that Kehlani hoe-ass texted me on Instagram since I've been blocking her new numbers or accounts that she had made to say some negative shit.
hisfavlani: can't we just try again Jey like c'mon uceyjucey: aye, imma need to leave me tf alone Lani hisfavlani: can't we just talk about it uceyjucey: hell naw so stop texting me or it'll be some problems hisfavlani: fuck you Jey.
I felt Tiana shifting a bit on my chest, and I saw her eyes flutter open as she got up from the bed and went straight to the bathroom. I didn't really think much of it, as it was a normal thing for her to do.
I heard the toilet flushed as she opened the door seeing her face expression it looked like she was in pain but didn't want to show it, she laid back down my chest trying to go back to sleep.
She sat up again, holding onto her belly, which made me concerned as I got up from the bed and kneeled at her level.
"Mamas? You okay? What's wrong? Talk to me." I said, feeling concerned.
"Josh, I think I'm having contractions right now, and they hurt so much. I believe Gianna is on her way, " she said as she stood up from the bed, leaning against it, rocking her hips back and forth while her breathing exercises.
"Hollon lemme go wake up Trin and Jon." I left the guest bedroom, went to Trinity and Jon's room, and knocked on their door.
The door swung open, and Trinity appeared standing there, looking at me before speaking, "What's up, brother?" I told her about the situation with Tiana, and she knew immediately.
She wakes Jon up and tells him to get dressed because Tiana might be going into labor today. While they do that, I go back to check on Tiana, who is still rocking her hips back and forth. I can hear her breathing.
I came behind her, pushing her back down to relieve some pain from the contractions that she was feeling, rocking back and forth with her.
"I'm right here, mama. Just keep breathing, baby," I reassured her as she nodded her head.
I placed soft kisses on her back, rubbing circles all over it, trying to soothe her. That's when Trinity came inside the room, seeing Tiana's condition. She grabbed Tiana's hospital bag, which contained everything she needed.
"C'mon, Jey. Let's go before this girl has this baby on the floor," Trinity said as I nodded my head.
I held Tiana's hand, helping her get dressed. Despite her contractions whooping her ass, she managed to get her clothing on before we headed out to the hospital.
She did have one more week until she had Gianna, but I guess Gianna had plans of her own. I texted everyone that Tiana was going to have the baby today, so they needed to be prepared when the baby came.
Jon was driving towards the hospital as I held onto Tiana's hand telling her that everything is going to be okay and that we are here for her, seeing her struggling to push through the contractions.
We timed her contractions, seeing how far along they were, and it was coming back every minute or so.
I hope that she can get through the hard part of this before anything else. I can't believe that this is happening today.
Under Your Touch.
A/n: welllll Tiana finna push that baby outtt and Kehlani ass finna crash tf out when she see the baby.

pairing ➳ businessman!mingyu x female!reader

warnings ➳ cursing, reader is really indecisive, heavy makeout, implications of sexual activity.
synopsis ➳ an attractive stranger visits your cabin for a week with whom you quickly bond, developing some strong feelings in the process; leaving you to wonder if he's worth leaving everything behind.
A/N: henlooo~ I finally posted! This has been sitting in my drafts for a while but I didn't really feel like writing for a while, hence the delay. I hope y'all enjoy this piece and please don't forget to leave some feedback! It really motivates me :)
A cool gust of wind blew by as you finished typing your last column, leaving a soothing feeling behind as you exhaled loudly. It was hard to finish this piece of writing for some reason, maybe because you lacked inspiration or maybe because your life had been monotonous for a while or simply, a mix of both. Closing your laptop you stretch your hands and legs, feeling somewhat productive. Humming a tune, you looked out the window to see a Lamborghini come to a halt at the entrance.
It piqued your interest because it's not often that people riding Lamborghini come in this cabin so genuinely you're interested in the visitor. You shifted in your chair, waiting for the man to come upstairs to the reception and sure enough a tall- really tall man dressed in a neatly pressed suit appears into your view, briskly walking towards the reception where Chan stood to greet him. You could not get a good look at his face as he moved around quickly, grabbing his small carry on and heading towards his cabin after the formalities.
You watched his tall frame walking away as you got up from your seat and moved towards Chan.
"Who is he?"
"Kim Mingyu," Chan explained, resting his arms on the reception table." A millionaire, owns a lot of companies. No wonder he looked familiar."
"Oh, really? How long is he staying?"
"He has booked for five days. Said he might extend his stay."
"I see."
"Why are you so curious though?" Chan raised a brow at you, tilting his head to a side.
"Nothing." You shrugged. "He just has different vibes than the other people that come here you know?"
Chan hummed in agreement.
-
There was never much visitors during the rainy season which was both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because that meant the cabin was less hectic and curse because sometimes you are bound to get a bit too bored. You were helping yourself with a cup of tea to somewhat feel re-energised when your newest and the only guest for the week appeared from his cabin, padding through the corridor and stepping into the common kitchen area. You were taken aback for a moment before you composed yourself and smiled at your guest, "Good morning, Mr. Kim. May I help you with anything?"
"Mingyu, please," the tall male replied while scanning the kitchen area. "You're the owner right? What's the food arrangement here?"
"Well, our guests generally cook for themselves or order takeout. When there are many guests I sometimes do the cooking."
Nodding, he hummed before putting in a capsule in the cappuccino machine. You took a seat by the window, tea in your hand as you watched the male move around like he knew this place. Dressed in his pajamas and judging by the fluffy mess that his hair was you assumed he had a good night's sleep.
"I hope you had a pleasant night, Mr- Mingyu." You said to your guest who had whipped out a pan from the cupboard and was making omelette. "Yes, surprisingly so. Normally I have trouble falling asleep but I slept like a baby last night," he casually conversed as he prepared his breakfast.
You smiled, "Well, I'm glad to know that. If you need anything let my staffs or me know."
"Sure. Oh- I didn't get your name though." Mingyu turned to meet your eyes.
"___," you smiled.
"___, okay."
-
"This is gonna be a rainy week," Hoshi said from behind you as he stood holding a tub of fresh soil for the plants in the backyard of the cabin. You sat on your knees, eyeing the plants which needed their soil changed.
"Yeah? Well, good thing there isn't much guests now."
"I think there should be, I mean it's so pretty here during the rain too. People need to look at it themselves." Hoshi complained.
"Well, most people don't like going out in the rain. Pass me the soil, Hoshi. Let's get this finished before the shower starts."
Hoshi handed you the tub of soil as the sky above started growling, full of thick black clouds. It was gonna start raining soon.
Hoshi spoke, "Oh, Mr.Kim, Mingyu you know, asked me about the beach by the marketplace. Apparently he wants to visit so he asked me if I was free to show him around."
"And let me guess, you aren't?" You rolled your eyes.
Soonyoung pouted, "No! Well I would have given him a tour today if the weather wasn't so bad. And my friends are coming tomorrow, so I'll be busy then."
"Wait- you're friends are coming?" You turned, glaring at the boy who smiles sheepishly, "Oh! Um- I didn't tell you? Well they're only staying for a couple of days and it's not like they're staying for free."
"Well, make sure they clean after themselves okay? If I see them trashing all over the place like last time, I'm kicking you out with them." You gave him a pointed look.
"Okay okay," Hoshi rolled his eyes, puffing his cheeks. "Just- take the CEO out on a tour tomorrow for me okay? I haven't seen my friends in a long time."
"Alright, I will...if the weather is good which probably won't be." You sighed, gently removing the old soil.
Hoshi mused about Mingyu, "Bummer for him, he came in a wrong time. It's weird, no? We don't have such guests like him."
"Yeah," you hummed, focused on handling your roses.
-
Hoshi's friend, Seokmin and Seungkwan appeared early in the morning next day as you watched Hoshi vibrate from happiness when he hugged them. You smiled to yourself, laughing at at the antics of your staff as you saw him guide his friends into their cabin. The day was once again filled with dark clouds and raining which occurred every other hour. You and Chan cleaned up and completed some chores as the noon fell.
"Should I cook something up for them?" You wondered as Chan finished cleaning the common space of the first cabin.
"Nah, Seokmin hyung is cooking for them. He's a pretty good cook actually."
"Really? That's nice." You said pulling up a chair to sit down. "Are you gonna join them? Hoshi has been with his friends since they came."
"Yeah, probably. You should join us too."
"No, I think I'm gonna take a nap. I feel so tired."
"Alright."
You watched as Chan climbed down the stairs and stepped towards the second cabin where everyone else was. You were about to head to your room when the CEO, Mingyu appeared in the kitchen.
"Oh, hello."
"Hi."
"I haven't seen you since morning," you said watching as Mingyu poured himself a glass of water.
"Yeah, I woke up early today, went for a jog."
"Ah, I see."
"Couldn't go far though, the weather sucks you know." He said leaning against the kitchen top.
"Yeah. But I heard that it should get better from tomorrow. I could show you around if you want to. Hoshi, my staff, is going to busy for a while so I can guide you around."
"Really? That would be cool." Mingyu smiled. There was a small stretch of silence as you both listened to the rainfall before he spoke, "Have you had lunch?"
"Uh-no."
"Would you like to join me?" He asked "This is the longest time I've been alone and it feels a bit weird," he murmured more to himself than you.
"I mean- I don't mind," you shrugged. "Though I should be the one doing it."
"It's okay. People say I am a good cook," Mingyu smiled, his eyes crinkling.
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see."
-
It was weird how comfortable you felt watching Mingyu being clumsy and bump into things as he prepared your meal. It felt like you've been doing this forever- like you've known him forever and you thought to yourself what was suddenly wrong with you. He made small talk as he cooked and it felt easy talking with him- almost impossible to believe that he was stranger. He was friendly and easy to get along with, definitely not a cold and grumpy businessman like you imagined him to be.
Mingyu grinned as he set down the food in front of you- chicken soup, rice and cheese omelette. His eyes twinkled excitedly as he watched you take a bite, waiting for you to say something.
"What are you? A part time chef or something?" You tried not to moan as you chewed because it was that good. Mingyu laughed- a sweet, shy laugh that had his canines showing and his eyes forming crescents. "Thank you. I learned from my mom. I like cooking for myself when I get the time which is not often," he smiled- almost sadly.
"Well, you can cook for me all you want as long as you're here because this is amazing!" You grinned at him, cheeks puffed with food.
Mingyu chuckled softly as he dug in and you both started eating. It felt nice, to talk to someone new and spend time with them, someone other than Chan or Hoshi. It was a nice change- a change you probably needed for a while.
"So...What brings you here?" You asked as you finished your food, setting down the spoon and leaning back into the chair. Mingyu who was still eating, looked at you with a perplexed expression so you spoke, "I mean...we don't generally have guests like you. And it's not even a good time to visit...so I was wondering what brought you here?"
