inner mono-dialogue
Tumblr media
the more time i spend being davepeta with you the more i realize almost every single problem in my life was caused by my obsession with being this unfeeling cool dude
but youre cool already
like in the way that actually matters
youre chill and friendly and just nice and thats all there is to it
youre shamelessly yourself even if everybody around you is a jackass and gives you shit for it
youre similar to jade and john in that way
i really envied that about them
but its different actually being at the control panel and feeling where that earnesty comes from
it makes me wanna match your energy and keep that pawsitivity ball rolling even if it ends up being weird or cringe or whatever
fuck man do you know how exhausting it is building yourself social hoops to leap through all the time and when you trip up even once its suddenly the end of the world
what kinda dumbass does that its like dealing with life in hard mode for no reward
fuck that noise
i like your way better
Nepeta's heart burns and shines inside you.
:33 < thank you :))
:33 < but you know
:33 < i dont think doing things your way is unrewarding
:33 < its like
:33 < a shield!
Dave scrunches up with discomfort.
X33 < i dont mean that in an insulting way!
:33 < the fact is that shields are just purractical sometimes
:33 < it doesnt make you cowardly to hide behind one
:33 < in the same way that it isnt cowardly for a predator to hide in the bushes when stalking prey
:33 < its just a way to make sure you dont get hurt!
:33 < purrsonally i found shields too cumbersome
X33 < im a hunter after all!
:33 < and i guess maybe the same goes for my personality
:33 < its not really that im purrticularly brave for being myself
:33 < i just didnt have a say in the matter in the furst place!
:33 < honestly if i had a choice i would have loved to be more like you dave
:33 < you can befriend people almost effortlessly
:33 < and its beclaws youre also just a nice person
Dave recoils in surprise, but Nepeta passionately pushes forward.
:33 < fur real! i f33l it inside you! theres a really strong sense of empathy there
:33 < its just like mine! just smarter, and a bit more analytical
:33 < whenever we encounter someone mew, its like i f33l you lock onto them, and you gather so many insights into their purrsonality without even trying
:33 < and you can use that to bond with others without giving every part of you away
:33 < which unfortunately
:(( < i never really knew how to do
Nepeta sours with unpleasant feelings. Your brows scrunch together with both pain and sympathy.
Nepeta has a big and complex heart. She tried her best to keep it from spilling over, but it always did in the end. And it was embarrassing. It was embarrassing when your friends dismissed your hobbies or focused in on your strange quirks. It was embarrassing when they revealed they knew about your crush on Karkat that you'd worked so hard to hide. And it hurt whenever he would say mean things about you. He and anyone else.
But you always puffed out your chest and sucked it up. You stuck to your guns no matter what. Because it was fun! The things you liked, the people you liked, were fun, and they made you feel good. Why couldn't anyone else see that? And why did it seem like they never gave a single thought to who you were?
You curl in on yourself. Your chest hurts. You suddenly really miss Equius.
And you miss Rose. You miss Jade. You miss John and Karkat and Aradia and Tavros and Terezi and all the others. You miss all the people you can go outside and see whenever you wish, and you miss all the people that you have no hope of ever seeing again. You feel the choral echo of all the times you've ever felt this need for comfort, this thrumming pain searing hot inside you, like hunger wracking your stomach.
You clench your teeth. You remember being on your bed, curled in blankets, not having eaten a proper meal in days. You remember holding your stomach and sneaking to the kitchen, turning your shoulder at every step to look fearfully behind you, only for your fingers to falter hopelessly on the handle of the refrigerator, knowing there was nothing for you inside.
You shake with anger. You know that feeling. The feeling of being chased by something much bigger than you, a hulking silhouette of menacing strength following your scent through the thicket. You'd clutched a beast carcass to your chest, barely breathing as you stalked clumsily through the trees, performance wavering from exhaustion and hunger.
You'd almost died. You'd almost died often. And then after escaping death so many times, it one day claimed you. Casually. Unflinchingly. And the world beat on without you, leaving you stunned by your own insignificance. You'd looked out onto every preceding moment of your life, wondering if there was anything to truly be proud of in the face of your friends accomplishing all these fantastical things. You'd felt lonely before, but after that, you were truly walled off from every single person you knew.
And now, despite everything, you're alive again. Twofold, together with someone.
A warmth coats the ache inside your body. The two parts of you swirl together, feeling and tasting each other, trying to understand themselves.
It feels like a hug.

hiiii i absolutely LOOOVVVEEEEE your bully soap i want to eat him grahhh
do you have any thoughts/hcs for bully gaz/ghost???
i dont think we can call john price (and maybe ghost too) a bully bcs its not fitting due to their ranking/age so i will just say abuse of authority
love youuuuu, hope you have a good dayyy
love u too, i hope u have an amazing day anon
cw: bullying/harassment and whatever comes with it, sexual harassment, mentions/hints of violence, dead dove do not eat, gn!reader
okay so. Gaz is a more subtle bully imo?? like where soap will go full out he doesn't. more the type to go from a distance, making you feel anxious and having a sense of fear well up in you whenever he's close - even if he never really did anything genuinely bad to you. yet. whispers to his friends, chuckles, judgy looks, the type of highscool bully that calls you over to act friendly with you, forcing an arm around your shoulder and tries to talk to you while his friends laugh at whatever answer you give. he wants to embarrass you, humiliate you in a mental aspect instead of physical. but hes definitely not above pushing you around a bit, or grabbing you a little too harshly so you stay with him. he's definitely forced his tongue down your throat too (he laughed at how fucking helpless and taken aback you were).
ghost isnt quite what youd call a bully, he's a step further even. "only i can bully them" typa thing (the boys are usually an exception). will stare you down until you get so uncomfortable you leave, just to follow you and corner you, feeling you up. either doesn't talk at all - he knows he's intimidating without words. big arms crossed as he makes you stumble against the wall, begging softly to just let you go your way, but he just states you down. puts an arm against the wall to cage you, silent judging is all you get. only when someone else comes along he roughly pushes you on your way, glaring like you just did something to him. you don't even wanna know what happens if he ever gets his hands on you long enough.
now captain price isn't a bully. he's too old for that, it's too immature for him (he just abuses his position). however, LT. Price is a different story. was bullied himself when he first joined, got so desperate to move up the food chain that he decided someone else had to suffer in favour of him. it did work, suddenly he wasn't bullied anymore, he became a bully. definitely very physical. the worst was when he was a Sergeant, he'd regularly beat people up - and then you came along. shy, quiet, loner. how could he not want to absolutely bruise your pretty skin?

