Folks who are using Simler's mod instead of NRaas StoryProgression -- how is it going for you? I know @oasislandingresident does.
Overall, performance has been great, so that's lovely. However, I have the tuning on to pop up whenever the debugged EA StoryProgression does something, and so far I have seen: 1. In the first couple of game days, some inactives were roped into being Showtime performers, but I have not seen any actual Showtime performers in the town.
2. Emigrating sims
3. Killing sims
4. Assigning several university degrees and rebel/nerd/jock social group assignments every few days.
I have NOT seen: Marriages, births, immigration, house moves, job changes (not sure if I'd be notified of that), or anything that would progress the townsfolk in any meaningful way, particularly increasing the population.
Even with all the bugfixes, it sure looks like the town is depopulating just as much as it would without all of Simler's fixes. There are a notable number of empty residential lots in town.
Also, I set the teen twins to meet new friends at school. They have "met" 2-3 classmates who were homeless and looked like they were generated to be classmates. However, I couldn't get the the classmates to instantiate at all -- the twins could call them, but if they agreed to come over, an error would throw to reset the active sim inviting them. ErrorTrap records what looks like a bad outfit error. I know NRaas has some fixes for that, but I couldn't seem to find one that actually made a difference. Out of frustration, I moved two of the homeless teens into a physical house to see if I could get the game to sort them, but on the next cycle StoryProgression emigrated the household, so now they're gone. The twins have, I think, three classmates.
Now, I may be causing this in some way. I'm still running a bunch of NRaas mods, including the trifecta of ErrorTrap, DebugEnabler, and Overwatch. Overwatch is a tricksy choice, but I have disabled any check that looked likely to conflict. I'm also running NRaas Careers, but I didn't think that actually *progressed* careers, just defined some options custom career options.
Is anyone seeing better behavior with Simler? If so, could we compare mod lists?
If this doesn't get better, I think I'm going to go back to NRaas SP and just try to configure it to have a light touch. NRaas at default settings runs a LOT of events, and considering that I don't switch households, I don't actually care about most of them. It almost instantly pairs off every eligible inactive in town. I want some advancement, but it's awfully nice that a sim who is single when I meet them stays single when they meet the next day.
There are a lot of non-StoryProgression fixes in Simler's mod. In theory, one could run NRaas StoryProgression and still get other fixes from Simler.
Thoughts?

Western Illinois, Year 40, 2046-2047
Tumblr media
The final season of our sim dynasty with Western Illinois in College Hoops 2K8 is here.
Welcome back to our simulated dynasty with the Western Illinois Leathernecks in College Hoops 2K8. You can find a full explanation of this project + spoiler-free links to previous seasons here. Check out the introduction to this series from early April 2020 for full context. As a reminder, we simulate every game in this series and only control the recruiting and coaching strategies. Dynasty mode runs for 40 years.
Before we pick up with the Leathernecks at the start of Year 40, here’s a recap of everything that happened last season:
Western Illinois entered Year 39 trying to three-peat as national champions for the first time in program history. We lost two starters early to the NBA coming into the season, but still had enough talent to be ranked No. 10 overall in the preseason polls.
We ran through the regular season schedule, losing only one game to UCLA during the non-conference season and sweeping Summit League opponents once again. We entered the NCAA tournament at 29-1 on the year and earned a No. 4 seed to the big dance.
We beat Brown in round one, knocked off Georgia Tech in the round of 32, beat Indiana in the Sweet 16, and lost to Florida in the Elite Eight. We know enter the final season of my career tied with John Wooden with 10 national championships.
We added three players in our last ever recruiting class: five-star JUCO SF Jerald Obasohan, four-star SG Erwin Walls, and four-star PF Kenny Butler.
Here’s a first look at our roster for Year 40:
Tumblr media
It feels like only yesterday that a fresh-faced, 25-year-old came to the small town of Macomb, Illinois with big dreams. Coach Rick was hired by Western Illinois to do the impossible: win a national championship with arguably the worst team in college basketball. After 39 seasons at the helm, our tiny program has accomplished that and so much more. Now it’s time to hang it up.
Our journey at Western Illinois is finally coming to an end. In literal terms, College Hoops 2K8 forces mandatory retirement upon coaches in dynasty mode after 40 seasons. All good stories need closure either way. As we start our final season, we have some big stakes attached to our swan song.
Western Illinois has won 10 national championships in the Ricky Charisma era. That ties us with UCLA legend John Wooden for the most in history. What started as a mission to win a single national championship has now left us with a different goal: to become the undisputed greatest program in the history of the sport.
While we failed in our bid to three-peat last season — falling to Florida in the Elite Eight — we did bring back all four breakout juniors for this season. We only lost starting center DJ Foster to graduation. Yeah, it’s been a while since we last published Year 39 (thanks for your patience), so let’s go over the roster:
PG Christano Ngounou, junior, 89 overall: Ngounou made major strides after being forced into the starting lineup last season, and now looks like a rock solid contributor going into our final year. An international recruit out of Cameroon, Ngounou is a fast 6’3 guard with lockdown defensive ability and a slightly above average three-point shot. We have bigger names on this squad who will be expected to carry the scoring load, but Ngounou is going to play a huge role because he’s way better than every other point guard on the roster. We need quality minutes from him in the tournament. Former five-star international recruit with B potential.
SG Bernie Doyle, redshirt senior, 92 overall: Doyle is an incredible talent who enters his senior year looking to fully blossom into a superstar. The 6’9 shooting guard uses his immense size on both ends of the floor. He’s elite at getting into the passing lanes and forcing steals (a team-high 1.8 per game as a junior) on the defensive end, and has a sweet three-point stroke offensively. Doyle is such a smooth scorer and dominant defender that it feels like he has the natural talent to develop into an all-great in his senior year. Let’s hope he’s up to the challenge. Former No. 36 overall recruit from Detroit with C potential. Projected lottery pick.
SF Floyd Keller, redshirt senior, 92 overall: Keller checks every box for a small forward. He has good size at 6’7. He has a three-point rating in the mid-80s. He’s the best dunker on the team. He’s an elite offensive rebounder for a wing with a rating in the low 90s, which helps equip him to play minutes at the four. After a tough shooting night in our Elite Eight loss last season — he went 1-for-7 from three — we’ll need Keller to be consistently great if we want one more run through the bracket. Former No. 101 overall recruit out of Dallas with C+ potential. Projected second round pick.
PF Oscar Fray, redshirt senior, 88 overall: Fray enters his third year as a starter with a fascinating combination of size and skill that could set him up for a breakout senior year. The 7-foot power forward is a great three-point shooter for his position with a rating just below 80. Defensively, he’s the top-rated shot blocker on the team, and also does a pretty good job on the glass. Former No. 118 overall recruit out of Lynn, MA with C potential. Projected second round pick.
C Brody Munoz, redshirt senior, 92 overall: Munoz finally gets the spotlight as a senior after backing up DJ Foster — a one-time NCAA tournament Most Outstanding Player — for his entire career up to this point. We’re expected big things, and not just because he’s tied for the highest rated player on the roster going into the regular season. What Munoz lacks in elite size at 6’11 he can make up for with strength, agility, and rebounding. We expect him to be really good at forcing turnovers, grabbing putbacks, and helping fortify the paint. Former No. 169 overall recruit (No. 6 center) out of Nashville with B potential. Projected lottery pick.
We have an incredibly deep bench for our final season. Center Logan Polk (85 overall) will be our sixth man, and should be able to form a three-man front court rotation with the two starters in the tournament. After that, we have a lot of options but not a lot of good options.
Here’s the rest of the bench: wing Jaycee Queen (80 overall), wing Jerald Obasohan (79 overall), guard Archie Howell (78 overall), wing/guard James Haranga (74 overall), guard Edwin Walls (74 overall), and power forward Kenny Butler (74 overall).
This is really it. Year 40. The last dance. What a ride it has been. We start the season at No. 4 in the polls.
How did the regular season go?
For our final regular season, we tried to schedule a good mix of local schools and historic big conference rivals with a couple in-season tournaments thrown in for good measure.
Here’s how the regular season went:
Win over Bradley
Win over Nebraska
Win over UTEP
Loss to Southern Illinois
Win over Florida
Loss to Northwestern
Win over New Mexico
Win over DePaul
That sets up a rivalry game against Illinois. We’ve played the Illini in almost every season, and we don’t want to end this dynasty without one more dub. The losses to Southern Illinois and Northwestern were a real bummer, and we need a palate cleanser. Let’s go!
Tumblr media
Big win, 102-68. Look at Cristano Ngounou hanging 17 points and six assists on the Illini. Love seeing both starters in the front court — seniors Oscar Fray (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Brody Munoz (18 points, 11 rebounds) — each dropping a double-double, too. And how about our new five-star JUCO addition Obasohan chipping in 12 points off the bench? Really promising performance from the boys.
We get a big win over Kansas in our next game. That sets up another marquee game with a program we don’t like very much out of the state of North Carolina: Duke. We’ve battling with Duke on the court and on the recruiting trail for 40 freaking years. Can we end this rivalry with a dub?
Tumblr media
Ugh, loss, 88-83. Nice games from Bernie Doyle (19 points, four assists) and Oscar Fray (14 points, 12 rebounds), but it isn’t enough. That’s our third loss of the season. Get bent, Duke.
We end the year with three more non-conference games.
Win over Illinois-Chicago
Win over American
Win over Arizona State
While we may have lost the final battle to Duke, I won the war over Coach K with a significantly better career by any measure (more on that in a minute). Now it’s time to jump into conference play in the Summit League.
Did we go undefeated in conference season?
Yes we did, another perfect 18-0 stretch.
Now we enter the conference tournament. Can we punch one more automatic bid to the NCAA tournament?
Win over UMKC
Win over Southern Utah
Win over UL-Calcutta
We’re going to the NCAA tournament for the last time, but that isn’t even the headliner after winning the Summit League. Im taking home the conference tournament championship, I won game No. 1,171 of my career. That currently puts me ahead of Coach K for the most wins all-time.
We have built a great legacy at Western Illinois. Before we enter the NCAA tournament, let’s take a look at our statistical leaders:
Tumblr media
What a year for Munoz. Dude sat on the bench for four seasons before finally getting a starting spot, and all he did was lead our team in scoring at 17.2 points per game. Fray was awesome, too, averaging a hair under 15 points per game while chipping in nearly two blocks and six rebounds per game. It’s good to see Keller and Doyle both hit double-figures in scoring. I’m a bit surprised Cristano couldn’t even put up seven points a night after his big game against Illinois, but the assist and steals numbers are solid. We’re going to need him in March.
The Leathernecks are heading into the NCAA tournament at 32-3 on the year. I can’t wait to see what seed we get.
2047 NCAA tournament
Well, we couldn’t end this dynasty without getting swindled by the Selection Committee one more time. We’re a No. 6 seed in the NCAA tournament. I thought we should have been a top-four seed without question.
We’ll open the tournament with a game against No. 11 seed Syracuse. Sheesh. Before we get to the game, let’s check in on our roster one more time:
Tumblr media
I’m loving the way this group progressed through the year. We have two awesome wing scorers with an elite combination of size and shooting in Keller and Doyle. We have plenty of beef up front with Munoz, Fray, and Polk. Ngounou entered the program as a 77 overall and shot up to a 92 in three years without a redshirt. The bench also really improved during the season and should give us plenty of different lineup options in March.
This is going to be a tough run, starting with Syracuse. The Orange have knocked us out of the big dance before, and consistently put together really strong teams.
Our last dance starts now. As always, we’re simulating every game, I’m not controlling the ‘Necks.
Let’s go!
Tumblr media
Win, 105-73! What an absolute beatdown. We’ve moving on to the round of 32.
Long-time followers of the series will know that our Leathernecks have always been known as a second half team. It happened in a big way in this game. Syracuse ended the first half strong to cut our lead to nine points, but we quickly turned it into a blowout out of the break.
I thought this was a tremendous all-around team effort. Six players hit double-figures in scoring with no one putting up more than Floyd Keller’s 15 points. Everyone who played recorded an assist. I loved this play from the first half when we set two screens for our five-star JUCO Obasohan that helped get him an easy layup.
twitch_clip
Our bench is a big question mark coming into this tournament, mostly because it’s filled with a lot of fresh faces who haven’t played big minutes in clutch spots before. I have to say, the performance of our reserves in our tournament opener was super encouraging. Obasohan in particular looks like a keeper after scoring 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting and knocking down a three. We always need wing depth, and he should be able to provide that on this run.
The clear highlight of Obasohan’s night: this sick two-handed dunk in transition for an and-one.
twitch_clip
We love to turn defense into offense, and Ngounou and Doyle’s ability to get into the passing lanes really helps us out there.
Speaking of Ngounou in transition: he had a beautiful finish on the break to put the game fully out of reach. That’s what you want out of your point guard.

