Dawn’s Britishisms Headcanons
Since Dawn’s mother was British (and Dawn may have spent the early years of her life in the UK) she picked up some of her mannerisms, word choices, and preferences
She knows the difference between the cornish and devonshire ways to apply jam and cream onto the scones
She prefers the cornish way
She says maths instead of math when referring to mathematics
Prefers english pancakes to american ones
Autumn not fall
Calls the boot of a car the boot rather than the trunk
Uses the term fortnight
Aubergine not eggplant
Adds ‘u’s when writing but not all of the time, so one day she may write ‘my favourite colour is blue’ and then another day write ‘my favorite color is blue’
She is familiar with a decent amount of english slang but doesn’t use them in conversation
Has definitely carried on her mother’s tradition of afternoon tea
When she was little she had a bit of a london twang but she grew out of it
Corrects Hank when he misidentifies things for example, calling a scone a biscuit (which it is not)
Her mother was a bit fan of Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice, Dawn, Holly and their mother would sit down and watch it together
Dawn still watches Strictly and Dancing on Ice - Hank is a fan of the more comical team ups that happen on the shows but would never let on that he watches them
