If They Didn’t Get on the Train Shana/Grace Deleted Scene:

Honestly, it wasn’t a deleted scene so much as when I was copying and pasting, I absolutely left it out of the chapter. @kujo1597 @andromidagalaxie One day, this tag will work between us. @strawdool @negromouthandafro I really didn’t have to do anything but copy and paste, but if there’s errors, I apologize. This takes place within Chapter 19′s time frame.

“Hey, Grace! There’s somebody that wanted to speak to you!” one of the bartenders said when she was finished with her set at a friend’s bar. She was successful, but she didn’t have the Monroe money that she had been brought up in, and her trust fund was still hefty, but she still had bills that she was responsible for, so she worked. She didn’t mind working, because she was able to do something that she loved. A lot of people knew her. A lot of famous people liked her. A lot of people tried to talk to her. She didn’t expect to see Shana whenever she turned her eyes towards where the bartender gestured.

The woman had a large puff in the back of her head and was wearing a beret on the smoothed down part. She smiled and headed Grace’s way and Grace didn’t know whether she should prepare herself to fight or just run so she wouldn’t have to. “Don’t tell me you don’t remember me, Bitch?” Shana asked and laughed. Grace relaxed a little, but was still tense. “Come sit down with me. I’ll buy you a drink.” Grace followed her, the frohawk on her own head peeking over the heads of others as they worked through the crowd and sat at a table. “What will you have?”

“They know me in here. Just a Gracefront.”

“A Gracefront?” Shana repeated and laughed. “What’s in it?”

“It's a frozen virgin melon spritzer. I don’t drink alcohol, so..”

Shana told the waitress, “Two Gracefronts - can you MAKE one of those alcoholic?” She nodded, ‘Thank God!” Once the waitress was gone, Shana looked at Grace, “You look great. You look like nothing ever happened to you.”

“Shana… I’m sorry for chinchecking you that day. I thought you deserved it, and maybe you did, maybe you didn’t. But, I regret a lot about those days. I’m not the same person anymore.”

Shana’s eyes flashed something like anger for the first time tonight, as she thought back to the time Grace straight up punched her. But, she waved a hand, “We were both some bitches, but we were entitled to it. Being young is hard, and we were surrounded by others, supposed to be and act a certain way. We had a lot of shit going on and we took some things out on each other, and some things that we took out on each other was well deserved. If i had realized then what I realize now, I wouldn’t have bothered you about that like I did. I’m presuming also that you wouldn’t have bugged me about daddy’s criminal endeavors.”

“I was so foul for that,” Grace admitted. They both laughed. “What brings you to New York? Someone told me that you were in Atlanta.”

“Who told you that?” Shana wondered.

“I think it was in the alumni group. I didn’t stay long. I only joined it to announce that I was out, so that people wouldn’t have to keep asking my parents.”

“It’s funny that somebody had the time to talk about me there, because I CERTAINLY never joined that alumni group. I hated the kids we went to school with. ESPECIALLY Simon’s narcissistic ass.” Shana watched Grace’s entire demeanor change. It was like she had just seen a ghost. “Sorry. I heard you don’t talk about him, but I sure do. Did anybody tell you about what happened at the end of senior year?”

“No. I don’t know anything but that you two were prom king and queen…”

“We weren’t together, if that’s what you thought. I couldn’t stand him. He actually thought I had a crush on him!”

Grace laughed, “Yeah, he told me that a few times. I never saw it myself, but Simon wasn’t great at taking hints. You sort of had to lead him to water.” The waitress brought their first round of drinks to them.

“I led him alright. I told him exactly what I thought about him, and you…” Shana replayed the conversations, including the announcement at the prom, which made Grace instantly terrified for her and she grew more anxious as Shana retold the parking lot incident. “And after that, I just didn’t feel safe. I finished school via distance learning and I high tailed it to ATL as soon as I got my diploma. It’s been lit. You should come through sometime. Atlanta has a very vibrant music scene for Black people.”

“I’m at Julliard right now, so I definitely won’t be moving any time soon, but I did consider spending some time in Atlanta at some point, so maybe. But, you never told me what you’re doing out here.”

“My girlfriend is from New York, so whenever I saw that you were gonna be performing here during a visit, I figured that I’d come say hi.”

“Really?”

“I was wondering for a while if you really didn’t want to talk about Simon, or if you just wanted to be able to tell your side to someone who wasn’t trying to flog you for all the world to see.”

“Oh.”

Shana laughed, “I’m a journalist, Grace. But, I was also around whenever everything happened and I never thought that it happened the way that it was being said. I didn’t think it was fair, even for you.”

“Well, it’s over and done with now. What difference would it make?” Grace asked.

“You think that wherever Simon Laurent is, he’s just letting people be? You think he’s not having angry outbursts on people in Massachusetts? You think he hasn’t set some rival scientist up for failure or terrified some ex girlfriend into obscurity?”

“I think he's a best selling author, ergo a public figure and that if he did do stuff like that, it would come to light, so, it’s not my business or my problem. I didn’t make people believe his stories or want to hear more about them. It’s not my responsibility to discredit him.” Grace gestured for another drink and began to nervously fold a napkin into an origami bird.

Shana sighed and leaned back in her seat. “I just always wonder how many people bad men can reach. I love my dad, don’t get me wrong, but when I started to research all of the people who were hurt by his crime, it made me lose sleep. When women do wrong, we get what’s coming to us, via the media and in the court system. SOMETIMES, we get it worse, for less infractions. Simon did some very illegal things, and pinned most of it on you and the biggest thing he did only hurt you, when it was legit a very serious crime.” Grace was transported to the way she felt whenever Shana showed her that video. “And I helped. I made it worse. I… it was fucked up.” Shana sighed and sat up. “I was hoping that if you wanted someone to report your side, let your truth show, that you might let me be the person to do it. I owe you that much.”

Grace laughed and shook her head, “That would be a career building story. Everybody wants to know what I have to say about Simon, so it’s not like I wouldn’t be doing you a huge favor in giving you that exclusive.”

“You would be! But, it could help both of us.”

“But, more you though. You know… people that I run into, in everyday life - they don’t even ask me about Simon. They tell me that they loved my twerking pancakes remix video, or that they saw me perform last fall and it blew their mind. I never have to think about Simon unless something else triggers it. This wouldn’t do me any favors, but thank you for the drinks. And, as I said in the beginning, I’m sorry.”

“What would I be able to do? Get you something? Find somebody? What would be a payoff enough for you to talk to me about this?”

“Can you find people?” Grace asked.

“I have a lot of resources for finding people.”

“I was in the center with a girl. She’s been in and out of centers and they won’t give me information, even though we were very close. If you can find her for me, I will think about an interview with you about Simon.”

“That’s not very promising…”

“If you can tell me where she is, I’ll give you an interview… about how I currently feel. Not about what happened before. How do I feel about Simon? That's what everybody wants to know about me. Nobody cares about the truth and I don’t want to stir that up. But, if you can tell me where Hazel Doe is, I will tell you anything I have thought about Simon Laurent since I’ve been a free woman.”

Shana snatched the origami bird and scribbled on it, “Okay Hazel D-O-U-G-H?’

“D-O-E, as in Jane.”

“Okay. Where was the last place that you knew of that she was?” Grace opened her phone to give Shana the information. “This… This is a kid, Grace. Do you know how difficult it is to find kids?”

“Yes, I’ve been trying!”

Shana groaned, but she continued taking down the information, “History of abuse or kidnapping? Because that’ll really give us a hard time.”

“Possibly… Look… this kid means a lot to me. If you really feel like something is the least you can do, it would be this.”

Shana nodded and put the napkin in her bag.

The Best Day Ever: WSC Chicago 2018

So if you have been following my blog, you know that I am not thrilled with The Walking Dead right now. However when @mdgart offered up the chance to go to WSC Chicago...I had zero chill (wait until you see the shirt I wore) and accepted immediately. First of all I love her art work and I was dying to see her work and her in person. Then 2nd I knew Chandler Riggs would be there and I wanted a photo. I am still super heartbroken that they killed off Carl so I was determined to just like get a photo with him...Idk why. LMAO

So I got my picture. :D

Let’s keep it real, my hair is huge, my hair is bigger then him TBH, and I tried to shape it and use As I am on it so the curls made sense but...okay.

