2024 Art Summary!
Artist notes/ramblings under the cut
January - March: A lot of the art I did during this time was mostly doodles and sketches that I didn't post anywhere, but during this time I did start planning the test comic project for my story, Startrails!
April: Only art that I posted during this was the art of one of my Startrails characters, Mira.
May: I finished the test comic during this! It was a great practice to do and it gave me a lot of insight on what part of the comic process I should work on so it flows more smoothly for myself. And it was really cool to see my two main characters in a comic format qvq
June: On June, I wanted to do a bigger illustration to practice backgrounds more. And since I was in a Splatoon mood at the time, I went and drew a nice little scene of some inklings and octolings hanging out in the locker room before a match.
July: Artfight month!! I was team Stardust this year, and the art featured in this art summary was a character by @/artisticdragons. I'm honestly proud I drew as much as I did for artfight!
August: Earlier in January, I had started and finished playing Outer WIlds (along with the DLC) and around here was when the brainrot returned tenfold and had be in its clutches. This was one of the many silly doodles I did for the game
September: Major outer wilds spoilers for this art! But this here was the comic I spent a little over a month working on. A comic inspired by an Undertale quote that I felt really encapsulates Hatchling's journey. I also posted this on Twitter and it got noticed by both Mobius Digital and got a comment by Andrew Prahlow and I'm still losing my mind over that qwq
October: Outer Wilds DLC spoilers here! I drew a lot for October bc during this, I was participating in an Outer Wilds Inktober event ^^ This art was something I did as a little bit of a break from the inktober stuff. But also bc the DLC gave me a lot of feelings and I had to draw them out
November - December: During this time, the Outer Wilds server I joined created our own Nomai clan so I spent.. So Much time drawing mostly Nomai ocs djdfg. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed being able to be silly with my art and participate in this group endeavor!
Overall, I'm proud of how much I was able to draw this year despite juggling a full time job that would usually leave me too drained and tired to draw. Some days it's still difficult to keep drawing but joining a group of creatives really inspired me to create for fun.
I'm hoping to continue creating art next year, maybe make more fanart of stuff I love. And absolutely hoping to draw more oc stuff, especially of my story, Startrails! :)

My art year in review!
I learned so much this year and made a ton of cool stuff! These are my favorites from each month, but it was so hard to choose. A lot of stuff didn't even get posted--I'll be sure to at least post the ones that made it to this list!
It's amazing to see how much I've changed and learned over this year, and to see the things that are emerging as part of "my style."
Here's to another year of delight, creation, connection and fun!
Some monthly reflections beneath the cut, but here's the highlights:
I participated in 3 art challenges, Artfight, OC-tober and Huevember.
I made fanart for the first time!
I created a piece I conceived of before I started drawing
Made some big breakthroughs in techniques and skills in April, July and November
January: My first branch into full character design, Rodd is the culmination of training on Hero Forge renders to make dnd portraits! I was doing this cool thing with neon rim lighting, I should bring that back!
February: I saw a piece on here with this amazing glowing effect, so I color picked it and experimented to figure out what relationship between the colors was making it do that! The answer was saturation. This rose is meant to be glowing from within, and I think I did a good job for my knowledge level at the time! As Chuck Tingle would tell us, it's beautiful because only I could have made it in that moment on the timeline.
March: I spent a million years on every detail of this one, it has at least 5 clipping overlay/saturation layers for lighting, multiple line work groups and I want to rework that background but! I never felt more accomplished than I did when I finished this one. I learned a lot, especially about things I could skip or simplify. And the symbolism really pops off ngl
April: I read Gideon the Ninth for the first time this month and I immediately needed to draw Jeannemary Chatur, Cavalier of the Fourth House, the worst teen to do it. She's the first fanart I ever made and posted! I also discovered a new pen tool with this one, which CHANGED THE GAME.
May: This one is an idea I had written down before I ever picked up the tablet and stylus. I thought I might commission someone to make it, the image of it came to me so clearly during our VTM session I just had to make it real somehow. Well I did it! This is one I will come back to redraw in like 5 years bc I love the concept so much. Also rife with symbolism and inside nods to the Low Kings.
June: I made a bunch of ref sheets in the run-up to Artfight in July. Caleb hadn't even been in my plans to upload, but I had time and inspiration! I will be uploading this and a few more of him <3
July: This is one of my faves from Artfight! This character is Blueberry, by way of OrchidEatsBread on artfight. I have still never played... rainworld? But I love me a slug cat. In July I drew a TON of people, it really drilled anatomy basics into me and how to get clothes looking like actual clothes a bit more. Also solidified some things I would consider "my style" at the moment, like no irises, and my approach to noses and mouths and fingers!
August: Another fanart for the Locked Tomb series, I never posted this!!! Will be rectifying that soon.
September: I got really into javascript and css this month, and I made this to be a landing page image on my neocities website XD I'll get back around to that eventually...
