Expending on this:

As Rika resents his father for the whole separation deal, for a long time he didn't even look at the ring, keeping it like at the bottom of a drawer or something. As opposed to wearing his mom's necklace, or buying the same hat as Yuuka even if he does resent Yuuka as well.

Meanwhile Yuuka cherishes his mom's ring like his life depends on it and he kinda wish he got both of them to have as his own wedding bands.

Random hc time: Rika has their father's wedding ring and Yuuka has their mother's.

When he grows up, to avoid unwanted attention, Rika wears it. Yuuka, on the other hand, keeps his to give his future wife if he ever gets one.

one time in melliwyk's campaign we were staying in a luxury inn in a dwarven stronghold partially populated by warforged and built inside a volcano and each room had its own private bath with running water on tap and when I/ melliwyk was like 'hot water? 👀' the DM gave me a scathingly incredulous 'no??' like that was the world's dumbest question
