I made some icons for my megoplita au, so here's some explanation of the relationship between the characters in this AU + icons without text in the end. (this is inspired by other tf universes and various shows, etc., it's not tied to any canon)
Relationship chart:
1)Megoplita family
Optimus and Elita are married here. The two were dating since high school and their relationship only grew stronger through years, eventually leading to their marriage.
Both OP&Elita are having feelings/dating for D-16 (and this is mutual).
Rodimus is a distant family member from OP's side but he visits his family a lot, giving that "cool uncle" energy towards Bee.
Arcee and Roddy are besties, and based on comics, I made her adopted by Ultra Magnus, with Magnus mentoring Arcee.
2) Skystar/Jetstar family
Starscream and Jetfire were also high school sweethearts but they were more "friends to lovers" troupe. Both Star and Jet wanting to become researchers in the future. Eventually, they achived their dreams â.
One day Twitch and Spitfire appeared in their lives, the twins were the important life for the two. Despite being a young parents, they always there for each other.
But after one accident, Jetfire was declared missing/dead and that had a big impact on Starscream, so he had to abandon his dreams and focus on raising Twitch and Spitfire, who are still very young.
3)Megastar family
Somehow, D-16 appears in Starscream's life when he needed someone the most. Their relationship were nice at first, D-16 helped with raising Twitch and Spitfire.
Spitfire didn't really like her new dad, so she still clang to Starscream more. Meanwhile Twitch grew really close to D-16, her friendly personality is irresistible!
But D-16 and Starscream relationship doesn't last long. I see them dealing with their own problems separately, they struggle with something ÂŤsimpleÂť like just sit down and talk, since none of them wants to bother the other. One is growing distant due to trauma of his soulmate leaving him all alone in this world, the other has no idea how to fix this, in a fit of frustration it all ends in break up. They still think of each other as the reason of it.
4) Colleagues:
I think 13 Primes are alive here, and they trust Sentinel very much to deal with the company.
Elita-One is mostly closed with D-16 since they work together, with Elita being his boss. There are some admiration D-16 feels towards Elita which grows into deeper feelings.
Starscream and Elita dislike Sentinel due to his smug personality. Sentinel makes it his personal goal to mess with Starscream throughout the day, and Elita just gets very protective over D-16.
Sentinel and Arachnid are dating here, but they're free to explore the other options. Airachnid listens to him gossiping about the others or just rambling his thoughts to her, both don't really mind it. They're just that duo who tell each other "exaaaaaactly" lol.
I also like the idea of Shockwave having that tiny crush on Elita but he would never admit it, even though it is very obvious. They're co workers but work in different department.
Airachnid and Elita rarely talk to each other unless it's about business, there's something in Elita that makes Airachnid to take interest in her. Silently staring at Elita from the corner of the room as definition of love language, aaaaaaa :p

idk if u like writing him so if u donât feel free to ignore!! but picture this, adam with a higher up reader with high authority that kinda acts like beelzebub?? like adam sees them for the first time and expects them to be all wholesome and kind but sheâs actually just a hardcore party gal! which kinda matches his frat boy persona toođ and maybe she even resembles bee a bit? UP TO U! i just love ur writing and thought of this
-đď¸ anon
ALTITUDE!âËâšâĄ
characters: adam x gn!reader
wc: 1.9k
warnings: cursing, mentions of one night stands
A/N: i'm sorry if i failed you in the whole party-fun!reader aspect i just went on a different direction and when i realised i like this a bit too much. hope you like it too anon!!!!! đŤś
You werenât ever too sure about Adam. He just seemed a bit problematic, loud, interruptive, and he never took things seriously. Not that you were the chillest person on heaven, quite the opposite, but still, there was something about Adam that threw you off. You felt like that was all a faced. You knew that, when he wanted to, he could be kind, and was actually very enthusiastic regarding his job at heaven. Not that he would ever knowingly admit it. So when Sera partnered you two for a, quite important job, you didnât know what to expect, or how to feel. At first you thought he might try to run the shop by not letting you contribute any of your ideas. He thought you were a tightass that would try to make everything boring (exactly what he said to Lute).
However, both of you were surprised once time went on, and you got to know each-other better. He realised you were actually quite fun, he might even say careless. He found himself in shock, and partially offended, when he realised you actually hosted parties every few weeks. You found out that he was deeply misunderstood. And actually really cute and charming. And you also promised to invite him to your next party, once you had finished the long task Sera had appointed you.
"Adam? Will you read that to me again?" You sat cross legged on the carpeted floor of Adamâs basement, chewing on the end of your click pen. Adam was too busy trying (and failing) to get basketballs on a net at the top of his wall to notice youâd called out to him. Dropping the pencil down on your notebook, you let out a frustrated sigh, standing to get his attention.
"Adam!"
Startled, he stopped short, turning towards you with his eyes wide in surprise.
"Yeah? You alright?" He asked, putting down the basketball and appearing in front of you.
"Yes Adam, I just wanted to get this part done," you explained, rolling your eyes in annoyance. âBesides, why do I have to work? I would also love to be able to play with that fucking basketball." It wasn't that Adam didn't work, he just got distracted easily.
"Ha! As if you could play." You felt deeply offended even though you knew you did NOT know how to play basketball.
"Wow. Just wow. I thought you would've known about my years in the angel's basketball team. I used to be one of the bests." You lied, trying to defend your dignity.
"As if! I was on the angel's basketball team. Never saw you there." "It must've been waaaay before you got in. I've been here for longer, you know."
"Alright then, prove it."
"Prove what?"
"Prove you can play." He handed you the ball and you held it.
"I'm a bit rusty." You smiled at him as you saw him grin. He could see right through you and your lies, what he didn't figure out was that you could also see right through him. So instead of shooting towards the net, you hit Adam with the basketball right on top of his head. Watching it bounce on it only to later hit the floor.
"Ouch! What the fuck was that for?" he ran his hand through his hair.
"Get to work or I'll hit you again."
"Hey! That's toxic workplace behaviour, I'm gonna have to report you now." You groaned in annoyance. "What will it take for you to work on this with me for an hour? Do we have to make a deal?" You joke with a light chuckle. Adam jumped at the opportunity to compromise, knowing that he could work if he really wanted to, and that the deal would then be in his favour.
"A deal hey?" He asks, resting his chin in his hands, looking up at you with sparkling eyes.
"Yes, whatever you want for 1 hour of your precious time," you scoff, picking up your pen again to work. As a higher ranking angel, you knew better than to be stubborn. You didn't mind having to sacrifice a little something. Besides, the end was in sight, meaning you wouldnât have to deal with him for much longer - however, you struggled to admit to yourself that it would actually make you sad not hanging out with Adam as much as you were right now, worrying you would go back to the stranger treatment you had with each other before.
"Iâm not gonna tell you until the hour is up," Adam teases, retrieving a book full of sinners' names for your work from the couch and opening it to a dog-eared page.
"Okay read it again for me, and this time slowly," you emphasise on the word âslowlyâ, watching him let out a small laugh, shifting on the floor to get comfortable.
"Okay, ready?"
"Yes, Adam."
"Okay," Adam takes a deep breath before beginning, youâre skimming over your notes, making sure all of them make sense. Adam tries to memorise some of the names before you write them, wanting rather to watch you work than have his eyes glued to the book.
Adam rests his hands in his lap, noticing the way your lips part and your tongue juts out only slightly when you concentrate. He notices you fiddling with the edge of your notebook, your fingertips grazing the spiral as it winds to bound the book. He notices how effortlessly pretty you are, and how committed youâve been to this assignment. He thought it was so funny that you were so oblivious to his blatant staring. He suddenly lets out the breath he didnât notice he was holding in.
"Adam?" You ask, the same annoyance bubbling inside you from when he didnât pay attention before.
"Right," Adam shakes his head from his thoughts and returns to reciting the book.
You hadnât noticed youâd leaned slightly into Adam, your shoulders brushing. Adam suddenly feels warm, his shoulder tingling where you were touching him. His heartbeat hammered in his ears as he licked his lips, readying himself to read the next part.
He thought of how cunning his side of the deal was, and how much more tempting it got the longer you touched him. It was a gamble, but it was one he was willing to take.
Adam rested his hand on his thigh, inching his fingers closer to your joined knees.
You look up at him, finally noticing how close the two of you had gotten, but doing nothing about the close proximity. Something felt different, the air was harder to breathe, and your stomach felt like it was housed by a million butterflies. His eyes shun as they looked into yours, your faces inching closer and closer.
Adam finished reading and silence filled the room, accompanied by the small pants of your breathing, you pulled your body away, sitting up straighter and looking more alert.
"Good reading Adam," you let out a small cough to cover the awkwardness that had just washed over you. Fuck, you were so close to kissing him, and you didnât know why. You scowled at yourself for being so cliche, and put down your notebook. Adam bit his lip in a smile as your cheeks blushed red because he knew youâd felt that too.
"Okay, deal time?"
You know you asked for an hour, but a break right now didnât seem so bad.
"Okay," you say, as he scoots his bottom across the floor to face you.
"One kiss," he says finally, your jaw swinging open in shock. A kiss? Was he serious? Did you hear that right?
"A kiss?" You repeat, chuckling. At first you thought it was a prank - classic Adam. However, his face was dead serious, as serious as you had ever seen him. You hadnât read that Adam felt anything for you, the same way you hid having a big fat crush on him by being sort of mean.
"Come on, you know you want to." He teases suddenly changing his behaviour and body language as he realised he had been perhaps a bit too vulnerable for his liking. But you has already seen him. You knew his true intentions when he asked that and you knew they matched what you wantes, so why weren't you kissing him?
Your lips form a tight straight line as you contemplate your choices. Give up the tough guy act now and cave to your feelings, or donât. It was like Adam was giving you the perfect opportunity to do what you always thought of doing.
"Okay, only one," you narrow your eyes at him as he gives you a curt nod.
âOf course, whatever the lady wants,â he sends a wink on your direction and you can't help blushing as you try to hide the redness with a laugh.
You lean forward, securing a small kiss on his cheek, almost too close to the corner of his mouth as it curled into a small smile. Your lips linger there for a moment, before you pull away, just slightly, your face still so close to Adamâs. You contemplate whether you should just go for it. But before you could decide what you wanted to do, Adam does it for you, connecting your lips in a soft, passionate kiss.
It takes you aback, but you compose yourself quickly, cupping his cheeks in your hands, as his secure to your hips. He pulls you closer, until youâre practically in his lap, straddling his hips with your thighs. His tongue prods at your lower lip, and without another thought, you open your mouth, letting his tongue explore where no one else has. The feeling was magical, and after all those nights you lay awake thinking of this moment, it finally came in full force.
You had to pull away with a gasp when Adamâs hand started to cup your bare ass under your shorts, your hands resting comfortably on his shoulders as you stared at each other.
"Fuck Iâm sorry- I shouldnât have-"
"No! Itâs fine, I just, I... I kinda like you? Adam... And I mean, I don't care if you want to just fuck or whatever. But... I guess I just don't want that." you let out a nervous laugh, wanting so badly to crawl into a hole and die from your confession. "It's not you! Well, I guess it is you? I don't mind one-night stands, I just..." Adam interrupts you by letting a small laugh, the back of his hand coming up to caress your cheek.
"I get why you assumed that. I mean, I am THE Adam, THE original dick, why would I settle down?" You roll your eyes at his cockiness and his expression softens. "But I do like you. I like you just in the way that you said it, truly."
"Really?" You ask him, your voice only just louder than a whisper.
"Yeah! I mean- youâre so smart and pretty, and weâve spent a lot of time together, Iâve enjoyed getting to know you, wouldn't mind getting to know you better. The whole of you" he moves his hand towards your waist.
âIâve felt the same way,â you reply, pulling Adam in for a hug, resting your head in the crook of his neck. He holds you close, before you sit back down on the floor across from him.
âSo⌠you think Iâm pretty?â He asks, shooting you a cheeky wink. You roll your eyes again, letting out a small laugh.

Well, it's time for my hcs. (Mostly UM and KO)
Ultra Magnus has a terrible CPTSD. Sometimes he hears a plane and immediately transforms his hands into blasters. When he talks to someone he tries to continue the dialogue, but all his attention goes to figuring out the location of the enemy. (+ he has bad sleep schedule)
I'M also has a terrible case of 'bad things happen to bots when I leave them'. He doesn't like staying away from the battle, because he cares very much for his new found family. He isn't afraid of dying for the cause, but he doesn't want to lose anyone.
At the free time he has helped some Autobots make their battle skills better. Like he spared with Miko in Apex armor so she could practice her punches and also had classes for medics (Ratchet and KO). They didn't have blasters, which is disadvantage, but they figured out the way to fight almost as good as others.
Speaking of KO. He wasn't very welcomed at team at first, so he was watched very closely. Yet sooner or later they've warmed up to him. KO was a bit afraid at first, but seeing that they meant no harm, he came back to his sassy attitude.
