"Crimson?" Kirishima mumbled as you both strolled up to the entrance of the shelter.

"What was that babe?" You ask.

"Oh I was just thinking what we could name the pup." He smiled at you, that gorgeous beaming smile you adored so much, as he opened the door to the shelter for you.

"After you my dear" He bowed dramatically as you giggled, grabbing his hand and dragging him through the door after you.

You were quickly greeted by a lovely older woman who introduced herself as one of the owners of the shelter. She began to lead you both down a row of cages, holding various dogs and cats. Eijiro gripped your hand tightly as he beamed, watching you listen to the lady intently, as she explained all the info about the various dogs. Age, breed, temperament, things like that.

But Eijiro wasn't really listening, all he could do was focus on you, and just how beautiful you looked when you were excited.

You dropped your boyfriends hand momentarily (much to his disappointment) to reach out through the door of one of the enclosures and gently allow one of the dogs to sniff your hand, and petting it gently on the head before moving on to the next one.

As you continued to walk, you reached back to grab Eijiros hand once again but couldn't find it. Turning around you see your boyfriend reading one of the signs next to an enclosure intently.

"That's our oldest resident" The owner of the shelter smiles as she notices which pen Kirishima stopped in front of.

"Been in here for 3 years now" She added as you both walked back to join your boyfriend next to the enclosure. At first you thought the enclosure was empty, until you saw him, sitting, curled up on the tiny dog bed in the corner.

A frail and scared chihuahua.

You started to read the blurb on the side of the enclosure that your boyfriend was so engrossed in. It told the story of this little creature, who had been hit by a car a few years ago and surrendered to the shelter when the owners didn't care to pay the vet bills. You could feel your heart shatter in your chest as you looked at the tiny creature in front of you.

"Can we go say hi to it?" Eijiro asked the shelter employee, his voice softer than usual, as if he didn't want to stress out the poor pup anymore than it already was.

"Of course" She smiled, walking forward to open the door to the enclosure. "Not many folks are interested in our little Scarlet, most people dont come to shelters for older dogs so the poor thing gets overlooked" She spoke sadly as she allowed you both to enter the enclosure. "I'll give you a bit of time to get to know her, just come get me if you need anything" She smiled before walking back down the hall to the office.

Eijiro stepped foward slowly, before crouching down to sit himself on the floor next to the tiny pup.

"Hi Scarlet" Kirishima whispered gently as he reached his hand out, allowing the skittish dog to sniff, before ever so gently beginning to pat the dog on its small head.

"I thought you told me in the car you wanted a 'big, manly dog" You teased as you crouched down next to your boyfriend and the tiny dog, joining them both on the floor.

Kirishima gently scooped Scarlet up and held her tiny body ever so gently in his arms against his muscular frame.

"I don't know, I think surviving a car accident and being all alone for 3 years, and still allowing a stranger to pet you is pretty damn manly if you ask me" He smiled down at the tiny dog, his eyes full of nothing by love and admiration.

God you love this man, no other man could be so strong, so kind and yet so gentle all at the same time, towards every living creature.

"Plus, with a name like Scarlet, I suppose its just meant to be" You smiled, snuggling up next to your boyfriend and reaching out to slowly stroke the small dog in his arms. The dog seemed visibly more calm than when you had first seen him and you felt yourself fall in love with the poor creature every second you spent with it.

"I think this is the one honey" He murmured to you, not taking his eyes off the pup.

"Yea, me too" You smile.

So just like that, you signed the paperwork and walked out of the shelter. You had expected to be leaving with a large Terrier or Retriever or maybe even German Sheppard in tow, but instead you cradled a sleeping Chihuahua in your arms as you headed home, your family having grown by one tiny creature.

You knocked on your boyfriends office door softly.

"Come on in love" You heard his chair wheel away from his desk as he called out to you happily.

"I'm not interrupting am I?" You asked as you walked into the office, stacked high with Crimson Riot memorabilia and workout equipment. In your arms you cradled Scarlet, you knew how much Kiri loved to see her when he was working.

"Interrupting? My favorite person in the world, bringing me my favorite animal in the world could never be interrupting" He smiled as he planted a kiss on Scarlets fluffy forehead, before pulling you into his lap and kissing you softly.

"Now what could I help you with baby?" He asked, resting his chin on your shoulder as he held tightly to your waist.

"Just wanted to show you something" You giggled as you pulled up an article you had just seen on a hero gossip magazine.

"Look at this" You clicked on an article, a large photo of Kirishima out walking Scarlet that must have been taken by paparazzi recently splashed across the screen with the headline:

Weekend Update 03/10/2024

Made it another week Nerdie.

That I did. I believe today is Sunday. Too much time in this chair. I think I slept in it before. Too many times.

I do, I don't always make it there. I've usually zoned out and nodded off, the wake up when my neck hurts. 👀 I'm not always writing either, just thinking sometimes.