The win sets up a second round game against Colorado State
The Rams have been a solid program throughout this sim dynasty, regularly making NCAA tournament appearances. We have a decisive edge in talent heading into this game.
We are one win away from going to the Sweet 16 and extended our run in the big dance. One time, ‘Necks. Let’s go!
Tumblr media
Win, 109-79! We’re going to the Sweet 16!
We didn’t need to be a second half team in this one. Our ‘Necks blew the doors off Colorado State from the opening tip-off. I thought we played a great game offensively thanks to our inside-out ball movement.
We had five scorers in double-figures in this one, but it was senior starters Bernie Doyle and Oscar Fray leading the charge. We know Doyle is capable of taking over a game at his best, and he was awesome in this one: 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 shooting from three. The real story was Fray, though.
Fray was probably the least appealing long-term prospect of our recruiting class when he entered the program alongside Doyle, Keller, and Munoz. That was mostly because of his 74 rating and C potential grade. While he’s always been rated a few points lower than his classmates, Fray’s skill set on the court is so important to us. He’s a massive 7-foot power forward who can protect the rim and shoot threes. What more do you want?
Fray went off in this game: 22 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals on 9-of-11 shooting. I love watching the big man shoot from deep. This was from NBA range.
twitch_clip
Here’s one more catch-and-shoot three for good measure.
twitch_clip
Fray might get slept on a little on this team, but he’s absolutely critical to our success if we want to win it all.
I also want to shout-out the bench for another solid performance. I liked what I saw out of Obasohan (11 points) and Howell (10 points). Since we already have two Obasohan clips in this post, why not make it three? Love him hitting this triple in the first half to help us open up the lead.
twitch_clip
We’re rollin’.
The win sets up a Sweet 16 game vs. Alabama
We’re now four wins away from ending this dynasty with a national championship. A Sweet 16 game against Bama is going to be an absolute battle.
In our simulated future, the Tide have become a basketball school. This program seems to make the tournament every year, and they’ve given us plenty of trouble in the past.
A trip to the Elite Eight is on the line. Let’s go!
Tumblr media
Win, 112-69! We’re onto the Elite Eight!
Say it with me: SECOND. HALF. TEAM. After a tight first half left us with a six-point lead coming into the break, our ‘Necks absolutely torched the nets in the second half to come away with the blowout win. Seriously: we scored 66 points in the final 20 minutes. That was an offensive clinic at its best.
I had a good feeling about the second half when Cristano got this three hit the rim like 50 times before falling. Sometimes you need some good luck on your side.
twitch_clip
A couple possessions later, Floyd Keller came down a ripped another three. We finally had a double-digit lead, and we’d never look back.
It was great to see Keller (15 points) get going from deep. He hit all three of his attempts from beyond the arc.
twitch_clip
While we don’t have any clips of the front court from this game, they absolutely deserve credit for the win.
Fray turned in another incredible performance, this one somehow even better than his last. He ended the game with 25 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks on 10-of015 shooting. He didn’t attempt a three (booooo) but he dominated the game on both ends. His front court mate Munoz was almost as good. The senior center finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds. We kept going inside — Munoz and Fray combined for 35 (!) field goal attempts — and they were making the Bama defense pay.
Not the best Bernie Buckets game (9 points on 3-of-10 shooting), but I clipped this shot from the first half, so I might as well embed it here.
twitch_clip
Elite Eight, here we come.
The win sets up an Elite Eight matchup against No. 1 seed Indiana
Our run in the NCAA tournament has been a breeze up to this point, but I fear things about to get a lot more difficult. Our plucky No. 6 seed is about to run into one of college basketball’s blue bloods: the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers.
The Elite Eight has been something of a bugaboo for us. We lost in this round last year. We’ve lost in this round many times before. I don’t want it to happen again.
A Final Four trip is on the line. As always, we’re watching a simulated version of this game; I am not controlling the Leathernecks. Let’s go!

Loss, 96-86. Oh my gosh. And just like that, our dream of ending this dynasty with a national title is over.
I am devastated. I really thought this team was good enough to send me out on top, but it wasn’t meant to be. The Hoosiers’ outside shooters did us in. Indiana’s guard-heavy lineup caught fire from deep (10-of-21 for 47.6 percent), and our perimeter attack couldn’t keep up. We only hit 6-of-22 (27.3 percent) attempts from three.
What happened to our second half team this time? We were only down two going into halftime, but we were outscored by eight over the final 20 minutes. Tough scene.
There were some solid individual performances. Munoz went out strong with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Bernie Doyle dropped 21 points and hit this three-pointer to keep us in it early.
twitch_clip
Floyd Keller just didn’t give us enough on the wing. He shot 1-of-8 from three in the loss. He did give us a little juice in transition, at least.
twitch_clip
Cristano played all 40 minutes, and had eight points and nine assists. I really wish I got another year with him as a senior next season.
twitch_clip
Unfortunately there is no next season. After 40 years at Western Illinois, our sim dynasty is over. Here are some final numbers on the series:
Final record: 1,177-213
10 national championships (tied with John Wooden for the most in men’s college basketball history)
15 Final Four appearances

38 Summit League regular season championships
35 Summit League tournament championships
38 seasons with 20+ wins

Who is the best player in Western Illinois history?
That’s the big question within the fanbase right now. Before we get to it, let’s look back at our greatest recruiting wins.
We landed five five-star recruits out of the domestic high school ranks during my time at Western Illinois. We also signed nine five-star JUCO recruits, and six five-star international recruits from places like New Zealand (shout-out Dave French), Montenegro (anti shout-out Vitor Andrisevic), France (what up, Kim Kone!), and Cameroon.
The highest-rated recruit in program history was Sammy Yan at No. 10 overall in 2032. He was pretty much a disappointment. The program’s all-time leading scorer was center Vinnie Harmon with 2,452 career points during his career. He was the No. 122 overall recruit and the No. 8 center (those that followed the series or played the game know that centers are always weirded underrated on the recruiting trail).
Here are some more numbers during tournament games only (aka, the games we streamed), from the amazing Leathernecks Database maintained by our fans:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The highest rated player in program history is a tie between small forward Nic Cummings and point guard Duncan Martinez, who are the only players to reach 97 overall. Cummings in particular is a great choice for the GOAT. He ended his career with three national titles, though only one as a starter. He’s top-10 for me, but not No. 1.
The people’s choice for the GOAT is Deke Van, the legendary center who helped carry us to our first national title in Year 8. Deke’s turn from from Year 7 goat to Year 8 GOAT is the most memorable we’ve ever had. We couldn’t have done any of this without you, Deke.
When Coach tell you youre guarding @deke_van https://t.co/RDhmDAPRA8 pic.twitter.com/fm2udgvMZT
— Ryan Thomas (@RTtheSID) May 10, 2020
As the series went on, other great players emerged who finished with gaudier stats and better resumes.
My personal favorite might be Bert Draughan, Mr. Basketball out of Chicago (No. 29 overall recruit), who went on to win a title with us in Year 13 and also starred for our Year 11 team that began the season 35-0 before losing to Michigan State in the Final Four. Harmon is another fine choice. Skip Clemmons helped us win three national titles in Year 23, Year 24, and Year 26. Albert Jagla, Clemmons’ former teammate, played a big role in our first back-to-back championship squad, and is arguably the greatest perimeter bucket-getter in program history.
All-time favorite moment? Impossible to say. The first one that comes to mind is Kim Kone’s go-ahead corner three in the 2024 tournament. Najeeb Goode’s steal vs. UCLA in the Final Four to help us win our second title in Year 13 also stands out. There was also the time superstar power forward Allen Cunningham took off his pants mid-game.

Thank you to everyone who read, watched, and interacted
I started this series on April 11, 2020, a few weeks after the pandemic had shut down all ‘real’ sports. At the time, I was gearing up to cover the 2020 NCAA tournament. That never happened. I had college basketball on my mind, and I always wanted to write something on ‘College Hoops 2K8’, probably my favorite video game ever. This project is what came of it.
I had no idea if anyone was going to read this. I definitely did not think I’d finish out all 40 years like a complete lunatic. I didn’t think I’d write the equivalent of multiple books in terms of total word count.
Just before I dropped the first post in the series, I tweeted this:
Got a real dumb blog post coming
— Ricky O'Donnell (@SBN_Ricky) April 11, 2020
I wrote around 70 posts in the series, counting the inaugural Hall of Fame induction (read a big Deke Van retrospective at that link) and two posts of my Deke Van x Seattle Supersonics spin-off. I’m estimating I wrote 200,000 words in this series. That’s about the length of “The Fellowship of the Ring.”
I still can’t believe everything that came from this series. The Washington Post wrote a profile on it. I went on WGN TV and did a few radio spots promoting it. We sold a Deke Van t-shirt with Homefield Apparel. Our series inspired a new friend in Japan named Thanh Nguyen to write a pair of e-books adding greater depth to our story. Friend of the program Mike Rutherford did an amazing hype video for our first championship run. When I moved the series to Substack for a few months, more than 7,000 people signed up for email updates and still remain. Our first Twitch stream for the Year 8 Final Four drew more than 7,000 total viewers, and had 2,500 concurrent viewers on it at as we were closing out the win. On SB Nation, the series has been viewed more than 500K times.
What really made the project special was always the community around it. Some quick shout-outs:
The Leathernecks Database is an amazing companion to this series. You can lost in there. Thank you to the diehards to helped maintain it, and reader Evan for starting it.
Thanks to my guy who started the Leathernecks Nation instagram fan page and whoever is behind the wondrous fake Deke Van twitter account.
Thanks to everyone in the Discord who maintained ‘Necks discussion always and forever.
Thank the diehards that came out for every Twitch stream. I don’t want to name names because I’ll forget someone, but you know who you are. I love you all. I also want to thank the readers for keeping up with the recaps, and everyone who emailed me feedback throughout the series. I also want to thank my buddy Scott for introducing me to the game and running through multiple 40-year dynasties with me way before I ever considered blogging through it like this. This series would not exist without him.
What a ride it’s been. As I sim through to the end of the calendar, I’m greeted with this message.