October: At the last minute, I discovered OC-tober and the prompts from @/bweirdart, a worthy follow up to the rush of Artfight two months previous. I developed so much stuff for the Low Kings, including this drawing/character, Amayah/Girl-Z, who has been a figment of my pintrest board for 2+ years.
Huevember: Chasing that OC-tober high, I found Huevember! I did not expect to actually do every day, but it proved to be an amazing exercise! I learned so, so much about color, discovered amazing new brushes and techniques and found I really enjoy working in those one day capsules! I loved a lot of the stuff that came out of this month, including my highest note post ever!!!, but this one is still my phone background and I'm maybe developing an OC world around it. We'll see what happens in 2024.
December: I got hit HARD with the writing bug this month, so this was my only choice for this month but I WOULDA CHOSEN IT ANYWAY. I unlocked something here that I'm really excited to visit again, in fact I'm working on a companion piece rn! This is also fanart btw, prepare for me to get even weirder about this guy in the coming months.
If you've read this far, thank you so much! I have so much fun writing these little reflections and making my posts on here.
xoxo, wren

my 2023 summary of art!
Template:here
still not consistently posting anywhere, but I like doing these. they're fun there's a lot of things i would've liked to include but had to exclude, due to not being shareable on this account. maybe i'll have more stuff next year!
this is long, so details under the cut
JANUARY silly lizard oc i generally dont do much single line hatching, so it was nice to fiddle with it this time
FEBRUARY the wittle scrunkly lizard last time i drew this one, they were an lps shitpost, so its nice to like draw them normally lol
MARCH herman is running out of time glasses axolotl but make him neon idk
APRIL fancy calico i honestly dont know whats up with the clothes, i just kinda drew whatever tbh
MAY yippie!! toontown oc! was playing ttcc w/shard and co, this is the character i ended up making i also got covid around april-march iirc so i was feeling horrid for a while (and the remaining symptoms didnt clear up till like june)
JUNE an oc i got years ago but didnt have the confidence to draw for a while lmao anyways i like her colors and shape, she's fun
JULY mandatory artfight posting this was one of the last ones i did! ocs belong to聽pookapooka聽and they were so fun to paint
idk if ill be doing artfight again tbh. ive been doing it consistently since sun vs moon but its honestly felt less fun ever since the tiktok invasion`and how ppls behavior has changed, and especially since the whole ownership thing that happened mid fight this year. (not interested in any of the alternatives ive seen either bc they have the same issues, notably worse issues, or are not furry friendly) but tbh that might just be me being disenchanted with online art spaces due to the intensifying shittification of basically everything,聽fucking rip
AUGUST ring but hes going to jail (again but for real this time) the staxie monthly prompt was barbie mugshots but i . . . i did this with ring and lumos and promptly forgor to do this with cakes and ale like i was planning to lmfao im actually gonna watch the barbie movie tonight, renting it so i can watch it on the big tv (didnt watch in theaters bc expensive (movie tickets are generally 15-25 bucks in my area (compared to the 5-10 in my aunt's area (renting is cheaper per person)), and they changed the chairs to these weird uncomfy pleather recliners that make my skin crawl to "justify the price raise" + i hate sitting for more than an hour i need water, bathroom, stretch, and snack breaks))
SEPTEMBER ganache went over the hedge was very busy w/projects so i did little casual art this was inspired by me comparing the over the hedge version of supermarket by聽ben folds聽(upbeat & high energy) vs the one by聽the clash聽(melancholy + commercial-induced agony) ever since then i cant stop thinking abt how much the lemon demon guy's voice sounds like the fucking clash guy sdjkhfkjsd also over the hedge was one of my favorite movies as a kid and i watched it at least 10 times before we had to return the dvd to netflix. i also regularly played the flash games on the site until i forgot about it after finding out about miniclip + notdoppler from other kids and decided to use those for flash games instead bc more options lol
OCTOBER dta img for a new oc i got, funny long neck budgie thingy busy w/projects again so little casual art had to use old mini tablet bc previous tablet was completely unusable fucking rip
NOVEMBER ganache + cactus pony, they want to know if you have any bubblegum. do you? busy w/projects again so little casual art doodle i made in heavypaint (one of the old layerless versions, i bought a lisence for it a while ago.) i got a new tablet on black friday since the mini tablet was horrible + my broken tablet was making me work very slow
DECEMBER ring in the void (this is lore accurate) or as nic put it, "fucked up twilight sparkle" lol busy w/projects + gifts so little casual art i actually sketched this w/the mini tablet, but didnt finish it up till getting the new tablet
---
for reading this far, you get to see amogus.
i would've put amogus whisper on the chart but decided against it since im not done with that one yet lmao

Here鈥檚 how I鈥檝e improved this year! I always feared I hadn鈥檛 made progress, but comparing January to December I can see that I鈥檝e had a massive upgrade.
