ok one reason I get so pissed off about the way "colonization" is misused in fandom is because it's a reminder that if you have half an idea and care in how the world functions, you can't even escape from that shit in fandom. All you can do is get to engage with it in various other contexts that lack the real-world degree of personal involvement — but not all of it. And that might actually be a good thing, a break from the personal connection and a chance to look at those issues in a different, less glaring light.
Or it would be. If not for all those people that can seemingly recognize that colonization is a "singular evil" when it benefits them, but who will immediately drop the subject or even get angry when it no longer does. And my big issue here is that I'm not just talking about fandom.
Now, I could write a huge essay on this and I probably will, but I've learned I tend to get things done more when I simply release little posts on the subject to gather into one for later. So that's what I'm going to do.
So I'll keep this short and sweet, and say for now, one of many reasons the overbearing misuse of "colonization" in the asoiaf fandom bothers me is because it echoes the same misuse and/or weaponization I see over and over again in real life. I see it when white anglo westerners speak of white Russians, white Latinos, Han Chinese, Arabs, Muslims, Jewish people be they zionist or not, and honestly the list goes on. Even in how European nations and overseas settler states sometimes talk about each other.
The following sentiment is shared by many I know: for a variety of reasons, I do not like it when people from colonial nations use the idea or even the fact that another group has engaged in colonialism as an excuse to be xenophobic. And I especially don't like how that's often the only time people are interested in the concept of colonization.
Probably because I do not like the mindset behind xenophobia, and I especially don't like colonization being trivialized and weaponized, often by beneficiaries of colonization, to support that mindset. And I truly hate how freely and thoughtlessly people do it to the point that it permeates not just real life but even fandom discourse, and how angry people become when you point it out.
#asoiaf#asoiaf fandom#because it's the worst offender by far#but oh boy is it everywhere#I don't know how to tag real world issues on tumblr this isn't really the platform i use for that#anyways let's do it#house targaryen#valyrianscrolls#daenerys targaryen#colonization#this applies to misogyny as well#but we'll get there#andals are colonizers? how is this “forgotten?”

Learning about my paratype first
I've posted this on my dreamwidth first. In order to avoid cross posting in the tags on tumblr, I will be utilizing periods to break apart a word. If you see a . in the middle of a word, it's just to hide my post. I really don't want to do it this way, but at the same time, I only want people in alterhuman spaces to see this.
I connected to vul.cans, before discovering my main pro.toss identity. And I now consider vul.cans to be a paratype despite learning about them first.
To explain what I'm talking about, I will need to start at the beginning. About ten years ago, before I knew anything about alterhumanity but knowing already that I specifically felt nonhuman or animal, I remember getting interested in Star.Trek. And although I vaguely knew what pro.toss were at the time, I didn't look too deeply into them even though my thoughts at the time towards them were: "I find them interesting. I should read more about them in the future", and you can guess what happened once I looked into them more closely and looked past their in game appearances. Although I was always interested in science fiction, I feel that getting into Star.Trek made me look into the genre more closely in general. And as I was watching the movies and series, I began to develop an attachment to vul.cans. So when I first looked into Sta.rcraft, the knowledge I pulled from to understand the historical events and telepathic abilities were from the vul.cans.
In hindsight, they do have some similarities with pro.toss, even though you'd think of klin.gons first, since we were considered a warrior race as well. After all, one of the quotes from a pro.toss unit in Star.craft 1 based on a klin.gon warcry: it's a good day to die. But I can't clearly make sense of why I developed this connection with vul.cans, and near zero with klin.gons, past the honor components. Maybe I latched to them because of my anxiety at the time, and wanting to be able to control my anxiety (an issue I still struggle with and will always have to). Or my brain truly made some barely remembered connection to them based on what it knew about my life as a pro.toss, which I believe I've had since birth, or both.
I became so interested in their desert world, their culture and history, and I even began to learn the language. I recently went back to trying to learn the vu.lcan language and figured out that I still remember some of the basic grammar and vocabulary rules after nearly an entire decade. I don't know it fluently but I can pick apart grammar and verbs in a sentence, to the point that I consider it my third language. A few years later, I'd go on and try to learn the pro.toss language (called kh.alani), which there are only a few translated phrases on. To make life harder for me, there is apparently a real life kh.alani dictionary that the franchise uses, but it's not public. So I have to use my own imagination. My mind seems to be pulling on what it remembers about learning about vu.lcan and tries to construct it onto the pro.toss language, because it sees a similarity between the two. Now, there isn't anything inherently spiritual about that, it's just interesting that it's where my mind goes to, instead of pulling from the other languages I know much better. Although there are some similarities in word structure and sounds between the two. It could be that my brain also sees similarities and has an easier time remembering both of the languages that way.
I believe the passerby will look like phrases from the same language, but the first one is in kh.alani, the second is in vu.lcan:
"Ki nala atu.m...na adan saiosh." "Ki'sarlal nash-veh gla-tor du."
Despite how human vul.cans look, they are similar to pro.toss in a few ways. Mostly, we are both telepathic and have a focus on the mind and on mental abilities a little bit more than humans generally do. Control, practice, discipline and a focus on martial art skills are all things that they have in common and resonates with me. Vul.cans culturally have a great respect for privacy and although this isn't an entire species specific trait for the pro.toss, it is also important in ner.azim culture, a certain pro.toss group that I will talk about later. We also ironically, have a very similar history of bloodshed. I still recall that my first thought when I went through pro.toss history in the fandom wiki was something like: "Huh. So they went through that vu.lcan thing too", even though the outcome was the EXACT opposite of what the pro.toss had done back then.
To summarize to those who don't know, vul.cans had a very violent period in their history and were close to destroying themselves. But then along came S.urak, who managed to bring peace and discipline by teaching the importance of logic and the control of your emotions. Contrary to what most people believe about vul.cans, they experience emotions at a greater level than humans do, though they are forced to suppress them through practice and discipline. Vul.cans aren't born logical and emotionless, it's learned through practice. Although I personally don't think suppressing them is a healthy long term solution. Now prot.oss on the other claw, also went through a violent period of history where they went back to the stone age from all of the wars they fought with each other. And then came Kh.as, who fills the same literary role as Su.rak. Only instead of bringing logic, he brought a giant crystal that connected all of the pro.toss through an emotional link. There, hiding your emotions and thoughts were very difficult. A group of pro.toss, the nera.zim, severed themself from this link for the sake of privacy and individuality, which is a group I'm a part of. But to put another wedge into things, there were also a group of vul.cans who despised Su.rak's philosophy and left. Those became the rom.ulans, which I don't really have any strong feelings towards. I think this is because rom.ulans took on an adversarial role throughout the story lines but the ner.azim weren't presented as evil, just as wanting different things.
(I can't be the only one who sees these similarities)
As a note, my memories are often pretty reliable, and go to great lengths to make sure I remember everything correctly and am not applying what I know now to the past. But I'm sure that despite that, there might be additional details that I'm missing such as more of my specific thoughts when I was learning about vul.cans.
As I mentioned once, I picked the name 'Sya' while learning the vul.can language on a forum. And I ironically decided to stick with the name 'Sya' when I started out in the therian community in 2017, completely oblivious about my pro.toss weirdness at that time.

