Favorite character: Caleb Widogast but all of the M9 are absolute wonderful, vital and irreplaceable and I would murder for all of them. From c1 it would be Percy but again the whole dynamics in-between characters  in both the M9 and VM are what really makes the show great.

Least Favorite character: I want to say Trent Ikithon because I mean. Duh. But I find him interesting and I want to know what his angle is on several things. I have a seething hatred for Ripley, though.

When I started shipping them: Episode 91. YEAH I HELD OUT LONG.

My thoughts: Though I see the probability for them becoming canon to be very low as of right now, I’m very curious to see where it will go. Even as a platonic relationship their dynamic is just super fucking interesting and I can’t wait to see what happens with it. Just kinda hope they don’t kill Essek off before it can go anywhere.

What makes me happy about them: The whole ‘kindred spirits’, common ground vibe

What makes me sad about them: Aside from the canon problems, I always get sad when I remember their different lifespans. I know that with consecution and Transmogrification there are ways to make it better but still.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Those are all more Caleb-specific than ship specific. I can’t think of any specifically for this ship though there’s probably some.

Things I look for in fanfic: Oh I’m not that picky, I think. And it changes with the time of day. I just like seeing interpretations of them in general. Oh wait I forgot. Angst. So much Angst. 

My wishlist: For the M9 to find a way to deal with Essek that doesn’t end up in his death.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Essek I would find absolutely weird with anyone else to be quite honest. As for Caleb, as long as it grows organically I’m fine with most anyone. Yes, Jester, too.

My happily ever after for them: Essek resigns and leaves his Den and the Dynasty. When the Nein are done adventuring and Caleb survived all of this they settle down somewhere and do research forever and put their joint names on many a spell. Caleb becomes a teacher. Essek can be one too. I haven’t given this a lot of thought but their Happily Ever After is SOFT okay.

How I feel about this character: I love him, find him interesting and love to see his journey and his backstory.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Primarily Essek, recently also Molly (sads) and a little bit of Jester

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Here’s the thing. Caleb has great platonic relationships with everyone in the M9 and with Essek. So. Hm. Maybe Empire Kids.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I really don’t like it in fanfic when people retcon his backstory relationship to have been with Eodwulf instead of Astrid for absolutely no reason.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: That Jester-Insight Check, man. That should have FAILED. Other than that I really can’t wait for more brushes of him with Trent in some way.

How I feel about this character: Love him even just as a fascinating character. Hope he will see that he did a bad and try to do good but he really needs to not be indifferent to the consequences of his actions. We’ll see!

great first sentence/paragraph -- instead of talking about what he is, the narrative starts with what he isn't, which adds a very personal voice straight off the bat

idk why but the onslaught of negative statements in the first two paragraphs really speaks to me. doesn't. doesn't. doesn't. don't. not. too early. he didn't know.

Seungmin doesn’t think he’s crying. It doesn’t feel like it, at least – his chest doesn’t hurt, his throat doesn’t ache, his eyes don’t burn with a fire like the sun shining during the hottest hour of the day, but when his legs finally give out and he collapses to the grass, something liquid falls on the backs of his hands, glistening in the moonlight.

Not a cloud dots the sky. It’s too early in the night for dew. Seungmin blinks once, twice, and something wet trickles down his face.

Tears, then. Even if he didn’t know he was crying.

With a sigh, Seungmin brushes the wetness from his eyes, ignoring the tremble of his fingers against his cheeks. He clenches them in a fist and outstretches them once more. They shake a little less as they drop to the grass, blades blissfully cool on his skin, and his eyes close automatically, head falling backward to lean against the trunk of the tree he fell under.

This is nice. This is alright. Soft wind breezes past Seungmin’s face, rustling the grass beneath his palm and the leaves overhead, fresh air after having breathed stale whispers and gossip between stone palace walls for so long – spirits, Seungmin does appreciate his lot in life and enjoys the part he plays in it, but sometimes, by all the stars, sometimes it’s just so –

He sat there for another day, bringing in another rose to set beside your bedside table. He sat down on the nearest seat and held your hand, looking at the mask attached to the bottom part of your face, the wires that were attached to your arms, and everything else that was attached to your body to keep track of your condition. 

“Hey there,” He started, his sad smile popping up once again and he looked at you, “Today I went out with the guys again. We went to this new restaurant downtown and I promise to take you there when you wake up.” His thumb rubbed on the back of your hand and he scanned your body once again. “Baekhyun told me a really funny joke, he reminds me of you. Just more loud and obnoxious, but I think the both of you would get along.”

He continued to talk to you, knowing you could hear him somewhere. You’re only asleep, you’ll wake up and everything will return back to normal. He knows it will. He believes in you, he knows how you are stubborn and will fight back to see him again. 

