I'm genuinely starting to think that any guy whose like "I don't like it when people analyze media by intercutting it with social/historical commentary" just don't like how a lot of it tends to be left-leaning.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that is the whole reason. They just don't want to admit it outright.

#obviously there is a lot of nuance #I do think there are plenty of youtube video essayists who dig too deep where there is nothing there #but there isn't anything wrong with applying context and implications to things we watch because NOTHING exists in a bubble #if you are an actual media theorist of any sort you actually HAVE to do this in some sense #like they hate the pretentiousness in those format of videos (which I get and also am tired of)#but fail to realize their attempt at sounding like the better critic is just coming off ridiculous and infantile #anyway maybe this is the call for enough youtube videos like this for tonight #squack
