#I am pretty certain I am forgetting things - I made this post on Nov 1st in a sleepy rush and it has been sitting in my drafts ever since

Captain Flint (Black Sails) and Adar (The Rings of Power)
Just a small list of comparisons I personally could see between the characters. Possibly very subjective!
(Possible spoilers, though I'll try to keep them minimal by being vague as much as I can!)
neither goes by the name they were given at birth
made into a monster through factors and circumstances that are (partially) out of their control
appear like a cruel tyrant at first glance but the more layers are pulled back the more it becomes clear that they are also a victim and that they struggle with who they have become
their plans are geared towards protecting and saving their peers, but they are willing to make huge sacrifices (even out of their peers) to achieve this goal*
originally come from a society that now only feels disgust and horror towards them and punishes them for their mere existance (as well as their crimes, but those came later)
live in a society/huge group of outcasts that are not accepted anywhere else but amongst each other and who have to fight to have a place of their own
betrayed by one of their closest, most trusted allies and in a crucial moment in their character arc/story (and their arc concludes because of that)
they just want a place of their own to call home and finally *rest*
(are queer or at the very least allow for a queer reading)
*of course Adar's and Flint's actual, individual motivations in that regard are quite different when you further dig into them
