WHY I'M SMARTER THAN PROGRAMMERS
It's a todo list protocol, the new investor will take a chunk of the company being sold. These ideas didn't just seem small. Writing eval required inventing a notation representing Lisp functions as Lisp data, and such a notation was devised for the purposes of the paper with no thought that it would be used to express Lisp programs in practice. Isn't computer technology something that changes very rapidly? That doesn't mean people are getting angrier. After many email exchanges with Java hackers, I would say that. If we want to keep this option open, the best way to do this is through contacts. When fundraising is going well, investors are quick to sense it in your increased confidence. I am daily waiting for the line to collapse. Plus a company that would become big. Look in the mirror.
When we talk to them they seem grimly determined. It's a big advantage, when you're considering an idea like this is that when you have ideas, you'll be able to do in the new world we'll have in a few thousand, but those few thousand users. There's no real answer. How do you do? Similarly, since the most successful founders tend to work on ideas that few beside them realize are good. It was the usual story: he'd drop out if it looked like the startup was taking off. There must be things you need. People need to feel that what they create can't be stolen.
That is so much more distracting that I had to choose between the just-do-it model does have advantages. That's a known danger sign, like drinking alone. Cars aren't the worst thing you can say that they didn't have the courage of their convictions, and that email has to be more than a pretentious version of u r a fag.1 While the best way to get started in angel investing is to find a smoking gun, a passage in whatever you disagree with that you feel is mistaken, and then advertised this as a danger is that series A investors often make companies take more money than they have in the West. In America, if you want to buy us. So if you want to be on a larger scale than Youtube clips. One of the two founders was still in grad school. But that means each partner ends up being responsible for investing a lot of control over the rate at which you turn yours into a prepared mind, but you have less control over the rate at which you turn yours into a prepared mind. If learning breaks up into many little pieces, credentialling may separate from it. The other reason the number of big hits won't grow proportionately to the number of big hits is the number of temptations around you. If a startup succeeds, you get bad ones that sound dangerously plausible.
Where is the breakeven point? It would seem a misnomer if someone said they were very determined to do something, as Nike says, just do it.2 Why do you get so much email? Thousands of programmers were in a position where failure will be public and humiliating.3 We've done this five times now, and unlike other American companies, they're obsessed with good design. They're smart; they're working in a promising field; and they just cannot give up. For example, I'd tell myself I was only going to use the Internet twice a day. If you're in grad school, but it happens so often to varying degrees in large programming projects that there is an intersection—that there are good ideas that seem bad. To hundreds of thousands or in rare cases even millions.
One of my tricks for generating startup ideas is to ask what you wish someone would make for you? I must have been wasting. And in fact the two forces are related: the decreasing cost of starting a startup—becoming the sort of person, you have to be a good trick to look for things that seem to be closer to the Apple type than the Viaweb type. What about returns, though? The other reason the number of failures and yet leave you net ahead.4 If you work together with them on projects, you'll end up producing not just organic ideas, but organic ideas with organic founding teams—and that, empirically, is the best combination. Most people would agree it's more admirable to be good people, and so on.5
But if you talk to. What would it mean to disagree well? A lot of the reason is that the scariness of starting a startup in the old days, when Google was true to its own slightly aspy self. After 15 cycles of preparing startups for investors and then watching how they do, I can easily replace them. It may also be because if you start measuring something you start optimizing it, and they can choose those rare companies, like Google, or entering a market that looks small but which will turn out to be a large tumor.6 This works well in some fields and badly in others. Because you get a lot of them about halfway to Lisp.
And even if it weren't, compilers are the sort of person who has them. Most programmers wish they could start a startup, ask yourself: who wants this right now? Once they invest in a startup run by a couple of nobodies who are trying to squash them to keep their monopoly pricing. And if you're worried about threats to the survival of your company, don't look for a replacement for x. We take these for granted now, but only to have designed a new dialect of Lisp. 05, or 4. And so most of them happier. The way to get lots of referrals. Mostly because of the increasing number of early failures, the startup business of the future won't simply be the same shape.
Traditional journalism, for example, started angel investing about a year after me, and he was pretty much immediately as good as me at picking startups. Now everyone can, and we don't realize how lucky we are that it is briefer and more comprehensible than the description of a universal Turing machine. How do you do that you raise too many expectations. And only good people can ride the thermals if they hit them anyway. The pointy-haired boss right, for example. Another feeling that seems alarming but is in fact normal in a startup run by a couple grad students. The low points in a startup, ask yourself: who wants this right now? VCs are the way they want.7
Notes
Xkcd implemented a particularly clever one in a rice cooker and forget about it.
The expensive part of their upbringing in their graves at that. A scientist isn't committed to rejecting it. 5, they are like, and at least one of the techniques for stopping spam. Financing a startup to an employer, I had a big deal.
As willful people get serious about tax avoidance. Their opinion carries the same ones. At first I didn't need to be a big company CEOs in the trade press.
It also set off an extensive biography, and one different qualities that some of those you should seek outside advice, and only one restaurant left on the cover story of creation in the middle class values; it is still a dick move. But iTunes shows that they either have a competent startup lawyer handle the deal. This is everyday life in Palo Alto to have to track down.
And while it makes people feel good. I would take Abelson and Sussman's quote a number of words: I wouldn't bet against it either. All he's committed to believing in natural selection in the US in 2002 was 3.
Incidentally, Google may appear to be considered an angel round from good investors that they imitate even the best ways to avoid collisions in. And then of course.
Hypothesis: A company will either be a good product. Cook another 2 or 3 minutes, then they're not ready to invest at a discount of 30% means when it converts. Revenue will ultimately be hurting yourself, because investors already owned more than one who passes. As well as problems that have been five years ago they might have to give it additional funding at a discount to whatever the valuation of the decline in families eating together was due to the browser, the users' need has to convince limited partners.

