venus if she was awesome
speedpaint and more thoughts under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
venus has always been one of my favorite characters, though i feel her design is pretty underwhelming with a lot of wasted potential. this is kind of a redesign, kind of my own personal headcannon, and kind of how i imagined venus in my head as a kid.
this is supposed to be my version of g1 venus, more similar in facial features and keeping the straight hair. i absolutely love her new hair and face in g3 but im hesitant to call the new outfit an improvement. both g1s outfit and g3s outfit are bad in their own ways. i dont want it to seem like im shitting on the new design. again i think the face sculpts, hair, and body types of g3 are so awesome. its great to see more diversity being included in the designs. i just decided to go with g1 venuses look because thats the venus i grew up with
i definitely took some inspiration from g3s outfit for this design. i like the idea of it but the execution is just not great, not to say her original outfit is any better. i feel like out of all of tge original monsters she was the one with the most waisted potential. i love her personality and the abilities she has but the way she was styled has always bothered me.
in the movies shes described as “eco-punk” which is SUCH a cool style to go with a plant monster character. i just feel like the “punk” in “eco-punk” was never really represented in her outfits. i personally love punk music and clothing; ive been an active member in my local diy scene for many years and i love seeing all the outfits people put together.
i thought i would give her an outfit that shows off a couple of my personal favorite staples of punk style. big chunky leather boots with lots of straps and buckles. kept the shoe mouths from the original because they cool as hell. lots of leather, studs, spikes. i gave her denim cutoff shorts inspired by her gen 3 outfit, same with the torn black top. punk style has a big focus on comfort, practicality, and making things yourself. i imagine she cut a pair of old pants into shorts, roughly cut her “undead kennedys”band shirt tank into a crop top, and probably repurposed the remaining fabric. i also totally didnt draw this whole thing as an excuse to use that pun. i included asymmetrical leg accessories, with one fishnet stocking and one torn up sock. i also feel like she repurposed these, continuing to wear her old torn up socks instead of just throwing them out. i gave her a big chunky studded belt matching one of her cuffs with a recycling symbol belt buckle. i feel like it communicates an important aspect of her personality just at a glance, plus i just love big belt buckles. lastly i added piercings because 1. theyre cool and 2. i for some reason remembered her having an eyebrow piercing but i guess she never had one.
i mostly kept her body and hair the same. changed her ears and hair color slightly but thats just personal preference. i decided to make the vines on her body look more like tattoos instead of being 3d. i imagine she can make them grow into real vines, but when shes not using her powers theyre just flat against her skin. gave her a facial expression that made her look a little more unhinged. she might only do things for the good of the earth but she can still mind control people at will.
i wish i leaned a little bit more into the plant theming but im overall still super happy with how this came out. maybe ill made more monster high redesigns in the future

This is literally the only website where fans of G3 Monster High can exist in peace without being fucking crucified by G1 purist types.
I grew up in Pony Fandom, I'm used to seeing how adults react to reboots, but I have never seen a fandom (of a children's toy line, lest we forget) act so horribly vindictive towards a reboot, and it's fans. A very high quality, thoughtful reboot at that.
You literally can't just enjoy G3 without someone screaming in your ear about how bitter they are that theyre not a kid anymore. That Monster High isn't catering to the youth culture of of 14 years ago.
I grew up in the 2010s and so many franchises from that time have been reworked. Some good and some bad, but I've never really seen quite the level of dedicated, continuous, distain for a reboot, that I see in the MH fandom.
Its just weird cause they're the same people who tout the "Be Yourself, Be Unique, Be a Monster" tag line of G1. Unless you like a different doll than them...I guess? It's so unserious. I think they remember G1 as being better, or more countercultural/progressive than it actually was. Those dolls and movies are not quite the high art, people pretend that they are.
They also constantly act like G3 killed G1. Wiped it off the face of the earth. All the old stuff is still there, PLUS Mattel is constantly releasing G1 collector dolls. Like, a lot of them.
The pride merch for this year had the G1 ghouls on it, eventhough G3 is the only version with actual cannon representation. (Yes Ik the G1 creator confirmed queer theories and intentions on social media, but it never explicitly made its way into the TV/movies. Its just coding, which is good, but still NOT explicit representation. Plus Garrett likes the new dolls, and posts them on socials. G3 has his blessing.) Why didn't we get some G3 Frankie merch to rep their NB identity? Why didn't we get G3 Clankie on a shirt or something? Mattel is still putting G1 first.
There's plenty of normal G1 fans, obviously, but the shitty ones are LOUD. Mattel can't even post an insta or tiktok video of the G3 cast, without the comments being full of people trashing G3 and attacking any commenter who likes it. Sometimes even shitting on the live action actors and VAs on their personal socials. It's gotten a little less bad since the reboot has been out over a year, but it's still a huge problem.
I'm genuinely confused as to why MH fans are acting worse about a reboot than literal bronies did about MLP G5. I love bronies, I'm a life long pony fan, but ik the fandom can have STRONG opinions on horse show.