I think the best show that encapsulates this for me is Amphibia
Tumblr media
A little bit ago i learned that apparently a lot of people skip through Amphibia in favor of shows like The Owl House or Gravity Falls, which surprised me at first considering how tightly knit the fanbases for these shows are, but in all fairness, it is a gauntlet to get through. Its a little over double the length of The Owl House and Gravity Falls combined (I think the full runtime of Amphibia is something like 20-22 hours or something around that ballpark) and id say only about a third of it is "massive" plot stuff. The other 2 thirds allows for silly filler episodes, yes, but it also allows for characters to REALLY be built up. Characters go from violent and bruting to caring parental figures and we SEE the arc happen, its not like it happens offscreen.
IM NOT SAYING THAT SHOWS LIKE GF OR TOH DONT DO THIS, IM JUST SAYING AMPHIBIA HANDLES IT IN A WAY THAT DOESNT SACRIFICE PLOT. Toh specifically has this issue where it will be like a couple episodes of character building and then the next dozen episodes are ALL plot (though granted that's likely because of it being ended prematurely but the point still stands)
No spoilers for those who havent seen it, but Marcy's entire arc is so fucking tragic because the more it unfolds the more you learn about her home life, and then all the things you went "well why would she do that?" start to make SO much more sense and its SO FUCKING WELL DONE
Anyways, PLEASE watch Amphibia if you want a bingeable show to watch with a perfect balance of silly filler, character development, and plot
Man is it just me or are a lot of TV shows nowadays are written to have big emotional episodes in scenes with very little build up.

Its extremely bizarre how veilguard utterly ignores dalish elves, when the whole game is about their GODS coming back. E&G shouldnt even need to corrupt people, they would absolutely have countless dalish and elven slaves flocking to them if soley for the purpose of fucking up human shit.
You have innumerable tevinter slaves who wouldnt need any convincing to join them just to see the world burn after being abused all their life and seeing countless friends and family die at tevinter hands. How fucking morally interesting and heartwrenching would it be to have to fight freed slaves who willingly joined the gods because all this shit, lets burn this shit world down and all the shem with it.
You have so many dalish who have been waiting, PRAYING a day like this would come, a day their gods came to them and said now its time to take thedas back, to take their rightful place once more. To handwave it off as "oh the gods dont sctually care abt elves" is stupid and makes no sense. Theyre tryinf to amass a force to kill everyone, what do you mean they wouldnt cate about the tens of thousands of willing fighters they wouldnt even need to corrupt, in all corners of thedas. They'd use them just as any other tool or weapon at their disposal.
Also i can barely count the veil jumpers as dalish. Theyre not a single clan, they have no keepers, they dont act like dalish and neither does bellara. Ive never heard her mention her clan, her traditions beyond the veil jumpers. And to have the veil jumpers trust non elven, non dalish outsiders with their operations, their peoples deepest most sacret artifacts and secrets is BONKERS
Like dont get me started on how there is just no spirituality AT ALL in this game. The game about GODS. Nobody cares that the elven gods are REAL and the maker isnt. Theres a single scene about it and hardly any of your companions give a shit, because the writers forgot that most people of thedas are religious, andrastian specifically. Everyones just kinda agnostic or atheist now i fucking guess. Its not ljke there have been multiple crusades because of religion in thedas.
Whatever

Ur art is such an inspiration and motivation for me, as a fellow artist. I’ve been following ur stuff for a bit now and I was wondering how you decided to draw loid, yor, and anya the way you do. I say this bc I really want to start making my own fan arts, but i struggle to take this anime style and have these character read as [insert character] without it being in a “anime style.”
And I guess this applies to any character you want take from a media, and translate it into your style. Bc i don’t necessarily think ur art style is considered “anime” i kinda just see it as an abstraction ig. But even if it is, it isn’t in the style of anime show is yk? Yet the characters read as who they’re supposed to be.
And I think a while back you u mentioned that you were struggling on decided how to draw loid. ig i wanna know How did you come to the decision that “yes, this looks correct and I wanna draw him like this.”
Is it finding defining feature and proportions? Just messing around until you figure something out? And I assume you make a character sheet to keep it consistent?
Like i literally go to art school but cant draw anything without a reference photo and it killing me 😔💀💀
Sorry for the yapp i’m just down bad rn and really love ur work. Please help be get out of the reference photo trap😭
Also sorry if this reads weird and has errors i’m sleep deprived and can’t bring myself to go back and reread
Tumblr media
WHAIUGOUGH???? UR TOO KIND??? THANK U
i will try my best to answer below, but i dont think it is anything profound or super secret lmao
so i think that artists get really caught up with finding/establishing a style when they are first starting out. i say this because i was no different. to me it was like 'oh if i have a style then i am a Real artist instead of just a copier'
but like, i think that order is backwards. like the more that you draw things you enjoy, the more those drawings will become your own and in your 'style' if that makes sense. heavy emphasis on the quantity here. you just gotta go really at it. and the best way to do this is through sheer quantity tbh.
however at the same time, i dont really agree with the whole 'draw x things per day every day' thing cuz sometimes thats just hard man. i mean you mentioned you were in art school so you're probably drawing every day anyways, but for a hobbyist or fanartist (me lol) its mostly based on whether u feel like drawing or not. Which is why its rlly cool when you have a show/book/movie/anything you're really into which makes you want to draw more! it becomes something fun rather than a chore.
so basically, dont view a style as something you have to develop right away, or turn drawing into a chore, because that will be very counteractive trust me.
another important thing i wanted to mention, you said "reference photo trap" but ITS NOT A TRAP! USE REFERENCES!!! REFERENCES ARE IMPORTANT AND GOOD (i am assuming you already know this, but using references is not the same as tracing. just to make it clear)
this is another thing common with newer artists (and of course how i used to be), where you feel like you have to draw 'from your mind' for it to be an indicator of any skill. NOT TRUE!! you need to use references to get better!