Thank you, everyone. Go ‘Necks.

I've been following Mixcraft since its original release as various songwriter and musician friends kept referring to its ease of use and capabilities. Since version 1 its functions have been steadily growing while somehow the Mixcraft team managed to keep its price close to the original. I was given version 4 to review but while going to print, the Acoustica team released version 5, so naturally I spent some time with the software to get a feel for the changes. While I honestly couldn't find much to gripe about version 4, version 5 had me ecstatic over the changes and new features. To be honest, I would like to pretty much say - 'What are you waiting for? Get it!'. However, for the sake of journalistic integrity I'll go on in more details explaining why I think the Acoustica team have really nailed it this time.

In the day of challenge/response and all kinds of convoluted registration schemes, installing Mixcraft is simple - you purchase a CD or a download that comes with a serial #, run the installer, type in the serial and you're good to go. Best linux vm for mac. No hassle and you're done in less than 2 minutes! I could only wish my other software installs worked this way! I installed the software on my recording machine (4gb RAM, dual AMD XP4200 processor) running Windows XP SP4 and PreSonus Firepod interface via ASIO drivers.

Features Mixcraft features a linear layout, similar to Apple Garageband or Mackie Tracktion. The interface is laid out in a clean and concise manner, with most functions you need available at the click of a button. The program is a fully featured audio and midi workstation, and supports Acid and Garageband loops. It has the capability to record simultaneous audio and midi, limitations depending on the audio interface and computer power. Included is a decent size royalty-free sample loop library, 8 virtual instruments, including the Acoustica Instruments General MIDI sample library, Acoustica Expanded Instruments sample library, Lounge Lizard Session vintage electric piano, VB3 tonewheel organ, MiniMogueVA monophonic analog synthesizer, Messiah polyphonic analog synthesizer, Alien303 Bass Synthesizer, and Impulse polyphonic analog synthesizer. The software also comes with 20 effects, including the Pultronic Tube EQ, the Shred Amp Simulator (by AcmeBarGig), a complete suite of 5 classic amp heads, 17 cabinet models, and 6 powerful effects. Mixcraft supports VSTi, VST and Direct X plugins and virtual instruments, so if you need to expand your effects or midi instruments, it is very easy to do so. Mixcraft also supports popular audio formats for import (WAV, AIF, OGG, WMA, MP3) and exports into WAV and MP3 format. The software also allows the use of unlimited tracks and effects (results vary based on system resources), features time-stretching algorithm and can run on the following drivers: WDM, ASIO and WaveRT Exclusive Mode, which due to its architecture is available for Windows 7 only. Version 5 of Mixcraft also gets probably what were the most upgrades from owners of previous releases - effects send/return busses and a mixer window. It also adds increased automation features and an incredible value added tool in the Musical Typing Keyboard (MTK) which lets you play your computer keyboard as a midi controller. Version 5 also gets and Notation tool with which you can do a professional music notation. The list of features continues so for full description click here. In Use
Tumblr media
To test Mixcraft I loaded a few songs that I was working on from WAV files and proceeded to build up the compositions and add a few extra parts. The first striking thing was that without a manual I managed to get started tracking right away. Actually throughout the whole time I can't think I ever referred to the manual - everything was where I expected it to be and was pretty much self explanatory. I ran a few realtime amp simulations while tracking guitar and Mixcraft handled them with ease and latency was very low, at about 2-3ms. Mixcraft performed like a champ as I proceeded loading it with more and more files. Compared to other software, such as Cubase LE4 and Tracktion, Mixcraft was running these tracks with less overhead and seemed to be more responsive than the competition. The software comes with its own plugin bundle, guitar amp sims and virtual instruments, which while useful still left something to be desired. The addition of the Pultec inspired Pultronic Tube EQ is definitely a step in the right direction but still this is the only part of the software where I can tell the price point. Luckily for us, Mixcraft runs external VST and Direct X plugins as well and they even encourage supplementing with some freeware VST effects, such as Kjaerhus Audio Classic Series, SIR convolution reverb and so forth. Working with Mixcraft was a very pleasant experience and I noticed that my workflow improved as less clutter meant more music-making. Fader automation is a breeze, as is audio editing - pretty much all the functions that I needed were there. An extra plus was the included audio export to MP3 as some programs, such as Cubase LE charge extra for that option. While mixing I'd have to say that the new mixer view came in real handy and the software's dual monitor mode definitely helped me better organize the workflow - I simply sent the mixer to the second monitor and was happily zipping along with the tracks. Another handy new tool that I found was the new Link Feature - it allowed me to link together a whole section of a song, and move it around as a one piece. This comes in really handy when you're not exactly sure if say your bridge should go between the bridge or the chorus, or maybe the chorus needs to be extended twice. Some other new features that came in really handy were the bounce (Mix to New Audio Track) and MIDI Merging (Mix to New Clip) features. The bounce feature was great when combining several recorded sources of the same guitar signal - in my case I recorded guitar with 3 tracks, one DI that I ran amp emulation on and two mic tracks that I blended to taste, compressed and eq-ed and then bounced to one track to save clutter and conserve system power. The MIDI Merging tool came in handy when I needed to merge a midi drum sample to my tapped-in-via keyboard conga parts so I could run only one midi track for simplicity's sake.
Tumblr media
Overall Mixcraft have managed to create very impressive software, with lots of features that can appeal to novice and veteran users. It is easy to get started on and achieve fast quality results. If you find yourself pulling your hair with the complexities of your more expensive DAW - spare yourself the trouble and give Mixcraft a spin!

Good choice
Got it on the first day, fortunately I got it ordered. The biggest update on this phone is the usb type C port. First of all the phone looks quite premium with minimal bezels and sleek design. It’s little bit slippery also. Phone boots quite fast. Though I am not a fan of MIUI but still it gets the job done. Camera takes very nice pictures, though I didnt like the portrait mode much. Didn’t test the battery, but as per specs it should easily last a day and half on moderate usage. The display …

The Surface Pro X is one of the most expensive connected PC's on the market in 2021, but should you buy one?
There's no denying, the Surface Pro X is Microsoft's best-looking Surface Pro device to date, and it has a hefty price tag to show for it. When it was released back in 2019, the issue users had been dealing with was its inability to run legacy applications natively on ARM. With the release of the updated 2020 Surface Pro X, many of those issues remain, but this computer is undoubtedly the future of computing, and Microsoft has made significant strides to prove that. Using the device for over a month, the Surface Pro X feels like Microsoft's lavish answer to Chromebooks rather than something like Apple's M1 Macs; it's really in a unique, quirky category of its own, and hopefully, by the end of this review, you'll have determined if this device is for you.
Tumblr media
This device was provided to MUO for review by Microsoft Canada.
Design and Comfort
When it comes to design, the Surface Pro X is still hands-down the best-looking Surface device. Compared to the dated looks of the Surface Pro 7, the Surface Pro X is slim, light, and comes in a new Platinum finish, which gives it a much more flashy appeal.
Tumblr media
The Surface Pro X packs a 13-inch, 1440p, 3:2 aspect ratio display, and it is stunning. Frankly, this is the best-looking display on any Surface device out right now, and that has everything to do with the thin bezels. Unlike the Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 4, or even the Surface Book 3, the Surface Pro X has slim side bezels and a moderately tamed top bezel, which houses the webcam and microphone array. Combined with the Surface kickstand, the Surface Pro X is perfect for jotting down notes, sketching doodles, or streaming shows.
Tumblr media
Microsoft didn't provide any accessories like their Signature Keyboard or the Surface Pen to test out during the review period, but if the typing experience is anything like the other Surface devices, you're in good hands. You can find out more about Microsoft's keyboard quality in our Surface Laptop 4 review.
Overall, two years later, the design of the Surface Pro X still looks fresh. This device is modern, minimal, and perfectly made for the mobile lifestyle.
User Upgradability
Historically, the Surface lineup has always been under criticism for its poor user repairability and upgradeability, but to some extent, Microsoft has made it easier to gain access to certain parts of the device. The RAM is soldered on, but you can access the SSD of the Surface Pro X by using a SIM ejector tool and opening up the metal plate that sits behind the kickstand. Here, you can access the SSD, and the nano-SIM card slot allows the device to connect to a cellular network.
Tumblr media
  Specifications and Performance
When it comes to the specifications and performance of the Surface Pro X, this is where things get complicated and a little weird. The 2020 Surface Pro X uses the SQ2 chip that was co-engineered by Qualcomm and Microsoft. Compared to the previous SQ1 chip, there's a slight performance boost, but overall you shouldn't expect anything close to the speed of something like Apple's M1 offerings.
Tumblr media
Our review unit came with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. You can spec up the SQ2 devices with up to 512GB, but there are no RAM upgrades here.
In my testing, the Surface Pro X delivered subpar performance, but generally speaking, it was inconsistent; the best way to describe using this computer would be to treat it like a Chromebook that runs Windows. The device runs fine when you throw web-based apps on it. I got through entire workdays just fine when I was on the browser (preferably Edge, since it's better optimized on ARM), using social media, watching Netflix, and getting on Zoom calls. When it comes to web-based tasks, you will encounter very few performance issues, but I will note that occasionally, I experienced random hangs while watching videos.
When it comes to running apps, I had very few problems with most of the apps I tested. Microsoft polished the software experience when it came to running Windows on ARM, and it shows here. Apps from the Microsoft Store are generally fine, but that's a limited selection, and getting support for these legacy applications will still take some time.
I tried light photo editing in Adobe Photoshop now that Windows on ARM is supported, but the performance isn't impressive. Apple's M1 Macs are still cheaper and superior in terms of performance compared to Microsoft's current offering.
It is apparent that the Surface Pro X is a web-first device. While it's pleasant to work on a computer that looks and feels like the Surface Pro X, Windows on ARM still has a long way to go before it can be a viable replacement to x86 chips.
Ports and Connectivity
Onto ports: this is where things get a bit odd. The Surface Pro X has two USB-C ports; the Surface Connect port, used for charging; and a nano-SIM for cellular connectivity. None of the USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 3 or 4, but you can power two 4K monitors using the Surface Connector if you buy Microsoft's Surface Hub accessory.
The most curious thing about the Surface Pro X is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sure the iPad Pros also don't have a headphone jack, but with a computer that runs full-fledged Windows and is marketed towards people with mobile offices, the exclusion of a headphone jack is bizarre when almost everyone needs to connect with online classes or meetings. Of course, you can connect headphones via Bluetooth or USB-C, but it would be great to see the headphone jack return to a future device.
Tumblr media
When it comes to connectivity, this is where the Surface Pro X shines. I didn't get to extensively test out the cellular connectivity of the Surface Pro X, but the device supports LTE, and you can insert a SIM card to directly get access to the internet instead of tethering to your phone. Having an always-connected PC has the benefit of making out-of-office workflows much more smooth and elegant; this is perfect for getting onto meetings while you're on a commute or being able to publish work while you're somewhere remote.
Tumblr media
Overall, the Surface Pro X has made significant strides in making Windows on ARM more refined. However, until Microsoft can match Apple's level of integration, both on the software and hardware side, the Surface Pro X remains a fancy and rather expensive Chromebook replacement that runs Windows.
Battery Life
When it comes to battery life, you won't be disappointed here. Microsoft claims to have 15 hours of screen-on-time with the Surface Pro X, but you're more realistically going to get about half of that at around 7-8 hours since most apps still aren't optimized for ARM and therefore require more processor-intensive emulation.
While 7-8 hours isn't anything special, the Surface Pro X can deliver that consistently in my testing. It also helps that Microsoft includes a fast 65W power supply in the box that enables fast charging.
Tumblr media
Audio and Video Features
One of the most prominent advantages the Surface Pro X has over other PCs is its camera and microphone array. This device genuinely has one of the best webcams on a Windows computer, and when it comes to audio, the device can pick up on your voice and deliver clear vocals. Microsoft also has this software feature that allows you to correct your eye contact when you're in a video call, and it works surprisingly well. The device is equipped with a rear 10MP camera, which has autofocus and 4K video, but it's better if you use it for scanning documents.
The Surface Pro X's speaker system is also great. They support Dolby Atmos, and this makes the device ideal for consuming content or getting clear audio during video conferences.
Should You Buy the Surface Pro X?
The Surface Pro X is undoubtedly a unique piece of hardware, and won't be suitable for everyone's workflow.
While ARM on Windows has come a long way, there are still fundamental issues that need to be addressed before devices like the Surface Pro X can be recommended to more people.
Tumblr media
Overall, I recommend the Surface Pro X to those that live in the browser, or in other words, have the majority of their workflow based within web apps. The Surface Pro X is great for that, but if you're looking for a more well-rounded device, you're better off looking elsewhere.
Considering the Surface Pro X is $1600 and doesn't include its main accessories, Apple's M1 Macs still offer the best value for ulta-portable all-round performance.