I took my glasses off to avoid glare in the photo and, if you have ever seen that episode of Black Mirror called White Christmas where you can block people IRL and they basically look like blobs, well I took them off and Chandler basically was super blurry to me. I was actually stunned at how he basically disappeared when I took my glasses off, LMAO! He was super nice. I didn’t have a super long interaction with him and I wanted to be like I am gonna miss Carl so much and say how devastated I was that he was gone from the show but I was blind as a bat and feared that I would be speaking to the curtains.

I plan on going to WSC Atlanta and I hope he goes and I’ll say that when I get his autograph. I didn’t have the funds to pull that off today. Also sorry for the poor quality of the pic, too tired to scan it into my computer. However the photo is really nice in person.

So besides getting my photo with Chandler, hanging out with @mdgart was so much fun. I am normally super nervous when I interact with other people but IDK, I just embraced this day and pushed my anxiety aside and I had so much fun hanging out with her in her booth. I didn’t think I would be there all day but I stayed all day and it was awesome. It was really cool talking to someone about the show and like being on the same page. I do have a cute pic of her at her booth but I am not gonna post it because I didn’t ask her first but here is a pic of just the booth. <3

The vibe was so awesome. Just talking about art and stuff the whole time. Also the booth next to us was selling these cute charms, you could make them into a keychain or necklace, I am wearing a Michonne one in the pic above with Chandler, that was gifted to me by Shane, who was running the booth for his wife while she tried to get an autograph from JDM. I looked out for the booth when he had to leave. So shoutout to Kat and Shane. So super nice. I hope I see them again.

So we have all seen this piece of art.

Would you believe the artist was right across from us! I never fathomed meeting him in person or being able to buy this piece anywhere but his website, but I did!!!

Also super nice and had a great conversation about his work. I picked up three pieces. :D

I caught a little of Chandler Riggs and Katelyn Nacon’s panel which only solidified how adorable CR is and I can’t believe The Walking Dead thought it was a good idea to let him go. Like not only was Carl important to me as a character, I don’t get how they could part with him as an actor. Which is silly to say because alot of the actors are amazing people but they did perish on the show, although I believe strongly that fate shouldn’t have happened to Carl.

I stayed until closing and I think I would make an awesome convention roadie. Like I like traveling and all that stuff, I liked helping, hopefully I was helpful. I of course picked up art pieces from @mdgart, my crummy photography doesn’t do their beauty justice. I can’t wait to hang these in my house. Huge thank you again to @mdgart, I loved this entire day and loved hanging out with her.

Anyway, my photography sucked through out this post and I’m sad about it but please trust and believe all the art is so beautiful. I am sorry. Anywho I am going to bed because I start a new job tomorrow and yea...I need to do well so I can save up for WSC ATL.

❛ IF you weren’t already aware, this is MICHAELA BROOKS! They’re 22 years old and from DECATUR, GA. MICHAELA is often told that they bear a striking resemblance to AYANACHARM but, they don’t see it! They also sound a lot like YUNG MIAMI OF THE CITY GIRLS but that’s just a coincidence.

〘 HISTORY! 〙

Throughout her high school years, Michaela was always seen as the center of attention. She had a cute face, gorgeous body, and a sweet accent; she was just the full package. Although a lot of people loved her, they never thought that she would get to the places she is now. Everyone thought that she would take the easy way out. Maybe dancing, doing hair, or scamming. No one ever thought that she could rap or even would go that far. And Michaela fed off that kind of doubt. After seeing her cousin, MELO BROOKS, blow up so fast. She knew that she could and that she was up next. Michaela started off by giving her mixtape out to people around her block but when she didn’t get the feed back that she needed, she decided to try something else. Every time she visited Atlanta, she would link up with her old friend from middle school ASHANTI LEE. As kids the two always would freestyle at lunch and she knew that Ashanti would write raps in her journal so she decided to hit her up with an offer. It took a lot of persuading but eventually, she decided to come aboard. Once the girls started putting out music, the girls got instant feed back and there music was heard around ATL. With all the drama out of her way, her career as a RAPPER was starting to take off and she didn’t think twice about moving back to Savannah. Now that she’s signed with STNE ENT and working more often, she’s starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

ASHANTI LEE ― ( group member ) ― With the girls history, Ashanti knew that she could depend on her and vice versa. Together, the girls knew that they were going to make history and bring something different to the table. Nobody in their state was doing things like they were and they were definitely the first artists to pop off so quick and be able to go out to LA so soon. Their success has brought the good and the bad but they have no intention on letting it get between them making their money and going to the top.

MELO BROOKS ― ( cousin ) ― If there’s anyone who Melo would go to war for, it’s Chaela. Ever since the two were kids, he felt as if he had to protect her. She was always getting herself into trouble so everytime her cousin came down, he had to find a way to get her out of it. Whether it be with friends, enemies or adults of the family, Melo had her back. Family is nothing to come between when it comes to Melo Brooks.

ZENIA TAYLOR ― ( fake friend ) ― During their friendship, Zenia was always there for Chaela and she appreciated it greatly. Taking her to the store, getting her things that she needs, and spending time with her whenever she needed. Chaela really believed that she was her long-term friend but little did she know that Zenia was only around here to get connections around LA. Zenia knew that if Chaela thought that she was her friend that she would pop off instantly and her name would be known around the city.

XAVIER STONE ― ( mentor ) ― One thing that Ashanti couldn’t deny was that the team at STNE ENT were good at selling themselves to potential artists. It was like Xavier knew that she wasn’t sure about her groups place at STNE and if they had their best intentions in mind. Xavier made it his mission to reassure Ashanti and told her that her group would be overseen by him. His interest in The City Girls made her feel comfortable with him and she knew that he wouldn’t mess them over. Ever since their first meeting, Ashanti and Michaela have been reporting to Xavier for assistance when it comes to their music and their creative direction.

Day 1: A whole new outfield

Been embroiled all day in negotiations with fellow owners in Day 1 of the SB Nation offseason simulation. If I might say so myself, I think we did really well. We’ve put bids out on several free agents and completed four trades.

Kolby Allard and Travis Demeritte from the Atlanta Braves for Jace Fry

The first move cost us our most substantial bullpen piece, but for a fantastic haul. Allard is ranked No. 100 in MLB Pipeline’s Top 100. The southpaw was a first-round pick in 2015, and reached the majors at the end of the last year for the Braves. He could be our fifth starter in 2019, at age 21. From MLB:

The 6-foot-1 southpaw thrives with a three-pitch mix that starts with outstanding fastball command. He throws his heater in the 88-93 mph range, but it plays up because of its movement and because of Allard’s ability to move it in and out with ease. That can occasionally get him into trouble, as he falls in love with his fastball command and pitches off of his fastball too much. His changeup, once his third offering, is now a plus pitch and Allard would often fall into a fastball-changeup pattern. That’s something that isn’t necessary, given he still possesses a plus curve. While his walk rate jumped in 2017, he still is very much a strike-thrower.

In addition, we got Demeritte, a 2013 first-rounder (Texas Rangers) who plays all over the field and is considered a defensive whiz. He moved to the outfield in 2018, but in 2017 split his time between second and third base. The six-foot righthander had 28 homers across two levels in 2016, and was named the Double-A Mississippi Braves Player of the Year in 2018.

Demeritte will likely open back at third base, for the Birmingham Barons. When acquired, Allard immediately slotted into our No. 5 rotation spot, but as you’ll see, other acquisitions might force him down to the Charlotte Knights to open 2019.

Trading Jace Fry was suggested by SSS readers as a “sell high” move, but nothing as specific as an Atlanta Braves deal. Frankly, I suggested snagging one of the Triple-A starters from Atlanta on a lark and didn’t think it would pan out. I actually didn’t ask for Allard, thinking there was no chance, but the ATL braintrust was sour on him. Our gain. Demeritte? Total bonus.