Couldn't you think in bed Nerdie?

I could, but I don't. That sounds like a good idea. My ideas aren't always great. But I did have a few this week.

My March Spring Prompts continue. I was able to do ten of them without repeating a character! 🤗 This upcoming week we'll see some Pedro peeps come back. Key words: gas station sushi, angst, oil and bath. Remember this is Nerdie 😎, it could be any and everything, but my prompts are mature and not explicit. I do write about some heavy subjects, fluff, a few giggles, and have some innuendos, but my main masterlist is 78% smut so just go there.

The WIP I’d been mentioning for the last few weeks or months (could be either) is finished and posted : Diddle your Dieter to Disco. My first Dieter smut actually which is hilarious at least to me. 🤣 The rest of his Masterlist is fairly fluffy. I would check the warnings on it, I put a lot in it. 👀

🍓 how did you get into writing fanfiction?

My first (very bad, very cringe) foray was between releases of OotP, HBP, and DH. Back then I was writing Marauders as well as 7th Year for the Golden Trio and a post-Hogwarts fic called "Friends" in which Harry, Ron, and Hermione lived together in Grimmauld Place 🥲

🍇How many fandoms have you written in?

Just HP!

🍈 How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

I mean, I went through the early childhood fanfic phase that lasted 1-2 years, but then I didn't write again until picking it up in 2020 as an adult. So really, only about 4 years now of writing consistently, and maybe 6 years total in my life.

🍎 Do you read or write more fanfiction?

I also definitely write way more than I read. Mostly this is a product of limited time—writing is a creative outlet for me, and when I have the time for it, that's usually what I reach for.

🍌 What is one way you've improved as a writer?

I think I've improved a lot with descriptions and vocabulary. Like for example, with revising LFTS and ES, there's been so many moments where I find myself just intuitively taking a sentence or small exchange or small paragraph, and expanding it into something that is just a better portrayal of that moment? It's hard to explain, but when I do the side-by-side comparison, it feels more elevated, and I think that's going back to improving on writing descriptions of what's happening that feel more fluid.

🍑 Do you have any bad habits as a writer?

Oof okay not sticking to a solid writing routine resonated with me too, that's definitely something I'm trying to be better at but it's hard!! Also a major bad habit for me is focusing too much on word count and setting unrealistic expectations for what I can accomplish in certain amounts of time. I've had to do a lot of mindset work to adjust to the fact that some of my old methods were unhealthy and unsustainable, and simply aren't realistic with making writing fit into my current, healthier lifestyle. But it's hard! Old habits and mindsets are ingrained and so tempting to default to. Like I've tried using daily word count goals several times, and it's always a trap. One would think I've learned my lesson, ha!

🍍 What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

Hmm nothing's really coming to mind as being particularly "weird." I do ping @redrobyn285 and @welsh-green about Britishisms from time to time, and that often sparks funny conversations about cultural differences. Like for example, we recently had a very in-depth conversation about terminology for dorm rooms and different sizes of beds 🤣 But in all seriousness, I learn a lot from them and owe so much of the Evans family lore to their input!

🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

The play-by-play reactions are my absolute fave! It's so gratifying and fun, especially when there's suspense and tension involved in the story and you feel like you're bonding with the commenter through the shared experience of all the emotions happening.

🍐What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

Hmm Castling was pretty fringe, I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read, but I'm not aware of any other Jily fics dealing with ~that~. But besides that, I don't think anything on my current slate is that fringe tbh. I've mostly been writing Hogwarts Jily lately, and that's pretty vanilla as far as tropes go. But I do have some adult!Jily in my back pocket that have some more fringe tropes for me 👀

🥭What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

Angst. Hands down. I think because I'm an empath, dwelling in dark emotions for a story can be really difficult for me. Probably the angstiest scene I've ever written is the opening scene of Vindicated, and there's a reason that's only like 800 words ��

🍏What is the easiest type?

Rom-com style fluff and smut! I'm such a sucker for all the classic sexual-tension builders: bantering, jealousy, flirting, a little sprinkle of comedy, pining, awkwardness. It makes me giggle and kick my feet while writing, and it puts me in a happy mood every time I'm writing it, which is probably why I'm addicted to it 😇

🍑Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

Scrivener! I'm at a point now where I've learned enough of its functionality that I truly can't imagine ever going back. It's my fave. I also use Notion religiously for my whole life, and that includes fanfic, but I don't actually write in Notion unless I'm jotting down ideas on my phone or brain-dumping an idea that doesn't have a Scrivener doc yet.

🍋What is something you've been too nervous/ intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

Domestic/Pregnant/Parent Jily. For the simple reason that I haven't experienced being pregnant/having kids yet and I feel like a fish out of water trying to write it because I don't know what I'm talking about 😂

🍇What made you choose your username?

