But also the blame for all my interest is on your for making a fic that's become my brainworm /j Anyway I was wondering what ur process is for planning and remebering stuff like the timeline. Including the mentions of how much time has exactly passed and the dates, it honestly helps me keep track of the time in the fic. Also would you explain more about Kevin and Jean's time with the Ravens? Them being a high school team is a change I really liked, any reason you decided on it? I feel like I should start signing my asks with an emoji so -🌱

on the timeline: honestly i have a whole two page timeline sub-tab on the fic document where i literally just input every single date mentioned, including times where it's stated "a few weeks after [X event]" just to keep track of it. (i have a terrible habit of writing throwaway lines and then forgetting they exist.) for example, the first page (apologies for the general pixelated-ness of this, i put the raw text in the alt text):

while attempting to look at this through the eyes of someone who hasn't spent hours staring at it, it occurs to me that the most egregious sin of this fic is making them 2000s babies. the excuse for this is that i need the current-day social media climate. the second most egregious sin is that i still haven't updated it to show jean's actual birthday. i have no excuse for this beyond laziness.

on the ravens & kevin + jean's time with them: absolutely, that's going to be elaborated upon (can't really say anything else without approaching spoiler territory, much as it pains me to not yap about this fic).

and the ravens being changed to a high school team was actually mainly because i needed jean to have already gone through the ravens/riko horrors prior to meeting neil, and i needed neil to be a teenager when they met for the sake of him being able to be fostered/adopted by wymack & abby. so the ravens became a high school team. there isn't the mafia angle & they weren't completely isolated from their families, so i think that ultimately makes it more believable that ex-ravens would speak out about the abuse they experienced and witnessed, which is also what i needed to be feasible in this fic

I've always seen R as a contradictory woman—someone who can easily turn on the High Society Glamour, but is also prone to wild nights out and enjoys more than a little hell-raising (all in good fun, of course). To me, this would almost be an opposites-attract scenario; Sally is very orderly and calm, while R is much more unpredictable. I like to imagine Sally got into this relationship thinking she'd met a match, and is now constantly stressed out (affectionately) by R's shenanigans

After Gustav's death, R was worried about Sally being in danger, and tried to help her sort through her brother's papers and keep her out of the firestarter's way—this worked, but I also think Sally would have been upset by it, seeing not as protection, but as a declaration that R doesn't trust her to look after herself

R couldn't be as involved with the organisation around the time of the schism and series due to her position as Duchess, and Sally initially thought this was a good thing because she assumed R would be safe. In reality, it meant that she didn't hear until too late that the firestarting side had taken her, and I absolutely believe Sally was not only one of the first to notice, but would have immediately launched her own investigation into R's disappearance