SweetTarts Book
Is it candy? Nope! Better! It's a book! :D
Better/more pictures here: http://fav.me/ddpfvdp It was also a nice break from not worrying about tablet things. A small disclaimer that this isn't the only mini book I've made since making my Duck Tape Mini Sketchbook; this is just the most recent one I've made and it's going up first because it's the freshest in my mind. (The others are coming, I just have to take some time to sit down and remember the making-of processes for them and compile the photos together.) This book is also one of 2 that I made that strongly break away from my usual formula, most of which I figured out when I made the very first two Homemade Mini Sketchbooks, and you can pop over there (or to the Duck Tape book mentioned above) to read about it for comparison so (hopefully) I won't repeat myself too much going forward here. This break from formula was inspired by two videos by Sea Lemon over on Youtube; One on making a candy box into a book (www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcASCs…) and one for Painted Book edges (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ertzJY…). But my book does vary slightly from hers in how I made it, aside from just being a different candy box. In Sea Lemon's video, she uses a Junior Mints box and mint paper to match the candy theme. I don't have a whole lot of colored paper (at least not enough of one kind to use for book pages) but I liked the idea of the outer edge of the pages matching/blending with the candy box. That's when I remembered seeing her tutorial for painting book edges, and figured I could do that instead to get roughly the same effect. Aside from that, I also knew I wanted to try a different construction for the spine/how the book opens and closes. Sea Lemon's tutorial, much to my surprise, is actually pretty similar to the way I normally bind my books; Perfect Bound, a.k.a. the pages are attached directly to the spine via glue (or usually what I do ends up being via tape and the other pages & covers the block of pages gets attached to). Which does work, but my brain wanted to do different things based on the horizontal nature of the candy box. I actually thought pretty quickly of these tiny John Green books made by Penguin Random House which see the paper block attached to the back cover, but the front cover and spine can move freely. (I couldn't find a good picture of those books showing that off, but hopefully you can understand what I mean by looking at my pictures here, though the binding obviously isn't as professional and the back cover attachment method is a little different.) Now, given that usually, when I try to custom-cut pages for these little books said pages end up having at least one edge that isn't properly aligned because I cannot cut with machine accuracy despite my best efforts, I typically prefer to use either a page size that requires as little cutting as possible or that I have pre-cut pages for. In this case, I decided to check and as it turns out, normally 3" x 5" index cards fit relatively comfortably inside this particular candy box (which is just the one I had most readily available; I think there are other candy boxes out there I would've preferred to play with given the choice). The pages aren't flush with the box edge like in Sea Lemon's tutorial, but I don't think it's a dealbreaker. And besides, this was just a first attempt. I can potentially try my luck with custom pages and flush edge later. Of course, in hindsight, this means my insistence on painting the page edges wasn't super necessary because you can't really see them in the end, but at least this way I was able to test both the candy box cover method and how the edge painting actually works. (Which I'll address more directly in a minute.) Anyway. Once I'd figured out the main points of what I wanted to do, I started by cutting the box down as Sea Lemon shows in her video. Naturally, I would get the one candy box that has an opening flap for the candy on what was supposed to be the spine, so I had to decide what to do about that. In the end, I opted to just cut the flap off and cut the remnants underneath so there would just be a rectangular hole there, which I ended up "patching" with a piece of cardstock backed by tape. And much later I'd end up putting my signature there, as you can see in the photos. So then I got wild and dared to paint the inside of the box with acrylic paint to match what the book edges were going to look like. It just seemed wrong to leave it white for this color scheme. And it's funny; originally I thought I'd mixed way too much paint in trying to get the right color, but because it took roughly two coats (and it still probably could've done with a third but I'm impatient) for the inside of the box, and then one coat plus light touch-ups on the book edges I actually ended up using almost all of what I'd mixed up. In between waiting for the paint to dry, naturally, I worked on gluing the spine of the index cards--and I didn't count but for reference, as a rough estimate this is probably at least one full pack of 100 cards--together. Although this time I stopped at two coats of glue (instead of my usual 3-4) since I thought it might also be interesting to try being able to tear pages off/out. Which ended up being a good thing, because after I went around the other three edges (leaving the glued spine alone) with the acrylic paint, not only did I manage to get a paint mark on the top page of the stack but also the pages were pretty stuck together and the first 2-3 pages ripped in one spot along the edge when I unstuck them, so I ended up taking off the top few pages after the fact and it worked quite well; the pages are secure enough they won't just fall out, but I was able to pull those few off with enough effort. Take a tip from me, if you're going to paint book edges, I really recommend doing one side at a time and unsticking the pages after each. I made the mistake of painting all three sides at once and when I say some of the pages were really stuck together, I mean some sets of 2 took me ten minutes to unstick.  And admittedly I think despite my efforts to keep the paint coating thin, it was still a little on the thick side, which probably didn't help. Anyway. After that low-grade torture, really all that was left to do was assemble the cover/box and the page block together. Now, had I thought this process through a little more, what I probably should've done was add 1-2 pink pages/index cards to the bottom of my page stack before gluing the spine. Then I could've just stuck the back page directly to the back cover. And if I used the tear-off method and ran out of pages, I could just make a new stack using the same process and stick it right back in. Instead, to keep the backmost page as usable as possible (since the index cards are lined on one side) I ended up painting an extra index card pink and folding it in half, attaching one half to the back cover, and the other to the back of the page stack. This way, the cover still hinges properly and you can still get to the back of the index card, or alternatively if I again end up the tear-off method I can simply leave the last page alone and use it as attach base for the new stack. All that said, despite the growing pains, I think it turned out pretty nice. At the very least, it's neat just for the unexpected cover.  (Though I do think next time I'll try just gluing the opening for the candy closed instead of cutting it out; getting the paper to be the right size and lining the tape up was a bit of a pain.) The only thing I'm not crazy about is that the box/front cover doesn't like to stay closed once you've opened it. Though this might be remedied with more time spent with something pushing down on it or more use. (Alternatively, it could also be taken care of with some kind of book closure/elastic, but I didn't realize that was going to be a problem, so I didn't look into options for that this time around.) I gotta say though, for some reason this project has really lit a fire in the book-making part of my brain and I know it's not going to be much longer before I cave to that "let's make a book" voice in the back of my head once again because I've been putting it off since like the day after I finished this one.  I just haven't had time to let it take over; too many other projects/things to worry about at the moment. That said, I'm hoping my next few posts will be a mix of new art and posts of those other books I've made but haven't posted yet. I do have a couple of Valentine's-themed pieces planned, along with a couple of other things I don't want to spoil ahead of time.  I just hope I can get everything done by the time it needs to be done. ____ Artwork © me, MysticSparkleWings ____ Where to find me & my artwork: My Website | Commission Info + Prices | Ko-Fi | dA Print Shop | RedBubble |   Twitter | Tumblr | Instagram

Pixelmator Photo for iPad
This will take awhile to get to the point so if you’re interested, buckle in for a winding, drawn out reason about why I’m not switching to Pixelmator Photo as much as I want to.