Also KO has some appreciation problems. When he was a decepticon he had to earn the respect and after Shockwave came along he felt very replaceable. He wasn't thanked for his work half as much as he should. So when Ratchet thanked KO in 3 season he genuinely said "you're welcome".
But the moment he felt he was accepted into team prime was when OP didn't let him on some mission. It went like "Why can't I join?", "Knock Out, comrade, you aren't in need of another warrior, yet we may use the help of a second medic." "We can't just lose medics around. Too important." Ratchet adds. After like the whole team nods. And KO felt so appreciated
After that he became very close to Team Prime and (if they stayed on earth) to kids. When some bully is rude to Jack, KO would let Darby drive himself in school just to show off. He'd watch horrors with Miko, and even tell some interesting stuff abt Cybertronian culture, organism ect to Raf
Also he'd race with Bee and Smokescreen, but he is hella competitive. Like this scene in Avatar The Last Airbender, where Azula plays volleyball. "You'll never rise from the ashes of humiliation!" "Dude... It's not that deep bro.."
Oh, and he'd be very awkward with Smokey cuz like... He tried to open him up. But Smokey doesn't mind it, saying that they're even after he put KO in the wall
The other very strange relationship he has with Bulkhead. It's because of Breakdown. Bulkhead hated him and, as we all know, KO was in a relationship with him. Bulk ofc doesn't hold anything against KO for his relationship, yet they'd have a lot of different opinions on BD. They would talk a lot, finding out more about BD's past
And boy oh boy he had a wild one. Him and Bulkhead were born in the same class. They were builders, as Bulkhead said 'I can build stuff, I can break stuff. That's all.' Yet both of them wanted to do more good in the world, so they joined the Wreckers (before the war it was a gang that helped everyone in need and protected the weak), where they've met. Bulk and BD quickly became brothers in arms but the war seperated them
Once BD heard a broadcast of Megatron's ideas of reforming Cybertron and became a great supporter. He joined the decepticons cuz he thought it was his chance to make the world better. He was so blinded by Meg's promises that he thought this crimes were justified. Bulkhead was more observant, and felt something shady and was grossed out by bombings. But the thing that brought them apart and made them enemies was BD's betrayal. Early in the war Megatron was merciless and Wreckers mostly opposed him. Breakdown pledge allegiance to Megan. He wanted whole gang to join, but they refused and Big M wanted to destroy them all. Breakdown told the location of their hideout, and when Wreckers met there, they were greeted by pistols. It was a big fight, some lives were lost. After that BD went with Decepticons and Bulkhead with the Autobots. Now Bulk hated BD for his betrayal
KO never knew abt that cuz he met BD later. Knock Out was a doctor in one of the neutral cities, that were captured by Decepticons early in the war, and decided to join the "winning team" Just to survive
After all the talks Bulkhead started to respect KO more
Knock Out, Bee and Smokey regularly forcing the gang to go to the drive in theaters.
Arcee, June and Miko have a girls nights where they judge everyone
OP and UM are very close. To the point they're mistaken for brothers (they call each other that in private)
Ultra Magnus doesn't like to show affection in public, so when someone wants to hug him or smt like that, they always ask him to another room. Like after OP came back in season 3, Optimus said smt like "Ultra Magnus, old friend, for a word". And then they are just hugging in another room
Optiratch. Just them. Married. Conjux endura. That's all
Megatron, Soundwave and Shockwave are mean girls.
Megasound cuz you can't stop me. And Shocky just third wheeling his spark out.
Shockwave actually started to like Starscream when they were left on earth.
Agent Fowler and June dating, cuz they both deserve better
KO, Arcee and Ratchet form a widow club after the film.
KO and Arcee beat Arachnid's aft together.
That's all for now.

Cybertronian Liminal spaces ideas: TFP
Tunnels (thru Mts, under cities, etc.)
Red Sand Deserts (Rust Sea Similarities)
Large Scale Industrial Sectors (Think big, automated assembly lines; Similar to their factories)
I also feel like truly gigantic cities (Lots of skyscrapers; similar to their cityscapes) would be similar enough to evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Cybertronian Specific Places:
OP - Libraries (the bigger the more nostalgic he gets) and Rome, b/c of the Collusium (I imagine it reminds him of Kaons Arena)
Megs - Rome (Same as OP), Empty Mines, and ruined Forts (even tho their forts 100% looked different, our ruins still give the same effect)
Ratch - Colleges (Academy Days, specifically the long, winding trails from one building to another), Hospital Corridors (If he has a holoform) and Oddly enough, Victorian Houses. Old and creaky, reminiscent of an old era.
Star - The Buj Kalifa (Vosian Remenicent). Sometimes Specific weather patterns, like Hailstorms or Freezing Rain, remind him of the stinging Acid rain of Cybertron. He hates Blizzards too.
Bulk - Construction sites get him. Rome as well (architecture in general, really).
Sounders - Rome, Government Buildings (specifically, the twisting hallways some important buildings have) and castles/forts.
Arcee - Tunnels, Ravines (I imagine she hid a lot on cybertron, cracks in cybs exoplates would be similar to ravines), and old houses (dilapidated buildings, slowly rotting away; similar to one specific spider incident.
KO - Raceways (obv), but also airports (hanger bays specifically) and large scale paint factories. Also, Buj Kalifa (HC that KO is a Grounded Seeker, explaining SS comment in TFP). Maybe medical tents as well? He was a front line medic after all.
Bee - Rocky mountain roads (scouting), ruins like Stonehenge, and ghost towns. Places where life has been destroyed. Also, war ravaged cities and mysterious old paths through the trees.
BD - Similar to Bulk, but add Mines and industrial buildings too.
Smokey - Libraries (not to the same extent as OP tho), old ruins, and abandoned junkyards (similar effect to the transport ship) I also HC that the escape pod made him pretty Claustrophobic. So small spaces are a no go.
Shockers - Labs, research buildings, but also government buildings (Senator days) and hospitals (too pristine/white a room; he slightly panics) HC that Shockers hates the color white with a dying passion.
Jackie - Labs as well, but also hanger bays and random bars get him too. (HC that he basically found Seaspray in a galactic bar.)
Dread/Quake - Old English/French architecture and Rome
Mags - Government buildings, Libraries (somewhat), but mainly offices and conference rooms get this guy.
Arachnid - Dug out Tunnels (insecticon hives), fancy buildings (Senete esch enough; similar to all her targets homes), and out-of-the-way villages (similar to other organic planets easiest targets)
I think that basically everyone (everyone important I think? Cliffs dead so I didn't include him lol).
HOOOOLY FUCK man you put a LOT of thought into this, this is so cool. The bit about lifeless or decayed places igniting that kinda nostalgia in Bee is actually really sad if you think about it.
Man now I wanna see an episode where a relic is found near the remains of the colosseum, and it has a lot of bots on edge.
I feel like the cities with big reflective or iridescent skyscrapers are spot on, especially in the flashbacks. To add to city scenes, in the flashbacks they had huge streets and ramps and freeways that looked a lot like ours too! (Unless Iâm remembering wrong and Iâm just nuts)

Okay so I remember you saying you wanted to add Elita to the Timeskip AU. Not sure how you plan on adding her in but if I may make a suggestion.
Maybe Optimus only thought Elita was dead. Maybe she managed to survive and found a way off the planet.
Maybe she manages to crash land on earth. The Jasper Trio finds her (Sometime after they managed to re-establish contact with the Autobots) and Elita immediately endears herself to them.
I imagine the call to Cybertron went a little something like this.
Optimus: Jack, Miko, Raf why have you called the emergency line? Is everything alright?
Jack: First the most part, but I think we found one of your friends. Raf patched her up as best he could but you and Ratchet should probably get over here as soon as possible
Miko: HEY OP! WE MET YOUR WIFE AND SHEâS AMAZING!
Optimus *Probably Bluescreening*: My⌠What.
Meanwhile Elita is panicking trying to figure out how sheâs going to explain all of this to Optimus (or for Bonus points maybe Elita also thought Optimus was dead)
First off:
Second:
Ok my ugly mess sobbing out of the way, ABSOLUTELY Y E S . Going off of how Elita-One's G1 portrayal was, and a bit of my own ideas here and there.

TFP!Timeskip Elita was one of Optimus' closest commanders, and was indeed romantically involved with him. She was there for many things, was one to dote on Bee behind her beloved's back, sass back Ratchet when he got too wound up, and be a source for comfort when Optimus needed just a moment of escape from the war. But not even good things last forever When securing the escape off Cybertron, she and Optimus were separated, and though both made it off world, it was not on the same vessels.
Both thought that would be the last time they would ever see each other.
Elita managed to secure a solo ride, but it came at a cost as she unfortunately became an easy target. In a ship with little to no defensive or combative measures, she put herself into a cryo stasis pod, in the hopes that her damaged ship would be found and rescued.
Entering the coordinates for Earth, which had been one of the last things Optimus had given her in case they did not make it together, Elita entered cryo stasis.
Sadly for her, the course was not a steady one, and being the only passenger but in stasis meant her voyage to Earth took longer than desired.
Arriving to Earth a few months after the end of RiD15, Elita was stirred from her cryo stasis due to the further damage sustained in her ship, and came online for the first time in many many years.
She wandered Earth solo for a while, regaining her bearings, and for a time didn'd leave her ship as she tried to contact Optimus, or find any nearby Autobot frequencies to tune into.
Luck would have it, she found that of Jasper's Hangar E.
Finding a vehicle mode after a few weeks, Elita set off but with low Energon levels, she didn't make it that far out before having to hide out in a discarded Energon mine, from 3 years ago.
Thankfully, she didn't need to go further to find help.
Having picked up the signals of an Autobot on Earth, one that did not fit any profile from any prior visitors, Raf and Jack set out with Miko in the armor, and a truck driven by Fowler, a smart move when they realized just what they had found.
After a brief scare and minor altercation, wherein the children made it known they knew Optimus, Elita seemed immensely relieved to know she'd made it, and help was here.
Loaded up onto the truck in her vehicle form, they hauled her back to the base, where Raf got to work putting into practice everything Ratchet had ever taught him. How proud his mentor would have been if he'd seen how well he repaired Elita.
It took just a day for Elita to bond to these young ones, making her proud of how Optimus had trained them, especially as they handled everything on their own, despite their size.
Jack was the one to contact Cybertron, while Elita rested and worked on her recovery, as well as got up to speed with Miko and Raf's help about the end of the war, and Cybertron being restored.
The above conversation happened, and they were all quite surprised to see how fast the space bridge booted up, and through it came Optimus, who was followed by Ratchet and Bee, all almost falling over each other.
When Elita finally saw Optimus for the first time in centuries, she couldn't help the silent tears flowing as she tried to limp over, but he did not let her get far before rushing over and holding her in his arms protectively, yet gently, as if this was yet another vision from the Primes that would be ripped from him in an instant if he closed his eyes.
Ratchet took over the medical aspects, while Optimus and Elita finally spoke, after thinking that for centuries, one another had been gone, one with the AllSpark and never to be seen again.
Well, Optimus had been, and Elita gave him an earful about it, but...that could wait, as she had a lot of catching up to do, and many a story to hear now that she was back online.
Bee and the kids all shared stories with each other while they waited for their turn with the rose colored war maiden, which would be quite a while, but...
It was good to be back.
Good to be with friends, loved ones, and some new sparklings, both of metal and flesh, to care for, with the war gone.
...
Though now they certainly had explaining to do , especially after Miko called her Optimus' wife.

hi I'm adopting my au hard rules RN
this new mlp infection au has me in a grimdark chokehold. so much so that I slept with the lights on last night!!! I've been sifting through so much content. My favs have been from Chloe Alonzo (etc.etcetera) and Ariel (grimskelegirl).