"Guests like me? What does that mean?"
"I mean...rich, okay?" You fumbled, feeling awkward. Maybe you shouldn't have asked. "Like...there are fancier places to visit, you know..."
Mingyu smiled at your words for a moment before he deadpanned, "I'm running away."
"Running away?" You gasped, almost jumping from your seat, "From who? The cops?"
"It would have been better but no, my family," he said, his voice as serious as ever.
"Oh...I see," you fell quiet. It definitely wasn't the answer you expected. You both remained silent for a while as he started out the window, lost in thoughts. "It must have been really bad if you're hiding out here." You spoke softly.
"It has always been," he mumbled. "I just couldn't take it anymore, you know? I desperately needed a break," he spoke more to himself than you. Instead of prodding further, you sat quietly, watching him and listening to his words. Seeing him now, he definitely looks troubled and you didn't exactly have the words to console him.
So you whispered, "Well, I hope it gets better."
-
Later that night, you find Hoshi and his friends and Chan preparing for a bonfire in the front yard of the cabin.
"Wow, you all are really having fun, no?" You said as you fisted your hands in your pockets from the chilly weather. The air was colder than other nights and everyone including you had put on some warm clothes.
"You wanna join us?" Seokmin asked as he stacked logs on top of each other.
"Nah, it's fine. You four carry on," you patted his back as you started walking back towards the cabin and saw Chan and Hoshi coming out with some boxes in their hands.
"Hey! There are marshmallows in the kitchen cabinet if you want.... nevermind," you finished as you saw beer cans and soju bottles in their hands.
"We're gonna get drunk baby!" Soonyoung yelled, grinning like a fool.
"Hyung, you look drunk already," Chan gave him a side look as they trudged towards the bonfire.
Laughing at their antics you climbed the stairs to the kitchen, preparing some hot chocolate for yourself. Holding the mug on one hand you knocked on the door to Mingyu's room, checking up on him since you haven't seen him since lunch.
The door opened revealing Mingyu in a baggy shirt and pajamas, his hair fluffy and messy.
"Hey," you chriped. "Wanted to check up on you. You wanna join the others in the bonfire?"
"Nah, I'm good. I've been watching them from the balcony." He smiled, his pointy canines showing.
"Oh, I see."
"You wanna come in? I've been getting lonely." He offered, moving away from the door to make space for you.
"Uh- I don't mind," you murmured, surprised that he asked you to come in. You tentatively stepped in and it was fair to say that you were surprised to see the room neat and pristine as most guests kept their room messy.
He ushered you into the balcony, which had a great view of your yard and the forest behind. You saw others laughing loudly as Soonyoung acted something out. Mingyu's voice pulled you out of your thoughts.
"You didn't join them?"
"Nah, they can get too loud sometimes," you chuckled, taking a seat on the bench. You eyed an empty mug lying by, guessing that Mingyu already had his fill of hot chocolate.
Mingyu took a seat beside you, stretching his legs and sighing as he mused, "The view is great."
You hummed your agreement. It was indeed. Not only did you have the full view of your yard and the forest, but you could see a vast horizon of the night sky, some stars twinkling through the clouds.
"It's even more beautiful during summer. You can see so many stars that it feels unreal." You told him.
"Then I will try to visit again during summer," he smiled and you were not sure if he was serious or joking. However you replied with a smile, "You're always welcome."
A silence falls among you two after that but it's not uncomfortable, as you both watched the night grow and Soonyoung and his friends got louder.
"Things got really hard for me, you know," Mingyu started speaking, his voice soft as he stared at the mesh of trees ahead. You were somewhat surprised at his words, but you didn't interrupt, opting for him to continue.
"Running a million dollar company was never easy but...it suddenly was unbearable. My parents always interfered in my work and how I run the company but I managed through all of that, really...until..." Mingyu heaved a long sigh, abruptly stopping.
"Until?" You tentatively asked, peeking at him.
"They want me to get married. With the daughter of their business partner. A marriage of convenience, really."
Oh.
You fell silent, watching him as the moonlight dimly lit the side of his face. There wasn't enough light to see his face completely, but enough to see the curve of his face, his sharp jawline and the sad, lost look in his eyes. Your heart suddenly ached for him. Silently you patted his shoulder, conjuring up some words to console him.
"That's ...awful, really. I'm sorry."
"I've never been so mad in my whole life. Can't they just leave me alone? They treat me like a puppet, like my only job is to live for them. I'm so done. " He said, his hands forming fists.
There's a beat of silence as you quietly patted his back and watched your friends get wasted by the bonfire before he chuckled softly, "I'm sorry for dumping all these on you. I just couldn't hold them in you know-"
"It's really fine, Mingyu. I don't mind. It would be nice if I could actually help you," you sighed, retracting your hand.
"Trust me, you are," he said and you caught a smile on his face.
"I suppose you don't have a significant other? Someone you could talk to freely?"
He shook his head. "That is why I came here. Needed to get my thoughts together, away from them. Not to mention I don't remember the last time I went on a vacation."
"And have you got your thoughts together?"
"I think so, yeah." He shrugged.
"What are you gonna do?" You asked tilting your head.
"Stand strong in my ground, I guess. There's no way I'm marrying their business partner, I'd rather die. And if all else fails, I'm staying here. I'm sure you have some type of job for me, right?"
You laughed at his words, "Maybe. But I'm not sure about your skills, Mr. Kim."
"Oh I'm a fast learner, Miss ___."
You both grinned at each other.
That night when you went back to your room, your thoughts were plagued by Mingyu and you could swear you saw him in your dreams too.
-
The next morning is brighter and shinier; the sky relatively clear other than some light clouds. After getting dressed and checking up on Hoshi and Chan who were still sleeping, you trudged through the cabin and towards Mingyu's room, before knocking on it. A fully dressed Mingyu appeared, clad in a white polo and jeans, his hair styled messily. He looked effortlessly attractive, making your heart skipp a few beats.
Damn it, what was wrong with you?
"Hi," you almost missed a breath, your face flushed with warmth.
"Oh, hey. I was about to come to you. I believe you were to show me around." Mingyu grinned, his pointy canines showing.
"And that is what I'm here for, Mr. Kim."
"Great! Let's get going. We'll take my car."
-
After showing Mingyu around for a couple of hours, you both ended up at the beach by the marketplace, sitting on the sand next to each other. The weather was nice; not too hot, not too cold as a light breeze flew by occasionally. Though you could see some black clouds gathering above, it wasn't to rain until evening if the forecast was correct.
"This place is so pretty," Mingyu mused, making you smile.
"I know right. The weather is great too."
You both watched the waves crash to the shore, occasionally wetting your feet as you both relaxed on the sand. There was a silence, a comfortable one as you finished eating the corndog you bought from the market earlier with some groceries. As you finished the last bite, Mingyu turned to face you and asked, "Tell me about yourself."
"What?" A squeak of surprise escaped from you.
"I shared a lot about myself last night. It's only fair I get to know about you too."
"Well..." You pondered. "There isn't much to tell. I've a pretty dull life, unlike you."
Mingyu chuckled, shaking his head, "Does the cabin belong to your parents? Is it like a family business type of thing?"
"No, not really," you smiled softly. "My parents are dead. The cabin belonged to my grandfather."
"Oh- I'm sorry."
"No it's okay. They passed away in an accident when I was a kid so I don't remember them much." You spoke, watching the sea, "My grandparents raised me. Growing up I've spent a lot of time in the cabin and when my grandfather retired he handed the job to me."
"Are they alive? Your grandparents?" He asked tentatively.
You shook your head, "Grandpa passed away a couple years ago and it's been a few months since grandma did too."
"I'm sorry, you must've been lonely," Mingyu offered, his voice soft.
You shrugged, "Yeah, like I said, nothing interesting going on in my life."
Mingyu hummed noncommittally and there was a few moments of silence before he spoke again, "Was managing the cabin something you have always wanted to do?"
You were quiet for a while as you thought over the question, "No...not really. I've just kept doing the job I was handed to. I haven't really thought about what I want to do."
"Well...I think you should hire a manager in your place and maybe...I don't come to the city and make friends, see what calls for you."
"Yeah, I've thought about it. But I don't know really." You murmured.
"Well, give it some thought. I could help you find a manager. In fact, I could help promote and upgrade your cabin if you'd let me. It'll be a good investment."
You laughed softly, not taking his words too seriously. He was just a guest. He was probably just being nice.
A gust of strong wind flew by, ruining your hair as it poked into your eyes and you laughed when your eyes landed on Mingyu.
"What?"
His hair was sticking in different directions because of the wind and you shook your head with a smile as you reached to pat the hairs back into place. It happened naturally, before you could stop yourself. For a moment your eyes meet as you quickly retract your hand, face heated.
Something was definitely wrong with you.
Mingyu's gaze stayed at you for a while; you could feel his intense eyes on you and you thought maybe he didn't like you touching him. Before your thoughts ran more rampant, he spoke.
"___?"
"Y-yes?"
"Do you...Do you have a home?"
"Home?" You were confused.
"Yes, home. Not like a real house but like a... person. Someone who makes you feel at ease, someone with whom you can be yourself without judgements, someone who keeps you cozy and safe and loved...like a home."
Somewhat taken aback by his words, you fell silent but their depth hit you and you found yourself thinking about it. Do you have a home?
No. No, you don't.
You shook your head, murmuring, "No."
Mingyu nodded taking his eyes off you.
"What about you?" You asked.
"Me neither."
You smiled, "Figures. Because if you had someone you wouldn't have run here but went to them."
Mingyu smiled, a sad smile gracing his lips. It was a somewhat bitter truth, he hadn't found his home no matter how much he looked for it. Maybe that's what he was doing wrong, looking desperately.
"Let's get going. It has started to rain," Your voice dragged him out of his thoughts as he felt small drops of water fall on his face. You reached your hand out to him and he took it, standing up. As you both jogged towards Mingyu's car, your hands remained connected, no one bothering to let go.
-
That night you had dinner with Mingyu again but this time it was you who did the cooking. After enjoying dinner over small talk, Mingyu like the gentleman he is did the dishes as you poured some wine for the two of you.
Sitting on the small table in common space by the window, you both watched the clear sky that had appeared after the shower. You sipped your wine, watching the vast expanse of stars that blinked in the dark sky.
"I think I've to go back tomorrow," Mingyu suddenly whispered, his tone so low you almost thought you misheard him. A bolt out the blue, you looked at him.
"Tomorrow?"
"Mmhmm," he fiddled with the hem of his cardigan as he stared at the table. "I've got so many calls and messages from work. My company won't run on its on, I can be gone for only so long." He sighed.