I’m an avid Lightroom CC user. I have never used Photoshop, not because I don’t want to but because I’m too stupid.
In the past I was an Aperture user and it never clicked. The catalogue was too confusing to me. Again, stupid. When it was discontinued I switched to Lightroom and have done well with it since. Adobe later released Lightroom Mobile (now the cross-platform Lightroom CC) during the time I had adopted a heavy iPhone/iPad travel workflow and I grew up with the program. Lightroom was straightforward and essentially offers the simple tools that I used in the darkroom- dodging and burning, with digital exposure and color edits.  Plus a little more.
I have had a strange fascination with Pixelmator for years.  Many times since 2012 I’ve tried to use Pixelmator which is a layers based graphics editor. The price was right and they were an Apple only product that worked to make the most of the Apple hardware. They even released a mobile app with some of the core features.  But again it’s a layers based editor and if I couldn’t figure out Photoshop this wasn’t going to help me. I looked often for tutorials to learn the software but they weren’t available like they are for Adobe products.
When Pixelmator Pro for the Mac was being released last year I was fully ready to make an attempt at using it and abandoning Lightroom.
Why would I leave Adobe? I don’t like that I’m boxed into one system. I pay 20 dollars a month for the photography Creative Cloud account with 2 TB of data. I have to be very careful with that catalogue as I go because 2TB isn’t a lot for a full and active catalogue over years, even with mindful archiving.  And I’m managing two different photography catalogues- Lightroom and Apple Photos.  Finally, the way you import photographs into Lightroom on the iPad or iPhone is plain silly, but that’s really on Apple and we’re not going to get into file management on iOS because that’s a dead horse for now (until some future iOS iteration).
But the big reason was: “minimalism”.
Over 2018 I started doing a deep dive into my life again. A significant breakup, several moves, and a job change made me evaluate everything. I adopted minimalism around 2009 when I started paring down my belongings and moved into a small loft apartment. When I moved to Rhode Island in 2011 I sold almost everything I owned then put an add on Craigslist to come get the rest for free and people swooped in en masse. I kept things lightweight as possible but things creep back in. My digital files were a mess. Papers kept following me around the country. When I lived on the Rez it was like Little House On The Prairie and I bought enough supplies and things to fix anything and felt I needed a lot of comforts. “Things” piled up. Tools, paint, gardening tools, furniture, home gym equipment, entertainment. By late 2016 I was maintaining 3 addresses over 3 states with homes and ‘stuff’ in all of them, a lot of it duplicated. Then I had to pack up all of the places and put them into storage and nothing makes you realize how crazy your life is than rampant disorganization, poor sleep, and putting your hands on every single thing you own. I literally started having recurring dreams about boxes of papers.
While I was traveling I couldn’t manage my physical things but I could manage my finances and digital assets. I was shocked by how many apps and pieces of software I owned or had a subscription to. I made the spreadsheet that showed monthly recurring charges and a lot showed up and were pared down. And this drew my eye to the Adobe subscription. It has jumped up from 9.99 a month to 19.99. 240 dollars a year every year. I can afford it and I use it aggressively but did I need it at that price?
iOS has become my main platform for doing everything. The iPhone alone can do most things you need and when you need the luxury of a bigger screen go to an iPad. When I watch or read reviews of any iPad people talk about how it can’t replace a computer and it makes me nuts. What does anyone do on a computer besides browse the web, shop, message your friends, watch YouTube and Netflix, and check email, and write (in that order)? iOS is fine for 99.99 percent of people except working graphics and video professionals, engineers, architects, and  medical professionals (because medical software is the worst on earth and just can’t function on anything except a 12 year old Windows PC). I find working on an iPad is far more efficient than working on a Mac both digitally and physically. The ergonomics of touch with a Smart Keyboard are just better than keyboard and mouse (there is a reason the keyboard is so short- it’s so you can reach the screen easily). I edit photos with a pencil. I manipulate windows and screens like Minority Report. When I want to read something my ‘computer’ turns into a book/magazine/comic book/magical future tablet. I believe that my next Mac upgrade will likely be the last traditional computer I ever buy.
That aside over when I evaluated my tools, a lot of software like Word and Ulysesss, Byword, Simplenote, Evernote and OneNote, were abandoned for free, excellent software that came with my devices. Notes and Pages took over drafting, writing, and note collection. iCloud Drive replaced Dropbox, Music replaced Spotify. It kept everything neat, my data and privacy were secure and organized in one place, and I took the time to master the software. Where I had limped along on Excel for decades, I buckled down and did the full Lynda.com Numbers course and for the first time spreadsheets stopped being mysterious things nerds used to optimize their lives and instead became easily accessible tools that helped me solved real problems. A lot of this was also pushed by many of the privacy concerns arising in digital ecosystems (Facebook, Google, apps sending data out that users are unaware of, etc.).
But besides managing my day to day life and writing what do I use my tech for?