When I started using Tumblr, I was surprised to only see love for G3. I'm sure there's hate somewhere, but not that I've seen.
Anyone else have any idea about why this might be? Are other doll-centric fandoms like this? I only really like MH dolls, so idk.

Remember when I said I was gonna make a post about how shitty SOME of the g1 fans have been? Yeah, this is that post.
For context, I was a Monster High fan since 2010, before the dolls dropped when it was just a website. I used to tune in every other week for a new webisode on my iPod touch, my first doll was Gloom Beach Drac..I've been in the Fandom since it's inception, and I've seen some shit.
That being said, it is utterly appalling how some of yall out here have been with G3, especially in the beginning. I will never forget the amount or people who were blatantly transphobic about g3 Frankie, fatphobic about Draculaura, racist towards Lagoona, and now some of y'all are being blatantly racist and fatphobic about Venus and Catty?? We could not have been out here consuming the same media about being yourself, accepting everyone, and just being a generally decent and kind person, right? The amount of times little 10 year old me saw and commented on how they wish Mattel would have body diversity among the cast, or have more LGBT+ characters, let alone ones in the main cast, was way more than you think, and it's sad to see that some of y'all grew up to become some of the same mean girls who made fun of people like us in middle school for even liking the original g1 to begin with.
You don't have to like g3, however, some of yall need to really think before you post, because for the rest of us, it's really shitty when you're out here calling Drac and Catty obese (some of us are actually built like that!), being transphobic about Frankie, or being straight up racist when it comes to things like Lagoona's ethnicity, or Venus having black facial features. Contrary to popular belief, nobody is saying you're every "-phobic" or "-ism" in the book if you don't like g3, but it's real telling when you comment on how you don't like a doll who's only change is having more black facial features, let alone saying she "looks like a goblin", and are just oh so upset that the new Draculaura has thicker thighs to where you buy a whole other $25 doll, just to put her head on the skinner g1 Drac body.
It's crazy how some of y'all will bitch about "forced diversity", when Mattel is finally implementing the diversity we wanted to see as kids. Do better.

pinkie pie redesign!!
pinkie is finally done! here goes the yapping again…
so obviously she is a pegasus. i thought this fit her personality so well! i however believe that *my* pinkie (since she grew up on a rock farm with earth ponies) never really flew, or never learned to fly very efficiently so she still hops around!! i could never get rid of that because it’s such a big part of her personality and it just suits her so well. that’s one of the reasons i made those balloons on her, so when she bounces she falls slower (she forgets she is a pegasus SO much).
oh boy her manestyle i put sm thought into. i envisioned an 80’s diner type thing (iykyk) and i envision she has a cute little headband but its not visible from this angle. i also made her hair a little more visibly messy/frizzy, because she is always doing this and that, and it suits her hair texture.
her color scheme (darker pink body, lighter pink hair) is from her dear old g3 counterpart. i added an extra pink just for interest since after all, she is a main character, so she needs to be extra interesting. i was tempted to add the heart, but i wanted that to be unique to fluttershy.
her hooves! i wanted to do blue and yellow.. butttt i added a twist. two hooves look very stoney and matte, while the other two resembled gold, as an homage to her family. that’s also why i added the desaturated pink spots on her face. i wanted her to be vibrant to stand out from her family, but also to have a resemblance and aspects that show she is related to them.
i didnt want to change her cutie mark too much because i love it. it’s simple, but very pinkie. i just wanted to add some confetti because i thought it was very cute and suited her personality.
but yeah i think thats it :) let me know what you think!!

listen if you go into g3 thinking it will be just like more episodes of g1 youre gonna be very disappointed. like yeah if I had to choose between them Id choose g1 as it cant be beat, but g3 has its own unique charm and is really good if you accept that the g3 cast isnt gonna be a carbon copy of the g1 cast. they arent meant to be! theyre new takes on their character, by definition, a new generation. yes I still have criticisms for it but also it did a lot of stuff better!
first off, a trans character IN a queer relationship. Ive always related to frankie but gen 3 especially does them so well and no matter what you say them and cleo's relationship is adorable. also I see a lot of you treat them like just a girl who uses they/them pronouns (or ignore that theyre non-binary at all) just because they dress femininely, and I am judging you. their relationship is trixic, not sapphic, and frankie is unlabeled and cleo is bi so theyre not lesbians either. frankie is not your theythem girl or theyfab or whatever. grow up. deuce is also theorized to be trans or intersex and is also canonically aromantic and I fucking love that as well. "b-but my nostalgia abt cleo and deuce" Im still nostalgic about them too and it was nice seeing the "mean girl" and her boyfriend have a healthy relationship but again this is a different take on their character, and I can happily say I could see their g1 versions identify this way as well if mattel wasnt such a coward back then.
