Please note this is for fanfic. My original fiction process has EVEN MORE STEPS AHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA.

Step 1: Be absolutely overwhelmed with an idea. I know an idea is worth writing when it pesters me enough that it intrudes when I'm doing other things or writing other stories. If it doesn't, I send it to the plot bunny graveyard. Get fucked.

Step 2: Let it cook. That's right. Every idea has to cook a little bit. It decides when it's time for plotting. Sometimes it's an immediate plotting situation, sometimes it cooks for a year or two.

Step 3: Write down some key points. What do I wanna have happen? This is to help me figure out scope. I am much better at looking at an idea and sussing out how long it's gonna be. I categorize it into one of the following categories

Baby (under 3k)

Big Baby (3-5k)

Solid Oneshot (5-10k)

We're pretending this is a one shot (10-17k)

Normal Mult-chap (17k-50k)

Danger zone (50-80k)

Chonky Monster (80k+)

Absolute Unit (150k+)*

*my pet peeve is fics that go on forever when they should have just ended. YOU NEED TO PLOT BETTER. jk it's fanfic do whatever you want.

This step is done partially for fun and partially because it helps me figure out how many beats and scenes I need.

Step 4: I decide on a target word count (I'm good at guessing. I'm usually within 15% of my est wc when I finish) and then I fill out my math sheet that I made while I was bored and unemployed last year. It basically estimates how many scenes I need assuming scenes average at 1200-1500. And then it divides those scenes into acts and then it tells me how many scenes per point in the save the cat outline. 😂 If people want it they have to slide into my dms and ask me nicely + compliment eris and/or beron. Ideally both.

Step 5: Time to fill out the main beats of the outline! Yay! This takes X days, which is to say it takes the time it needs.

Step 5b: If I have multi povs, I do this process for every pov

Step 5c: Then I weave the povs together - which beats can be shared? etc

Step 6: Write out every scene I plan on writing 🫡 I know exactly what's happening and the intended outcome. Yay!

Step 7: Work on something else. This story needs to cook a bit.

Step 8: Come back and see how I feel about the story. Then I do this scene analysis thing where I ensure that my scenes are covering different elements of craft so we are as efficient as possible. If a scene does not accomplish a goal, I yeet it. This is KEY. I'm not gonna type it all out here partially because it's long/complicated and partially cause the mentor who taught me it, asked me to keep it vague since she's worked hard to cultivate her mentorship guidance and process.

Step 9: I make scene tweaks. If my outline has gaps, I cry about it and then radically accept it'll come to me later.

Step 9b: Sometimes I shop the outline around and make revisions based on feedback.

Step 10: Draft. But only when I want to. I don't brute force shit anymore. (I've been writing the full fic first before posting this time around) But yes. Write the full damn first draft. This takes however long it takes.

Step 11: Set it aside and do anything else, ideally not writing related. Watch movies, play games, go to an art museum.

Step 12: Revision time!!! YAY! Read through the entire fic. Write down allllll my horrible little thoughts about it. teehee.

Step 13: Re-outline. Really see what the story actually is. Decide if I need to rewrite anything.

Step 13b: do any necessary rewrites. cry about it1!!

Step 14: Revise POV/ Voice

Step 15: Revise Character

Step 16: Revise Plot again if needed

Step 17: Scene level edits (world building, descriptions, dialogue, details whatever)

Step 18: Now it's time for beta!!! Please cry clap. Depending on the posting situation (event week vs whenever) I may just do one chapter instead of the full fic.

Step 19: NOW do the edits! Again!

Step 19b: Send to betas again for feedback. Edit again. Repeat indefinitely.

Step 20: Grammar pass!!!

Step 21: Beta pass 2 (usually just a sign off that im not insane)

Step 22: Dark Night of the Soul. I grieve. I wonder if this is any good. And then by the end of brooding, I'm feeling a little evil.

Step 23: Post and give very little shits about kudos etc because they mean nothing and I know I'm fucking awesome. (you are too btw.)

Step 24: Kill God.*

Step 25: Become God.*

"Crimson?" Kirishima mumbled as you both strolled up to the entrance of the shelter.

"What was that babe?" You ask.

"Oh I was just thinking what we could name the pup." He smiled at you, that gorgeous beaming smile you adored so much, as he opened the door to the shelter for you.

"After you my dear" He bowed dramatically as you giggled, grabbing his hand and dragging him through the door after you.