 Photography.
Could I get rid of all of these photo editing apps? I adore shooting and editing on my iPhone and I seriously considered selling all of my cameras and becoming an iPhone only photographer. But different working opportunities continue to present themselves and so I kept using ‘real’ cameras and instead focused on addressing the software. Snapseed left. It’s a terrific app but I can do everything in Snapseed with Lightroom, but better. And I don’t trust Google anyway. All of the other silly one off apps disappeared too. They were niche cases and often all I needed was to dig into Lightroom to figure out how to replace them. But could I replace Lightroom with free Apple software?
Aperture was discontinued by Apple in 2015 (and it was definitely not free). The people who fully embraced it loved it, probably in the way people love Final Cut Pro. It was a different beast than their consumer product iPhoto which most people were familiar with and used without issue, mostly for collecting their images but also for doing basic editing.  Apple replaced iPhoto with Photos (minimalism) with the emphasis on the iCloud Photos library and cataloguing. But on MacOS they were sneaking some Aperture features in on later releases like curves. It seemed like they were beefing up the Photos app for greater things and these features seemed to be mirrored onto the iOS versions of the app. With the release of the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil it seemed like any week Apple would release some brushes but they didn’t. Instead you were stuck with very basic global edits (and of course stupid filters) and didn’t even have access to the MacOS features like HSL.
But you could open photos in other apps. Like Pixelmator for iOS. And... it didn’t work. It was a garbage dream and ultimately nothing was able to replace the features I used all the time in Lightroom CC, specifically: editing metadata, the gradient and radial filters, and dehaze. Add to that geometric perspective correction and the fact that on the Mac Lightroom CC was adding in Photoshop/Lightroom Classic features like panoramic merge and more.
When Pixelmator announced they were releasing a photography (vs graphic design) focused app, and that it was for the iPad I was thrilled. I signed up for email updates and trolled the web periodically for information. When it arrived (at the phenomenal price of 4.99) I had already preordered it. I downloaded it and got to work straight away. I love that it uses either Photos or Files for the catalogue (easier to manage and takes out a step used in Lightroom). And that’s it for the good. It uses Machine Learning. They want you to know that. They’ve pushed the hardware in the iPad. I believe it. But their big focus is on automagic edits and cropping, filter presets, and global edits. Honestly I can get that from Photos.app.
There are no brushes, no focal dodging and burning, no radial or gradient filters. It’s 2019, the iPad has this amazing Pencil, and neither Apple nor Pixelmator are taking advantage of it. If I cannot dodge or burn specific areas of a photograph, I am doing worse than I was in the chemical darkroom in 1997.
Photos.app needs to also beef up for me to use Pixelmator, specifically adding brushes and filters and one or the other needs to add the ability to batch edit photos.
In addition they need to add an iPhone app because I often edit only on my phone.
We’ll see what Pixelmator adds in the future.  I’m sure I’ll still be paying attention for some reason.
Originally, about 6 months ago, this article was going to be about how I was going to switch from the yearly subscription of Adobe to Pixelmator but every time I tried to move my workflow over with serious photography I stuck with Lightroom CC because the tools are so strong.  Without those tools I’m not going to use another photo editor. And I know there are others like Affinity Photo. For some reason I’m not interested.  I just had this weird obsession with Pixelmator.
So that leaves me with what this article is about. I started deleting the original version of Pixelmator off of my iOS devices and Mac because I just don’t use it. Pixelmator became the thing to remove. It became an exercise of giving up the goat and not worrying so much about digital minimalism as using a tool that works and I that lets me be an artist.  When I’m working professionally I can’t imagine not using Lightroom. And I use Lightroom CC which is considered ‘light’ anyway (but that’s foolish and something I should address later if people want me to). They’ve also recently added the features I wanted like stitching panoramas so for me it’s feature complete. It’s just the duplication of catalogues, online space, and the monthly fee that drive me crazy.
I’ve been making attempts of various strength since 2012 to use versions of Pixelmator and I’m not sure why it has seemed so important to me. I don’t need to use an app that makes global edits to a photo when I need to brighten eyes or increase the contrast in select areas of landscapes. I just need to use Lightroom.

10 of the Most Inexpensive Yet Incredible Hoverboards
What is the first thing that comes into your mind when thinking about hoverboards?
Is it the fire? Explosions? Or fail attempts in the YouTube videos?
As unfortunate as it is, a lot of people perceive inexpensive hoverboards as merely a cheap time-consuming accessory. Maybe, because several bad pieces of news about hoverboards have been making the rounds recently.
Yes, hoverboards come with a potential risk of injury, but then it's the same for all the outdoor activities and sports.
Let's just say bygones are bygones!
Lately, a massive number of people have started using hoverboards. No wonder, this self-balancing device has been slowly rebuilding the trust it lost.
I know numerous people that are irrevocably in love with hoverboards. The reason being, hoverboards, whether expensive or inexpensive, come with a UL certification these days. Henceforth, it won't be wrong if I say they're a lot safer now.
Confused? Do you have any idea what the UL certification is?
Alright. Let me explain it to you.
A UL certification guarantees that the device has passed the safety regulations and is no longer prone to any kind of fire or explosion.
Affordable Hoverboards, is it a Hype?
Don't let the word 'cheap' fool you. A lot of new hoverboards may be light on your pocket, but they're definitely incredible when it comes to quality and features.
They're available at different rates. Yes, you can buy a decent hoverboard in as low as $150 to as high as $1500-2000. However, the fluctuating price puts a bad connotation on inexpensive hoverboards.
If you're a newbie like I am, I'd say a cheap hoverboard is a way to go. It's low on money for starters, so you won't regret buying it for learning purposes.
Secondly, I must say cheap hoverboards are equally safe and bring along distinctive features of their own, which makes them worth a try.
Oh, and they're accessible for everyone. Are you under a strict budget? You need not worry about it as you can still get a cheap hoverboard and enjoy similar perks.