You didn't offer any words, too shocked to know that he'd be gone tomorrow. What is this attachment you've developed towards him? Why did the thought of someone, almost a stranger going back to where he came from, where he belonged hurt you so much? You didn't know what to label your feelings but realizing that you'd probably never see him again was tugging at your heartstrings.
Should you ask him for his number and stay connected with him? Is there even a point in that? You both live miles away from each other. Or should just take his advice and follow him to the city? Would that even be a good idea? Are you just reading all this wrong?
You were so invested in your thoughts that you didn't realize Mingyu was calling you until he shook your shoulder.
"You okay, ___?"
"Huh? Yeah...it's just, the news is really sudden. I didn't... expect you'd return so soon." You mumbled.
Mingyu sighed, his shoulder dropping a little bit. "Trust me, if I could I'd stay here forever. But...I can't keep running. I need to face my parents, the sooner the better."
At a loss of what to say, you just nodded. Reaching for your drink you took a big gulp, trying to calm your nerves. It's okay, you can do this. He's just another one of your guests.
You stood up, taking the empty glass in your hand, "Well, I better leave you alone now. I'm sure you've got packing to do."
You almost turned away; until a strong hand gripped your wrist and pulled you back, making you stumble towards Mingyu's body.
"Don't. Stay for a while. I don't want you to leave." His voice was soft yet deep and it immediately broke your resolve as you set the glass down and looked into his eyes.
He didn't let go of your wrist; instead only wrapped his other hand around your waist, pulling you closer, leaving just a few inches between your faces. You didn't tell him to move neither did you make any effort to get away from him- you didn't want to. It felt good, comforting as he held you and looked at you almost like you were his whole world. His eyes had so much emotion swirling in them and you were sure yours looked the same too.
"___?" His voice was breathy and it set your heart aflame.
"Y-yes?"
"Can I...kiss you?"
You inhaled sharply as his hold on you got tighter. You couldn't process a reply, overwhelmed with emotion. So you just nodded and Mingyu leaned in, pressing his lips to yours.
It was soft at first, his lips just resting against yours, as if he was testing the waters. When you didn't resist but only pulled him closer, he started devouring you, his tongue prodding in your wet cavern. Moans espaced from you as you kept pulling at his hair almost grinding on him, desperate for more. He was the same, kissing you with so much passion and vigour like you were the last female standing.
You somehow managed to tug off his cardigan between the kiss and when you pulled apart for air, Mingyu panted, "Can we take this to the bedroom?"
His deep raspy voice spread liquid heat throughout your body and you had to stop yourself from pouncing on him.
"Yes please," you breathed. Mingyu stood up straight, his tall and built body intimidating you in the best ways possible, "Oh baby, you don't have to beg. I'll give you anything you want."
Once again your breath was trapped as he picked you up, his hand under your ass to support you. When he dropped you on his bed and took off his tee you realized you were in for a long night. In the back of your mind, you also realized that this would make it even harder to let him go.
-
Next morning you were the first one to wake up as the sun barely seeped through the blinds. If you had to guess it wasn't any more than six am. Mingyu's hand rested on your waist as he remained snuggled against your back. It was so comforting that you almost forgot your reality and went back to sleep, until you remembered what had happened last night. Before you could start overthinking and possibly had a breakdown right there, you ever so carefully removed his hand from your body and scrawled out of the bed, grabbing your shirt and quickly throwing it on. Then you tiptoped out of his room despite the ache between your legs and rushed straight towards yours.
Slamming the door shut, your sat down, head in your hands. You've to now prepare for saying goodbye. Right, you just need to act casual and not let him know that you might have developed feelings for him in the past week.
His words came back to you.
"Do you have a home?"
You didn't have one until now but the realization that you may have found it brought tears to your eyes.
-
You spent the next hours wallowing in your self pity, curled up in your bed too afraid to get out and face Mingyu. Soonyoung dropped by once, knocking at your door and asking if you want breakfast, which you declined. Time slowly ticked away and you watched as the clock struck eleven. You couldn't stay inside forever. You needed to bid Mingyu a goodbye- that is if he hadn't left already. But you were sure he didn't; he wouldn't just leave without any words.
Sighing, you gathered every last bit of your courage and stepped out of your room. Immediately you saw Mingyu coming out from the opposite end of the corridor, the carry-on he brought with him in his hand.
"Hey, where have you been?" He asked, his steps getting quicker to come and stand in front of you.
"Oh- um, I took and shower and then dozed off, sorry," you lied easily, not meeting his eyes.
There was a beat of silence as you both stood in front of each other and when your eyes finally met his, a blush spread across his face like wildfire. The air was heavy with unsaid words and you coughed, trying to get rid of the terrible awkwardness.
"So, you're leaving now?"
What a nice question.
Mingyu seemed to be lost in thoughts as he snapped back to reality and scratched the back of his head, "Oh yeah, right. It'll be a couple hours drive so the earlier I leave the better."
Nodding you motioned your hand towards the exit, "I'll see you out."
Mingyu seemed to have something to say but he pressed his lips in a thin line and started to climb down the stairs, you behind him. Soonyoung, who was standing at the entrance gave you a conspirational wiggle of his brows but said nothing as he watched you follow Mingyu out.
You observed as Mingyu loaded his bag in the trunk, peeking glances at you every other second. When he finished, you spoke, "Well...good luck. I hope you can overcome your problems."
"Thanks. It won't be easy and my dad will probably take away my shares of the company but...I'm done living like this."
You nodded, smiling softly as you crossed your arms against your chest. It suddenly felt cold.
You both gazed at each other, saying nothing even though you've so much to say, as if the silence would carry your unsaid words to him. You were torn- wanting to talk about last night but chickening out knowing it was probably just a fling, a one night stand for him.
"___..." Mingyu spoke but the words died on his tongue. Not trusting yourself to speak, you swallwed the ball of emotions and looked at him with a curious tilt of head.
"...I hope you find what you really want to do. And I hope you find your home too," he said, his words so soft and gentle. For some reason you had a feeling that those were not the words he wanted to say yet you forced a smile and nodded, "You too, Mingyu."
His eyes swirled with so my emotions but you didn't know what he was thinking. He looked pained, just like you but you were too afraid to speak your feelings, scared that you misread him.
When you spoke no more, Mingyu sighed and backstopped slowly, "Well... goodbye, then."
You managed to choke out the words, "Goodbye."
Your emotions overwhelmed you, tears stinging your eyes as you watched him enter his car. Why did it hurt so much? Why did it feel like your heart was being ripped right out of your chest?
His engine roared to life and your stomach sunk. Was this really the right thing to do? Should you just let him go like this?
You made a split second decision that moment, just as his car moved forward a little.
"Mingyu!" You called after him, immediately making him stop the car. He came out, almost in a hurry, an expectant look on his face as you ran towards him. Then you made another split second decision as you wrapped your arms around his tall frame and held tight.
"I like you, Mingyu. I really like you." You mumbled in his chest.
He didn't say anything back but you felt his arms wrapping around you tightly and you stood there in each others embrace for a while. It felt like time has stopped, the warmth and safety of his arms comforting you and making you realize how you would have regretted if you had let him go.
Mingyu pulled back to take a look at your face, his hand cupping your cheeks, his warm but intense eyes on you, shining with love and adoration.
"Say something," you whispered, still unsure.
He chuckled, a light-hearted, carefree sound that made your heart swoon. "I like you too, if it wasn't obvious after last night."
Elated, you pulled his face down and kissed his lips as you felt him grin and wrap his arms around you once again.
"I want to go with you...to the city," you murmured into his chest as he rested his chin on the top of your head.
You couldn't see it but you felt him smirk, "Good. Because I think I found my home."
Your heart couldn't become fuller as you grinned like a happy child.
"Me too."

__________
A Murder of One
Hex adjusted the dial on the receiver on her headgear tuning in to the frequency of the microphone planted in the bar below her. She hoped the ungodly amount of paperwork she traded for the device was worth it. The other detectives at the station simply shrugged at her evidence- or rather, her lack-thereof.
Still it didn’t change the facts.
Fact 1- Low level criminals are disappearing.
Fact 2- People are disappearing
Fact 3- No one cared- but her.
Fact 4- Takei Kenji, one of the missing, had recently been seen in the area and was seemingly ‘not himself’ as described by the anonymous tip that was forwarded to her.
Takei Kenji, age 27. Minor invulnerability quirk. Last known occupation: ‘Nightwatchman’ for a warehouse commonly used for clandestine meetings for the local riff-raff. Reported missing by his mother 3 weeks ago.
After speaking with Mrs. Takei, she pieced together Kenji’s new schedule. After tailing him a few days he truly seemed like a new man, reformed.
His dress was proper and pristine, clean shaven and hair combed and presentable. It was a stark contrast to the photo used on the missing person flier taped to her pinboard (along with all the other missing persons). With no discernible pattern, at least not to her, about the next victim(?) or the whereabouts of any of the others, Kenji was her best, and only lead.
Tonight, she could expect him to show at one of his usual haunts. The bar below her. Not to her personal taste, the clientele of the more stabby nature.
Earlier that week she managed to convince the bartender to spill a few snippets of the conversations between Kenji and the other patrons.
“The Bard this, The Bard that.” griped the bartender as he dumped the trash into the alley dumpster. “It’s pissing off my regulars and they’re pissy enough as it is.”
He should have been here an hour ago though. Hex sucked on her lower lip, displeased as she scanned the road leading to and from the bar entrance. She’d give it another half hour then try and regroup on his trail in the morning.
“Cheers to another late night.” she muttered to herself listening in to the chatter and ambiance of the dive bar.
________
Her 30 minutes go by and she huffs before finally switching the receiver off. She’d go by tomorrow to get the mic back. Just as she was about to stand from her perch Hex heard the unmistakable beat of wings above her, large ones, judging by the sound.
It reminded her of her father. Probably one of the last people she wanted to see right now. Especially since her only lead ditched her for the night.
This night sucks.
Hex thinks to herself, finally looking up intending to see the dark wings of King Crow finally come to drag her home but instead, she sees red.
This has to be the reason Kenji never showed. The thought bounces around her head angrily as none other than the number 2 Hero in Japan descended from the nightly heavens and landed on her rooftop.
This night really sucks.
“Yo!” Hawks held up a hand in greeting neatly folding his very noticeable wings against his back, shoving the other hand into his pocket.
“Will you get down!” Hex harshly whispers, gesturing him to stoop down and out of sight.
“Jeesh, hi, hello how are you? I’m fine, thanks for asking.” he jokes casually but still squats down feet planted on the ground resting his arms on his knees. Hex shakes her head and resumes her post looking up and down the street despite her previous resignation.