I don't really remember the whole thought process anymore, but I love the musician/DJ Gryffin and was listening to some of his first album a lot in formulating ES, I am very much a Gryffindor, and also wanted something short, sweet, catchy that would be easy for people to remember and spell. And honestly I think missgryffin just popped into my head at some point after that!

I just finished reading cbmthy after finding it this morning and I think it's safe to say this is the best fanfic i've read omg .I usually don't read angst but THIS ,this changed my whole perspective.

The storyline is so well thought,your writing style is so unique and captivating and the way it makes you feel all the raw emotions the reader is going through ,it's honestly perfect,never stop writing ,you are absolutely amazing💞

I can't wait to see where this goes cause it hurts so good ,i'm curious though about the illness reader mentioned she used to have as a mortal,was she referring to the depression or is it something that will come back later?

Also ,when you described her powers, especially her state after the outburst,my first thought went to that one video that's like "when a massive star runs out of fuel, gravity causes to collapse on itself and explode.Entire galaxies are outshined by the death of one star,a supernova" i was basically seeing it in my head .

And just cause I'm petty ,i hope at some point in the future ,Az will be screaming ,crying,throwing up,begging on his hands and knees when he realizes he fumbled the bag lmao.Maybe reader hits him back with the "you think you deserve me???" though with how in love she is i know it likely won't happen,a girl can dream

Oh my gosh I adore those videos so much, I love that you thought of that audio too! 🧡💛 I don’t understand space at all but those clips of the universe and getting to see star matter and how similar some things look to human irises or DNA is so fascinating 😩 I think I actually have a clip of that audio saved in my cbmthy folder, too! I think visually reader’s magic looks similar to some of the things shown in those types of videos? I’ve always pictured the green glowy stuff as kind of similar to the northern lights? With that kind of radiant glow and slightly soft but wavy? This is all for visual reference though :)

the actual last thing was me reminding myself that i lent a friend a book (ninth house, if anyone’s curious) but the last fic related note i jotted down was written two days ago at like. 3am and it simply reads, “LT inspired au: gem = vanja, pearl = ragne???” (kudos to anyone who catches what i’m referencing)

in my experience, there are two main types of writer’s block, generally: there’s the “your body is rebelling against the idea of creativity bc you haven’t eaten or drank in ten hours or you’ve been criminally overworking yourself,” in which case, the fix is just… a break and self care. then there’s the “brain will not write/generate ideas for seemingly no reason,” which is about 10x more annoying to work around but usually i either table whatever i’m struggling to work on and work on smth else (hence why my google drive is a Monster lmfao), get my brain warmed up by rereading and sometimes editing a finished fic, or doing this trick i learned in english class ages ago and just. writing all my thoughts in a list format until my brain spits out a new idea or decides it’s ready to actually write.

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

A lot of my headcanons are hobby-adjacent, I'm realizing. My favorite one for Sam is that he's the kind of person who likes to work with his hands, and particularly enjoys tinkering with mechanical things. I know we canonically see him working on Redwing and the boat, but I firmly believe that if he was unable to channel his energy into superheroing, he'd be taking apart toasters and wall clocks trying to make them work better. I've worked it into lots of fics and I firmly stand by it!

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

I'm gonna be honest, bud; it has been a rough time for WIPs around these parts and that's not likely to change, given that Ramadan is coming up and I usually don't have the energy to write then.

All I can offer you is this excerpt from a silly installment of the Formula 1 AU, which has been put on pause until my ability to write returns from the war

“There’s finally a real bed here and you have to leave for the airport at 6 AM tomorrow,” Bucky says, shucking off his t-shirt and flinging it towards a random corner of the room. “Take your pants off already, Wilson; the clock is ticking.” But Sam does not, in fact, take his pants off. He doesn’t even stand up. He stays exactly where he is, surrounded by an objectively stupid amount of throw pillows with his reading glasses perched on his nose. And then he smirks, reaches for the hoodie that Bucky abandoned a little while ago, and puts on an extra layer. Bucky blinks. Sam blinks back. The reading glasses are crooked from how quickly he pulled on the hoodie and it’s kind of adorable. “Seriously?” “Oh, was I supposed to be wooed by that?” asks Sam, straightening his glasses. “Efficiency is supposed to get me going?” “You made out with me in the backseat of the truck just for streamlining a grocery list.” “That was forever ago.” “That was last week.”

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

I think useful writing advice is SO dependent on what type of person/writer you are, but here's a few things that I think would be broadly applicable.

Save your scraps! An issue that I had when I first started writing and still deal with to this day is the impulse to just delete everything when a piece of writing isn't working out the way I want it to. I've learned now to just move that writing into a separate document where I keep all the fic scraps I've written that haven't really fit into a story. It's made me a better writer because now I don't spend all my time trying desperately to make a section of the story work with the rest of my idea, just so the time I spent writing it won't go to waste. I'm much more willing to cut something and if I know I won't lose it forever, and a lot of the time those extra bits of writing come in handy later on.