You were quickly greeted by a lovely older woman who introduced herself as one of the owners of the shelter. She began to lead you both down a row of cages, holding various dogs and cats. Eijiro gripped your hand tightly as he beamed, watching you listen to the lady intently, as she explained all the info about the various dogs. Age, breed, temperament, things like that.

But Eijiro wasn't really listening, all he could do was focus on you, and just how beautiful you looked when you were excited.

You dropped your boyfriends hand momentarily (much to his disappointment) to reach out through the door of one of the enclosures and gently allow one of the dogs to sniff your hand, and petting it gently on the head before moving on to the next one.

As you continued to walk, you reached back to grab Eijiros hand once again but couldn't find it. Turning around you see your boyfriend reading one of the signs next to an enclosure intently.

"That's our oldest resident" The owner of the shelter smiles as she notices which pen Kirishima stopped in front of.

"Been in here for 3 years now" She added as you both walked back to join your boyfriend next to the enclosure. At first you thought the enclosure was empty, until you saw him, sitting, curled up on the tiny dog bed in the corner.

A frail and scared chihuahua.

You started to read the blurb on the side of the enclosure that your boyfriend was so engrossed in. It told the story of this little creature, who had been hit by a car a few years ago and surrendered to the shelter when the owners didn't care to pay the vet bills. You could feel your heart shatter in your chest as you looked at the tiny creature in front of you.

"Can we go say hi to it?" Eijiro asked the shelter employee, his voice softer than usual, as if he didn't want to stress out the poor pup anymore than it already was.

"Of course" She smiled, walking forward to open the door to the enclosure. "Not many folks are interested in our little Scarlet, most people dont come to shelters for older dogs so the poor thing gets overlooked" She spoke sadly as she allowed you both to enter the enclosure. "I'll give you a bit of time to get to know her, just come get me if you need anything" She smiled before walking back down the hall to the office.

Eijiro stepped foward slowly, before crouching down to sit himself on the floor next to the tiny pup.

"Hi Scarlet" Kirishima whispered gently as he reached his hand out, allowing the skittish dog to sniff, before ever so gently beginning to pat the dog on its small head.

"I thought you told me in the car you wanted a 'big, manly dog" You teased as you crouched down next to your boyfriend and the tiny dog, joining them both on the floor.

Kirishima gently scooped Scarlet up and held her tiny body ever so gently in his arms against his muscular frame.

"I don't know, I think surviving a car accident and being all alone for 3 years, and still allowing a stranger to pet you is pretty damn manly if you ask me" He smiled down at the tiny dog, his eyes full of nothing by love and admiration.

God you love this man, no other man could be so strong, so kind and yet so gentle all at the same time, towards every living creature.

"Plus, with a name like Scarlet, I suppose its just meant to be" You smiled, snuggling up next to your boyfriend and reaching out to slowly stroke the small dog in his arms. The dog seemed visibly more calm than when you had first seen him and you felt yourself fall in love with the poor creature every second you spent with it.

"I think this is the one honey" He murmured to you, not taking his eyes off the pup.

"Yea, me too" You smile.

So just like that, you signed the paperwork and walked out of the shelter. You had expected to be leaving with a large Terrier or Retriever or maybe even German Sheppard in tow, but instead you cradled a sleeping Chihuahua in your arms as you headed home, your family having grown by one tiny creature.

You knocked on your boyfriends office door softly.

"Come on in love" You heard his chair wheel away from his desk as he called out to you happily.

"I'm not interrupting am I?" You asked as you walked into the office, stacked high with Crimson Riot memorabilia and workout equipment. In your arms you cradled Scarlet, you knew how much Kiri loved to see her when he was working.

"Interrupting? My favorite person in the world, bringing me my favorite animal in the world could never be interrupting" He smiled as he planted a kiss on Scarlets fluffy forehead, before pulling you into his lap and kissing you softly.

"Now what could I help you with baby?" He asked, resting his chin on your shoulder as he held tightly to your waist.

"Just wanted to show you something" You giggled as you pulled up an article you had just seen on a hero gossip magazine.

"Look at this" You clicked on an article, a large photo of Kirishima out walking Scarlet that must have been taken by paparazzi recently splashed across the screen with the headline:

Ohhh this is such a fantastic question. I think anything hurt/comfort really gets to me, and I write it quite a bit.

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

Oh SO many, lmao, but the end of You Always Come First really made me laugh, and I think people are sleeping on the fic because the beginning seems…strange. But I promise you should read to the end ;)  

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?