“You’re Hex right?” he starts “I’m-” She cuts him off not taking her eyes off the street.
“Obviously I know who you are. Everyone knows who you are. Especially every lowlife in the area who’ve probably fled after seeing your chicken legs flailing in the wind.”
“Ooo, ah, that’s my physical appearance. That hurts you know.” Feigning being wounded, Hawks placed a hand over his heart but still kept the jovial tone. A smart smirk inching up his cheek continuing.
“But you’re not after ‘every lowlife’, though right? Just the one. Takei Kenji?''
She turned to him and tilted her head, large round eyes finally meeting his sharper, more angled ones.
“How did you...?” she trailed off, honestly surprised. It wasn’t common knowledge on how her ‘investigation’ was going. Uncommon because, well quite frankly… no one cared. Especially other Heroes.
“Sorry Chickadee but I got some bad news.” Hawks stood back up and crossed his arms leaning against a nearby cooling unit.
Hex rolled her eyes
“Don’t call me that. What happened?” She looked up at him.
“Well, one of my guys found your guy in… not great shape.”
Hex cursed running a hand through the back of her head, then sighed.
“How bad?” prepping for his answer.
“Morgue bad”
“Dammit!” cursing again, pinching her brow reeling from the implications.
“Your buddies at the station said you'd might want to know as a professional courtesy” brow pinched once more, Hex felt the annoying start of a headache between them.
“Courtesy? For what...” a thought flashing through her mind and she stood eyes going wide “Don’t you dare close my case!” jabbing a finger in his direction.
He turned his head to face her more, still calm, still leaning, still observing.
“Close it? Oh no, wouldn’t think of it Chickadee. I’m taking over the investigation.”
Hex gaped. Momentarily at a loss for words. The frustrations starting to come to a point at the back of her neck, feeling an uncomfortable bristle forming.
“What no, you can’t! Do you know how much work” gesturing wildly with her hands “How much time! The favors I had to do, the resources I scrounged for-”
“Which are no longer a problem.” He blocked one ear with a finger and shot her what would have been an award winning smile “No need to shout Hex. Obviously I want to keep you,” He paused, throwing a wink her way “Keep you on the investigation that is.”
Hex scoffed, her head bobbing back as she shot him an incredulous look.
“I don’t do agencies, and I’m no one's sidekick.” she threw another annoyed jab of her finger in his direction.
“Ooo touchy. Freelance then. Sound good Chickadee?” Hawks held up his hand to maybe physically shield him from her ire.
“Stop calling me that and maybe I’ll let you help”
He smiled-no smirked again pushing off of the cooling unit he was leaning on stepping towards her shrugging his shoulders.
“That doesn't sound like a mutually beneficial arrangement to me.” Hex rolled her eyes and crossed her arms haughtily with a huff.
“And how does calling me stereotyped nickname benefit you, birdbrain.”
Hawks chuckled. He didn’t expect it to be so easy to ruffle her feathers.
This was going to be fun.
“Isn’t that how these buddy cop movies play out? One hard-ass with a secret heart of gold and their handsome, comic relief partner put aside their differences to crack the case and learn the meaning of cooperation and friendship. Roll credits”
Hex tilted her head and shot him an unamused expression, opening her mouth to speak.
“I am not a hardass-” she stopped herself holding her palm up to stop the little banter she was getting pulled into. “Can you circle back, Takei Kenji?”
“Can we circle back to this team up? After all this is my case now?”
Hex scrunched up her nose, not pouting, she told herself, and re-crossed her arms.
“Sounds like something a hardass would say.” she snarked and he grinned again, throwing his arms up bringing them down behind his head.
“You caught me. Hawks, the hardass with a heart of gold. Guess that makes you my handsome, no wait, beautiful partner then. So how's about it Chickadee?”
“Uhg” Hex clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes again. Squaring her shoulders she placed her hands on her hips
“I want a contract. Full access and authority over any and all future developments and details about my case.” Hawks nodded but shot her a finger gun.
“Our case.”
“Whatever!” she sighed looking up at the night sky hands still on her hips.
“The agency manager can draft up whatever you’d like tomorrow. Let’s go see what Kenji had in his pockets shall we?”
Hex nodded reaching up to her headgear. She flicked the visor portion that was pushing her hair back over her eyes. The experimental mirrored tint softening the city night lights. She switched the setting on her earpiece making sure the seal around the was snug. Hawks floated a foot above the ground looking a little bored as he waited.
Show off
Hex activated her own quirk, the bundle of jet black feathers at the base of her hair sending a shiver down her spine causing other inky feathers to erupt from her skin. The ebony plumes forming patterned rows along her arms covering them completely.
Letting them creep upwards to the sides of her neck but stopped them before then could go any further on her body. Just enough for her to achieve flight. She did a small jump maintaining the upward moment with a strong flap of her feather covered arms and started for the station.
Harpy Hero: Hex
Quirk: Harpy- Half human, half bird! She’s able to do most things a bird can do and then some! Most notably, she can grow enough feathers to achieve flight.
______
There is no traffic in the sky and the previously chatty #2 Hero was silent during their flight. Hex was thankful, it gave her some time, however brief, to think.
This new development was...tragic. Someone would have to tell Mrs.Takei in the morning.
It should be me...
It’s just, Kenji was small time. So why would he turn up dead?
And more importantly...
Hex cast a look in her periphery at the Fierce Wing Hero.
How did this fall into the lap of the number 2 Hero?
______
Hawks landed first. Not bothering to tame his windswept hair but did look up to observe Hex’s descent. She wasn’t quite as fast as him, well, then again, no one was. But she was graceful and skilled as she navigated the air currents.
Fanning her wings wide Hex slowed her movements getting ready to land. A few more well practiced flutters and she also touched back down. Before she can remove her headgear she dispels her feathers. Casting them off with a quick flick of her arms. She hardened them into slivers then ground them to sand with another flick to minimize the mess and general rudeness of not picking up after your quirk.
She adjusted her headgear and hair and blatantly ignored the cheeky claps and nods of approval from the man besides her. She strode past him and up into the station. The night reception paid her no mind but did double take when they saw Hawks’s crimson wings engulfing their foyer.
Just outside the morgue waited a man with an impressive and well manicured mustache. He wore a white button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, suspenders and the first few buttons open.
“This her boss?” he asked in an accent indicating that he was from Australia.
“Hex,” she offered “And you are?”
“Duke Amazing. Pleasure.” he greeted offering his hand. She was not expecting such a strong handshake.
“Given the circumstances…” she trailed off. “You found Takei?”
“Well, what’s left that is…” Duke gestured to the door he was waiting in front of “They’ve finished up for now. Just waiting on the bossman for the paperwork and whatnot.” He made another gesture in the direction of a door a little ways down the corridor.
“They’ve got his belongings in there”
“Perfect, cross the t’s and dot the i’s for me Duke?” before his sidekick could answer Hawks was already starting down the corridor. Hex followed close behind.
Duke shook his head crossing his arms.
“June’s gunna pitch a fit again Hawks”
“Op, can’t hear you, the doors closing!” gently shoving Hex in the room and hastily closed the door behind them.
“Uhg paperwork” He bemoaned and leaned against the door
“Paperwork” Hex commiserated but was already looking over the items laid out on the small table.
There wasn’t much but everything was bagged, labeled and detailed on a piece of paper next to the items.
There was a small wallet, no money, a personal ID card. An older model cell phone, unusable. Most likely damaged in whatever altercation Kenji found himself in.
“Probably a burner” Hawks shrugged “Still, I'll get someone to pull the numbers.” He made no move to examine the items himself but instead watched Hex very carefully as she examined each one.
She cupped her chin as she looked at the final piece of evidence, brow furrowed.
“I’ve seen this before...” she commented, turning over the small business card over front to back several times examining it.
While it was the same shape and card stock as a business card it held no information. No address, phone number, or even a business name. All that was printed was an indigo triangle.
“What is it?” He was curious because he had no idea what the shape meant either.
“I…” she started, brows still furrowed. “I have no idea, but I know I've seen this...”
She placed the bagged card back on the table and leaned over it rubbing her hand to the back of her neck smoothing down her feathers there. The memory of where she’d seen this particular shape eluding her.
“Maybe at his apartment?” she muttered to herself, then sighed
“I’ll have to go back over my notes.” Hex leaned up from the table and unzipped her jacket pulling out her phone and snapped a quick picture on the item.
“How about we meet back up tomorrow then. Let me give you my number.” Hawks held out his palm asking for her phone. She was just about to hand it over but thought better and pulled it back causing him to catch air.
“No social calls, no memes at 3 in the morning, no unsolicited pictures.” her tone stern
“What if they’re tasteful?” he made a grabby motion with his hands and gave his brows a waggle.
“They’re never tasteful.” she quipped back but finally relented and handed over her phone.
Hawks flipped it over in his hands and quickly typed in his information jokingly setting the name for his number “Unsolicited dick pics” with an appropriate emoji next to it. He sent himself a quick text with her phone then clicked hers off and handed it back to her.
He was extremely pleased when she didn’t double check his contact info and simply zipped the phone back into her pocket. His little joke would be a fun surprise for the morning then.
“Send me where you want to meet tomorrow” She pressed her fingers to the back of her neck again “I’m heading out. Looong night”
Hawks moved away from the door and let her pass, parting for the night.
“Well that led to a whole lotta nothing” He mused to himself finally taking his turn to look over the offending card stock.
“It’s never an easy mess to clean up is it?” He tossed the card back on the table.

So yeah I'm becoming increasingly convinced I am actually living in some sort of horror story.
Okay, so, late last March I am up at like 3 AM like pretty much everyone was around then because time had just become utterly meaningless in that first month of Quarantine, just sort of pacing around my apartment like you do you are stuck in quarantine and it is 3 AM. Look out my front window, and across the street a couple houses down I see this:
Just, a big ol' cross of big red lights, just lighting up a porch.
At 3 AM.
Totally not ominous or anything like that.
I hopped on to Nextdoor to see if anyone had commented on the cross or explained it or wtf was going on, and, hidden among the 'found pet' and 'missing pet' and 'oh no a person in a hoodie walked somewhere in the general vicinity of my house plz be safe everyone' posts, there was this message, presented in it's entirety:
I have no idea what the reunion area is, I'm sure it's a charming place for... reunions, I guess, but, timing sure is a thing.
Anyway. Red Cross. It's just there, and as far as I can tell it's lit up 24/7, just there, outside my front window. Being an ominous cross glowing a bright red. Some peeps on Discord suggest that maybe it's just some sort of Easter decoration they had put up, and while that's not exactly a normal thing it at least sounds reasonable, so I just roll with that theory. Some people just be weird like that.