Trust your instincts. Write about the characters and emotions and experiences that interest you, no matter how wildly self-indulgent they are or how many other people have written the same thing. It's not magically going to mean you have no issues while writing, but it's a whole lot easier to work through a roadblock in your story when you care about what you're writing. (And the truth is that if you write about something you feel lukewarm about, all the kudos and comments in the world aren't going to make you feel less lukewarm about it. It'll always just be kind of meh, so you might as well chase the concepts you care about.)

Read widely. I was a mimic before I ever figured out what my own writer's voice sounded like, and I still shamelessly lift structures or turns of phrase from my favorite authors. I know we all go through times where it's just hard to get through books, but there's always poetry or essays or articles or even narrative podcasts if that's more your thing. Seeing other people do things with words is a really helpful way to mine information or inspiration, but it also helps you figure out what you like and don't like in writing, which makes it easier to figure out how to write things in a way that's satisfying to you.

Set aside a regular time for writing or thinking about writing. This is a skill I literally just picked up last year and it's the only reason I've managed to write the fics I did. Every chapter of the Bake Off AU was worked out during a little chunk of time that I had on Tuesdays where I would sit down at a coffee shop and outline things (by hand, because working with my computer was distracting) or make notes on dialogue/write up sections for the media interludes. Before that, my writing time used to be in bed before I went to sleep, making notes or adding a sentence to a doc on my phone. Even if it's just five minutes at a set time just once a week, if you do it enough, your brain will get into the habit of it. I still feel the itch to sit down and write on Tuesdays at 11, even when I'm in a slow period for writing. It's a nice way to remember that writer's block and packed out days don't last forever, and I'll find my way back to storytelling when my brain gets the time.

do you enjoy fanfic/RPF: absolutely. i did that "must read some fics to see if it's worth getting into" thing i usually do with shows 💀 i do think it shouldn't be shared and pushed onto the drivers themselves though like pls don't be weird about it

how do you view new fans?: as possible new friends! considering i've only been into it properly for like a year now i'm basically a new fan and i love seeing people who are only just joining for this season it's so fun!

if you could take over as team principal for any team, who would it be and why?: see i wanna say williams bc i just wanna protect logan but like... i'm obsessed with the f1 manager 22 game (as in i'm on year 2032 atm and still going) and have been with ferrari from the get go soooo- ferrari is my home (but also i'm so sorry fred ily pls share custody)

are your friends and family into f1 as well?: i got my little brother into it simply by constantly yapping about it. that poor boy went from "it's just cars going in circles" to "lando is my baby and i will protect him!" in a matter of WEEKS. also my bestie @prettylittlealiengirl is an f1 lifer and she's recently joined me in the pits of the brainrot. we love to see it 🙏

🍓 how did you get into writing fanfiction?

Oof okay, so like I wrote my first fanfiction without knowing what fanfiction was. I just wanted to in Totally Spies! I think I discovered FFN around 2010 when I started watching Glee and spent too much time on Omegle.

I mentioned liking a certain ship and someone suggested I'd find a fic, could not find what I wanted and started writing it myself.

🍇How many fandoms have you written in?

Give or take 8, though I only published for three and two of those got purged in the great FFN purge. Okay, 9 if you count the fact that I used to write fanfics for my own band.

🍈 How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

14 years! Not counting my self-insert Totally Spies! and the 'original fiction' that was just HSM fanfic. I did take a long break from anything fandom because I thought I needed have 'normal' interests.

🍎 Do you read or write more fanfiction?

Write, mostly because I have troubles concentrating on reading since before returning to fandom and they just don't make Podfics of the stuff I actually want to read.

🍌 What is one way you've improved as a writer?

I think I was a better writer back when I was 17, but I recently learned how to write smut and am not terrible at it. I am still, and will likely always be aggressively mid. And I have peace with that.

🍑 Do you have any bad habits as a writer?

No, I am perfect. I have no habits like reusing the same tropes, not making notes, signing up for too many fests or using my writing as escapism. I also have a phenomenal balance in writing and getting other things done. 👀👀

🍍 What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

Not weird but very specific. I researched if Greggs had stores in Oxfordshire in 1986. Maybe weird.

🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?

Any comment, honestly. Just people reading my work and enjoying it enough to leave a little note makes my day. One of my favourites is someone having commented: Encouragement! on a fic for a ship I know they're not into.

That and live reaction. I live for those!

🍐What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

Fringe? IDK I have a Ren Faire AU going rn. That is a little niche. I once wrote a little micro around a primal kink scene.

🥭What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

The words, for sure. Especially the middle part of anything.

🍏What is the easiest type?

Dialogue. I used to roleplay a lot. (Still have a steady one now) and that really thrives on dialogue.

🍑Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

Google docs. Usually at my desk or in class. I have, from time to time, written a plunny straight into Tumblr in response to a post.