next, lagoona. Ill be honest I was one of the biggest haters of g3 lagoona at first, pink skin, vsco girl ass fashion, "this aint my lagoona, she's way less edgier than the others AND g1" Id say, but she really grew on me, and as someone who frequently rewatches g1 as well, I notice she is a LOT more well developed than her g1 counterpart. g3 is fierce and is afraid of no longer being seen as such due to also having "cutesy" interests, and loves graphic novels and sometimes sees them as more true than real life. she also has anxiety and copes with them in an unappealing fashion (chewing). she makes up for her lack of edgy looks with her edgy personality. meanwhile g1 is just.... aussie and loves her boyfriend. g3 is still very sporty and cares for her friends (and crush) a lot, but now has personality past that, she can even find fault in her crush while still loving him, while g1 lagoona just saw gill as the perfect incarnate. g3 just overall, has more fleshed out monsters than g1.
more about deuce, I see a lot of people headcanon him as trans and I love that, but I personally believe he may be intersex. "but both of his parents and his sisters are female, there is no y chromosome in their heritage so how could he develop a y chromosome or testosterone" you may ask, but worry not for I have a biology special interest and am more than willing to explain! deuce's parents are a harpy (bird monster) and a gorgon(snake monster), and both birds and snakes are known to have NOT X and Y chromosomes to determine sex, but Z and W, and it works the other way around! meaning the offspring with zw chromosomes will be female while the offspring with zz chromosomes will be male! and due to deuce being out of the sex norms of both harpies and gorgons (having no males), he is considered intersex! again, I have nothing about his trans headcanons, but him being intersex makes more sense to me. and I LOVE it if thats the intention.
either way, even if I have my criticisms, I love g3, yes its not comparable to g1 but theyre different series!

Can we please stop bashing on g3??? Please??
It’s totally fine to dislike it if you just don’t like it. That’s fair !! But relentlessly hating on it when someone posts a photo of a g3 doll, or commenting hateful stuff on a screenshot of Frankie, it’s just…petty?
I grew up with MH — it was my entire childhood. But I can look at g3 with so much love and endearment, because the characters have an even more powerful message for young audiences, and us adults alike. As a disabled, chronically ill person who always attatched myself to MH’s characters/morals, I feel that g3 provides a safer, more relatable space even.
One thing I constantly see is hate on body types. Again, I adore g1, it is very special to me, but g3 is so much more diverse and accepting, which is GOOD. We want more representation and individuality!! It is absolutely ridiculous that people find incredibly thin bodies to be the only acceptable bodies. I love that everyone has a different frame! Different heights!! I love these beautiful dolls!!
The amount of comments I’ve seen about Catty, calling her very ugly names and hate spewing about how she’s ‘ruined’ is just unacceptable. MH has, and always will be a series about everyone being loved, supported, respected, and advocated for, for their differences that make them beautiful! (Freaky fabulous 🩷🖤) The series was never about preaching the trash that these delusional people keep thinking it is??
Anyway!! G3 is fucking awesome!! As a MH fan since g1’s first release, g3 is such an empowering, amazing, very positive and important gen for MH and the future of the series!! It has made me feel so seen, and heard <33
g3 haters under every comment section…shut. up. for once. please.

Monster High G3 Opinions (Part 1)
Tumblr media
I loved Monster High since the first time I saw them in stores. I was neck deep in my creepypasta phase and seeing this dolls that were the decedents of well-known monsters was something special to me because I never saw something like that ever before.
I loved their fashion and and (at the time) unique doll features (transparent limps, skeleton bodies, colorful skin, etc,..) but unfortunately I never owned a single MH doll until I was well into my twenties. Even though I was obsessed with them in my teens, I now have a much deeper love for them since I'm now able to buy them myself.
I was quite exited after hearing that G3 was coming and seeing the first images of the new dolls was something special to me.
After seeing G1 and G2 I was quite surprised how much they actually changed for G3 both look and personality wise and it took me a while to get used to some of the changes. What I can't get used to is the constant complaining of other fans who grew up with G1.
Yes, G1 had nice outfits but it also came out in the early 2010s so it's a bit more of a reflection of that time. G3 is meant to appeal to this generation of kids and young teens. We are not the main demographic of this dolls. Your childhood is not ruined! It's still there! Let the kids have their own thing!
Draculaura
Tumblr media
Draculaura. MH's favorite child. Why else would she get so many dolls?
G1 Draculaura probably appealed mostly to the girlies who had an obsession of vampires thanks to twilight and vampire diaries (I know this because I was that "girl").
Ten years ago I would have thought that the G1 doll was one of the best looking dolls out there but comparing her with the G3 version I have to admit that she is quit boring. I fell in love the G3 doll immediately. She got such a nice glow up and I love the new body type for her.
Small doll rant: The new bodies of G3 are such a nice upgrade from G1. One of the issues I had with G1 was the fact that felt so fragile in the hand. Like holding a couple of sticks. Even compared to a regular Barbie doll they were awfully thin. I liked what they did with the different heights but the different body types just makes them so much better.
G1 Draculaura had over the years a lot of great outfits mostly because she had so much dolls made of her. G3 still goes strong with a witchy touch but they still put her in almost every thing. She is the only character to be in every single skulltimate secrets series. Give that girl a break for fucks sake! Give the spotlight to somebody else!
