Announcers do the same for the NFL. I root for the Dallas Cowboys (leave me alone lol) and they never say anything good about them. Especially Troy Aikman when he calls their games. He goes too hard the other way when trying not to sound impartial. If it's not Tom Brady or Pat Mahomes or Aaron Rodger or Joey B, you wouldn't know he liked anyone.

jflksjdklfsdjfdsklfjsdkl i don't know the nfl lore, and i'd never ridicule your choice in team, but i do imagine that kind of bias exists in lots of sports. for the leafs.. it's just astounding to me bc they have some really fun and talented players and a huge fucking market and fanbase. like i don't understand why some people, esp on air commentators and analysts, make their whole personality playing devil's advocate for why they suck as if everyone else on tv is not also doing that.

Ok so as someone who started watching smosh bc of Angela and starkid I gotta know… what are your top three favorite starkid shows?? 👀

Lord! That’s like having to choose between my babies!

Obviously I have a few favorite kids, So here’s the run down,

I remember I had just watched the Snape Snape Severus Snape muppet vid and got AVPM recommended to me and decided, “heck it, sure” (I was just starting my redescent into the Harry Potter fandom) and clicked. Ended up loving it and watching AVPSY and so forth. When I finished I got curious to see what else they had (I had read some comments suggesting they had other musicals) so I checked out the channel and saw they were planning on releasing a new musical soon, “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” (i believe I watched the teaser for it about when it came out). Since that wasn’t out yet I watched “The Trail To Oregon!” And that was pretty much history, loved them ever since. It also means I have a special place in my heart for trail to Oregon (me and Jeff Blim fell in love at first sight)

A Very Potter Musical

I feel like Black Friday is a bit underrated, it’s my personal favorite of the Hatchetfield saga, I think it deserves more. (I could be biased for Angela, my angel) Something about that one is just very me. could be the fact that the sibling relationship between Lex and Hannah really resonated with me, or the fact that Hannah is a neurodivergent girl that’s also a main character, how often does that happen? A+ from me. The music is really good (you could say that about any Starkid production) but “freast & famine” “Black Friday” (Lex’s solo made me remember she’s my favorite) and “What If Tomorrow Comes” have me in a chokehold.

I really could go on forever, I really do love the Hatchetfield series, I even stared watching some of Nightmare time! Haven’t gotten too far in (I’ve also been skipping around a bit) but my favorite of those is Yellow Jacket! Seeing Joey play Ethan did something to my brain chemistry, which is pretty usual with my brain and anything to do with Joey Richter (stupidly enough I remember him on Jessie when he guest starred as Petey, I remember having a crush on him then when I didn’t even know him in Starkid. Small world)(this was also 11 yrs ago so I guess I’ve always had good taste)

So yeah I think I gave all my reasonings for why those are my top 3, I obviously love a lot of the other stuff they’ve done, but haven’t finished certain musicals (I’m working my way through ‘Starship’ I’m like halfway and I’m liking it so far) so I still have a lot I’ve just never seen.

(Really long ask ahead i’m sorry!) I think your thoughts on dick and his similarities vs differences to bruce are so interesting! Personally i’m wondering how much of NTT played an influence on this kind of characterization bc i’ve never fully finished ntt but i read like nearly all the pre-80s batman 1940 issues lol and dick very much was portrayed as more idealistic than bruce in some ways while more no-nonsense (? For lack of better word) in other ways, like when it comes to batman easing up a little on selina for romance reasons LOL. Though ofc dick totally turns into - well, a dick - in team books, as i grow older i find myself far more compelled by a potential story of an 18 yr old who seemed to have the whole weight of the world on his shoulders (by his own perception) and breaking under his own impractically strong sense of duty and sky-high expectations for others, then realizing as he grows older that it doesn’t have to be that way esp after seeing the perspectives of characters like kory, wally, joey, roy, etc. Like personally as someone who never really had a huge interest in NTT anyway, i’m surprised at how desperately people want to hold on to the characterization of dick when he was 18-19 and never letting him grow past that, like it’s so difficult for me to believe that at age 25 he would be the same uptight controlling kid that he was at 19. Maybe i’m biased though bc i was like one of those insufferable INTJ internet stereotypes as a teenager, and while that worldview did bring me achievements i’m proud of like the fact that i’m in med school rn studying what i love, i still know that at age 22 i have changed SO much from when i was 18 and i can’t imagine any reasonably mature or normally-functioning person (let alone someone high-functioning like dick) not doing the same lol. Especially since dick is the kind of person who would literally die if he’s not constantly growing and evolving past his faults bc of his insufferable perfectionism, idk how he’d be willfully blind to the negative effects of his worldview in early NTT and refuse to grow from there. He even has a quote that’s like “i’ve spent years as a student of my own behavior” which i always found highly encouraging bc i know he really does want to improve himself even at his worst. It reminds me of that Marcus Aurelius quote: “if someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any thought or action, i shall gladly change. I seek the truth, which never harmed anyone; the harm is to persist in one’s own self-deception and ignorance.” But what are your thoughts? (Thank you for reading all this 🥹)