Living with an HP EliteBook x360 1040 G7
For the past few weeks, I've been using a series of new enterprise laptops, including the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G7, the convertible version of HP's high-end enterprise laptop. All of the laptops in this category are fine machines, with relatively similar features. Each has its pros and cons, but the HP differentiates its EliteBook 1000 series this year with features aimed at improved security and better video conferencing. The x360 designation means this is a convertible version, with a 360-degree hinge, so it includes both a touch display and a pen, which magnetically attaches to the side of the keyboard.
At first glance, the EliteBook 1040 G7 looks pretty much as it has for a while, with an aluminum and magnesium chassis, but it's a bit smaller than previous versions. As with a number of current laptops, including the Dell Latitude 7410, the bezels around the screen have been significantly reduced, meaning that you can have a smaller body of the machine but still have a 14-inch display. It has a screen to body ratio of 89 percent, and overall is about 6 percent smaller than last year's model.
Measuring 0.65 by 12.57 by 7.98 inches (HWD), the EliteBook 1040 G7 is somewhat smaller than either the Dell 7410 or the current Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The base unit (with a 4-cell, 54-watt hour battery) weighs 2.9 pounds, but the unit I tested (which had a 78-watt hour battery) weighed 3.07 pounds, which is still lightweight. That's similar to the Latitude 7410. With the power cord and adapter, travel weight is 3.74 pounds. (If you're looking for a lightweight notebook, HP's Elite Dragonfly with a slightly smaller 13.3-inch display is just 2.5 pounds).
The unit I tested had a 400-nit 14-inch FHD (1920 by 1080 pixel) display, and it looked good, but not as bright as the ones on the Latitude 7410 or X1 Carbon. It is also available with a UHD (3840-by2160) display or an FHD SureView Reflect privacy screen.
HP says it has improved the keyboard this year, and it does seem a bit better. In general, I'd rate it as a bit better than the Dell keyboards, and a bit worse than the X1 Carbon. Over the year, as machines have gotten thinner, I find keyboard feel has suffered. It also has a very nice large glass trackpad. The keyboard has been redesigned to now include a few new buttons on the function key row at the top. One of these let you set it to launch a website, application, or open a specific file, which can be useful. Another is an electronic switch that closes a shutter behind the webcam, which HP calls "Sure Shutter." This worked fine, though I think mechanical switches work just as well. A third is the power key, which has moved from the side of the unit. The new location is better when you are using the machine as a laptop, which people do most of the time. Another change this year is that the fingerprint reader is now built into the bottom row of the keyboard. I found this worked ok, though I'm not sure it's the most obvious location.
It has a decent selection of ports, including a USB-A port on both sides, as well as two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports (which are also used for charging) and HDMI on the right side. There's also a SIM port on the left side for use with the optional LTE cellular modem. Unlike some competitors it lacks a microSD card slot.
The unit I tested was the high-end of the line, with a Core i7-10810U processor and 16GB of RAM. This processor has 6 cores and 12 threads, with a base frequency of 1.1 GHz and a max turbo of 4.9 GHz, along with Intel vPro support, which adds some enterprise management features.
In my testing, this was the fastest machine in its class, beating the other mainstream enterprise laptops by small amounts in benchmarks. On a couple of more real-world tests, the differences were more notable: The EliteBook 1040 took about 52 minutes to complete a complex MatLab portfolio simulation, compared with 63 minutes for the X1 Carbon and 73 minutes for the Latitude 7410; and it took 48 minutes for the EliteBook 1040 to run a large Excel model, compared with 54 minutes for the X1 Carbon and 62 minutes for the Latitude 7410. This is probably due to the 6-core/12-thread processor. (Interestingly, I tested a larger Dell Latitude 9510 with the same i7-10810U processor and got much slower results. I've received a new 9510 machine for retesting.) One thing I can say is that the EliteBook seems notably cooler in temperature than the Dell machines, which may be part of the difference. It also showed very nice battery life as well, getting over 14 hours with PCMark 10's Modern Office suite.
As with the new Dell machines, HP has added a presence aware feature where the machine uses a proximity sensor (a time-of-flight sensor) to determine when someone is in front of the machine, and then automatically locks when you leave and wakes when you return, integrating with Windows Hello for unlocking. It worked quite well.
HP continues to have a wide variety of special security applications. Sure Start protects the BIOS from attack and now theoretically supports blocking certain Thunderbolt attacks. Sure Run works with a separate endpoint security controller to let you access the hardware if the operating system is compromised. Sure Click isolates each tab in your browser into a separate virtual container, so that malware would have no ability to get data from any other tab or from the computer. Sure Sense is an anti-malware service that tries to detect persistent threats. These are generally great ideas but may require additional testing—I had trouble running my MatLab tests with SureSense enabled.
HP says this version is designed to be particularly good for the kind of audio and video conferencing we've all been doing the last few months, and it did seem very good for that. It has four speakers, two front-facing microphones, and two world-facing microphones, along with an "AI-based" noise reduction feature that is designed to reduce extraneous calls. I thought the audio was quite good for a small machine. The web camera produced slightly better results than I've seen on the X1 Carbon and the Dell machines. It has a wide field of view and shows a good decent level of detail. It was often quite bright, but sometimes looked a little blown out.
Another change is that HP has placed the WLAN antennae on the top rather than in the base, which should provide better Wi-Fi performance. I've never had an issue with Wi-Fi with any of the recent machines I've tested but it couldn't hurt.
Another piece of software is called Quick Drop. It lets you wirelessly transfer files or photos between the PC and Android or Apple. It's not something I do a lot, but it's an interesting alternative to the newish Your Phone application in Windows.
The EliteBook x360 1040 G7 has a starting list price of $1,649 and includes a Core i5-10210U processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and a 4-cell battery. The unit I tested with a Core i7-10810U processor, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, WWAN, and a 6-cell battery has a list price of $2,499. In other words, this is a premium business notebook, with pricing to match. Of course, if you're ordering a lot of machines, you'll negotiate pricing.
Overall, the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G7 is a very nice enterprise laptop, with great performance and improved web conferencing features. It has some special features, particularly for security and web conferencing, and newer things such as an improved keyboard and the presence-aware sensor make it more convenient than previous generations. Enterprise laptops are not flashy, but HP has a very solid high-end offering here.