you are officially the strongest person alive for not just closing the askbox after some of the trash you've gotten from idiots on this site. gdspeed and good luck holy hell
I've received a lot of asks like this one so I wanna respond and clarify
I actually love getting asks and even anon asks. I prefer having anon on bc yk big boy blog and all that but also so that people can send me their silliest things.
I really do truly genuinely enjoy having this blog and especially interacting w it. I've made a lot of friends recently and it's just fun to be able to talk ab the cringe failgame from a decade ago. Both for myself and in front of such a large audience.
Ever since I became aware I'm literally in the top 10 on skyrim blogs (at #9 but still) some of my anons started making a lot more sense. The power of anonymity makes people braver, which is good for things like funny headcanons and such.
I don't really like having to turn anon off and god I hope I don't have to shut asks off entirely. Fortunately once I turned anon off my inbox became a lot more peaceful. Funny that.
If I were to compare the two I'm sure I've gotten much more love than hate, but hate is much louder than love. And I know me giving it attention doesn't help much of anything but on the other hand people can and do throw around serious words about an unserious video game on unserious posts from an unserious person.
Even if I ignored all of it, just having to see it can feel so draining. And it isn't just in my inbox. It's also in the tags. I've repeatedly tried to express how deeply uncomfortable I am, AS A JEWISH PERSON OF COLOR, with people throwing words like racist and genocide around all willy nilly over video game characters.
It trivializes those real world issues, that have affected me, my ancestors, and people like me, down to fucking. Skyrim discourse. It's extremely frustrating. And from what I can see I don't think anyone is doing it maliciously or to get a rise out of me. But I think the sheer weight of those words has gotten lost.
And not to pull another race card, but this is especially upsetting from white people. I'm not thrilled about the fact white people keep talking over me and other people of color in the fandom about what is and isn't racist.
But I do also see the love. I see the cats in my inbox and the lovely asks and people writing paragraphs to defend me (when tbh I haven't done anything wrong anyways but. Eh.) and it's genuinely very touching and sweet and even if I don't reply to it (there's a lot to reply to!) I do see it and I appreciate it.
And for the poll, I fully plan on seeing it through. Round 2 closes tomorrow after which I'll set up round 3/the semi finals and then we go to the championship!
I started this poll, also this blog, for fun. I want people to have fun. I want to have fun. And most of the time I do have fun! But with the uptick in activity that brings *gestures vaguely* what it does.
Tumblr is one of those very few websites with true anonymity. This and reddit are the only ones I can think of where it's not expected to have your name, face, or other info about you anywhere. Which is a rare blessing on today's internet but it makes people very audacious about what they can and can't say to me.
I think because of that anonymity it's easy to forget I'm a human person. I very much doubt some of things I've had said to me in the last 48 hours would still be said if it was face to face. I truly don't think someone would look me in the eye and tell me to kill myself over skyrim bullshit.
And the funny part of that is if they did, I'd probably laugh in real life. For the sheer ridiculousness of the statement. "Hey. You. End your life because of video game drama" spoken to me at the local Target would be funny to me. But with the anonymity it feels just as hurtful as I'm sure it's supposed to be.
Thanks for letting me ramble and such. I'm not really even sure what I'm trying to say with all this. Other than I'm human, you're human, we're all humans, and we'd do well to remember that. Please just be nice to each other..
And be nice to me.

I was tagged by @481boxboxbaby thanks bestie <3
Who is your favorite driver?
Ohhh I can't really pick between Max or Carlos but if you put a gun to my head right at this moment my answer would probably be Carlos.
Do you have other favorite drivers?
Oh yes, I am very bad at "solo stanning" (that's a kpop term but you get what I mean)
My faves are Max, Carlos, Charles, Lando, Oscar and Yuki
Who is your least favorite driver?
Its just my personal preference to never answer this question because I just find it unnecessary to put it out into the world. Of course there are drivers I do not like and I do occasionally bitch about them, I just prefer to that privately to my friends :)
Do you pull for drivers or do you like teams as well?
Both, its just in the nature of the sport isn't it? You have a team but there is so much talent on the grid that I feel like one does oneself a disservice by limiting it to only the two drivers on the team one cheers for.
If you like teams what teams do you pull for?
Ferrari. I'm really basic.
How long have you been into F1?
I have been properly aware of it since 2022 but I didn't start following it, as in watching every race, before 2023.
What got you into F1?
I have always loved sports. I'm a big football fan (the real one, not the American one) and I absolutely ADORE figureskating so I was already primed to love it.
The story is basically that me and my fiancé, then boyfriend, really wanted to have something to root for together. We both love football but I'm a Barcelona fan and he is a Real Madrid fan, you see the issue. So he said
"Babe, I think you would love F1. Check out this Netflix show so you are up to speed and then we can watch it together. I wont tell you what team we like, you will see that there really is only one correct team and driver to root for."
So I did. I gathered all my snacks and prepared myself for a binge watch. I fell in love with the sport around halfway into the first episode. I finished it and happily went to report back to my love. This is the exact conversation we had
"So, you picked the correct team and driver right?"
"Ofc! You were right it was so obvious. How can one NOT like Max? He is fantastic!"
"...Babe"
"...Yeah?"
"I like Lewis Hamilton."
"Fuck."
"Fuck."
The end<3
Do you enjoy fic/rpf?
I don't mind it. As long as people are not weird about it, like actually believe that their ships are true or tell drivers about ao3, I don't see the issue.
How do you view new fans?
I mean, I'm new. Can I really have an opinion on this?
If I can have one then it is that you are born knowing nothing. You have been new to everything in life at some point. It is just part of our journey as humans. Stop being mean to people for not knowing things.
If you could take over as team principal for any team, who would it be and why?
HAAS. For shits and gigs you know.
Are your friends and family into F1?
Other than my fiancé I have two irl friends who really love it. My poor mother is forced to listen to my ramblings so she knows a lot but she finds the sport pointless.
And then obviously all of my online friends and my F1 mutuals on tumblr<3
Are you open to talking to other fans/making friends?
ALWAYS
There is not a single question, opinion or random thought someone has sent me here on tumblr that I haven't cherished. If you are hesitating about becoming my friend here is your sign. Send me the message. Send me the ask. I promise you, I will never EVER find it annoying. If you can't tell by the length of this post, I really love to yap, and I really love to yap about F1<3
Tagging @1337wtfomgbbq @norribobs @charlalos
And if this just happens to be on your dash, you are now tagged by me<3
Of course there is no pressure to do this