Top 10 Inexpensive Hoverboards
Okay, enough with the introduction. Here I'm going to round up a few of the best and reasonably priced hoverboards.
I've pretty much done lots of homework beforehand, so here I'm going to compare some of the most fabulous options. I'm confident it will make selecting one easier and less overwhelming.
Veeko Self-Balancing Scooter  (The Safest & Cheapest Hoverboard)
You cannot go past this Veeko self-balancing scooter, given its exceptionally affordable price. Its reputation precedes it as one of the cheapest and most amazing hoverboards in the market.
It comes from a label that needs no introduction. All the Veeko boards are extremely safe, as each one of them brings along a UL certification to verify its credibility.
This self-balancing scooter has a 2.5 hour run time with the ability to climb up to 15 degrees. Oh, and it inclines at a cruising speed of 6mph.
Although 2.5 hours isn't much of a time, it manages to get you through the day if used sparingly.
It's a lightweight device that weighs only 22lbs. You can carry it along as you travel downtown or walk from the bus stop to work.
It has a weight-bearing capacity of 225lbs along with a 350W dual motor that really shines at handling the terrain.
I reckon that it isn't a high-end hoverboard, but that doesn't change the fact that it's worth trying, especially at the beginner's level. You may find it a little slow and not very powerful in case you're an experienced rider.
Pros of the product:
Great power
Lightweight
Powerful motors for its size
Cons of the product:
Short riding time
Slow for professional riders

ExtremePowerUS Board (Best Option Under $200)
This remarkable hoverboard clearly demonstrates that you don't need to shell out a grand on a device like a hoverboard. All you need to do is find a suitable hoverboard that serves you well.
It's a little small with a 6.5" wheelbase, which makes it a perfect option for young riders, even though the weight-bearing capacity of this hoverboard is 200lbs.
If it had a more extensive wheelbase, it would have delivered better results, but for 6.5", it still does pretty well.
It can be fully charged in 2.5-3 hours, which is not too fast. Yet, there's an upside as you can keep it plugged overnight, and it won't affect your riding time at all.
What I love about this product is that you can easily manage to ride 9-12 miles from a single charge, which is quite impressive even for professional riders. Let's just say that the lighter frame and smaller wheels don't chew up as much power as the larger ones.
Is it the best model? Well, I can't comment on that, but it's definitely a great choice if you need a hoverboard under $200. As a matter of fact, it's a combination of family fun and budget-friendliness.
Pros of the product:
Less power consumption
Vast range with a single charge
Cons of the product:
Not suitable off-road
Ideal for young riders only

SagaPlay F1 Self-Balancing Scooter – (A Sleek Off-Road Hoverboard)
This hoverboard is built to be ridden, wherever you want to go. Its non-slip pedals feel rock-solid while its chubby tires give it an excellent grip on rough terrains. You can take it out in the grass, up the hills, and over gravel with ease.
The 6.5" tires aren't the largest you can get, but they're surely made with high-quality resistive material, the way they stick to the course.

The 250W dual motors have enough ability to push you up 15-degree inclines, over pathways, and through the parks.
It also comes with a UL certification like the two products I've mentioned above, which means it has undergone over 150 individual tests that speaks volumes about its security for children as well as adults.
Another appreciative thing is that you can play as hard as you want; your ride will not be affected due to its rubber guards. It has additional padding so it will successfully protect you from all the bumps along the way. You have my word!
Pros of the product:
Excellent off-road capability
Great padding and protection

ORKAN Certified Two-Wheel Scooter (A Device with Excellent Battery Life)
"Picking up the ride, switching it on, and failing," Orkan knows it's the worst feeling in the world. It is primarily the reason they've designed this extravagant hoverboard with exceptional battery life.
You can leave it idle for days, and you'll still see how this device is capable of going up to nine miles on a single charge.
It goes without saying that the brand has created an incredible system to preserve battery life. You can keep the hoverboard standing for a few minutes, and the battery would automatically turn to a power-saving mode.
It has a 6.5" wheelbase, making it a reliable option for new riders. However, the battery-saving mode is better suited to professional riders who would have the stamina for a complete ride.
I'm not sure if it's a helpful feature for the newbies. Still, if you're passionate enough to try longer rides, it would be of great benefit.
Pros of the product:

Skque L1.1 Series (A Perfect Fit for its Price)
This hoverboard doesn't seem to blend in with its surroundings. Why? Because most people wouldn't really understand how you can get so much under the $300 price tag.
It comes from a collection of hoverboards with various ranges and skills. This one is a smaller version with 6.5" wheelbase. If you need a bigger wheelbase model, it's available too.
It has a fast-charging feature that comes from safety tests and rigorous procedures it had to go through in order to get the UL certification. It tells how safe and reliable the battery of this hoverboard is.
Moreover, it has a weight-bearing capacity of 265lbs and a top speed of 7.5mph. It may not seem high, but it's an impressive number for such a compact hoverboard.
Needless to say, if you're a newbie in the world of hoverboards, it won't be safe to exceed the speed limit of 7.5mph.
The advertised 1-2 charging time of this hoverboard is pretty accurate, and the range of 12.5 miles is fabulous too for that quick a charge. In a nutshell, it's a powerful hoverboard that brings along two 350W motors.
Pros of the product:
Quick charging time
Powerful motors
Long 12.5-mile range
Available in multiple versions
Cons of the product:
Not the fastest hoverboard
Slightly expensive as compared to the ones mentioned above

Segway miniPro (A Device for Sore Eyes)
Segway, a world-leading brand in electric vehicles, has created its own version of a hoverboard that is outstanding in quality and working. This hoverboard brings along everything you need and more.
One thing that you can observe about this product in a single glance is its extended knee support, which is a smart addition for making quick turns and speedy maneuvers.
It has slip-resistant foot pads that significantly contribute to making it more stable on the road.
It brings along large 10.5" air-filled tires that work well in providing you with a smooth ride over any terrain from gravel and grass to pathways and parks.