I think the closest I’ve come to doing that was at the end of Chapter 9 of Dead To Me, because I cut it in the middle of a tense scene. But I just write such emotionally fraught stuff, there’s not usually moments to “play” with my readers like that. Maybe in the future when I’m (hopefully) writing a less heavy multi-chap. Or if I get around to finishing Just This Once….now that fic I could definitely fuck with the readers in, lol.

✍ Do you have a beta reader?

Um, I’m one of those whores who’s usually like “beta pfft nah who has time for that” and just posts the thing. But I have asked for beta help here and there from folks like @annabtg, @eastwindmlk, and @charmsandtealeaves, and I know having a beta improves my work. So I want to start doing it consistently for pieces that are more important to me.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

Found family is definitely a common theme. I have written several fics directly about or with themes of loss and mourning. Imagery… I dunno, I do focus a lot on what the characters are doing with their body/face. And for scenes – I think I enjoy writing conflicts, lol, and definitely banter, which I think is sort of in the same camp.

Lmao, it simply has to be Just This Once. I really should finish that one.

I generally love them. I read a lot of Prongsfoot first kiss fics. But thinking about it now, I don’t read a ton of Jily ones, probably just because I don’t stumble upon them as often. But I usually really enjoy them when I do. 

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

Ohhh boy, do I! My Spotify Wrapped can usually tell you what fics/chapters I was working on that year cause I just listen to the same songs on repeat while I’m writing. I’ve been playing Gravity by Sara Bareilles a lot as I’ve been working on Chapt 14 of Dead To Me (yes, that’s a bit of a hint ;) )

🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?

I pretty much just use Google Docs, and I’ll also write random thoughts/short scenes and stuff in my Notes app, and sometimes in a specific notebook I have for fic stuff.

⛔ Do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?

Oh yeah, several! One of them was a sort of lovers to enemies to lovers thing where I had Jily go on a first date, which went terribly wrong. So then they spend most of the fic pranking each other and being generally terrible to one another, until Sirius intervenes with one big prank to get them together. But it turns out I suck at enemies to lovers, lmao.

Yes, loads of people! I don’t keep it a secret that I write fanfic/do fandom things, but I do keep the actual fanfics/my online life to myself.

Ohhh man, that’s so tough! My mind immediately jumped to Sweet Seventeen, but I do think that Bring Your Kid To Work Day(s never end when your godfather is Sirius Black) is a very close second — it just has some sad aspects, where Sweet Seventeen is pUUUUUre fluff.

Nooo, nor do I take edibles and write. I don’t think I’m capable of it, lol.

Lol, I write quite a lot of spicy stuff, though I never meant to be a smut writer xD My most popular smutfic, by far, is a wolfstar fic called Show and Tell. My most popular Jily smutfic is Suffocate Me (great one, good choice everyone ;) ) and my most popular Prongsfoot smutfic is “you have no idea how long i’ve been wanting to do that” (which is so cool, because it’s trans Sirius!)

🌞 Do you have a preferred time of day to write?

I’m probably most productive mid-morning. If I haven’t depleted all my mental energy though I can also go pretty hard at night. ;)

💖 What made you start writing?

I think I was just one of those people who was always going to be a writer. I started writing at like 8 years old and it never occurred to me to stop.

Obviously I love comments, especially ones that show the reader really engaged with a fic in an emotional/intellectual way! I have historically been horrible at replying to them, but I am working on getting better about that. And feedback is great — if I asked for it from my beta reader (:

If it’s a multi-chap fic I’m usually doing some sort of outline. With DTM I go hard on outlining each individual chapter, and have had a general outline of the overall fic/chapters since pretty much chapter 2. If it’s a oneshot, usually not. I write those so quickly that I’m not liable to forget what I am thinking of doing.

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

Right now I am only actively working on DTM, so that’s the only WIP that’s actually started and “up and coming.” But I am going to be doing two collabs with @charmsandtealeaves and @eastwindmlk in the near future, which I’m pretty excited about. Not sure if Charms wants to keep ours more on the down-low or anything but I can say that one with East is Professors!Prongsfoot, a la Tolkien/Lewis. 😁

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

Write what you like! And don’t worry about if it’s been “done before.” Write the things you want to read and are inspired by, and see where it takes you. Also, imo, using prompts to write quick drabbles/microfics is a great way to practice or get yourself in the writing headspace.