With that being said I've decided to set myself some hard rules for my personal headcanon!! I want to work on some self-insert art with my oc FeatherBlade, so here are some of my thoughts on the universe:
How it started: Swamp Fever (canon to the show). A small population of Hayseed Willow trees (unnamed within the show) has made root in the everfree forest near the bog. Flash bee habitats are dying and the Everfree population has been MIA. Unfortunately, as one of the few pollinators immune to swamp fever, the Hayseed Willow trees have been on the fritz. Have you ever noticed how the bog always seems a little different every time you visit? The tree's aren't just changing every time you wander near them, no, they're entirely new trees from the last time you were there. Previously overlooked due to the originating population being from Hayseed Swamps, it's been observed that Hayseed Willows have a much faster lifecycle than typical trees. Due to the lack of abundant pollination, the Hayseed Willows have been producing more pungent spores in the face of dwindling repopulation within the Everfree. "Deemed unsafe due to the threat of swamp fever, the Hayseed Willows lack studied materials. Desperate times have given us reason to look into them further. Any information is useful information. Ponies are dying, we need to find answers. These new conditions have had... detrimental effects on the larger mammal and mammal adjacent populations surrounding the area (ie ponies, bears, gryphons, manticores, etc). A spore based infection hasn't been observed in cold blooded creatures (ei dragons, kelpies, serpents, various reptilian and aquatic species). Pure avian species getting infected hasn't been observed either, their resting body temperatures tend to be higher than mammals. Could infection rates be linked to host body temperature? Does the spore infection have to grow and evolve to combat the host's immune system fever response? Conclusion unknown." The rest of notes here are scattered. Everything seems to be written with extreme haste. Regarding the mane6: Twilight: Healthy. Stuck in Canterlot hospital both due to quarantine and studying. No progress, pulling samples from infected and any known immune ponies she can find. Twi has suggested case-controlled studies in allegedly unaffected species. This idea has been highly protested, though the ponies in protest no longer seem to be... There's been various creatures being moved to and from the hospital lower levels in completely blacked out boxes. Much of staff has no idea what she's doing down there anymore. Rarity: Healthy? Currently at sweet apple acres with the apple family. The boutique was quickly breached by infected ponies. Fashionable doesn't always mean functional, and the same applied to the boutique's exterior. Rarity was hurt in a scuffle trying to rescue opal, though infection not likely. She and opal are safe. Sweetie bell is currently at their parent's home in Canterlot. Rarity hasn't been able to contact her as the phone lines are down. She's worried about her safety, but has been told the Canterlot quarantine procedures have been successful. Pinkie Pie: Healthy, too op to get infected. She made it to the Pie family rock farm. Everyone is currently safe. Ghastly Gorge has been a great natural barrier between them and Everfree forest. No infected have been sighted yet, they've all been freely roaming the farm property without worry, but it's getting too quiet outside.. Apple Jack: Healthy. Locked down at the apple family farm. Rarity, Big Mac and Apple Bloom have all been healthy and safe indoors. Granny on the other hoof is losing it. After what looked like a small surface bite with no skin breakage, they thought she would be ok. But she has since gone mute and wanders aimlessly around the house. She hasn't been seen eating or drinking anything but shows no sign of fever or infection progression. Big Mac made the decision to lock her in the barn after an incident that put the family at-risk. Apple Jack has been observing her whenever the coast is clear outside.
Rainbow Dash: Infected? Dash has been trying to convince Canterlot guards to let her in to see Twilight. Due to visible bite wound, they haven't let her in. Dash has grown neurotic under stress and hasn't given up trying to break in. She doesn't appear to be worsening but her agitation has been subject of debate on her progression. There's been talk of escorting her to the hospital but no official action has been made. Guards are growing tired of keeping her out on top of keeping the rest of the infected at bay. How long until they tell Twilight she's here? She's hurting herself trying to break in.. Fluttershy: Healthy. Under strict protection of Discord at his home. The level of chaos down in ponyville has struck fear into his softened heart and he refuses to let Fluttershy get hurt. Discord know's a thing or two about chaos but not even he could conjure up such an outbreak. It's unnatural, but caused by nature? That's exactly what's scaring him. She's been trying to convince him to let her help. Her communication with the wildlife may be what Twilight could utilize to advance in her studies. Not to mention how worried she is about the animals at the cottage. The two of them might be exactly what Equestria needs right now.. next post: royalty at canterlot + what's going on at the crystal empire, timeline on how far things have spread.

I neeeed twitch, wheeljack and scavenger wholesome family content plzâź
I was just thinking about them today!
I give some info about their little family dynamics. Just some scenarios.
Scavenger has no idea how he got here. He went from being completely solitary to basically having a mate, sparkling and no more personal space, It makes his head spin.
Cons will sleep in hammock or nests suspended above ground. Scavenger has set up his sleeping area this way. Itâs uncommon for autobots to do this (Normal they sleep on a normal flat metal slab. Seems uncomfortable but itâs what they are used too.) once Wheeljack was introduced to this way of sleeping comfortably heâll never go back to the old way. He used to call Scav a pampered con but now heâs the one thatâs pampered. Have you ever seen a cat hide under the covers on a bed and they just look like a bump? Well thatâs Twitch.
Jacky wants to learn everything he can from the Terrans. So he often designs games for twitch to play and for him to better understand her. Scavenger helps sometimes. He personally thinks there are better more efficient methods to learn about the Terrans but he still likes to see Twitch have fun.
Since Twitchâs arrival, Scavenger and Ironhideâs relationship has gotten a little better. They are civil with each other at least. Ironhide has gotten to see Scavs softer side and it makes him forget Scav was once a con.
Before twitch had her alt mode it was obvious she was going to be a flyer. Constantly jumping off high places and just general interest in heights. Watching two grounders try to make their way up a power line Iâd hilarious to see. Usually Wheeljack is doing the climbing.
The others have tried to take a hand in raising Twitch thinking they could be a better influence, Ironhide more specifically (he just wants kids.) but twitchâs comfort level around bigger bots is mostly Jacky and Scav. But over time she has gotten more comfortable around Elita, Chromia and Bee. The others are so so. Op tried to establish a connection (heâs always wish he had kids when he had the chance.) but he scares the scrap out of her so thatâs not gonna happen.
Decepticons growl, hiss and other animalistic sounds a whole lot. Itâs rude and strange to Autobots so they donât like it when Scavenger does it. Scavenger really doesnât care. Unfortunately Twitch has picked up on this alternative form of communication, she doesnât do it as much but it was definitely a shock when she growled at Ratchet (it was nothing major and she sounded like a Chihuahua ďżźreally.) Scavenger canât help but be a little proud đĽ˛. Wheeljack thought it was cute.

A silly little thing, based on a thought I had that Price looks a lot younger without his boonie XD
Set in the Rosie AU
Tags: Established PriceGaz, humor, fluff
-
Itâs almost noon by the time John picks up Kyle from the base at Credenhill. His partner is later than usual, due to some unforeseen bureaucracy after the training exercises they just finished over several days, but it doesnât matter. After three days of his absence, John is simply happy to see him again.
Kyle throws his duffel bag in the boot of the car and John smiles at his rearview mirror as Rosie starts wriggling around in her car seat in the back as soon as she realizes that her dad has returned.
John watches as Kyle pulls open the side door first, greeting a laughing Rosie with a kiss on her cheek. After three years, it still manages to ignite a warm feeling in Johnâs gut whenever he sees Kyle so affectionate with their daughter.
âYouâre back!â Rosie proudly states, and Kyle grins at her.
âHello, Rosie-Bee, did you miss me?â
Rosie spreads her arms as wide as possible and John melts a little on the inside as she proclaims, âThisss much!â
Sheâs been getting better with Kyleâs absences. The first time was a struggle for all of them, as both John and Kyle had trouble adjusting to the reversal of their roles after almost three years, and Rosie did not understand why her da was now home all the time and dad suddenly left. The tantrums she threw about missing Kyle were not fun for either of them or her.
Theyâve begun to adjust to it, though. And John is starting to understand why Kyle often sounded just as exhausted as he would after a long op. Full-time caring for a toddler is no walk in the park, he has found.
John wouldnât trade it for the world, though.
Kyle closes the side door again, and slides into the passenger seat next to John, greeting him with a soft brush of his hand to his thigh. Theyâre still in the baseâs parking lot, and public displays of affection have never been their strong suit.
âWas she good?â Kyle asks, and John hums.
âShe was,â he says, then turns around to look at their daughter, âwerenât you, Poppet?â
âI was good!â Rosie confirms with a nod, and they both laugh at the way her eyebrows draw together in a serious expression.
The drive home to Gloucester is uneventful. Kyle tells John about the training exercises and how he feels he might be ready to deploy with the 141 again soon. Itâs still something that puts Johnâs stomach in a knot sometimes, but after six months of retirement, he is slowly getting used to the idea of not being in charge of the task force anymore. Soap makes a fine captain, John made damn sure of that before he left. Kyle will be in good hands.
âCan we go to the park?â Rosie suddenly pipes up from the back of the car, once theyâre getting close to their apartment. Sheâs clearly tired of their adult conversation, and John looks at her in his mirror before glancing at Kyle.
They donât have much more planned for today, and theyâve both talked about trying to spend as much time together as they can, whenever theyâre both home.
John knows Rosie has picked up on this too, the clever girl. She knows sheâs much more likely to get what she wants when one of her dads has just returned home.
âI need to pick up some packages at the post office,â Kyle says after a beat, âSo we might as well?â
âSure,â John agrees, and canât help the fond smile as Rosie claps her hands together in excitement.
Thereâs a playground near their apartment, and the weather is nice enough. Rosie refuses to let go of Kyleâs hand as they walk there, but when she sees some of the familiar neighborhood kids, she raises her eyes to both of them to ask for their permission to go play along.
âGo ahead, Poppet,â John nods, and after some initial hesitance, Rosie skips over to the other kids. Though sheâs gotten more comfortable interacting with them, John has noticed she still always makes sure that she can see either him or Kyle.
âYou heading across the street?â he asks Kyle,
âYeah, wonât be long. Soap said he sent some souvenirs from their last op.â
John frowns dubiously at him. âIt better not be more bloody socks, weâve got enough of those already.â
âWell, the way you keep losing Rosieâs-â Kyle snorts and John grumbles something under his breath before adding, âNot my fault the fucking laundry machine keeps eating them,â
âYeah, yeah, blame the machine, sir.â Kyle pats his arm, âIâll be right back.â
John straightens his hat and makes his way to one of the empty benches scattered around the playground. He sinks down on it, nodding politely at some of the other parents around.
Rosie seems to have gotten wrapped up in some imaginary game with rules lost on John, but sheâs having fun at least. It does him good to see her interacting with the other kids. He watches her play for a while, content to do so, and almost doesnât notice it when someone else joins him on the bench.
When he looks up, he sees itâs an older woman, who gives him a kind smile. Pushing down his ingrained distrust of strangers, John opens his mouth to greet her, when he promptly gets interrupted by Rosie scampering her way back over to him.
âI found a rock,â she tells him excitedly, pulling at his hand to open it, âitâs for you!â
John lets her drop the completely ordinary rock in the palm of his hand, then smiles at her. âItâs beautiful, love.â
Rosie giggles at him, very happy with herself, and John caresses her curls for a moment as he thanks her. He tucks the rock in a pocket as she turns around and hops back to the sandbox.
âYour granddaughter is lovely,â the lady next to him speaks up, and John is about to express his gratitude for the compliment when her words register with him.
Of course itâs also the exact moment when Kyle re-appears, dropping some packages on the bench and John swears he has learned to apparate from Ghost. Clearly, he has overheard the old lady too, because as John starts sputtering, Kyle gives his most shit-eating grin before bursting into laughter.
Itâs gotta be the fucking hat. Kyle has been telling him for ages that it makes him look older, but he didnât want to believe it until now.
He drags the boonie off his head, not caring about how his hair looks underneath, and turns to the old lady with what he hopes is a polite expression.
âItâs my daughter, but thank you.â He tells her between clenched teeth.
Rosie has spotted Kyleâs return too, because she happily squeals âDad!â then scrambles towards him and launches herself into his arms.
The old ladyâs eyes flit between John, Kyle, and Rosie in confusion, as sheâs now visibly trying to figure out the relationship between them.
âOh, Iâm sorry, dearie,â She laughs, though itâs obviously uncomfortable. Whether itâs because of her error in judgment regarding his age or something else is unclear to John. âYou just lookedâŚâ
She trails off and John huffs, fiddling with his hat between his hands.
âWell, I wish you all a lovely day,â she says eventually, before getting up and making her tactical retreat toward another bench. John looks at the boonie again, then after a beat carefully folds it and puts it in his pocket.
âNot a word.â he hisses to Kyle, who innocently readjusts Rosie on his hip, still wearing that stupid grin on his face.
âAlright, Grandpa,â he chuckles, and John gives him a flat look that hopefully conveys how much this whole situation displeases him.
âWhereâs Grandpa?â Rosie asks, craning her head as sheâs confused as to what theyâre referring to. John gets up and reaches for her, pleased as she lets herself be transferred from Kyleâs arms to his without complaint.
âSorry, Poppet,â he tells her, kissing her cheek, âGrandpa isnât here right now. Heâs back in London, with grandma. Your dad is just being silly.â He gives Kyle a look that dares him to argue with it.
âOkay.â Rosie chirps, her attention already having shifted to the packages on the bench. âFor me?â She asks.
âMaybe,â Kyle muses, swiping a finger across her cheek, âIâm sure Uncle Soap will have snuck something in for you again.â
âCanât wait to see what heâs deemed appropriate for her this time,â John grumbles, setting down Rosie again so she can go back to playing. Soap doesnât have the best track record of getting age-appropriate gifts, something thatâs almost become a running joke between them.