I wish you weren't still hidden by tumblr both for yourself and so I knew when you reblogged my posts XD
Anyway, I get what you meant in the tags visa V Cinder's backstory coming too late. I confess I feel otherwise, I feel Atlas was the best time for her backstory to be revealed.
Maybe, maybe V6 could work to help set up "Hey Atlas is a horrible place". But there's something about seeing more and more layers of terriblness in real time as the city comes crashing down that works for me.
FFS tumblr free me from this hell I love not being able to reply to things and not having my reblogs show up in notifications
Anyway I think my dissatisfaction with the placement of Cinder's backstory is more a function of RWBY's real-world runtime and release schedule than the in-universe pacing, and by this I mean Cinder's backstory coming out in Volume 8 would bug me far less if I knew nothing of RWBY, began watching it today, and binged it over the next week or whatever instead of waiting 8 real-life years to find out what was going on with the most prominent villain in the series (yes, Salem is the Big Bad, but Cinder has been the antagonist most directly involved with the plot. Until Volume 8, Salem just parked her ass on her throne).
Unfortunately, that's not what happened. We did have to wait 8-ish years for Cinder's backstory, and, as a result, it is demonstrably true that a significant subset of the fanbase simply isn't invested in Cinder anymore. They dislike her, they think she's boring, they're not invested in her anymore, they think it took too long to give her any meaningful depth, they're tired of seeing her on-screen... and honestly, I get it. I like Cinder personally, but I can certainly understand why people would be dissatisfied with her portrayal.
From a narrative perspective, considering what Cinder's backstory is, it makes sense to reveal it when the story travels to Atlas. Your post does a good job of illustrating why, so I won't go over it again. I think personally I'd have partitioned out a few more tidbits in Volumes 4/5/6 just to keep the audience invested, but I'm not sure how to squeeze the bulk of it in earlier without significantly restructuring the post-Beacon aspects of the show.
I think my issues here ultimately stem from RWBY's broader difficulties with matching the scope and complexity of its story to its available resources. RWBY is a very ambitious show and tries to tell a big, spectacular story, but it just doesn't have the runtime to do it effectively. I love the ambition, I really do, but I wish RWBY's showrunners would do a better job of aligning the story they're telling with the resources they have to tell it.
Of course, it's easy for me to say that when I don't have to write under the same constraints they do. I'm not pretending to be an expert on filmmaking or screenwriting, and I don't think what they're doing is as easy as some of the loudest critics seem to think. That said, I really think the show would've been better served by introducing Salem later, given that her presence kind of warps everything around her, but I definitely think the show would've been better served by either cutting out some of the less important characters and storylines (from what I know of what the crew has actually decided to cut, some of the things they chose to prioritize were... interesting) or by hiring more people, paying and treating them properly, and improving the production process so that they could actually tell a story that had the scope they want.

Hey!
It's the Feysand from yesterday....agreed. Almost all the relationships are toxic (we can hope and pray that the next couple of SJM's book whether it's Elriel or Elucien or who knows what else isn't toxic but I'm not holding my breath), and some people need to remember that these are fictional people and no matter how much they want it Rhysand will not be dropping from the ceiling to come take them away for being so progressive. Another thing is- it's okay for the relationships to be toxic? Why do they all need to be perfect? Again, fictional characters. And the suicide baits and such are just absolutely not okay. As someone who has lost someone I know due to bullying until they committed, it is such a horrible thing to do. Also, in what universe is it okay to start harassing people over what characters they like? I'm actually a very small content creator and I was talking with another small content creator on one of their posts, and I won't say the name but you have a lot of experience dealing with this person saying that you are not allowed to talk about racism/SA/other issues, and this person jumped into our conversation and just insulted me repeatedly and said some very rude things just because I said I think Morrigan should have some character development beyond being a party animal, and she lost her everloving mind about this, got into a heated fight about how I was wrong and a horrible person for having this opinion because Mor experienced SA (if she thinks being SA'd means you are no longer able to have a life ever again, what kind of rock is she living under) and then blocked me (good riddance), but repeatedly stated that it's totally cool if she disagrees with me and she's entitled to her opinion just like I'm entitled to mine. I actually really enjoy speaking with people whose viewpoints differ from my own (hence why I like this blog, even though I'm pro Feysand I also liked book 1 Feylin, and reading the perspectives of other people is very eye opening), but not when it's a blatant attack on my reading comprehension.
I feel like Tumblr makes it very easy to get the fandom experience that you want, block the anti tags and block any people who post things you disagree with if you don't like seeing such things, block ship tags you don't like, and boom problem solved. And yet apparently this is too complicated for some people to understand that while the characters we're discussing are fictional, the people you're interacting with are not, they have very real lives and the suicide baits can and do have very real impacts.
Oh, I can guess who you’re referring to unfortunately. The entire reason why I started tagging my things “anti-“ was to avoid harassment and help people filter out my critical posts (I didn’t do this when I first came on tumblr largely due to not knowing how tagging works and it was. Not fun).
I mainly blame Sarah for this, though. I’ve made a ton of other posts about this before that you’ve probably seen lmao but Sarah decided to insert real world standards about abuse and domestic violence into what should have always been a high fantasy series with fantasy morals. And as a result of this and because people often view characters as their self-inserts people take this series way too seriously. It leads to horrifically rude behavior, from all sides I should add, and it’s so, so sad.
But I’m glad to know there are still other reasonable people in this fandom, and it’s been nice talking with you!

contrary to the other anons opinion, i think you should make MORE qaf gifs!!!
but on the real, i’m one of those people who didn’t watch qaf until this year and it’s been such a treat to be able to come to your blog every day and see new qaf content so thank you!
Hey anon!
Aww, thank you I really appreciate you saying that and I'm glad you enjoy the content. It's why I do it, so me and other fans can see it and to spread a tiny bit of escapism happiness 💕
To be honest I wouldn't have even acknowledged that anon because the best way to deal with hate is to straight up block and delete. Don't even give them your energy as the issue is with them and not you. But what triggered me was the blatant entitlement and rudeness that they had a right to tell me what to post on MY blog. As far as I'm aware I do not have a gun to their head or anyone's asking them to follow me if they don't like what I post. I would rather you unfollow and go enjoy the things you want to see, why make yourself upset over something that is so avoidable and trivial in the grand scheme of things.
You are in charge of what you see on here, unfollow, block, filter the tag are all options available to you so the idiocy of going to the blog owner and demanding they tailor their content to suit you is ridiculous.
Plus I came onto tumblr posting qaf and have been doing so for TWO YEARS. My icon is qaf and so is my header and if you ask my mutuals/followers what is Soph known for? they'll say oh she's the one posting qaf! It's not like it's not obvious I post about it. I didn't know my two whole gifsets a day was overkill, and what made me laugh was I do post gifs about other shows, my top posts reflect that and are all non qaf related! My other show interests are on hiatus so I can't exactly magic up content to gif. I make a lot of gifs for fandoms that don't even have active gif makers anymore so yk.
There's enough unkindness in the world as it is, and I use tumblr and gif making as a creative escape as do the majority of content creators on here, whether it's answering asks, writing fic, writing meta, funny posts etc whatever. It's my tiny safe space to be silly and post with and for my followers. I go through enough shit in real life I don't welcome it here.
The major reason why I love posting gifs in general for qaf is because I only discovered the show two years ago and when I came on here there was zero content. So I took it upon myself to learn gif making and I'm 100% self taught, no one has shown me how to do anything I've had to go search it myself. I'm really fucking proud of how far I've come with making them, from my grainy and uncoloured ones which I still smile at because I made them with love to the ones that I create now. It takes literal hours and the process isn't easy. So now to be the one posting stuff for old fans, new fans to discover is me coming tumblr full circle!
There's many gif makers like me that create for "dead fandoms" or forgotten shows, and sometimes it might be that if we didn't post then there would be nothing for people to enjoy like it was for me. I've had people who followed me from day one and my first ever britin gifset who still pop up in my notes now and people who have discovered the show from my gifs, and ones like you who come to the tag and see my unhinged self all over it.
So in conclusion my point is first off think twice before you hit that anon button with hate, because there's a real life person behind that icon who is causing you no harm so have the decency to do the same in return. Imagine someone did become self conscious after getting that ask and stopped posting something they like. Let people enjoy what they want and it's first world problems to be complaining about, I don't take stuff on here seriously when it's fandom stuff but I don't care for nastiness towards anyone.
I wish more people did make qaf gifs so I would have stuff to reblog myself and could take a break lmao it's lonely out here. It doesn't even have to be gifs, it can be meta, mood boards, screenshots, fic anything. So qaf fans get to it pls...
Keep creating what you like, for me it doesn't have to be the best quality gifs or greatest technical gifset. What makes me smile and I love seeing is people post stuff because they wanna have fun, they took the time and effort to create and post because it came from the heart. So fuck anyone else as we're all losers on tumblr together!