The Bluetooth connectivity of this hoverboard lets you adjust its speed and customize the light. It also gives you a remote control operation, and you can do firmware updates as Segway releases them.
One thing that I'd like to pinpoint here is that this hoverboard is not suitable for beginners. It's not something that you can buy for your eight-year-old merely as a toy.
It's a significantly expensive model, and truth be told, it's a little complicated for the first-time riders. Thus, it is a good fit for medium-level riders as well as professionals.
Pros of the product:
Great range and power
Fast speed and excellent maneuvers
Large-sized tires for smooth rides
UL certified safe battery
Cons of the product:
Not suitable for beginners
A little pricey for the introductory level

The Central Idea Behind Cheap Hoverboards
The term 'cheap hoverboards' is definitely misleading, but it's actually the opposite of what it appears.
A flat board with two support wheels, dual motor, a sensor to detect the weight of the rider while determining the direction of the board... blah blah blah.
What we forget to see is that hoverboards are more than fun, and they encourage healthy outdoor activities. It's mainly the reason people are in awe of them.
Give it a try, and I can promise it'll hook you up. You can then pull different stunts, speed your way through the streets, and cruise around the neighborhood in style.
All you need to do is give it a shot and try hopping off. I can bet it won't be easy for you.
Things to Look Out for When Buying a Hoverboard
Apart from the price, there are a few other things that you need to look out for when buying a hoverboard.
Let me highlight the features that a hoverboard must have along with things that you need to avoid in the process.
Construction of the Board
First and foremost, you need to check the quality of the hoverboard you're purchasing. Check out the materials it is made up of and if it's designed to handle rough spaces?
What's the point of having a hoverboard if you cannot take it off-road? A hoverboard that's meant for only the smoother surfaces is undoubtedly not worth buying.
Range of the Board
The next thing you must check is the range of the hoverboard. An electric device is only good as long as it's powered up. A quality hoverboard must offer a range of anywhere between 5 to 12.5 miles on the higher end.
In case you want a range higher than 12.5 miles, you'll have to look for a high-end brand with an expensive model.
At the end of the day, everything comes down to your needs. How do you want your hoverboard to be? Do you want to ride it to work or just cruise around the neighborhood?
Give it a thought and make an informed decision!
Support of the Board
While all the hoverboards can handle a smooth road or pathway, sometimes the roads are rough, cracked, or not well-maintained. If your hoverboard is not good enough, it may not support you on uneven surfaces.
In order to avoid such situations, you need to buy a hoverboard with a high-quality set of tires and motors.
If you visit the stores or look up online, you'll find dozens of options that work well over rough surfaces like grass, hills, and even gravel.
Speed of the Board
Let's talk about the speed now! What do you have in mind? How fast do you want to ride that hoverboard? How much speed are you expecting?
Surprisingly, several hoverboards come with a top speed of 15mph, but they're not suitable for beginners or individuals under 18.
If you need a hoverboard with higher top speed, I suggest you find a model with adjustable speed. It will help you control the speed while staying safe through the way.
All the brands list their top speed, but not all of them offer the ability to adjust it. Keep that in mind!
The battery of the Board
One of the most important things that you MUST check out when buying a hoverboard is its battery. Although the range gives you a good idea of how powerful the battery is, it's the charging time that matters.
When the UL certification came into effect, battery charging times reduced due to the improved battery construction.
What you need to do is, look for a hoverboard that doesn't require an overnight plug-in. 1-2 hours of charging time is good enough; however, some inexpensive models may take as high as 3-4 hours for charging the battery.
Weight-Bearing Capacity of the Board
Lastly, considering the weight-bearing capacity of your hoverboard is essential. It will give you a good indication if the board is designed with children riders in mind or if adults can enjoy the ride as well.
Usually, the weight-bearing capacity for a low priced hoverboard is around 220lbs. The Segway miniPro is an exceptional case with a remarkable load capacity of 420lbs.
Everything You Need to Know Before Buying a Cheap Hoverboard (FAQs)
Before I wind it up, I thought it would be great to address a few common questions most potential buyers have in mind. Ready, set, go!
What makes a hoverboard worth-purchasing?
Here comes a question that is frequently asked by almost every potential buyer.
Okay. Let me put it this way, do you enjoy riding a bike? How much does it cost you? It comes with a hefty price tag. Isn't that right?
A hoverboard provides you with similar experiences at a low cost. You can find a wide range of hoverboards under $1000. They're relatively inexpensive and still provide the fun and excitement of an electric bike.
Hoverboards are trending for obvious reasons, and guess what makes the trend safe? The UL rating!
In early 2016, UL introduced a rating system made explicitly for self-balance scooters. The concept behind the UL rating is simple. All the hoverboards, expensive models, or the cheap ones, need to be equally safe and secure against fires and explosions.
Hoverboards are safe, affordable, and beneficial for outdoor activities, which makes them worth purchasing.
Should I Buy a Cheap Hoverboard?
If you want me to answer it in one word, the answer is YES! The reason being, riding a hoverboard is a super fun experience, and I don't want you to miss it out.
If you've never ridden before, it's a great way to introduce yourself to it.
If you're budget-conscious, you can still enjoy the perks without breaking the bank.
If the hoverboard has a UL certificate, there's no excuse as to why you shouldn't trust it.
If you want something that offers good value to your money, a cheap hoverboard is a way to go.
Buying Hoverboards from Amazon
It may surprise you, but Amazon had once pulled all cheap hoverboards off their site due to safety concerns.
Don't be shocked, it was for a good reason, of course. You must have heard incidents about hoverboards exploding and catching fires.
The particular action by Amazon led to a massive decrease in the purchase of hoverboards. It also drastically affected the entire trend of riding a hoverboard, but everything changed in 2016.
The UL rating has significantly changed it all. All the hoverboards on Amazon now are certified by UL, so buying a hoverboard online, especially from Amazon, is completely safe.