lastly, to answer your question (as best i can lol) there was never any point when i decided 'yes this is it' when drawing. you just draw and draw and keep changing and growing. it is a little of everything you said (defining features, proportions, messing around) but it is also just drawing a lot and having fun! :D oh and i definitely do not have a character sheet. i am not anywhere near that organized LMAO

Is it alright if you talk/ramble about your god designs?? :3 I’d love to learn about your thought process about them!!! :D
HI, YES, WILL DO :D!!! Okay, so, fun little thing, athena wont be here because I WILL be redesigning her, but not too much, just to basically match with Zeus a little more [favorite child moment.] For the most part, I basically try to put the branches that stem from the concepts of what they're a god of, like god of thunder and god of the seas, with both Zeus and Poseidon having elements of their environment. With Zeus' cloud hair and fluff, and his thunder like marbling on his skin, and Poseidon's water arms and fish features [the fins and black scales] Zeus' design wasnt as simple to think about as I thought, for the most part I kind of just dont put that much thought into it and think about it AS I go, I try to implement the leaves in other ways like his horns, and the MAIN thought in designing zeus is how much of a drama queen that he was that he'd want to make himself look more different than everyone else, my thoughts are pretty scrambled because i don't exactly know how to explain my thoughts in a linear pattern so im sorry if it cant be understood, basically just had idea after idea WHILE i was making him, his hair basically turns into his tail in the same design that Hermes has, just fluffier, AND his chest is charred/marbled with lightning coming from the center because power is where his heart lies. I wanted him to EMBODY, cockiness, king of gods energy, while also thinking it'd be funny that other than aphrodite he's the one with the most skin shown..just because. Poseidon's design was in similar existence with Zeus, but where Zeus was as big and puffy as his clouds, I wanted poseidon to be as sleek as water, his hair had to be waves that melded into the seas whenever he was in his element, and when he wasnt, his hair would flow to the floor giving the look you usually see in water breathing from demon slayer [image below] His hair flows in the same sense, while keeping its form for the most part.
Tumblr media
Hermes! well, he kinda just came to me while I was doodling him, ngl I had to pull out google to figure out what hermes looked like the first time to get more than one idea, and decided that it'd be fun to make him more of a mysterious trickster of a mailman that is alot more threatening than he's let on, giving him a more 'biblically accurate angel' look with all the eyes came from the idea of him being a messenger and being able to go anywhere as quickly as he does, you'd never really know when he was or wasn't watching. I thought I'd just implement that more into his design, ALSO incorporate some spirity ghostly things mostly on his cape, just to make his role of guiding souls a bit more shown :3 APHRODITEEE Was simple, but a really fun thought, as the goddess of beauty and allat I wanted her to basically be as customizable as possible, marbling vitiligo with white hair, a canvas capable of change. She's able to mold herself as whoever you want her to be, and whoever she wants herself to be, but her main look is a dull pink with marbling vitiligo and hair so white you'd get blinded looking at her, I also added a bit to the dove look with her hair, making it look and flow like feathers whenever she moves.
Basically, again, all of my ideas usually stem from the concepts and branches of their titles, and my want to just make them all silly and pretty, i havent designed others yet but I hope this answers it! :D!

The way i've used this in games is to have a set answer, but allow for other answers depending on how the players work it out. For example, i had a statue of a king, sitting on a throne with a hand out stretched, palm up, and a sign that read "I Wield That Which Fosters Peace". When players placed an item in the statues hand it would either crush the item (wrong answer) or smile and reveal the tresure (right answer) The set answer i had was to palce an olive branch in its hand (there was one among the item options in the room). What one of my players did though, was to witness it crushing items, then go and and place his hand in the statues hand. Instead of just mercilessly crushing his hand, i asked him why, and his answer was "Because trust fosters peace", so i let that be the answer. I liked that answer, it made sense, and i wasnt going to punish a player for thinking outside my box. Now, if he had said something else, or had just done it for shits and giggles, i absolutely would have crushed his hand. Because even though im happy for alternate solutions to puzzles, they have to make sense. Players should be rewarded for clever play imo
That said, i agree with OP when they said why are you putting riddles in for players that dont like riddles? If you need the riddle, or some similar kind of puzzle, then give them an outside option to help. In all my puzzle dungeons i have a pixie that offers players hints. Those hints need to be bought, and the cost changes on the players/campaign, but hes there to give the players an out for puzzles they dont like/get stuck on. He doesn't give the answer, but is there to stop the players from softlocking themselves into a corner because none of them like riddles and the exit is stuck behind a riddle door
My least favourite GMing "hack" that gets passed around is "make puzzles/riddles with no fixed answer, and then whatever answer the players guess, make that the right answer."
If the game I'm running is going to have riddles, it's because I have players at the table who... like riddles? And for those players, the fun of a riddle is the moment where it clicks and you get the satisfaction of figuring it out. Which just isn't likely to happen if the riddle is just some vague, evocative nonsense that validates whatever guess they make.
So, presumably, this hack is for making riddles for a table full of only people who do not like riddles. Which invites the question, "why are you making riddles for a table full of only people who do not like riddles?" Do you just feel obligated to?
I guess if so, then here is my hack for you: I absolve you. You are no longer obligated to include riddles in your game of people who don't like them. Go forth, my child, and riddle no more.

Ok hi time to rant abt hazbin/helluva because i will forever be upset about the outcome of those shows.
Indie animation has been on a rise lately, with so many different amazing shows being available on youtube.
I watched the hazbin hotel pilot around the time it came out, and it really interested me. The characters seemed interesting and the premise wasnt really something you see often. I was excited.
I kept up with Viv's work and got into helluva boss. I thought it had some good jokes and the bits of lore we got made me want to keep watching. However, the premise of literally every episode is the same. A bad ex or a bad dad. Its a formula, and it shows up in Hazbin too.
Viv has some obsession with daddy issues, and problems with characterising her women characters. Charlie is the *main character* of Hazbin Hotel, but she has literally no growth or development. Millie also falls victim to this.