Well since anon didn’t pick someone, I guess I’ll pick for myself ;) I dunno if it’s necessarily my favorite, but I do love my headcanon that James is great at Herbology because his mum keeps an extensive garden.

UGH how could you make me choose???? …okay, I think because I love Lily and Sirius so much, my favorite character to write is James, specifically when he is truly lovesick over one of them. 😇

Oh it totally depends. A oneshot, usually like 5 hours. A chapter…well if we’re talking DTM, god – countless hours. Easily over 20 hours, because I frequently write multiple versions before landing on the one that feels right.

Crackfics are so hard to get right!

Like I said about feedback, if I asked for someone to critique my work then yeah, I’m all for it. If someone just decides to offer criticism in the comments or something? Bugger off.

Weekend Update 03/10/2024

Made it another week Nerdie.

That I did. I believe today is Sunday. Too much time in this chair. I think I slept in it before. Too many times.

Nerdie, don't you have a bed?

I do, I don't always make it there. I've usually zoned out and nodded off, the wake up when my neck hurts. 👀 I'm not always writing either, just thinking sometimes.

Couldn't you think in bed Nerdie?

I could, but I don't. That sounds like a good idea. My ideas aren't always great. But I did have a few this week.

My March Spring Prompts continue. I was able to do ten of them without repeating a character! 🤗 This upcoming week we'll see some Pedro peeps come back. Key words: gas station sushi, angst, oil and bath. Remember this is Nerdie 😎, it could be any and everything, but my prompts are mature and not explicit. I do write about some heavy subjects, fluff, a few giggles, and have some innuendos, but my main masterlist is 78% smut so just go there.

The WIP I’d been mentioning for the last few weeks or months (could be either) is finished and posted : Diddle your Dieter to Disco. My first Dieter smut actually which is hilarious at least to me. 🤣 The rest of his Masterlist is fairly fluffy. I would check the warnings on it, I put a lot in it. 👀

Chu's Rant about fanfictions! (And maybe some web novels)

Note that these are my opinions, if you don't agree with them, don't comment on it, just move on and pretend you never saw my post.

Tropes:

-miscommunication

To be honest, this trope isn't bad. It just becomes irksome when it's used too much and not well. I like the miscommunication trope in healthy doses but I'm tired of seeing mostly this in the fanfics I find.

-enemies to lovers/ rivals to lovers

Most of the time when I read this trope it just doesn't sit right with me. Because yes at the start the two characters absolutely hate/despise each and then suddenly BOOM! they don't anymore? Like... Where was the progression that made them stop hating each other? Where was the part they started getting along? I really like this trope when it's written well

-idk how to title this one👀 but you will get it in the rant (or I hope you will😭)

When characters get reincarnated back into their body a few years before their death to change their life but they still end up with the person that treated them terribly? Like...I'm talking Abandoned Empress that trope! Where Tia gets killed by the emperor, her husband who has been treating her badly throughout their marriage but after her reincarnation she still ends up with him. Like wtf? She really did have so many better options😭 This trope makes me so so angry whenever I read it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and most the time it doesn't. Usually what makes up for it is the art honestly.

Heaven forbid!!! This is all I find now when I search for fanfics! Smut this! Smut that! RAAAAAAAAAGH!!! I get it, goodness enough? I've filtered my tags, I've set my algorithm but holy moly smut always, without a doubt, shows up in half the fics! And it's not even the type that's integrated into the fic, no. It's the type that's literally porn with no plot or some shit. I'm so tired of smut. When I am looking for angst, I'm looking for angst. When I'm looking for fluff, I'm looking for fluff. Not fucking smut.

The storyline is so well thought,your writing style is so unique and captivating and the way it makes you feel all the raw emotions the reader is going through ,it's honestly perfect,never stop writing ,you are absolutely amazing💞

I can't wait to see where this goes cause it hurts so good ,i'm curious though about the illness reader mentioned she used to have as a mortal,was she referring to the depression or is it something that will come back later?

Also ,when you described her powers, especially her state after the outburst,my first thought went to that one video that's like "when a massive star runs out of fuel, gravity causes to collapse on itself and explode.Entire galaxies are outshined by the death of one star,a supernova" i was basically seeing it in my head .