Anyway here's a pic I took in September.
Yeeeeeeeep. It's still there 5 months later. And it would remaion there until the end of November, when it finally goes away and is replaced with some sloppily thrown up christmas lights.
Though when the cross disappeared is also when my upstairs neighbor also just up and vanished too?
Like I don't have an exact timeframe on that, I just kind of noticed his van was no longer around. And then mid December a cop shows up at the building's front door, asking for him or if I'd seen him, because they found his van. It had seemingly been abandoned in a parking lot at the county event center outside of town, and they were trying to get a hold of him before it was impounded. Told them I hadn't seen him in a couple weeks, cop left to do other cop things, and I just kinda... sat with that for a while, because there really wasn't anything I could do beyond telling the cops "yo I haven't seen this guy for a while".
The Polar Vortex. My apartment was absolutely frigid, it couldn't get above 50, but my furnace was working and putting out heat. No idea where I was losing the heat, couldn't find any significant drafts that hadn't been there in previous years. So I trudge down to the Ace Hardware to get a space heater, pick up this tiny little personal desktop heater because it was literally all they had left other than the giant fuck-off propane heat cannons designed for heating warehouses or construction sites, and walking back up to my apartment building I look upstairs and see
The windows are wide open. All of them. In fucking February. And, since there's still been no sign of the upstairs neighbor, that means that they've been opened since late November, early December.
So my gas bill for Dec-Feb is an absolute fucking nightmare but that's besidses the point.
Skip forward to this week. Wednesday the landlord shows up, asking if I had any leaks in my apartment, there had been water leaking into and pooling in the basement. I tell them no, but mention that I think the guy upstairs from me hasn't been in his place since begining of december and the windows have been opened, maybe a pipe burst up there, to which the landlord looked.. confused and concerned at this. Which was a bit odd, because I'd figure the lack of rent checks after 3 months would have been noticeable, but maybe there were advance payments, who knows.
Anyway, landlord and his contractor got in and also called the police, they didn't find anybody up there (as well as no reports of him showing up in area hospitals), but they found the source of the leak. His toilet had been clogged and continually overflowing.
For Three Months.
Hey at least I know exactly why part of my bathroom ceiling had collapsed a month earlier. (I had reported it to the property management company but they apparently never forwarded the message to my landlord).
But hey, the windows are closed now at least, and the leak fixed. Anyway, the next day, I step out to pick up a package that had been delivered, and upstairs I hear a tap.... tap.... tap.... tap.... and sigh, thinking "Oh boy, what the fuck is leaking NOW." So, I head up the stairs to see if I could find it. I round the corner in the stairwell, start heading up the second stretch of stairs, when up over the banister pops someone wearing a full-on Gas Mask.
I certainly wasn't expecting that.
Turns out it was my other upstairs neighbor, she was sorting through some containers filled with items damaged in a house fire and was wearing the gas mask so as to not have the ash irritate her lungs, which she has issues with, and it was the respirators on the gas mask that was making the tapping sound. Anyway, we get to talking, she asks me if I know what's going on with the guy in the apartment next to hers, and I tell her the stuff I know, the cop, the landlord, the toilet, etc. And she tells me that around late November, she had started noticing a bad smell up there, but then one night shortly after she noticed the smell she heard a lot of stomping around and a loud ruckus in there, and it was after that that she too noticed the windows had been opened and that the shared wall between apartments had gotten ice cold.
Aaaand that's where I'm at right now. 10 ft below all of that. Just... living with all that information in my head. Had I mentioned that I'm on three different medications for anxiety? I'm on three different medications for anxiety, and I have all of that in my head. It's fine. I'm fine. It's Fine.
Anyway, if some of the worst stuff that's just circling around my brain meat comes to pass, well, I do have a way to defend myself. Because I got this nifty-ass corroded to all fuck Pipe Wrench that just so happened to fall out of my bathroom ceiling in January!
It's Fiiiiiiine.

Miraculous Secret Santa Fic 2
A Bonus ML Secret Santa post!!
I was the back up gifter for @mira-ele!! I hope you enjoy this fic. It was tons of fun to write about a ship that’s not explored often. (Also I got really into this ship because of this fic so that was cool!)
Again, thank you to @mlsecretsanta for creating and organizing this event!
Also, I apologize for how horribly cheesy the ending is I’ve been watching too many Hallmark movies lately.
Hello, I Love You
Words: 2,178
Rating: General
Relationships: Chlodrien
Characters: Chloe, Adrien, Ladybug
Tags: Fluff, Romance, Love Confessions, Future Fic, Alternating POV
Read on Ao3
At eighteen years old, Chloe Bourgeois knew two things:
Adrien was her oldest and closest friend.
She was in love with him.
The whole situation was unfairly ironic, in Chloe’s opinion. Sure, she had an immature obsession with the boy all those years ago, but after actually talking through her feelings and realizing that it stemmed from a fear of losing him as a friend, it faded. Their friendship became strong, genuine, authentic. It was one of the most important things in her life.
And yet here she was, her feelings resurfaced, unasked for, like a slap to the face.
The journey to falling in love with her childhood friend may have been a slow, steady descent, but by the time she realized she was falling down this mountain of emotion, it was too late, she was all in. Irrevocably and unquestionably in love. There was no turning back, no climbing up the mountain to the way things used to be.
And Chloe tried to, at first. She really did. She couldn’t let this silly crush get in the way of their friendship like her obsession did in the past. This time would be different. So she ignored it and acted like everything was normal. Adrien would still come over after his photo shoots to complain about the demands of his father, and she would walk home with him from school and talk about how her mom forgot her birthday again. Business as usual. And it worked.
At first.
Chloe wasn’t used to holding back her affections. When she was with someone she cared for, Chloe made sure they knew just how much she cared. Not letting Adrien know how much she loved him felt like silencing a major part of her existence. It just felt… wrong.
So, even though it was certainly embarrassing, Chloe wasn’t all that surprised she spilled the beans.
“You… what?”
Adrien Agreste, the one at the center of all her trouble, stood in front of her, green eyes wide and lips parted in disbelief. At least she hoped it was disbelief and not disgust. Chloe didn’t think her heart could take that.
Chloe took a deep breath before explaining herself. “I really like you, Adrien. A lot. And… and I know that I used to say that when I was younger, but this is different. And I-- I understand if you don’t feel the same way, but I couldn’t keep it bottled up anymore. I need you to understand how much I care about you, Adrien.”
“Chloe, I-”
“I’m going to show you.”
“What?”
“I’m going to show you how serious am I about this.” An idea began to blossom in Chloe’s mind. It was a bit… unorthodox, some would say, but since when did Chloe follow the rules of society? A grin spread across her face as she crossed her arms. “Just you wait, Adrien Agreste. I’m going to woo your socks off.” She threw him a wink as she walked away, leaving him behind to process her confession.
Chloe Bourgeois was nothing if not determined, and now? Now she was determined to get this right, no matter how difficult.
Adrien was worth it.
Adrien liked to think of himself as a laid-back guy, someone who took things in stride. There wasn’t much that truly shocked or surprised him.
Then there was Chloe Bourgeois.
To say that Chloe’s confession surprised him would be an understatement. He was dumbfounded. Of course he knew of her infatuation with him when they were younger, but they both moved past that over the years. She was one of his closest friends, next to Ladybug.
And, well, he would be remiss to say that he didn’t have a crush on her too.
Which is probably what played into his shock. He’d spent the past few months convincing himself that Chloe didn’t think of him as anything other than a friend. She was absolutely terrible at hiding her feelings, and she hadn’t done or said anything to even hint that she liked him too.
Apparently he had been completely and totally mistaken.
The gift in front of him was further proof of that.
A small box of green macarons topped with a bow and accompanied by a note sat on his desk when he walked into the classroom that morning.
Adrien,
The way you’ve changed my life is almost uncountable, but, I want to try. So here’s the first one.
I’m not proud of the feud I used to have with the Dupain-Cheng’s, but while we still don’t always get along, our relationship has changed so much. At the very least I can say Marinette and I are friends.
And that’s because of you, Adrien.
You believed in me when no one else would. So many people expected certain things from me, but not you. Since day one, you’ve pushed me to be a better person. All the important relationships in my life are here because of you.
Thank you, Adrien, for believing in me.
With love,
Chloe Bourgeois
(PS: I know how much you love macarons. I picked green because they remind me of your eyes. I hope that’s okay.)
Adrien looked at the label on the box and, sure enough, the familiar logo of the Dupain-Cheng bakery was on the side.
“You got my gift!”
Adrien dropped the note in surprise as Chloe ran up to him. “So, do you like it?”
He didn’t even have to try the macarons to know they’d be delicious. “I do, it’s very kind of you Chloe, but-”
“Good, because there’s plenty more where that came from.” Her smile was wide and mischievous, and under any other circumstances Adrien might have been concerned.
He tried to tell her that this was unnecessary, that he liked her too, that he had for a long time now, but before he could speak, their teacher entered and silenced the room so class could start.
After class, then. After class, he would finally tell her. Meanwhile, he settled for stealing glances at Chloe’s happy look and bright red blush as he nibbled on a macaron.
He had meant to catch up with Chloe, he really did. He had a whole speech planned out, written down while he should have been listening to the teacher’s lessons. It was sweet, honest, poetic. It would have been great. It took him days to draft it. He knew it would have knocked Chloe off her feet.
Stupid akumas.
Chloe’s gifts kept coming and coming, growing sweeter and kinder each day. A mixtape one day, a hand drawn picture the next, each with their own notes citing Adrien’s significance in Chloe’s life and how much he meant to her.
He hadn’t felt this loved and cared for since his mom disappeared.
And Adrien still hadn’t had the chance to talk to her.
Stupid stupid stupid stupid-
He swore that Hawkmoth must have known how important this week was to him, and that’s why the akumas were even more active than before. They wouldn’t stop coming and it was exhausting. He would arrive to school each morning with bags under his eyes (and of course Chloe noticed and started bringing him coffee every day). Even Marinette, who he discovered to be Ladybug two years ago, was feeling it, as she kept falling asleep and snoring in the middle of class.
This was ridiculous.
It was their second akuma of the day and Adrien was done. He had received his favorite gift that morning, a framed photo of him and Chloe from when they were kids, and the need to tell her how he felt was growing to be uncontainable. Between his lack of opportunity to talk to Chloe and the relentlessness of Hawkmoth, anger was rolling off of him in waves.
Ladybug definitely noticed this, if her questioning looks during the fight were any indication. It wasn’t a difficult akuma, but given his distraction and exhaustion, Chat was definitely not performing at his best.