The one episode where she actually gets some attention feels... wrong? It felt like they were mischaracterising Moxxie so that they can fabricate conflict between Moxxie and Millie. Moxxie loves his wife, and he has literally never once been shown or implied that he would try to upstage her. Yeah, he's definitely got some inferiority going on, hes constantly being belittled by Blitz. Hes the show's punching bag, but i feel like it had never been implied that he hated himself more than he loved his wife. I hate that episode with a burning passion because how tf are you going to mischaracterise your own fucking characters.
I hate the way they did Lucifer. He should NOT have been some wacky, silly guy who just doesnt know how to reach out to his daughter. He's not bad! He's just anxious UwU. His entire character is irritating. Having a wacky fun character is fine, i love characters like that, but Lucifer shouldn't have been that character.
In the pilot, it was implied that Lucifer hangs over Charlie and his influence puts a lot of pressure on her, but then we meet him and hes just. A guy. Who doesnt talk to his daughter a lot. Which makes absolutely no sense. You could argue that they retconned a lot from the pilot, which, yeah, its all new voice actors so, sure. But then, why wouldnt they remake it in some way, in any way?
Not to mention that all the characters feel flat. Even in Helluva. In Helluva we get filler and backstory, but even then the characters dont change or grow. Quite literally the only good thing out of Helluva is Fizz. His arc and story is the only one that actually breaks from the formula of bad ex bad dad and his character actually changes from the lessons in the episode. I love Fizz for pretty much that reason alone.
Moxxie and Biltz have an episode where they promise to be nicer to eachother *and then they fucking don't?* They stay the *exact same* towards each other. If you're going to do that, then don't make a story based show. Make one of those slice of life, 10 minute episodes combined into one 20 minute episode that shows no growth, and is just there to be fun. Those shows arent bad, they just have a different purpose.
I've been so upset with the results of Hazbin Hotel. The pacing is awful, the characters have no time to change or grow, and their dynamics just arent interesting. It sucks because I saw a world where this indie show got on amazon prime (!!) And was amazing and did amazing things and set the stage for other indie shows to finally get big and then all we got was poorly written, rushed slop that feels like a huge kick in the teeth to anyone who cared about the show. Or, at least, it did to me.

i hate being aroace so much actually . especially because im on the side of the spectrum [ both asexual and aromantic ] where i feel no attraction AT ALL . and all my friends have partners or crushes and theyre always talking about how much they love them and how great it is to be loved and i . dont know it makes me uncomfortable when people talk about romance but i dont want to say anything to anyone about it and ask them not to talk about it because like that makes no sense i cant tell them what they can and cant say . but it just makes my tummy turn whenever anyone mentions their romantic partners i cant understand it . and it scares me like they love them so much and they always talk about them they are their best friends and it feels to me like a competition . . like if i am not good enough then they will forget about me and spend less time with me and then only focus on whoever their partner is and i feel like this even with some of my closest friends one of my best friends from like third grade has a girlfriend now and it feels like shes only spending time with her now and not me . and i cant say anything to them because i am not supposed to have a say in their relationship . like i feel if i express how i feel about it to anyone then theyll think im interested in them or am trying to tell them they cant have a partner . so i dont say anything .
and adding more onto the " no one acknowledges that im aroace " bit , it genuinely makes me so upset . i live in a really conservative town so even the few queer people i know typically arent educated enough to even know what aromantic is , let alone aroace . so im constantly being told " you two would make a cute couple " or " are you dating ? " and bullshit like that because im really affectionate with my friends and it makes me so uncomfortable and tense because its CONSTANT even after i tell people that i dont like conversations about that and tell them i dont experience attraction like that . everyone has a sort of " love is what makes us human " mindset , and they make me feel like a doll or a robot just because of my feelings and to make that even WORSE im neurodivergent and can barely ever be around large groups of people [ even if theyre my decent friends / im acquainted with them ] without getting really overwhelmed and breathing heavy and crying and that makes me feel like some child . i hate how complex human emotions are and i hate that i cant just be normal , be happy .
this really isnt important its just something im thinking about a lot because almost all of my friends are falling in love right now , and im losing one of my closest friends ever because of it . so . sorry for the yap .

The way season 1 ended she was at a point so low she was ready to blow up a city (and like she did, she blew up the council). The start of season 2 showing her cathartic wasn't actually bad I liked that direction. It felt like they wanted to show her in a "nothing state" which depression also feels like.
they showed her as not caring about anything anymore (literally just walking through every scene in the music video sucker while everything just HAPPENS around her). The meeting with Isha, while still being a little bit odd since it felt like well they randomly put them together but that's something you can overlook, was amazing. She still just didn't care, played with her life.
Her reaction to seeing her sister being an enforcer? Gut punching. Extremely painful. The fight with her STILL being more in a nothing like state, just shooting the dude with her back turned to him felt very s1 which is good because again, Jinx in the end was like??? done.
and then.... act 2 happened. Suddenly they used Jinx's mental state as a Plot device. In season 1 it would ruin missions and her freaking out would happen no matter if "the plot needed it or not" if you get what I mean? The first mission we see on screen? fucked up because Jinx lost control. This happens throughout the first season, it doesn't just come when ever the writers need it to happen.
In season 2 it does. Suddenly in situations that should freak her out she doesn't. Suddenly they use it as a plot device. Why was she very calm and relaxed upon meeting Vander as warwick with Vi? Why did she not freak out when Vi and her fought in the mines?
Do we all remember what happened in season 1 episode 3? And how Jinx immediately lashed out as soon as a fight occured? What happened? Also why was she suddenly so very chill with Enforcers in act 2 and beyond? The joke with the Enforcer and her god damn fucking pants was so out of place I cannot even handle to think about it anymore. The fight with Warwick was good and I liked that in the end they again showed that she is ready to kill herself, at least there is continuity here but that is also never addressed and also... happens for Plot and plot only
it happens so warwick can see the bomb and so they can have him recognize her, like okay arcane writers? And then after that she is simply fine with her second father figure showing up again? You are telling me the girl who had such a mental break down last season over her sister returning would be absolutely fine and 🥺family🥺 upon seeing Vander? Where was the sense? Where was her having to deal with Silco and Vander in her mind? i don't WANT to see her tortured, duh, but they set that up and showed this happening to her in season 1, so this is just, I dont know, a plothole? You are telling me the same girl who blew up the council in s1, and like LOOK AT HER in that scene, is all cuddle cuddle with her past family whose death she always blamed herself for and was scared off?