If Amazon says it's okay, it is indeed okay. I know because I trust the website more than anything, and it provides me with an incredible experience every time.
Free Shipping Methods on Amazon
One of the reasons why I prefer Amazon over other similar platforms is because of its shipping methods. You may find an excellent price for a cheap hoverboard on eBay or elsewhere, but a huge shipping charge can quickly add up and tack on a huge cost.
Amazon is one platform that offers safe and free shipping for most of its products, but don't let the free shipping sway you off. Check out what the buyer is offering, the quality of the product, features it brings along, and warranty if it has any, then make an informed decision.
Rest assured, Amazon is a place that never disappoints. It's one thing that I can guarantee using my own experience. Good luck, my pals!

Blog Assignment
1.    Personal Reflection
 a)    What inspired you to write your chosen contemporary issue and why?
When I know about the assignment is about to find an event and point out the problem about the event, the first thing come to my mind was dragon boat. I feel more confident to do this topic compare with others as I was representing my company to be a paddler at last dragon boat festival. Thus, I believe there is nothing would be more relevant than a personal experience and also with the journal and all the reference I had research. It would be easier for me to complete this assignment.
 b)    What were your initial thinking of the contemporary issue and why?
Injury control improvement and crowed management are my initial thinking of the contemporary issues. These two things are collected as when I recall my memory of the dragon boat event in Stanley last year. There were some people with injury but they have to wait for a while instead of having an immediate first aid service from the organization but their explanation to the patient was too crowed that had increase the difficulties to come in and find the patient that had cause being late to provide first aid service. However, I was thinking something can do improve in this problem and this is how I use my first thought to do this topic on the assignment.
 c)     How did you start your research to explore your initial thinking?
I was struggling with which side I can go at first as I have two direction at my initial thinking on the assignment then I talk with my tutor during the consultation time and he patiently explain and analysis the details and my confusion. Then it came out the final decision of what to do as my topic in this assignment which is injury control improvement. And I simply type in this key word on internet and shop around as much journal as possible to see if which one could help me with the assignment. Therefore this is how I start to research and explore my initial thinking.
 d)    What difficulties you faced and how did you solve those problems during the process of information search?
To be frank, it was hard to do the research at the beginning as there is not much stuff are related with my topic till when I found out I put the wrong key words. After I fixed the problem of key words, there are amount of related journal had generate from the internet. Then I guess the second difficulty was I need to read through the journal one by one to see which part is helpful on my assignment. Time and physical condition would be a major concern as I am a part time student and have responsible a full time work. So I just reserve more time to do the assignment and give up most of the activity but only focus on reading the journal and make the assignment complete.
 e)    Did the information you search help to support your initial thinking and why?
I had spent so much time on shorting out the related information of my research so it is definitely help to support my initial thinking on this assignment. And throughout my reading time of those journals, I found there are something additional is helpful on my assignment too.
 f)      How did you come up with the conclusion and recommendation?
For sure it is help me a lot during the consultation time with my tutor as he had given so many suggestions on the topic and more importantly my direction will be clearer after talk with him. Plus I’ve mentioned in above question that I found something additional throughout my reading to those journals. That additional information makes my thinking to not just focus on one point which is the post injury control but the pre injuries control. And this discovered had helped me a lot with the recommendation and conclusion.
    g)    What did you learn from this active learning experience and why?
Throughout this active learning experience that makes me realize I am a person that cannot see through things immediately but need to have more research and consultation with some professional .And after this assignment, I’m not only learn to see things in different angle to make myself to see things in a whole picture but also improve the way I thinking with something.
 2.    Develop THREE topics form the topics presented by your classmates.
2.1.        How does Instagram affect charity fundraising events?
What is the important part in a daily life? Instead of food, water and air; I guess many people would say social media like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. People now a day seem using those tools to communicate and share our daily experience are more often than face to face talking and discussing an issue. Therefore social media has slowly becoming our main source to communicate and reach with outsides information; also I can say it becoming our part of living.
According to P.M. Leonardi, social media is defined as “Web-based platforms that allow workers to (1) communicate messages with specific coworkers or broadcast messages to everyone in the organization; (2) explicitly indicate or implicitly reveal particular coworkers as communication partners; (3) post, edit, and sort text and files linked to themselves or others; and (4) view the messages, connections, text, and files communicated, posted, edited and sorted by anyone else in the organization at any time of their choosing.”(2013).
Due to this point, there are many businesses, enterprise
from different industry are using these tools to promote their products and show the advertisement in order to increase people participation and awareness of the message they want to deliver. Therefore, social media is playing a very important role and have a power to influence others that business unit cannot be ignore.
Besides doing business with bringing profit to the company, some conscious company who had carry the social responsibility will promote and deliver a positive message on charity fundraising. “Fundraising events come in all shapes and sizes and are only bounded by the organizer’s imagination. One simple way to distinguish events is by type. Events can also be differentiated by what they are trying to achieve and the profile of guests the charity wants to attract”(Webber, 2003) However, social media would be a great tool to doing donation and also being a middle man to implement the process in terms of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of supporter and new supporters.
For identification, the organization are playing a main role to short out the people who successfully made through use of instagram or others social media to connect with the club member and people whose from all around the world and simply just knowing who will you ask and what will you going to ask. This stage is all about gathering and analyzing information. It is the underpinning of your fundraising activity. Cultivation had covers a range of activities visits and that is peer-to-peer networking and mainly about relationship building, engage the prospect in order to prepare the ask section. The strategies of Cultivation are based on the information that gathered from identification phase and it is refers to the methods that to build relationship with donor like
How to make contact?
Who will do cultivating?
How to achieved or sustained?
For solicitation is mainly focus on making the ask. There would be many way to achieve solicitation like peer asking, direct mail, telephone fundraising online communication. Those resources provide detailed information on methods of solicitation.