“You doing okay, Chat?”
“Fine,” he grunted. “Let’s just get this over with.”
After what seemed like forever, the akuma was finally taken down and Paris was returned to normal, and all Chat wanted to do was book it back to school.
Ladybug stood next to him and gazed at him quizzically. “You’re sure in a hurry, Chaton. What’s going on?”
He felt a blush work its way to his cheeks. “Ah, I just really need to talk to a… friend. It’s very important and I haven’t had the chance yet.”
Ladybug’s eyes sparkled knowingly, and if he had been fourteen again, he would have found them beautiful, but lately a different shade of blue had him captivated. “I see. Does this… ‘friend,’ happen to have blonde hair and blue eyes and has been professing her love for you all week?” She giggled and wiggled her eyebrows as she tossed her yo-yo.
“...Maybe…” Yes, and she deserves to hear how he felt.
Ladybug let out another light laugh. “I’m sorry this week has been so awful, Chat. But I hope you get to finally have that conversation today. And when you do, tell me how it goes!” She wiggled her eyebrows again before jumping away.
Chat sighed as he vaulted himself with his staff. Of course Ladybug, or, well, Marinette, knew what was going on. Everyone in class had seen Chloe’s change in demeanor around him. She wasn’t exactly subtle about it. Each wink and smile that made his stomach flip was visible for the whole world to see.
And that was the beautiful thing about this, wasn’t it? Chloe was so… unashamed about how she felt, and not in the way his fans usually were. Chloe knew him completely. She was there for all of his adventures as a child, for when his mom vanished, for when he first started school. She saw the rarest parts of him, and then she did the most important thing.
She stayed.
Chloe refused to be disheartened.
Her plan had been going well. Adrien seemed to like reading what she had to say, and he had yet to reject any of her gifts.
But he also hadn’t talked to her, either.
He kept disappearing during the day. Each time she thought they’d finally get a chance to talk, he’d vanish without a trace.
Again, Chloe refused to be disheartened.
But she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t a little nervous about the framed picture she was giving him that morning.
It was the last idea she had in her arsonal. If this didn’t show how much she cared, nothing would. And if Adrien still had nothing to say after that? Well, Chloe supposed she’d have to move on, no matter how difficult it would be.
But she didn’t want to think about that.
However, when Adrien vanished yet again that day, her heart dropped into her stomach.
He didn’t like it.
He didn’t like her.
Of course he didn’t. She’d been a fool to think otherwise. She was bratty, spoiled, flashy. Everything Adrien wasn’t, at least in her opinion. She had too much awful history. Of course Adrien wouldn’t like-
“Chloe!”
She spun around at the voice. “Adrien?”
“Chloe! I have to talk to you.”
“Adrien, I’m-”
“No, Chloe, let me say this. Okay? I’ve been trying to say this all week but I haven’t had the chance, and I’m not letting it go now.
“Chloe, you… there’s no one like you. You’re driven, passionate, intense, dramatic. And you care so, so much. There has never been a time where you haven’t been there for me. And I-- do you know how important that is? You, just being there? And I know how much you’ve said I impacted you, but Chloe, you’ve impacted me, too. You showed me that it’s okay to spoil myself sometimes, that I can fight for the things I care about, that I’m worthy of being loved, and…” Adrien took in a deep breath. “Chloe I think I’m in love with you.”
Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh-
This was real. This was really happening.
Chloe pinched herself just to make sure.
Yep, definitely real.
“You- you are?”
“Yes, Chloe.” Like a flip was switched, Adrien’s confidence receded as timidness took its place. “And-- and you like, me, right? Because that’s what all this was about, the gifts and your confession… you were telling the truth?”
“Adrien, I may have been a jerk in the past, but I can tell you right now that I was never that bad.”
He chuckled nervously. “Yeah, you’re right…”
Chloe smiled.
“You really were a jerk.”
“Hey!”
“Just kidding.” Adrien laughed and grabbed her hands, pulling her forward. “Is it okay if I kiss you now?”
That’s a silly question, Chloe thought as she leaned in and answered by putting her lips on his.
At eighteen years old, Chloe Bourgeois knew two things:
Adrien was her oldest and closest friend.
They were in love.
And Chloe? Chloe was just fine with that.

Didn’t Mean It - D.S.
A/N: Yo, it’s me! I’m alive lol it’s the second week of school and so far it’s alright but I haven’t had time to write or be active, my apologies! I’ve had this in my drafts for a few days but I forgot to post it, sorry! I really hope you enjoy :))
Requested: yes
You sat on one of the lounge chairs in the backyard of the WDW house, admiring the different colours of the sky. It was a particularly chilly evening compared to the constant heat in California but you liked it. The wind was blowing, making you shiver and regret only wearing a tank top. With a sigh, you heaved yourself up and went inside. On your way in, you passed Daniel and Jonah, blushing when you caught Daniel’s eye. You’ve had a crush on him for the longest time now but had yet to tell him.
Once inside, you went straight into Jack and Daniel’s bedroom, knowing how messy the other boys’ room was. You looked through their closet for something warm to throw on, your eyes settling on a gray hoodie. Quickly tying your hair into a bun, you put on the hood and walked downstairs, back to the lounge chairs. You wondered where the other boys went since you had only seen Jonah and Daniel. They’re probably skateboarding - well in Zach’s case trying to. Giggling to yourself, you focused your attention on the view in front of you.
You were lost in your own thoughts, thinking about everything and nothing. That was the reason why you didn’t hear Daniel approaching, resulting in you falling off the chair when he slapped you. What the heck did he do that for??
“I didn’t mean it” he chocked out in between laughs. Getting up again, you turned around and just looked at him. Once Daniel realized who was standing in front of him, he instantly stopped laughing. You saw the shocked expression take over his face, confusing you even more than getting slapped out of nowhere. He just kept looking at you without saying anything. What’s up with him?
“Earth to Daniel, are you okay?” That seemed to shake him out of his trance but the frown wouldn’t leave his face. “Oh shit man” he mumbled under his breath, probably not intending for you to hear it but you did. You let out a low chuckle, amused by his reaction.
“Oh my god, (Y/N), I’m so sorry, I didn’t know it was you! Your back was turned towards me and you had the hood on your head so I thought you were Jack. And you know how I always slap him so naturally I had to take this opportunity. But you’re not Jack! I just slapped you, shit. (Y/N/N), I would never slap you on purpose, you know that, right? I’m so stupid, please don’t be mad at me.”
When he finally finished talking, he was blushing like crazy which you found adorable. “Dani, calm down, it’s alright, I’m not mad.” Daniel quickly pulled you into a hug, burying his head into the crook of your neck. “I’m really sorry (Y/N)” You hugged him back. “Let’s just find the other boys”
You found them in the living room and sat down on one of the couches, Daniel right beside you. You told the boys what had happened, making them laugh and tease Daniel until his face was as red as a tomato. After everyone calmed down, Jack, Corbyn and Zach went outside again, leaving you with the other two boys. Daniel hadn’t left your side the whole evening, clinging to you and constantly apologizing even though you kept assuring him it was alright. Your frustration seemed to catch Jonah’s attention, making him put down the book he had been reading to turn towards you. He saw the discomfort on your face and decided to tease you, knowing about your little crush.
“(Y/N/N), is that Daniel’s sweatshirt you’re wearing?” Now it was your turn to blush. You looked at your friend with wide eyes and saw the smirk on his face. He was doing it on purpose. Daniel turned towards you, only now realizing that you were, in fact, wearing his hoodie. He smiled at you, cheeks pink and eyes sparkling. The way he was looking at you made you think that maybe he saw you as more than a friend but before you could say anything Jonah stood up “I’m gonna leave before you start making out right in front of me. I really don’t need to see that.”
You looked down at your lap, trying to hide both your blush and the smile on your face. But Daniel had other plans. He slowly reached out and lifted your head, making you look at him before whispering “Making out doesn’t sound too bad now, does it?”

TIANA
Jey has been doing a lot for me these past couple of weeks, taking me out on dates, going to the beach, or taking me on late-night walks to talk about things. It just made my heart flutter, and I love him even more.
He was trying to make me feel stress free away from all the drama that's been circulating lately between his ex-girlfriend then to Kai and his parents keep bugging me about the restraining order which I'm not taking in off I don't need him near me.
Ever since I put hands on his momma he's been trying to get in touch with me to speak on the matter but I didn't have nothing else to say to him nor to her as well it was getting ridiculous at this point.
'Why his people so delusional just excusing the fact that he put his hands on me.'
I was out back smoking some weed. I took a few puffs before putting it down on the tray, admiring the view as the wind was blowing.
Jey had to go back to work which kind of made me sad and I missed him so much. I haven't really been at work or even check up on my nail shop since that incident between me and Kai including Emma.
But I told my clients that I'll be back soon due to personal reasons, and they all understood, which I loved, honestly.
I took a few more puffs from the pre-roll blunt as I blew the smoke in the air, and a satisfying sigh escaped my lips.
I pulled my phone out while scrolling through my social media, replying to some of my clients and others in the comments section. As I was doing that, I saw that Bianca had texted me.
Breezy sent 3+ messages Breezy: Hey bestiee I see that Joshua has been taking you out lately you deserve it tho period. Breezy: also ion wanna bring it up but his mama came over again today but this time we wasn't home I saw it on the ring camera. Breezy: when is yall going to get married and have babies already?
I chuckled at her last text message that I read she's so dramatic.
Tiana: girl fuck his mama atp because I'm over it I'm not taking Kai of the restraining order. Breezy: period as you should I'm getting tired of her too. Tiana: speaking of marriage and kids B ion wanna rush into all of that I don't want it to be a disaster you know? Breezy: I understand girl so how are you goin to feel when he does pop out with that question? Tiana: imma say YES duhh girl but then I'll be crying😭😭 Breezy: girl I am done with you chileee are you alone at his crib? Tiana: yeah, he's at work which I'm sad I miss my man girl Breezy: he'll be home girl but I was just checking in on you I miss you being at home. Tiana: Montez getting in your nerves? 😭😭 Breezy: YESSS Tiana: Girl bye you know you love him. Breezy: that's true but I'll text you later girly Tiana: byeee
I smoked the last bit of the blunt as I put it out before heading back inside the house and hearing the keys jiggling, knowing that Jey finally came home.
"Mamas? I'm home!" He shouted.
I ran over to him, wrapping my arms around his neck as he told me to jump, and I did while his hands were resting on top of my ass, carrying me to the couch.
He removed his book bag and threw it next to him while he kept me in place on his lap. I cupped his face with my small hands and kissed him on the lips.
"I missed you bubba," I said pulling away.