Then Isha dying, and god do I have my problems with that but that's another thing, and THEN having Jinx never mention her again? Are you KIDDING ME? like it's not even just not mentioning her as much as it is just also Isha not appearing in her nightmares etc. That is NOT how they set Jinx up as a character. While the scene with Jinx in the prison with Silco turning up was chillingly heartbreaking it also didn't make sense if you take into account how they wrote her seeing things this season. In the one scene where she talked to Silco's chair she says he doesn't show up and then when she is in pain over Isha being caught suddenly he stands behind her? I mean maybe I missed something here but I literally sat there like huh.
In season 1 it happened not because it was needed but because it wasn't. As it should be. In this season it only happened when the Plot needed to move and that's just so incredibly weird to me. Especially cause I already saw people misinterpreting the Silco and Jinx prison scene. It was her subconscious telling her to kill herself not Silco trying to be "a positive influence".
And then or course, we have this tragic character Jinx. Who was shown to have a wish of death all throughout season 1 with how careless she was with her life (for example when she threw around the bombs in her hide out) and then throughout season 2 as well. Who saw a breath of life for a bit, taken from her.
To have a character like this ACTUALLY die by killing herself and then to paint it as a GOOD thing? This isn't a tragedy. This is straight up suicide glorification. I did not cry when I watched this scene, I did not feel sadness and grief. I was beyond mad and disgusted and might be for a long time to come.
I need more ppl to talk abt how awfully Jinx was treated this season. I am soooo angry and upset

rays of sunshine creep through the tiny cracks of your blinds, waking you up from your deep slumber. the moment you open your eyes, you let out a groan of annoyance. what’s worse is it hurts when you swallow, you feel a slight throbbing in your head, and you feel sluggish. you think that you might be sick. just in time, your alarm clock screams. a slam of your hand shuts it up: shut up, im already up. you force yourself out of bed and opt for a quick shower– grabbing your towel and necessities, you walk to your bathroom. thanks to your shampoo and soap, you manage to smell like lavender and vanilla; a scent youve always adored.
stripping your clothes, you step under the showerhead and turn it on– letting the cold water hit your somehow hot body. im gonna run a fever, arent i. you grumble in irritation, but you focus on the water hitting you, pondering about your interaction with sevika. now that you think about it, its been a couple of days since her last visit. a single question runs into your mind: maybe i should go to zaun again, it is my day-off.
youve made up your mind, you’ll explore the city.
laying out clothes on your bed, picking your choice of outfit; black cargo pants paired with black shirt, layered with a coat, and black boots– cant forget your trusty dagger. you check your watch and you figure you’d be there in a couple of minutes. with one final look at yourself in the mirror, you head out.
the bustling city fills all your senses, i probably wont get used to this. this time, you fully take in zaun– kids playing on the streets, drunkards already drinking, elders talking to each other, everyone seems lively today you thought. putting your hands in your pockets, you turn into an alleyway. markus was right, curiosity will get you killed. while walking, you see a child crying in his grandmother's arms and of course, you being a nosy woman, listened to them.
“but grandma,” he wails out, “i really love that radio. why’d they have to destroy it?”
his grandma rubs his head comfortingly, “hush now, ill buy you a new one.”
you know that look in her eyes, that guilt and regret swimming in her eyes: she wont be able to buy one. look, you werent always a piltie, but that story can be told another time. absentmindedly, your feet bring you to them. you were only snapped back to reality when you hear her ask.
“what do you want? we dont have anything anymore.” the elder hisses out.
you raise your arms, “im not here to take anything, im here to see if i can fix your radio.”
what?
“what?”
this is what i get for being nosy, “i know a few things about ‘em.”
but the twinkle in the boy’s eyes, his sniffles quieting down, and hugging his grandma tighter? you had to do something.
“r-really?” he’s a timid little kid.
you slowly kneel beside them, “yeah, kid. ill try to fix it, cant promise you though.”
you take a look around their house– its small and messy, considering theyre living in an alley, you cant judge. tools that you can use are tucked away in a box in the corner, thinking theyre good enough. seeing that youre eyeing them, the kid hurriedly brings you the box. thanking him, you carefully grab the radio; its old, and run-down, but it works. using a flathead, you disassemble it.
“its not broken, luckily.” you take a glance at the two, “the screws are loose, so you just have to tighten them again.”
you turn it on once you assemble it back to its original form, a small smile creeps into your face as you hear static before hearing voices.
the grandma brings out her waller, “how much do i need to pa–”
“dont mind,” you stand up to interrupt her, “its my day off.”
her face shows gratitude but her eyes show seriousness, “dont give kindness here easily, kid.”
your eyebrows furrow, confused by her comment. you could only offer them a nod before making your way deeper into the alleyway, relieved you could fix the radio. before turning, you hear the kid yell a thank you which makes you chuckle. but your victory is cut short when you hear a fight going on. your instincts turning on, you put your back against the wall and take a peek behind it.
its sevika. and shes not looking good. her arm isnt working, she’s outnumbered: she looks like she’s about to pass out. debating whether you should help, you watch for a few seconds. one man was about to punch her but you quickly jumped in to block it. her eyes met yours almost immediately, however, you ignored her and put yourself between her and them.
“you shouldnt be here, pretty little thing.” the middle guy snarled.
you only stare at them, “i really dont give a fuck. like, at all.”
guess that pissed him off because he quickly charges at you but you trip him and stepped aside to give him to sevika, seeing the vulnerable man heading her way, she quickly uses her right hand to punch him in the face. on the other side, you were dealing with two guys. one rushes to throw a fist but you evade by ducking and giving the other man a punch in the liver: a body shot, he crumbles down to his knees– giving you the chance to deal with the other.
“lousy,” you comment, jabbing him and hitting his nose, “weak, unfocused, poor execution.”
with every insult, you land hit after hit. he bares his yellow teeth at you while holding his bloody nose and mouth. you feel arms around your torso– throwing your lower body in the air and forcibly throwing yourself down, you make the clingy man stumble forward– hitting his buddy. your gaze goes back to sevika and you see her getting pinned to the wall. quickly grabbing your dagger, you make your way to them and slash the back of his knees, making him let go of her. sevika pants but lands a hit to his jaw– knocking him out cold.
you turn to look at the other two, only to see their back turned against you, already running away. cowards. hearing her groans and labored breathing, you turn around and help her up– putting her arm around your shoulder and trying to support her weight.