Most popular Recommendations to Get the Great Mobile Phone for your Little Ones
Finding the 1st cellphone for your children can be a trial and just one that you need to control from the very start, you need to setup moments meant for using the cellphone along with what site and apps are best for your kids. There is no right or wrong time to give your kid their initial cell phone, nevertheless various researchers acknowledge that the much longer you wait to deliver them their first cellphone, the better. Nevertheless, what if you are a parent or guardian who expects to have the ability to reach their son or daughter without giving them their very own phone too quickly? We have identified a resolution. Relay is a video display-free, water resistant, cell phone that allows your son or daughter to call your cellphone with the tap of a button. Father and mother may additionally utilize the Relay app on the smart phone to individualize their child’s gadget to play music files, have language translation and speak to their classmates and friends who've Relay mobile phones. The Relay telephone itself is certainly $50 and there is a $10 monthly charge to run it on the network system. The phone Relay is offered by many retail stores. It will come in 5 fun designs, so you’re sure to choose the ideal last-minute present on your own little one, or a nephew or niece. The recommended cellphone for children can be found in all shapes and sizes, from one-button press-to-call safety products, to high tech Samsung mobile phone with drop shield, to the cheapest iPhone if you like to have your children make use of the same plans. It is still a challenging choice when searching for the child in your life. We’re right here to guide you to uncover the perfect smart phone for your child, pre-teen, or teen - just about every age, actually. We're professionals on choosing the best smart phones for little ones, just as much as we can aptly get the most popular phones in the USA. We have evaluated significant factors, like parental settings, endurance, ability rules, GPS unit tracking, and expenses. The recommended mobile phones for small children will be extremely basic products generally intended to start a path of updates with parents. For teenagers, we went ahead and aimed for cheap plain mobile phones that allow calling and sending texts without way too many features for your young adults to get caught up in. For high-school individuals, we included low-priced cell phones that deliver a positive balance of worth and efficiency while retaining good parental settings by using Android and iOS. Since newer Android and iPhones mobile phones operating the hottest operating systems (like iOS 11.4 and iOS 12 beta) incorporate substantial parental controls build in, mother and fathers should feel confident picking out these cell phones for teens and pre-teens at their hands. Moto E5 Mobile Phone The Moto E5 is not just one phone but rather a group of affordable cellphones with varying abilities. Despite their difference, they all make great spending budget picks for your teenager. Although affordable Android devices could be functioning on out-of-date devices or software, the Moto E5 is up to date with new Android and processor chips 8.0 software programs. And the Moto E5 Play is trim down a little, which makes it even more budget-friendly at $99. In Great Britain, an ordinary Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus will be around soon. Aside from the regular Moto E5, all of the others feature a water-resistant finish that might help you make sure your kids would not ruin their telephone. Galaxy S8 If you need to get your adolescent an incredibly equipped cell phone but get worried they could damage it and waste lots of money, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is your most desirable choice. It offers all of the overall performance a flagship Android smart phone demands, but it’s built strong. The Galaxy S8 Active screen is sharp, the camera is fantastic, and the battery is forgiving if your teen forgets to charge it one night. All that is packed into a chassis with an great rating. In other words, it could handle a complete large amount of carelessness. We dropped one screen-first onto a rock floor from five ft up, and the display was fine. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active can be purchased in the US on Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Potential clients on other companies and in the UK can look rather at the Samsung Galaxy S8 and any of the most popular Samsung Galaxy S8 cases. Iphone SE Right from the Apple family of mobile phones, our iPhone SE is not the most desirable smart phone, but it is still helped by Apple with the most up-to-date iOS 11 upgrades. Although its time, it carries out excellently with Apple’s A9 processor still, and it shall give your offspring all the phone capabilities they will demand. The benefit of their generation is normally that this comes at an extremely low price for an Apple device. One of the primary downsides about getting your kid an iPhone SE is that it’s not created to end up being exceptionally heavy-duty. Thankfully, this is a dilemma that can easily be resolved with a reasonable iPhone SE case instantly. iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 If price range is not a huge concern and you plan to buy a case (or your teenager has revealed themselves never to be careless), the iPhone 7 or 8 make for superb options. Your child should not come to feel kept back by any not enough capabilities (or design) on these new products, even though you can be assured that the parent adjustments on iOS will be all you need to pay attention to your teenager’s use. Though the advance price tag shall be higher, application support for these newer iPhones should last longer, so you will not have to be stressed about upgrading anytime soon. As an added bonus, the iPhone phone cameras are impressive, so you’ll get to enjoy a lot of beautiful shots of the things your child is doing. There's one explanation to offer your children a cellphone: if they're often out of view of trustworthy adults and may possibly need to speak to you or one other care-giver. Please don't purchase your child an expensive, luxurious smartphone. The Wait Until Eighth program, that advocates only giving young children mobile phones after they get into the 8th grade, makes the right reasons, though it too quickly avoids smartphones and social media, which are not the same things. The system's main point, though, is the fact that younger children generally solely require phones for calling a friend or relative and limited texting. The best telephone for tweens and younger is a basic voice telephone, a screen-less Republic Wireless Relay, or a 100 % pure monitoring device like the Lapa2. The instant you try to advance to a mobile phone, do not waste a lot of money. Children and teenagers aren't responsible. Which is part of what makes them children. They are going to lose mobile phones, drop mobile phones, soak mobile phones, and damage cellphones. Realize it will eventually happen. There is a good quantity of sound cellphones in the $300 to $500 collection that are more or less brand-new, secure editions of the operating systems, aren't annoying to use, and don't seem entirely not cool. There are also some decent ones under $200. We are not going to get into the endless dispute, by no means solved, about cellular phone children and teenagers and radiation, but a decent number of couples with children have indicated anxiety to all of us about any of it. The positive news is the fact that radiation concerns only really enter into play when a phone is held directly up to our head for extended periods of time, and young children don't communicate on the telephone with their friends much these days: they will text. Short chats with dad on a regular mobile phone, for basic safety or misc uses, won't injure any individual. For longer talks, buy an affordable wired headset. Regardless of the phone you get, be sure to buy a nice, tough case for this. My little girl enjoys a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in an Otterbox Commuter cellphone case. I didn't imagine how creative my child turn into with the S Smart pen, painting and taking comments continuously. Due to the smart pen, the Samsung Note 4 is not only a mobile phone, it's an limitless diary. Make a trade with your child: In the event they obtain a phone, you are free to start looking at the phone. I check my daughter's phone systematically. She is okay with that; that's the deal. I don't start reading her text messages, however she understands I have that ability.
Tumblr media
When you get your young child a phone, be it a new one or a used one, you'll have to address which service plan it will be on. The least expensive choice is Wireless internet-only, without SIM card. If so, they will only have coverage in known Wi-Fi systems, and won't be equipped to send regular text messages or place traditional phone calls. Your daughter or son can, nevertheless, use iMessage and FaceTime on iPhones, or Skype for texting and phoning to additional Google friends on Android phones. straight from the source Your company might give you a mobile phone on a monthly installment deal. However, if you're using a data bucket with a kid, make certain to place a limit on their phone line to a certain amount of periodic data to make sure that they may not eat up all of yours.

Oppo R7s (Unlocked) Review
Sharengay Trang Tin Tức Độc Đáo VIDEO Oppo R7s (Unlocked) Review
The R7s is an unlocked phone that falls right between Oppo’s 6-inch R7 Plus and 5-inch R7 offerings. At 5.5 inches and $399 (32GB), it competes directly with the Editors’ Choice-winning Moto X Pure Edition and the OnePlus 2. That’s some stiff competition, though the R7s manages to hold its own thanks to a premium build, a high-quality display, and good battery life. But the Moto X Pure Edition and OnePlus 2 are stronger when it comes to performance and software, and remain better bets for the price.
Design, Display, and Features The overall look and feel of the Oppo R7s is vaguely reminiscent of the iPhone 6s Plus. There’s no physical home button, but the glass-clad front and metal unibody design bear a distinct resemblance to Apple’s popular device. The R7s measures 5.98 by 2.97 by 0.28 inches (HWD) and weighs 5.47 ounces. It’s easier to grip and lighter than both the Moto X (6.06 by 3.00 by 0.44; 6.31 ounces) and the OnePlus 2 (5.98 by 2.95 by 0.39 inches; 6.17 ounces).

I tested a gold R7s, but the phone is also available in silver and rose gold options. There’s a power button on the right, along with a slot that can take either two SIM cards or a SIM card and a microSD card. It accommodated our 200GB SanDisk card without any issue. The volume buttons are on the left, with a 3.5mm audio jack up top and a micro USB port and speakers at the bottom.
The R7s boasts a 5.5-inch, 1,920-by-1,080 AMOLED display with bright colors and good viewing angles. Images are crisp at 401 pixels per inch, the same pixel density as the OnePlus 2. The screen gets brighter than the Quad HD display on the Moto X Pure, though it isn’t as sharp (520ppi). The display supports gloved and wet touch input, which are welcome features in inclement weather.
Network Performance and Audio The R7s supports GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), WCDMA (850/900/1900/2100MHz), and LTE (1/2/4/7/17) bands. The device comes unlocked and works on AT&T and T-Mobile. You will get solid connectivity on AT&T due to the presence of Band 17, which allows for better signal penetration indoors. The phone is missing T-Mobile’s Band 12, which helps improve reception in congested cities. I tested the phone on AT&T and saw reliable connectivity and speeds in New York City, though nothing spectacular.

The R7s supports dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. There is no NFC, something the Moto X has, but not the OnePlus 2.
Voice calls sound good, and the phone handles background noise cancellation with ease. The bottom-facing speakers get loud, but lack bass. Wired and Bluetooth audio both sound fine.
Processor, Battery, and Camera The R7s is powered by a midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, which is a step or two below the Snapdragon 808-powered Moto X and Snapdragon 810-powered OnePlus 2. This was confirmed in benchmark testing—the R7s received an AnTuTu score of 37,819, which is significantly less than the near-50,000 results from both the Moto X and OnePlus 2.
See How We Test Cell Phones
Despite the lower benchmark scores, the R7s feels fine in real-life performance, and its 4GB of RAM handles multitasking and app switching with ease. I was able to play games like Asphalt 8, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted without any lag or dropped frames.
Battery life on the R7s is excellent, thanks to a large 3,070mAh cell. The phone managed to last for an impressive 6 hours, 47 minutes in our battery rundown test, which streams full-screen video over LTE at max brightness. By contrast, the OnePlus 2 lasted 5 hours, 19 minutes, while the Moto X lasted 4 hours, 42 minutes. The R7s supports VOOC Flash Charge, which allows you to charge the device up to 90 percent in 50 minutes with the included charger.
The 13-megapixel rear-facing camera is fast and reliable. Autofocus locks on quickly, and auto exposure is able to make rapid adjustments to account for lighting changes. Pictures are clear with true-to-life colors and good detail. Most impressively, motion is relatively free from blur, even when taking multiple shots of a moving object. That’s a notable downside of the Moto X, which often blurs and tends to take softer images despite its higher-resolution sensor. The camera doesn’t do quite as well with low-light shooting, where it suffers from some grain and noise, but that’s a problem that all phone cameras struggle with.

The 8-megapixel selfie camera takes crisp shots in well-lit settings, but is prone to blurriness in low-light conditions. The R7s can also capture 1080p video at 30fps, which isn’t quite as impressive as the OnePlus 2 and the Moto X, which can both shoot 4K.
Software and Conclusions The R7s runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Oppo’s heavily customized Color OS 2.1 UI, drawing more influence from Apple’s iOS than from Google’s Material Design. All of the apps are arranged on the homescreen and there is no app drawer. The settings menus, camera interface, notification drawer, and icons are redesigned look more like Apple, which will likely not please fans of stock Android. Oppo is working on a custom AOSP ROM that will be available for the R7s in 2016. This will allow you to flash it without voiding the warranty, in order to get a stock Android experience.
There are some useful software features, like one-handed mode, which shrinks the screen so things are more easily reachable; and automatic memory cleanup, which closes and optimizes background processes after the phone is asleep for five minutes. There isn’t much bloatware outside of Oppo’s customizations, leaving you with 21.68GB of available storage. Combined with the microSD slot, storage shouldn’t be an issue.
Taken on its own, the Oppo R7s is a solid phablet with a nice build, a crisp display, good performance, long battery life, and a capable camera. But our top picks, the Moto X and the OnePlus 2 offer better combinations of software, hardware, and features. The Moto X has a sharper Quad HD display and a more powerful Snapdragon 808 processor. It also comes with optional Moto Maker customizations, and a mostly pure build of Android. The OnePlus 2, meanwhile, offers a USB-C port, a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 810 processor, and runs OxygenOS, which is a close-to-stock Android experience.