Oh my gosh I adore those videos so much, I love that you thought of that audio too! 🧡💛 I don’t understand space at all but those clips of the universe and getting to see star matter and how similar some things look to human irises or DNA is so fascinating 😩 I think I actually have a clip of that audio saved in my cbmthy folder, too! I think visually reader’s magic looks similar to some of the things shown in those types of videos? I’ve always pictured the green glowy stuff as kind of similar to the northern lights? With that kind of radiant glow and slightly soft but wavy? This is all for visual reference though :)

22. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)

I never would say never, but I don't usually write in first person unless it's an epistolary! I also hate tragedy and hurt-no-comfort so I wouldn't write those things.

23. Best writing advice for other writers?

Write every day. Even if you only have 5-10 minutes, set a timer, sit down, and jot something down. Once you make it into a habit as I have, it feels wrong going to bed not having written at least a few sentences that day. This ensures you write consistently.

24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?

I will never forget how small I felt when my creative writing professor in college turned to me, clicked her tongue, and said: you know, you would be almost publishable if you didn't write this YA and fantasy shit. Never let anyone tell you what to write and what not to write. Ever. Your stories have merit.

31. Do you start with the characters or the plot when writing?

Characters for sure. I structure the plot around those characters whether they're my OCs or fanfics. I care more about characters than anything when I'm reading, and they're naturally what I care to explore more when writing, too.

🍓 how did you get into writing fanfiction?

Oof okay, so like I wrote my first fanfiction without knowing what fanfiction was. I just wanted to in Totally Spies! I think I discovered FFN around 2010 when I started watching Glee and spent too much time on Omegle.

I mentioned liking a certain ship and someone suggested I'd find a fic, could not find what I wanted and started writing it myself.

🍇How many fandoms have you written in?

Give or take 8, though I only published for three and two of those got purged in the great FFN purge. Okay, 9 if you count the fact that I used to write fanfics for my own band.

🍈 How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

14 years! Not counting my self-insert Totally Spies! and the 'original fiction' that was just HSM fanfic. I did take a long break from anything fandom because I thought I needed have 'normal' interests.

🍎 Do you read or write more fanfiction?

Write, mostly because I have troubles concentrating on reading since before returning to fandom and they just don't make Podfics of the stuff I actually want to read.

🍌 What is one way you've improved as a writer?

I think I was a better writer back when I was 17, but I recently learned how to write smut and am not terrible at it. I am still, and will likely always be aggressively mid. And I have peace with that.

🍑 Do you have any bad habits as a writer?

No, I am perfect. I have no habits like reusing the same tropes, not making notes, signing up for too many fests or using my writing as escapism. I also have a phenomenal balance in writing and getting other things done. 👀👀

Not weird but very specific. I researched if Greggs had stores in Oxfordshire in 1986. Maybe weird.

Any comment, honestly. Just people reading my work and enjoying it enough to leave a little note makes my day. One of my favourites is someone having commented: Encouragement! on a fic for a ship I know they're not into.

Fringe? IDK I have a Ren Faire AU going rn. That is a little niche. I once wrote a little micro around a primal kink scene.

The words, for sure. Especially the middle part of anything.

Dialogue. I used to roleplay a lot. (Still have a steady one now) and that really thrives on dialogue.

4. Share a headcanon about (character name) in (story title)!

Ohhh I guess I'll pick one!!

I'm very sorry to everyone who sees this ask, but I'm going to go with Gale in Suit Yourself. And I'll list two headcanons because they are short.

1.) Gale is fat in this! I don't usually specify his body type in my fics (I'm very inconsistent with him anyway; I enjoy all Gales of every size), but he's pretty explicitly got a belly in this one. And yes Gilly has a hard time maintaining eye contact because of this if you know what I mean wink wink

2.) He has definitely read up on space suits before with cough much enthusiasm (I guess in DND it's a "fish suit" and isn't even really necessary for space travel most of the time, but this is fanfic so I can do whatever I want).

7. Share a line or paragraph you’ve written that you don’t think will ever actually be posted in anything! (Or, if you don’t hoard cut sentences and passages like I do, share anything you want that has yet to see the light of day!)

An old scrap that didn't make the final cut of anything:

And so he laughed. He laughed at how tacky the tentacle furnishings looked. How the opened skull of some unlucky bastard shrieked “HELP US!!” to him as he passed, because of course it did, why wouldn’t it. How the things connecting the rooms were not just hallways, but indeed sphincters, which gave Gale the hysterical impression that he was about as important to these mind flayers as a dollop of manure tumbling out of an asshole. 

Gale losing his mind 👍 the classic "you have to laugh because the situation is so grisly and horrible." I can't actually remember what this tidbit was originally supposed to be for. I think it was for a Spelljammer AU longfic idea which I ultimately discarded.