Rusney Castillo

This one has created some controversy, first in some teams wondering why we’re taking on a $12 million Triple-A player, others wondering why Boston made the salary dump when the figure still counts against its luxury tax number.

Anyway, this is a no-brainer. Yeah, taking on $25 million for the next two years is an Alex Riosian move. But Castillo should absolutely already be in the major leagues, held down simply because of Boston’s big, bad Bs outfield. He’s a Cuban native who should pair nicely with Yoán Moncada and José Abreu in our lineup. His 1.9 bWAR in 99 career games projects to 2.6 over 162. He’s also controlled for five years, in case he breaks out and becomes the star that the Red Sox signed him to be in 2014. I slate him for Opening Day center field.

The Rusney trade idea came from reader John, who responded to my call for SSSers to email me strategies, as well as our own Year of the Hamster.

Holy crap. I’d given up on securing Santana, who played a full season in the majors in 2017 (30 homers, 85 RBIs, .875 OPS) but was held down in 2018 by the Lorenzo Cain signing and Christian Yelich trade. Milwaukee said it had a better deal in hand than what we were offering, so I gave up hoping for a young, controlled, explosive outfield of Eloy-Rusney-Domingo, when, BOOM, the Brewers were back. Of the “eating salary” options I was given, Anderson mysteriously made the list. We’re on the hook for one year and $6.5 million in 2019, and has a $500,000 buyout for 2020. But why the hell are we buying him out? Sure, 1.2 bWAR in 30 starts last year, a lotta dingers, but in 2017, 4.2 bWAR.

Fry was Milwaukee’s first choice — a very hot prospect on our end, which is pretty nuts — so Bummer became the replacement option. No harm there. Losing Narváez’s offense is an issue, sure, but I am trying to re-mold backstop as a two-way position, and Omar doesn’t fit. We’re selling high on him.

Santana will be our Opening Day right fielder, and Anderson our No. 4 starter.

The Domingo trade idea came from several readers, as well as Year of the Hamster. She might have found a way to intercept my email. As with Allard, “having” to take on Anderson was a nice bonus, one I was not expecting.

OK, with Santana in the fold, it was time to move Avi, who became an indulgence at $8 million. Surprisingly, it was the Twins who responded with vigor, and among a long list of available starters, what-in-the-hell Gibson (3.9 bWAR in 2018) was available. No-brainer.

Minny wanted a cusp-of-the-majors reliever, and in the war room Darren Jackson noted a) Guerrero is probably destined to relieve when and if he makes the majors, and b) he’s still unlikely to survive with us through another Rule 5 draft this winter.

I felt Guerrero was a bit too much of an evener here, so the Twins trotted out an AFL showcase guy as an add-in. I suggested a different AFL showcase guy, Luke Raley. Raley mashes pretty well, and has played both first base and the left field. His career minors OPS is .828. The former Los Angeles Dodgers draft pick seems to have some solid upside.

Gibson checks out as our No. 3 starter this season. Raley will start in Birmingham, and like Demeritte, stands a decent chance of a fast advance to Charlotte.

I’ve seen everything from trading Avi to extending him in our plans and the emails to me, but it seems his time with us is done. He needs to move on.

SHAQ Dishes on Miami Music Week’s Best Event – Shaq’s Fun House

Shaq’s Fun House has only ever happened twice before, and already it’s one of the most-talked about events of Miami Music Week as it prepares to make its third appearance. Last year, Shaq, aka DJ Diesel, called upon Diplo, Steve Aoki, A-Trak, Carnage, Nervo, Alan Walker, and Cheat Codes to bring the noise, and this year will feature an even bigger array of artists according to Shaq himself.

Your EDM caught up with Shaq ahead of the festivities, two weeks from tomorrow, March 29. We were desperate to know more about his background as a DJ and what made him think of Shaq’s Fun House in the first place. We also wanted to know, with all of the crazy things the Fun House already has, what didn’t make it in… the answer is amazing.

Everyone knows you as Shaq, the basketball player. But you’ve mentioned in interviews before that you have been DJing since you were 14. What was your first introduction to electronic music and how did you start spinning?

I used to cut neighbors’ grass, walk dogs, and scrap together cash to buy records and my turntables at a pawn shop. I have been hooked on music ever since I was a young kid, but back then I was all about Rap. TomorrowWorld 2014 was a milestone event that changed my perspective on music forever. It was on a massive farm and I came over a huge hill then boom 100,000 happy people going crazy having the time of their lives. I saw Skrillex and Steve Aoki and I was like what is this music… I just loved the energy! I met my manager Joe at TomorrowWorld and I begged him for a slot the next year. That is how DJ Diesel was born and I have not looked back since.

What prompted you to start Shaq’s Fun House?

This is not a nightclub or some huge festival. My Fun House brings together the best DJ’s in the world with carnival elements, circus performers, an open bar, amazing food and much more. Honestly I was getting bored of the same clubs & festivals over and over at music week…I wanted to create my own event totally different that is just all about FUN. Last year I called up Diplo and said I need you Wes…Steve Aoki…Diesel needs your energy…Carnage…bring the heat!! It was crazy everyone just ended up playing back to back all night till sunrise. This year I partnered with JBL to make the Fun House even bigger. I promise you this will be the best lineup yet featuring 8 of the best DJ’s in the world. What’s been your favorite show you’ve played so far?

To me DJ’ing in front of a huge crowd brings is like a game 7. I’ve done many amazing shows but Lost Lands and Tomorrowland have to be my 2 favorites. I practice a lot before each set and really get competitive out there..my goal is always to ignite more head bangers than any other artist out there.

Now that you’re putting out original music, like your new track with NGHTMRE & Lil Jon, can we expect more in 2019?

NGHTMRE is my Larry Bird of EDM and Lil Jon is a longtime friend. BANG was a ton of Fun to work on and we got tons more in the works! I’ll have some remixes and solo originals out soon but there are a lot more DIESEL coming in 2019. There’s a ton of shows to still release too… I just announced a show with Dillon Francis at Red Rocks, I have a big Vegas announcement coming soon, and I am really looking forward to Tomorrowland & Ibiza this summer.

What were some of the original ideas for Shaq’s Fun House that didn’t make the cut?

So I own 2 white tigers. I have a guy in Vegas that looks after them for me and he treats them real well. I thought it may be cool to bring them to Miami, but my team advised against it for safety reasons. What do you guys think should I bring em? The car ride for them would be really long or can we put them on a plane?

What was it like to have your Fun House in Atlanta for the Super Bowl?

I am an ATL native and live here now so when Super Bowl 2019 was in Atlanta I called up my managers and told them Shaq’s Fun House.. Super Bowl.. Atlanta… let’s make it legendary and we did. I recruited my boys Diplo, Tiesto, Migos, Lil Jon, T-Pain and we threw one hell of a party. Beyond the music we had Cirque Du Soleil, Waffle House, STK Steakhouse, the JBL crate, and tons more amazing attractions.

How do you see the Fun House brand growing in 2 years? 5 years?

#MANAGEMENTMONDAY INTERVIEW: BROOKE HOLLADAY (NO MERCY GLOBAL FOUNDER)

Hey Brooke! Thanks for agreeing to be apart of ‘The Female Hustler’, I can’t wait to hear your story so far!

You are originally from St Louis, what was it like growing up there and is that where your journey in the music industry began?

Yes I'm from STL! Growing up in St Louis for me was a pretty diverse life! I grew up in the Nation of Islam which was a strict lifestyle but yet with my granny raising me in the hood I was able to get around some of her strict rules, I was a little fast, one minute I'm in tap and Jazz class the next I'm selling drugs in the hood at my God sister’s house. I was very cultured but a little hustler at a young age! My grandfather was a famous Jazz musician so I was introduced to music early and my mother was a radio personality! So I had music and the industry all around me.

You are now based in Atlanta, when did you move there and what made you decide to make that move?

Yes I'm based in ATL! I moved to Atlanta in 2009 with Debra Antney whose Waka Flocka’s mother for the first month! She said that she could manage the group June 5th I was in from ST Louis! We was looking for an opportunity for the group and Deb had just blown Nicki Minaj & Gucci Mane up so I gave her a call and we drove down for the meeting then the next week we was living with her and signed.

