Zexal Month, Week 1 Day 2: B is for Barian

My favorite Barian Emperor. Yeah that's an obvious answer, naturally it’s our one and only Ryoga Kamishiro otherwise known as Shark or Nasch. Oh this guy. This guy who has gotten me to cry more than any character in the series I'll admit it. He started off as a no-good punk but thanks to Yuma his character evolves as a Duelist and a person. He was an avenger wanting to beat IV for what he did to his sister Rio to then slowly open up to Yuma and let others in. He was an emotional rollercoaster in Zexal and I enjoyed the ride. But then oh but then came Zexal II and let me just say... WHAT THE HELL SHARK DO YOU MAKE IT A POINT TO MAKE THE WATCHERS CRY?!!! The ruins of Abyss Splash and Crystal Zero, the reliving of previous memories courtesy of Durbe, watching his sister die, his men, little Iris...! Realizing he was the enemy to his friends this entire time and having to betray them for the sake of his people and watching him break the ties of his previous friends making them hate him in order to not be forgiven. His duel against IV that well broke my heart and then this!:

'Everyone... You all just shouldn’t do this. When this fight is over... Soon I too will die.'

Like what? WHAT?! Was he actually planning on killing himself after the war as atonement for betraying Yuma and the others?! Like what?!! This guy can act like a big bad shark all he wants but he is too kind, to gosh darn selfless to pull it off and Yuma knew it! He knew it and that's why he wanted to do EVERYTHING he could to help his best friend! But Shark wouldn’t put him in that position! But Shark, why do you have to hurt yourself like this?! You could’ve found another way with Yuma because Yuma would not turn his back on you! And then you die just after finally admitting Yuma and Astral were your best friends?! My heart is utterly dust!

Shark was a character I don’t think I could ever forget whether you love him or hate him. This guy was a friend. A brother. And a damn King you won’t forget.