oh i absolutely agree! i cannot tell you how many times i think about the person i was a couple years ago and who i am now like i cringe so much omg.. maturity is an ever persistent process even if we don't recognize its effects immediately and it absolutely is crazy to think that anyone would remain in such a static state of mind for several years on end. esp when like you said dick is someone who wants to be better! so despite his several hypocrisies it is nonetheless in his best interests to look internally and analyze and evolve. and i feel like that very much could have happened had there been any actual segue between dick's breakup with kory and his re-entry into the batfam. i don't think there was much of a connection between these two sets of writers at all and so what you got is what felt like two very distinct parts of dick's life that didn't necessarily reveal a bridge point. so it's not entirely unrealistic that dick may grow to be the person (at least to some extent) that bat canon portrayed him to be in the years that followed but i certainly think as it stands it felt unearned and like all of his issues explored in ntt were conveniently swept to the side without any semblance of closure (albeit i do think some of these issues are addressed in outsiders '03 but in that dickheaded way that winick explores things generally. so i'm not sure it's the kind of closure people actually want). it's very sad and ig that's what people cling to more than anything. it's not that they're opposed to him growing to be a better person but that they're opposed to a version of dick who feels like he sprung out of nothing

Dot is AWESOME deuteragonist and even with being created as Buddy's supporting character she's *equal*. She's not "plain girl for male protagonist" type of deal

Abby Lambert is so good. People barely talk about her bc she's more interesting in TIOL and it's Joey book but i ADORE her even with little time in books that she has

In vanilla Bendy games i really love Twisted Alice/Susie Campbell but i should note that she deserved more focus (only in my opinion)

+possibly less "woman hates another woman for being fired" (it looks to me like they lowkey dropped it but. It was kinda here in ch3)

I'm all for women who are far too gone but can still have sympathetic angle. I do feel like devs suffer with reflecting it in writing tho

Audrey is good enough (would appreciate better writing at places but yk). I'm biased because i have hyperfix on her lol. Idk i love her little character moments and Erin did great job at changing tones when it was needed. If Adrienne got her even as side character in some book, she'd greatly benefit from it.

Allison Angel is more enjoyable in DR (to me) but she's more developed in fanon

Allison Pendle on the other hand. . . Erm. I wish she was more than Alice's second VA if you get me

all the girls in the books are fantastic and are genuinely such charming characters. they're well written CHARACTERS and i feel like sometimes people forget that writing a women is writing a PERSON but Kress never really does that and i appreciate her so much for it.

i need to appreciate Abby more i love her dearly i just don't think about her much. she's so good, i wish we got more of her but i get that it's Joey's book.

MALICE/SUSIE HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL AND SHE DESERVES BETTER WRITING. i love her so much but gosh her writing could be better. especially in batdr like queen im so glad you're here but what ARE you doing here. can we get more of your character struggles, a little insight into how thats going maybe?? and yeah the hating another woman cause she was fired is a bit touch and go but i feel like with the right writers they could make it work. they unfortunately do not seem like theyre trying to do that

i do love Audrey i just have problems with some of the batdr writing. like how she kinda just goes along with whatever opinion she needs to have to move the plot along and at times i was like WHY ARE YOU SIDING WITH HIM/DOING THIS but thats not her fault. she has her good character moments and yeah Erin did a fantastic job voicing her. and she would REALLY benefit from being written by Kress, you're right. a lot of the characters would (cough susie cough)

in FTB though i really REALLY liked her characterization, with how she was tired of being expected to be the entertainment when she's a guest. it felt realistic, and makes sense with what little else we know about her. I need more private moments with her, ones where she isnt putting up a mask to perform, because only then we'll see what she's really like. and shes SO sweet with Rose, i really adore thar scene in general.

12. Favorite/Best actor?

I have A Lot of favorites. I could go on for ages about how much I love Lauren Lopez's acting, she's fucking incredible. James is excellent, and I can't wait for him to hopefully get some bigger roles in future SK shows, Hatchetfield or otherwise (also he's my favorite SK choreographer/dancer). I might be a little biased towards Joey and Jon bc they played the protagonist of the first SK show I ever watched, and my current favorite SK protagonist respectively (I'm talking abt Bug and Paul), but that doesn't change that they're just *chef's kiss* magnifique. And it'd be a crime not to mention Mariah, since she's the only Starkid actor I've ever seen perform live (Mean Girls tour in Pittsburgh, babeyyyyy), and it was a spiritual experience. I could go on, but those are just the first 5 that come to mind.

She could be potentially "in fault" for Audrey existing later and i find it interesting!! ESPECIALLY combined with Rose if you'll look deeper into this

Joey says "Never had any kids,but i could see the appeal, if they were as bright as you,say" and i can't stop thinking about Rose having some impact on Joey.

They had some closeness (even w Joey being on his lowest) and she was able to pull him out of his "puddles" and Joey called Rose a "kid"..

Likely I'm biased bc i love all bendy protagonists but this part makes Constance, Rose and Audrey more interesting to me idk. Allison making Joey want to create a family somewhat counts too; girl had no idea what she has started