“i didnt need your help,” sevika grunts out.
you sneer back, “sure, sure. you look like you were winning actually.”
she tries to escape your hold but right now, you are much stronger than her. you scold her and force her to hold onto you.
“dont play with me right now, sevika. my head is already hurting,” you warn her.
sevika huffs out, “just this once. i have a safe house somewhere around here, its not far.”
scared that she was gonna bleed out, you briskly walk, but still gently handling her. after a few minutes, you reach an abandoned building. she leads this time. this place is a goddamn maze, the smell of wood and cigarette brings you back to reality, the door to her safe house opening.
you take in the sight, you snort at the messy place. she limps to sit on her couch, letting you close and lock the door. you rush to her to assess her injuries: bruises, cuts, and a wound that would probably need stitches.
“you got a kit?” you ask but youre already rummaging through her things.
she snorts, “bathroom, lower cabinet.”
making a beeline for it, you hurriedly walk to her bathroom. seeing the kit, you let out a breath of relief and grab yourself a few ointments and a wet cloth. you go back to her and she looks like she’s really about to pass out. your voice wakes her up, making her stare at you.
“this is gonna sting,” you prepare the stitch to start.
she dismisses your comment with a wave of her bloody hand, “this is nothing.”
only breaths and occasional groans from her fill the quiet room, giving your entire focus to finishing her stitch. snipping the thread, you move on to clean her wounds with the wet cloth you grabbed earlier– dabbing and rubbing the blood away, sevika lets the calming action take over her. too tired and worn out to complain. roughly twenty minutes pass and you finally reach her face; taking a moment to stare at her, your eyes roam from her eyebrows, down to her nose, and travel down to stare at her lips.
“you done starin’ at me?” though her eyes are still closed, you figure she mightve felt your gaze.
warm cloth meets her skin, “wasnt staring at you, i was starin’ at your wounds, asshat.”
she suddenly grabs you by the waist to pull you to her, your hands landing on her chest to steady yourself.
“what are you doing.” red paints your ears.
she chuckles lowly, a sound that makes you want to rub your thighs together, “im only making it easier for you.”
“actually, this is harder for me,” you manage to blur out, “stupid.”
you attempt to pull away but her hold only tightens around you. sevika finally opens her eyes to look at you and you realize: blood loss.
she looks intently at you, slowly leaning in and putting her nose into your throat– inhaling your scent. you flush at this, the redness covering your entire face now. sevika drags her nose up to the side of your neck, finding your pulse; youre scared she’s gonna feel how fast its pulsing. your hand grips her bicep, feeling the muscle and how solid her body is. your eyes shut as her nose travels up your jaw, her lips just grazing your skin.
“you shouldnt have come back here,” she whispers out.
you didnt know it was possible to be closer to her but she grounded you on her crotch– making you straddle her. she pushed you down into her, emitting a throaty groan from her. you, on the other hand, are breathless, you cant think properly, your ears are ringing, and your hands are shaking. she kisses your jaw, resulting in you opening your eyes.
your hand that’s holding the cloth squeezes between the two of you and positions itself on her forehead to push her away. her head lolls back as she finally sleeps. Ignoring the fire in your abdomen, one thought crosses your mind: fuck, that did things to you.
note: finally building tension

that poll i posted about coe vs miracle day is really interesting i knew coe would be more popular but damn the votes for miracle day are so low! ...which to be fair. as a miracle day enjoyer. understandable.
miracle day spoilers under the cut!
these are just my thoughts about some stuff md does that i personally didn't like!! take it all with a pinch of salt + i dont usually write stuff like this so i will love a discussion but pls be nice...lol
i think its weakest point is its conclusion, because, if they reiterated like 30,000 times that jack is NOT immortal bc of his blood, has nothing to do with it, why on earth is that the entire basis of the miracle? like yes, it eats the blood, so it thinks its the blueprint for humanity, but surely jack's blood is just normal? i think they kinda get away with it bc of how weird everything is, but MAN i wanted that miracle to be aliens so damn bad! i suppose in the case of This One Time, earth is the alien planet.
and please do not even get me started about rex becoming immortal. if there had been a 5th season, i would have let it slide, but the fact that is the conclusion for the television show is just absolutely insane to me??? LIKE WHAT! insanity. but this is an insane show. i also kind of think they shouldn't have killed esther, but i also think they should have not killed any torchwood member anyway because i get attached to them all, so the fact that she was inexperienced it made loads of sense that she died, but like, damn...right before they saved the day? misery.
i guess this is because it's implied the story of miracle day was to continue, but i felt like there was so many things going on in comparison to coe. there were a few episodes that really could have spent more time on one thing than the other. is this also because i think we could have gotten more about angelo? maybe...
to be honest, i genuinely think the best part of miracle day is jilly kitzinger. like yeah, that is the EXACT response a big company would have to this situation, and to really make you remember this is a BAD THING this charming character is doing, you have to watch her big up a horrible person! (and the second best thing is gwen and jack, but thats like, duh)
i really wanted to add all this stuff in the tags of that post but i was actually going to write an ESSAY in tag form so decided to spare you all. i'd love to hear you guys' thoughts cos reading the tags on that post has been really cool! as most of you said, i agree with how heart wrenching coe is. its so good at showing how each character would act and genuinely ianto's death, as traumatising as it was, just shows you how he would follow jack to the ends of the earth by the end of his time in torchwood...which is such a stark contrast to the beginning of his time there and how he literally states how much he hates him in broken.
anway!!! if you read all that yap well done i love you. im feeling insane about torchwood currently. send me asks or whatever if you wanna gimme ur opinions!

Songs of Sorrow - Ch. 18
Rancher!AU || Boothill x Fem!Reader || Slowburn, Drama
just in case this is triggering for any readers it is outright said that mikhal fully abandoned his wife as bait for boothill!! i dont really know how to tag it but please keep that in mind if thats difficult for you to process!! you can skip up untli boothill asks about susheng!!