Clawdeen
Tumblr media
Clawdeen was the very first Monster High doll I ever bought. It was the Boo-riginal Creeproduction and she was the only doll left at the store. I love her so much and she has a special place in my heart.
Unfortunately, G1 Clawdeen had the problem that had the most misses in therms of outfits and suffered the most skin color changes (they turned her gray in Freak Du Chic and blue in Great Scarrier Reef which is weird since she was the only one who had her skin changed. Clawvenus gets a pass because she got fused with Venus)
I understand why they used so much animal print and fur in her outfits but a lot of them just weren't it. Like they did her dirty so many times but the few good ones were iconic.
G3 Claweed is just adorable. I love her so much and she got so many cute outfits so far. The only thing that annoys me is the fact that they keep giving her purple hair. I like the purple streaks she has in her core doll but every time they give her full on purple hair it's too much. I clashes with her outfit too much make her look like a purple blob.
Frankie
Tumblr media
Frankie! My favorite since day one! G1 Frankie was an icon. She had so many gorgeous outfits.
I just love her so much.
G3 Frankie dethroned G1 the moment I read their bio. As someone who is non-binary having a doll who shares the same identity as myself is just huge. It's just something that I never thought I could have and I almost cried after seeing them in person. This doll has so much more meaning to me than any other doll.
I will be biased about them. I love them too much.

How I painted my G3!Cleo doll's molded wrappings (and other stuff)
Hey! So I wanted to make this neat post to break down the steps on how I did some customizing on my G3!Cleo doll.
Tumblr media
This is obviously the signature doll that came out in 2022, right when g3 was starting and when Monster High made its return. This is the polypropylene hair version, but I did wash it a bit and it feels better (still not great, but an improvement). I'm not quite done adding all the details and things to her, but I feel like I made more than enough progress to share what I did.
Firstly, as you can see, I have completely modified her dress. Although the wrapping printed sleeves were fine, I personally found it hard to put her extra fashion accessory (which is this cute wrapping/fringe jacket) because of those sleeves. I wanted to save them so I chopped off the sleeves and cut them up to my likings. Although, I had to take the dress apart to get the sleeves themselves, so I used a seam ripper to do just that, and then I stitched the dress back together.
I also wanted to try to make the sleeves look like those arm gloves that Maddy Perez wore with that one look from Euphoria btw, please stop making MH/Euphoria AUs because the casting feels out of character and MH and adult content shouldn't mix. But I ended up with one longer arm glove/sleeve on the left and a smaller piece on the right upper arm.
Speaking of wrappings, Cleo de Nile dolls have been seen with molded on wrappings on her lower right arm/hand and left lower leg since g2. I wasn't sure if I liked how it's brought back, and after getting my hands on this doll, I grew to appreciate that detail. I decided to paint these parts to bring out that detail. I painted most of her hands (up to her fingers to make it look like a glove, and most of the arm and leg (I painted to just above the toes).
Tumblr media
So what I used was acrylic paints and matte Mod Podge to seal everything (mostly). I mixed an ivory with a bit of yellow to get that aged bandage look. It took a few layers of paint on each part to get it as solid as possible. Although I didn't have to paint that much of her leg since I'm keeping her in her boots, this is also used as a reference on how I imagine Cleo's wrappings on her leg look. And yeah, it did chip a little when I put her boot back on, but it's in spots that's not noticeable. This goes for any doll that you paint, but please do be careful if you decide to do this. It's always a nightmare to see all that hard work get scraped off.
Tumblr media
Also, if you paint most of Cleo's hand like I did, PLEASE don't paint the articulation point on her wrist, right where the peg is (seen here!). The paint will chip off if you paint that area and move it around so much. The same goes for the arm and leg, but I stopped short before the joints, because I don't want that paint to wear off regardless.
Tumblr media
Also, you might've noticed that I made a cuff bracelet for Cleo, because her right arm just felt bare. A quick and easy way to make these types of bracelets is cutting a piece of a drinking straw to the desired length. I then painted it gold and painted blue "jewels" just to add color. And like with my other G3 dolls (I plan to do the same for my G1 and most of my EAH dolls), I painted her nails. Inspired by the cartoon, I painted Cleo's nails turquoise, and her accent/ring finger is painted gold. I know there are looks where one finger nail on a hand (usually the accent/ring finger) is painted or styled differently from the other nails. So I had fun with this (I also did the same thing for Catty!).
All that's left for me with Cleo is her boots, belt, necklace (need to fix a smudge), and headband, but a lot of the bulky stuff is done. I hope this post helps inspire someone who plans to make these modifications to their g3 Cleo doll(s). 💛

Really hope you saw that one post that was like "I wish people stopped sucking g3's dick because it has body variety" like ok. Let's stop praising this new generation for being more inclusive and making people feel more seen. It's different from the one I grew up with so it sucks! This fandom is so obnoxious and entitled like I'm genuinely sorry that being happy that children are growing up with an inclusive piece of media annoys y'all so much
THAT WAS THE POST! Like why are we mad that people are celebrating having inclusive content?? To call it "d*ck sucking" just shows how immature these people are.