Was it difficult adjusting to living / building a career in Atlanta compared to St Louis?

It was very difficult living in Atlanta compared to STL because we was royalty in STL and we all had our own nice houses there, but the living arrangements were very different in ATL so it was the ultimate sacrifice! Adjusting to the night life was easy because we fitted right in, we were fly, we attracted the same dope people we would back home! We ran around with the top promoters in Atlanta but it was a struggle making money, that was the only issue because we was really dedicated to our music so we couldn't get a job.

What made you decide to get into the music industry and what was your first role within it?

Lil Kim’s music is when I fell in love with Hip Hop and I wanted a piece of it so I started rapping and I took my word play and delivery serious and I joined a group.

Your Cousin Tiffany Foxx is also your artist that you manage, what made you two decide to work so closely together and is it ever challenging working with family or do you think it works better?

Well Tiff and I was in a group together, things got crazy with Deb so we was going our separate ways and everybody wanted Tiffany to go solo out of the three girls in the group anyway and she basically knew I was dope behind the scenes because I ultimately did everything for us anyway so we was like if she go solo I'll manage her! It's not hard for us as family, it's better it's us against them! Them is whoever not us.

The legendary Queen Bee, Lil Kim took Tiffany under her wing as her artist and they have featured on a couple of tracks together how did the two of them come to work together?

Yes the legendary Lil Kim co-signed Tiffany! Kim’s brother (Chris Bo Jones) was flirting with me at Lil Kim’s concert in STL, mind you we already met Lil Kim before when we sent her a Rolls Royce phantom and a chef to show her we respected her as the Queen Bee in our city so she remembered that but her brother made it official! He called me when he and Kim was in Atlanta, we came over to the house they was staying at and Kim came down in the basement heard Tiffany’s song Jay Z and the rest was history or should I say Herstory! She said “Tiff that's you spitting like that?” and we partnered up that week! Thanks to Chris, he and I never really hit it off in terms of dating but we became business partners.

Was artist management something you always saw yourself getting into?

I never thought about being a manager but my personality since a kid was connecting the dots and taking on people's problems as well as being a good listener and the best negotiator! So the transition was easy as I already was managing things, my ex of 10 years said “your calling is management B” lol he said “you negotiate about making a sandwich for me shit!” Lol it was so easy!

What has been your proudest achievement as a manager so far?

My greatest high was partnering up with my female rap idol Lil Kim I couldn't believe that I did that! That was huge.

You also manage Swift, another very talented artist famous for his hit single 'Pull Up', how did working with him come about?

Yes I manage Swift! Chubbie Baby and I worked on a few things, that's my brother we fight, we argue but he came and got me for Swift and said “here is your first signed to a label act!” He said “Brooke I believe in you, you can be the next Sylvia Rhone” the rest was history or should I say Herstory.

For those not familiar with Swift what can they expect from his sound and what has he got coming up?

Swift is very dope and well- rounded, he does every type of genre of music! He went to the school of arts; he is really coming with R&B and Hip Hop.

You recently launched your artist booking agency, No Mercy Global, tell us a bit about that and the services you provide / clients you currently have.

Yes I went through a pretty dark time in my life last year and I was watching Queen of the South and she told her protégée that you can’t show No Mercy to men in this industry because they will take you for weak! That stuck with me!

So I'm dating this guy that came around in this very dark moment and on our first date we’re furniture shopping for him but, I spent the whole time on the phone booking artists! He didn't find it rude, he actually liked it and every day we spent together it was the same thing, me on my phone booking, negotiating and one day after 6months of that he said “B you need your own office and you need to start a booking agency! You need to take it to the next level, let people pull up on you and take it seriously” next he said “I got you, go find the office” and the rest was history/ or should I say Herstory. I asked him should I call it Mini Mogul or NoMercy and he said “No motherfucking Mercy that's powerful B”!

As for as clients I can book anybody if they available!

What challenges did you face launching a new company whilst juggling managing two artists?

The challenges I juggled are focusing on me real quick to even get in the mode of sitting down, going there but I'm all over the place, I pay rent for an office I'm barley at because I'm moving around! But I'm getting a team to focus on all the areas of the company and my artists.

For anybody wanting to start their own company what advise would you give them?

Make sure it's your passion, be business savvy and make sure you study what you are into.

Are there any other artists on your radar you would love to work with?

I want to work with the Goat Jay Z and I will work with him not sure how but I will so you remember I told you that!

You call yourself the 'mini mogul' how did that name come about?

Mini Mogul came from my long-time friend Johnnie Cabell he said “Brooke I'm Big Deal and you Lil Big Deal” and then he said “you like the Mini mogul they don't see you coming you 4"11 and don't pose as a threat”.

The music industry is still a very male dominated industry, what advice would you give to any young females coming up that aim to get to high position within the music business?

Yes the industry will forever be male dominated so you have to keep your legs closed! No man in the industry can ever say he slept with me, not one! I pride myself on that! That's why they respect me! They try though all the time and it has caused some bad vibes and has taken me longer because I will not sell my soul.

As you know the site is called 'The Female Hustler' which we definitely see you as! What is your definition of a 'female hustler' ?

My definition of a female hustler is one that bares humility and does what it takes to eat without compromising her integrity! I'm always able to sleep at night with my decisions.

I'm building my own label, I’m also excited about Tiffany Foxx’s overseas tour and taking NoMercy Global to the next level! What I'm happy about most I can't speak on but it was inspired from watching The Defiant Ones so you have to stay tuned!

Summer 17 necessities : Maja’s Very Own Organic Mosquito Repellent

“Pretend I’m not here” I told Maja as I placed my nikon in her face (Yes, flash and all). After she posed for me while still holding her wine glass, (yes, kindred spirits) I focused my attention on her products. It was a Sunday afternoon, and she helped me arrange the products into a flatlay, flipping switches on and off to cast the perfect lighting. It had been raining cats and dogs on and off since the spring in Atlanta, and the constant heat and humidity created the perfect conditions for mosquitoes to flourish. The mosquitoes were clearly out here eating and living good while we either a) hide out indoors b) get bit up c) try chemical bug sprays and still get bit up and now also stink in addition to being bit up and itchy. Those worries are now a thing of the past, thanks to Maja’s Very Own. Now if you’ve been here before, you know I’m no stranger to chemical free living (in most ways, still working on others) so I was over the moon when Maja let me purchase some of her MVO organic mosquito repellent before the shop launched. I tested it the best way I know , I used it when I went to Florida for mother’s day weekend (Florida mosquitoes are a whole different level of terrible). Not only did I return to Atlanta unbitten, but my family loved it too, mostly because it didn’t have that yucky chemical smell and stickiness most repellents give.

Maja’s Very Own, is the true definition of an entrepreneurial effort. She is a one woman show, from expertly mixing her butters and oils, down to the labels that she designed herself. I had purchased before the labels were created, so I enjoyed admiring the intricate flowers the California native artist created. They are simple and effective, much like the product itself.

Get to know Maja , the artist and creator of Maja’s Very Own below.

Tell me about how Maja's very Own started.

My thoughts of developing a mosquito repellent started when I knew I’d be moving back to the South. I lived in South Carolina for 8 years and there I found out I was highly allergic. Living there was miserable because 4-5 months out the year I couldn’t step out the house passed a certain hour in fear of being bit. I would swell so bad, and I even developed MRSA from being bitten before. I was determined to enjoy my new move because it was a new chapter in my life, and I didn’t want to limit myself. So I did my fav thing ever and google researched anything I could regarding mosquitoes and how to naturally repel them. I knew there had to be plants that worked, I hated the smell of OFF! And anything with DEET. Even if they add a “flowery” smell to those products, it smells horrible. It’s nothing but chemicals. I’m a self-proclaimed black hippy lol and want nothing to do with such things. I made my first batch summer ’16, it was a small personal bottle just to try things out. I was my own guinea pig and saw it worked for a little while but I still would get bit and would have to load up on benedryl to avoid using my Epi-Pen. But summer 17 was going to be my summer. I started my health journey, finally settled into southern living and really wanted to see what ATL had to offer. By doing more research I found better oils and remedies that might help so I threw some things together and would try them out and finally found a mix that worked and smelled good. Fortunately this time around friends and family tested it to make sure it worked for different people who have a different body chemistry than I do. Whala ! Maja’s Very Own. I wanted to have fun with it, so making it wouldn’t feel like or become a job, I already have one of those. That’s why there are Drake references in my description, someone told me I was “too urban” for those but clearly they didn’t get it was an MVO ting ayyyee lmao plus who doesn’t love a little Aubrey Drake in their life?… life is to enjoy and why not enjoy what you do?