Tumblr media
Boothill’s body was always made for tough work - he grew up working hard then his time as a bounty hunter simply reinforced the innate strength he felt he always had. He had no idea how much he missed the solid weight of a gun in his hand, spinning the metal around his finger as he brought extra ammo and hides a second piece before making his way out the door.
He knows that Mikhal is currently his best bet. He’s passing the man’s house anyway on the way back up to town, leisurely strolling up the porch as he pounds his fist against the wooden door.
Boothill knows that there’s no reason to think that the man would open up for him that easily. Doing so was basically a death sentence right now but that wasn’t going to stop him from getting the answers he needed. He barely lets a second go by before he’s knocking on the door roughly again, his forearm adding to the loud thudding as he knocks insistently.
“Open your damn door Mikhal,” Boothill hisses.
“You’re just makin’ things worse for yourself the longer you make me wait. I ain’t in the habit of killin’ women and children but I might just have to make an exception for your sweet little Geryll there. She’s the one who instigated this,” he threatens.
He knocks on the door again, dangerously close to splintering the wood.
“Khashin, you’re in there too aren’tcha? Don’t worry - I won’t be hurtin’ you or your baby. Y’all ain’t got a quarrel with me. I know if that dimwit of a husband of yours talked to you he wouldn’t have done anything like this. You’re far too good for him - if anythin’ happens I’d be more than willin’ to take you in if you needed me to.”
At no response he steps back from the door, looking to the window that sat at the side. The curtains were drawn, definitely a smart move if they wanted to avoid someone looking in but he also knew the back door didn’t have such protection.
Boothill easily jumps the railing, gun in hand as he begins to circle the foundation of the home. He knew that with there being no upstairs, it’d be very easy to pin down whoever was hiding inside to the basement. There was no way he’d be letting them run out on him, not without giving him the answers he needed.
It’s a little scary how easily he falls back into old habits, the adrenaline pumping through his veins making butterflies of excitement dance around in his stomach. Hunting down scum of the galaxy and putting an end to some lowlife’s existence never ceased to excite him and now, like this, he gets the sense that he’s slipping back into that headspace.
He makes his way to the back door, pulling out his knife to cut through the screen and let himself in. They neglected to pull the glass over the door, heavy boots trailing mud into the usually pristine home. Listening carefully, he makes sure that there are no signs of life before continuing his canvas through the home, gun held steady in front of him as he softens his breath to pay attention to any, and everything in the dark rooms.
He makes it back around to the front of the house, seeing the missing keys and shoes. They must have made a run for it as soon as he threatened Mikhal’s life, running his fingers through his hair as he kicked at a wall.
“Dammit!”
He holsters his gun as he realises that he won’t be getting anything, opening the door to the basement just as he hears a soft sob. The noise stopped as soon as it started, his ears catching the unsteady breathing of someone desperately trying to hide their tears.
He makes a quick loop of the home again, realising that he neglected to check a storage closet that was far too small for a single person to be in. Still, he opens the door anyway, jaw dropping at the sight.
“Khashin! Get out here.”
He pulls the very pregnant woman up from the floor despite the initial recoil from his touch. He leads her to a couch, sitting her down and pouring a glass of water for her. He kneels next to her, gun on the table to avoid her worrying about him shooting her.
Her tears are never ending, Boothill slowly realising that she must have been left here as a diversion.
“How long has it been?” he asks her softly, trying to move things along to find you.
“I - I don’t know,” she cries, head in her hands.
“Mikhal - he said he knew you wouldn’t hurt me, that I’d be safe - but I don’t - I don’t know why he thought to shove me in there.”
“I need you to think Khashin. How long has it been? If you can’t tell me that, can you at least tell me where you think he went? Geryll?” he tries.
“They didn’t tell me. Geryll ran over after telling me she was going to go see you then she and Mikhal started talking about how they needed to go collect their money. Mikhal told me to stay in there until you came here,” she manages through tears, hands going to her stomach.
“I think he’s going to leave me. They’re both going to leave,” she cries, shaking her head in disbelief.
Boothill scoffs, reaching for the landline to dial Dan Heng’s number.
“You know Susheng, right? The egg farmers up the way? I’m callin’ one of them to come down here, keep an eye on you. Don’t worry about any of that right now or else your little baby will come out frownin’.”
He can’t help but feel bad for her, knowing that her marriage was crumbling around her as he talked to Dan Heng. Unfortunately, now was not the time for him to comfort her, knowing that every minute he spent here was another that you were getting further away from him.
He leaves before Dan Heng gets there, making the drive into town that he’s done millions of times at this point. He’s glad that his car isn’t anything fancy, easily blending in with the others as he parks it somewhere nondescript. His hunt continues on foot, heading right to that fateful lounge that started it all.
It’s far too early in the day for the doors to be open but he knows that staff are already milling about looking through the window innocuously to gather quick headcounts. Sampo might be amongst the crowd, helping prepare things for the day and wherever he was, you should be near.
He’s disappointed not to see the man, beginning to make his way down to where he found you being kidnapped. If Sampo was smart he wouldn’t be housing you anywhere near there after it being compromised by Boothill himself. However, he might be able to find some clues as to where you went there, sneaking into the housing nearby for the staff. He breaks into a few rooms deemed empty, trying to figure out who might have the best chance of knowing where Sampo put you.
Sampo doesn’t trust easily, something Boothill is cursing as he realises nobody has anything that would get him nearer to you. He’d probably have to break into Sampo’s home himself, unsure of where to head as he makes his way back to his car to regroup. He keeps himself parallel to the main road, not wanting to be easily spotted as he starts to pass the lounge again.
The doors open and out walks Sampo, looking up to the sky to admire the weather before walking off. Boothill immediately begins tailing him, thanking his good fortune as he follows the man through what seems like an incredibly convoluted path. It’s almost as though Sampo knew he was being tailed but when the two of them reach an abandoned looking cabin and Sampo doesn’t even falter in entering the code to the building. Boothill’s able to make out the code from the positioning of his fingers, taking a mental note of it as he starts planning your rescue.