Kyle hums thoughtfully. âI think I was wrong. Clearly, itâs not just the hat that makes you old. I think Rosie just drags it out of you too.â
âYou better watch yourself, sergeant,â John jokes back, no longer able to keep up his grumpy demeanor, âI might not be your captain anymore, but I can still put you down any time.â
âYeah?â Kyle asks, stepping closer as he lowers his voice, âBetter show me that later then, old man.â
John glances over Kyleâs shoulder, to where Rosie has gone back to happily playing with the other children, then looks back at his partner with a grin of his own pulling on his lips. They may have a kid together, but that doesnât mean he hasnât missed moments like these.
âChallenge accepted,â he says, then remembers something else very important.
He levels Kyle with his most serious glare, even though he knows it doesnât work on him anymore. âYou better not bloody tell anyone about this.â
âI swear,â Kyle promises, but by the twinkle in his eyes John can tell itâs a filthy lie.
He already knows heâs never going to live this down.

Something was off.
You sighed softly and opened your eyes, taking in as much of the darkened hangar as you could before you yawned. The kids were sound asleep, as was the Autobotsâ newest recruit (who had somehow managed to curl himself around the haphazard circle of sleeping bags and cots in a rather impressive imitation of a cat), and when you looked over you saw that Ratchet was still tapping studiously away at the main terminal, optics dimmed and distant as he worked. When your eyes adjusted you could see that it wasnât the Iacon encryptions, but what appeared to be a personnel file. You saw a small picture of Smokescreen on the upper left-hand corner and figured Ratchet was either reading in on Team Primeâs most recent addition or filling out a medical file. Either way, it was way past the medicâs bedtime.
You looked back to the slumbering foursome, taking in how Smokescreenâs doorwings fluttered minutely in time with an occasional ex-vent. You smiled warmly at the sight. The newest recruit hadnât quite found his place among the Autobot family yet, but with how well he got along with the kids you figured itâd be no time before he wormed his way into the elder soldiersâ hearts. You just hoped he wouldnât take to Miko too much, because youâd sensed a mischievous streak in him the moment youâd found out heâd managed to convince Jack to pull a Miko.
Itâd gotten Optimus the Star Sabre, but...that wasnât the point.
The girl had wanted to hit off Smokescreenâs arrival with a bang, in the only way she thought suitable for someone who knew nothing about Earth - introducing him to slumber parties. Heâd been all for the idea, jumping headfirst into the activities it entailed despite him not knowing a single thing that was going on. Heâd loved the movies you four had picked out, and had picked up on the concepts and plots surprisingly quickly.
Ratchet hadn't been too enthused about all the ruckus going on, as one would expect, but Optimus had made it a point to soothe him when the medic would begin to grumble too loudly. It was a brief reprieve for the other Autobots, whoâd been rather tense of late and needed a little night of fun, and it served to better acquaint them with their newest addition. Bumblebee seemed to get along with him fairly well, and Arcee seemed to regard him with a constantly exasperated but amused air. Bulkhead...acted amiable enough on the outside, but you worried about him. His near-fatal injury and subsequent recovery had hit him hard, and had hit his spirit harder. Youâd thought to call Wheeljack to help lift the green ex-Wreckerâs spirit, but...you didnât think the others would be nearly so inclined to welcome him back so soon after his day trip with Miko. And youâd seen the way Bulkheadâs demeanor would fall whenever he thought no one was looking - you hoped that he would bounce back soon.
You slowly sat up, being careful to make as little noise as you could manage as you slipped out from beneath the blankets and rose to your feet. You padded silently past the recharging Autobot, holding your breath when he twitched and made a soft noise. He settled down almost immediately after, doorwings flaring and closing slowly. It almost reminded you of a butterfly at rest.
You relaxed when you got closer to the main computer terminal, breathing out softly as you reached out and placed a hand on Ratchetâs pede. He jerked minutely under the unexpected touch, peering down until his optics found you.Â
He ex-vented, straightening and returning his attention to the screen. âIâm almost finished. Go back to sleep.â
âYou can finish it in the morning,â you murmured back, patting the warm metal beneath your palm affectionately. âA couple more hours of recharge than usual isnât going to hurt you, Ratchet.â
He paused, his mouth pursing briefly, and you worried that he was just going to shoo you away and keep working. He surprised you by ex-venting long and low, hitting one last button and closing the file before letting his servos fall from the keyboard.Â
âFine,â he muttered, tone weary and all too telling. âFine.â
You smiled gently. âGet some rest, you stubborn old mech. Youâre going to need it if weâre keeping the overgrown puppy over there.â
He scoffed softly, but you didnât miss the curve of a smile he was trying to hide. âYou should as well. Who knows what diabolical plot Miko has devised for tomorrowâs activities.â
âI hope she doesnât drag out the Monopoly board,â you muttered, smirking up at him. âWe may as well kiss another Autobot goodbye.â
You shared a stifled look of amusement before you both cracked and chuckled.
âSleep well,â he said, turning and walking quietly towards the open corridor.
âSweet dreams, Ratchet,â you returned, watching him go. A sense of peace settled over you and you gave the hangar a visual sweep. Everything was quiet.
But...something still felt...off. You couldnât put a finger on it, butâŚ
Well, you were still a bit tired. You wondered if you could catch a few more hours with Optimus - you were already mostly awake, but being able to hear his spark whir and his engine rumble beneath his plating always helped soothe you back to sleep.
Optimus wasnât in his quarters. Everyone else was (even Ratchet - youâd checked), but the Prime was nowhere to be seen. It was odd because Optimus was always somewhere within the base doing something - the only time he wasnât was when he went on patrol, but he always let you know when he was leaving and would sometimes invite you to accompany him if it was somewhere with little to no risk-factor. But this was unusual. Heâd just...disappeared.
It was irrational to think so, because you knew he wouldnât have left without pretense - but it was something about how quiet the silo was, dark and empty besides the kids (and Autobot) slumbering in the hangar. You could almost hear Bulkhead snoring from where you were, the sound still ringing in your ears since youâd wandered through the hall leading to each of their quarters. (Itâd just about scared you to death, the entire corridor dead quiet then filled with an inhuman roar unlike any youâd heard before - it was only after youâd plastered yourself into the nearest corner, trying to keep your heart from beating itself out from between your ribs, that you realized it sounded like Bulkhead.) But the silence, nigh oppressive in its grip, reminded you too much of the long three months that Optimus had been under Megatronâs influence as his past self, memories gone in wake of spending the energy of the Matrix of Leadership on forcing Unicron back into stasis.
You had a sudden, irrational apprehension bubble low in your stomach, and you began to search the base.
He wasnât in the corridors, or the relic vault, or the energon refinery. He wasnât in the storage room, or any of the other massive, unused warehouse-type rooms. He wasnât even in Ratchetâs private lab, which had been your last idea. You even checked his quarters again, just in case your eyes had been screwing with you and you hadnât actually seen the gargantuan red and blue titan lying on his berth. The entire base was lacking one Prime, and you were getting worried enough that you were starting to consider going to wake Ratchet up to help you find him when you reentered the main hangar and your eyes alighted upon the large metal platform that served as an elevator of sorts, along with its human-sized counterpart that Fowler used when flying in.
MaybeâŚ
As you climbed the ladder up to the platform and sized up the elevator, you crossed your fingers and hit the button with an upward-pointing arrow. The doors slid open smoothly and without a sound, fortunately, and you breathed a sigh of relief as you cast a brief glance over your shoulder at the kids to make sure they were still asleep. Satisfied to see that they were, you stepped inside and folded your arms as the doors shut again. The machine rumbled to life quietly, and the sudden tug of gravity had you drumming your fingertips anxiously against your arm as you ascended.
A few moments later, it stopped. The doors opened once more and a cool gust of air made you shiver. The night was dark and it took a few moments for your eyes to adjust, but when they did you paused. The sky was an inky black, moon a sliver of a crescent but glimmering a bright ivory all the same. It cast a ghostly silver glow across the relatively flat top of the silo, the sand and stones washed out from their usual rich red. It was a bit difficult to distinguish anything of the horizon from the dark skyline, but the glimmer of metal gleaming under the moon near the edge of the mesa caught your attention.
There he was.
You breathed out softly, suddenly feeling not so confident. He was fine. He was probably just taking a moment to himself, enjoying the peace and quiet. You wished that he was resting, but you understood that having much privacy in the silo was sparse when you had three other giant mechs (now four) and one femme occupying it. Optimus had always been quiet by nature, so it made sense to you that needing it occasionally would be part of it, too. (...It made you wonder why he offered for you to go along with him on his patrols alone, honestly. That was probably the only me-time he ever got, save for moments like these.)
Your worry satisfied for the most part, you debated on returning to your makeshift bed and trying to get a few more hours of sleep. You were tired, and your eyes were heavy, and you werenât sure why youâd woken up to begin with.
A heavy ex-vent, audible even from where you stood, caught your attention before you heard a soft, low rumble that was unmistakably Optimusâ voice. No one else was out there, so the fact that he mustâve been talking to himself made you pause. His words were unintelligible, and you pondered on whether you should leave him be or confront him. But the note of sadness in his tone made your decision for you.
You padded across the mesa, shivering as the breeze picked up a bit and tugged at your hair teasingly. You wrapped your arms around yourself, rubbing the flesh of your arms with your palms and trying to keep your teeth from chattering. The closer you drew to the Prime, the more distinct his voice became - but you quickly realized that he was not speaking English. It couldâve only been Cybertronian. Youâd heard snippets of it before, brief mutterings and stressed exclamations from the others. And you could only describe it as music.
The tones and harmonics of his voice seemed to rise and fall and mingle as he spoke, rolling and chittering and rumbling through syllables that held no meaning to you. It sounded like he even used his engine to add depth to the sounds, his voice cutting through the air with its deep bass. It seemed deeper, somehow - it sounded as though it were coming directly from his chassis and pouring out of his vocalizer.
It was the most beautiful thing youâd ever heard.
You were suddenly struck with the desire to learn it, but you reasoned that it would be practically impossible. Mechanical beings such as the Autobots were simply more capable of producing more sounds that humans could, in that they could use more of their already more flexible vocals than humans were able.
But the thing that struck you most about Optimusâ indecipherable words was how mournful he sounded. The subtle whistles and whirs and trills descending through the syllables were distinctly sad, and you finally stopped walking when you were a few yards behind him.
"Optimus...?"
He stopped abruptly. You watched as he stilled, his digits sinking into the sand beneath them slightly. He slowly turned, and you swallowed when his optics, dim but still brilliant in the dark, focused on you.
"Sorry," you blurted, shame flaring in your face as you dropped your eyes and clutched at your arms. "I - I couldn't find you earlier, so I just - I wanted to make sure you're okay, but I can - I can go now, if-"
He murmured your name, a gentle serenity against your fluster. It calmed you embarrassingly quickly. "...you are not disturbing me. I was...merely pondering aloud." He turned his servo over and made a gesture for you to come closer. "Please, sit."
You did as he bade you, shuffling forward and settling in the dirt a healthy distance away from him. His servo came to rest in the dirt once again, and you were enraptured by the subtle motions of him tracing circles in the fine, dry grains.
"...difficulty sleeping?"
You blinked, craning your neck back to look up at him. His expression was curious, and mildly sympathetic. "Hm? Oh, uh..." You brushed your hair back out of your face, inwardly grimacing at how oily it felt. "I...I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. Thought I'd find you. I...I hope you don't mind."
"Of course not," he responded. "I did tell you that you could seek me out should you ever need me, did I not?"
"Yeah," you said, biting back the urge to 'sir' him. He'd told you before not to worry about formality with him. "I just...I didn't want to irritate you if...y'know. I didn't want to overstay my welcome."
"You could do no such thing," he assured you, his tone almost frustratingly soothing in how it instantly relaxed you. "You are always welcome to confide in me."
You sighed softly, dipping your head in an attempt to hide your smile. "Thanks, Optimus. Really. That means a lot more to me than I can say."
"You are more than welcome." And God, when you looked back up and caught the subtle smile playing at the edges of his optics and mouth, you swore you felt all the blood in your body rush up into your face. "I am here for you, always. Even when it may seem as though I am occupied with other things."
You nodded, his gentle words relaxing you. You shifted closer to him minutely, wondering just how a small, insignificant being in a world full of people such as yourself could've ended up with the privilege to know Optimus and have his support and confidance.
And then you remembered his sorrowful tone from mere moments earlier.
"...You know, I...you can come to me, too," you said tentatively, trying to look at him steadily but failing when he tilted his helm slightly and God he looked absolutely ethereal in moonlight- "I mean, I know I'm not the best person out there for advice, and I probably wouldn't be much help in the long run, but...I like to think I'm a good listener." You bit the inside of your lip and reached out, pressing your palm against the flat planes of the digit nearest you. "I'm here for you, too."
He studied you for a long, silent, nearly suffocating moment, optics taking in your face and form, expression unreadable. Then he ex-vented, long enough that the warm air gushed over you and made you shiver. His demeanor softened and you relaxed with he gave you a warm, grateful look. "I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you."