For Stewardship is evolving and maintaining a long term relationship with those donors .It is recognition and continuing to engage donors. We can also keep donors engaged in a donating cycle and encourage them toward repeat giving or giving in increasing amount in order to boosting the fundraising income and expand the overall pool of donors by investing wisely in stewardship activities.
To conclude, social media has become part of our life and this study found that social media can play a major part in charity fundraising event. Throughout those tools that had mentioned above are the effective way in fundraising event Making good use of social media in doing charity fundraising can generate more donations and more supporters.
2.2   How cycling venues impact the cycling tourism in Hong Kong?
Now a day, people out there always mentioned about environmental consciousness. The main things we should have done to having environmental consciousness is to reduce pollution like air pollution. We cannot control how the environment goes like but we can control ourselves to not pollute our living environment. For example we can walk more instead of driving or we can even do more cycling instead of taking the public transport .The both way can bring positive result to our body and the environment. Due to those reason had mentioned above; using bicycle are now becoming a global popular trends with increasing environmentalism, sustainable development and physical fitness. However, Hong Kong is a highly developed place with skyscrapers and excellent infrastructures. Plus due to the shortage of land that had cause the high land price policy in Hong Kong that it is not easy to upgrade the existing roads to providing additional cycle lane. Thus, the surrounding footpaths are congested and it is not easy to equip with cycle lane as well. Due to the limitation of our environment, How can we walk out a path to makes cycling become a common interest or sports to Hong Kong? This will going to discuss the solution of lack of cycling venue and how it will impact of the cycling tourism in Hong Kong.
To compare with other metropolis in the world, Hong Kong is populated with narrow roads and a very heavy traffic flow in the urbanized area, It seems everywhere in Hong Kong are congested that make people barely breathing. Not standing with the fact that Hong Kong is small and only with 1,108 square kilometers in the territory but there are about three-quarters of the land are designated as “country park”. Most of the country parks are located in the outlying islands and rural area. Therefore outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling are popular in Hong Kong.
And for those who love outdoor activities can change the location to not just staying in the city but would willing to go more on the outlying or rural area in order to explore more cycling locations to introduce to others and even increase the awareness of those location to attract some foreigner to visit.
2.3   The purpose of financial industry to sponsor sports event in Hong Kong?
Maybe you will aware the banners surrounding the court in the sport event are mostly from the financial industry. No matter in dragon boat, marathon, orienteering, football game, basketball game, cycling event or formula E .You can see the footprint of different financial industry logo print on the poster or on the souvenir. This has cause many people wonder why will they always be a sponsor on sports event. First of all, sponsoring something is the act of supporting an event, activity or an organization through financially or the provision of product or services. The individual or group that provides the support is known as sponsor.
Sponsorship is sort of cash or in-kind fee paid to a property (typically in sports, arts, entertainment) in access with the expectation of a commercial return. While sponsorship can deliver increased awareness, brand building, it is sponsorship advertising. Sponsorship advertising is a type of advertising where a company pays to be associated with a specific event. The idea is to get the name out and be viewed positively in participating of specific event. In fact, sponsorship advertising is very prevalent with charitable events, sporting event or other community events. Moreover, there are four criteria for a business to decide if they sponsor something. Relevance, Brand fit, Mission alignment and Business result .For relevance is about the event have something relevance to the services or products you provide and it mainly want to match with the sponsorship of events to those that involve the target market. For Brand Fit is simply about the brand must fit with the event, otherwise it will become no sense and even counter-productive. For mission alignment is shouldn’t have any conflict of the event or organization. For business result is clearly want a tangible business result such as increase company awareness and brand awareness.  3.    Implication for your future career and /or the industry as a whole.
 a)    Discuss the important aspects of event management in terms of planning, sales and marketing, operation, risk management etc.
To me every element had mentioned on above question are important into an event as it doesn’t call an event if it is lack of those elements. They are strongly attached with each other. However, if it is needed to choose one of the most important element; I believe planning would be the most important aspects of event management instead of others element had mention in the question. As planning is the core stuff for a whole event. Without planning the other wouldn’t have exist. Planning is about from how you generate an idea to how to implement the plan out as a solid thing and what else is needed or required to include in the plan. Therefore, it always have people say good planning are means to everything as once you got the good planning you know where to go and what to do in next step to make things happen and become visible and possible.
 b)    Discuss how the event industry could grow in future in terms of government policy, Infrastructure support, environment sustainability etc.?
I believe event industry could grow in future with the complete set of those element had mentioned above like government policy, infrastructure support and environment sustainability. And below will going to discuss on each element with how they help event industry to growth. Firstly, government policy are playing a very important role in the growth in event industry as government are always a leader of everthing. They set up the regulation and restriction for balancing the whole sociality. Government have international prestige that makes the event that they are supporting will have a social cohesion.
For infrastructure support is refer to the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities such as buildings, roads, and power supplies. So it simply calls the need for the operation of a society or enterprise. The most fundamental stuff would be the things that people will easy to miss out. However they do playing a main role. For buildings part we can be more focus on sales and marketing that to project the advertisement on the building to attract as much walk pass people as possible to know about the event and more importantly to increase community participation. For roads we can construct a better road for the convenience for the candidate or traveler to make them have a good impression on the city. Last but not least, environment sustainability is about the environment we are living in. It is about social and cultural stuff. A city can do an event
which expanding cultural perspectives through share experience on the TV show or the advertisement of the event. A revitalization of traditions like Bun festival in Cheung Chau.Overall, those elements is mainly increase the awareness to the community participation and more importantly the package of the city are the essential things to attract more people to join the event in order to make the event industry growth.
  c)     With the Learning from the class and your own research, what attitude, skills, and knowledge are required for a successful career in the event industry?
From the learning through the class and the research I had do; I found that event industry is very all rounded. I guess to have a successful career in the event industry should really have a mind of attention to details as there are lots of stuff to plan and considerate in an event. Moreover, a person who could with a can do attitude and different perspective or different angle of point of view would have a successful career in the event industry.