9. Do you prefer to read angst or fluff? Which do you prefer to write?

9 times out of 10 I prefer to read fluff, especially nowadays when my anxiety can't be reined in by meds. I do love angst though, so it's fitting that the answer to the other half of the question is: I definitely prefer to write angst; not because I want to, but because it comes more naturally to me than fluff. I am always, always putting characters in traumatic situations. Even worse, I'll have "good" characters do shitty things to people they love. I always think I'll go into a project being all calculated about where I want my drama to unfold and then EXTRA drama will happen that I didn't plan for. Sometimes I feel like I'm being possessed fr

I'm Turkish, Umay is the name of a goddess of fertility in Turkic mythology and Tengrism and as such related to women, mothers, and children. Umay resembles earth-mother goddesses found in various other world religions. Asya is plainly the continent of Asia, although my mom named me Asya because she heard it in an old Turkish movie and liked the way it sounded.

My motherland, Turkey is a country that is located majority in Asia and a small part in Europe. Unfortunately, because of some people who are in control of my country, it has almost turned into a Middle Eastern country. I have said before that I plan to study abroad, and this was one of the main reasons. And because there is high inflation, too many immigrants, a problematic education system, injustice, and a lack of safety of one's life (especially women and children). And because of all those people who voted for that particular candidate despite our country being in such a terrible situation... I feel like there's a social corruption in progress here. It makes me very depressed that my beautiful motherland has become like this. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of the Republic of Turkey's legacy is not being honored the way it should be. I simply want to live peacefully with a sense of freedom. I may have vented a bit, I apologize.

When it comes to personality types, it's hard to pick a favorite for me. I personally love all the analysts and of course my comrades, the diplomats. I usually get along with them in my daily life. I'm usually more drawn to INTJs romantically. ENFJs too, for sure. But I always found INTJs to be the most charming and enigmatic type. I feel more on a mutual wavelength with INTJs. A sort of common ground and understanding. I used to have an INTJ crush, but I never confessed to him. I felt like I was going to embarrass myself. I have a Harley Quinn notebook specifically for my Tumblr stories! I outline the story in the notebook first then type out the rough draft and most likely final draft, I DON'T be proofreading all the way, grammarly has spoiled me

BUT sometimes I don't need to outline! I write stories constantly on my phone without outlining it so it really just depends on how I'm feeling

Right now my comfort character is Lucifer Morningstar from Hazbin Hotel 😩😭

Of mine???? Honestly, I don't have it posted anywhere bc I'm currently converting it from a script I wrote in college to a short story. Two characters (Azar and Ahriman) develop feelings for each other but one is a princess and the other wants to quite literally take over the planet. I want them to be together SO BAD high-key but reading through it always makes me sad bc they love each other so much but Ahriman said the justice for his people is too important 😩

On top of that, when I do finish the book I wrote the script off of, it'll be after Ahriman ruins his chances of being with Azar altogether (we love a fatherless queen 💅🏼)

About the fanfic trope ask game, I think I need to ask for Time-Travel 👀

There's of course the Time-Travel Fix-it (which I think is the most prevalent type?) but also the Time Loop subcategory... 🤔👀

Hah! You, asking about time travel? Who would have thought?

Time travel's an interesting one because it's more prevalent in some fandoms than others. My three main "fanfic" fandoms over the years were LOTR, BBC Sherlock, and the MCU, with small doses of Dishonored (a video game) and Harry Potter.

Of those five, the time travel trope seems most prevalent in the MCU. I imagine it's definitely around in Harry Potter, but I didn't encounter it too much as most of my HP stuff was with crossovers. But generally speaking, I didn't have much experience with time travel until the MCU. The closest it came to in LOTR was reincarnations in the modern world (a couple of which were just awesome... I need to find those stories again and see if they were as good as my memory thinks they were. Sort of afraid to look deeper into it just in case I end up disappointed though).

Anyway!

A lot with tropes are less about the trope itself and more about its execution. I don't tend to comb AO3 for tropes or pairings, but characters instead, for instance. But when I see this tag on a Stephen-centric fic, I'm usually really interested. I only duck out if it's a "Tony's the center of the universe and he's never wrong" piece, which unfortunately accompanies this trope fairly often. Where the fuck are my time-travel Avengers as Family fix-it pieces, people? And yes, I mean *all* of the OG! Stephen's just now a part of them.