Sorry that some aren鈥檛 aligned the same, I had to chop up some of these pieces to make em fit(looking at you, 1010 AUs)
Here鈥檚 a lil explanation of each piece under the cut
January - Val
I drew this for a member of the club I鈥檓 in, unfortunately he disappeared the next school year. Those arms are a yikes 馃槵
February - Security breach Ocs
These guys are a pair of fnaf ocs I made, I wasn鈥檛 really in the fandom at the time so you can imagine that I didn鈥檛 use them a lot, and eventually forgot about them
March - Long ass 1010 au drawing
I didn鈥檛 enjoy making this piece. I was still adjusting to procreate, and I also decided to somewhat render it, so that led to not a great time. I am proud of it tho, cuz I still think it looks okay 馃憤
April - Djss 1010 swap
This was a part of a series that I dreaded and cancelled because I couldn鈥檛 mentally handle it. I feel that this piece got kinda butchered by the interpolation of tumblr.
May - writing class poster
This was a movie poster I made for my writing class, it鈥檚 for a story we wrote based off of a image prompt. I had to censor my name
June - Old Wallux references
Old Wallux is a world I don鈥檛 think I鈥檝e talked about here, mainly because I never really expanded on it. But here are some characters I made for it.
July - Artfight piece
I may had joined artfight last minute, but I really enjoyed it. It was weirdly relaxing since I didn鈥檛 feel like I had to meet my own standards, so I was free to explore and experiment with my art. I know that sounds backwards to some people, but it鈥檚 how I felt. This was my favorite piece out of the 13 I made in that week
August - month long bugsnax drawing challenge
I tried to complete this challenge, but I鈥檝e always sucked at month long art challenges like inktober, huevember, or mermay. So this was one of the last ones I did, I believe.
September - Lenn Drystone
I made this piece bc I decided to draw the more main characters officially, since I had already completed drawings for the rival characters. I do like how he looks, and he is wearing pants underneath the cut so shut up about nakedness.
October - Dnd party piece
This was when I finished the party drawing after adding a few more characters to it. Their names are gord(shark) and cult(green elf)
November - Marx drawing
I found a dress on pinterest and wanted to draw Marx in it, so I did. Not much else to say.
December - Sora reference, outfit pose
This is part of a series of drawings I鈥檓 doing for the Noble elements. I am currently working on Meren.

My 2022 summary of art!
Blank
I haven't really been consistently posting my art anywhere for the past year or two, but I figured I might as well still do a summary of art since I like doing them.
I was reluctant to put any arpg stuff on here since that's generally just doodles, but I ended up having to since I was so busy with 3D modeling some months that I didn't have any other completed pieces from those months to show.
Full images and commentary below the cut! It's long.
JANUARY
Herman reading a book (about making soup)
I like this one bc of the pink color
FEBRUARY
Spring fern, my beloved
This was just going to be a quick doodle, but I ended up adding some rim lighting just cause
MARCH
Gale!
The sketch is from some point in 2021, but I didn't clean it up or color till later on in 2022 so I'm counting this drawing for this year lol
I realized that I haven't finished many drawings of her so I decided to fix that with this one.
APRIL
More Spring fern!
This time, surrounded by fern-like palm trees. Because ferns.
I liked choosing the colors for this one a lot
MAY
Whisper, but she's a merfolk instead of a scalie (Whisper is normally an axolotl)
In peak irony, one of my rare humanoid drawings was the only piece I felt like posting to my FA
I'm pretty sure this is the first time I actually tried doing mermay, so this gets to go on the list too (got 2 drawings in before I got bored and quit)
JUNE
Strudel flash prompt that I drew quickly
I wasn't digging the set of many sequential but connected prompts, which is why I ended up going for a different look.
Which reminds me, I don't think I've logged into toyhouse for a while now so there's probably a bunch of missed connections since I put a bunch of characters UFT. Will fix that later!
JULY
Ah, good ol' artfight month.
I liked how this drawing of several of Nul's forms turned out the best, so this drawing gets the spotlight for this month. (Nul and all variants belong to @kitsicles)
I had a stye in my better eye for a noteworthy part of this month, so I couldn't draw as well as I wanted to and ended up simplifying high effort pieces because of that.
AUGUST
Bobby the alchemist
bottom text
(didn't finish any noteworthy personal art, so arpg art goes here)
SEPTEMBER
GG Marzi on the run
bottom text
(again, no noteworthy personal art finished, so arpg it is)
OCTOBER
Software test of Rebelpaint, and I like it a lot. Exactly what I wanted!
Tbh I liked this a lot more than anything else I finished this month, so it gets to go here. Funny ocean creacher indeed.
NOVEMBER
Vix and Whisper
I was really busy, so my favorite thing was a meme drawover I did with some OCs. 500% cannon to their oc lore.
DECEMBER
I was initially going to put the deer, but remembered that I actually drew it last year and just colored it this year because I forgot about it until I was digging thru my files for mostly complete wips.
So instead, I'm putting this partially complete drawing of Ring I was working on
It's not done, but it's complete enough to count for this year imo.
---
For reading this far, you get to see a very incorrect coloration of blizz
Here's to a [hopefully] better 2023!
#summary of art#2022 summary of art#my art#not doing proper organization tags since I'll do those when I post the pieces individually sometime later#oc art