"You're more than welcome," you echoed with a ghost of a smile, your insides fluttering as he returned it.
After a split moment, you tore your gaze from his and exhaled, taking in the landscape stretching out before you for miles. The moon cast a silver glow across the desert, making it look otherworldly with the long, inky black shadows and subtle traces of nocturnal life stirring. The stars were breathtaking so far out from town, speckling the sky like iridescent dots of paint glittering against the dark expanse of night. A breeze picked up from the east, making you shudder minutely. Optimus turned his servo up on its side, shielding you from its chilly grasp.
"So..." You nibbled your lip, trying to break the silence. "...what do you think of Smokescreen?"
Optimus seemed to stew on your question for a while before responding. "...He seems to have much potential. But...he is young and has much to learn. Earth poses a challenge to him, as well as learning to be discrete among humanity. He doesn't yet understand that there can be dire consequences to war. But..."
You quirked a brow. "But?"
"...But I find his outlook to be good for morale, though unfortunately it seems to be having a negative effect on the others. They consider him naive, and while it holds merit, he is more than that. He still has hope. He still has courage, though it has the tendency to be...misplaced." Optimus paused for a long moment, looking thoughtful. "It gives me faith that there is still a chance we can end the war."
You nodded, folding your hands together and twiddling your thumbs. You studied the gooseflesh on your arms, soaking in his words. You felt his gaze return to you.
âAnd what do you think of him?â
You directed your gaze to the sky, tilting your head in thought.
You liked Smokescreen, in all honesty. You liked him a lot. He was zealous and bright and energetic and had such a sunny outlook on the world, looking at Earth as something new and fun and adventurous. Heâd already made several inquiries to both you and the kids about humans and your culture, listening intently to every answer and explanation. He seemed to absorb everything he heard from everyone, and he was always eager to learn and help the other Autobots with even trivial things.Â
Honestly, it was...refreshing. He was fresh meat, you could say, but you hadnât realized just how exciting getting to know an alien could be - not to say that the others werenât, just that theyâd already had a basic understanding of the high points of human culture when youâd met them (no thanks to Agent Fowler, in all likelihood). You hadnât had to explain the process of eating or sleeping or going to school to them (excluding the Satan's Waterfall Incident), but Smokescreen was a whole other ballpark. Youâd worried he would have a processor crash when heâd asked why âthose tiny round organicsâ were so different, and were they related to you humans? Having to explain a humanâs life cycle had never been on your list of âThings To Expect When Making Alien Friendsâ, but Ratchet had mercifully been there to help translate it into something comprehensible to the greenhorn Cybertronian. Luckily he hadnât gone into the production of said âtiny round organicsâ. You werenât looking forward to giving a being several hundred years older than you The Talk.
âI think heâs going to fit in well,â you said finally, looking back up and meeting the Primeâs gaze. âWeâll just need to catch him up on Earth stuff first.â
âJack has made a good effort thus far,â Optimus said, âbut Smokescreen still has much to learn of Earth and its inhabitants." He raised an optical ridge. "I have noticed you've been educating him on some things.â
You flushed. "Yeah, I, uh...he always comes to me with questions, for some reason. I'm not really the best person to go to for stuff like that but I try my best."
"You seem to do fine," Optimus told you. "He has come to me, as well, but it seems that he struggles keeping himself composed when in my presence."
You laughed a bit at that, easily perceiving the puzzlement in his tone. "Optimus, he worships the ground you walk on. You're his hero. I can understand why he'd get so flustered around you."
He blinked, optics rounding minutely. He genuinely looked surprised.
"What, did you think people don't admire you?" you asked, a dubious half-smile twisting your lips. "You're inspiring, and honest, and gentle...all of us respect you. It's hard to be as good of a person as you are and we all look up to you because of that. It's hard not to like you."
His optics brightened significantly and he looked away, engine rumbling quietly. He was obviously at a loss for words.
Humble, too, you thought with a soft smile. And entirely too cute.
You gave him time to recollect himself, continuing to take in the quiet, peaceful air around you. It struck you as odd, sometimes, how different things could change between night and day. You were actually chilled, where you'd be sunburnt and struggling for breath had the sun been out instead of the moon. You'd be able to see distant cars on the highway, but instead you could see the faint glow of Jasper City's lights on the horizon. It wasn't enough light pollution to harm the starfield above you, thankfully, and you began to pick out the constellations you knew of that you could see.
Sirius...Ursa Major...Ursa Minor... Your eyes lit upon a familiar row of three stars, and you grinned to yourself. Orion.
"Did you know we have a constellation called Orion?" you asked, glancing up towards the Prime next to you.
"I have heard of it," he responded, seeming to have finally regained his bearings. "Though I have never taken the time to find it myself."
"There," you said, pointing and directing his gaze towards the general vicinity of the formation. "Those three stars in a row. His body is kind of shaped like an hourglass, and his arm's above his head holding a club. See it?"
"...I do." He tilted his helm, seeming to take it in. "It has to do with Grecian mythology, does it not?"
"Yeah," you affirmed enthusiastically. "His full name is Orion the Hunter, and I think the Greeks considered Sirius to be his dog. He battled a bunch of monsters, including Scorpio, but...I don't really know much else." You looked back up to him. "Did your old name just happen to translate to Orion or was it the closest equivalent you could find?"
Optimus' optics lit up slightly at the question. You wondered if he enjoyed discussing languages or if he just liked answering questions in general. "My original name in Cybertronian stood for âhunter of peaceâ, or so Iâve been told. Orion Pax was the most basic translation that could be made.â
You smiled at the knowledge and, recalling the rumble of his native tongue from minutes earlier, you hesitated. âCould you...what does it sound like? In Cybertronian?â
âI spoke Iaconian before the war began, seeing as it was where I was placed after I was forged. I learned Cybertronian Standard after the war began, which became the normal method of communication to prevent misunderstanding.â He shifted minutely, resetting his vocalizer, before letting out a low trill of syllables overlaying each other in a smooth, pleasing roll. "That is my name, in Iaconian, and in a self-identifying context."
Your brows rose with interest. "Does that mean you have different dialects? And different meanings for the same word?"
Optimus' expression warmed. "There were many dialects before the war, but the provinces had their own primary languages. Standard was used for trade and political interactions. And yes, some words or phrases change slightly depending on who is saying them. For example, my name would sound slightly different if Ratchet were to say it as opposed to one of the others because of how long I have known him as my oldest friend." His optical ridges pinched slightly, mouth pursing in thought. "It is...difficult to explain. But Cybertronian is incredibly complex compared to many Earth languages."
"Well, that's probably because you have a different vocal range than we do," you supposed. "I...I heard you, earlier - I wasn't trying to eavesdrop or anything, believe me - and it's not like I could understand anything you were saying anyway," you amended hurriedly. "But I noticed you were using your engine to make sounds, too."
Optimus dipped his helm, optics glowing in praise. "That is a very astute observation. We use it for filler noises of varying sorts."
Relieved that he didnât seem to have taken offense to your (half) accidental overhearing, you sagged with a soft sigh. You found it in yourself to smile up at him dorkily. âThatâs so cool. Thereâs so much about your culture that I donât know, and...â You chuckled softly, shaking your head. âItâs kind of overwhelming to think about. I mean, Earth has over seven thousand languages, not to account for all the people and cultures that speak them. Every country has their own dos and donâts and thereâs just so much for just one person to handle. Weâre lucky if we can learn more than one or two languages.â You looked out towards the stars again, wondering if you could see Cybertron from so far away. âAnd then, to think about your planet, too, on top of thatâŚâ
He hummed softly. â...Part of what I enjoyed most about being an archivist,â Optimus rumbled, âwas that I never stopped learning. There was always new information, or old data waiting to be discovered in the Hall. I was often teased by my coworkers for leaving late and coming early so I would have time to myself among the tomes and files.â You glanced up at him and saw that he, too, was gazing at the starfield stretched out above the both of you. âI...was devastated when Iacon fell, and further still when the Hall did. It felt as though the last vestiges of home - the last semblance of assurance and safety - were taken from me.â He was silent for a moment. âBut coming to Earth has helped, in a way. There is still much to learn, and Iâve enjoyed reading what I can about your planet. It...fascinates me, how vastly different everything here is to Cybertron,â he admitted, his optics flashing faintly. âI enjoy being here, despite...despite our circumstances.â
What a nerd, you thought, stifling the creeping sense of sadness low in your belly. At least he didnât hate his arguable prisonhouse. (You couldnât say the same for the others, though - particularly Ratchet.)
âI know itâs unlikely that itâll ever happen again,â you began slowly, tentatively. His optical ridges quirked in curiosity. âBut Iâd love to see Cybertron if I ever got the chance. You always make it sound so beautiful.â
Optimus, while he looked somewhat pleased with your confession, deflated visibly. âThere isnât much to see, Iâm afraid,â he responded quietly. âAccording to Arcee, time has rendered it in a worse condition than we left it.â
âStill,â you were quick to rebut firmly, âitâs your home. Even if I could just see a snippet of it for myself, itâd be worth it.â
Optimus regarded you a long moment, optics shuttering in thought. Then, his mouth lifted the slightest of margins. âShould that ever happen, unum parvum, I will be the first to show you.â
Something in the way he rolled the ârâ in the distinctly foreign word gave you the impression it was Latin or of Latin descent, but you wouldnât doubt it if it was some sort of Cybertronian word, either. And even though you didnât remark upon it, for some reason it still flustered you. So, out of your head as you were, the first words that came to mind were the ones that left your lips (unfortunately). âItâs a date, then.â
As soon as you said it, you felt the bottom of your stomach drop out and your face was engulfed in invisible flame. Much to your shock (and relief), however, Optimus merely chuckled - actually chuckled, which - while you were delighted to hear it coming from him for once - didnât help the butterflies in your stomach at all, dammit-
â...will be sure to keep it in mind, should Alpha Trionâs message hold merit,â he said.
You recalled the events that had happened not too long prior, how the Star Sabre had begun to glow an ethereal blue and, with it, Optimusâ optics. He hadnât elaborated on it any further than what heâd already shared - the Omega Keys and the possibility of being able to restore Cybertron (at least, not with you or the kids).
Despite your tendency to let the Autobotsâ private, important matters lie, you had to admit that you were extremely curious. It could mean the war as you and they knew it.
âWhat did he say?â you inquired.
Optimusâ mouth pursed and he seemed to consider his words, his digits twitching beside you minutely. âHe gave me the information necessary for the acquisition and use of the Omega Keys, but shared little else.â
You narrowed your eyes. Something in the way his optics shifted when he spoke didnât sit right with you, but you had no right to demand answers from him. You trusted him, and you wanted him to trust you, too - and that included knowing when to keep your mouth shut and your suspicions to yourself.
His shoulders dropped, though, cutting off any words you couldâve said. âIt...troubles me,â he admitted, ex-venting heavily. âIt seems there has been such little time since my...lapse in memory, and yet so many things have happened since. Time seems to be slipping from my grasp, andâŚâ His digits twitched, as though on reflex. â...thereâs little I can do to retrieve it. I have tried accessing the memory banks stored within the Matrix, but it seems that restoring my full memory until I forced Unicron back into stasis overwrote what I experienced on the Nemesis.â His expression pinched. âI would have been able to access the relics much sooner had I been able to remember.â
âOptimusâŚâ You blinked, taken more than a little off-guard at how readily heâd cracked his armor open, even if it was only just a sliver enough to see into his inner thoughts. You just hoped you could offer something worth his time. â...I think in some ways it was for the best.â
That seemed to catch his attention, as his optics refocused on you almost instantly.
âI mean,â you started, your face warming, âI would rather you have a tiny gap in your memory over you not remembering anything at all. Can you imagine what wouldâve happened if Jack hadnât been able to access Vector Sigma in time? Or missed the opportunity to restore your old memory?â You rubbed at your arms, not wanting to dwell on the possibilities of what could have been. âEven if we had managed to have gotten you back without using the Key, I donât know that things wouldâve turned out the same.â
âMost definitely not,â he agreed.
âButâŚâ You dipped your head, studying the sand beneath you. âEverything happens for a reason. We were still able to accomplish what we have since we got you back, and I feel like youâre still as strong as ever, even if you are missing a few memories.â You risked a glance up at him. âAnd, for what itâs worth...Iâm just happy youâre okay, and there wasnât any severe damage from expending that much energy. It couldâve turned out so much worse, and I think we were blessed to scrape by with such little trouble.â
âI didnât have the impression that the time I was absent constituted as mere trouble,â he rumbled. His optical ridges were furrowed in worry. âYou were all in danger, severely so, and I wasnât there toâŚâ
âOptimus,â you pressed gently. He fell silent, watching you attentively. You swallowed. âWhatâs done is done; whatâs gone is past. You canât dwell on whatâs happened because even you canât stop and alter time. As cool as you are.â You squeezed his digit in hopes of it being a comforting gesture. âJust focus on all the good things that have happened since then. We got a new Autobot, and we managed to get ahold of some of the relics. You got your memory back, and youâre home with us and not with the Decepticons.â You tilted your head slightly. âI think weâre blessed, despite the circumstances. I feel blessed.â
Optimus studied you for a long, long moment, optics shuttering and flickering as he thought intensively. After a while, he lifted his helm back up and studied the horizon once again, and you felt that that particular branch of the conversation was now closed. The air shifted, and you shifted closer to his leg in hopes of getting a little warmer.