🍋What is something you've been too nervous/ intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

I don't really do a lot of angst because I feel that I am lacking. But I do actually do it. I just don't know if I rise to the occasion. I think the big thing for me would be canon compliance. I am an AU girlie through and through.

As a kid, I used to be obsessed with Sherlock Holmes and it is a reference to His Last Bow.

About the fanfic trope ask game, I think I need to ask for Time-Travel 👀

There's of course the Time-Travel Fix-it (which I think is the most prevalent type?) but also the Time Loop subcategory... 🤔👀

Time travel's an interesting one because it's more prevalent in some fandoms than others. My three main "fanfic" fandoms over the years were LOTR, BBC Sherlock, and the MCU, with small doses of Dishonored (a video game) and Harry Potter.

Of those five, the time travel trope seems most prevalent in the MCU. I imagine it's definitely around in Harry Potter, but I didn't encounter it too much as most of my HP stuff was with crossovers. But generally speaking, I didn't have much experience with time travel until the MCU. The closest it came to in LOTR was reincarnations in the modern world (a couple of which were just awesome... I need to find those stories again and see if they were as good as my memory thinks they were. Sort of afraid to look deeper into it just in case I end up disappointed though).

Anyway!

A lot with tropes are less about the trope itself and more about its execution. I don't tend to comb AO3 for tropes or pairings, but characters instead, for instance. But when I see this tag on a Stephen-centric fic, I'm usually really interested. I only duck out if it's a "Tony's the center of the universe and he's never wrong" piece, which unfortunately accompanies this trope fairly often. Where the fuck are my time-travel Avengers as Family fix-it pieces, people? And yes, I mean *all* of the OG! Stephen's just now a part of them.

(They exist in very small numbers, which is why I'm writing one myself, once my current series is finished. Expect it around 2026 at my current rate of writing.)

I'll take both the time loop and time-travel categories. Again it's totally about execution rather than the trope itself.

Some favorites include:

The asker's own fucking masterpiece, which must be finished if you want me to live a happy and healthy life, no pressure.

Born Of The Same Impulse by GwendolynStacy (she only wrote Stephen like, once, and I just thank God that she decided to do so as this is still in my top 3 long fics to this day)

By the End of Today by Imagined (here's an author I hope is inspired to come back to the MCU one of these days - one of my favorite "wrote more than a couple MCU fics" authors, but alas, she's been devoured by another fandom)

Shout out as well to The End of Infinity by FriendlyNeighborhoodFangirls for being an over 900,000 word time-travel IronStrange fix it, combined with Team as Family dynamics. It's honestly too long for me to read fully but I've skimmed it and it's good if you like the tropes it presents. I might read it in full once it's finished (yeah, it's *not finished*), but for now it's a bit too much. Her shorter works are good, too--and a wee bit more manageable haha. Recommended.

There are a couple newer IronStrange WIPs that I want to add here, but they haven't gotten to Steve Rogers and the Accords yet, so I'm waiting to see how the authors handle that. Neither of them are tagged "not Steve friendly" currently, but if say that Steve was trying to kill Tony in Siberia and terribly wounded him in their version of canon and left him to die, I'm gonna politely ask that they add the not Steve friendly tag and be very sad that they went that... let's say fanon route. So we'll see. (And yes, I have an excellent essay on why that's not canonical for Steve and thus not Steve friendly, thanks for asking ;-) ).

But yeah. That's all about time travel and the slight rant that accompanies it.

12. Do you outline your fics?  If yes, how detailed are your outlines?  How far do you stray from them?

It's an even fifty-fifty. I outline my fics when I begin to have a lot of plot elements, narrative threads or allegorical references I want to work into it - if I don't, I'm liable to forget something relatively important and have to either shoehorn that thread in later, or do the Edit Of Shame where I go back and include something as a throwaway line. If you're curious as to what they look like, here's an example from when I was working on Formulas Fatal To the Flesh:

Some of these beats ended up in the final cut, while others didn't. I usually try to break it down based on "okay, what is The Moment I want Character X and Character Y to have together" and from there I build backwards and forwards. How they got there and where it takes them - I'll often keep a "scrap heap" of ideas or lines of dialogue (especially with Zemi since I entertain the fuck outta myself with writing her inane bullshit one-liners) on a spare sheet somewhere that I will pull from to weave into the story. This does look a bit like a mad scientist's scrawlings, and I like it that way! My trick is to outline and be thorough about it but not get too rigid. This is why I typically only plan fics in chunks at a time, with general ideas of where I want the story to go. Stories morph and evolve as one writes them, and I am the type who KNOWS that if I make the outline too demanding and rigid I'll get all up my own ass about it. Outlining too hard and trying too viciously to stick to it tends to shoot me in the foot so I avoid it.