“I remember when you scrambled to my side when I took you to go met Jongdae,” His hand moved from caressing and now simply playing with your limp fingers, his voice becoming unstable as he continued his sentence, “You were so nervous because you thought he wouldn’t like you, or that you thought he’d want to fight you because you were also my best friend.”

“It’ll be okay, Minseok. The doctors have faith in her.” The nurse that always escorted him to your room was rubbing his back. Minseok nodded at the nurse and the assistant left, leaving you both alone.

“Then the two of you hit it off, every time we went out you’d ask if Jongdae was tagging along and I wanted to fight Jongdae for stealing my best friend.” His voice was getting breathy and he knew what was going to happen. Minseok always knew it was going to happen. 

“You must feel so cold and scared and... and...” Minseok never finished his sentence and his teeth were clenched together, but his breathing still loud as he tried to stop his tears by rapidly blinking. “Once you wake... once you wake up, I’ll wrap you in so many blankets and we’ll watch every comedy movie you’ve missed out on! We’ll have the best movie night ever!”

He was just sitting there, his hand moved again and now he was tightly holding onto your hand, keeping his grasp there because he was too afraid to let go. Minseok was afraid that if he let go, he’s letting go of you. 

“Minseok, it’s time for her check-up, so I think it’s time you leave now.” The nurse was back to collect Minseok and take him back down to the lobby. “We’ll call you if anything happens, but we’ll see you tomorrow.” 

Minseok nodded and said goodbye to the clerk before heading back home. 

‘She’s awake.’ Minseok didn’t care where he was or who he was with, all that mattered was that he was the first one to hug you. He was rushing to you. He must see you, wide and awake, moving, reacting.

He didn’t say his daily hello to the clerk and was running through the hallways, not really minding the scolds he was getting from the staff he passed by. By the time he reached your room, the nurses were crowding you. 

“[Y/N]!” Minseok yelled, which startled everyone but you the most. He had the largest smile on his face as his eyes looked directly into yours. He noticed something, you looked terrified. “[Y/N], don’t be s-”

“Who is he, why does he know my name.” You slide back into your bed, moving your eyes from his and to the doctor standing at the foot of your bed. What. Your personal nurse escorted him outside, “Minseok, give her some time.”

“Why? She should be happy to see me and now she’s scared of me.” Minseok looked into your room through the window and watched as you continued to converse with the people surrounding you. “Minseok. She suffering from temporary amnesia.”

Minseok turned his attention from you to the nurse, reciting the words in his mind. “Temporary, so she should remember me!”

“Not exactly, it might take her a couple years to really remember who you are.” Minseok shook his head, it shouldn’t take you that long to remember the person who’s been stuck to your side for who knows how many years now. “We suggest you not visit her at the moment, she seems to be a bit terrified of you at the moment.”

“So tomorrow?” Minseok sighed and watched as the nurse nodded their head and add a couple taps on his shoulder, “Same time. I’ll be outside waiting for you.”

The next day, the nurse was outside of your room just like they said yesterday. Minseok had brought in another gift, a scented candle. “I’ll let her know your here.” Minseok was nervous, he didn’t want you to be scared of him after the nine months - and all the years - he’s been comforting you. 

“Come in.” Minseok did, watching you cautiously and took slow steps towards your bed. “Hi.” You spoke to him, and in your hands you were clenching onto the teddy bear he got you. “Hi, [Y/N].” He sighed and took his step, hearing the door close and seeing the nurse walk away through the window behind him. 

“[N/N] told me you’re the one who got me all the things.” You looked at all the gifts surrounding you. Bases full of flowers, framed pictures and paintings, different types of teddy bears piled in a corner, and above your bed was a picture of you and him.

“I did.” Minseok gave you a large smile, and hesitantly gave him one back. “You also visited me every day and talked to me.” He nodded, “I did. Everyday I would make time to see you.” 

It was awkward between the two of you, “I...Minseok...I’m sorry that I forgot you. Everyone is telling me about you and-” You started to tear up, it pained both of you. You couldn’t remember someone who visited you for nine months straight, someone who brought you gifts and gave up time just to see someone who wouldn’t respond to his words. He was hurt seeing how you were pained, after nine months of being in a deep sleep, you shouldn’t be feeling hurt or guilty, you should feel refreshed and free. 

“It’s not your fault you forgot about me. The thing is that I never forgot about you, so I get to do the biggest job.” Minseok held out his hand, and you set your hand down on his as you used the other to wipe the tears running down on your cheeks. 

“My job is to help you remember everything you had forgotten. And the first thing is me.”

I gather from your test posts that you're coding this yourself? o: Where did you learn it?