"I missed you too, ma; what did you do when I was gone?" Jey asked.
I explained to him about my day and the talking to Bianca about what she had told me before he came home. Him listening and watching me ramble about my day just made my heart flutter.
I felt him caressing my cheek in the process of me rambling which made me look away for a second causing him to chuckle.
Grabbing my chin pulling me in for another kiss but this time it was different. We made out as his tongue slipped into my mouth as I gripped onto his mullet.
As we continued to passionately tongue kiss each other, I felt him scooping me up from my thighs while taking us upstairs towards his bedroom, not removing our lips from each other.
He pinned me on the bed, never leaving my lips as I felt him removing my clothing along with his as his lips escaped mine putting them onto my neck, sucking it like a vampire.
As a moan escaped from my lips as I felt him rub my pussy as I continued to grip onto his mullet.
"I haven't even did anything to you yet and you're wet for me baby." He rasped.
SMUT WARNING He had my legs pinned behind my head as he was digging his dick deep inside of me. All I could do was moan his name loudly, gripping onto his biceps tightly.
"I love how you're just taking it mama." He whispered as he held onto my throat pounding me senselessly.
My walls were clenching around him as a groan escaped his lips gazing down at me. Watching my facial expression turn up every time he dug deeper inside of me, which satisfied him.
He leaned over to place a soft kiss on my lips as I let out a gasp when he pushed his dick deeper inside of my gushy insides.
He watched me tremble underneath him. "C'mon mamas you got it give it me." Jey started to circle his hips hitting my spot causing me to hold onto him tightly.
Our skins were slapping against each other as our moans and groans were heard all over the room. I didn't know how much I could take from this man.
My eyes were rolling in the back of my head. "J-Joshhhh F-fuck." I whined weakly, feeling that familiar pit going down my stomach.
I always felt very overwhelmed when it time for me to nut on this man. I tried to push him away by his stomach, but he slapped my hands away, drilling my wet cunt vigorously.
"Stop runnin' from me and take this dick Ma." He rasped into my ear feeling his balls slapping against my clit.
I scratched his back causing him to hiss as he rubbed his thumb on my clit which drove me insane.
He continued to grip my throat firmly, not trying to hurt me, as I felt my toes curling up while his strokes were getting sloppier and sloppier.
I was tapping onto his back, signaling that I was going to cum. "Use your words baby, let daddy know what's up." I loved when he sweet talked me making me want to stop using birth control and have his kids now.
I felt my legs shaking violently underneath him as I let out a loud moan while cumming all over him. He kissed me on the cheek as he continued to sweet talk me.
Cursing underneath his breath as he continued to pound my now sensitive cunt deeper while I grip onto his mullet tightly.
Not too long after, he came inside of me, filling me up with his seed as a groan escaped his lips. Jey pulled out seeing me shaking violently while trying to catch my breath.
SMUT OVER. Jey went inside his bathroom getting everything prepared for us to take a bath together. As I lie there in his bed still shaking violently trying to calm myself down.
He for sure put that thang on me. I've seen him coming out his bathroom holding his hand out for me to get up knowing damn well I couldn't walk.
"Can you walk mama?" Jey asked.
"Yes of course Josh I can walk, hell no nigga I cannot walk sir." I said sarcastically while rolling my eyes.
"very funny tink c'mon I'll carry you." I held his hand as he carried towards his bathroom while shutting the door behind him.
Sitting me down on the edge of the tub as I attempted to get in by myself as Jey did the same thing. he wrapped his arms around my waist as me and him sigh in relief as the warm water hit our body.
I lay my head back on his chest as he gave me a soft kiss on the lips.
"How are you feeling baby?" He asked.
"I'm feeling fine love, more relaxed than ever." I said as I looked up at him.
"That's good; my mama keeps asking me when we are going to get married and have kids together." I nod my head while listening to him.
"I told her I didn't want to rush or pressure you into that yet until you're ready." I loved how he respected my wishes because I am confident that I want to marry and have his babies too.
I smiled at him as he placed a kiss on my thick lips causing us to get caught up in another make out session but this time I was in control as my hand snaked down around his harden member.
Stroking it up and down as he threw his head back. "Why don't you come suck it I missed yo' pretty ass lips on my dick mama."
SMUT WARNING
We were still in the tub that was filled with warm water and bubbles as I was bobbing my head up and down on his dick sucking his sensitive tip.
Moans and Groans escaped his lips as he gazed down at me, going down on him while throwing his head back.
"Shit mama keep goin'" He grabbed a whole load of my hair, thrusting his hips up and down as he face fucked me.
As I was deep throating his dick I was circling my tongue on his tip while he pushed his dick deeper inside of my throat causing me to gag a bit.
He was sweet talking me through it giving me compliments and encouraging me to keep going down on him.
He pulled me back up, hearing that pop go out of my mouth as he kissed me on the lips. I continued to down on him deeper feeling the tip of his dick hit the back of my throat trying not to gag.
"I want you to gag on this dick mama, make me nut." He rasped.
I swirled my tongue around his tip as I gazed up at him, seeing him gripping onto the side of the tub while rolling his eyes in the back of his head.
It made me feel satisfied seeing like this since he always have me like that so a little payback won't hurt.
I had him shaking underneath me as he kept clenching his legs tightly. "Make me nut mama, make me fuck..." his moans we heard all over the bathroom.
I felt his dick twitching inside of my mouth as I kept sucking the tip because that's all I needed to do to get him there.
After a while he groaned loudly as he nut all over my face while I was tapping his dick onto my tongue in the process.
He was shaking violently just like how I was while gazing down at me.
"Fuck mama, that felt so good." He breathed out seeing his tatted chest going up and down trying to catch his breath.
SMUT OVER.
✧.* JEY Me and Tiana were cuddled up together in the bed as she was sleeping soundly meanwhile I was scrolling through my social media seeing everyone supporting our relationship.
That's when her phone went off not wanting her to wake up I leaned above her body grabbing her phone in the process. Seeing that Bianca was calling her so I picked it up.
OTP Breezy: Tiana? I need you and Josh home like now. Tiana: this is Josh what's going on B? Breezy: Malakai and his momma are banging on our door looking for Tiana and Montez is trying to tell them to leave. Tiana: I can come over there real quick Tiana is sleeping right now B. Breezy: Please Josh that would be great. Tiana: I'll be there in a few minutes B. Breezy: thank you Josh.
CALLED ENDED.
Don't this guy ever quit? Why is he harassing her people like this? I looked at Tiana who was sleeping on my chest peacefully as I placed her on her pillow quietly without trying to wake her up.
I put on the clothes I had on earlier, grab my keys, and head out the door, texting Jon.
Twin📌: I just got your message what's up uce? Jey: Tiana's ex and his momma are messing with Bianca and Montez so I need backup just in case some shit go down. Twin📌: where's Tiana? Jey: she is at my crib sleeping right now I'm otw over to her house. Twin📌: ight I'll tell Trin I'm heading out so she won't get worried. Jey: ight uce.
I was driving fast towards Tiana and em house going to handle this. I finally pulled up to the crib seeing his momma car there while they were banging on their door.
I got out of my car seeing Jon pulling in the driveway he came up to me as we dabbed it up before walking up to them.
"Aye, imma need yall to get the fuck on like deadass." I said while I stood there with my arms folded.
They both got startled while turning their heads looking at me and my brother Jon standing behind them.
"Oh, it's yo' bitch ass where the fuck is Tiana?" Malakai questioned.
"Her whereabouts are none of your business fuck boy, so why don't you and yo' momma leave, or it'll be some problems." He came up to me showing his strap something that Tiana was telling me about.
I chuckled at him then looked at Jon who was also chuckling with me too this fool think I'm scared of a gun. I stood my ground being all up in his face while looking into his eyes.
"You might wanna back up, boy, that damn gun. Don't scare me; I'll still beat yo' ass in the process." I spat, pushing him off, causing him to tumble a bit.
"Fuck you, you don't deserve Tiana I should've beat her ass some mor—" before he could finish his sentence I sucker punched him in his jaw causing him to fall on the ground seeing his momma coming to his aid.
I was on top of him beating his head in. I was not finna tolerate him talking down on Tiana like that when she's not here to defend for herself.
As I was beating his head in his momma tried to pull me off but Bianca came to my aid pushing his momma out the way as I continued to beat the fuck out of him.
Montez seen that ol' boy was trying to reach for his strap but instantly grabbed it throwing it somewhere meanwhile I grabbed a whole load of his hair dragging him as a threw him against the brick wall, hearing him winch in pain.
"Next time you wanna speak on Tiana you better respect her, and YOU don't deserve her like I do bitch ass boy." I kicked him in his stomach as Jon held me back from him as I calmed down.
"Calm down Uce, you know Tiana don't want nun happening to you." Jimmy said as I nodded my head agreeing with him.
His momma slapped me across the face as I held my face while smirking a little bit she was so lucky that Tiana was at my crib sleeping right now.
"HOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO MY SON I CAN GET YOU ARRESTED!" she shouted.
"you and yo' bummy ass son will also get arrested for trespassing and goin against the restraining order." I said as I felt my phone buzzing.
I saw that Tiana was calling me as I answered the phone.
OTP ZaddyJey🤍: mama? What's up? Mamas🩷: where are you right now bubba? ZaddyJey: I'm handling business right now mama what are you doin up? Mamas🩷: don't sugarcoat that shit with me Josh what's happening? ZaddyJey🤍: I'm over at your crib because ol' boy and his momma were messing with Bianca and em so Bianca called you but you were sleep. Mamas🩷: is everything okay? ZaddyJey🤍: yeah mama I'm handling it I'll be home in a little bit okay? now go back to sleep. Mamas🩷: okay baby I love you. ZaddyJey🤍: I love you too ma.
CALLED ENDED.
"Was that Tiana uce?" Jimmy asked.
"Yeah, she was wondering where I was at but I told her I'll be home in a bit after this shit is over with," I replied as he nodded his head.
We saw his momma getting him up as he was limping in pain. He tried running up on me, and I sucker punched him again, as he went limp on the ground.
"Damnnnn," everyone said it together as his momma was freaking out, tapping her hand on his face.
"Y'all can leave now, so I can get back to my woman at home." I said as Jon threw my keys towards my way.
I dabbed up with Montez and hugged Bianca before heading out back home.
✧.* I finally made it home as i unlocked the door with my key while shutting it behind me making sure I locked it too. I went upstairs take off my shirt and pants that I wore seeing Tiana sleeping peacefully.
I got underneath the covers with her, pulling her back onto my chest as I felt her shift in her sleep while rubbing her eyes seeing my facial features in the dark.
"Baby? Your back?" She mumbled softly.