Additionally, I particularly enjoy structuring stories based on conversations. Dialogue is often the first thing I write, and the rest comes after that. This comes from my background studying theatre - a thespian scholar bitch like me knows better than anybody that you can build a whole world around little more than a few words between two characters, so I like to let the rest of the work bloom from that organically. Not always, but these are common methods I use.

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process?  How do you come up with titles?

Fuck yeah so glad somebody asked this one. I develop titles for chapters after I'm done writing them. I make it a point to title pretty much EVERY CHAPTER I WRITE for everything I've written publicly so far based on the title of a death metal track or album. I'll branch out into other genres like black metal and whatnot but I try to stick to death metal specifically. This mostly comes from my personal annoyance that there's so little decent media content based on extreme metal. Part of why I love Hellsing so much is just based on the fact I think it gets the closest to the aesthetic of the deepest bowels of extreme metal in its art style, themes, visuals, and so on. So when I need a new title, I deadass will just leaf through my music catalogue and pick a title I think fits the themes of the chapter in some allegorical sense - ditto for the little lyrical blurbs I put at the front of each chapter. Is it corny? Fuck yeah, man, but so am I. Sometimes I just say "fuck it, I'll put TWO songs names in the title, who will stop me?" When it comes to the entire fic titles, I put more thought into it and play process of elimination until I settle on one I think rolls off the tongue best. See: Formulas Fatal to the Flesh (Morbid Angel), Lesions of A Different Kind (Undeath), etc.

69. What are your favorite fics at the moment?

Aw shit man, puttin' me on the spot as I've been off my fic reading game for a minute but I'll plug what I can remember!

First off, shout out to the homie @neet0 with their work Revelations. Absolutely love this piece, I reread chapters from it a lot and feel like I learn something new about writing every time.

I'm also really into this My Hero Academia fic, In The End (We Are Left Bereft). Only halfway through, and some of the elements may not be for me personally, but first of all, anything that examines Bakugo as a closeted trans woman is gonna make me come running because I just ADORE that as a concept. Second, the issues this take on Bakugo deals with regarding identity and belonging, being touch-starved and alienated, etc? A bitch relates, what can I say. Good MHA fics are so hard to find in my experience so this one has been a delight to read thus far.

I also eat up almost everything that BirdOfHermes ever does. Because, listen mate, sometimes a bitch just wants that sweet, sweet cheesy wish fulfillment with fictional men. That, and their writing is so easy to read for me that it hooks me into stories about characters from series I haven't even watched or read. Never thought Harry Dresden would be hot to me, but, oops, they made it happen. Also, forever awaiting the glorious day they decide to finish Tame. One of my favorite Alucard/Reader fics of all time, I've reread it probably a dozen times by now.

Beyond this, I've been in a bit of a fic rut as of late, so if you got recs, send them my way!

I'm Turkish, Umay is the name of a goddess of fertility in Turkic mythology and Tengrism and as such related to women, mothers, and children. Umay resembles earth-mother goddesses found in various other world religions. Asya is plainly the continent of Asia, although my mom named me Asya because she heard it in an old Turkish movie and liked the way it sounded.

My motherland, Turkey is a country that is located majority in Asia and a small part in Europe. Unfortunately, because of some people who are in control of my country, it has almost turned into a Middle Eastern country. I have said before that I plan to study abroad, and this was one of the main reasons. And because there is high inflation, too many immigrants, a problematic education system, injustice, and a lack of safety of one's life (especially women and children). And because of all those people who voted for that particular candidate despite our country being in such a terrible situation... I feel like there's a social corruption in progress here. It makes me very depressed that my beautiful motherland has become like this. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of the Republic of Turkey's legacy is not being honored the way it should be. I simply want to live peacefully with a sense of freedom. I may have vented a bit, I apologize.

When it comes to personality types, it's hard to pick a favorite for me. I personally love all the analysts and of course my comrades, the diplomats. I usually get along with them in my daily life. I'm usually more drawn to INTJs romantically. ENFJs too, for sure. But I always found INTJs to be the most charming and enigmatic type. I feel more on a mutual wavelength with INTJs. A sort of common ground and understanding. I used to have an INTJ crush, but I never confessed to him. I felt like I was going to embarrass myself. Which I probably would've made a fool of myself. 😔 I wonder what INTJs think about the INFPs.