The Doogee X95 Pro is the best unlocked GSM phone under $100. It's great as a burner phone, travel phone, and as a disposable device. But there's one big problem: the pandemic's impact on electronic prices makes it hard to find below $100.
Even so, the Doogee X95 Pro offers best-in-class battery life and hardware under $100. At over $100, there are better devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy A11 or Galaxy A10e.
The Best Phone Under $100 for Battery Life?
Phones under $100 revolve around temporary purposes, like travel or as burners. Both types of use need adequate cellular reception and good battery life.
Most users in this niche aren't looking for a gaming phone and couldn't care less about a high-end camera. Given its audience, this review focuses on cellular reliability and battery endurance.
Hardware Specifications
Weight: 178 grams
Dimensions: 167 x 77.4 x 8.9 mm
Operating System: Android 10
Display: 6.52-inch LCD with 1200 x 540 resolution
RAM: 4 GB
Storage: 32 GB eMMC with expandable Micro-SD card
Cellular bands: B1 (2100), B20 (800), B8 (900), B5 (850), B3 (1800), B7 (2600) on both SIM 1 and 2
Cameras: 13MP rear
CPU: MediaTek Helio A20 quad-core Cortex A53 12 nm
Battery: 4,350mAh lithium-ion
Ports: MicroUSB; 3.5 mm audio jack
Is the Doogee X95 Pro's Hardware Good?
In the under $100 market, the X95 Pro's compares favorably.
The RAM and storage are unheard of in the under $100 smartphone market. Competing phones include 16 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM. But at the $100-120 price range, the RAM provisioning and storage are average.
The X95 Pro's long battery life lies in its parts: an efficient 12 nm processor, large battery, and low-resolution display. Together, these components allow for at least five hours of screen time. Aside from that, there are no hardware features that stand out as either good or bad. For the most part, this is a solid, reliable, low-cost Android smartphone.
What's the Competition Around $100?
For less than $100, no other unlocked phones can challenge the X95 Pro. But the problem is that the X95 Pro rarely sells anymore for its original launch price of $60. But even so, thanks to the pandemic's impact on prices, few models on Amazon offer equal value. It currently retails most places for $120, though Banggood has it listed for $80.
A few phones that do beat out the X95 Pro include the Samsung Galaxy A10e and the Samsung Galaxy A11. But all told, these are more expensive than the X95 Pro. Below $100, it's a low-cost king.
Wireless
Doogee trimmed off a lot of features that you'd find in more expensive phones.  The X95 Pro includes a Bluetooth 5.0 chip, but it sacrifices Wi-Fi 5 by using dual-band 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4) wireless instead.
Its best feature is Voice-Over-Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) technology.
VoWiFi Makes a Difference

VoWiFi is an essential modern smartphone technology for the prepaid and low-cost market. It's so useful that its presence makes or breaks a low-cost smartphone. Unfortunately, budget manufacturers often don't use it out of sheer laziness.
For those who don't know, VoWiFi phones can make and receive cell calls using a Wi-Fi network. In other words, you don't need a cellular signal to make calls or send texts.
VoWiFi functions without issue on the Doogee X95 Pro. I set it up by performing the following actions:
Go to Settings > Network & Internet
Under Mobile Network, choose your provider
Choose Wi-Fi Calling
Turn Wi-Fi Calling on
After enabling Wi-Fi Calling, you'll receive calls through your Wi-Fi network. That means calls and SMS will work, even without cellular reception.
Poor-Quality Wi-Fi Reception

Image 2 of 2
One of the worst features of the X95 Pro is its network wireless connectivity quality. I found the Wi-Fi failing near the access point. It seems that Wireless-N (Wi-Fi 4) which lacks Beamforming, causes the issue. Poor Wi-Fi quality dampens the utility of VoWiFi, as unstable networks drop calls.
While on the second level of my house, I received around -55 dBi. My other budget phone managed -32 dBi.
Supported Bands and Cellular Modem Reception
Its cellular bands make the X95 Pro compatible with North American and European markets. Within the United States, the X95 Pro works on T-Mobile, AT&T, and GSM prepaid carriers. Unfortunately, in the US, the X95 Pro's only functioning 4G cellular band is B5 (850MHz). In most regions, you'll get spotty 3G data speeds. At best, you might see 4G data speeds on AT&T.
The X95 Pro's 900/1800MHz compatibility is better suited for Europe than the Americas. Unfortunately, the phone doesn't work with the 1900MHz band and so it has diminished US 4G coverage.
Reception on Band 5

The cellular modem antenna gets an average of -75 dBm on band 5 (850MHz). For comparison, a more expensive phone using the same SIM card gets the same reception. In other words, for the money, the cellular reception is as good as more expensive devices. Yet the six bands are only adequate for North and South America. It's the B2 compatibility that makes the phone good for European markets.
As such, the X95 Pro should work as a travel phone through most of the Americas, India, and China. Its best usage is in Europe, Australia, and much of Asia.
Battery Life
With a 4,350mAh-sized battery, at 100% charge, the X95 Pro gets:
Five hours of screen-on time
Two+ days of idle
18-hours of mixed usage
For areas in which cellular coverage is poor, battery life could fall far shorter. It also uses an app-killer called Duraspeed, which auto-kills apps. While it does free up resources, I've found that it only improves system speed when it shuts off malfunctioning apps. Otherwise, Duraspeed turns off the apps you need, sometimes causing data loss.
Screen Quality
Tumblr media
The 6.52-inch LCD screen is large, but runs at only HD resolution. There's nothing horrible about it. The brightness scales well, and the colors are well represented.
Touchscreen Calibration Issue
The X95 Pro's touchscreen needs calibration. The issue isn't bad and the majority of users won't likely notice them unless they're playing mobile games. But again, the X95 Pro isn't designed for gamers.
The touchscreen issue also impacts typing accuracy.
The Camera Is Mediocre
Tumblr media
The camera on the Doogee X95 Pro is mediocre at best. While it takes 13MP resolution pictures, in poorer lighting its photography looks terrible. The camera takes decent pictures in bright light. Low-light conditions are the bane of this phone, thanks to an ISO that leaps up into the stratosphere.
Poor Low-Light Photograph

Like all smartphone cameras, photos look good with sufficient lighting. Unfortunately, the low-light photos are poor, even for a budget-class camera.
Android 10 on the Doogee X95 Pro
The Doogee X95 Pro uses Android 10 with a drawer-less launcher. It sports few modifications and runs clean and quick.
Unfortunately, Doogee isn't an official Google partner and their devices lack official certification. In other words, the X95 Pro could suffer from security and privacy issues.
Additionally, Doogee has produced phones with adware. But my scans did not reveal their presence on the X95 Pro.
Does Doogee Install Malware?
I ran five different malware scans and came up negative for malware infections. That doesn't mean the phone is completely clean.
Worst of all, phones with hacked-on Google Play can suffer issues after a while. Sometimes Google blocks their services on unlicensed devices. In which case, you will lose access to the Play Store.
No Firmware Updates Likely
Doogee also doesn't often update its firmware, either for security updates or for bug fixes. So what you see is what you get. While Doogee did push out a single firmware update in May, I wouldn't expect additional software refinements.

Doogee's Android Customization
Like many Chinese phones, the X95 Pro offers a few modifications, including a facial recognition app rather than a fingerprint scanner. There's nothing special about the app, other than that it works exactly how facial recognition apps on Android need to work. Configuring your facial profile allows touch-free login.
Overall, Doogee's Android customizations are good and their implementation of Android 10 is excellent.
Performance
Budget phones under $100 don't offer sparkling performance. Which is why if you can find one for under $100, the X95 Pro is among the most performant of handsets. But above $100, it loses a lot of luster.
For gaming, the X95 Pro runs modern games with occasional stutter and lag. I'm not sure whether the performance issues are because of the cheap flash storage or because of the slower processor. But in any event, don't buy the X95 Pro if you want to use it for gaming. However, it can play casual games without a problem.
Helio A20 MT6761D System-on-a-Chip
Most consumers looking for a low-cost burner don't care about performance. They want reliable screen-on time. As such, the X95 Pro's MediaTek Helio A20 MT6761D processor trades raw performance for battery life. It's similar to the Snapdragon 450 inside the Samsung Galaxy A11, although it's inferior to the heterogeneous processor-based Exynos 7884 in the Galaxy A10e.
The A20 Helio processor wasn't fast when it debuted in 2020. Rather than offering lighting-fast speeds, the Helio A20 provides power efficiency at a low cost. Most important: it includes modern 12-nanometer technology along with the efficient Arm Cortex-A53 architecture. It's as battery-friendly as it gets in the sub-$100 space. There are newer architectures with more advanced tech, but those cost more than $100.
32 GB of Storage and 4 GB of RAM on a Cheap Phone?
The 32 GB of onboard storage, lavish at the $60 price point but a standard size at $120, is unimpressive. The performance of the NAND flash memory isn't horrific, but it's not good either:
Sequential read speed: 273.55 MB/s
Sequential write speed: 53.81 MB/s
Random read speed: 21 MB/s
Random write: 9.45 MB/s
The mediocre read-write speeds mean below average NAND memory quality. You will see similar performance numbers for other cheap phones. Although the speed isn't terrible, it's not great. But keep in mind that most budget phones offer similar read-write performance.
Repairability
The X95 Pro isn't user-serviceable, although it's possible to replace the battery. You only need a spudger, a blow-dryer or heat gun, and (optionally) two suction cups. I should note that we reviewed Doogee's S95 repairable, low-cost, modular phone.
The Cheapest Phone You Should Buy: Doogee X95 Pro
The Doogee X95 Pro is the cheapest smartphone worth buying, provided you can find it for less than $100. But while it crushes its competition below $100 in terms of battery life, its cellular reliability is average in North America and it has terrible Wi-Fi reception.
As such, the phone is good as a temporary burner and travel phone but a poor candidate as a daily-use device. However, if you notice a Black Friday deal come September, this is an easy purchase to make. If you can't wait, we've written on the best budget smartphones.
For those in North America, check whether your cellular provider covers your area with the B5 (850MHz) spectrum before buying it.