When you realized you could turn your own personal remedy into a business, did you have any fears along the way ? If so , how did you overcome them ?

I originally wasn’t going to sell it or even mention it. It was the push from family that gave me the courage to start bottling it. I have a hard time putting myself out there I’m very introverted unless I know you personally. It worked so well for family I was like fuck it why not, what do I have to lose? Yes, it’s pricey but not only will I be helping myself but others. As soon I made mention of it on my FB people were messaging me telling me they have the same problem and they hate the mass produced products as well.

My main fear was the cost to do everything, because everything I used I made sure was organic, pure and naturally sourced. We all know organic isn’t cheap, but I took the leap anyway because I believe in what I’m doing. I truly believe that as long as you try to do what you whole heartedly believe in you’ll never fail because you tried. You come out a winner because you learned something by simply trying. Plus i'm beyond fortunate because my family supports everything I do, I couldn't ask for anything more than that. they're my cheerleaders even when I fail, they understand the importance of being an entrepreneur, especially being a woman and black, how important that is. I want my brothers see me try and fail or succeed, and know they don't have to keep working for someone else funding another's dream. You can put time into your own and build an empire. It'll take time, and i'm not saying I'll be hugely successful, but until my last breath I'm going to use the gifts God gave me and keep trying. Just having my younger brothers tell me they're going to step out of their comfort zone to try something because they see me trying is everything, or having my mom and grandmothers tell me they're proud of me having the courage to constantly put myself out there. I don't care if I sell nothing else,lol that's the most rewarding thing i've ever experienced. I'll forever submit my artwork to galleries or shows and keep making stuff in the kitchen just because of those things right there.

What are some of the challenges you faced initially as a small business owner?

Money… lmao point blank, everything else comes pretty easy for me. At a random job I had I learned design so I design all my labels, thank you inserts and banners for my Etsy. I’m also an artist so I pay serious attention to detail, almost borderline OCD lol

Also because of that I kind of get anxiety wondering if people like what I’m sending them. Along with the product I send a general thank you, but I also send a handwritten note that I appreciate them and I believe in giving back to the Earth we take from daily. I enclose wildflowers, lavender and a few other seeds for them to plant personally or just spread somewhere so in a small way we help stabilize our bee population because we need them. Without the bees I won’t be able to continue making the product even if it’s just for myself and never sell another bottle, the fruits we eat or anything for that matter. We have to give back in some type of way, it's small but it’s something. My black hippy ish lmao

Do you plan on expanding your product line in the future ?

I do actually last summer on top of making me a spray I also made repellent infused jewelry which I was hella surprised it worked! I forgot to spray myself and just had on my bangles and earrings and never got bit. Also beside the spray I also have a rub I made. I think people tend to shy away from the rub because it’s the summer but in the summer we still need lotion with this hard ATL water lol. I use that in place of my lotion everyday just as extra protection because I myself have even forgotten to spray myself down before walking out and regret it as soon as I feel a slight burn then welt somewhere. It's lighter than you’d think and moisturizes your skin so well because of the Shea and coconut oil. Still smells really good which a main focus was. You can wear either spray or rub along w your fav oil or perfume and it won’t be overbearing. But yea jewelry is the next move.

As the protagonist continues through the game, they obviously need to face some Gym Leaders, so here are the first four! Gyms work a little differently in Atles; instead of there being a set order for them, you have an option which of two Gyms to do first between the Tech and Art Districts, which will have ramifications that I have not yet made up depending on how you do the gyms in what order. Anyway, here are the Gym Leaders and the cities in which their Gyms are located! Designs for Cassandra and Meridian were made by @tamawu, a very good friend and a very good artist!

Tech District Gym Leaders:

Wayne: The Fairy-Type Trainer

Wayne always had an affinity for children, in the sense that he enjoyed the sheer happiness they got out of the simplest of joys. As such, he opened up a Toy Store in Zobe City, and with the help of his Pokemon, he creates custom-made toys from scratch to sell to families. To certain children who find joy in Pokemon Battles, he is also the first Gym Leader in the Tech District, so if asked, he is more than willing to battle and give to those worthy the Toy Badge. While he does see how Pokemon can be used for entertainment, he finds it less cruel to just use toys as a substitute, so if it came down to it, he would support Team Progress over Team Scene.

~”I’m always available to lend a hand to children! Come now, I’ll help you become better Trainers!”

Zobe City

In Zobe City, people are free to start up whatever small business they wish to have without the fear of too much competition. There aren’t big chains, greedy monopolies or CEOs that want to overtake whatever they want, just a bunch of locally-owned shops that allow their owners and employees to make a decent living. The ambiance is very calm and serene, as the sounds of industry happen far, far away from here.

Meridian: The Ghost-Type Trainer

In Meridian’s hey day, he was a big time company owner that dominated the HM/TM business. His company was predicted to never die out and he believed it, taking every risky business proposition offered to him in order to further his own profits. Trinity City, his hometown and locale of his business, was a thriving jewel thanks to his company, but once the Ride Pokemon business came along and proved more convenient, his profits crashed and his business went bankrupt. He fell into a deep depression, as the city that he cared for so deeply went into ruin without the backbone of his company, so he decided to pass the time with something else: Pokemon Training. His specialty in Ghost Types made him a fearsome foe, so he decided to open a Gym in the abandoned store he used to own and offer the Abandoned Badge to those who defeat him. He believes deeply in Team Progress, as he believes they’re his only chance at finding that shine in Trinity City that he once saw.

~”I’ve lost so much... Do you really think that I can lose to you, too?”

Trinity City

Trinity City used to be a bustling metropolis, full of life and energy that was fueled by big business. Its residents lived luxurious lives, its businesses were huge and money seemed to be never-ending in supply. Its backbone was the HM/TM Business, which was strong and seemingly unbreakable... until the Ride Pokemon business came along and decided to settle in a different city. Trinity City’s business slowed, then nearly stopped, causing the shining jewel to lose most of its luster. Many of the businesses were abandoned, and most of its residents moved to find better opportunities. Trinity City is now little more than a ghost town.

Arts District Gym Leaders:

Cassandra: The Ice-Type Trainer

When it comes to making Art, nobody’s cooler than Cassandra, in more ways than one! Each day, she makes a trek towards Renelen Mountain to gather ice with her Pokemon, then using them as models, she carves entire life-sized sculptures out of the giant ice blocks. Her art gathered her enough recognition to open a sculpture gallery, where the prestigious come to observe and sometimes even buy what she makes. For those looking for a fight with the legendary Cassandra, he also happens to be the Gym Leader in Sunty City, where she combines her strength with her powerful Ice Types Pokemon to fight for the honor of having the Sculpture Badge. Even though her Pokemon are used to gather the Ice, she feels that enslaving them in workshops are wrong, so she would much rather see Team Scene rise into power than Team Progress.

~”Come one kid, I don’t bite! My Pokemon will very much bite, though.”

Sunty City

Sunty City was named a bit ironically, considering that it’s one of the coldest cities in Atles. Artists flock here, thinking that the harsher conditions will give them more inspiration for whatever medium they wish to partake in. From the center of town, the buildings were designed in such a way that you can see the Sun setting perfectly over the Twin Mountains, so you would likely see many painters in City Center at that time.