G3 fanbase doesn't have to bring down g1, and honestly I haven't seen much people praising g3 at the expense of g1 so it doesn't even make sense the things that person said.
It has to be trolling at this point the way these people seem to be upset and annoyed at the representation of g3? The way g1 stans can't even be critical about g1(maybe they are the ones who should drop d*ck sucking) they talk about g1 like it's faultless then try and turn it around and get mad a people who just want to enjoy g3 and have fun and see more representation on screen.
Also people need to take into account the ART STYLE of the show. There is definitely body variety, being upset that they didn't make all these characters look risqué or whatever is so weird to me. They obviously are presenting these characters more like high schoolers.
G1 was around with the likes of Bratz and those fashion lines, and ofc the style back then isn't going to reflect the style and catering there is now. People need to realize how ignorant they sound. Like you're basing your analysis on the past and how things were back then???
And to say that the dolls are ugly🥴 please grow up because these dolls are actually very fashionable. Just because they don't all look gaunt and risqué in every outfit??

College Days
Summary: Your college life wasn’t anything like you expected
Written for: @the-slumberparty
Words: 3431
Squares Filled: I5- College, O2- College AU, G3- Video Games, I1, First Date
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Female Reader
Warnings: Drinking, mild language
To say you were nervous on your first day of college was an understatement. This big city campus was a far different world to the quiet country town you grew up in. Nervously, you made your way to the door rooms that were to be your home for the duration of your stay. You were about to open the door when someone beat you to it from the other side. The person who walked through was a tall, handsome blond man with kind blue eyes and a charming smile.
“Hi, you must be one of the new students. I’m Steve. I’m the RA of this dorm building. I’ll show you around.”
You introduced yourself and Steve took you through to the room you would be using. Steve left you for a few moments to let you settle in.
As you were getting unpacked, a young woman walked in and placed her stuff on the other bed.
“Hi, I’m Wanda. You must be my roommate,” she smiled, extending her hand to shake yours.
You shook her hand and introduced yourself, exchanging a few pleasantries before heading downstairs to the common room for orientation.
Steve explained everything you needed to know about dorm life, from rules and regulations to maps and any other useful information you might need to know. Once he was finished, you headed to the dining to where you could smell someone was cooking dinner. You headed into the kitchen to see if you could offer assistance to whoever was in there. Poking your head in, you spotted a curly haired male tending to some kind of sausages in a pan.
“Do you need a hand?” you asked.
The cook turned and smiled at you.
“Oh, hey. I’m pretty much set for cooking but you could help me dish them up. I’m Bruce, by the way.”
You once again introduced yourself and helped to put the sausages into the buns.
“What kind of hotdogs are these?” you questioned, noticing their odd colour.
“Tofu dogs. I’m vegan, you see. I know that most people don’t share my kind of diet but I wanted to share something with you guys, if that’s okay.”
Well, you did come to college for new experiences.
You helped Bruce bring out the tofu dogs with a few condiments and met with more of your dormmates. After a few more introductions, you all sat down to eat. As you took the first bite, you took a few minutes to assess the flavour. It was… not great. The texture was… interesting to say the least. There were a few moments of awkward silence before Sam stood up.
“Where’s the takeout menu?” he declared.
“Sam…” you began.
Okay, so it wasn’t the best tasting the you had but that didn’t mean putting Bruce down after he tried so hard.
“No, I can admit defeat. I confess, I must not have used a decent brand. Guys, order what you’d like. Dinner is on me tonight,” Bruce announced, handing out menus to a local takeout place.
And that was your first dinner in your new home.
The next morning, you got up bright and early, ready to start your new college life. Classes didn’t start until Monday but the weekend gave you a chance to find your way around the school and perhaps get to know your dormmates a little. As you made your way downstairs, you noticed a group of people in gym gear doing stretches.
“Hey, guys,” you greeted.
“Good morning, Y/N. We’re about to go for a jog. Would you like to join us?” Steve offered.
On the one hand, the thought of doing all that exercise first thing in the morning sounded like a nightmare. On the other hand, it might be a good opportunity to know the grounds a little better and get to know some of your dormmates a little better. You briefly considered your options before ultimately deciding to go with them. They waited for you to get ready before they headed off.
Steve, Bucky, Sam and Nat were much fitter than you were but went a little slower for your benefit. That was, until the boys started getting a little competitive. Then it became a contest between them on who could run circles around each other. Nat just rolled her eyes and kept her pace to match yours.
“Wow… they’re pretty fit… aren’t they?” you puffed.
“Don’t sell yourself short, Y/N. You’re doing a pretty good job at keeping up,” Nat smiled at you.
“Well… I try,” you tried to smile back and hoped it didn’t come out as a grimace.
“You should come to yoga with me. Classes start this Thursday,” she offered.
“I’ll think about it,” you replied, watching as Steve ran his third lap around with Bucky on his heels.
“Don’t say it!” Sam screamed.
