Guys, I experienced competent medical care! I know it was the bare minimum and the fact that I’m excited about that is depressing but I AM ECSTATIC! If anyone wants to know how an ER visit for POTS and medication adverse effects should be handled, read on!

So I went to the ER, registered, got triaged, etc. After a pretty short amount of time, they came and fetched me in the waiting room and explicitly asked me if I was feeling dizzy or if I would feel dizzy if I stood up and offer to get a wheelchair even for the short distance. I said yes but refused the wheelchair because I have medical trauma and I'm familiar enough with this ER that I could navigate it with presyncope (and I had my crutches with me obviously).

Immediately, they gave me a bed. No questions. Should be obvious but they don't normally let me lie down even though that's the main treatment for POTS. They had me change into a gown and very quickly did blood work and an ECG, with me lying down in case I passed out (I am used to blood work so I don't pass out but it was an importan precaution). The person drawing the blood was from the same lab I go to regularly so we chatted and he and I were joking that this is probably the fewest vials he's ever drawn from me. They also hooked me up to a continuous vitals monitor.

The nurse was about to put in an IV when the doctor walked in and asked her to hold off until he talked to me. So we talked, I told him about how I started clonidine and I'm not tolerating it and explained my symptoms and that I have POTS and suggested IV fluids. He said he wasn't sure what to suggest about the clonidine, said the decision was up to me, and agreed to fluids. Not only that but suggested IV ondansetron (anti-nausea medication) without my even asking! I definitely need it but never ask because ER doctors just refuse it or give it to me orally (why would you give me an oral medication for nausea when I'm horribly nauseated?!) The nurse came back in and was adorably triumphant that we guessed I needed an IV before the doctor even said so.

The rest of the ER visit went super smoothly (well enough that I actually ended up setting of low heart rate alarms lol). Three separate nurses took the time to check on me. One of them recognised me from previous visits and said hello and checked what was going on this time and got me a blanket since I had some mild Raynaud's symptoms and she wasn't mad that I accidentally dropped the blood oxygen monitor and didn't want to risk picking it up. They moved me to a chair once the fluids were done and I agreed that I was feeling well enough to go home and took the IV out, had me change, and discharged me.

I called the pharmacy when I got home to ask how bad is too bad to push through and they suggested I go off the clonidine and call my doctor. so I called my doctor's office (who suck at everything) and told them to pass on a message to my specialist, fully expecting them to refuse to do that, but they took the message! Not only did they do that but the specialist called me back after hours at the end of the day to discuss!

So we have a plan going forward: I'm going to try just one dose at night so I hopefully sleep through the side effects and just have the desired effects during the day.

Fuck it Friday/Last Line Challenge 🌻

Last night, there I am, lovingly thinking of having enough energy to write on my current WIPs, when @pirrusstuff and I start discussing cowboy boots. Specifically ones with sunflowers on them. And that, friends, is how we ended up here. Please accept this brain dump of words in which Buck is the local livestock vet that Eddie Diaz absolutely cannot stand, but is forced to deal with.

“Bobby.” Eddie’s tone borders on a whine. “There’s nothing else you can do?” “‘Fraid not. I’ve pulled out every trick I know. Ya gotta call him.” Bobby pauses for what Eddie’s certain is only dramatic effect. “Unless, of course, you want her to get an infection or, more realistically, die.” Eddie sighs and lets his head drop between his shoulders. He knows Bobby’s right, even had a feeling it might come to this before Bobby started throwing him nervous glances when Lola didn’t appear to be progressing. Unfortunately, now, there’s no time to waste on Eddie’s petty grudge.   Without looking up from where he’s crouched next to his very pregnant, very distressed mare, Eddie holds his hand out expectantly.   “Already dialed for you,” Bobby says, a little too smugly, handing him the phone.   “‘Lo?” The familiar voice answers, sounding like he’s chewing. Logically, Eddie knows it’s just coincidental timing, but it still feels like a purposeful slight. “Buckley, I’ve got a mare in labor, stalled. Between me and Nash we’ve tried everything we can think of, but we’re gonna need a hand here.”   There’s a long pause that would make him think they got disconnected except for the loud crunching.  “Huh,” Buck finally says. “So there is something you can’t do.” “Are you coming or not?” Eddie spits back. He can practically hear the smirk forming on Buck’s lips.  “Don't worry, sunshine. Be right there.”

Milo Intro

[Character info is under the cut.]

Milo is a character that would've been in Making Fiends ever since the web series. He'd also be present from Season 1 of the Nickelodeon show and onwards.

Milo is one of Clamburgs unfortunate residents, and also Maggie's brother.

Maggie and Milo have the same, depressing world view, but they choose to cope with it differently. While Maggie does it through writing poetry, Milo does it with a different form of writing.

Jokes! Writing jokes, to be specific.

Before Vendetta took over Clamburg, he had the dream to become a comedian. But due to the strict rules that Vendetta implemented, he's unable to make jokes.

Why? Because they make people laugh.

And Vendetta hates any form of happiness that isn't her own.

So, now he only makes jokes that are more depressing/concerning than funny, so that they make no one laugh.

That would also be his main role in the show:

Saying dark humor one liners that flew over the heads of the little kids that were watching.

He's making the most out of what he can have.

...even if it has 20 layers of sarcasm coated around it.

He's pretty much just in a bad/tired mood in general, and always pessimistic, ready to point out the downside of any situation whether it's necessary or not. His comments tend to drain people, and they make them question things too much for their own good. Even when he may not mean any harm, he's always got this intimidating and strict aura around him that causes most people to dislike him, but they still take him seriously.

One gag regarding his character is that he's surprisingly lucky. Vendetta's attacks usually miss him, no matter how precise she may have initiated them. Thing is, at this point he doesn't care anymore. He'd usually just sit completely still as something flies by him at max speed, his only reaction being to take another sip of his coffee.

On the subject of coffee, he's a coffee addict. Most of his scenes include him with a cup of it, sometimes he pulls it out of thin air, which is another gag.

While his role in Season 1 and in a hypothetical Season 2 isn't very prominent, that'll change in hypothetical Seasons 3 and 4, since his role would change from background character to antagonist.