Marquee: The Steel-Type Trainer

At age 16, Marquee got her first job in the Tech District, caring for Steel-type Pokemon in a factory. It was a fairly simple job; she mended their wounds, made sure they were still motivated to work, just generally standard medical work. However, she began to realize that certain Pokemon were drawn to the music that she played on her breaks, and some were even able to recreate it. It was at that moment that she realized that Steel-type Pokemon didn’t just have to be relegated to workers, but some of them instead wanted to make music! She gathered some of the Pokemon that wanted to join her and fled to Moore City to open up her own Dance Club, where she and her Pokemon perform original musical pieces for a consistently huge audience. That’s not to say she’s not powerful; she and her Pokemon also offer Gym Battles in her club, and if you beat her, you win her custom made Rave Badge. Marquee’s dream is to see Pokemon chase their own personal dreams, not just be relegated to being used for whatever they seem they could be used for, and she thinks that Team Scene will allow people to realize this dream.

Moore City

Moore City is the place to go if you want to become a musician. All types of music are accepted there, and theatres hold weekly open mic nights for rising stars. Even the Pokemon that live there find a song, and you can hear Pokemon gleefully singing and screeching and calling out to each other everywhere you go. Every musically-gifted person’s dream is to live in Moore City, because those who want to make it live in Moore City.

So I called the owner of the broker company who told me that he would gladly backdate the policy upon the notion that AIG would accept it and they said that they would. Then the owner called me back stating that his broker that issued the policy already gave a recorded statement to the insurance company stating that he did not remember us requesting the added driver to the policy so he cant help us or he would lose his license as a broker by recanting on a recorded statement so he then told me to make the adjuster take the recorded statement off the record and they will do it but it is illegal to even ask them to do that. Our Policy has canceled several other times due to this broker not turning in the proper paper work to AIG. Total loss and State farm auto insurance?

I had a collision a few weeks before and it is classified as collision damage. I received an estimate at a body shop who initially provided an estimate of $xxxxx/- and said that the insurance company has agreed to pay them and a delivery date was given. Now, things have changed in the middle and the body shop manager tells me a new stories of additional things that went wrong due to collision (all of a sudden) and that the insurance agent after inspection wants to call it a total loss based on this new estimate. My insurance company- State farm wants it to call a total loss which I doubt given the extent of repair it might take for the minor damage in the front fender alone. Now, here are my questions. I now have suspicion on the integrity of the body shop as well the trick palyed in declaring total loss. 1. Can I have a second opinion at a different body shop? Does State farm allow that? 2. If the repair cost is more than the ACV, and if I still wish to keep the car, can I negotiate for the max amount less deductible that State farm is willing to pay the body shop (xx% of the max amount that state farm is willing to pay before declaring total loss) and I take care of the remaining cost? summer tour days 5 - 8

okay so i realize i was super hard on myself throughout the last entry lmao. i will try to beat myself up less. i still feel like people are too nice to me.

anyways i’m about to tell y’all about my favorite part of tour, days 5-8.

day 5 - gainesville, fl

on day 5, it was MY turn to drive!!! i volunteered because i wanted to listen to the new mbmbam episode while i drove. after we checked out of our hotel, we walked across the street to get grits from a place called the grit counter. imagine chipotle-style service, but with grits. i got brie grits with kale, heirloom tomatoes, bacon jam and fried green tomatoes. it was iiiiincredible, super rich and heavy though haha. i somehow managed to eat it all. THEN we hopped in the van and i drove us to gainesville! it was a really fun and easy drive. i was a little nervous because before this tour i had never driven the van before but i actually didn’t have a hard time at all. it was definitely the biggest vehicle i’ve ever driven though. for the first time we saw a dead baby gator, i wonder if that’s common for road kill in florida lmao. i’ve driven to florida before but never saw one on the side of the road. it sucks but i can’t pretend i was bummed because i ate gator hours later.

we checked in to our hotel in starke and then headed to the venue in gainesville, which was the high dive. we finished load in quickly, so after we brought in our gear and set up merch, both bands walked to boca fiesta for dinner. it was while we were all walking around the town together, that i felt a really big sense of gratitude. i never thought we would have the opportunity to play florida. i mean, we booked this tour ourselves, we’ve yet to be approached by a booking agency lmao. anthony and i made this whole tour happen. but gainesville was looking bleak at one point; i didn’t think we were going to be able to book something. same went for atlanta.

i ordered a gator taco and a stir fry taco (vegetarian) and holy HELL they were sooo good. the gator was fried, and it kinda just tasted like chicken, but it was still amazing. i wanted to order more food but i couldn’t because i’d be singing relatively soon. i don’t know how people can eat huge meals before a set. once i watched a video of spencer sotelo eating a fat pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich while recording perfect vocal takes and i was so green with jealous rage wtf

i don't know if it was the humid air, but i had my best show in florida i think. i didn't struggle really with my usual vocal problems and i felt really comfortable on stage. the venue was also just so nice. the stage was huge. elusion and the pine drape were all really kind people and sounded great. i knew this was probably a weird gig for the pine drape because they’re deathcore haha, but we’re the kind of people who liked mixed genre gigs. most importantly, the people who came out to the show were supportive of every single band. usually you can tell at shows by body language (and then obviously by who actually stays lmao) who is there for who, but most of the people who came watched everyone. there were like six people who were camped out on the side of the stage sitting down for the entire show. one of them bought merch from us. i should have gone over to talk to them but by the time i had a moment they were all gone. there was also a girl who drove her bike all the way to the venue from her house just to come see the show!!!

day 6 - atlanta, ga

the morning of june 5th was the last time we’d have to check out of a hotel/motel all of tour. half of us did laundry and santino saw a lizard by the laundry units haha. it was so beautiful out. i just remember walking to the motel office to go get a spoon for my oatmeal and the weather was so beautiful. we were about to leave palm trees behind but we’d be on our way to atlanta, GA for the first time.

we were having so much trouble getting the xbox 360 in our van to work ALL of tour, but joe and shindle were able to finally fix it. julie brought the first season of the rugrats so we finally watched that. i forgot how many times grandpa said “we walked FIFTEEN MILES in the snow BOTH WAYS” throughout the entire series haha. we had a relatively shorter drive to our destination, so we took this opportunity to stop at walmart and maybe make a couple more bathroom breaks than usual.

i think we hit the most traffic heading into atlanta, but even that wasn’t bad. so far the worst traffic all of tour was definitely the DMV area at the beginning of tour. i took this opportunity to call in our dinner order for when we got into the city. i was absolutely dead set on getting lemon pepper wings in atlanta and i wasn’t leaving without them!!! all my research pointed to three dollar cafe, so we got our food from there. the lemon pepper wings were amazing. i ordered them baked so they weren’t as cripsy and i wondered if i should have just ordered them fried. i was just trying to be healthy for once lmao. still good though.

we ate our food once we got to georgia tech, where the venue was located. the campus was really nice. there was a ton of patio furniture outside the student center so we just ate real quick before load in. under the couch was a really spacious venue, it also had a lego play station hahaha. you could tell it normally served as a student lounge but it had a pretty decent stage.

we played with three bands, holders, feverest and fevergreen. the show moved super quickly for how many bands were playing which was great. everyone was kind but we didn’t really make too many new friends at this show. i think the bands just wanted to play and leave lmao. our friend yasin from the band things amazing and extrovert had helped us set up the show, so he came out to hang. it’s always cool to meet internet friends in real life!!! he told us a lot about the ATL diy scene; i love when people share what their scenes are like because it’s cool to hear parallels and maybe some of the differences between everybody’s communities.

it wasn’t our most phenomenal show but i still had fun. i tried to make it a note to myself to not get down about my performance, i now was holding every show to the same standard as my set in florida, but the thing that bummed me out most was that we didn’t sell any merch. this tour i felt like we had to rely on that source of income so much more because not every venue paid us, and i knew that our merch sales were hinging on how well i performed or how well we performed. but there’s nothing you can do just gotta move on to the next gig haha!!! right!!