"Yeah I'm back tink you can head back to sleep now ight." I said softly while giving her a kiss on her forehead.
I got comfortable as I put one of my hands in the back of my head while closing my eyes going to sleep.
Under Your Touch.

Wor(l)dsmith 2: the first encounter
Posting this because I’ve been encouraged to do so. This is a series for a friend of mine but maybe, you’ll come to enjoy it too.
____________________________________________
A soft “thank you” broke the silence, as Yoongi returned you your most prized possession. For someone who had a way with words, a simple verbal gratitude didn’t feel enough.
“err?..”
“Yoongi,” He supplied with a soft upturn of the right corner of his lip, a rarity for the raven haired man.
“Right. Yoongi, could I buy you a coffee… for you know, returning my book?” You find it difficult to look at him as you speak, still hoping the contents of your book remained private, and his gorgeous face was certainly not helping matters.
“No need to or you could save the coffee for the next time we meet.”
“Next time?”
“Next time. I know I shouldn’t have peeked but you’re a talented writer, so I want to see what other worlds you can bring to life. ” Noticing the slight hunching of your body, he added, “That is… if you would like to. I know writing can be a very personal endeavour for some.”
Looking up and your eyes catching a hint of warmth behind the deep depths of eyes, much like the mug of black coffee his hands were nursing, you decided. “Next Week, same time, same place. That way it will give me time to draft a few ideas I have.” Your lips played with the idea of a smirk as you continued, “And don’t think you can get away from this. I want to see what’s in your book, Mister. It’s only fair.”
Turning on your heel, you didn’t catch the twinkle that matched the warmth, unspoken but accepted. The challenge would be to impress you, the wordsmith. He just hoped that raw poetry is something you could appreciate as much as he loved your frank yet inspired prose.
His beloved coffee set aside, Yoongi scrawled words like a madman, energised and inspired by the interaction more than any rap battle he attended. More than anything, he wanted to impress you. Your short stories resonated deep inside him and he had only dreamed of meeting a kindred spirit. So he wrote until his wrist burned and screamed at him to take a break, his mind still wandering with ideas, never fully satisfied until his tale was told.
Going to bed, feelings and ideas swirled. If there’s one thing someone couldn’t dismiss about Yoongi, it was his passion. So he let the inspiration flow as drifted off, wondering how your process was going.
*********
You on the other hand were more fickle. As much as you enjoyed writing, it didn’t always come naturally. You way with words was strained at times, agonising over what to say, and that was you on a good day. Whilst you strived to write everyday and you did see an improvement, if the feeling wasn’t there, so where your stories. What Yoongi had seen was just the tip of the iceberg of your literary endeavours. Well actually just the creme de la creme, a massive pile of floundering fish lay beneath each golden treasure.
So far you had nothing, and whilst you had a week, you knew just how strained your relationship with pen and paper could be.
So to say you were bricking it would be an understatement. It was a these times that you curled up in bed and read, hoping to find something in others that you wished to emulate. Frankly, you were looking for guidance, inspiration and aspiration. As much as others may enjoy your work, you were never truly satisfied. The hunger for that perfectly painted world, for your words to not only transport but emote the tale behind your tale was never met. You wondered if it ever would. The indents of the pages, the slightly worn spine and your callous middle finger, from how you gripped your pen so tightly, could attest… You wouldn’t give up. You lived for semantics, for imaginary worlds. Something to escape the cruelty of this one.
Sleep came dreamless and quite restless, leaving you less refreshed then you would have wanted. The fluttering of your lids and the calling of your bed just oh so tempting. If anyone questioned why you weren’t sprightly, they could frankly fuck off. It was one of those days. You’d been having them more and more recently, hence the coffee and Yoongi…
Oh, if only he knew you struggled. He must be expecting a masterpiece. What had you signed yourself up for?
********
Spending your day, writing and rewriting. Draft after draft of unsatisfactory works was doing nothing to settle your nerves. It was slowly driving you to breaking point and with one last sigh, you moved from your desk, needing to get away from it all.
Eyes bleary and headache forming, you rubbed your temples, whilst finding your favourite jacket. You hoped a walk around the town would settle your nerves, calm you down, maybe even help you drift off.
Moonlight your companion, you pounded the pavement, letting the cold air provide clarity to your thoughts, stimulating others also. At the very least, it got your blood pumping, allowing you to feel something, if only for a little while.
As you continued with your aimless path, you could hear a rumble in the distance. Like thunder, the sound called you, excited you, maybe even frightened you. Yet you were compelled to follow it. Standing by the doors of an abandoned warehouse, illuminated from within, the sound eminating from within too. You had to go. Just to check it out, you said yo yourself. If you didn’t like it, you would head back home immediately.
Stepping inside, by the looks of the environment, you figured tonight was one of the fixtures of the underground rap scene. It wasn’t your cup of tea, but your gut feeling was to stay. Not wanting to waste your little detour, you decided you’d stay, for one song. Just one song.
Your internal monologue was broken when the Master of Ceremonies announced that a another person, Augst D was going to perform next. You wondered if you heard him correctly, wondering why such a name was chosen. You figured it had a meaning to it, but it eluded you, this side of nightlight being novel to you. You didn’t know what you expected from such a name, from such a place, yet something began to bubble up.. Your body so tightly wounded that you wondered when it would bend and break.
And then a familiar gravel resonated through the space. You couldn’t pin where you recognised it from but it was more then pleasant. The rasp, the growl, the raw emotion and fire took hold of you. Left entranced, your eyes never left. A snapback covering his face, the shadow cresting an mystery that only enticed you more. But you could see how the sweat glistened in the florescent light, adding a beauty to the determination and passion in his performance.
And then as he finished, the room thundered with fans chanting, feeding of the hype, when you were just blown away by the story, the pain, the emotion. Everyone realised we was a gem, a true diamond in the rough, but they were missing out on how that roughness made him special, made him just so captivating.
And then he turned his hat around, the beak of the cap behind his head. The mystery revealed and you froze. You wondered whether the floor shaking with vibrations or was it you. Stood in front of you was Yoongi, gaze locked on yours. The warm coffee you knew before replaced by scorched earth. His lips no longer playing with the idea of a smirk, it was prominent now. Chest still heaving a little from the excursion, he mouthed the word “sneaky”. A little bit of light teasing, hoping that you would respond to just as well next week.

Title: The Ghosts You Draw On My Back
Summary: Charlotte Weston is a reluctant Vinewood actress, doing minor league roles that her grandfather, Solomon Richards, coerces her into. After one too many tantrums by demanding co-stars, she gets fed up – only to find herself talked off of the ledge by our favorite criminal-turned-producer, Michael De Santa. Will he be able to hold up his promise of being a better man, or will each of them fall victim to the Vinewood Dream?
Chapter 1: Rough Draft / Story Of A Lonely Man
-----------------------
“Cut!”
The word echoed throughout the production lot for what seemed like the millionth time that day, groans of the various staff members not lingering far behind. It was one of the warmest days in recent Los Santos memory, leaving everyone sweaty, hot, and just plain exhausted – so of course, this would be the day when her co-star, Milton McIlroy, would choose to try and pull privileges from his Vinewood star status.
“Alright everyone, good work for the day. We'll see all of you first thing in the morning, bright and early – and I swear to Christ that if we have to delay filming because you can't act like adults, I'm gonna start docking someone's pay......and it AIN'T gonna be mine!”
Charlotte found herself rolling her eyes at the director's words. The guy was one of the skeesiest directors left in Los Santos, but her grandfather, the old school man that he was, swore his loyalty to the director and had hired him on to every job in the last ten years. It certainly didn't hurt that this project was already on it's last leg before it even got off of the ground; Directors weren't exactly tripping over each other, clamoring for a chance to claim this latest film.
“Sweetpea, why don't you come on over here for a minute?”, the director beckoned, leaving Charlotte wishing that a piece of the set would somehow collapse directly on top of him, crushing him and finally freeing the entire movie cast from dealing with his tyrannical methods any longer. 'It'd honestly be doing the entirety of the world a favor', she mused, chuckling under her breath.
“Look”, he began as soon as she was within earshot. “I get that you're Solomon's grandkid and that your Daddy is the one bankrolling this entire lot – congratu-fuck-lations. That won't earn you any favors on my set.”
Popping her jaw from side to side, Charlotte struggled to maintain her temper. Letting her temper run free, no matter how warranted, would not be the kind of public image she wanted to carry for the rest of her career – although, if she had her way, this wouldn't be her career at all. Her mother's mantra (“play nice, Charlie girl. You'll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar") echoed through her head, forcing a stiff smile to appear on her face.
“You don't have to worry about me, Mr. Kent. I'll try and do better, I promise.”
The director's responding grin and muttered 'good girl' had her stomach turning, wondering if taking on this role was worth all of the stress and digusting comments.
-----------------------
“Don't forget that I have a tennis lesson tonight, so I won't be home for dinner!”
“Oh, don't you worry! How in the hell could I even dare to forget about your left hand potentially going weak if you weren't constantly jerkin' your instructor off with it??”, Michael shouted back in Amanda's general direction, knowing well that she wasn't listening to a sentence that didn't include the offer of money or a new Prada handbag.
Things in the De Santa household had been less than idyllic since their therapist's latest attempt to get the couple to 'work things out'. Amanda pulled it together for a few weeks, long enough for Tracey to go off to college (where Michael could only assume she was getting herself into some kind of trouble that would require his credit card to save her) – but as soon as that front door slammed shut behind her, the snide comments and rude remarks started right back up again. Sighing to himself over the never-ending drama, he moved the phone back up to his ear, waiting for the shocked man on the other end of the line to begin speaking again.
“Yo, is that your wife again? I gotta be honest with you, man, I don't know what you see in her.”, Franklin spoke incredulously, well aware of the fact that he was toeing a line when discussing his friend's wife and her less-than-appropriate behavior. This was his friend and he wanted to be there for Michael; It's just that his distaste for the less-than-ideal home life was hard to contain after awhile.
In the recesses of his mind, Michael was well aware of the fact that, as her husband, he should stand up for Amanda, should defend her honor and dignity. After over ten years of the same bullshit, though, he just wasn't sure he had the fight left in him anymore. It wasn't as if it was a lie – Amanda changed sexual partners almost as often as most people changed their underwear, barely even bothering to hide it from plain sight anymore. The sexy stripper that he had convinced himself that he loved nearly 20 years ago had been replaced over time with a shrewd, harping, money-grubbing shell of a person who cared more about what others thought of her than what she thought of herself. The kids were the only things that had held the marriage together for so long, and now, even that was beginning to crumble.
“I don't know, man. Do yourself a favor, F – avoid getting married until you've already lost your will to live.”
