I do think it’s very funny that Qimir gives his whole ‘oh I just want to live without persecution and practice the force as I see fit… I just want an acolyte’ while holding a lightsaber to said acolyte’s head. Like bro… the reason you are being ‘persecuted’ by the Jedi after at least 16 years of them not doing shit to you is because you guys started killing people.
I do think a very good litmus test for whether or not you should be allowed to have power is ‘do you start killing people when you get it’ and uh. Qimir fails that.
#I do think this was Headland’s intent to be clear. from her interviews she does NOT seem like a full-on Sith apologist#her intention seems to be that the Jedi are like. oppressively good while the Sith are total evil and the coven is in between#so the Jedi work against the Sith but are bad everywhere else#which I heavily disagree with! but Qimir making this argument with a saber to Mae’s head#talking about how he should be free to kill her now that she’s failed him#is intentional#star wars#is this the original post tag#qimir#qimir the acolyte#the acolyte star wars#the acolyte#the acolyte spoilers#sw the acolyte#star wars the acolyte

It’s wild to me how many r*ylos are in “established” fan positions and so many of them are having interviews with Lesyle and actual Star Wars creators. And I know because I see them on Twitter and they always ask about osha x Qimir and make their headlines specifically about that ship
Anyways the reason why I brought this up is because she yet again mentions that OSHA and Qimir are equals. I really don’t get it because it felt clear he’s manipulating her. Is she doing some kind of bait and switch? Does she genuinely believe this? I’m confused and I’m actually a little scared for the finale lol. I was happy for manny getting a prominent role but if his role is now kylo but poc idk death would be kinder for qimir
Yeah, that's the power of racism and white women lmao. Nearing ten years of what was originally a crackship and they produce the same bland hegemonic takes that they did in 2015.
The most diverse Star Wars show to date and the "gayest star wars show" has a significant portion of its audience's energy going towards a cishet ship that's just a non-white rehash of straightest, whitest ship in Star Wars history. A cishet, white relationship rife with problems was the inspiration for the main romantic pairing. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover how I feel.
Osha and Qimir...I can see how they're not as bad as reylo, but it's still like they're saying nothing. Osha was once a Jedi, but we haven't seen any lightsaber skills from her and she struggled to use the Force the one time she did attempt it back in episode one. Yeah, the ship was there, but it was across part of an ocean and high tide was coming in and we don't know how strong a swimmer Osha is. Yes, Qimir was totally naked and thus vulnerable, but he's still a skilled fighter. How do we know he wouldn't be able to evade or disarm Osha? use the Force on her to shove her away or freeze her? How many times did we see Osha miss her target already by this point?
People who insist he isn't manipulating her, Headland included, kind of confuse me. They seem to think manipulation can only happen through lies and deceit. You can manipulate someone with the truth -- preying on someone's insecurities, fears, or misgivings with the specific intention of leading them somewhere that's not good for the is manipulation in my book. It's like those "friends" who say your family hates you (true) and we like you (also true) so you should hang with US while we rob a bank. Qimir says something along the lines of the Jedi thinking only their way of understand the Force is the right way (true) but then even while acknowledging that, he implies/outright says (I realy can't remember, sorry) his version of freedom in the Force is the ideal one. The dark side is freeing.
I don't know if this is just Qimir talking or if Leslye herself thinks there are pros to the dark side that the Jedi aren't considering. As many problems as I have with her, I don't think she'd say all of that. Some reylos and their adjacents in the audience are definitely saying that. But people keep forgetting that the thing with the dark side, whether you think it's a power-boosting poison or a pool you end up drowning in or anything else, is that it's corrosive. It corrupts. There is no good that can be found or had or really done with the dark side. The entire point is that it consumes and its selfish and arrogant and violent and greedy and the Sith code was based on mein kampf lmao.
People insist that there has to be nuance with the light/dark side distinction, but the way they go about applying this "nuance" is by making the Dark Side less than what it should be. Not saying leslye is doing this btw again like Force philosophy is not my strongsuit, I'm talking about the audience now. But they say "oh, well, what if you were freed by the dark side." Nobody can truly be freed by it, that's the point, everyone who joins up with it is either wildly power-hungry and destructive or deeply traumatized and not coping with it or both. The nuance about the Force isn't/shouldn't be (at least, not to me) "We need both the light side and the dark side in order to achieve equilibrium". Remember that the dark side advocates for killing innocent people! Hurting people! Chaos and pain and destruction!
The nuance should be understand why people might choose the dark side but not condoning it or saying that well then the dark side can't really be that bad. the nuance with the force, the balance with the force, should be a healthy mix of every emotion (yes, even the negative ones. sadness helps you move past things and anger can be righteous and push you to correct a vile wrong). you're not totally detached but you don't also give in to every single feeling and you don't let the negative ones eat you alive, like anger. Moderation! Balance! Being normal, really, if you think about it!
But again this shit isn't my strongsuit. Reylos are getting their way and its ruining star wars, etc etc etc. Nothing I haven't said before. Wish we could get a good idea with good writing in star wars instead of derivatives and rewrites. How many star wars shows have been created to justify and explain some aspect of the ST by now? The final season of TM, TBB, Ahsoka maybe (I haven't seen it)? And now this. And they're not even saying anything with Oshamir.