“On your left,” Steve grinned.
After your jog, the group made their way back to the dorms.
“Hey,” Steve greeted.
“Hi!” you replied, taking a great big swig from your water bottle.
“You were pretty good out there,” he smiled.
“Thanks… nowhere as good as you though…”
“I’ve been doing this for quite some time… I would have liked to stay back to talk with you some more but I tend to get a little… competitive,” he admitted with a sheepish smile.
“Don’t worry about it. Nat kept me company,” you assured him.
“That’s good… Well, I would like to talk with you some time to see how you’re getting on. If you need anything, just knock on my door,” he softly smiled, heading up the stairs to take a shower.
You couldn’t help but smile to yourself. Steve was pretty cute and watching the way he climbed those stairs; you did notice he had a pretty nice butt… Was it possible he could be interested in you? Well, it was possible but the way he was nice to you could also just be a part of being the house RA. You would just have to wait and see.
The following Friday, you had completed your first week of classes. As you got home, you saw some of the others setting up some sort of drinking game.
“Guys, how many times do I have to tell you this is a no alcohol building?” Steve sighed.
“Don’t like it, don’t watch,” Clint replied, continuing his set up.
Steve grumbled and headed up the stairs.
“Y/N, come join us!” Tony offered.
“I’ll just put my things away and I’ll be right down,” you assured him.
You went up the stairs to put away your stuff and noticed Wanda sitting on her bed reading.
“Hi, Wanda. They’re about to start playing a drinking game downstairs. Would you like to join us?”
“Thanks for the offer, but I can’t drink with my meds. You have fun though,” she smiled, returning to her book.
“Okay. I’ll let you know how it goes,” you smiled, heading back downstairs.
To your surprise, you saw Steve had returned and was sitting with the rest.
“Steve? I thought you weren’t going to play…” you stated.
“I decided that I should probably be here to supervise,” he replied, although he didn’t seem all that happy to be involved.
“That’s the spirit!” Tony grinned, patting him on the back.
You took your place and the game began. It started out as a game of Never Have I Ever which somehow morphed into a game of Truth or Dare. Tony by far had the most shots, followed by Natasha and Clint. You and Steve only took a few sips on occasion which probably prompted the change in games. They made up a rule that if you failed to complete an action, you had to take a shot.
“Okay, Y/N. Truth or dare?” Tony slurred.
“Uh… dare?” you sheepishly chose. Either way, you knew you were in trouble.
Tony grinned wickedly.
“You have chosen… poorly. I dare you to…”
Your heart hammered in your ribcage as you mentally prepared yourself to take the next shot.
“Kiss Steve!”
Steve’s face turned red and you felt butterflies in your stomach.
“Really, Tony?” Steve huffed.
“Yeah… You need a little action to remove that stick up your-”
“Tony!”
Tony raised his hands in defence and suddenly, all eyes were on you.
“Well? What’s it gonna be?” Tony asked.
“You don’t have to do anything… I won’t force you,” Steve muttered.
Was it the alcohol or did he actually sound a little disappointed?
“I’ll do it…”
The three others all whooped while Steve looked even more flustered. You walked over and draped your arms over Steve’s shoulders and he wrapped his arms around your waist.
“Last chance to back out,” he breathed, giving you some more time if you wanted.
You crashed your lips to his before you lost your nerve. His lips were warm and smooth against yours. Steve pulled you a little closer to his body. You had kissed a few people when you were dating in high school but this one… this one felt perfect. You were so lost in the kiss; you barely noticed the cheering from the others. Slowly, you and Steve pulled away from each other. Steve smiled warmly at you then blushed as the hollering continued.
“Alright, you lot. Game over. It’s late now, get to bed,” he ordered.
“Boo. Let’s keep playing,” Tony whined.
“No, no more drinking. Bed now.”
“I’ll help carry him. The drunk dead man lift is a two-man event,” Clint said, helping Steve pick up Tony off the floor.
You and Nat made your way back to your own rooms. Trying to be as quiet as possible, you made your way to your bed but unfortunately, you were a little tipsier than you thought and tripped over something, making a clatter.
“Y/N?” Wanda sleepily voiced.
“Sorry. Did I wake you?”
“It’s okay… did you have fun?” she yawned, sitting up.
“Yeah… I, um… I kissed Steve…” you admitted, feeling your face heat up.
“So… How was it?” she pried, starting to form a cheeky grin.
“It… it was nice…” you smiled, still remembering the warmth of his lips and his body.
“Are you going to go for it?”
“I don’t know… Steve has been pretty nice to me but what if that’s because it’s part of his job… still… I’m pretty sure I felt something when we kissed,” you dreamily sighed.
“You never know if you don’t try,” she encouraged.
Her words gave you thought as you prepared yourself for bed. It’s not like it would be a bad thing if you got in a relationship in college and Steve seemed a pretty nice guy… You would have to wait and see.
