Despotic - Undertale AU SPEEDPAINT

Character I’ve had for a while and had the random compulsion to make a drawing out of it. There’s the speedpaint I linked above if you’re interested, and a bit of backstory behind the character under the cut if you’re interested in that as well.

My favorite versions of Frisk are like... bored. Rather than having some tragic backstory from the surface and likes to laugh and is really kind, it's just... somewhat cold, crisp, cunning, and determined. If they do something there's a reason and an end goal.

My favorite stories involving the character have to do with manipulating the timeline. I saw a great post this one time talking about how in the sans fight, he can tell how many times you've fought him just based on expression alone. And how he might feel when met with somebody who just meets him with dead faced boredom. Somebody who's seen and played and beat this fight so often and so frequently they just pass through the dialogue, knowing every word and attack. A player that has been watching this game for years and has seen this fight countless times to the point it can't even interest them anymore. That must be terrifying.

So I also think about it in the reverse direction. If Frisk is... a character rather than a vessel for the player, how bored must they be? To have seen every variation hundreds of times and having no way to escape.

Which is where I get the backstories for Desp's human and things. About how a character version of Frisk wouldn't be stuck to one timeline, they'd be stuck to do an endless amount of things with their free will and... still end up bored? Like Flowey did. Desp's human started going so far out of the box with boredom that they were just trying to find a way to get out of the world.

Frisk had access to the true pacifist route, so it also meant they could also repeat their years up there over and over again. So imagine XTale, where Chara and Frisk got their life up there over and over again, except Frisk was still in charge of it and did it so many times the surface up there got boring.

In these timelines Frisk commonly befriended the Sans from that universe (This world was never just ‘Undertale’ like a lot of AU sans backstories start out as). Maybe Frisk broke down and tried explaining this all to him, and like Cross, Sans was very against the ideas Frisk had about trying to destroy this world or find a way out of it? And Frisk somehow found a way to code back in his memories from every single reset ever... so like... possibly several centuries of memories...

Whatever the case, they end up in an empty world together. Weather the world is empty because the human forced him into killing people or because they somehow DID fuck up the world’s code and deleted everything doesn’t really matter? What does end up mattering is that they share a soul now and are stuck with each other until probably forever because the reset broke when they merged.

Sans acts like he really dislikes the human still, but the longer time they spend sharing a soul the more they start to acts and think like the other. The human has the more powerful soul though, so it’s mostly Sans adopting traits from them. He slowly grows to become more bored and dull like them, understanding their position more, and the human starts having phantom memories about actually caring.

Eventually after a year of solitude the two of them are so bored. As much as the other's company has helped and they've liked it it's boring. This is probably the point in time that Nightmare gets involved feeling kinda bad for them probably.

Again, pretty messy plot sense it’s not entirely thought out yet... I think it’s still a cool concept though that could be explored better in the future.