Silence followed, peaceful and still. You studied the stars, picking out constellations you werenât normally able to see due to sheer light pollution, even finding your zodiac sign among the glittering expanse at one point. But even though youâd seen his tight expression ease somewhat after youâd finished talking, Optimus still seemed...off. Absent, maybe. Distant. His optics were dull, unfocused, and dimmed. His demeanor was not his usual careful neutrality. Instead, he just seemed...empty. And it worried you.
âAre you okay?â you asked softly, sincerely. He blinked, optics brightening somewhat as he turned his helm to gaze down at you. âYou still seemâŚâ You pondered on the right word, nibbling the inside of your cheek before settling on the simplest word that came to mind. â...troubled.â
Optimus remained silent, gaze unwavering. He only returned his optics to the horizon before you both, still oddly emotionless. You began to worry for him in earnest, apprehension bubbling low in your stomach, before his digits clenched minutely on the sandy earth beneath you. In a voice softer than you had ever heard from him, he murmured, âIn all the centuries that this war has stretched its hand into, this day remains to be one of the worst that I have known.â
You blinked in surprise, not having expected anything quite like that. You didnât know what to say, wondering if it had to do with the events in the past week - Smokescreen arriving, the Star Sabre. Maybe it had to do something with Alpha Trionâs message? Youâd never heard such plaintive despondency in his normally soothing rumble. It caused sadness to reverberate through your body in an instinctive, sympathetic response.
Optimus, fortunately, did not discontinue his train of thought in lieu of your lack of a reply. âThere have been immeasurable losses on both sides,â he continued, softer still. His optics were distant again, unseeing. âSo many lost to the tides of bloodshed and hatred - enemies and friends alike. Family.â His helm dipped minutely, the light in his optics fading until you could scarcely make out their glow in the dark. âInamorata.â
Never before had you heard that particular word, nor were you certain it was even English, but something in the way he said it - the enunciation, the tone, how it left his glossa and lip plating - struck you as deeply intimate and plainly implicative of its only possible meaning.
You lowered your eyes to the hem of your shirt, plucking at the cloth and thread stitching. âI didnât know you...I didnâtâŚâ You bit your lip. âI...Iâm so, so sorry, Optimus.â
He fell silent for a long time, and you were too saddened to risk seeing his expression. You could feel it in your gut - saying the wrong thing, or doing the most minor action could tip this over the edge and result in more hurt than good. Better to let him address it than risk you bungling it up with your...self.
âYour sentiment is greatly appreciated,â he said finally, genuine and quiet. âMore than you know.â
You finally plucked up the courage to look at him, and found that his optics had regained some of their normal light. His face was drawn, though. Restrained. As though grasping at his self-control more than he usually did.
You suddenly felt very, very small in comparison to the massive servo resting on the ground between you and his seated form, the long, flat digits dragging shallow but broad furrows into the dirt.
âWhat was she like?â you asked finally, not knowing what else to say. You almost regretted speaking as soon as the words had left your mouth at the resulting ex-vent that left his frame and washed over your body. You shuddered at the warmth of it, your flesh prickling at the sharp contrast against the cool night air.
You almost didnât expect him to answer your half-hearted attempt to divert the conversation away from the obviously traumatizing event heâd probably been dwelling on, but he tilted his helm back and focused his gaze on the stars twinkling silently above the both of you.
âShe was...everything.â He paused a long moment, seeming to gather his thoughts. âShe was brilliant, and bright, and always had an anecdote to offer. She always seemed to smile, no matter the situation.â His optics dimmed suddenly, optical ridges lowering minutely. âI found that she was also a fierce and dedicated warrior when needed.â
You clasped your hands loosely around your arms to fight against the chill of the night seeping into your flesh, studying his demeanor and movements. Youâd never thought that Optimus wouldâve had someone, even before the war, but now that thought just made you feel ridiculous. Of course Optimusâd had someone - who wouldnât have wanted him?
âHow did you meet?â you asked, trying to fight against the sudden tightness in your throat. âWas it still when you were an archivist?â
You didnât expect him to respond as quickly and as easily as he did. âYes. Though it was through rather...unsavory means,â he said slowly. His optics perked back up, however, and you could see the faintest suggestion of a smile softening the lines that had appeared from his frown. âShe was a scientist, a naturalist, and a part of a group that was attempting to defend the natural flora and fauna of Cybertron, long before the war when the Council was attempting to expand the cities and populated areas to accommodate for newbuilds. They were protesting outside the Hall, and I was sent by my peers to settle them down and attempt to dissuade them from loitering. They claimed I was the most capable mediator and peacemaker, but I suspect that they simply didnât wish to deal with the issue themselves.â
âCoworkers,â you remarked.
âIndeed,â he agreed lightly. âWhen I emerged from the Hall, they were already agitated by a few enforcers trying to get them to leave. I attempted to calm both sides, but someone threw a rather sizeable waste bin at one of the enforcers and struck me accidentally. I woke in the hospital where Ratchet worked, and there was a rather irate femme arguing with him.â Optimus nearly smiled, nearly revealed his denta, and his optics were borderline sparkling. âThat was my Ariel.â
Never before had you seen Optimus with such an open expression. No longer was he hiding his inward self under layers and layers of armor and formality and restraint; there werenât any subtle cracks in his demeanor to hint at what was going on in that helm of his. He feelings were laid bare, open and plain as day to see, and it was something you were struggling to comprehend. And it was nothing like youâd ever been able to draw from him.
âShe apologized, once she realized I had come back online,â he continued, seeming not to notice your shell-shocked stare. âRatchet began to lecture her, but I dissuaded him. It didnât seem that it had been intentional, though I did admonish her for attempting to harm an enforcer. She claimed sheâd simply been attempting to get them to leave.â He tilted his helm back, gazing upwards. âAfter that, she would visit the Hall occasionally. We discussed our respective fields of study, and she was dedicated to her cause unlike any naturalist I had met. She was fiercely intelligent, witty, and wouldnât hesitate to let one know exactly what was on her mind.â His digits gripped the ground slightly, as though looking for purchase. âShe was the most beautiful femme Iâd ever met in my life.â
You pursed your lips, wringing your hands before settling them on your lap in tight fists. âSounds like she was good for you.â
âIt took a long time to build a friendship,â he murmured. âWe were similar in some ways, strikingly different in others. But some things are best built gradually.â He looked down to you, catching your eyes. âWouldnât you agree?â
You hesitated, biting the inside of your lip fiercely. You tried to quash the low simmer of emotion in your belly, doing your best to offer him a smile. âI do.â
Optimusâ expression shifted minutely, softening, and he released the ground before curling his digits around you carefully. The warmth seeped from his servo into your chilled flesh and you leaned against the firm metal gratefully. Your face warmed with a mixture of shame and puzzlement. There was a knot low in your belly, but you couldnât determine the cause.
âIt sounds like she made you really happy,â you murmured, half to yourself. Optimus hummed quietly.
âWe became conjunx endurae shortly before the war began,â he rumbled, a mite more somber. âSparkmates, I believe is the term youâre more familiar with. A more intimate equivalent to a spouse.â His thumb pressed into the flat of your back, nearly engulfing you, and he began to rub small circles between your shoulder blades that seem half-minded. âShe took on the name Elita One when I became Prime. I...I lost her the same day we fled Cybertron. She didnât make it to the spacecraft in time. She was defending a medical envoy attempting to flee off-world.â When you looked up in concern at the drop in his voice, you saw him grimace and press his other servo to his windshield plating, the faint echoes of pain plainly written on his face. âI felt it, before the reports ever came in. The feeling of my spark being severed from hers, shrinking and dying...it was the worst thing I have ever experienced. Worse than...worse than anything, in all of the war.â
That was something that had never occurred to you before, as obvious as it was. Ratchet had explained the concept of sparkmates to you briefly at your curiosity, and youâd been enraptured by the idea that two mechanical beings with such a unique core as a spark would combine them and, essentially, give pieces of themselves to each other. Over time, the sparks would gradually grow into each other until, potentially, they would be nigh indistinguishable from each the other. But youâd never thought about what would happen if one passed before the other. Ratchet had stated that if sparkmates had been bonded for a long enough time and one of them passed prematurely, it could endanger the surviving spark and potentially drag it down with it.
But here Optimus sat, and that in itself was an assurance that heâd come out of it mostly all right. Physically, at least. The emotion was palpable in his voice, the air felt unbearably heavy around you. His optics had dimmed and his servo was still pressed tightly to his chassis. You wondered if it felt like ghost pains - like when someone lost a limb and their brain still tried convincing them it was there.
âIâm sorry,â you whispered, because you honestly didnât know what else to say. Youâd never experienced anything quite like that, couldnât offer any advice or true sympathies - this was one thing that you couldnât help him with, but...a part of you was grateful (and more than a little humbled) that heâd still decided that he trusted you enough to share his pain, no matter how old and scarred over, with you of all people.
Optimus seemed to withdraw from his inner thoughts, optics shuttering as they refocused on you. He dropped his other servo to rest on his thigh, the flat of his thumb dropping to the small of your back.
âIt was a long, long time ago,â he responded finally, voice more even than it had been. Still, you didnât miss the lingering, subdued inflection. âIt has become...bearable. ButâŚâ The corners of his mouth upturned, just so, and you felt an odd, warm prickle - something like static - brush against the back of your neck. It made you shiver. â...being here helps more than one might would think. And...youâŚâ He paused, thoughtful. He dipped his helm. â...you have shown me that it would do no harm to take time to myself, to reflect and decompress, and...I owe you deeply for that. I had forgotten how.â His optics glowed with the smile he would not outwardly show. âYouâve reminded me how to meditate on the past without dwelling on it, when I thought I had lost all meaning of it. Thank you.â
Your face felt as though it were on fire. You floundered for words, mouth dropping open and closing several times before you settled on clenching your teeth together and clutching your shirt for dear life. âIâŚâ You swallowed. â...youâre welcome,â you managed feebly.
Optimusâ engine rumbled, the sound comforting in and of itself, and he returned his gaze to the stars again. You let out a soft exhale, shifting to slump against the solid curve of his thigh. He adjusted his servo accordingly, draping it lightly over your frame to protect you from the chill. You closed your eyes, resting your cheek against the cold metal.
Something occurred to you, silly in that you hadnât thought of it sooner.
â...You were talking to her, werenât you?â you murmured.
Optimus was quiet for a while, but you werenât particularly looking for a verbal answer - his silence was answer enough.
You heard him ex-vent, felt the air shift slightly. His digits tightened over your form minutely. â...I still feel I carry a part of her with me, despite her undoubtedly being one with the Allspark,â he explained softly. âIt...helps. Death is a distance unlike any other. Todayâs date is...it is when I lost her. When we left Cybertron.â
Nibbling the inside of your lip, you peeked up at him. âYou must miss her a lot.â
âI do. But I have accepted it. Perhaps one day I will see her again.â He dropped his helm, gazing down into the desert below the mesa. âI...do not possess supernatural beliefs, despite my ties with Primus. But she made a promise to stay with me, once, before the war began, should she ever be parted from me prematurely.â He let out a quick ex-vent that couldâve been a half of a chuckle. âThere have been myths of lingering sparks, that those departed would resist the pull of the Allspark and continue to watch over those they care for, though they are believed to be just that. Rumors of seeing shadows of frames out of the corner of oneâs optic, or flashes of light that some believed to be sparks have even been recorded in ancient texts - but science as we know it has proved it to be impossible. Still, IâŚâ
He trailed off, if not a little uncertain, and your expression softened. You tried offering him a wry smile. âThat sounds like will-o-the-wisps,â you remarked.
Optimus raised a curious optical ridge.