As for Toaster-san, I've seen her but I didn't know she was also writing fanfic, I read her latest one and I just LOVED it. I don't know if she's written any others, I'd like to read them if she has, I haven't seen any in her masterlist. I can already tell I'm going to be one of her close followers. I have a Harley Quinn notebook specifically for my Tumblr stories! I outline the story in the notebook first then type out the rough draft and most likely final draft, I DON'T be proofreading all the way, grammarly has spoiled me

BUT sometimes I don't need to outline! I write stories constantly on my phone without outlining it so it really just depends on how I'm feeling

Right now my comfort character is Lucifer Morningstar from Hazbin Hotel 😩😭

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

Of mine???? Honestly, I don't have it posted anywhere bc I'm currently converting it from a script I wrote in college to a short story. Two characters (Azar and Ahriman) develop feelings for each other but one is a princess and the other wants to quite literally take over the planet. I want them to be together SO BAD high-key but reading through it always makes me sad bc they love each other so much but Ahriman said the justice for his people is too important 😩

On top of that, when I do finish the book I wrote the script off of, it'll be after Ahriman ruins his chances of being with Azar altogether (we love a fatherless queen 💅🏼)

Can I just tell you that I am very happy that in smut fanfics Marinette is the more dominant? Don't know why, but almost all of the smut books I read (not fanfic) they always portray the dude being the one who is in control. I'm okay with dirty talking except ninety percent it's the guy. So reading fics where Marinette is the one who's more dominant and is usually more interested in dirty talking makes me happy. Also Adrien def has a praise kink, plus he's the type of guy to like being tied, if you know what I mean. 👀

Sjskskjaks yeah I know Adrien most definitely has praise kink, I don't know what was the first fic where I read that but that has to be canon without any doubt, and I also think he IS kinky but more of a "I want kinky stuff to be done to me" rather him being the dominant one. I actually talked about this earlier and many people agreed 🤣. I think Marinette would want to be the one on the bottom, like Adrien to be in charge but to be the sweet gentle guy he is but she would also try to fulfil his kinky desires.

What do you like in particular about this fandom? I'm practically brand new to this fandom as a creator, but I really enjoy fics with DD interacting with the defenders or the punisher. (Hopefully we'll see more with the recent MCU news! 👀) I'm generally not a shipper in any of my fandom interests but I will still read and enjoy good content regardless of my personal preferences for creating <3

Of course, I am here for Matt 😂 He's basically one of my all time favourite characters now, and he carved that spot out after I saw only a single episode…which I think is the fastest I've ever latched on to a character in my life.

Do you like participating in fan events? Absolutely! I'm a more active participant in the Final Fantasy fandom (particularly for FFXV) and have been a part of big bang (as an artist), along with contributing art and merch for several fanzines, modding several and running one of my own, all of which was a LOT of fun. I am also a regular con attendee, though not in the last couple of years, but hopefully again soon! I need to dust off my cosplay skills.

What about your creating process? I have basically been fused to a pair of headphones since I was 7 years old and do everything to a playlist. If I don't have music blasting away it's too easy to get distracted, so it's the best way for me to zone out and focus in on my work (favourites include mostly soundtracks, QOTSA, NIN, Coldplay, Garbage and Ladytron). Otherwise it's pretty straightforward…I tend to get an idea that wont leave, and just glue myself to my iPad until it's done, day and night. Usually culminating in me going to bed at 4am.

In terms of my creative history, I was an artistic kid but I stopped creating for a various number of reasons during college (I'm in the UK, so that's age 16-18) right up until I finished my undergraduate masters in 2016…and it wasn't until I started my PhD that I realised I needed a good stress outlet and picked it back up again…so given the time I lost, I've been trying to be productive with my time and hone my painting skills. My favourite sort of work is the old religious renaissance works so I really want to reach that level of artistry with understanding lighting and accomplishing realism, but keeping textures and brushstrokes. I'm working mostly digitally as it's definitely a cheaper way to learn, but if I can paint something amazing on canvas one day I'll be thrilled. I have a lot of influences, so sometimes I'll see a work by someone and get inspired to try a totally different colouring style, but my best works tend to come back to my strongest influence.

Do you interact a lot with other fans? In this fandom, I'm basically brand new, but I do a lot of interacting with FFXV fans. We're a small community that's only decreased in size as interest waned after the game's release, so it's pretty easy to sort of know everybody? I am always down for making new friends but tend to need a bit of a push as I often feel like I'm intruding on the cool kid's table when I branch into a new fandom XD My approach is to basically just make content and exist on the fringes waiting to get roped in. I'm a lot more active at talking to people on twitter though so feel free to poke me on there!

Is there any particular piece you'd like to showcase for this post? Probably the second of my Daredevil/Matt Murdock pin trio.

I designed this one and two others (Black outfit(s) and horned S2 outfit) as a set to make into acrylic pins, but I think I'm particularly proud of this one because it took me so long and went through so many revisions…I felt like I was more critical of this artwork than of anything I've done in the last year, including multiple zine pieces 😂

After I finished the first one with the S2 outfit (which was a fun experiment with textures) I was kind of impatient and raced into wanting to paint Matt with no costume, so I forwent any kind of face study and just started sketching and painting using the same palette from the first one, and wow did I have to redo it so much. This trio of DD pieces was both me learning how to draw/paint Charlie Cox, but also a test to see if I could consistently apply the same palette to multiple works of art despite my photo references being all over the place in terms of both colour and lighting. I think it was a success overall, and I learnt a lot from these pieces, including how much I really enjoy painting Charlie Cox 😂

Do you have other fandoms you'd like to talk about? Ah, I float around different circles but Final Fantasy is probably my home base of sorts. Mostly I am really into video games, so my interests lie there a lot (FF, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Detroit Become Human etc). Tolkien's works are another big area of interest for me, but often my interests tend to lie in one-off areas because I am difficult to impress.