He knew if he acted too quickly he’d run the risk of scaring off the businessman, forcing him to move up whatever plans he had for you. He’d have to give it some time, trick him into thinking that his plan was foolproof. He wishes he could just step in right now, take you with him but a poorly thought out plan - while his specialty - would just put you in jeopardy.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧───  。゚☆ *.☽ .*☆。゚ ───✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
You kept track of time by marking it on your wall, being given a pencil and notebook to entertain yourself. Your guards were kind enough to at least put the radio on for you, keeping the awkward silences to a minimum as at least one of them had to follow you around. Whoever wasn’t actively with you would usually stand at the front door - the only way to leave the house - or patrol around outside to ensure there was nobody there. Sampo would visit with your meals, trying to make small talk with you and update you on the overall progress being made.
You wanted to ask about Boothill, knowing that it wouldn’t be hard for him to get that information but also worried about what he would tell you. You decided that ignorance was bliss, picking at your meal as Sampo gives you the most recent update on your upcoming trip.
“So there’s nothing I can say to you to change your mind, is there?” you ask for the nth time, convinced that maybe you could annoy him into letting you go.
“Nope. Sorry. I need the money you make me and now that I had to pay out that money to those siblings I really need it back. I had plans for that cash.”
You curse internally, knowing that Geryll sold you out but hearing it from Sampo’s mouth made it sting again.
“I am going to have to figure out what the new pay split is going to be. Just while I work on making back the money I lost.”
“I don’t want to hear about this,” you sigh, taking your meal back to your room.
“If you’re going to try to pretend to be my friend, at least bring me something I enjoy eating.”
Sampo leaves shortly thereafter, leaving you to entertain yourself in your bedroom. You knew that one of the guards was going to stand outside the window, making sure you didn’t slip out as the other stayed on the outside of your door. They were doing this to at least give you some privacy, something you were thankful for. If you knew them better you’d be inclined to hold a conversation with them, feeling extraordinarily bored. You pull out one of the books left for you on a shelf, finding your page as you let the words distract you.
You’re about to fall asleep, moon high in the sky when the feeling of the book slipping out of your hand jerks you awake. You put it back on the bedside table, about to lay down when a soft thud startles you. You look at the book, expecting to see it on the ground but when you realise that it isn’t you sit up in your bed.
You wish you had a phone in your room, worried that something got into the cabin. You didn’t have any weapons or any way of getting help due to Sampo keeping your presence here a secret, quietly making your way towards the window just to see the guard outside slumped against the ground. You bite back a noise of fear, covering your mouth as you start to head towards the closet to hide. Another thud sounds just right outside your door, making you jump as it opens.
You’re about to scream, eyes wide in fear as a figure steps into the room, falling to your knees when you’re faced with the barrel of a gun.

ok op agreed HOWEVER two things:
ONE, I think jujutsu society is very well integrated into normal society, and it often used in fairly insidious ways. hiding an entire extra species from all of humanity is not actually a very aboveboard thing to do. Like we can all agree on that right? esp when its causing massive amounts of death? if that happened with a virus or something in a country and their government just Never Told Their People that would be bad. That's bad.
So with the Fushiguros I dont know that the govt or it being 'illegal' COULD really have stopped what was happening. If police investigates, officers would have gotten paid off/been fired, etc. Orders from the top, shut your mouth or lose your job. What are you gonna do? They're not even supposed to know about this stuff.
There's a lot of powerful and rich people in the jujutsu world and they can and WILL crush you. Not even necessarily for the greater good. Just so that things will keep on going the way they always have been, because that's the system, and to them, it works.
TWO, I dont think megumi's well-being was of no priority to gojo at all I think hes just maddeningly good at compartmentalization which for him is a skill that is absolutely necessary. it is for any corcerer but him especially and clan kids especially. they dont have a choice so better figure out how to make your peace with it now before you get your feelings hurt about it and end up dead or like toji.
whether he could save megumi or not was not something he had the luzury to be thinking of int a practical sense when thousands of people- sorcerers and ordinary humans- were in danger of being massacred by Sukuna should the fancy strike him Also Kanjaku's plans were still in high gear and they needed that to Stop Now because it was going nowhere good, and fast.
so he has to defeat sukuna anyways for at least three reasons. he doesnt have time to be sentimental about the kid he helped and taught (and 'raised like a treasure' in Maki's words, partially to be used as a weapon and instrument of change, yes, but he was pretty much clear about that from the beginning and never acted in a way contrary to that) and if he DID have any fondness for him that needed to go in The Box ASAP.
so i think youre right on some level and im not here to fight with you BUT i also think that there can be nuances to the character at the same time. hes selfish and progressive but i dont think hes usually manipulative in an ill intentioned way.
also he doesnt exactly keep it a secret when he is being manipulatve so im not sure the term holds its meaning anymore cause like, if anyone asked him about his plans for jujutsu society that he even moderately trusted he'd spout off until they told him to shut it.
also yeah his empathy is like rock bottom lol. tho i think he does get better after suguru leaves probably cause hes always wondering what he missed and how and why and unconciously starts looking for it in other ppl.
HOT TAKE #11
Gojo’s character flaw isn't that being the strongest makes him lonely. His flaws is he thinks that being the strongest makes him exist in a category above all other human beings, and therefore he doesn't have to bother trying to empathize with them. He describes everyone else as plants, they're not even animals, they're unthinking plants.
It's a flaw that shows in all of his behavior. He throws his weight around, bullies people to get what he wants, generally doesn't respect other people's autonomy. He loves his students but he also uses them as tools for his scheme to reform jujutsu society. This actually hurts his students, especially Megumi. His students don't even realize they're being used because they all are indoctrinated into thinking they owe him. Gojo is actually pretty manipulative guys, he just happens to have very progressive ideals at the same time.
Literally, everything he did to Megumi. Gojo had the option of putting Megumi into foster care, because hey guess what human trafficking is illegal the Zen'in had no real claim on him. Making an eight year old work to earn room and board by selling away his future is bad actually, it's bad.
Megumi's mental health and well-being is like a tertiary priority to Gojo at best. He literally says out loud to Sukuna he feels no qualms about beating Megumi up. He literally said that. The whole fight he cared more about having a fun fight with Sukuna then the issue of saving Megumi.
Anyway all of this is good because if Gojo were a traditional good mentor he would be boring.