7 Best Samsung Phones Of 2017
There are something like one million Android phones for every person on the planet right now (plus or minus one). TracfoneReviewer is here to help with this list of Android devices that includes a quick comparison of each phone, and links to our full reviews. We will guide you through the hottest mobile phones of the year to save you time when you go to your local phone shop. The best bit is that these rising Chinese brands produce many cheap phones at near cost prices so as to gain more market share and get recognized. Equipped with features like 5 inch screens that are great for watching videos or playing games, high-performance 1GB and 2GB RAMs, dual SIM support and high res cameras for the avid photographer, Samsung smartphones are designed to be more than just your average mobile phone. 6. QWERTY Keyboard- Along with many of the same great features available on our smartphones, QWERTY devices also feature slide-out keyboards for those who prefer a more tactile experience. The newest addition to India's Android One lineup is Lava's Pixel V1 , and it's a significant step up from its low-end predecessors in terms of hardware. This list will provide you all Android phones that are on sale in India. The Core Prime was released with two other Samsung Galaxy devices, the S5 and E5 (listed below) and is the cheapest of the three, while still delivering some great features. Everything we love about the Galaxy S8 is available here as Samsung has decided to only really changed the sizes of the screens rather than fiddling with the spec inside the device. Distinct in its own approach, Lyf Mobile phones are modeled and named on the different forces of nature. There's one key way in which Android is massively different from its Apple-branded smartphone competition - the number of phones out there running Google's hot mobile OS. Until that day we have smartphones. So, say goodbye to flying to HongKong and getting yourself a new updates on made in India mobile phones will be updated as and when product launches, rumors, or leaks on Geekbench happen. https://drasticds-emulatorapk.com/ The Huawei Glory is a touchscreen smartphone with Android 4.0 and a 3.5" screen available from Tracfone since 2013. If you want a Pixel phone with a larger battery and can live with a mediocre display, we'd recommend going for the Pixel 2 XL—you'll be very happy. The company also has a bug bounty program for its devices, but they don't disclose how much they're willing to pay when a programmer finds a security flaw in their software. If you have finalized any of the devices from the above list, we suggest you head over to BestPriceOn for latest price and availability on various online stores. Marshmallow too entered the market with a similar share but is now running on 31.2% of all Android devices. Its excellent design, powerful octa-core processor with 4GB RAM, massive 5300mAH battery, fingerprint sensor, Gorilla glass protection and great camera makes it a good worthy option to buy. The Tecno Camon C10 -also known Tecno Camon CX is the latest selfie smartphone from the Chinese mobile phone vendor, it accompanied by a lower version; Tecno Camon CX Air Tecno also launched a Manchester City Limited Edition of the device to honor their partnership with the English club. So if you're planning to buy a Mi mobile, then you can choose from Redmi Note 4, Redmi 3s , Redmi 3s prime , M i max , redmi note3 , Mi5 , Mi4 and Mi4i Almost all of these smartphones come in different styles and have advanced features that cater to the growing demands of the modern world. Moreover, I observe Gionee smartphones are rather too costly. You can also create, save and share lists (by tapping the list icon), drawings (by tapping the pen icon), audio recordings (by tapping the microphone icon) and photos (by tapping the camera icon) in the options menu. If you want to have a bit lighter phone and less bulky than Samsung Galaxy S5 active, you might to buy a regular Samsung Galaxy S5. This phone is very similar to the LG Ultimate 2, which is a great device, but the Power actually has a few upgrades over the Ultimate. You can find Android phones with stated screen sizes from 4.6 up to 6-plus inches. No LG phones again!! These Nexus devices are always first ones to receive any major Android update. Huawei's EMUI, one of the most controversial Android overlays, is much better to use than with previous smartphones, and offers machine learning algorithms that should speed up your phone the more you use it. Even the price is competitive at £499. The Galaxy S8 tops the charts in terms of performance and display quality, and isn't far off in terms of battery life and camera. A2 is leading the road of next-generation smartphone devices. The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are the latest flagship smartphones to appear from the Chinese manufacturer, with the P10 Plus being our favourite of the two. The SRT is definitely one of the Indian mobile brands that have designed, developed, and manufactured their phones in India and sold it to not just India, but also to those around the world. Most smartphones, even low cost options, are using closer to 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. Though its software can be a little overwhelming, you can't argue that Samsung continues to pack in hundreds of features to a single phone, making sure there's something in here for everyone's needs. It sold lot of Mi3 devices in association with India's biggest e-retailer Flipkart and was the first one to start the online flash sale trend. In February 2015, it added Indonesia to the list, and also confirmed the launch of another three Android One smartphones Later in the same month, Google confirmed the Philippines would get its first Android One smartphones. It's bezel heavy design won't exactly dazzle, but this is a phone you can comfortably use one-handed, with a crisp, clear full HD display and stock Android 8 Oreo at your fingertips. Or connect your Android phone to a compatible vehicle, and use Android Auto right on your car display. Higher priced phones may also have extra features such as an HDMI port or GPS or fingerprint scanners. Alongside, while you may still be using a Full HD television at home, the screen resolution on top tier smartphones has been moved to 2K, and in some cases, even 4K. The camera quality has also improved massively, and is steadily progressing with each new smartphone. If you are looking to get yourself a new smartphone then this is one make in India mobiles you should not miss considering. With top quality specs, but low price tags you will see that our mobile phones are great bargains. The least surprising feature here is the excellent camera, which surpasses the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8. It's a 12-megapixel sensor, with OIS, which captures stunning snaps in any light. Samsung is one of the most popular smartphone brands in Pakistan. Each of the phones have different features, pro's and con's, that can be hard to evaluate fully. The list will be updated accordingly as new phones make their way in to the Android market so you can conveniently bookmark this page to always check back for update. Unlike the utilitarian minimalism of the Google Pixel, the Galaxy S8 is the flashiest, most head-turning phone you'll ever use. With Dual rear cameras, high-speed RAM, and adequate storage, this is one of those Indian mobile companies that have mastered the art of creating masterpieces. Read on for what to look for when buying, as well as our top picks for Android phones. Android phones have a notorious history of not being updated to the latest software if they are more than a year old. Except for expendable memory, this device, regarding its all other specifications, has everything that a high-end mobile phone can have. We've seen phones drop below the $100 mark, but you'll typically want to spend more for a higher quality device. Google's Pixel phones have been selling very well for a first iteration, to the point where Google has been unable to keep the devices in stock after underestimating demand. Most of the users are interested in Mobile Phones Prices in Pakistan, as they want to see which device fits their budget perfectly. Additionally, local networks selling the phones will offer special deals to lessen the cost of installing over-the-air updates and downloading apps from Google Play. Tecno Camon C9 is a successor to the popular Camon C8 , the device features major improvements on the camera and the overall specifications of its predecessor. Judging by public perception after the San Bernardino shooting investigation where Apple refused to create a backdoor for the FBI, as well as all of the above positives, you'd think the iPhone clearly outranks all Android devices in terms of security. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is a great phone, even at a year old. The Galaxy Note 8 retakes the throne as the ultimate Android phone for now, but some intense competition is just over the horizon. Many of our phones come loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Pound for pound, the best Android devices always outstrip iPhones when it comes to raw specs and high-end capabilites; advanced camera optics, super-fast processors pushing the boundaries of performance, and massive crystal clear display panels (even those with bendy bits for that extra stylish touch).

*:・゚✧inactivity✧*:・゚ {a long-ish post}
here’s to the fam who care about my “problems”...
okay i know how bad i am at staying up to date in this community anyways and i’ll get round to telling you why in a sec. but first allow me to rant about something that is completely stupid.
so a little while ago i was working really hard on my next followers gift { ty and love all 5,184 of you btw }. and there was this one piece of clothing in it that i particularly liked, and thought you guys would too. i made the preview look uber nice and i was hyped to release it when everything else was done. i’m not gonna say what it was for reasons that you’ll understand in a sec. so i stopped working on this set of stuff for a tiny bit because i was feeling unmotivated anyways. and upon browsing some new cc find tumblrs { because i don’t already have enough goddamn cc } there it was. the same fricking piece of cc that some cute little simblr had made. it looked EXACTLY like mine. same design, same mesh. fucking god dAmMIT. i mean obviously i can’t blame them, they weren’t to know, it’s just the worst coincidence ever to have ever happened { drama-queen, uh yes }. it wasn’t a hard thing to make per say, it’s just so annoying that i can’t upload it as part of the gift now aghhhh. even the same little edited logo that i chose to put on it. poop. so overall this made me SO angry { not at that simblr of course, at myself for some reason }. and that’s why i haven’t posted the gift, or anything more recently.
onto my bigger situation with the game and my current setup:
i have a laptop. and no shade to laptops that perform excellently with games like the sims 4 and such. but mine? shocking. it can do cas, sorta. but it’s getting worse. to make things better, my sister wanted to try and play the game to see if it’s something she wanted to purchase for herself. so i logged in to origin on her *:・゚✧new pc*:・゚✧ and let her download the game to test. i was in awe. it was SO smooth guys. and she was getting pissed off when she’d ask me questions and i’d just be sat there like drooling at the screen. never in all the time that i’ve owned the game have felt so in love with it’s sheer beauty. IN GAME. the lighting reflection of the windows oh my god. ultra settings, guys, ultra. i actually copied my main save and all my cc to it for a little while just to see, and it was just so pretty, and i loved it. getting to the end my long winded story here, i’m finding it really difficult to stay patient with my laptops ability to run the game. so for the time being, i’ve uninstalled it. that’s not to say i wan’t relapse and re-install it, but just for now; i’m not feeling it.
as for what i’ll be doing, i’m currently downloading minecraft as i haven’t played it in a very long time and i’m kinda digging the thought of it. i might post screenshots and keep you up to date with my game if you’d like?
i’m also currently kind of in the process of saving up for a proper gaming pc. it has been reccomended to me to maybe ask for donations or to monetise my downloads which idk? i mean i haven’t thus far and, from personal experience, i don’t like ad-fly when i try to download others content, so i don’t do it to my own. {no disrespect to those who do use ad-fly; it’s just not my thing} but i suppose me getting closer to a new pc, faster, would mean MUCH more content, and to a far better standard.
is a donate button too much? i like the idea of a non-compulsory support feature to my simblr but i don’t even know if what i do is enough? or if anyone would donate? please let me know, leave a reply or message me { i won’t make your thoughts public if you don’t want me to }
thankyou for reading this super long post, sorry if it’s boring, love ya guys xxx

The start of Western Illinois’ NCAA tournament run in Year 22, continued
Tumblr media
The Leathernecks enter the NCAA tournament as a No. 11 seed with an impossibly tough draw.
Welcome back to our simulated dynasty with the Western Illinois Leathernecks in College Hoops 2K8. You can find a full explanation of this project + spoiler-free links to previous seasons here. Check out the introduction to this series from early April for full context. As a reminder, we simulate every game in this series and only control the recruiting and coaching strategies.
We pick up with the Leathernecks in the first round of the 2029 NCAA tournament, but first here’s a recap of everything that’s happened so far this season.
Coming off a disappointing loss in the round of 32 to No. 1 seed Xavier last season, the Leathernecks enter the new year ranked No. 19 in the preseason polls. We have three new starters.
We went 6-5 in the non-conference schedule before sweeping the Summit League and winning the conference tournament once again. We earned a No. 11 seed to the NCAA tournament, entering at 27-5 overall.
We recruited for one scholarship, but didn’t land anyone yet.
Read: Western Illinois, Year 22, 2028-2029
Here’s a look at our roster heading into the NCAA tournament:
Tumblr media
No one can doubt the overall talent level of this roster. We’re rated as a 100 overall for a reason — we have a great combination of experienced top-end talent plus depth. It is fair to wonder who are takeover scorer is going to be, though.
I have full confidence in Kevin Brazzle, the 7’2 junior center and projected top pick in the NBA draft. He’s put up numbers all year and figures to give a consistent scorer and rebounder inside. Who steps up on the perimeter is a better question. Wilbur Ager, our lone senior, has had a good career thus far, but he’s never had to be the man in the shadow of Allen Cunningham and others. Now we need him to play like a star. Does Ager have a Wilky Henry-like run in him? The spotlight is also waiting for Mathew Alloway, now a junior and a starter every year he’s been eligible. Alloway has the size (6’7), he has the shooting, and he brings it defensively. We’ve had him circled as a future star for years. The future is here.
Point guard Jamie Burke and power forward L.F. Neal, both first-year starters as juniors, are less accomplished but still talented. Our bench has a 300-pound center in Artie Snipes, a 6’10 wing in Jitim Dupree, and our best three-point shooter in 6-foot guard Koko Reeves. We’re good enough to lean on a star-by-committee approach, but someone is going to have to step up against an incredibly formidable UConn team.
The Huskies have been killer throughout this sim, one of only four programs to win two titles (the others: Louisville, Maryland, UCLA) while we have three. UConn knocked us out in the Elite Eight back in Year 18. They have a loaded roster once again. Both teams enter the game rated as a 100 overall:
Tumblr media
Maryland is likely waiting in the round of 32 and top-seed Xavier is likely waiting in the Sweet 16. Our Leathernecks are used to getting shafted by the committee, and it happened in a major way this year. This might be our toughest draw ever.
We watched this game on Twitch together on Sunday night. As always, I’m not controlling Western Illinois during the game, we’re watching a simulated game. Unfortunately the video transfer to YouTube is taking forever and still isn’t fully uploaded even after 12+ hours. I’ll add videos in this post when it’s complete.
Let’s go!