âItâs an old English myth,â You explained. âA lot of people believed that they were spirits of the dead lingering around to guide people - whether it was to good or bad places depended on different interpretations. But theyâre actually just little sparks of discharge in the air.â You shrugged, contemplative. âItâs interesting that we have a similar concept of it.â
The Prime hummed in agreement. âYet another instance where our culture seems to have passed itself off to yours through time.â He paused. â...Sometimes I feel as though she has been with me. Moments on the cusp of recharge, or overwhelmed in a battlefield. I refuse to believe that she is truly gone.â
âThat comes with having faith, I guess,â you murmured, chewing your lip. âOptimus?â
âYes?â
âYou know itâsâŚâ You pressed a hand to his palm, wondering if you should say it. You decided that being plain wouldnât hurt, just this once. â...itâs okay to grieve, Optimus. No one would be able to hold it against you to mourn for your wife.â
Optimus stared, mouth opened slightly. He went to speak, hesitated, stopped. Then ex-vented shakily. âPerhaps in a different context. But...I am a Prime, the leader of the...I cannotâŚâ He shook his helm, mouth thinning. âI cannot afford to leave those under my command at risk because of personal distractions.â
You blinked, brows rising. âElita wasnât a distraction - she was part of you, Optimus,â you told him, as though he needed to be reminded. âShe was ripped away from you and they expected you to go on like nothing happened?â
He dropped his helm, tilting it away from you. His optics closed, tightly. âOthers who had been bonded far longer than I lost their sparkmates,â he said softly.
âThat doesnât matter,â you persisted, sitting up on your knees and propping yourself on his leg. âYou lost the love of your life, and you had to bottle it up, just...just because you were âobligatedâ to a war you didnât start. Thatâs bullshit.â
The armor along his shoulders drooped, tightening against his frame as he cracked his optics open enough to peek down at you. Your heart clenched when you realized he looked confused.
You fumbled for words, opening and closing your mouth fruitlessly. The silence was tense, heavy, and you felt as though you could cut it with a knife.
Finally, you gave him as gentle a look as you could possibly make. And, softly, you said, âYou deserve to be taken care of, too, Optimus.â
He looked stricken, wordless as his gaze shifted back towards the desert beyond the mesa. The corners of his optics tensed, his mouth twitching downward. He looked so, so sad, and...it hurt every part of you.
A brief silence. Then Optimus rumbled your name. â...may I ask you a question?â
âYeah,â you answered softly, closing your eyes and dropping your head.
âHow do you do it?â
You frowned. â...Do what?â
âPresent yourself with such sincerity. Openness.â The flats of his digits pressed into your front faintly. âYou make it seem easy.â
You blushed, turned your head downward. You smoothed your hand over his palm. âI know that if I expect vulnerability from people, I should show myself vulnerable. The same applies to friendliness. Making meaningful connections with people means making compromises, even at the expense of comfort and privacy sometimes.â
Optimus hummed quietly, sounding pensive. You heard his vents hitch briefly, before air gushed from his sides. Your name was low on his lips. â...Would you...assist me in being more vulnerable?â
Your eyes shot open and you lifted your head to stare at him. He met your gaze, optics dim and expression tentative. Then a slow, soft smile wormed its way onto your face.
âYou already are,â you told him gently.
He blinked slowly, optical ridges rising faintly, before his mouth lifted just so. â...In that case, I...I owe you thanks.â
âI didnât have anything to do with it,â you responded, shaking your head.
âYou had everything to do with it.â His thumb pressed into your back, a pleasant pressure that cemented his looming presence. âYou have shown yourself vulnerable, and...in doing so, reminded me how to be.â
You opened your mouth. You closed it. Opened it again, voice weak. âYou canât use my words against me, Optimus - thatâs not fair.â
He chuckled. Honest-to-God chuckled. You felt your heart swell.
âPerhaps,â he responded finally. âOr perhaps I appreciate your thoughts more than you realize.â
You tried offering him a noncommittal shrug, face burning. âYeah, well, give me credit in your book of memoirs when all this blows over.â
Another chuckle, a little louder and a little longer. âI will certainly remember to do so.â
He paused when you yawned softly, trying to conceal the gaping maw of your mouth by clamping a hand over it. When you glanced up at him, mildly embarrassed, his expression was warm with what youâd dare to say as fondness.
â...You remind me of her, at times,â he told you softly.
You heart jumpstarted. âI...I doâŚ?â
He dipped his helm minutely. âYou share similar mannerisms, and you seem to have her innate ability to analyze information and offer the best advice. You have her fire, on occasion, as well,â he chuckled. âBut at your core, you have a gentle soul, as she did. It comforts me to see that trait remain in people despite everything Iâve endured. Despite everything that has happened to you.â He paused, regarding your dumbfounded expression, then seemed to become a mite sheepish. âBut that isnât to say you arenât unique to yourself. You are quite unlike any human I have had the privilege to interact with on a personal level.â
â...âQuite unlikeâ good or âquite unlikeâ bad?â you asked, quirking a brow and trying to smile wryly.
He lifted an optical ridge as well, the corner of his mouth turning upward minutely. âI believe you neednât my say in it - you are aware of what lies within you better than I.â
You tried rubbing the flush out of your cheeks. âThanks, Optimus.â
He hummed quietly, stroking a slow circle into the flat of your back. Then he turned his servo over in the sand when you yawned again. âI believe it is time for you to rest,â he told you gently.
âTry to, anyway,â you mumbled, but you crawled into his palm anyway. He curled his fingers around you and you grasped his thumb for support as he cradled you close to his chassis and slowly, carefully righted himself to his feet. Your stomach flip flopped for an entirely different reason then, peering between his flat digits towards the ground that was suddenly very, very far down. Despite this, however, and despite the instinctual fear thrumming beneath your flesh, you knew you were safe. Optimus had never and would never drop you.
But instead of heading for the elevator like youâd expected, he instead stepped closer to the edge of the mesa. You gulped when he lifted his servo and tilted it so you slid slowly against the massive column of his neck. You grappled onto a plate that descended towards his windshields, blinking up at him with your heart rising in your throat. Optimus crouched, turned, and lowered a pede towards one of the small shelves of rock beneath him.
âOptimus?â you pressed, voice hitching into a higher octave as the desert stretched out below you both. âWhat - what are you doing?â
Optimus hummed, frustratingly soothing. âThe elevator is too loud for use at night.â
âSo you climb a cliff?â you squeaked, his frame dropping with a slow but inevitable descent and leaving your heart in the roof of your mouth.
âIt is something Iâve always enjoyed,â he shared calmly. There was a feline-like quality to his movements, well practiced and assured. Still, it was obvious he was being more cautious - probably on account of you. âI must admit that I climbed many a building I shouldnât have in my youth.â
âYou? Breaking the law?â you said, relaxed just enough to focus on him instead of the ground below you. âScandalous. What would the others think?â
âI fractured my frame once,â he remarked absently, shaking his helm. âI went to Ratchet for help.â He paused, looked down past you, and his optical ridges furrowed as he considered the available footholds. He steered to the left instead, then took another step downward. âI did not make that mistake again.â
You laughed. âWhat, falling or going to Ratchet?â
The corners of his mouth lifted, but he did not specify. You laughed again, trying to smother it with your hand. His chassis thrummed and, slowly, he continued to descend the mesaâs side. You peered over his shoulders towards the stars to distract yourself, curling into him as best you could. You both lapsed into a comfortable silence, his optical ridges drawing together in concentration as his optics shuttered and contracting as he focused on his every movement.
It didnât seem long before he paused, reached up to drape a servo over you protectively, and pushed himself off and away from the mesa. You squeaked as he fell, your stomach jumping into your throat - he landed with a jarring crash, though he allowed his knees to buckle to absorb the impact. You felt woozy, but climbed up onto his shoulder proper as he walked in through the hidden entrance and crept down the corridor with astounding near-silence. You smothered a yawn as he emerged into the hanger, staying close to the edge of the room and lifting a servo for you to climb onto. He lowered you to the ground, and you stumbled on weakened legs before righting yourself. You smiled up at him, hoping you had helped him in some way, to some degree.
The warm glow in his optics and the faint smile on his faceplate told you that youâd succeeded.
You patted his pede quietly. âGoodnight, Optimus. Sleep well.â
âAnd you as well.â
He stood there as you lingered, hesitating, as you padded across the hanger and returning to your cot. Smokescreen had flipped over at some point, somehow not managing to crush his doorwings in the process, Jackâs mouth was wide open as he drooled, Raf was curled into an unidentifiable ball underneath his blankets, and Miko had lost hers completely, sprawled out like a corpse at a crime scene.
You chuckled to yourself, settling back down and slipping under the blankets with a soft sigh. They were pleasantly cool against your skin, and the cot felt softer than it had before. Maybe it was because you were more tired.
As you pulled the covers over your chest and adjusted your pillow, you cast a look towards the three story metal sentinel in the corner, his optics beacons of light like those fabled wisps of old, silent and waiting. On a whim, you gave him a little wave, offering a shaky smile. You saw the slightest hint of denta before he lifted his servo and returned the gesture before stealing his way into the hall and out of sight like a shadow.
You were glad, because if heâd stayed much longer he wouldâve seen how you slowly buried your face into your pillow and wept quietly for him, for everything that had happened to him, for what heâd had to endure for so long without being able to reach out. For the spark-deep weariness that seemed incurable. For the war.
For Elita.
And because part of him would always belong to her.

Was musing on my twelve Kwami & Six-Teen Heroes lore and ideas again and musing on the secondary/alt power names and works.
What I mean is, that Mullo the mouse is both multiplication & Duplication, or how Wayss the turtle can create shields of all types, but also reinforce their user or others for endurance ETC.
Some like dragon are already set, and others like horse just need minor tweaks, like multiple single teleportation's or one big portal plus mildly enhanced speed, Fox can create illusions but also affect the mind with hallucinations.
I have had some toruble with the other three though and was curious as yo your thoughts, no pressure though but here:
Bee is still order & Subjegation.
Venom can sting 1 foe for five minutes or five foes for 1 minute and lock them down. Or otherwise steadily force their body to stop fighting the more she stings them, stacking like a debuff.
The other idea was for there to be a "Compel" thing which meant Chloe could order objects she had stung to obey, like stinging a truck and ordering it to drive at her foe.
Not sure it works though & so I was thinking of maybe she can use Order for a sort of discount Miracle Cure, like restoring a damaged building?
Second Chance is as usually adjusted it, has less repeats and everyone starts getting deja-vu. The other ideas were a sort of instinctive premonition of upcoming events, or being able to slow one's perception of time, or perhaps a song? But not feel quite right & Second Chance is already quite OP.
There is a third, but I am pretty pleased with it but thought you might find it interesting:
Tiger, readjusted here to Ignition & Havoc, has given me some trouble, but I think I like what I have but would be interested in your take:
Clash & Erupt is the battle cry. Summoning with it violet claws that look like fire akin to this but smaller:
The two distinct attacks both involve striking the enemy.
Claws ignite! Unleashes a powerful, fiery blast as one strikes, causing a large blast of fire in the shape of claws.
Cry Havoc! Relies on burying the claws in the foe, & them being absorbed sending the foe's body haywire.
Unlike most other powers these one's are extremely hard to use in minor ways, leaving Juleka/Tiger as a major heavy hitter, but also one that needs to be used well.
Though she can also turn the claws on and use them as a default weapon but I imagine the longer one does so the more unstable they become and or the user becomes.
fascinating.
I will say that the 'Order' power reminds me of Star and Stripe's power, New Order.

how do you know your human friends?
Illusion: Oh oh! I know! Andy and Raf are cousins and they got chosen for a special ro-bo-tics program a couple years ago!
Andy: yeah, and we just decided to stay here.
Illusion: i thought the program was longer.
Raf: Oh, it is. Its an after school program. Andy ages out next year though.
Andy: its not faaaair!! Miko, Jack and you get to stay!
Raf: I'm the only one in the program right now. Miko and Jack are because of their parents.
Andy: Damn nepobabies...
Illusion: What does a dam have to do with them?
Andy: uhhh. Forget that. bye!
Illusion: Huh?
Raf: ignore them. Do you know how Spike, Carly and Chip came to be here?
Illusion: Uhm... i wasnt here yet. I got here a few months before you guys. Let's go find Bee! He's the oldest.
Raf: I thought that was Sideswipe and Sunstreaker.
Illusion: The twins are younger. Aren't they?
Raf: I thought Arcee said they were just slightly older than Bee.
Illusion: Hm... Well, we're still going to Bee, i like him better.
-A FEW MINUTES LATER-
Raf- Bee!
Illusion- Hey Bee!!
Bumblebee- Yeah? What's up guys?
Illusion- Why are Spike, Carly and Chip here?
Bumblebee- Uhm... huh? Because they work here?
Raf- Illusion means how did they start working here, or something.
Bumblebee- Oh! Spike started coming here when he was a kid, his mom and dad are engineers here. It was supposed to just be a one time thing, cause his parents didn't trust him to be alone at home, so he came here after school for a week. He started to come here even after his brother graduated high school and he was trusted to stay home alone. He liked it here, especially because at the time Chip had started coming here for the same program you and your cousin are here for.
Raf- The program is that old?
Chip- I only heard the last part, i take offense to that, I am not that old! You are 14!! this wasnt even 10 years ago! I was 15 when i was accepted into the program! Im 20!!
Raf- You are old though.
Chip- I have never hit a child, but I am so close to right now.
Carly- Why is Chip about to hit Raf?
Bumblebee- He called Chip old.
Carly- If he's old what does that make me?? Im 2 years older than him!
Raf- Also old.
Carly- I think Chip had a good idea.
Spike- Ok, both of you stop. Hes a teenager, and the youngest human here, he's going to be arrogant.
Bumblebee- Oh yeah, and Carly came here when she was... 18 i think?
Carly- Huh? Why are you wondering about when i came here?
Illussion- For the ask blog!
Carly- Oh! Yeah, I started coming here when i moved here for university! I would have loved to come here before, but I guess the program is only available to people that live in the nearby city, since its only a couple miles from here. Plus the program is limited to like, 5 people from the university. The past couple years, no one has qualified for the program besides me, Chip and Spike. For college kids, its like an unpaid internship the first year, and you can work up to getting a paid internship, and you have a job once you graduate! I recently graduated, so i started working full time here.
Spike- I just have one more year of the internship. Carly and I specialized in different types of engineering so we won't be working together, but we will work in the same area.
Raf- But, Chip isnt an engineer, why is he here?
Chip- You know, you're still in slapping range. *sighs* I'm a computer science major. I help integrate the Cybertronian technology with ours.
Illusion- So you work with Jazz and Blaster?
Chip- Yeah, or anyone that has monitor duty in the bridge. Jazz is like, spec ops, so he isn't there all the time, Blaster is the one mostly in charge of them.
Illusion- Oh!
Chip- We do important work.
Illusion- I have a question.
Chip- Yeah?
Illusion- Why are Jack and Miko here? They aren't in any of the programs you guys mentioned. They always hangout with us when Andy and Raf are shadowing the adults.
Spike- Oh, those two are here because of their parents.
Illusion- But why?
Spike- Jack's mom is a nurse, she was hired back when... Jack was like 13? His mom worries, so she asks him to come here after school. She used to pick him up, but several autobots volunteered to do it for her, so she didnt have to worry. And Miko, her parents were transferred here from japan. Miko was like... 12. They saw that there were a couple kids here already, so they just started bringing her here. She gets picked up after school along with Jack, Andy and Raf.
Illusion- Oh so they don't do anything.
Spike- I mean, they sometimes shadow their parents, but not in an official manner.
Illusion- Freeloaders?
Bumblebee- Ok, who taught you that word?? You always struggle with words that are that long, how did you say it right the first time??
Illusion- Andy calls Miko and Jack that all the time.
Spike- Ok, I think I should talk to Andy about appropriate ways to treat her classmates.
Illusion- but you just said they arent in the program.
Spike- Not here, but they are in the same school. Hey Carly, aren't you the one in charge of them?
Carly- Yeah, but when its their free time, I'm off teacher duty and do my normal tasks.
Raf- Do you even know how to be a teacher?
Carly- Chip?
Chip- Yeah?
Carly- Hold my earrings.
Raf- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-
*end transmission*

okay but what if the headband was a metaphor or whatever for a halo
let me explain
cause at the same time as the scenes of crowley in heaven (with the headband) aziraphale blew up his halo
we also see only one other angel with a headband on
in this post by @fuckyeahgoodomens they say muriel could have made crowley outfit
this makes sense considering it is the exact same headband but i have another completely fucking bonkers idea
what if, and hear me out, muriel doesn't have a halo? we don't have much information on how long they take to grow like idk grow back. (only that the last time aziraphale blew his up was during the great war) so maybe the headband is a placeholder.
i've seen another post that i can't find or remember who the op was but in it they mentioned that the metatron was planning to demote gabriel to 38th class and that was one below muriel and maybe muriel had been demoted
this scene could have been rather soon after whatever they did to get demoted
after a quick google, this would fit pretty accurately with what corporate dick heads would want someone to strive to after being demoted all the way down and having their memories wiped.
but why does this matter!
crowley is a demon and, to my knowledge, demons don't have halos???
maybe he was trying to blend in with the bees, sure you can look like a bee but you have to feel like a bee, give those sweet bee vibes in order to blend in well enough
what if, and hear me out with this one
what if crowley knew that the headband would make him passable enough without the other angles having to feel his halo present?
now we don't know if this is even something that angles can feel or whatever but they sure as hell can feel the presence of other heavenly/occult entities.
now going back, they could have made these scenes play at slightly different times but at the same time aziraphale was blowing up his halo we see crowley in heaven watching the video of gabriel leaving heaven. there are multiple ways to read this which can all be correct!
â˘gabriel leaving was him leaving being an angel behind and aziraphale blowing up his halo was him tearing a part of his angel-ness out
â˘aziraphale declaring war on hell as a "desperate measure" and crowley going to heaven in his own body (for what we can only assume is the first time since the fall ofc excluding s1ep6 when they switched bodies) was both of them doing everything they could to be with the other, regardless of consequence
â˘the scenes playing at the same time and saraquel noticing crowley in muriel's seldom visited office while the book shop was bombarded by demons mean muriel may have had a closer eye on them then was let on
â˘crowley wearing a headband exactly like muriel's when she was in what seems to be the lowest class could mean headbands in heaven (which metal ones like that were not invented until the late 1980's at the very least and weren't popular until the 1990's but there's not much info on that) gold comb headbands could symbolize the lack of a halo
muriel having worn that headband before then later seeing the same one in sequence to aziraphale blowing up his supports my last point so i won't give it its own but also something to add
all that to say, this show doesn't really do coincidence like reusing a wardrobe piece like that. the chances of this not leaning towards something are a bit minimal and just the fact alone that muriel is 37th class is enough to say that they definitely did something to be put there if the archangel himself was going to be demoted one below them.
please tell me your thoughts on this i feel like a crazy person lol

I was thinking about hatchlings in the Bayverse, and I just really adore the concept of a Prime and a Lord High Protector being the only ones able to reproduce. Others are born through the Allspark.
I also like to think there's a special location for the LHP to deposit their clutch, and the different clutches are all at different stages of incubation. I'm torn between many small clutches or a few large clutches. Maybe it changes due to environmental concerns?
As for why only a Prime and a LHP are fertile, who knows? There are after all animals in which only the leading couple reproduce. Or maybe there's some sort of special coding or spark frequency that can only occur between a Prime and a LHP. I like the idea it doesn't have to be the Prime bonded to the LHP to sire a clutch. It just needs to be a Prime.
So for example, all fertile pairings:
OP+Megatron, SP+Megatron, The Fallen+Megatron.
Sorry for the word vomit!
Okay that's pretty cool, because yeah! We see that in nature again and again, but I'm gonna borrow an idea off of eusocial insects (specifically bees) and suggest that in this scenario it's a three sex system like bees!
Also the "many small clutches vs a few big ones" question could definitely vary with environmental concerns such as resourcesâlike logically speaking you'd only be able to accomplish a smaller clutch with less resources, the Fallen really should've thought that out better like now that I think of it blowing up the sun is one of those plans that don't make a lot of sense as that would just. Wreck the entire solar system both light, heat, and gravity wise, aaaand you you're getting word vomit. There's also the factor of it being in response to the population, many small clutches over a period of time would be a slow and steady introduction to the population, but if say a pretty big die off happened (like a damn war), it'd make sense that if there's a biological thing to compensate for that it WILL.
And the special location thing would have interesting societal consequences as I wonder if mecha would be able to remember like. Uh what should I call ittttt... Fuck it it's the Nest now. A few might be able to remember it, and I am unsure how long the would stay in it after hatching (after all, I think in ROTF and DSOTM the process is pretty interrupted) but the longer the sparklings stay, the more likely they are to remember it as an adult.
Though we have to consider how while in bayverse they're arguably one of the more biological examples of cybertronians we see perhaps, they are somewhat confirmed to have been built. But! The method we see the "Creators" using in AoE seems to me like a "cyberform the planet, plant a species, move on, rinse and repeat" which supports a hypothesis that they definitely would leave a method of reproduction or two behind. Yes, I'm on the tfwiki for their page and it seems like they were technoorganic (and might be inspired by the g1 Quintessons. Quintessa claims she was the creator, but from what I can see this might've been a lie and she might have simply been one of the Quintessons who came back and wanted to play god)
... which now that I realize it, maybe the Creators had not intended to leave the Allspark behind? Because the more I think about it, the more it reminds me of one of the tools you'd get in one of those evolution simulator gamesâ use the Allspark device to create a few starting individuals, take it with you, leave them to use other means of reproduction to spread, and leave to go find another planet. Except, with the cybertronians, they dropped one of the cubes and never found it.
Actually since I'm on the tfwiki itself I'm gonna see if it has an alternative reasoning for the eggs, because so far Occam's razor is telling me sexual reproduction is the most logical answer. nOPE! NO EXPLANATION. Meaning we get free reign. Might I also suggest, as for why we see them in ROTF so quickly, that these eggs can be put into stasis, just like all the other mecha?

Ok @goblin-witch-bird I made a separate post to be polite to OP. I'm going to focus on what traits or behaviours about the animal I'm talking about, and what those suggest, rather than going into too much detail:
Honeypot ants - inflation, transformation into an object. Inflation is a whole fetish that seems complicated and opaque but actually it really is primally simple when it comes to the honeypot ants: I'm intolerant of fructose + my mom didn't let me have a lot of candy as a kid (not even on halloween; I was allowed to trick-or-treat but she took it all and rationed it out to me a little at a time after I got it home) + being fat or eating a lot was taboo. Watching a documentary that mentioned there's bugs that purposely feed some of their colony lots and lots of candy and turn them into food storage did... a lot of things to my imagination. Being an object--a useful object--takes away all the stress of being a person and being expected to do people things like socialise or have a job.
Honeybees - ok this one is actually because of a specific cartoon, the Queen Bee episode of Super Secret Secret Squirrel, which involved hypnosis and being drowned in honey as well as the usual Captured By The Villain bondage and damsel-in-distress stuff.
Termites - inflation, oviposition. Queen termites just being... well, look them up. They aren't like queen bees or ants, they can't move at all and are helpless to the colony's whim. I also badly misunderstood the common definition of 'oviposition' when I first encountered it--I thought it assumed you were already an egg-laying species to start with, not being used as the nest.... XD
Orb-Weaver Spiders - The Spider and the Fly is extremely erotic if you look at it right. Also Tony DiTerlizzi's art is very sexy like. The lines and the shading are very sexy. I don't know how to describe that to someone without synaesthesia other than 'the way he draws planes and shades them is very sexy'. James and the Giant Peach was also a formative book and film for me (As it happened, the Henry Selick film and being able to read the book happened at the same time for me).
Ladder-Weaver Spiders - weave a web that is specifically designed to foil a butterfly or moth's usual method of escaping a web by shedding a few scales--the ladder web is structured so that they try and do that and end up falling down the web, losing more and more scales until they have lost so many they can't fly anymore. The idea of not being worried about being stuck in a web until you find you foolproof method of escape has been thought of by the spider... listen, I like clever villains and I like villains that lay traps.
Bolas spiders - perfectly recreate the perfume of a lady moth, and moths are creatures where the males are entirely driven by pheremones past the point of usual caution. See above--I like clever villains who lay traps. This also has elements of hypnokink but the hypnosis using entirely and wholly another sense than sight is something I don't see often.
Farmer Ants - Livestock, ejaculate-milking. They farm aphids and stroke them to make the sweet stuff come out. That can turn into erotica SO easily come on now.
Wolf Spiders - They're very sexy. Idk. There's something about the way they look and the way they are the only ones that look AT you. Also a lot of the 'giant spiders' in media are based on wolf spiders in terms of how they look, even if the giant spider acts like a web-weaving spider.
Leeches - This isn't really about the leeches themselves so much as its about the fact that leeches are a medical tool and I have a medical fetish but only for 19th and 18th century medical stuff. I know, I know that's WEIRDLY specific. I'm aware. I also had dizzy spells as a child and fainted a lot, and so it was easy to fetishise something I was experiencing all the time anyway. I don't have that vampire kink for nothing!
Tarantula Hawk Wasps - Something something the inherent eroticism of a whole species evolving to prey on you in such a specific way, something about the devotion of the mother to leave her child so much food and idk have you seen the way people talk about knights and dogs and such in terms of the devotion to protecting another even laying down life? Yeah that's me with the relationship between the wasp and the tarantula. Also wasps are incredibly sexy looking especially Tarantula Hawk Wasps.
Bonus: Many of these animals use venom, and I'm quite into venom. I'm also fascinated by eusocial animals that have biological castes, simply because that's so much the opposite of my own species, which doesn't even have sexual dimorphism to any real degree. Antz, Bugs Life, James and the Giant Peach, and like... idk a surprising amount of media I grew up with was going in for bugs when I was young and impressionable. I also watched a lot of nature documentaries back before they were censored and sugarcoated all to hell.
I love villains, and honestly spiders, wasps, bees, ants and termites are real-life animals that people villify over and over, who have natural behaviours we associate with villains (idk which came first I think it's a bit of a loop).