(They exist in very small numbers, which is why I'm writing one myself, once my current series is finished. Expect it around 2026 at my current rate of writing.)

I'll take both the time loop and time-travel categories. Again it's totally about execution rather than the trope itself.

Some favorites include:

Shout out as well to The End of Infinity by FriendlyNeighborhoodFangirls for being an over 900,000 word time-travel IronStrange fix it, combined with Team as Family dynamics. It's honestly too long for me to read fully but I've skimmed it and it's good if you like the tropes it presents. I might read it in full once it's finished (yeah, it's *not finished*), but for now it's a bit too much. Her shorter works are good, too--and a wee bit more manageable haha. Recommended.

There are a couple newer IronStrange WIPs that I want to add here, but they haven't gotten to Steve Rogers and the Accords yet, so I'm waiting to see how the authors handle that. Neither of them are tagged "not Steve friendly" currently, but if say that Steve was trying to kill Tony in Siberia and terribly wounded him in their version of canon and left him to die, I'm gonna politely ask that they add the not Steve friendly tag and be very sad that they went that... let's say fanon route. So we'll see. (And yes, I have an excellent essay on why that's not canonical for Steve and thus not Steve friendly, thanks for asking ;-) ).

But yeah. That's all about time travel and the slight rant that accompanies it.

Can I just tell you that I am very happy that in smut fanfics Marinette is the more dominant? Don't know why, but almost all of the smut books I read (not fanfic) they always portray the dude being the one who is in control. I'm okay with dirty talking except ninety percent it's the guy. So reading fics where Marinette is the one who's more dominant and is usually more interested in dirty talking makes me happy. Also Adrien def has a praise kink, plus he's the type of guy to like being tied, if you know what I mean. 👀

Sjskskjaks yeah I know Adrien most definitely has praise kink, I don't know what was the first fic where I read that but that has to be canon without any doubt, and I also think he IS kinky but more of a "I want kinky stuff to be done to me" rather him being the dominant one. I actually talked about this earlier and many people agreed 🤣. I think Marinette would want to be the one on the bottom, like Adrien to be in charge but to be the sweet gentle guy he is but she would also try to fulfil his kinky desires.

What’s your fannish ID? He6o or He6oart on most platforms, but I also sometimes go by "Carrot", or my actual name, 'Skye'. My screen name is said 'Nebo', and is Russian for sky, because languages are cool 👀 I picked it years ago and it was short and snappy enough so I kept it, even if it does invite confusion at times.

What types of fanworks do you create? Fanart of the digital and sometimes traditional variety! I have also written original works in the past and am working on an original comic, but haven't written for fandoms before.

What are your favourite types of fanworks, when you’re not creating? I am a voracious consumer of fanfic, lurking and enjoying from various fandoms and being terrible because I am always too nervous to comment T_T But to all the fanfic writers out there, I adore you! Thank you so much <3 I think you have collectively increased my reading speed by a ridiculous level XD Very helpful when going through dry academic papers.

What do you like in particular about this fandom? I'm practically brand new to this fandom as a creator, but I really enjoy fics with DD interacting with the defenders or the punisher. Or just anyone we haven't seen yet - avengers-with-daredevil fics are so cool! (Hopefully we'll see more with the recent MCU news! 👀) I'm generally not a shipper in any of my fandom interests but I will still read and enjoy good content regardless of my personal preferences for creating <3

Of course, I am here for Matt 😂 He's basically one of my all time favourite characters now, and he carved that spot out after I saw only a single episode…which I think is the fastest I've ever latched on to a character in my life.

Do you like participating in fan events? Absolutely! I'm a more active participant in the Final Fantasy fandom (particularly for FFXV) and have been a part of big bang (as an artist), along with contributing art and merch for several fanzines, modding several and running one of my own, all of which was a LOT of fun. Would be totally down for something like that in daredevil fandom too when I have a few more artworks behind me and am a bit more known!

I am also a regular con attendee, though not in the last couple of years, but hopefully again soon! I need to dust off my cosplay skills.

What about your creating process? I have basically been fused to a pair of headphones since I was 7 years old and do everything to a playlist. If I don't have music blasting away it's too easy to get distracted, so it's the best way for me to zone out and focus in on my work (favourites include mostly soundtracks, QOTSA, NIN, Coldplay, Garbage and Ladytron). Otherwise it's pretty straightforward…I tend to get an idea that wont leave, and just glue myself to my iPad until it's done, day and night. Usually culminating in me going to bed at 4am.