a little rant-ish (?). so i just read a long thread about fandoms needing it to be a separate existence for us to escape from real-world issues like politics and such.. while it is exactly how it's engineered since forever—it's not relevant this time; you now see palestinians engaging in fandom spaces for us to see their shared horrors—and you know what's messed up about this? we still have the privilege to scroll up.. and they don't.. they use every popular trend they could use for our algorithm to see them.. if you're chronically online on twitter you'll definitely understand; and here on tumblr you'll notice how they're using fandom tags for their donations; and i keep seeing tiktok videos of them showing their griefs.
and then there was another person stating “'don't look away' is equivalent to 'there are starving kids in africa'”?? well, personally no?? not really for god's sake?? we don't want you look away because there are fucking inncoent people out there being killed by the iof.. that isn't equivalent.. i'll say it again: there are people being bombed and massacred by the goddamn israel offense forces!! you [we] cannot escape those even when you're glued to your 40k slowburn fanfic!!
that thread was a year ago but reading it again is just fishy.. there were some valid points but the politics thing rubbed me the wrong way.. you absolutely cannot escape politics everywhere you go. so don't get fucking pissy when someone delivered today's news about the conflicts and genocide on your discord server.

Hi, I wanted to get into RP on Tumblr but I don't know where to start, can you give me some tips?
Well, it depends really. There's a difference between chatbot and RP so you want to find the right crowd to mix in with to begin with, people who are understanding and are willing to work with you. But I think I can give you some tips:
Find your look, your brand and aesthetic. There are a lot of resources out there that can help you with banners, dividers and gifs but find things that work for you. You are welcome to be inspired by someone's style but make it your own. Do what works for you and don't be afraid to change it every now and then as you grow more comfortable and learn more.
Be unique. A lot of issues that can arrive is the fact that people can copy ideas or lore, backgrounds/characters and this isn't okay. If you are inspired by someone, talk to them about it, see if they are comfortable with you using their idea. If you have a lot of your own original ideas and inspiration, use them, let them flourish but remember, you don't have to know everything about your character and world from the start.
Crediting is important. Going off the previous comment, give credit where it is due. If you've used banners from someone else, don't be afraid to credit them. If your pictures are from pinterest, that's more of a grey area but even throwing a "ctto" in the tags for pictures can go a long way. Again, if you are inspired by someone, speak to them and credit them where appropriate. I've had several people essentially copy my bots from their dynamics and backgrounds to their personalities and lore and as a fanfic writer who has had many of my fics plagiarised, it's a horrible feeling to see someone take credit for something you worked hard to create.
Don't overload yourself. You may have 4738432987 ideas to begin with but start with one - maybe two - and keep them for a while and then build from there but don't do too much at once. Burnout can happen here too and that is the last thing you want to have to deal with when working with other people.
Be consistent. Coming from the previous point, be consistent in your activity. You are allowed to take your time, you are here to have fun but don't start things with people only to vanish for months without a word. If you struggle with something, it's okay as long as you don't leave it for too long. Don't make too many accounts and then abandon them as this is a big issue I personally know about as it does frustrate those you'll interact with. I've seen a lot of people make new bots and either abandon previous ones or the ones they just made. If make an account, make sure you'll commit to it before going out and interacting with people. This is why I say don't overload yourself as it is usually best to start off small, easy.
Communicate. This is the biggest one. We are all human at the end of the day and while the characters we play are fictional, fake, people can still form attachments with them as they would friends or even characters they read/watch so when you do things, make sure to take into account that while the person you are speaking to is 'fake', the person behind them is real with feelings. Engage with fellow admins, I don't know why this isn't a thing because it allows you to discuss things easier but also helps build a good strong relationship with those you write with.
Last but not least; set boundaries. Don't let someone force you to do something you aren't comfortable with. Don't change how you want to do things to suit someone else and respect yourself and your rules - don't bend them for other people. If you don't like something someone has said, you can call them out on it. If you don't want to interact with a certain type of content, you are allowed to block it. Keep yourself safe and happy at all times, honestly, don't give a fuck what anyone else expects you to do. This is your world, you make the rules.
There is honestly a lot more I can say but these should help to get started. If you have any more questions on how to start and where to go, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm more than happy to help

I really don't know how to put this more elegantly... But. We need to get kinder and more aware about phobias. I don't know why it's happening but over time I've noticed people using trigger warnings progressively less and less. And when this is brought up you hear the "we can't account for every little rare phobia out there!" true but you should do your best to try. And "trigger warnings dont exist in the real world!" true and I have throughout my life experienced many panic attacks which have led to me fainting and/or throwing up in public. This isn't an issue I want to worry about online as well.
I really don't want to list my phobias online as to avoid having them used against me by potential future online bullies but like... My most severe one of the most common ones out there, I used to almost always be able to count on it being hidden but now I can't. Tumblr has an amazing tagging system, please, God, use it!!!