Win, 103-89! Second half team!
This was getting dark for a minute there. Led by my long-lost relative Donny O’Donnell (36 points), UConn opened up a double digit lead late in the first half. That’s when I switched us into a 1-2-1-1 zone full court press defense. We started forcing turnovers, which led to easy offense, which led to us taking control of the game. We dropped 65 damn points in the second half, which is just amazing.

I loved what I saw out of Alloway, finishing with 19 points on 3-of-3 shooting from three-point range. Ager struggled to shoot the ball from the outside (1-of-5 from three) but still found a way score 17 points and also had four steals.
twitch_clip
Our front court gave us a great complement next to our guards. Neal played the game of his life: 20 points, 11 rebounds, and five stocks. He’s had a quiet career so far but we don’t win that game without him. Brazzle continues to be the picture of consistency by going off for another fat double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds.
Less good: point guard Jamie Burke, who finished with eight turnovers turnovers and 0-of-4 shooting from three.
We absolutely would have lost this game without the switch to a full court press defense. The final scoreboard says we won by 14, but man does it feel like that’s a game we easily could have lost. Even still, it feels great to beat UConn in the tournament. Unfortunately, it isn’t getting any easier from here.
Our next opponent in the next our is No. 3 seed Maryland, who beat No. 14 Samford in their opening game.
No. 11 seed Western Illinois vs. No. 3 seed Maryland, round of 32, 2029 NCAA tournament
Maryland has been one of the better programs in the country throughout this sim. Like UConn, the Terps have two national championships while consistently being a factor late in the tournament.
Maryland enters the game as a 100 overall — the same rating as us. Here’s a look at their roster:
Tumblr media
You can see that Maryland doesn’t have a ton of size, with no one taller than 6’7 listed on the first page of the roster. In a lot of ways, this Terps roster reminds me of the Xavier team that knocked us out in the round of 32 last year: lots of dynamic guards and wings who can knock down shots. Like us, they have six players rated in the 90s.
Let’s cut down on the turnovers, defend the three-point line, and feed Brazzle inside when we have the ball. We’re going to need to play better than we did against UConn to win this game.
We watched this game on Twitch on Sunday night. Once again: it’s a simulated game; I’m not controlling Western Illinois on the court.
This group knows the pain of losing in the round of 32 because it happened to us last year. A win here and we likely get a rematch against Xavier, who knocked us out last season. We want a rematch. Let’s go!

Win, 95-91! We juuust had enough to hang on there in the second half.
We were in control for most of that game and I was feeling pretty good about it. We took a nine-point lead into the half on a Wilbur Ager tip-in. We pushed that lead to 16 points early in the second half, but credit Maryland for refusing to go away. The Terps went on a run in the last five minutes and hit a three-pointer with 17.5 seconds left to make it a three-point game. It was a two-point game with 4.5 seconds left when Jamie Burke missed the front end of a 1-and-1 at the foul line. Fortunately, Alloway grabbed the offensive rebound and iced the win at the line.
While I didn’t switch to a full court press defense in this one, we actually had more steals (12) than we did vs. UConn (10). I thought our defense set the tone once again. It had to be that way considering we couldn’t get a good look from behind the arc all night. Maryland hit 10 more three-pointers than us — 13 to three — but we were able to stay alive by attempting three times as many free throws. It wasn’t a pretty offensive performance for us, but it was enough to get the win.
Brazzle was a monster and really does feel like the trump card during this tournament run. It is so nice to have a 7’2 center we can consistently go to when we need a bucket. He was excellent to finish with 27 points and 14 rebounds on 13-of-20 shooting from the field. That performances locks him in as a top-five center in program history, I think. We lose without him because no one really got going.

Alloway, Ager, and Neal were all solid but unspectacular. Maryland’s star wing Ross Pasco ran all over us, going off for 33 points on seven made threes. That’s two wings putting up massive individual scoring games on us so far. Something to monitor.
Ager still made big plays when we needed him to.

I am officially worried about Burke at this point. We’ve had so many subpar point guards over the years and there’s no way to really know until you see them out there. Burke was a very solid four-star recruit at No. 71 overall in his class — the type of player we’d take every time. He has succumb to the same issues as Armien Amous and Angel Keita before him though: too many turnover. After eight turnovers against UConn, he had five or six this game. We need to take better care of the ball.
As we sim to the next week, we have some shocking news: No. 7 seed Richmond stunned top-seeded Xavier in the round of 32! That means we face the Spiders with an Elite Eight trip on the line!
No. 11 Western Illinois vs. No. 7 Richmond, Sweet 16, 2029 NCAA tournament
Every deep NCAA tournament run requires at least a little bit of luck, and there’s no doubt we got it in a big way with this matchup. Xavier appeared to have the most players rated in the 90s — seven — of any team in the tournament this year. They also demolished us on this stage last year. I am feeling so much more confident against Richmond.
How the hell did the Spiders beat Xavier? Xavier was a 100 overall and Richmond is a 91 overall. Here’s a look at Richmond’s roster, with only one player rated in the 90s.
Tumblr media
This is a game we should win, but I’m sure Xavier thought that, too. One win away from the Elite Eight, let’s get it.
We also watched this game on Twitch on Sunday night, the first time we’ve ever streamed three games on the same night. Why stop now? Standard disclaimer goes here: I’m not controlling WIU, we’re watching a simulated game.
Let’s go!

Win, 136-71. Absolute domination out of our ‘Necks. We’re going to the Elite Eight!
This was a beatdown from the opening tip. We got out to a 10-point lead in the first seven minutes and never looked back. We were up 30 by halftime and had already pulled our starters.
First things first: shout-out to our embattled point guard Jamie Burke. who finished with an exquisite line of 12 points, 11 assists, zero turnovers. He also hit 4-of-6 shots from three-point range. Exactly what we want out of our point guards. Just a textbook great PG performance.

Ager was also awesome to finish with 19 points. He was super aggressive from the jump and it looked like he knew no one on Richmond could match his physicality. That was tight. Alloway also played an efficient and wonderful game with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, all in the first half I think.
How about our defense? We had 17 steals, a new high for this tournament run. Unreal.
Looking back through the records, that’s our biggest win ever. 65-point win! The bench also beat Richmond by 30 in the second half. Just ridiculous.
I thought the future of the program was on full display as the bench got some run with a big lead. Wow, were they great. Jitim Dupre: 22 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, three makes from deep. Edwin Wolfe led us in scoring!?! I never would have guessed. The former five-star JUCO recruit is now a RS sophomore and rated an 80 overall. That’s disappointing by our standards, but he played so much better than his ratings in this game. Wolfe finished with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and 6-of-12 shooting from three.

Artie Snipes also deserves a shout-out with 20 points off the bench. He’ll be our starting center once Brazzle bounces to the draft after this year and it feels like we won’t be losing much at center with him in the lineup.
That sets up a game vs. No. 8 seed Tennessee. The Vols stunned No. 1 seed Stanford in the round of 32 and then took out defending national champs BYU in the Sweet 16 to force their way into the Elite Eight. If you had this game on your bracket, more power to you.
No. 11 seed Western Illinois vs. No. 8 seed Tennessee, Elite Eight, 2029 NCAA tournament
The Elite Eight has been a nightmare round for us in the past — most memorably when we saw three straight seasons end in this round from Year 16, Year 17, and Year 18. The allure of the Final Four is so strong that guys start to get tense. You can’t really blame them, but we need to be better today.
Tennessee looks solid but not overwhelming from a talent perspective. I think this is the first time we’ve ever played them? Here’s a look at the Vols’ roster:
Tumblr media
Guess what? We playing this game out too. A four-game stream. Win or lose, this will be our last game of the night.
I’m not controlling WIU, but you know that by now.
Final Four on the line. Let’s goOoOoOoO!

Win, 100-92! We’re going to the Final Four for the fifth time in program history, and we will be looking for our fourth national title once we get there.
Ohhhhh my gosh, that was close. The second half felt as tense as any game we’ve ever played in this dynasty. Tennessee refused to go away, hitting threes, getting and-ones, forcing steals — they really made us work for it. Shot of the night goes to our senior, Wilbur Ager. With our Leathernecks up two points with 18 seconds left and about five seconds separating the shot clock from the game clock, Ager fired a catch-and-shoot three-pointer that was cash to seal the win.
I was so nervous when he shot this, and elated when it went in.
twitch_clip
What a shot. If he misses, the Vols have the ball and a chance to win the game on the last possession. Instead, it goes in, Ager is the hero, and we advance to the Final Four. Wow.
I felt like Nick Nurse in this game: I was riding my starters until the very end. All of them were excellent. Burke went all 40 minutes and only scored one point, but he finished with 13 assists and limited his turnovers. Alloway played like a flat-out star with 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting. Ager hit a very nice 6-of-9 shots from deep. Brazzle had another ridiculous double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds.
L.F. Neal also made two super tough field goals in crunch-time to help seal the win:
twitch_clip
Unreal. I never thought this team would make the Final Four, not after losing three starters and potentially the GOAT Leatherneck in Allen Cunningham. I thought our tournament draw was far too difficult for a run like this. I’m so happy I was wrong.
We’ve been to the Final Four four other times. Three times we won the national title. Let’s go back banner No. 4.
Our opponent in the Final Four is No. 1 seed George Washington. GW has a created player at center in former bracket contest runner-up Steven Frye. We made Frye as a three-star recruit back in the day but he’s really developed into a great player. Frye vs. Brazzle will be a signature matchup inside. GW is rated as a 98 overall, so this won’t be easy.
We’re going to stream this game on Wednesday, September 16 at 8:30 p.m. ET on Twitch. Here’s how you can watch the game:
