Did somebody say Breakfast In Bed? Blaine may love making breakfast for Kurt, but on their anniversary I think they both deserve to have someone else take care of the cooking. Don't you agree, @nancysgillians?

Butterflies

[Harvey Specter x Female!Reader]
Synopsis: You know you’re screwed when you feel them fluttering in your chest {GIF Creds: jeysuso}.
WC: 717
Category: Fluff
For all my Harvey lovers out there, I made a cute fluffy quickie (I’m seeing a lot of my fics being swarmed with love so why not add to it 🤗)
『••✎••』
It happened over a bottle of bourbon. A spilled bottle, actually. But a bottle of bourbon nonetheless, and that is important to note.
You didn’t mean to spill the alcohol all over your date, but he had made some comment about how you shouldn't be wearing a dress with a plunging neckline, so you just… happened to tip the entire thing over him.
The man was furious, of course, but he left pretty quickly after that. And you were left with a mess on the floor and a waiter hovering at the side, asking if you wanted another bottle.
You told him no. You just wanted to go home.
You didn't want a new date; you didn't want to sit at this stupid table with the stupid white tablecloth, the stupid, gaudy candlesticks, or the stupid waiter with the stupid, expectant look on his face.
"Miss?"
"No, thank you," you say, a little more firmly, gathering up your things and leaving as much cash as you can on the table. If you were smart, you'd have brought an umbrella, but you're not smart, so you'll just get drenched like an idiot.
But, fortunately for you, the person calling your name knew you well enough to know you weren’t that smart.
Before a drop of water could even hit your hair, a tall, dark figure steps out in front of you and blocks the downpour. Some might consider this a gentlemanly action, but you knew the man, and he was hardly ever gentle.
"You're welcome," Harvey says, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"You're a pain," you reply, but you're grateful for the cover.
"And you're dateless. So, I see two options: we can have dinner and a drink back at my place, or we can do dinner and a drink back at mine."
You can't help but laugh. "Did you use this on Scottie? I see why she left. That line was bad."
"You're not going to ask how I knew you were here?"
"Nope. You probably had Louis stalk me."
"Don't talk about the puppy like that."
"So you did have him stalk me!"
"I prefer the term 'make sure you were alright,'" Harvey replies, and he holds out his arm to you. "Guy was a douche. Let me buy you dessert to make up for it. And I don’t mean in the biblical sense, although that can be arranged, too, if you'd like."
"Harvey, you’re such—"
You turned to him, ready to tell him exactly what you thought of him, but the words died when you met his eyes. Those same eyes that allured you into taking his offer at Pearson Hardman. The same eyes that made you agree to work with him on the case despite your better judgment.
In a flash, you saw the whole thing: your first meeting, the cases, the laughs, the looks, the touches. And now, the moment.
When you were younger, the term butterflies had never really made sense to you. The idea of feeling them in your stomach seemed ridiculous, and yet, there you were, feeling them for the very first time.
They were all fluttering around inside of you, and all you could think was, "Oh, no."
And as if the universe had heard you, it suddenly stopped raining, and you both stood there in the middle of the street, the moon casting a warm light on your faces.
Harvey noticed it, too, and his expression softened. His usual cockiness was replaced with a gentle concern. "You okay?"
You nodded, biting your lip. "Yeah."
Harvey reached up and brushed a strand of hair away from your face, his hand lingering a moment longer than it needed to. He gave you that signature grin and asked, "You look like a velvet cake kind of girl. Am I right?"
He was right.
Goddamnit, he was right.
And as he swaddled you in his coat to keep you warm as you both went back inside, the anger and confusion you felt earlier melted into a quiet, warm glow.
Date night had not gone according to plan, but when his lips met yours and your hands slid through his soft, brown hair, you realized that, perhaps, sometimes, it was good to deviate from the plan.
The butterflies seemed to agree.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRING: younger! tutee! kim woonhak x two years older! tutor! fem! reader
SUMMARY: Woonhak has a cute crush on his two years older tutor, Y/n.
GENRE: fluff, crush, imagine
WORDCOUNT: 1.4k
A/N: just a cute short imagine about woonhak having a crush on someone who is older -- i’m still on campus and i really want to go home ( ̄^ ̄) i am writing notes but at the same time thinking about story ideas so at one point i wrote down my story idea into my notes 🧍🏻‍♀️welp, enjoy!
Tumblr media
✩°。⋆⸜ 🎧✮
Laughter echoed around the small dorm room as Leehan and the rest of the group were in the middle of a chaotic video game session. The air was light, filled with jokes and playful banter, but Woonhak barely noticed any of it.
He was sitting on the couch, controller in hand, staring blankly at the screen. His thoughts, however, were nowhere near the game. They were on her—Y/n, his tutor, and Leehan’s friend. His mind kept replaying little moments with her: the way her lips quirked up when she caught him making a mistake during their study sessions, the way she tucked her hair behind her ear when she was concentrating.
"Why do I keep thinking about her?" he wondered, frustrated at how easily she occupied his thoughts. "She’s two years older... She probably doesn’t even think of me that way."
“Yo, Woonbaby!” Jaehyun called out, waving a hand in front of his face. “You alive over there?”
He blinked, startled, and realized all five of his friends were now staring at him. He hadn't said a word in the last ten minutes, and clearly, they’d noticed.
“Seriously, man,” Riwoo laughed, “you’ve been completely zoned out. What’s up?”
“Did you even hear anything we said?” Leehan added, raising an eyebrow as he smirked.
The tips of Woonhak's ears turned red. He shifted uncomfortably, trying to shrug off the attention. “I—I’m fine. Just... thinking about stuff.”
“Ohhh, thinking about stuff?” Taesan said with a teasing grin. “Does this stuff happen to be a girl?”
The room immediately erupted in laughter and catcalls. Woonhak's face heated up even more as he tried to wave them off, but his friends weren’t having it.
“Look at him! His ears are red!” Riwoo pointed out, leaning forward with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Come on, dude, who is it?”
“Yeah, spill it,” Taesan chimed in. “You got a crush or something?”
“No, I don’t!” Woonhak blurted, his voice a bit higher than usual. He knew denying it only made them more suspicious, but he couldn’t help it. His flustered reaction only fueled their teasing.
Leehan leaned back, smirking knowingly. “You know, Y/n mentioned something the other day. She said you’ve been spacing out a lot during your tutoring sessions.”
At the mention of her name, Woonhak stiffened. “She—she said that?” he stammered, his heart racing.
“Oh yeah,” Leehan continued, clearly enjoying the situation. “She said she’ll ask you a question and you’ll just sit there, staring at your notes like you’ve never seen them before.”
His friends burst into laughter again, and Woonhak wanted to sink into the couch and disappear. He could feel his face burning as he tried to play it cool. “That’s—she’s exaggerating...”
Jaehyun wasn’t letting it go, though. “Yeah? Then why’re you turning red just hearing her name?”
Before he could stop himself, Woonhak blurted out, “Did she say anything else about me?”
That made the room go silent for a split second, and then all hell broke loose.
“Aha! So there is someone!” Sungho shouted triumphantly, slapping Jaehyun on the back. “I knew it!”
Leehan grinned, crossing his arms as he gave Woonhak a teasing look. “So you’re interested in what she thinks, huh?”
“I’m not—I mean—” Woonhak sputtered, feeling more flustered by the second. His mind was racing with possibilities, wondering if Y/n had noticed him the way he’d started to notice her. He thought about the way she’d laugh softly when she caught him spacing out during their tutoring sessions, how she’d patiently explain things again even though she must have been annoyed.
“Dude, you’re so obvious,” Riwoo teased. “You’ve got it bad for her, huh?”
Woonhak threw his hands up in defeat. “Okay, fine, whatever. Yes, maybe I’ve been... thinking about her. A little.”
The room exploded into cheers and shouts of “I knew it!” and “Finally!” Woonhak sighed, knowing he wasn’t going to live this down anytime soon.
But underneath all the teasing, a small part of him wondered—What did she think of him?
✩°。⋆⸜ 🎧✮
The library was quiet, save for the occasional rustling of pages and the distant hum of air conditioning. Woonhak sat across from Y/n, his books spread out in front of him, but his attention was far from the math problem she was explaining. Instead, his gaze kept drifting back to her—how her lips moved as she spoke, the way her hair fell over her shoulder, and how effortlessly confident she always seemed.
“Are you even listening?” Y/n asked, her voice cutting through his thoughts.
Woonhak blinked, realizing he hadn’t heard a word. She was now waving a hand in front of his face, her brows furrowed in slight concern.
“Uh, yeah—sorry,” he stammered, sitting up straighter and pretending to refocus on his notes. “I’m listening.”
She wasn’t convinced. Leaning back in her chair, Y/n crossed her arms and gave him a knowing look. “You’ve been spacing out a lot today. What’s on your mind?”
His heart raced at her question. What’s on my mind? You. Always you. But there was no way he was going to admit that. Instead, he quickly waved it off, trying to sound casual. “It’s nothing, just... tired, I guess.”
“Uh-huh,” she said, clearly not buying it but deciding to drop the subject. “Alright, fine. Let’s move on to the next topic.”
As she began flipping through her textbook, Woonhak felt a surge of boldness. His mind raced with possibilities. Maybe now was the time. They were alone—or at least he thought they were. Taking a deep breath, he decided to go for it.
“Hey,” he started, his voice a bit too casual, “just out of curiosity... what do you think about younger guys?”
Y/n paused, her pen hovering over the page. Slowly, she looked up, her eyes narrowing in amusement as she caught on to his line of questioning. “Younger guys?” she repeated, a teasing smile forming on her lips.
He nodded, trying to appear nonchalant, though his heart was pounding. “Yeah, like... would you ever date someone younger?”
Her smile widened, clearly enjoying his attempt at subtlety. “Hmm,” she said, tapping her chin as though giving it serious thought. “I don’t mind younger guys—younger guys who can pass their exams, that is.”
Woonhak felt a spark of hope. His confidence surged, and before he could think twice, the words were out of his mouth. “Okay, so... if I ace my next exam, will you go on a date with me?”
The question hung in the air between them, and for a moment, time seemed to slow. Y/n blinked in surprise, and then, to his relief, she giggled softly, shaking her head.
“You’re cute,” she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Alright, Woonhak. You ace your exam, and I’ll go on a date with you.”
His heart leaped. He couldn’t believe it. A date. With her. He tried to play it cool, but his grin betrayed him. “Deal. I’ll study harder than ever.”
Just as he was about to bask in his newfound confidence, a chorus of whispers and stifled laughter erupted from behind a nearby shelf. Before he could react, five familiar faces popped out from behind the bookshelves—his group of friends, who had clearly been eavesdropping the entire time.
“Whoa, Woonbaby! I didn’t know you had it in you!” Jaehyun teased, clapping him on the back.
“Did you really just ask her out right here in the library?” Taesan added, grinning from ear to ear.
Woonhak's face turned bright red as his friends swarmed around the table, throwing in playful jabs and comments. “Shut up, guys!” he hissed, trying to wave them away. “Go away, you weren’t supposed to hear that!”
But they weren’t about to let it go. “Woonhakie's got a date! He’s in love!” Riwoo sang in a mocking tone, while Sungho pretended to swoon dramatically.
Meanwhile, Y/n watched the scene unfold with an amused expression, trying—and failing—to hide her laughter. She looked at Woonhak with a teasing smile, her eyes dancing with amusement. “Looks like you’ve got a fan club.”
Mortified, Woonhak buried his face in his hands. “I can’t believe this...”
Leehan leaned in, smirking. “You’re really going to have to ace that exam now, Woonhakie. No pressure.”
Still blushing, Woonhak groaned. “Can you guys just leave?”
His friends finally relented, walking away while still snickering among themselves. Woonhak let out a sigh of relief, but the embarrassment still burned on his face.
Y/n, clearly entertained by the whole situation, leaned forward and gave him an encouraging smile. “You’ll be fine. Just focus on passing, okay?”
He nodded, still flustered but more determined than ever. “Yeah... I’ll do my best.”
And as they returned to studying, Woonhak couldn’t help but feel that, despite his friends’ teasing, the day had turned out pretty well.

the world is ending (but i'm happy you're here with me)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: lee minho x f!reader genre: established relationship, fluff, hurt/comfort warnings: one (1) swear, mc is mentioned to have longer hair at one point, slightly unedited, lowercase intended word count: 1.07k note: i had a lot of fun writing this, so i hope you enjoy it too ♡
there comes a time in every girl’s life where the overwhelming urge to change her physical appearance eclipses all sensible and rational thought. as it turns out, you’re no exception.
“you’re going to laugh.”
“no i’m not.”
“you already are,” you deadpan, frowning at minho’s pitiful attempts to repress the growing smile quirking at his lips. your boyfriend has the audacity to chuckle at your words, pushing himself off the couch and gliding towards your stiff figure standing at the entrance of the living room.
“you can’t blame me, you look so cute and adorable right now,” he defends. an arm snakes around your shoulders and you relax slightly at his touch, wrapping your arms around his middle. “besides, it can’t be that bad—at least, not enough for you to have to hide from me.”
minho pulls you further into the warmth of his chest, the tender embrace sending a small shiver down your spine. his lips meet the side of your hooded head in a firm kiss, the extra pressure ensuring you would feel the loving gesture. the usual trail of kisses towards your forehead and cheeks is blocked, currently concealed by your (his) hoodie’s drawstrings working overtime to reveal only a small oval of skin.
the hood’s bunched fabric frames the top of your eyes and lips. you can barely see in front of you until one of minho’s fingers slips into the opening to try and take a peek at what’s covered inside.
minho is being nice; you look ridiculous.
and it’s your fault really. you should have known you couldn't escape your misfortunes that easily.
work for the past month has been hell: the road-closure of the usual route you’d take, tacking on an additional fifteen minutes to your commute. the early mornings you have to endure to clock-in on time. the “important” group project your boss delegated around the office. the unpaid overtime for said project. the same petty, passive-aggressive coworkers breathing down your neck and critiquing your every move because you made a mistake once—all casting insurmountable pressure on your already exhausted state.
you finally snapped when someone callously stole the lunch minho had prepared for you from the breakroom’s fridge.
you suppose now it was your brain’s attempt to regain some sort of control over the strenuous situation, but the impulse to cut your hair, try a new style, start fresh with your appearance bombarded every thought on the journey home. call it an impulsive thought, an intrusive thought, whatever—you needed to do something.
too bad the hair stylist couldn’t follow directions for shit.
“minho, i’m serious,” you whine, burying your face further into his chest. suffocating in the arms of the man you love doesn’t sound like such a bad idea right now. “she ruined my hair. how am i supposed to go out in public like this?”
“i can’t tell you if you haven’t even shown me yet. i’m sure it’s not as bad as you think,” he muses, chuckling at the vibrations tickling his torso from the muffled groan you release.
minho starts to sway the two of you back and forth at your silence. the rhythmic movement cradles you in a comforting hold, temporarily soothing your spiraling thoughts. he’s right; you’re going to have to show him at some point. might as well just get it over with now.
a defeated sigh escapes you. well, here goes nothing.
you step out of minho’s arms and pry the hood off to reveal your botched hair in all its glory.
uneven bangs, a completely different color than from when you left for work this morning, fall into your face and cover the top of your eyes. you can’t see yourself but judging from minho’s small hiss and surprised, contorted face, it’s not pretty.
and it’s not like you asked for anything outlandish: a standard cut and a new style of bangs was your definition of revamping your appearance. so when the stylist cut off a majority of your hair, it took everything within you to not immediately burst into tears as the salon’s floor and your lap splayed the once lengthy remains.
you don’t even know where she got the idea of bleaching your hair. now your wallet and soul are emptier than ever and there is nothing you can do except hope minho doesn’t ask you to turn around because the layers are downright atrocious.
“so? what do you think?” a wobbly smile makes its way onto your face. “not what you were expecting, right?”
you can’t help the tears welling into your eyes at his silence. he’s just…staring. certainly this can’t be the dealbreaker, right?
 …right?
you’re saved from your inner turmoil when minho moves forward to carefully bring you back into his arms. the tears finally spill down your cheeks and onto his shirt, the comforting scent of minho flooding your senses once again. if you could hide here forever, you would.
“it’ll grow back.”
“i know.”
“you still look sexy.” he pinches your side, coaxing a watery laugh from you. his smile is infectious, and you can’t help but tearfully look up at him with one of your own.
you playfully guide one of his hands towards the back of your damaged hair, leaving it there. “so you’re not breaking up with me over this?” you tease, resting your head back against his chest. you don’t notice the subtle shift in your boyfriend’s gaze until he softly calls your name.
“i would love you even if you were bald,” he confesses quietly, squeezing you tighter to him.
you can’t help but snort into his chest. “yeah?”
“yeah. i will love you now until it’s long again. i will love you with any hair cut, color, style, anything. even if you hate it or one day regret it, my love for you won’t change,” minho assures, his sincerity echoing in his words.
“so if i dyed my hair pink tomorrow, you’d be okay with it?”
“do what you want, whenever you want.”
because it doesn’t matter to him what you do with your hair. you’re still you, his beautiful and resilient (and sexy) girlfriend. even as his hands run through the chopped, disproportionate strands on the back of your head, he finds you more and more enchanting with each passing day.
“i will be here for you. always.”

I saw the anon who asked for the Nico x reader and it gave my silly wlw brain an idea. Can I please request Clarisse x daughter of Hestia reader? Thank you!
Clarisse with a daughter of Hestia! S/O
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
note -> I LOVE CLARISSE SO MUCH AHHHHH!!!
warnings -> none.
content includes -> fluff, teasing, protective! Clarisse, more i am too lazy to add.
Tumblr media
While Clarisse is fiercely headstrong, you balance her with calm and nurturing. While Clarisse would probably be the first to dive into a fight, you, the daughter of Hestia, are more often the one to comfort her with gentle words and warm cuddles that soothe, especially after a talk with her father.
Clarisse can't help but tease yoz a little now and then, often referring to you as "Hearth Girl" or "Little Flame" with a smirk on her face. There's always something in her eyes, though, always softer when she looks at you, and you know it's Clarisse's way of being sweet.
Clarisse is fiercely protective of you, especially since she views you as a soothing balm in her otherwise crazy world. She's always watching out for you at Camp Half-Blood, and anyone who gets in your way has to answer to Clarisse. You usually find it cute, even if you are more than capable of taking care of yourself.
You, as the daughter of Hestia, have a knack for home in a place, no matter where it is, and that is something Clarisse truly appreciates, though she may rarely say it out loud. She likes going back home to the snugly fit places her other half creates for her, be it a well-lit cabin or even an area at the campsite with a warm blanket ready.
Clarisse doesn’t open up nor does she show people her softer side, you are the only person who has ever seen her soft side. Often enough, she just places her head on your shoulder, allowing herself to be vulnerable in the safety of sour warmth. And you know such moments are few and fond.
People will often find you encouraging her, either with a pep talk before some big training or quietly tending to her injuries after battles. You know how to be supportive without making her feel weak, which Clarisse respects a lot.
You love showing your love in small acts, like setting aside some dessert and saving it for Clarisse, patching her armor with much care, or leaving little notes of encouragement for her. At first, Clarisse acts as though this means nothing; but you know she saves each note somewhere safe.
Although she tries to behave as if it does not matter, deep inside, Clarisse likes being domestic in your relationship. She found some sense of comfort in watching you tend to the hearth or make tea, being glad to sit nearby, pretending she wasn't just enjoying the warmth and comfort of your presence.
Many nights the two sit at the warmly burning campfire and talk deep into the night. Clarisse is not the talkative sort, but her words come with much more ease when around her are the sounds of crickets and your gentle humming, keeping her warm. She finds comfort in it.
Although Clarisse is not particularly good at revealing her feelings, she learns from you. She tries to return the favor by rearing to cook or making a little picnic around the campfire. Sometimes it may not be perfect, but you always appreciate that and reassure her that the thought counts.

Sharing a bed
The best way to end a friendship?
Lorenzo Berkshire imagine
You invited yourself to sleep in Enzo’s bed, unaware of his feelings for you. The next morning everything becomes clear.
Warning: fluff and a bit of smut
A/N: I thought this was cute. Hope you like it my dear tumblr people. And per usual, feedback is appreciated!
I added part 2: read it here
Tumblr media
The party is over and your friends head up to their dorm. When you see Pansy leave together with the guys for a little after party, you get slightly jealous. Why does she still get to hang out with them while I have to be on my own?
You grab Lorenzo’s hand and walk with him in the direction of his dorm. “I’m coming with.” You say with determination and your best friend raises an eyebrow. “Pansy gets to come.” You explain and he smiles. “Yeah, but Pansy sleeps with Blaise. Where would you sleep?”
Your slightly drunk mind thinks it over. “With you of course.” Enzo feels his whole body heat up at the idea of being in the same bed as you. “Uhm, I-uh I-don’t-“ Mattheo interrupts Enzo’s stammers. “Yeah, Enzo, why don’t you let her stay in your bed? Nothing wrong with being cuddled up with a pretty girl. She’s your best friend, you’ll behave right…” There’s an obvious grin on Mattheo’s face that worries you a bit, but you chose to ignore it. “So?” You urge as you take a step towards Enzo.
“Sure.” He says with a weak voice. Great, most beautiful girl at Hogwarts in my bed, but no touching. I’m gonna need to put a pillow between us.
***
Falling asleep was easy since the after party you guys had, was exhausting to say the least. The next morning you find yourself in Enzo’s bed, wearing one of his shirts and trying to clear up your hazy memory. A vague recollection of Pansy telling you that Enzo had a crazy crush on you fills your head. Followed by a memory of drunk Blaise whispering about how Enzo hated the idea of having to sleep with you and not getting to ‘sleep’ with you. Blaise’s unsubtle winking makes you smile as you remember last night's conversation.
“Enz, you up?” You ask when he moves a little. A soft murmur is the only answer you get since he’s still stuck in the world between awake and vast asleep.
You chuckle and roll closer to Enzo, who’s starting to panic. No, not too close. Too late, you’ve already snuggled up to your best friend, embracing his warmth. Maybe she won’t notice. “Oh, you’re definitely up, Enzo.” You softly wiggle your thighs against his morning wood. She noticed! Enzo’s face heats up and his eyes fling open to find yours are still shut as you’re innocently snuggled against him.
Lorenzo’s eyes scan the room and he’s relieved to see that all his roommates have already left for breakfast. “Just-um-ignore it.” Enzo finally manages to say before taking a deep breath to relax himself. You try to suppress the cheeky smile tugging on your lips. “It’s hard to ignore Enzo.” You tease as you rub yourself against his hard member and entangle your body with his, leaving no space between you two.
You open your eyes to see a very flustered Lorenzo, who quickly looks away. “Don’t play with me.” Enzo breathes out, you smile and nudge your nose against his cheek demanding that he looks at you. Hesitantly his puppy eyes meet yours and you brush lips over his in an effort to make him relax. Your hand moves over his chest while you whisper. “Am I really not allowed to play with-“ An unexpected moan leaves Lorenzo’s lips as you palm his hard one, feeling it twitch in his boxers. You can’t help but bite your lip as his soft eyes fill with hunger for you.
Your lips are met with a needy kiss as Enzo pushes himself against you, finally giving in to his desire for you, his best friend. “Play with me, I beg you, play with me like I’m a toy.” His husky and desperate voice does a number on your brain and body. You slip your hand in his boxers and grab his dick, while you kiss him with a similar hunger.

“Oh my God, Adam! I can’t believe that even when you’re not supposed to do something you get it wrong!” Kim yelled at her boyfriend.
“What the hell-” He even tried to respond but got immediately interrupted for his bad language.
“Adam!” She hissed again, not believing how he could still curse so much now that the two of them had a child in the house.
“Sorry, sorry!” He said, nervously raising his hands, as Kim already peeked through the kitchen doors to see Jay and Makayla pretend like they hadn’t been listening to every word of their conversation in the living room. “It’s just… I remember you specifically telling me to find someone to babysit the kid, so I did it! How is it possible that I’m the one who-”
“Yes! I did ask you two to do that! On Monday! And do you remember what you told me?” He didn’t dare to say anything. “Oh, no? Because I do! I remember you saying, and I quote:” she said, even making finger quotes to emphasize the whole thing, “‘Where the hell am I supposed to find a babysitter for Makayla? None of my friends have any experience with kids!’” Kim shoved it in his face, making a very good point for herself. But, as usual, Adam decided to go against any sign of good judgment and continue to defend himself. He knew he could never let Kim in on it, but Jay himself was one of those who had already heard the officer saying how much he loved bickering with his girlfriend and getting her all fired up against him.
“No, uh! That won’t cut it! You told me, and I quote: ‘Then hire someone! I don’t know! But you’re the one who came up with the date night idea, so don’t come and throw something that should be your responsibility on my shoulders!’, so I knew that I needed to find someone! Kev and Vanessa are visiting his siblings this weekend, so I thought: why not Jay? He’s good with kids, and he offered to help us with Makayla!” Adam concluded, absolutely proud of himself while Kim just rolled her eyes.
“Oh. My. God!!! You do know he didn’t mean that literally, don’t you?” She was already fuming by that point.
“Err-” He had to admit that he’d never stopped to think about that possibility…
“No one means that literally!!” She shouted, this time, making even the neighbors hear their arguing. “No one means that literally, and, now, you’re just making us both look like the cops who can’t take care of their own kid in front of the entire unit.” She stated, in a lower, tone while pinching the bridge of her nose.
“But this is not the entire unit! This is Jay! Our friend Jay, who had offered!” Adam stood by that argument and Kim had already opened her mouth to shoot a remark back when Jay came into the kitchen.
“Makayla’s distracted with the tv.” He started with that so that they wouldn’t be worried. “Uh... Guys, Kim, you don’t have to worry about me telling anyone about this, okay? I won’t. Besides, I did mean what I said before. I’m here to help. Whatever you guys need. Plus, for someone who had plans of watching a game rerun alone at home on a Friday night, babysitting that cute little girl is almost like hitting a jackpot!” Jay assured, giving them a small smile and shiny eyes headed towards Makayla’s direction. Babysitting a kid, when he was probably never gonna have one of his own, was one of the things that he, personally, missed the most about when Will and Natalie were together. Back when Lindsay lived in Chicago, he used to be sure that, someday, he was gonna find someone. Settle down. Build a family. But, now… After everything that had happened, he couldn’t help but feel like his time to do all that had run out. So, instead of mooning over it, he could gladly babysit Makayla.
“Well, um, thank you, Jay,” Kim started, nervously tucking a string of hair behind her ear, “that’s really nice to hear. And we very much appreciate it. But-” She didn’t get a chance to finish as the doorbell rang and Adam rushed towards the apartment’s entrance to prevent his very excited little girl from opening the door by herself. When he got there, followed by the other two adults, Makayla was already standing on her tiptoes, hand-in-handle.
“Hey! Watcha doing, you little adventurous?!” Adam asked while picking her up from the floor and tickling her sides, which made her become a giggling mess. “You can’t just open the door like that, darlin’! You gotta check on the peephole first,” he said, as he lifted her up enough so that she could look through the hole, “like this. See someone?”
“Yes! It’s (y/n/n)!” She squealed out. “Can we open the door now? Please, Adam?” Makayla asked, shooting him pleading eyes, while her body buzzed with happiness.
“Ah, (y/n/n), right,” Adam said simply, opening the door and fearing that Kim would want to restart the whole discussion with him.
“Hey, princess!” And that simple greeting was all it took for Makayla to throw herself from Adam’s arms straight to yours. “Wow,” you laughed at her sudden movement, which had caused you to lose your balance a little, “you excited to see me?”
“Yes!! Did you bring the bakings???” She asked you eagerly, bakings being what she called your cooking utensils.
“No, not today!” Your answer made her face, almost immediately, turn into a sad frown. “But I brought this!” You told her while lifting up a box that read ‘karaoke set’, above a few drawings of a microphone and musical notes. Seeing that, Makayla’s saddened expression shifted in two seconds, eyes lighting up.
“Look, Kim!” The little girl shrieked, more than ready to have what she already knew was about to be the time of her life.
“Yeah, I see that! Seems like you girls are gonna have a blast…” Your friend weirdly trailed off, as her mind tried to find a quick solution to the mess her boyfriend had made.
“Uh…” Was all that a very handsome man you hadn’t met yet managed to let out.
“Jay, um, this is my best friend (y/n). (y/n/n), this is our friend from work Jay. I’m sorry about the mess, guys, it’s Adam’s fault.” Kim spoke again, bluntly accusing her boyfriend.
“My fault??? Are you kidding??? You told me to find someone to watch Makayla 'cause you didn’t want us to keep bothering (y/n)!”
“Guys! It’s no bother at all, really. Hanging out with this little princess is in my best interest, believe me!” You said, quickly defending your case.
“Well, thanks for saying that, (y/n/n). What happened here is that Adam told me he wouldn’t be able to get anyone,” Kim started while shooting daggers into her boyfriend with her bare eyes. “So, since I wasn’t about to just wait for a miracle, I called and asked you to do it. But someone didn’t think about telling me that he had already gotten Jay to come. And now you’re both here, ugh!” She finished, rather dramatically, while pointing a finger at Adam.
That was, seriously, the best couple you knew when it came to bickering.
“Okay, so, um, it’s not gonna be any trouble. I can leave since your colleague got here first and you don’t need to be stressed on your date night, friend.” You tried to bring things to a peaceful ending before Kim turned it into a murder scene.
“Oh, I do need to be stressed! I need to-” She started to debate but got cut off by Makayla’s cute pleading voice:
“But you can’t leave, (y/n/n)! We’re gonna play karaoke!” The little girl clearly had already gotten worked up by your idea for the night.
“Makayla, baby, please don’t be difficult. You hang out with (y/n/n) all the time, and uncle Jay is already here…” You watched as Adam tried to reason with his daughter while she held you really tight.
“No, uh…” Their friend started to say. Was it too weird for you to be thinking about how incredibly cute he looked when scratching the back of his neck like that? “Relax, man, I can go. I bet that you’re gonna have a lot more fun with her than with me, anyways, Mak.” He completed, talking to your little friend with a sweet smile, to which she reacted with a confused frown.
“But- but why does Jay have to leave? Can’t he play karaoke with us, (y/n/n)?” Makayla asked you poutingly.
“Now that’s something I’d like to see!” Adam started to mock but stopped when Kim punched him in the arm. “Ouch! That hurt, you know?”
“I know! That was exactly the result I was hoping for!” She squealed out sarcastically, “Makayla, honey, you can’t just ask both (y/n/n) and Jay to play karaoke, of all things, with you.” It was lovely to watch Kim interacting so patiently with her kid but the young girl still didn’t seem to understand.
“But why???”
“Well, they don’t know each other, Makayla.” Kim tried again but Mak still wasn’t ready to give it up.
“But they know me!”
“Good luck explaining now, ma.” As soon as the words came out of his mouth, all of you 𑁋 Adam himself included 𑁋 knew what was coming, fortunately, Kim just punched him in the arm again.
“You know, guys, you don’t need to fight over something like this, okay? Uh… Since he’s your coworker, I’m gonna assume that he’s one of the good guys, therefore I wouldn’t really have a problem with hanging out with him…” You said because you were never one to say no to little kids. “I mean if that’s okay with you, too, officer…”
“It’s detective, actually. But you can call me Jay, uh, (y/n), right?”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
“Well, I don’t have any problems with hanging out with you either,” Jay said and, Jesus, was that really his smile? “I mean, Mak should get all the babysitters she wants!” He told her with a wink. It was official. You were so done for the night.
“Ha!” Kim nervously let out a laugh, “let’s go easy there, cowboy! You can’t just come into my house offering the kid everything she wants.”
“Okay, okay,” the detective started to say with a gesture of surrender while the couple started to get out of the house to give you the space to properly go in. “Sorry ‘bout that, ma!” You could have sworn that you saw him tremble 𑁋 just a little 𑁋 under the deadly gaze your friend sent his way. Adam, who seemed to be off the hook for the first time that night, took the moment to laugh and hope that his girl would forget she had been so mad at him.
“C’mon, darling. Let’s get going before we decide it isn’t very safe to leave Mak with those two.”
"Yeah… I'm already deciding that but maybe they'll prove us wrong." Kim said, voice absolutely faithless. "You behave, Makayla!"
"It's more than obvious that she's going to be the best tonight. Get outta here already!" You heard Jay yelling a little in response to her, as you and Makayla started to get the karaoke set up.
But you, being the lucky person you were, obviously couldn't find your way around your friend's old stuff.
"Uh, you need any help there?"
“No! No, not all! Um, I got this!” You quickly responded because you could be pretty skeptical when it came to admitting your weaknesses and, from your point of view, not getting a simple karaoke set to work was a huge one.
“Alright, then…”
“Are you sure you don’t want Jay to help, (y/n/n)?” Mak asked, sounding way more reasonable than you, the actual adult there.
“Um, err, I guess maybe I could use some help… It’s just that this TV setup is quite different from mine…” You said, still unwilling to let how confused you were really show.
“Yeah, I can help!” you heard Jay as he left his spot in the corner of the room. “I was just ordering us pizza but I can totally help out 'cause Adam and I actually shopped for these TVs together, so I have the same one!” He said, this time, already gently getting the device from your hands before you could even react, which was probably him sensing that you wouldn’t give it up so easily, like he could see right through you.
“Okay, well, since you already ordered the pizza, I’ll go make us some juice.” As you said that you got both of your companions making weird faces at you, so you amended: “Or not, because you already ordered soda too… Just keep in mind that if Kim gets mad because of all the junk food that kid is eating, I’m telling on you, detective!” You said, making a point to stare right into his eyes 𑁋 God, they were so beautiful, was there nothing but beauty in this man’s body?
“Okay, so I think we’re all good here with the karaoke! Who wants to go first?” Hearing that you came of your very dangerous thoughts and Makayla jumped up and down, screaming:
“Me! Me! Me!”
“Alright, little lady, then come pick a song!” Jay told her and stood by to help her with her choice.
About three hours later all three of you had already sung your hearts out 𑁋 Jay having had gone for ABBA, which surprised you and Mak, to say the least 𑁋 eaten lots of pizza, drunk lots of soda and had begun watching a movie, cause you told Jay that that always did the trick when it came to Mak falling asleep. But, God, it was hard to pay attention to the movie you were supposed to be watching when sitting next to a guy like that. And he wasn’t just really handsome. He was sweet and kind and funny. Also, he was so good with Makayla. It was like everything you’d always imagined the perfect man being like was right there, reunited in the detective’s goof self. But you couldn't be thinking those thoughts about him. Not when he was so close. And definitely not when your best friend's daughter was lying on both of your laps.
So, in order to calm your thoughts for a minute, you gently put Makayla’s head on a cushion as you got up 𑁋 because she was already asleep 𑁋, and said I’m gonna get started on cleaning over there.” It was indeed necessary since Mak had dropped all of the content of a big ice cream container near the dining table, the ice cream being very sticky and sort of liquid 𑁋 which was obviously beyond your understanding but who were you to judge Kim and her preferences?
"Oh God, lemme help you!" You heard Jay saying, as he quickly made his way from the corridor over to where you were cleaning the floor, by the dining table.
"Ah, there's no need for it. I'm used to spending time with Mak, and, then, cleaning up before Kim sees it." You told him with a sly smile.
"Ha! Well, I don't doubt it! You're really good with her."
"And she's really good at making giant messes."
"Right." He said, chuckling lightly. "But, this time, I bet you felt like there were two kids, huh?"
"Your words, not mine, detective."
"Anyways, I'll help. Don't tell Kim and Adam, cause they might spread it across the district, but I'm actually pretty good at cleaning. Especially, when compared to someone who's doing such a lousy job." At that, you instantly snapped your head in his direction.
"What did you just say?" You asked, pretending to be mad while standing up and raising your sponge, as if it was a weapon you were threatening him with.
"Uh… Uh, d- did you know that pulling a weapon on a cop is a crime?" He asked, trying to play along, but stuttering a little.
"And what are you gonna do?" Now that Makayla was asleep… "Huh? Arrest me?" Jesus Christ, you definitely weren't thinking straight, you thought as you watched Jay drop his mop, also spilling all the soapy water on the floor. He even motioned to take care of it but stopped when he realized that you were, now, standing closer. Closer than it was safe for him to be near a woman like you. So he decided to take a step backward, not remembering the floor situation and slipping. As a reflex, you grabbed his shirt when you were obviously not gonna be able to prevent him from falling.
So, you ended up falling with him. On top of him. Oh God, was that living room always so hot? Your thoughts were cut off by Jay's laugh, it was an open-mouthed laugh, just like when you two were interacting with Makayla. He didn't seem to be the kind of guy who got to laugh too much, especially given his job. But it definitely suited his features. His smile, that bright, was so beautiful.
"So you're seriously not even gonna try and get up? Just gonna stay there staring?" Hearing that, you blushed instantly, because you hadn't even realized you were staring.
"Ah, uh… Right." Now, that was your turn to stutter, and Jay was loving every second of it. He thought you looked absolutely adorable like that. Even more so than you had looked all night.
But you weren't feeling adorable at all. You were embarrassed. By the situation at hand, sure, but, also, by your entire behavior that had, pretty much, gotten the two of you in that position. What was going through your head? The answer was simple: nothing. Or, better yet, Jay's gorgeous face, body, and behavior. Just, Jay being gorgeous all night. Now, what really made you wanna dig a hole and jump right into it was when you tried to get up but the floor was so slippery that you just fell back on him.
Needless to say, he was having a playfield. Laughing like there was no tomorrow. In fact, he had relaxed completely under you, laying his head on the soaked floor.
"You know what? This is pretty comfortable. I think I'll stay right here." It was official: you had no self-shame.
"Are you serious?" He asked, trying hard to hold back from laughing.
"Look, I don't know what else to do, okay? And my brain is clearly affected by your little charm, because I just keep mortifying myself over and over-"
"So you think I'm charming, huh?" Damn it. A thousand times damn it.
"Uh… That's not exactly what I-" You couldn't finish your sentence, as Jay started pulling you even closer to him. Kissing you. Oh boy, how he kissed you…
"Oh. My. God." Both you and Jay jumped away from each other, as much as you could, the second you heard Kim say that, her being followed suit by Adam:
"What the hell is that?!?" He half-asked, half-barked at the both of you, trying hard to not burst into laughter.
"Uh, it's, um, it's not what you're thinking, guys-"
"It's not what I'm thinking?!?" Yeah… It was safe to say that Kim was pissed. "Are you sure it isn't? Because the image actually seemed pretty self-explanatory to me!" As the both of you just kept working out a way to get up from the floor, she continued: "I come back home thinking that everything was gonna be perfect because my daughter had two adults babysitting her! People that I thought were quite responsible but, then, I come home to find those very adults making out on the floor in my living room! My very dirty living room! And, by the way, where the hell is Makayla?"
"She, um, she's in her bedroom. Asleep." Jay finally spoke. "And, about the mess… We were just, uh…"
"Yeah, man, we saw what you were just doing," Adam said, looking like he was having the time of his life.
"No! That's not what he was gonna say-"
"Ah, so the two of you got along so well that now you even know what he was going to say, (y/n)?" Kim said, while glaring at you.
"All I meant was that, well, the place got a little dirty…" Jay started to explain but not fast enough.
"A little???" Kim was really, really mad, you realized.
"But dinner was great!" At that, both you and Kim just stared at him incredulously while Adam started laughing on his way to the kitchen.
"That's what you were going to say???" You ask him, not believing you'd just tried to defend him for some joke. "Kim, I'm sorry things ended up this unfruitful…" You began to tell your best friend, to try and patch things up, when Adam chipped in from the other room.
"You know, darling, Jay wasn't wrong! This pizza is great!" He barked, mouth full. And that's what got Kim to go over the edge.
"Don't you realize what just happened here, Adam??? And, you two! I still haven't heard an explanation on what the hell I just saw!"
"I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry! We were cleaning up and then it just-"
"It just what, (y/n)??? It just happened? That what you were gonna say?"
"As a matter of fact, yes, it is! It just happened because you and your boyfriend made me babysit with this ridiculously hot guy and I'm human! Now, before you have another crisis, Makayla didn't see anything and I'm leaving because I just humiliated myself more than enough for a lifetime!" With that said, and your flight or flee instinct activated — cause you were never much of a fighter —, you did the smartest thing possible and stormed out of there, hoping to be able to get into some sort of protection program for embarrassment victims.
Meanwhile, Adam and Kim simply had to laugh, even more so when they noticed Jay's shocked twinkling expression.
"Jay! What is wrong with you?" Kim asked, taking him out of his daze.
"What?"
"Go after her! If I hadn't been so upset about the circumstances, I would've been the first one to say that what happened over there?" She asked, pointing to the floor. "What happened there was hot." The officer finished her trail of thought bluntly, as if it was the most obvious thing.
"But… What about your living room?" Jay asked, still unsure of what to do.
"Are you kidding me? Look, Halstead, if you promise not to break her heart… I won't hold it against you." Kim stated, making her stance on the whole matter very clear. She thought it was a good way to start apologizing to you after freaking out like that.
"Uh, uh, alright!" The detective rambled, looking like he had no idea of what to do next.
“Go!” With that last push, he left his friends’ house to go try and get the girl.
“You know, this is quite a mess but they do have the potential to be a great couple!” Adam happily pointed out, as he kept eating all he could find.
“Ha! If she’s as lucky as I am…” Kim ironically muttered, as she watched her boyfriend impolitely shoving food in his mouth.
“Then she’s a very lucky lady!” He confidently stated with a grin while all Kim could do was laugh at his messy childish ways.
Outside burzek's apartment — burzek being the ship name you used to tease Kim and Adam with —, you had been slowly walking towards the subway. You wanted to move faster but your mind was too full at the moment. And, sometimes, when you needed to get your head back on straight, you couldn't really do anything else, having a hard time concentrating on your flow of thoughts.
It was right when you were beginning to think you had stopped the spirals in your mind that you heard him: "(y/n)!" You recognized the detective's voice on the spot. How could you not, after how he had managed to disrupt your thoughts and actions all evening? But you weren't about to turn back around and have your very own movie ending with him. You just knew it wasn't gonna play out like that and decided to keep walking in order to preserve the little dignity you still had. "Oh, c'mon! Just give me a minute! Please!" That pleading made you turn around, to let him down more politely, which ended up with the two of you almost hitting each other. Once again, that same night, he was too close to you. The proximity with his body sending all sorts of heatwaves through yours. He seemed to be feeling it too, given the way he started to look at you, the damn smirk back on his lips.
"Nu-uh. You don't get to look at me like that. Not after what it did to me the first time."
"Huh. Care to elaborate on that? How exactly am I looking at you?" He asked, moving even closer to you altogether. "And, more importantly, what exactly did it do to you?"
"You don't need me to answer any of that." You pointed out, crossing your arms over your chest — clearly going into defensive mode.
"Maybe not," he started, tilting his head slightly — the damn smirks never leaving his face. "But. I'd like to hear it nevertheless."
"Well, you're not going to."
"Ah, okay." Wait, was he really giving up that easily? "Then maybe I can just try and see what it does to you one more time? For the sake of curiosity." All you could think to say was an enthusiastic 'Yes, please!' but, when he started leaning in to kiss you, you seemed to come back to your senses, pushing him away and taking some steps back of your own.
"Oh my God! Don't you get it? We can't be doing this right now. Not after the way I left things with Kim because of our previous, um, actions!" At that, Jay just gave you a confused look. "I stormed out of there but just because I was feeling too ashamed about it all and I honestly don’t think that I want any more embarrassment for a lifetime.
“Okay, okay. I get that but maybe it would feel less embarrassing for you if you knew that I was feeling all of that too: all of that buzzing energy and the goddamn butterflies and everything. You were doing exactly the same I did to you to me. And, as embarrassing as it was to be caught like that by Adam and Kim, I still can’t say I regret any of it. In fact, I was thinking that maybe we could do it again? You know, minus all the mess and the kid 𑁋 I mean, I adore Mak but that would be-”
You didn’t care to listen to the rest of all he had to say. Instead, you threw yourself into his arms, even making him lose his balance for a second, and started kissing him, except that this time it was a slow, hot, and thought-through kiss. And the second you did kiss him, you heard clapping and whistling from afar, as you turned to find Kim and Adam there, once again witnessing you and Jay kiss. And that had Jay whispering to you:
“Let’s get out of here?” To which you responded simply with a:
“Yes, please!”

“You just need to buck up and ask her out.”
Curtis rolled his eyes at his friend sitting in a lawn chair across from him in the rooftop garden, pairing it with a scoff before he took another sip of his beer.
“It’s not that easy, dude.”
Ari, Curtis’s longtime friend, co-owner and often co-bartender of the main dive in town shifted in his seat with a raised brow and tilt of the head. “Sure it is! You’re hot, and from the way you talk about her, so is she. I don’t see what could go wrong.”
Curtis grumbled and finished off his bottle, grabbing another from the bucket of ice and uncapping it. “A lot. A lot could go wrong, Ari. I don’t want a quick fuck and I sure as hell don’t have girls throwing themselves at me like you do on Friday nights.”
Ari scoffed, but had no rebuttal, it was true. Women flocked to Ari’s side of the bar, always creating a crowd where the regulars couldn’t get served. So Curtis took them, while Ari could be caught slinging dozens of fruity drinks for all the flirts who constantly mentioned how strong and attentive he was. The only reason Curtis didn’t complain was because they split tips, Ari getting several banknotes marked with phone numbers and salacious messages, and Curtis getting the peace of the calmer drinkers.
Sure, a woman here and there would come to Curtis for a drink, figuring Ari wasn’t worth the wait and the shoulder bumping, but that was few and far between. Until you.
From the moment he watched you walk through the door, he kept an eye on your searching gaze, smiling when you saw your friends, but making a beeline for him before you went and sat.
The next time you came up to him, though, Curtis made sure your drink was on the house. Anything for the pretty girl who smiled at him. Chose him. And was much more enjoyable than his grumbling regulars.
Curtis was pulled out of this thoughts by Ari’s groan.
“Listen, I don’t think women throw themselves at me…”
Curtis looked at his friend with disbelief at the blatant lie.
“…that much. Not that much, I was gonna finish, jeez. Plus, what’s it matter, it’s not like I take them home…usually. Sloppy drunk isn’t cute and too many of them just keep coming back until I cut them off. No one has chatted me up like they want a date instead of in my pants because all I get are googly eyes, but this sounds different for you. She sounds good.”
Curtis sighed and wiped a hand over his beard. Ari was right. You were good. Probably too good for him. Plus, it’s not like you even noticed any move he tried to put on you. You were probably just being nice, not flirty. You probably didn’t even notice the free drinks using special ingredients made from the garden, the rare smile he’s never given another customer. It was kind of infuriating that he was so ready to give himself over to you and you had no idea just how deep it ran. How it affected him and stayed on his mind even in the off hours. Guys had to be throwing themselves at you, and he was just another one to add on to the bottom of the list.
“Yeah, yeah, I just…I don’t wanna mess it up, ya know? Am I even ready for this? Why now? Why do I have to feel something now? And I don’t even know if she feels the same way!”
Ari only offered a shrug.
“I don’t know, man. When it’s time, it’s time.”
That’s all he gave. Curtis groaned and wiped a hand down his face, rubbing back and forth over his beard once again. “Yeah….it’s just…ugh. I can’t think of anything else. I’ve got all these plans for bar improvement. The herb garden is finally coming in nicely and I was gonna meet with those brunch people from the city to talk about expanding our offerings beyond the few ideas I’ve come up with, but I can’t focus on a goddamn thing other than her.”
Curtis was almost mad it was affecting him so much—that he looked forward to seeing you. Yearned to make you another drink, hold conversation just a second longer. Nothing had ever stuck to his mind this much.
Ari only laughed as he looked over the edge of the roof at the town where the two had grown up. Over all that time, he had never seen his buddy this torn up.
Pulling two more drinks out of the bucket, he uncapped them and handed one to his friend.
“Well, here’s hoping you get this all sorted out. And by that, I mean, get your big boy pants on, fully admit your feelings, and ask her out.”
Curtis groaned and threw a hand over his eyes while his best friend simply smirked, knowing he was right.
Tumblr media
It was Friday night and you were hanging out with some of your friends at the bar you had been frequenting lately. Everyone around you was in deep conversation, but you were lost, zoned out, with your mind on only one thing: that gruff bartender.
You had already been up to see him three times this evening, insisting to be the one to get the next rounds for the table in hopes of garnering his attention.
You felt successful. Maybe? Every time you went up to him, his full attention was on you. And it looked like he was smiling, right? Well, no, he probably did that with everyone. Except…in the several times you had caught yourself staring at him, he never once made that same face at another customer. So it had to mean something, didn’t it?
You felt your shoulder shaking, pulling you out of your thoughts and blinked back into consciousness.
“What? What?” You shook your head and looked back at your group of friends.
Alana sitting next to you rolled her eyes with a laugh. “Your drink has been sitting empty for a minute, girl. We’re just surprised you haven’t gone back to the broody bartender, yet! Jenna said she dropped by and all she got was a scowl when she asked for green tea shots, but we see the way he looks at you. Think you could score us some good shots?”
You scoffed and leaned back in your seat, trying to deny what you felt, but didn’t necessarily see. “Oh please, I’m sure he doesn’t even notice me!”
The three girls across from you exchanged a glance before Jenna shook her head. “Um, wrong. One hundred percent wrong. I’m pretty sure you’re all he notices and he’s the same for you. Can’t believe you two are so blind to each other. You keep going up to him and you’re up to a total of what? Half a dozen free drinks over a few visits at this point?”
Everyone around you shared the same knowing glance and you were ready to concede. You couldn’t help the way your heart started beating faster with anticipation of going up to him again, but the alcohol flowing through your body, finally settling in, was enough to override any last ounce insecurity you had. You just wanted to be close to him that badly again, despite his apparent disdain for fancy shots. It was worth a try, though, so you sighed and nodded and stood up, saving your brain power so you could say something coherent to the beautifully beastly bartender.
As you steadied yourself in your shoes, the alcohol hit a little harder, but you weren’t going to stop now. As you began your steps across the wooden floor, your eyes locked with the man with the dark beard and buzz cut and watched as his deft hands slid another beer across the counter at a regular.
You waltzed up to the varnished bar and drummed your fingers on the edge as you looked up at the head between a towering pair of broad shoulders. If you’d have known better, you’d have said he was almost beaming at you.
“Hey sweet thing, what can I get you?”
A tingle went down your spine at that. You would’ve claimed it was the alcohol, if you hadn’t known that it usually numbed you instead of set your body alight. The bartender, who you’d come to know as Curtis, usually wasn’t that outright with the pet names. From what you had seen so far, he was pretty reserved. Something had changed tonight, though, and you couldn’t complain about that, so you threw it back.
“Well, handsome, I’m really sorry to ask this, but would you be willing to make me four green tea shots? I’m sorry if it’s a lot to ask…”
From your side, you heard a snicker, and your eyes found an older gentleman, likely one of the bar regulars. Curtis’s gaze had darted to him, too, except his eyes were stern. The gentleman knew that Curtis wasn’t usually one to make drinks with more than a couple steps, and especially not on more than one occasion in a night unless it was for someone pretty exceptional. And you seemed like both of those things. Curtis simply cleared his throat to regain your attention and pulled out the glasses before finding what he needed.
“Well lucky for you, I’m sure you could talk me into saying ‘yes’ to whatever you want.” He winked as he expertly tipped the bottles.
A blush crept up your cheeks along with the one the liquor had put there. You were gone enough on his behavior and your last few drinks that there wasn’t much to hold you back anymore before you blurted, “Does that include dinner with me next Thursday?”
Curtis stopped in his tracks, slamming the bottles down on the counter with a loud thud that startled you. His face was almost unreadable. Sure, before tonight, you felt like he may not have seemed interested, but in your small chats over drink orders throughout this evening, that changed. You didn’t read this wrong, did you?
You watched intently as his gaze which was fixed on the worn wooden table shifted upward to look at you through his eyelashes. Those gorgeous, long eyelashes. A true, genuine smile was on his lips. He had no idea you felt the same way as him. “Yeah. I think it does.”
Tumblr media
Bonus A/N: bartender!Curtis will return in the second part of this, and we’ll see much more about his herb garden and secret treats for his girl. This is the first thing I’ve written in months, so cut me some slack, okay, but I’d love your feedback in all forms.

I saw one of your latest fics (PERFECT HONEY🤍) and I just thought you were a great writer and it was like so cute and soft AAARGH
and then I also saw that you were accepting requests and I couldn't help but get excited, because I had an idea the other day - BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO WRITE 😭 so...
I was thinking about a short story fluff like with re2r Leon, where he still works at the police station but kind of without those traumatizing events YOU KNOW (or idk, you decide) so,,, he already knows Claire, who works in a cozy café near the police station where Leon usually goes on his break, buttt,, a new employee arrived (reader) and became friends with Claire (and kind of attracted Leon's attention 🥀) and idk, she (you decide if you want to use a feminine or neutral pronoun;) could work as a barista or waitress and was kind to Leon, until Leon started going to the cafe more often just to see her (or babbling about how pretty she is with Claire) until he found the courage to ask for her number or talk properly with her and, I don't know, this could end in a date or just Leon being a fool in love with a kind barista or waitress :)
IDK I AM DELULU BUT I KIND OF THOUGHT OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT
so...feel free to ignore this if you found it boring hun ^^ Thank you in advance for reading this thought and if you want to accept the idea ;)🩷🩷

Notes: My first request! I hope you like this, I honestly found this concept so cute, and I love writing for RE2R Leon.
WC: 1.7K
CW: Fluffy Leon, no outbreak, Leon just being a clutz sometimes. Claire being your wingwoman basically and getting you both together. Mention of Y/N like once.
➽───────────────────────❥
After his first week in the RPD, Leon managed to get himself to work early enough to not get a lecture from Lieutenant Branagh. Soon enough, he met Chris Redfield who worked for S.T.A.R.S. Which quickly led to Chris taking him to a nearby café where his sister worked. Claire was a sweet girl, Leon and her slowly opened up to each other after a few days. Promptly, he became a regular customer. Getting the same raspberry and white chocolate muffin alongside a vanilla latte. Today was no different, Leon entering the café - however, he didn't see Claire at the counter. But you.
Leon couldn't help but think you were the prettiest girl he had seen. Trying to avert his eyes from your face he felt his legs subconsciously walk over to where Claire was sweeping the floor. "Morning Claire... New employee?" He mumbled as he nodded his head over to your direction. "Yeah! She came in yesterday. Super sweet." She laughed, taking out the tea towel as she wiped down the coffee table. "You don't have to be scared Leon." Claire couldn't help but snicker as she stared at Leon mentally psyching himself up to not fuck up his order. "I'm not scared.." He yipped back, before walking up to the counter.
Your hands slowly wrapped around the mug handle as you polished the inside of it, oblivious to the man in front of you. A quiet tap of the bell seized your attention, looking up to see a dark blonde haired man staring at your movements. "Oh! Sorry, hold on I'll only be a minute." You frantically rush back to the mug stack, gently placed it on top before returning to the stranger. "Sorry about that, what can I get you?" A bright smile is plastered on your face as you tap onto the half broken machine, trying to input your worker code. "Uh.. please could I get the raspberry white chocolate muffin and a vanilla latte?" Leon asked, fumbling with his thumbs below the counter. Thank fuck he didn't mess up his sentence. His hands slowly travelled to his face as he swept the hair out of his eyes, maybe he really should get a trim...
"Yeah of course! That'll be $6.24 please." Leon fumbled with his wallet after taking out $10. "You can keep the change." Leon uttered as the cash register opened, the till jittering out. You couldn't help but smile sweetly as he offered the change to you. "Are you sure?" He nodded as he saw you put the tip in your pocket. "Thanks... I'll get that for you straight away." Your body shifted towards the coffee machine. Leon couldn't help but admire the way you performed your job, it was somehow so different to how Claire would do it. You were angelic in your movements - his thoughts soon interrupted as he felt someone tap his shoulder. "In love?" Claire teased, earning a nudge from Leon's elbow into her side. "Ouch! Okay.. okay." She laughed as she went behind the counter, packaging Leon's muffin. You couldn't help but glance at Leon's smile. He was cute, super cute.
A few minutes later, a warm takeaway coffee cup and muffin stuffed into a brown paper bag laid neatly in front of Leon. "Thanks." Leon took both items into his hand and waved off to Claire, showing you a small smile as the bell chimed, indicating he had left the store. "Who was that?" You rushed over to Claire, her eyes looking at you with playful eyes. "That's Leon, he's my brother's friend or I guess co-worker sort of? He works for the RPD." Claire responded to you with a funny tone. "Why are you looking at me like that?" You laughed out, slowly wiping down the coffee stains on the counter. Your eyes wondering over to the door, missing the stranger you just encountered. "Oh it's nothing, I'm sure you and him will get along well y'know?" She giggled, shoving the tea towel in her pocket. "What the fuck is that suppos-" Your sentence quickly cut off as Claire shouted "I'm going on my break!"
Days passed, time and time again Leon soon became a person you got used to seeing. Smiling whenever you would see that navy blue uniform. A small crush blossomed in your heart - you couldn't tell him that though. Nor could you tell Claire, but she saw it in the way you stared at him as he ordered the same thing. Soon enough, you prepared it beforehand for him to have immediately. 8:30 AM, that's when Leon would come in. With that same uniform and same hairstyle, oh and of course he was handsome every time. Today was no different, except for the fact you weren't in. Leon's day was 100 times better when he saw you, entering the café he expects to see you. Seeing Claire at the front instead of cleaning caught him off guard. "Where's Y/N?" Leon closed the door behind him, leaving the cold and rubbing his hands together as the cozy environment felt different.