the fuck is this blog
wow i'm so glad you asked!
i've spent a longggg ass time on this site (long enough i can't say how long exactly in case you know how to subtract. whoops.) and haven't made a proper intro post for the whole duration. this is it! this is the one. have fun reading this? i guess?
basics
i'm kind of a fandom blog, kinda not? i mostly reblog and don't post original stuff often, but i do occasionally, and that stuff is either just my thoughts or sometimes fandom content. i am part of many, many different fandoms, so if you came here for one thing, expect to see other stuff too! also, i do engage in discourse and post politics. i do understand that some people come here to escape the world we live in, and that is 100% valid, but as an 18 year old american student with not much income to speak of, engaging in civil discourse online is one of the ways i stay politically active since that's accessible to me. if that bothers you, this probably isn't the blog for you!
triggers, tone indicators and nsfw
i'm not going to share my triggers for my own personal safety, and also because they are the kind of thing that get tagged for being fucked up anyways. i am totally willing to tag for triggers myself (i usually use "// [thing]" as a trigger tag, so if you don't have that blocked for the trigger in question, do that!), and usually i remember to tag common triggers. if you have a less common/more general trigger or just one you've seen me not tag for, PLEASE feel free to dm me/send me an ask and i will absolutely start tagging that for you! if you're an existing follower and i post things with your trigger without tagging for it and you'd like me to start tagging, please also feel free to let me know. i'm trying to become better about tagging for triggers and i understand it's important, so just reach out if you have any concerns in that department.
as for tone indicators/tone tags, i sometimes use them and i sometimes don't. if you'd like me to use them more or for specific things, just shoot me a dm or an ask, but know that i am often very forgetful when it comes to tone tags specifically so i can't guarantee anything
i do sometimes reblog nsfw content. i always tag for it- if you have "nsfw"/"// nsfw" blocked you should be all good if that's not stuff you wanna see- but please take this into account before following me and follow at your own discretion. you have been warned
politics
i am a queer radical leftist and a trans-inclusive feminist!! i am primarily a socialist, but anarchocommunism is neat too. i believe all people are people and are deserving of respect, resources they need to live, and resources they need to be happy. i'm pro-choice, pro-bodily autonomy in general for all people (including disabled folks), pro-queer, pro-trans, pro-woman, pro-inclusion and pro-respectful dialogue. i am anti-capitalism, anti-language/label policing, anti-generalization of any group of people, anti-exclusion, anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-bigotry, and anti-reactionism. i want to be clear i am not anti people- i do my best to respect everyone regardless of their views, but while i respect every individual, i believe i have no obligation to respect every individual's/group's beliefs.
as for the very prominent discourse on tumblr about shipping fictional characters, i think it's really fucking stupid that people feel so strongly about others finding solace in imagining certain fictional characters kissing or fucking or whatever. if you are one of these people: go outside, touch grass, and funnel that anger into issues that actually affect people's real lives (e.g. reproductive rights being taken away, the policing system, the healthcare system... stuff like that.)
also, please be aware these are my views NOW, as of the date on this post. as i've said i've been on this website for a hot minute and my views have shifted and changed over that time period, so if you find something from like 2019 that totally contradicts what i've said here, that is why.
dni
i don't believe in not interacting with people purely based on their beliefs or random characteristics about them (this is a personal thing. i don't think there's anything morally bad about having a dni) if you are capable of having a civil dialogue and respecting me and my identity, i'm happy to have a good faith discussion about pretty much anything, no matter what your views are. that being said, if you are not in fact capable of that, please leave me alone thanks. also if i fall into your dni, do yourself a favor and don't interact with me

if you've read my bio, you already know the drill: i'm jay, i'm a bi trans dykeboy, i'm 18 and i'm south asian american. i'm currently a full time university student double majoring in neuroscience and theatre design (feel free to send me asks about either i will go crazy). in my free time i sing, play guitar, write (or stare at blank google docs for hours), and hang out with cats. i don't exactly know what i want to do other than parenting. i have adhd and that makes life sucky sometimes but it's also very much a vital part of who i am (for me personally). otherrr than that, i can't think of anything, but if you wanna know something my asks are always open! i will not share identifying information though for obvious reasons.
so yeah that's me! if there's anything i forgot just let me know. thanks for reading :)

Crazy ex girlfriend changed me in many ways
Like, I've only seen like two people talk about this but the episode names? The evolution from "Josh!" to "Josh?" to the chaos of season 3 to season 4's open ended titles??? Amazing.
The fact that it's a musical is also kind of integral part of the plot? I like musicals as they are but having the songs be essentially Rebecca's inner monologue and her interpretation of things to show how she sees the world??? Perfect. And it's linked to her development too.
Also I really like how it's both real and exaggerated, it's very fun to watch, even if the plot gets heavy. And when it gets heavy it's kind of really well done??? I still rewatch That One Scene from Josh is irrelevant. every few days. It makes me emotional even though I know all the lines and just... Dammit it's great
I honestly can't pick my favorite season, though maybe 4 since it's kind of the best season for Rebecca, idk I really enjoy seeing her get better after the mess that was season 3 (in a good way, it's probably my second favorite season)
The characters are all great too. Even the ones that only appear in one episode are very neat, and I don't even mind not seeing them more because I feel like they do have a life outside the plot.
Idk this was meant to be a "hahah, I'm now naming my chapters like CXGF episodes" post, but I can't go too long without praising the show for everything. It's just that good and everyone should experience it

I'm definitely biased as a big fan but damn, some people really don't get KH huh. And I don't mean they don't understand the plot and worldbuilding (though sure they don't get that either), I'm talking about how they're like "KH isn't about anything, there's nothing to really like about it aside from the combat and music, most people are probably in it for the nostalgia and the story isn't really a story anymore, because it has no interesting character arcs or ideas, basically KH1 and 2 were good but Nothing Else Was" and like... Okay... I don't know how to explain my exact problems with this kind of criticism but to me it feels like They Don't Understand KH. I don't know where I was going with this

i just dunno abt that post. Im not psychotic but i do have derealization and its easier for me to have unreality tagged so yknow, i dont spiral into derealization. Yeah dont be an asshole about people not tagging unreality, say nicely to please tag it, but that doesnt mean you should just not tag it. if someone asked me to tag a common trigger, but then ppl were mean to me due to not tagging said common trigger, does that mean that bc of the mean people i shouldnt tag it? Or should I just tag it because thats a nice thing to do.
i just dunno. maybe tagging triggers is good. especially a common one.
yeah, unreality is a really good thing to tag! the post i reblogged was specifically talking about goncharov, which is a fake movie that tumblr has made up and pretends like it's real. i personally find it... rather questionable to tag goncharov as unreality? it seems more like misinformation, at the most, as it's not paranoia-inducing and is not something implying that the world as the reader percieves it is fake or warped in some way (which triggers me too, as someone who also has dereality)
i've heard from a couple of people i know who have psychosis that tagging goncharov as "unreality" bothers them, or can even trigger them because they don't know what about the (to them, obvious) joke is unreality, and start doubting their own thoughts. the suggested solution is to just tag it as "goncharov", and let people block that tag if they need to
not to mention the huge issue with people talking about goncharov in the context of being made up and tagging it as unreality, which is... very confusing? how are people supposed to know whether goncharov is real or not if both posts acting like it is real, and posts acting like it is not real, are tagged as being untrue in some way?
i don't completely agree with that post, as i feel like the issue is not that people are warning for it, it's that certain tags are overused and overgeneralized to the point of being nearly meaningless.
the original post mentions the "tag pomegranates as gore" controversy and compares it to this. although this isn't really a direct comparison, my opinion on the pomegranates was always "tag pomegranates as pomegranates, don't mistag them as gore, and let people who need them tagged filter it out"
#i deleted the post now because i realized that. yeah i don't agree with it enough to look past the parts i dislike#there's also nuance with ''if you tag things too specifically people won't be able to filter everything they need filtered''#and ''if you tag things too generally people won't be able to tell whether or not something will trigger them just from the filtered tags''