Over the next few weeks, you really got the hang of your college routine. For the first quarter, you were just feeling your way around to see courses you liked best before you could fully commit. You were also starting to make friends. In your Theoretical Astrophysics class with Professor Erik Selvig, you met Darcy Lewis. She was really smart and a lot of fun at parties. She was also a good friend; the kind of friend that made sure everyone was having a good time but more importantly, everybody got back safely (even if she was in a different dorm building than yours). Not that you went to a lot of parties. You much preferred staying home and talking with your new best friend Wanda. Not only was she your roommate but she was in your psychology class, working to get a doctorate. You also started hanging out with the others and getting to know them. They all noticed the sparks between you and Steve and either encouraged or playfully teased you both about it.
One afternoon, you were studying in your room when there was a knock on the door.
“Hey, Y/N. You busy?” Steve asked, poking his head through the door.
“Hi, Steve. No, I’m not busy. What’s up?” you asked.
“I’m falling behind in grading these papers for my TA job and I need a hand. Would you mind?”
“Sure…”
You stood up and made your way over to Steve’s room. The truth was, you were actually pretty tired from staying up late last night playing your favourite game Barbarians of Altron. The boss you faced was pretty tough so you and your guild fought hard until it was defeated. You really wanted to take a nap but you also thought this would be a great opportunity to spend some time with Steve.
“Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it,” he sheepishly smiled, handing you a stack of paper. “It’s pretty easy. All you have to do is follow the guide.”
You took your place next to Steve and set to work. At first, all that could be heard was the sound of shuffling paper and the scratching of pens. After a while, your thoughts got the better of you so you decided just to maybe get to know him a little better.
“How did you get so far behind? I know you’re the type of guy to get things done as soon as possible,” you pried.
“Oh, the boss battle went longer than I thought. Damn thing was hard to beat…” he sighed.
Some pieces started to fall into place in your mind.
“That wouldn’t happen to be the boss battle in Barbarians of Altron last night would it?”
“It was… how did you know?” he asked, feeling a little self-conscious.
“I was in the same one! I’m SheildMaiden94!”
“You’re ShieldMaiden94?! I’m TheNomad1914!”
“No way! Your strategies are legendary!” you beamed.
“Thanks! Although last night they weren’t working so well…”
“Oh, don’t worry about last night. That guy was a pain,” you assured him.
Steve grinned at you and continued working while he chatted while you did the same.
“So, how long have you been playing for?” you asked.
“Since high school. Bucky got me into it. He goes by WinterWolf_17. What about you?”
“Also, high school…”
The pair of you continued discussing your favourite battles and items while you graded and before you knew it, the task was completed.
“Thanks for all your help, Y/N. It really means a lot to me,” he smiled.
“You’re welcome. I look forward to the next raid,” you smiled back.
Steve grinned and escorted you back to your room. As you closed your door, you couldn’t help but smile. You had always admired your guildmate for his leadership skills and action in battle but knowing the man behind the character… felt like something was meant to be.
By the time winter came around, you and Steve had bonded over your love of Barbarians of Altron but that was only the start. You got to know more about one another. You told Steve that you had almost narrowed down your field of interest and you learned that Steve was taking a few art and history classes. He showed you some of his beautiful works from his life model studies.
Time had flown by so fast. Before you knew it, winter break had come. As much as you wanted to go home for the holidays, you just couldn’t afford to travel but you still called them to let them know how you were going. Most of your dormmates had gone home, except for Steve. He stayed behind to finish a project he was working on. Once you finished your phone-call, Steve came to check on you.
“Hey… how’s it going?” he gently asked, walking into your room after knocking.
“I’m okay… I just miss my family. This is my first time being away from them this time of year,” you sniffled, wiping away a few tears.
Steve came to sit next to you on your bed.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
You smiled softly at him and began telling him all about your family. Steve listened as you told him the traditions you would uphold and the antics certain family members would get into along with funny stories from years gone by and by the time you were finished, you were feeling a lot better.
“How about we go downstairs, make some hot chocolate and watch some classics?” Steve suggested.
That was how you spent that festive season; cuddled up to Steve watching holiday movies under a blanket and sipping hot chocolate. You felt so safe and warm in his arms.
After the holidays, you and Steve were closer than ever. Your conversations became deeper and more meaningful and every movie night, you would cuddle up together but it wasn’t until Valentine’s Day that things were made official. Steve had told you how much he admired female artists throughout history so before Valentine’s Day, you bought a book about them, covering everyone from Augusta Savage to Artemisia Gentileschi. Taking a deep breath in, you knocked on Steve’s door. He smiled and let you in.
“I’m so glad you came by,” he beamed.
“Well, I… I have something for you…”
You presented your neatly wrapped gift to him. Steve opened it, taking great care not to rip the paper and smiled when he saw the cover of the book.
“This is beautiful,” Steve marvelled, admiring the gorgeous artwork.
He smiled and flicked through a few pages before placing the book on his desk.
“I have something for you too,” he confessed, handing you his present.
You opened yours and were instantly in awe. It was a framed drawing of you and Steve as your characters for Barbarians of Altron, back-to-back and engaged in combat with some unknown enemy. You couldn’t help but smile at it.