almost done with georgia haha. so before tour we were able to line up a bunch of places to stay at, and one of them was petra house. this kind couple the jeffries from cartersville, GA have the entire bottom half of their house remodeled to house touring bands for free out of the kindness of their hearts. they were up waiting for us for when we arrived, fed us ice cream and brownies, and shared stories with us about what they do and the bands they’ve hosted. fucking covet stayed with them!!! before we left they also asked us to be sure to leave merch and posters, and sign their guest book. i had one of the most comfortable sleeps all of tour.

day 7 - nashville, tn

i woke up on june 6th like a kid on christmas morning because it was nashville day. we were sort of in a rush to get there but mr. jeffries let us know that if we wanted to, he could hook us up with some free cici’s pizzas before we head out to nashville. we couldn’t turn that down lmao. we also wanted to make sure we got a group picture with them before we left. seriously the sweetest family. he met us at cici’s as we were heading out of georgia and he walks right in and the manager gives him four free pizzas lmao. we were so grateful for the jeffries’ hospitality and kindness.

embarassingly enough we ate the pizzas like RIGHT AWAY hahaha. they ended up being our breakfast. cici’s pizza is actually really good. i dunno i guess i’ve just never had the opportunity to try cici’s because we have so many other pizza joints in new jersey. we then embarked on our drive to nashville. i was bugging about how late we were leaving but i didn’t realize we were going to gain an hour by passing into central time. so we actually arrived in nashville around 2:00 pm, it was perfect. i was honestly losing it about being in nashville, finally haha. because of this tour i finally got to see some cities i’ve never been to before just because they’re so far, and this was probably my number one most-anticipated stop.

after parking we explored nashville as much as possible. load-in was going to be extremely late so we definitely had enough time. as we walked around we definitely stopped to take the most touristy photos possible allll day. and go figure, the town was PACKED because it turns out we just happened to book our nashville date days before CMA fest, a huge town-wide country music festival. so it was a little crowded which sucked but it made our day interesting.

first stop was third man records, famously known as the record shop owned by jack white from the white stripes. jaime recorded a phonograph in a compact recording booth they have there and shindle found a critter and guitari synth that everyone stopped to play. i’ve always wanted one of those but alas, money!!! we then headed back to broadway to get barbeque at jack crawford’s on the strip. thank god the food was so cheap because i think all of us were scared of spending too much money haha. i got the pork shoulder dish with potato salad and mac and cheese, and i picked up three different barbeque sauces - tennessee (vinegar-based), texas (tomato-based) and kansas city (sweet/smoky).

we stopped at several touristy shops because we all wanted corny souveniers so badly haha. i got a pint glass that has photos of all the broadway neon signs printed on it, a hot pink magnet with revolvers on it, and a koozie that says “FUCK Y’ALL” in cross-stitch LMAO. i also got a growler at rock bottom brewery, we hung out on their rooftop bar for a while overlooking broadway. the venue we played, springwater supper club, was across from a park in nashville where their parthenon (so random, huge greek parthenon) was located. julie and i explored the parthenon and got some cool pictures. we were sure to head back to the venue just in time for load-in. at one point i also went to a convenience store to get hot water for my throat coat tea, and they had a craft beer counter where you could fill up growlers. the midwest is nuts lmao

i had a moment when we were walking around to block to go get edible cookie dough because as we were returning, we saw vacant lot across the street from the cookie dough shop that was illuminated by dozens and dozens of fireflies. i took a video but that doesn’t even do it justice. the day had already been so wonderful and to see something so magical and beautiful made me feel so glad we all got to have this day in nashville together.

we played with two bands, trigger and glass idols. glass idols got to the show early so everyone was talking to them here and there, they were chill people. trigger i looked forward to watching because they’re a magic the gathering-themed band hahaha. really great instrumental prog music. michael trigo, the brain behind the project, writes his songs based off of lands and characters from the game. i really enjoyed talking with him in person finally haha, and watching them play.

so nashville... ugh. it was my worst show. damn it was like i was foreshadowing when i told chris at jack’s earlier “HAHA I DON’T CARE IF I EVEN HAVE A BAD SET BECAUSE I’M HAVING THE BEST TIME” as i was sipping on a beer hours before singing (i never do that!!! i got too carried away!!!). and then there i was sulking at our merch table. i was also grumpy as hell for other reasons.

i’m not a popular guy, but this whole tour, i knew at least one person in almost every city, or sort of near every city. and they didn’t come out to see us play. it was bad enough that half the bands that were playing with us wouldn’t watch the touring bands (i mean fuck us and making connections right?), but i personally knew some of the people that didn’t come out to our shows. we posted about this tour months in advance. i don’t know. the one person i knew might not make it was my one best friend who had said she’d come out to north carolina gig, but i knew she lived way too far from the venue and the show had run super late.

i don’t expect people to go out on a limb for us. but some (including musicians) live mere minutes from where we were playing, and i was just really bummed. i could have bugged these people right before we left for tour but i was hoping people would just show up on their own accord. i’m over it now but i felt a strong sense of disappointment at the halfway point of tour. and then obviously bands or certain musicians at the gig leaving before we played was the worst. you can’t make people do anything, really. you can’t make them promote or stay, you can only hope. but i just wonder if they’ve ever toured or if they ever aspire to tour. and i wonder if they would appreciate if people didn’t stay to watch them play either, let alone come out to the show at all. i understand money, because back home i have to watch my spending and i can’t go out to as many gigs as i’d like. but our shows were all $5-$10. and i especially try to show face for bands in our genre. if i can’t, i share the event page and send some invites for them, or talk to some people from the area who might be able to go. or i wish them well! just small courteous stuff.

it all comes with the territory and we went into this fully expecting the worst to happen. we just wanted to finally get out and play new markets; show face in new places. but it still sucks.

worth mentioning something positive though, this girl arianna who came to the show with her boyfriend zach bought a t-shirt from us and they had even offered to put everyone up for the night. this is what i mean when i say touring is still worth it despite the disappointment- not because of people buying stuff or doing stuff from us HAHA, but because you still meet such quality people and become friends with people all over the country. DD stayed with them, we stayed with a girl i met via a facebook music group named ansley that kindly put us up in nashville. she had offered to put us up for tour, a complete stranger just willing to help us; we were super grateful. it was cool meeting her and her roommate, we talked about how paramore had just played a secret show at a small nashville venue named the end (at the same time we were playing UGH) and what venues were popular in nashville. her puppy leo slept out in the living room with us too. i felt so bad i was so cranky and tired and i just wanted to sleep but leo was super excited haha. and he was a super sweet pup, he wanted to cuddle with everyone haha.

day 8 - cincinnati, oh

after suffering the worst set ever i wondered if i needed to go on vocal rest. it was bizarre for everyone, but i downloaded a speech-to-text app and used that to talk instead. i broke my silence when we had to order coffee and food for ourselves, and towards arriving to cincinnati.

we really, really didn’t want to leave nashville. it was unanimous that we were all feeling bad about having to move on. we almost left without doing so, but i insisted on us trying a local coffee shop just out of curiosity, and then getting hot chicken. we thought maybe that we were pretty set on everything we needed to do, but people on social media were telling all of us we were messing up by not getting hot chicken.

we went to 8th and roast for our morning coffee. the cold brew was no rook new orleans, but it was still very good. by the pretty sizable line behind us at the register and the amount of people sitting around on their laptops, i could tell this was a popular neighborhood spot. at the coffee shop, a nashville native strongly recommended hattie b’s for hot chicken. we still had an hour til the place opened so we figured we would be smart to go take care of our walmart errand first and then go back. surprise! we were wrong. we pull up to hattie b’s AND THERE’S A LINE.

but booooy was it worth waiting in line. the guys were agitated about having to wait another 20 minutes to leave nashville too, but once we all tried the chicken we were insanely happy. the way it was seasoned, fried, everything- i can confidently say it was the best fried chicken i’ve ever had. like KFC on steroids.

the drive to cinci was super easy, we passed through kentucky which was... interesting, haha. after passing over like 10 bridges getting into cincinnati we debated on exploring the city, but we couldn’t even find parking at the waterfront. joe was dying to do laundry so we did that instead. i was reluctant but it ended up being way worth it.