Yes. Or partially yes?Well, when I was younger - and it was been cca 8 years ago, I think? - I had a little blog to which I was making designs via CSS and HTML. It was hobby. Those were my self-taught coding starts. But then I stopped and just now I returned to it because I was nudged/talked into creating my own Tumblr. Well, that was… in Friday I think? So, during the weekend and the following Monday (3 days) I basically did diy self-taught crash course into Tumblr coding. I was… quite rusty after all those years not touching CSS etc.

For start, when you want to do your own theme, Tumblr has this helpfully unhelpful (?) page (link: https://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/custom themes) containing basic codes or HTML Tumblr tags, but also - and this *was* helpful - there is banner-link that will redirect you to GA Dash site, which was very helpful in my initial quest to even recall again what I (more then half-) forgot. The first four parts (from 5 in total - including the robot part) were wonderful in relearning old things but also new things. After all HTML and CSS evolves and… I admit I am bit astounded what now is possible to do with just pure codes (I mean I did not use any pictures/images while doing this blue theme - all those gradients, (half-)transparent parts would be impossible to do for me before without using external pictures). It is just wonderful. I love gradients, rgba, opacity and, oh my, z-index. I want to make loooove to them. Hhhhh. Oh, and let’s not forget those Google fonts.

But, ok, step by step guide how I learned (partially) to code Tumblr. – that GA Dash page is lovely in teaching you the barest basics (HTML structure…) – then comes the fun part. What I basically did was selecting the most basic theme that Tumblr offers you and…. I just utilized my oldest, but working, method of TRIAL AND ERROR. That is, you look at the Tumblr basic pre-installed code, you look at your page-Tumblr how it looks and… then you start playing with it: you change it here and there and look what it affects. I first had to learn *what is what*, so I changed part by part the background-color to see/learn what CSS code affects which part in Tumblr. Because I am Neanderthal I did this learning part directly in the HTML Tumblr editor. *sigh*. I recommend you to do this right in your browser. It’s faster, more comfortable, better, it let’s you see side by side which part in HTML is tied to which part in CSS. (because in that HTML editor, there are only parts of CSS visible, the rest is hidden in… idk, somewhere. But this browser tool will let you see the whole CSS code). I did it in Mozilla Firefox, I looked at the code in Chrome too. You just load your Tumblr, then you right-click somewhere on the page (or! You can select just one part, eg. highlight the title+description and then right-click on it) and then from the menu (or idk how to call it) that appears you pick (I think second option from bottom) to *Inspect Element*. (Here link what I mean for mozilla: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Page_Inspector/How_to/Open_the_Inspector).It’s absolutely wonderful tool. It helps you in learning soooo much. You just inspect the page and… when you change something (by hiding/showing, deleting, rewriting, adding…) it immediately directly affects the loaded page(Tumblr). You can also look at someone else Tumblr and *spy* their coding…

So… that’s how I (partially) learned Tumblr coding. I say partially, because (if I discount few HTML changes here and there right in “body” part of the HTML code) all I did was just working in the “style” part of HTML. What I am trying to say is that I changed primarily only the CSS part = how my Tumblr *looks* and not the html/script (jQuery) part (how it *works*, what parts your Tumblr even *have*, diverse moving effects, etc). I practically (nearly) only changed what already was there.

Still. It’s not done. I would say it’s finished only by… 60% (? 65? max 70% if I am generous). I need to adjust the reblogs part, I have certain (uncertain) hopes that I will manage to force my Tumblr to show posting dates (in posts-header even? Maybe?), iframe mystifies me (I mean he refuses to obey my directives), I have to go back and clean my code (CSS part) and most importantly I still have to do the *for phones/tablets* part of CSS. Because as it is, my Tumblr is unusable on mobile devices. (Go look on your smartphone if you want - you will immediately know what I mean.)

Ah. Eh. Bit… looooong response to your ask? Sorry? (That’s typical me… it’s as if brevity would kill me or something…). :D

Right. I will wrap it up with this: *If you want to just change the looks of your Tumblr, it really is not so hard. Start easy. Use some pre-made working theme that works (for it’s HTML “body” and “script” parts and metas) and start slowly, easily… just changing what is already there… CSS is like… painting? It tells you “I want THIS to be positioned HERE and THAT to be located THERE. And I also want it to look like THIS.* :D

Ooh okay okay. I see now, you’re right I didn’t fix those links (my bad I forgot those hehe). They should be working now though :) Hmm I see. I mean, sometimes looking at edits/photoshop on yourself is bit hard to see, and it’s also different online compared to real life as well. I’m sure it’ll look good on you though! If anything, you could always dye your hair back to your natural color if you’re unsatisfied with the dye. Sometimes, you just gotta be like “well screw it” and go for it aksghj New year, new you my dude LOL Also, just throwing it out there, if you get your hair dyed at a salon and you’re unsatisfied with how they dyed your hair, then you can usually get it redone by the stylist for free (as compensation, however, some stylists may not do this). Also, when I got my hair done my friends and other people said that the color looked good hehe.