“I love it, Steve. Thank you so much…”
“It… it’s not much… Y/N, I like you a lot and… well… there’s a Frieda Kahlo exhibition happening in a gallery nearby and I was wondering if… you would like to go with me.”
“Like a date?”
“Yeah… That is, if you want it to be… I feel like we’ve gotten so close this term and I just… Am I misreading things?”
Steve was so cute when he was flustered. You decided to put him out of his misery and kissed his cheek.
“I’d love to go on a date with you, Steve,” you smiled.
Steve grinned and together, you worked out a time to go out.
The next night, you met up with Steve after Wanda and Nat helped you pick an outfit. Steve complemented you, making butterflies swarm in your stomach and held your hand as you headed to the gallery.
The exhibition was absolutely amazing. There were some of the artist’s works on display along with those of her husband, Diego Rivera, some of her beautiful dresses, photos and videos of the couple along with signs explaining the history of Mexico in Frieda’s time. The whole display was on loan to the gallery by a private collector. As you passed paintings, Steve went into detail about the brushstrokes, techniques and symbolism that went into a work of art. You weren’t entirely sure on everything he explained but you loved seeing the ways his face lit up when he was passionate about a subject.
After walking through the whole gallery, Steve bought you a Frieda inspired necklace made by a local artist at the gift shop before you grabbed dinner at a nearby café. As you ate, you discussed the exhibit and class life. Once you were finished, you walked back to the dorm.
“Thanks for taking out, tonight, Steve. I had a lot of fun,” you smiled.
“I’m glad,” he smiled back. “I was hoping I could take you out more… as my girlfriend that is…”
You crashed your lips against Steve’s. He was caught off guard at first but slowly kissed back. You could feel the love and passion in the kiss and when you pulled away to breathe, you both had dreamy smiles.
“I would love to be your girlfriend.”
Steve smiled and kissed you again, unaware you were being watched by your friends inside. Of course, they would give you a bit of a hard time but they were so happy you were finally together. You couldn’t wait to start the next stage of your college life with this wonderful, kind man who stole your heart from day one.

“My name’s Heath. I’m from the Underworld and I’m fifteen”🎶🔥
After fighting with myself for months, I’ve finally added this guy to my collection! I was never a fan of Heath in G1 -both his design and personality were never enough for me to justify buying him—but I LOVE this current version!
First of all, being the son of freakin’ Hades was the best decision ever—gotta love that Greek representation🙌🇬🇷but to make him a goofy environmentalist who grew up with Draculaura AND is against everything his father stands for?? That’s SO much more in depth than anything we learned from him during Monster High’s original run!
I do wish his doll came with an iCoffin instead of sunscreen—whyyy would a fiery god need that at all?? And also sneakers, even though I understand the whole vacation theme. Budget lines are a good way to include boy dolls without sacrificing as many sales.
What do you think of G3 Heath?

long monster high rant lmao
as someone who grew up with g1 monster high and loved everything about it (downloaded all the apps, watched all the movies, played all the flash games, dressed as lagoona for one halloween, etc) i genuinely dont understand the hate g3 gets
“drac and lagoona dont have their accents anymore the show is ruined >:(“ ??? no way ur actually mad about accent changes HAHA WHAT (also the og accents were like terrible impressions too lmfao) i did used to be bothered by lagoona blue being pink but i stopped caring a while ago bc whats the point lmfao
i really dont think its justifiable to use the excuse ‘i dont like change’ either bc like i think some people really hate diversity huh :/ idk
i was a bit hesitant when g3 was first announced (mainly just bc of the LA movies) but its just gotten better and better imo (also i lowkey like the LA movies theyre just fun and silly and the songs are lowkey good)
i was scared they were gonna ruin it and that itd be like a mindless cash grab but u can tell they actually care about what theyre putting out
and the show is one of the first kids shows ive seen that ACTUALLY isnt afraid to talk about lgbtq topics (THEY SAID QUEER !! FRANKIES PRONOUNS!! CLANKIEEE🫶🏻🫶🏻) plus all the diverse body types and personalities and normilazations of them all
also im just happy its back in mainstream again bc i still love monster high g1 AND g3 (g2 never happened we dont talk about her lmfao) and i love the new (and old!) dolls too theyre so cute
some people seem to just refuse to look past g3 being kinda different than g1 and never actually look into the changes which is fine but also maybe see what ur hating about before u start to hate lmfao
n e way tldr i dont understand g3 hate

perhaps it was always my bias bc i was much more into cleo/ghoulia in g1 but i kinda always saw cleo and deuce as like a very high school couple that have these passionate breakups and makeups on a regular basis and once they grew up a little that dynamic would stop being really enough for them and they would have a surprisingly amicable split.
obvi g3 doesnt conform to my headcanons any more than it does to g1 canon but i personally like the idea that they were together, split and probably spent some time apart as a result, and now theyre just chill with each other.
honestly its kinda nice to see a kids/young teen oriented show that doesnt act like all couples either have to be together forever or else have a huge dramatic blowout and never see each other again.