I tend to enjoy a wide range of things, and when I fall really hard for a character or series I am compelled to create. I think few characters inspire me enough to form the kind of attachment I have with daredevil now - the last one to do that was Ignis from FFXV, and just a quick skim through my past works will show that I absolutely put that passion into art (and buying merch - I think my bedroom can probably be described as 50% Ignis shrine at this point). What can I say, I love virtuous acrobatic characters with hidden depths, especially when there's a dichotomy to their personality 👀

Is there anything else you want to tell us about yourself? A bit about me, I suppose: I am from the UK and in my early 30s, a recent graduate with a PhD in Observational Astronomy, a threat to all coffee supplies everywhere and a huge fan of philosophy, architecture and politics/law. As a kid I was known for: breaking up fights on the playground, being "the artist" kid and wanting to know literally everything about anything (give me any subject and I will just fall into a pile of books). My academic history is a mess of contradictions because I had no idea what I wanted to do with myself at 16 and I was your stereotypical straight A student with options in everything XD

If there is a Starbucks within a mile of my location, I have probably been there (and bought a mug,). I one day hope to live in a big city because places like London, Tokyo and NYC are architecturally fascinating and 24 hour coffee shops are not a thing in my smaller city XD. I tend to keep a lot of my thoughts private and mostly I live on discord. And I am really into fashion and am as attached to my sunglasses as I am my headphones (though some of that is due to light sensitivity XD). My preferred pronouns are also They/Them, but I am pretty chill about it so no worries if you forget 🙌

I do post a lot of FF art, naturally, because my other love is Ignis. But I can see my hyperfixation on Matt is definitely going to lead to a bunch of art on that side - and I have a few sketch plans in mind for October prompts (probably doing those face studies I neglected too 🤔) So give me a follow if that doesn't bother you!

Also, I talk a lot! Definitely something to note (but you probably guessed that by now!)

A lot of his mannerisms are quintessentially gay twink koo mannerisms according to western standards which most times i find somewhat amusing if not disconcerting to apply western standards to Asian men. That's how we end up thinking all Asian men are gay. Yet I do love me some twink kook compilations too. It's validating in a weird sort of way.

If there are members I used to stereotype as gay a lot it's not Jimin. It's Jk followed by Suga whom I used to read as very queer when I got into the fandom. To this day I'm surprised he says he's not queer with his gay fanfic writing ass. Lol.

If there's anyone that's gonna be gay in a room it's not the loudest person and ten out of ten the secret couple will be the loudest person and the most quiet shy member.

That's as far as stereotyping goes for me.

For Kook, I feel his masculinity is constantly under attack. From the microaggressions within the group to fan comments and locals pulling his billboards down because it promotes homosexuality...

His 'feminine side' isn't well received nor encouraged. It's either complaints of he cries too much as a man, that his preference for feminine cosmetics is weird and perverse, his surbodination to his hyungs means he's a submissive gay man or some backhanded remark about his sexuality.

I don't think it's a case of people not seeing that side of him, it's more so people not feeling comfortable talking about and embracing that side of him.

They do the same thing to Jimin but more so because of his body type than his mannerisms. There is nothing submissive about Jimin's mannerisms. He gives off bad bitch Alpha female goddess energy- if he has a female energy at all.

If he were a girl, he'd be the type I'd gravitate towards to as a fem sub because he'd be to me a fem top. I would pass on Kook if he were a girl because we would both be comitting bottom on bottom crimes and the relationship wouldn't be emotionally fulfilling for me. Lol.

Jimin is nurturing and kind and gentle and that's a consumable form of femininity. Jungkook has those exact qualities too but his body doesn't allow people to consume his brand of femininity. Yet he is often feminized in ways Jimin usually isn't.

It's worse in the shipping community because his conspicuous contrasting fem/masc sides usually means he is often casted as a fuck boy devoid of feelings and emotions incapable of loving and supporting his partner due to his overly masculine look and typical boy behavior or on the other hand, he is seen as a submissive twink who allows others to push him around because they detect a hint of femininity in him.

Both of them are slurred as submissive gay men depending on which pockets of the fandom you dealing with.

But unlike Jimin who goes out of his way to express overtly a feminine side, Jungkook is often effeminated and has femininity forced onto him in an emasculating sort of way.

Jimin is effeminate but not nearly emasculated because of it but JK is.

And that gay limp wrist jokes/slurs bout him is tired🙄