In terms of my creative history, I was an artistic kid but I stopped creating for a various number of reasons during college (I'm in the UK, so that's age 16-18) right up until I finished my undergraduate masters in 2016…and it wasn't until I started my PhD that I realised I needed a good stress outlet and picked it back up again…so given the time I lost, I've been trying to be productive with my time and hone my painting skills. My favourite sort of work is the old religious renaissance works so I really want to reach that level of artistry with understanding lighting and accomplishing realism, but keeping textures and brushstrokes. I'm working mostly digitally as it's definitely a cheaper way to learn, but if I can paint something amazing on canvas one day I'll be thrilled. I have a lot of influences, so sometimes I'll see a work by someone and get inspired to try a totally different colouring style, but my best works tend to come back to my strongest influence.

Do you interact a lot with other fans? In this fandom, I'm basically brand new, but I do a lot of interacting with FFXV fans. We're a small community that's only decreased in size as interest waned after the game's release, so it's pretty easy to sort of know everybody? I am always down for making new friends but tend to need a bit of a push as I often feel like I'm intruding on the cool kid's table when I branch into a new fandom XD My approach is to basically just make content and exist on the fringes waiting to get roped in. I'm a lot more active at talking to people on twitter though so feel free to poke me on there!

Is there any particular piece you'd like to showcase for this post? Probably the second of my Daredevil/Matt Murdock pin trio.

I designed this one and two others (Black outfit(s) and horned S2 outfit) as a set to make into acrylic pins, but I think I'm particularly proud of this one because it took me so long and went through so many revisions…I felt like I was more critical of this artwork than of anything I've done in the last year, including multiple zine pieces 😂

After I finished the first one with the S2 outfit (which was a fun experiment with textures) I was kind of impatient and raced into wanting to paint Matt with no costume, so I forwent any kind of face study and just started sketching and painting using the same palette from the first one, and wow did I have to redo it so much. This trio of DD pieces was both me learning how to draw/paint Charlie Cox, but also a test to see if I could consistently apply the same palette to multiple works of art despite my photo references being all over the place in terms of both colour and lighting. I think it was a success overall, and I learnt a lot from these pieces, including how much I really enjoy painting Charlie Cox 😂

Do you have other fandoms you'd like to talk about? Ah, I float around different circles but Final Fantasy is probably my home base of sorts. Mostly I am really into video games, so my interests lie there a lot (FF, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Detroit Become Human etc). Tolkien's works are another big area of interest for me, but often my interests tend to lie in one-off areas because I am difficult to impress.

I tend to enjoy a wide range of things, and when I fall really hard for a character or series I am compelled to create. I think few characters inspire me enough to form the kind of attachment I have with daredevil now - the last one to do that was Ignis from FFXV, and just a quick skim through my past works will show that I absolutely put that passion into art (and buying merch - I think my bedroom can probably be described as 50% Ignis shrine at this point). What can I say, I love virtuous acrobatic characters with hidden depths, especially when there's a dichotomy to their personality 👀

Is there anything else you want to tell us about yourself? A bit about me, I suppose: I am from the UK and in my early 30s, a recent graduate with a PhD in Observational Astronomy, a threat to all coffee supplies everywhere and a huge fan of philosophy, architecture and politics/law. As a kid I was known for: breaking up fights on the playground, being "the artist" kid and wanting to know literally everything about anything (give me any subject and I will just fall into a pile of books). My academic history is a mess of contradictions because I had no idea what I wanted to do with myself at 16 and I was your stereotypical straight A student with options in everything XD

If there is a Starbucks within a mile of my location, I have probably been there (and bought a mug,). I one day hope to live in a big city because places like London, Tokyo and NYC are architecturally fascinating and 24 hour coffee shops are not a thing in my smaller city XD. I tend to keep a lot of my thoughts private and mostly I live on discord. And I am really into fashion and am as attached to my sunglasses as I am my headphones (though some of that is due to light sensitivity XD). My preferred pronouns are also They/Them, but I am pretty chill about it so no worries if you forget 🙌

I do post a lot of FF art, naturally, because my other love is Ignis. But I can see my hyperfixation on Matt is definitely going to lead to a bunch of art on that side - and I have a few sketch plans in mind for October prompts (probably doing those face studies I neglected too 🤔) So give me a follow if that doesn't bother you!

Also, I talk a lot! Definitely something to note (but you probably guessed that by now!)