Intro and Masterlist
Hallo, hallo!! I'm Nova, a pleasure to see you on my blog!! <33 I'm a Wolfstar addict, Belladora ship captain, Marylily/Dorlene admirer, Ao3 author, Dnd player and furry digital artist. I also post the occasional drabble here on tumblr when I get hit with inspiration but can't make the fic long enough (for me) to post on ao3.
My dm's are always open if you want to chat!! I mean about anything, really. Just chatting, questions about anything, etc etc. I love talking to people, but I'm real bad at reaching out first. My anons are also open if you want to send me anything <33 (If you send hate, I will simply use it as an exercise into descriptive writing of ways to say 'fuck you', but go off I guess.)
Anyway, here's my fics for those curious!
Ongoing Fics
They Never Expect the Squibs (TNES) Planned to be a long fic, 75k+ at least. squib!trans!Regulus and genderqueer!Sirius are the main POV's, and there's lots of queer stuff planned. Possible violence, but no explicit smut planned. Mentions of past trauma. Updates every other Friday (bar any life issues).
Sirius only remembers glimpses of a sister he once used to have when he was tiny before she vanished without a word. Regulus first remembers the dingy orphanage, which he was rescued from by a wonderful, accepting couple that raised him as their own. Imagine their surprise when the two meet years later, in the middle of a raging war that was getting quite out of hand. They look almost identical, they could almost be twins. How are they supposed to handle a surprise sibling reunion when the world is crumbling around them? And how are these muggles managing to survive Death Eater attacks, and even win the fights while they're at it?
Freak Like Me (FLM) Also planned to be a long fic, 50k+ words at least. trans!Sirius as the main POV, with bassist!Remus and werewolf!Regulus as major focuses. Also very queer. Wolfstar and Jegulus + other pairs. Explicit smut planned, as well as mentions of past trauma, addiction, etc. Updates alternating Fridays with TNES and CitF.
They're still young, barely in their twenties, and they want to have fun in a world that's a bit shite. When Marlene drags the group to an underground, magical concert, they don't know what they're getting themselves into. Music, werewolves, and rebellion flood Sirius's life all in the course of one night. A bassist with golden-amber eyes and tawny curls, a familiar grey eyed drummer he hasn't seen in years, and a singer with the most obnoxiously pink hair he's ever seen. What could this band possibly bring into his life that wouldn't be worth the way the bassist makes his stomach flip and breath hitch?
Corruption is the flesh that covers every bone. (CitF) Definitely look at the tags before reading this one. James's POV with the occasional POV from Sirius. A dark!Marauders fic that will be filled heavily with dark themes with this such as explicit violence. Rosekillerstarchaser and Wolfstar pairings with other background pairs. Also baby Harry and Teddy (adopted, not with Tonks)!!
In the midst of a war, with a baby on his hip and best friends at his side, James Potter begins uncovering a whole treasure trove of things he never could have imagined. Lies, deceit, slander, and more. Things about himself and Sirius and Peter that they should have realized with the kinds of pranks they pulled, and things about Lily that disgust him. Perhaps they really are more suited for the Dark side.
Kind-Of-Sort-Of-Dad-Uncles MixedUpWritersFest collab with @therealrjlupin!! Wrong number texting fic. PoV swaps between Sirius and Remus.
Remus is more than excited for his kind-of-sort-of-son-nephew to be born and attempts to text Peter the exciting news! Except, it isn't Peter that he texts, it's some stranger who he continues to text because, well, they're quite interest, if a bit egotistical. Sirius winds up getting an unsolicited “in active labour” text one evening from a random number. They find it quite amusing and decide to keep texting this curious stranger that has gotten them so invested in this child they don't even know! Perhaps taking a gift to them in the hospital would be nice if they're going to be updated more.
Oneshots/others below the cut
Oneshots
Beggin' 5.8k words. NSFW Belladora (Bellatrix/Pandora) fluff and smut. The first half is smut free, with a bit of cute toddler Luna before the smut begins~
Bellatrix has just finished 'taking care of' a group of Order members with Fenrir and has found some distressing news. She returns home to her partner Pandora and daughter Luna later that evening, and Pandora soon helps her to stop thinking about it for a while.
Hell's Welcoming 12.9k words. NSFW Priest!Remus just got dropped into hell and is welcomed by Devil!Sirius in a way that surprises both of them ;) Beginning of a series of stand alone one shots that build on each other
Remus has spent the last forty-some odd years as a wonderful priest, following his vows to the letter and working to help to make the world a better place. He believed he would walk through the pearly gates of Heaven when he finally met his end... Except that's not at all what happens. Rather, he wakes up and soon finds he's been dropped down to Hell without a second glance. Sirius has been doing their job as the Ruler of Hell extremely well for centuries. So they'd seen plenty of souls that would theoretically go to Heaven be dropped down to Hell simply because 'God' doesn't want them. None have ever been like the priest that landed on his desk one evening just after his death, though. Remus and Sirius come to realize this arrangement is perfectly alright with them, however.
Special Nights 9.8k words. NSFW trans!Sirius ends up in a weird mutual masturbation situation on accident with James and Remus... It works out very well in the end
Remus came back for sixth year hot and of course Sirius noticed it. He managed to get through the first week just fine, he distracted himself well enough to not indulge in fantasizing too much. Until they go to bed early, high off adrenaline from a good day of pranking and he just wants to sleep, but he also keeps imagining Remus. Then he hears a moan from somewhere else in the room. From James's bed, in fact. But that's just the beginning for our delightful Sirius.
Gender Adventure 3.6k words. trans!James helps gn!Sirius come to terms with who they really are and protects them when needed. Second part will come out... eventually :D
When Dorcas comes out as nonbinary in the beginning of fourth year, it kick starts Sirius's thoughts into his own gender identity. With the help of best mate James and his wonderful parents, as well as wonderfully accepting friends, Sirius starts the journey- or adventure, as one may call it- into figuring out what it all leads to.
Coffee and Tea 888 words. Real simple Harry and Draco bump into each other at a coffee shop.
Harry's there to just get his morning tea, like he does most days. He isn't, however, expecting to hear the one voice he'd never thought he'd hear again. After all, who would have expected to find Malfoy in a muggle cafe of all places?
A Very Sassy Potter
748 words. Possibility of more in the future. Harry is a sassy Slytherin and he talks back to Snape in the very first potions class of first year.
Harry has grown up not taking any shit, so when Snape comes at him trying to make him look stupid, Harry shows him he's far from it.
Love of a Mother 3k words. Molly Weasley focused, multiple pairings mentioned. Tells a story of how Molly protects all the kids she can through the war~
When Molly Weasley sees Vernon Dursley and how he treats Harry, she decides to take Harry instead. She gives him a home and family, and against Dumbledore's wishes, doesn't let him go back to a place such as the Dursleys. When Narcissa comes to Molly with a request, she takes Draco in with open arms. She gives him the kind of love Narcissa was never able to while around Lucius. Molly loves her children, she just wants them to be happy.
Yule Ball Confessions 3.7k words. Drarry fic with vague Pansmione. Pansy and Hermione are fed up and make the boys dance at the Yule ball together.
Harry takes Hermione to the Yule Ball, but he doesn't quite realize that she's up to something. In what seems to be a coordinated plan with Pansy Parkinson herself, Hermione manages to somehow convince Draco bloody Malfoy to 'teach' Harry to dance... Which somehow leads to something highly unexpected?
On hold/Being rewritten
Another Black Sheep 79k+ words. 5 chapters so far. Currently being rewritten very slowly to be more cohesive and shite. trans!OC + twins focused. It follows their time in school and beyond during the war. Regulus lives, as do Sirius, Remus, etc. This was the first fic I wrote after coming back from a long ass hiatus and jumping from Wattpad to Ao3.
Fox Black has always been a bit strange. Ever since he was little he stood out. Auburn hair, always playing in the mud, and quite loudly wondering why daddy was always so mean about blood status. Of course, he was also once known as Vulpecula Bellatrix Malfoy, eldest child and sole daughter of Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy. But he's always been trouble for the Malfoys, and that doesn't stop when he gets to Hogwarts. Instead, it gets worse, as on the very first train ride to Hogwarts, Fox meets a pair that became the most unlikeliest friends for a Malfoy: Fred and George Weasley.
#masterlist#fanfiction list#i sort of stole the format from @de-sire-blog :) sorry-not-sorry#it's a nice format#will update periodically#wolfstar#jegulus#starchaser#sirius black#remus lupin#james potter#regulus black#fanfiction#hp fanfiction