we got to the venue, northern yacht club, just in time to meet Q who is from the band the obnoxious boot and helped us put the cinci show together. northern yacht club is like the perfect size, and they had awesome vegan food which julie and shindle were stoked on.

the show ran late but it felt like time flew by. we had a really fun night meeting everyone. a band had to drop because their drummer quit right before the show, and a hardcore band hopped on last minute. so it was mixed-genre, half hardcore and half progressive music. still, the show went well and the people were all so cool. we played with colors in mind, odium, and then the obnoxious boot. i didn’t do so hot this show but it was way better than nashville that was for damn sure haha.

another thing i loved about this tour was touring with another vocalist that sang. the same way guitarists gush over pedals, chris and i would sometimes talk about technique. all of tour i had been meaning to pull him aside because he wanted to help me with diaphragm exercises. i strongly believe this is one of my huuuge huge faults and what’s keeping me from being the vocalist i want to be. outside the yacht club he showed me the exercises he does before gigs, and i started to do those the remainder of tour. i didn’t feel the change immediately, but i felt my ability to do the exercise increase for sure. and even now that we’re home i do them every day.

i wanted to keep up with trying local stuff, so i asked the bartender for something brewed in cinci and once they pointed out their selection i kept eyeing this rose ale all night. i’m glad i got it because it was so delicious. it was a little sweet but it was because it tasted rose but it still had the hoppiness of an IPA. sounds kinda weird, but it worked.

after the show Q led us to his house and he put the whole tour package up in his basement. we didn’t get to bed too late which was great, i think we were all out around 2:00 am, 3 the latest. sounds awful by anyone’s regular sleep schedule but that’s tour.

Hmm hey, so ive been thinking about it today and I really don't want to tell you…..but that's not because i don't want to tell you, its because im scared to tell you....I dont want to lose you or put a burden on you... I want you to believe me and to take what happened seriously and as something that was bad….but i don't know if it was.... and i don't want to place those kind of hopes on you. So im not really sure what i should do. I really...want to tell you....when I remembered everything...I was like “I want to hug him and tell him what happened and be accepted” but......again I dont want to place that on you.... Cause if i don't tell you you will think its cause you can't help me and that's the opposite of the truth….and if i do tell you you’ll think its cause you forced me into it and that's not true either….anyway….im gonna post this and leave it under the cut….you can decide if you want to read it or not and that way...you did not force me into it, cause i didn't actually show it to you okay? I want you to know I gave this a lot of thought and im at peace with this. I feel good about it. Anyway what happened…..so when I was born Davida fell in love with me, or so they say. But I didn't really know who they were till I was about 9, still they romanticized me for those nine years. By the time we did met and get to know each other I was well, 9. Anyway, they were my tutor and we grew close, they were safe and kind and selfless and I liked being around them. But but a little later they ended up saying to me “you know I don't think we are cousins (we are actually cousins) we are more like siblings.” and I didn't really know what to say. I liked just being cousins, especially cause that was what we actually were….but the way they said it sounded so hopeful and almost pleading I agreed and yeah started calling them my sibling. I think that was the first thing i did with them that I didn't want to do.

Later they started having a lot of nightmares and Id come in and try and comfort them and ended up sleeping in the bed with them. And then the next night they asked me to do so again and….yeah, then after a bit when I asked to stop sleeping in the same bed as them and they cried a lot so….i said “nm” and kept sleeping in the same bed as them….another thing I didnt want to do.....

a lot of “fights” happened and looking back, I realize its because they had made up a story about us being in a relationship even tho they had never had that conversation with me and, I was 9 and they were 18 (19?)....Anyway if I ever expressed not wanting to be physically close to them, they would cry and ask me what was wrong with them and tell me how much they loved me. I even remember once telling them that if they stopped touching me so much, id touch them more. By this just like you know hugs or resting a hand o them or a head or stuff like that.

Anyway…..things kept getting worse and worse and i was so confused what was happening….they started telling me that they could see the future and that in the future we are married and have children and that we are a family. And that they had dreams and in the dreams i was there and that we fucked and stuff. They told me on dream were i fucked them with a dildo (btw i had no clue what a dildo was cause i was like NINE) but when i didn't express happiness about this they cried and questioned me…

most nights we’d stay up till like 3am talking….(tho they were the only one talking), and crying. They spent hours upon hours crying about it. I remember once I fell asleep, like sitting up cause i was so exhausted and they woke me up and were really angry that I had fallen asleep.

This was all…..really scary...I was reminded of my mom...and how we would fight for hours and she’d be screaming and crying and it was all my fault....it was like that.....I ended up just dissociating. I remember this on time they were crying and talking about how they had a dream, where I told them I didn't love them “that way” and after they told me, I didn't reassure them ( cause i didn't love them that way and had never said I did) and they cried more and more and ended up telling me how “cold and Heartless” I was.

Anyway….this sort of thing continued for a while and I ended up trying to combat it by telling them “I just want to be your sibling” but that only made things worse, cause then they would cry and say “but then everyone will think im fucking my sibling” to which….I was confused cause IM NINE and we didn't have any kind of sexual relationship….I think they had convinced them self that we were fucking and in a sexual relationship but….it was only in their head….anyway….it really got bad later I think I was 10 by this point? Which makes them like 19 or 20? And…..yeah I was lying on the bed and they climbed on me like...straddled me…..but leaned down so their lips were by my ear…..and like….told me how “sensitive” I was when being tickled, so I must be really sensitive turning sex. And that they would be really good at fucking me, and that they could force me to cum and make it feel really good, but that im so sensitive they would have to drug me first to keep me still enough. But that wasn't a problem cause if look good like that….or something like that and haha I was so scared I just laid there all still….

anyway…..later we went on a trip so it was just me and them and….I don't remember exactly what happened but….we were lying down next to each other and once again we (they) had been talking for so long and they had been crying and talking about me being their spouse and all and how we would get married and they love me so much and that I love them too (but i didn't not like that) and...anyway….I finally asked what they “wanted of me” and they told me to get on top of them….which like….i didn't know what was gonna happen….we like had tickle fights a lot so….I kind of assumed it was gonna be that, to lighten to mood and all and….anyway they grabbed me by the top of my pants and moved me up and down against them, without saying anything, it all happened so fast….I didn't know what was happening…..I was so scared madhu…..i couldnt speak….I couldn't do anything….I just was frozen, being pulled and pushed against them…..I felt like screaming but….my throat was so tight...I could even blink….I was terrified…..lol….it….felt….you know….it started to feel…..something and that managed to snap me out of being so scared and like a fucking loser I stuttered out “s-s-s-s-s-s-ssts-st-sto,-stop” and they did….and i don't remember how I moved but somehow I ended up by the river and...everything felt...numb...like I was dead….like the world hated me and cut me free of it….they were there too….they had followed me….and they asked if I cum…(I hadn't)....but I just started crying….anyway….

later I was hallucinating (daydreaming?) alot...there was this man in a tree, he was so beautiful, but he just looked at me and shook his head and walked away….I remember asking them later “did I kill her?” (i was still using she / her) and then breaking into tears again lmao. Anyway…..they kept wanting to talk to me and all but I really didn't feel safe around them anymore, like more so. And so I tried sitting in public to talk but they said they weren't comfortable doing so, cause someone might hear, and so I agreed to go back in private. And whatever I played it off as if nothing had happened….but really i was just trying to manipulate the situation so that id be safe, I knew it was pedophilia and that they could go to jail if I talked so I was scared they would do something to keep me quiet (they didn't) but the whole drive home I was just playing music and singing so that their mind would be occupied with that….

anyway we never talked about that and….their obsession with us dating continued till like….last year…. Just last year they said we should go one a double date and I had to remind them we aren't dating and they started to cry again….still to this day they talk about how good I look….and how sexy or hot I am….and...idk we have at this point had a conversation about how that kind of thing really scares me and really isn't good for me…..but they keep doing it…I know they regret what happened all of it, but they keep doing things….they keep touching me and saying stuff about me and….I just….feel disgusting….I don't want to be near them.

Even in that video call with you, they were laying their head one me and all….I hate that….