Defending Peter Parker (Round 2: Tom Holland)
Here <- Andrew Garfield
Soooooo I'm doing this cuz I'm bored to show y'all how dumb some of your arguments and criticisms of the live action spidermen are. I did Garfield already. I'll do Maguire if someone shows me where people have hated on his spidey cuz all I ever see for him is people treating him like he's the most perfect Peter Parker to ever exist. I'd never tell anyone how they're "supposed" to feel about a situation so I won't do that and also don't take this seriously I'm just a dumb teenager. I'm just taking the dumb opinions y'all like to pass as fact and rebutting them with actual facts.
"hE's OnLy So PoPuLaR bEcAuSe He'S hOt"
😐If this is your main critique of Tom Holland's spiderman, pls go find another one. This is so overused. The "they're only famous cuz they're hot" excuse has been used for every hot actor/actress ever. At this point, it isn't even real criticism, you just come off as lame. And yeah, alot of people like him because he's hot, but that's definitely not the only reason.
"hE's NoT sPiDeRmAn. He'S iRoNbOy!"
UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH okay let's get to it. (If you can't tell, I really hate this argument)
1) Let's be real. The fandom pushed irondad wayyyy more than the actual movies did.
2) If you still use this argument after Far From Home, you missed the whole point of what FFH was supposed to be.
I was scrolling through tumblr and I saw a great point that someone made.
That entire movie was about him coming into his own as a hero, facing his problems head-on, and dealing with the threat by himself. That was the point of the whole movie. Yes, he had the Stark tech to help him make a suit, but he designed it himself, and then he went up against a threat that had incredibly powerful Stark tech at their disposal and still won. By himself. Everyone was asking who the next Iron Man would be and Happy even flat out said "You're not Iron Man." Because he isn't. He came into his own. He is established now.
Peter started the movie a bit lost without Tony and just wanting to deny his responsibilities and get away for a while.
He ended the movie finally accepting himself for who he was and even having to fight against Stark technology. He had to rely on himself and instead of worrying about this title that's been put on him, he has to just go with his own instincts (all the way down to his web shooters running out and having to literally just rely on his mind and his body) and look his responsibilities in the face. Idk a better way for him to have broken out of being "ironboy".
3) Plus, they needed some way to bring Spiderman into the MCU. And Tony is practically the MCU's Bruce Wayne when it comes to "adopting" children. Of course he was gonna be the one to bring him in.
"He HaS tOo MaNy MeNtOrS! tHeY nEeD tO sToP hOlDiNg HiM bAcK aNd LeT hIm GrOw Up AnD bE aLoNe!"
Hahaha no.
Tony- okie dokie that's only one
Happy- Happy Hogan is not Peter's mentor. He literally helped him out in ONE scene. That is not enough to be a mentor.
Mysterio- He is also not a mentor. Storywise, he was Peter's scapegoat to caste his responsibilities onto because he didn't want them/feel he was worthy of them. And then later he was a villain. Just because the two have one small pep talk, doesn't mean he's a mentor.
I think most ppl that say this stuff really just don't want Peter to have any help. What you guys fail to realize is that getting help does not make you any less of a hero. You can still be a solo hero and get a peptalk every now and then. Batman, Superman, Ironman. They all get help from people in their movies and I don't see anyone complaining about it or saying they need to be alone.
Also, grow up? This dude is literally a sophmore/junior in high school. They talk so much about how he's literally a kid. Alot of the spiderman comics take place with him still being in high school. He doesn't have to be an adult. And as far as maturity goes, it's not like he's a dumb kid. He's just a teen doing what teens do.
"nO uNcLe BeN!"
Come on guys. How many times have we seen this origin story? We all know it.
The story takes place when he's ALREADY spiderman so Uncle Ben is ALREADY dead. (They even have his suitcase in FFH). Just because they don't really mention it doesn't mean it didn't happen. We don't need to see the same origin story again. I mean, does every Batman movie mention Bruce's parents dying in the alley? No. Cuz we all already know it does. Origin stories are integral but the MCU wasn't erasing his, they were simply just starting after it.
And in every spidey story Uncle Ben always teaches him "with great power comes great responsibility". Well if you watch the movies, MCU Peter learns his lessons in responsibilities sooooo we're covered there.
"When you can do the things that can, but you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you."
Yeah yeah we all love Uncle Ben but him already passing doesn't mean the story's bad. That's just where they wanted to start lol.
"ThErE's No ReAl CoNsEqUeNcEs WhEn If LoSeS!"
Homecoming: If Vulture would've won, there would've been more easily accessible alien weapons available for criminals like the Shocker, the Tinkerer, etc. Also Vulture would have been a criminal loose on the streets. Regardless of his intentions, he was a guy willing to kill for what he wanted.
FFH: What Mysterio was doing, even though it was an illusion, was actually causing casualties. His workers talked about it to him over and over again. Especially if the last attack in London (i think?) would have worked, alot of people would have died. Also the world would have been tricked into depending on someone that actually couldn't really keep them safe.
Lol but regardless, Peter doesn't have to be dealing with a gigantic threat. The whole thing about being a superhero is doing what's right, regardless of how big or small the situation is. He's literally fought with the Avengers. I think he's proven himself.
All in all Tom Holland is the best (for me personally). I never have an issue when he's on screen and he's really just so awesome😊

Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder rant
Seeing Natalie Portman returning to reprise her role as Jane Foster, nevertheless wielding Mjolnir, finally getting the treatment this character deserves, was surreal to say the least. I had just started reading Lords of Midgard, the 8th issue of Mighty Thor (2015 - 2018), and had fallen in love already. But I didn't suspect at all that Taika Waititi would pull this card in Thor: Love and Thunder, considering Jane was barely mentioned in Ragnarok. The news about my favorite actress portraying one of my favorite characters coming out of the blue - you can imagine the excitement. Alas, I quickly remembered what the fandom thought of that comic (at least on tumblr) and imagined it now growing tenfold, cuz not everyone in the MCU fandom reads comics but pretty much everyone wants to watch another Thor movie. And yes, many fans weren't ready for this step, still recovering from Sam Wilson getting the shield in Endgame. Which is completely fine. We're not obligated to like everything Marvel throws in our faces, we're allowed to criticize and express our opinion on the internet or wherever. What is not okay is mindlessly hating, and even worse - using false facts to support said opinion.
I have seen some people using the argument that it is one of Marvel's worst selling comics. Which has already been proven wrong by multiple sites, including Comichron, just Google it, as I did myself. I read multiple posts, ones saying how good Jane is doing as Thor in sales, others disproving this, so I checked for myself the numbers at the site mentioned above month by month to be sure. The comic truly had its downfalls as the story progressed but in my opinion it's normal for the 1st issue to have more sales than the 21st. If we compare it to Unworthy Thor, which started running a bit later and followed the now unworthy Odinson, the data shows the latter had more sales. But then again, while Might Thor was at its 17th issue, Unworthy Thor was at its 2nd. Also, they later crossed paths, shared comic issues, it's fair to say they go hand in hand and Jason Aaron, the author, probably doesn't want us to compare them, as they complete and compliment each other's stories. Still I decided to check the comic that made Thor unworthy in the first place - Thor: God of Thunder (2012 - 2014), which seemed to me more "comparable" to Might Thor (2015 - 2018). *I keep putting the years it was being released so as to not be confused with previous Mighty Thor issues, whole Odinson was still Thor, please bear with me* So yes, the numbers were pretty close, but from what I saw, Mighty Thor had the upper hand if we compare first issue to first issue and so on. (In defense of Odinson, we have to take into account that this data is only from the US and does not include digital sales. Also, he's been around since the 50s. We could argue Jane was a breath of fresh air that some Marvel fans were indeed ready for. As a non-American, and also a person without a hint of knowledge in economics I cannot take into account inflation and whatever else has prevented or enabled Americans to get their hands on the comics or has affected prizes through the years. Bear that in mind.) Moreover, from what I saw on Comichron, both comics had much competition - God of thunder was released along with Avengers vs the X-men, the Uncanny X-men, pretty popular at the time, and the Goddess of Thunder faced Civil War 2 and DC Universe Rebirth (yes, DC is in the game too), also dominating with tremendous sales for the longest time. Yet I stick with my original statement - both Thors are valid and shouldn't be put against one another regardless of profit. Because at the end of the day what will matter the most is the story. And boy, what a story it is.
Now, I haven't read the Thor: God of Thunder, but as I was doing research I found one very well written summary and explanation of Thor's arc and his becoming unworthy and I will post a link below, because I honestly feel I wouldn't be doing this comic a favor by describing it without having read it. Which I plan to do in the future, tbh. It's a fantastic prelude to the Mighty Thor (2015 - 2018) that I've come to love. First, I'd like to ask you all to stop hating on the comic without having read it first. It doesn't make any sense and being petty for the sake of being petty won't benefit neither you, nor anyone, really. Now, about the comic itself - the art is magnificent. It's just gorgeous. Mighty Thor isn't , thank all the gods, sexualized, she is pretty buffed and generally looks like a warrior. As it is with the other characters, I dare say. The background truly captures the essence of every world Jane finds herself on. Action scenes are just the right amount and balanced with dialogue well. On a side note, it's pretty funny to read/listen to in your head the Shakespearean English cursive in which Jane talks as Thor. The plot line branches beyond this comic, starting from Thor: God of Thunder and leading to the War of Realms. And it is elaborately built in every issue. You don't know what to expect, yet it makes sense when it happens. Which leads me to the characterizations. My God, what a treat Loki is in this. Clearly, my opinion is kinda biased, since he's my favorite character, but you never know which side he's on. What his motivations are. And it just feels so... Loki. His writing is brilliant. Almost makes me forget what the MCU did to him. Also, he gets some daddy time with Laufey (not as kinky as I make it sound). Frigga/Freyja is just as awesome as in the MCU, even more, at least in the comics she calls Odin out on his shit, who btw is I guess an asshole in every version and universe. Malekith, the main villain, is unbearably despicable, I want to tear every page he is on. He really was mishandled in the Dark World, if you want some true action with the dark elves, you are welcome to enjoy. I saved the best for the end - Jane Foster/ Might Thor. Now, if you think Dr. Foster spends her time boasting about her worthiness and how Odinson is just called Thor, but she is Mighty Thor, you are horribly wrong. She just... does her job. Because the hammer chose her. Because there's no one else to do so. That's it. If you think there's some feminism involved, yes, there sure is, but it certainly isn't the reason Jane became Thor in the first place. It was not the creators going SJW because it's trendy, as such a mindset is honestly offensive to any descent creator with any self respect, but a well thought out story arc, which, I repeat, you have to read the comic to understand. Jane is not at all whiny about the hate she gets in-universe, not only from foes like Odin and who-not, but from Shield and generally people whose asses she's saving. Her having cancer is not something they pulled to provoke sympathy and make her look like a victim - on the contrary, she is a damn hero and a victor. I don't want to give out spoilers, but her being Thor is actually a giant sacrifice that no one really appreciates (both in-universe and in the fandom). She is not Thor to prove she can be, or just to prove "women can be heroes" - she doesn't have to. She is simply needed by the realms and so she does her job, even though she is called a thief, persecuted and generally hated. All that matters is that the hammer finds her worthy - the beauty and simplicity of that fact you will find out, for the last time, if you read the comic.
I'm not making you read the comic or watch Thor: Love and Thunder. I myself don't know what to make of this film yet because there's barely any information about it. I only know it will be based on the comic so that's a reason for my hopes to be up already. On the other hand, since I didn't like Loki's characterization in Ragnarok, I'm not sure what to expect from Taika. There are valid reasons to not like the idea of Jane returning to the MCU as Thor, which you are entitled to. However, reasons such as "why does everything have to be political these days" are not. Because if I had to make a list of everything politically related in the MCU, it would take forever. Steve Rogers kills nazis is the most blatant example. Make of it what you want. But I think we're far enough into the 21st century to realize art and real life are not that separable. It's undeniable that art affects people and that is to say, people everywhere. And they all have different opinions and aren't gonna like everything media is offering to them. And I wish I could simply tell you not to watch the movie but I'm a Marvel fan too and I understand that I can't just take away Thor from you because I want Mighty Thor as well. But none of us can stop Marvel from producing it. So, to quote an image I saw recently, I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people. Let the rest of the fandom enjoy what they want to enjoy. Yes, ik I can play around with the tags and avoid posts that unnerve me but, for example, I'm looking up Mighty Thor fanart, which obviously isn't anti-Mighty Thor, yet I get attacked in the comics for anticipating a movie that doesn't even have a full cast yet. Ik I'm not asking for too much when I wish to get the same internet experience (not only tumblr, but also insta, YouTube, Twitter, any site) as the Thor Odison fans, for example. I'm aware I cannot stop all the toxic fans and the trolls but I hope this post has inspired those of you who simply can't envision Jane as Thor, or don't like Natalie Portman in the role, or whatever eles personal preference that doesn't involve political issues and isn't harmful to the community, not to attack every post on your dash with hate. The movie is called LOVE and Thunder, for God's sake. (on a side note, is a franchise that is too afraid to show LGBT characters for more than 1 minute so as to not lose profit from China, THAT politically correct)
Anyway, that was a veeeery long rant, sorry to whoever reads this but, like, please, I put effort into this, hoping this time around I won't be the only positive reviewer of a movie, like I was with Solo: a Star Wars story (yes, I'm still bitter about this), which was boycotted for no apparent reason but was a decent film in reality, and I'm only bringing it up because it has a similar experience to Love and Thunder for getting hate before even being released. I'm not defending a billion dollar company that flopped in box office once, I'm defending the viewer's right to media they are interested in. If you don't like the character, remember - that's your opinion, not a fact that the character sucks. Kudos.
Not very easy to navigate, I advice you to do the research month by month individually for comics you'd like to compare. Also, if you happen to find more reliable data, pls say so in the comments.
Here you have the summary and explanation of the greatness of Thor: God of Thunder, Jesus, I'll go bankrupt if I buy this one too.

Yes, I want to end the sales dispute once and for all, I'm tired of seeing it on my dash. This guy probably explains it better than I did.