"She called in sick, why? Are you lovestruck?" She poked fun at him, getting his order ready. "Oh shut up.." He chuckled, sitting down at a nearby table. Thinking about Claire's words, he knew she was right. He was lovestruck by you. Leon couldn't help but find you so attractive, the way you were so attentive to him. That small talk wasn't awkward with you. He had a crush. "Honestly, yeah." His eyes diverted to the muffin and latte ahead of him. Claire's ears perked hearing his mini confession? "Oh?" She smacked his shoulder lightly. "She's beautiful and super sweet, don't get me started on how.." Leon soon rambled on about you, from your personality to your looks, the way you carried yourself. Losing himself in time as he subconsciously sipped on the latte, finishing the muffin. Claire had to sit down for this, it was cute seeing him chatter about you. "Fuck, sorry about that." He chuckled, checking his wrist-watch, seeing the time flicker to 9:00 AM. "Shit, I gotta go. Thank you for the treat Claire." Leon hastily got up and dashed out the door. Oh how Claire couldn't wait to tell you all about this tomorrow.
"You're shitting me right?" You mumbled, polishing the mugs as you looked over to the wall clock. 8:25 AM. Leon's order by your side as you heard Claire laugh. "Why would I lie about him basically confessing his love about you?" She nudged your arm, snickering as your eyes rolled back playfully. As if Leon could have a crush on you. I mean, you were just a barista who served him his raspberry white chocolate muffin and vanilla latte. What could've been so special about your actions? "Get out of your trance, it's 8:28." You heard Claire from one ear to another as she moved to dust the corners of the room. Oh how cruel could she be to leave you with this new information? The chime of the door caught you off-guard, seeing that same man in that RPD uniform.
"Good morning Leon." A shaky voice elicited from your throat. For Christs sake, pull yourself together. "Morning.. I see my order there." He chuckled, pulling out his wallet, taking out a $20 bill. "Keep the rest." A small grin crept on his face as he passed it to you. You couldn't accept this, not for basically doing something that took you three minutes at most. "Oh Leon, I can't accept this." A breathy laugh pursued out your lips. He wasn't going to take no for an answer. "Please, it's on me. You've been nothing but sweet to me. And this place must be a pain in the ass to clean up at the end of the day." Leon laughed as he took his muffin and latte, sitting down at a table. That was unusual. He usually left to enjoy his snack, but today seemed different. Your friendship seemed different. Leon was right, the sticky sugared tables and coffee splatters were annoying to clean - knowing he would refuse the money if given back to him, you stuffed the change in your pocket. "Thanks Leon.. but you really don't have to tip me each day. Makes me feel guilty, like I owe you." You muttered as you came out from behind the counter. Leon's eyes wondered over you, a small smile corrupting his lips as he thought of something.
"Well.. if you think you owe me, come sit down with me for a bit?" A teasing tone was laced with his words, but who were you to deny him. Even if the blush on your face was evident. "Alright, but why are you sat down? Don't you have to get to the station quick?" Your question rang in his head, your voice melodic in his ears. "Not really, if it comes to it I'll run." He chuckled, sipping on the latte. Burning just the tip of this tongue - warming up the rest of his body. Nothing warmed him up like you though, those pretty lips that rested peacefully on your face. Your giggles enticing him as he looked at your hands slowly fiddle, it was clear you were nervous. Fuck. So was he, but to him this was now or never.
"I uh... can I have your number?" Leon hastily said, averting his eyes from you and staring into the little leaf shape carved by the frothed milk in his hot drink. Did he mess up? Troubled thoughts rushed over Leon's head until he heard you speak. "My number, sure." You couldn't help but smile, Leon just asked for your number. This was practically a dream come true. A quick exchange of each others phone numbers soon lead to a conversation. Getting to know each other was time consuming which soon lead to Leon's face dropping as he checked his wristwatch. "Shit it's 9:15." He laughed, putting his leftovers in the bin. "I'll text you later yeah?" His hand waved off to you, feeling content in yourself.
Throwing your bag to the side of your room, your back aching from the constant horrible posture you had as you bent over tables to wipe them. Your phone buzzed. It was from Leon.
Leon: Can I take you out for dinner this weekend?

___________________________________________
1st Person POV (reader)
Here I am, making my way to my home after hours practicing the next cheer performance. Exhausted and with my ponytail, I was almost at home, but something caught my attention, a loud song coming from one of the houses in my neighborhood. The sound wasn’t clear, but I followed it, letting go of how tired I was, walking to the house I thought the sound was coming. Surprisingly, I knew whose house was.
I knew that Gerard was my classmate since ever, he wasn’t much of a talking guy, nor did his style match with the rest of the people around here. I'm not gonna lie here, I always had a bit of curiosity about him. Not too long ago, I found out he lives three houses away from mine. Part of me wanted to ‘casually’ knock there to say ‘hi’.
At first I didn't recognize the voice, but when I approached his house I was sure that it was definitely his voice. Enchanted by the sound, I stepped the closest I could, paying attention to the song. Wasn’t just Gerard singing what seems to be an authorial song, but there's a bass, at least two guitars and drums.
Wasn’t perfect but it sounded incredible in my ears. Hypnotized by the song, I stayed there to the end of it… damn it was really good. Before I could even think, I started to hear some voices that I didn't recognize, except for Gerard’s.
- Yeah, let’s run through it one more time, - He said
- Sure! Maybe we can try the second solo we talked about. - Another voice replied
- Okay Okay, I'm gonna drink something before…
Realizing they’d catch me if I stayed any longer, I hurried back home, my mind still replaying every sound I’d just heard. I was so exhausted that I practically collapsed onto my bed, but even as I drifted off, his voice echoed in my mind.
The next morning, I couldn’t stop humming a part of the song I’d heard. It was catchy, and I kept thinking about how much I wanted to tell Gerard how incredible they sounded.
When lunchtime rolled around, I did what I normally did: sat with the other girls on the cheerleading team, surrounded by the usual crowd of football players. But today felt different. I kept glancing over to where Gerard always sat alone in the corner. His brother went to a different school, and he didn’t really have a group here. I wanted to change that, at least for a moment.
- Hey, where are you going? - one of my friends asked, confused as I got up.
- Don’t worry, I’ll be right back,- I replied, giving her a quick smile before making my way toward Gerard.
He was sitting on the floor, with his lunch next to him, while he flipped through a comic book, completely distracted. I stopped in front of him, and as soon as he noticed me, his gaze went up to my face.
- Hi! Can i sit? - I asked, hoping I didn’t startle him too much.
He took a few seconds to answer, his cheeks turned light red, and he avoided eye contact.
- Uh… s-sure - His tone was shy, but i could feel that he was a bit happy - but your uniform-
- I don't mind. - Smiling, I sat next to him, then explained. - I'll change into normal clothes after lunch anyway.
- If you say so… - a shy smile appeared on his face.
- So… Hey, I heard you singing last night.. - When these words left my mouth, what was a light blush turned into a bright red tone on his face. And his eyes wide -. I didn’t know you were in a band.
- Y-you heard?! - he exclaimed, shock evident in his expression, his eyes met mine.
- Yeah I was walking home and… well we’re neighbors… so… - I tried to explain, with a soft smile, trying not not to scare him off or something.
- Can you please not make fun of this? - He sighed, anguished - Like, yeah, sure, call me weirdo, ask for me to do your homework or else but… can you not mention this?
- Why should I make fun of it?! - Not gonna lie, i feel a bit sad for him thinking of me like this, but i almost yelled - You guys are fucking awesome!
- R-really? Do you think so? - He calmed down, but a bit suspicious - I didn’t know you were into this kind of music…
- I totally am! Do you guys perform anywhere? - I leaned closer, excitement bubbling up. - I would love to see a full show!
- Not yet… - Nervous, he stopped to think - But if you want, you can come over to my house to, y’know, watch us practice… we're going to rehearse tomorrow... if you want to stop by after your practice...
- I would love to! - My smile widened, feeling a rush of anticipation.
After our conversation, I felt a rush of excitement as I got up to head back to my friends. I cast one last glance at Gerard, who was now fiddling nervously with his comic book, his cheeks still slightly pink, but there was a smile in the corner of his lips.
As I approached the table where the cheer squad sat, they looked up, curiosity evident in their expressions.
- Hey, where were you? - my friend asked, raising an eyebrow. - Why were you talking to him?
There was a playful tone in her voice, as if she was implying that I was flirting with him.
- Yeah, what’s his name again? Gerald? - another friend chimed in, a hint of amusement in her tone. - He’s a bit weird, don’t you think?
I hesitated for a moment, considering how to respond. I didn’t want to let on that I had been intrigued by Gerard’s singing. My friends wouldn’t understand, not now, they’d just tease me about it.
- Oh, we were just discussing a class project,- I said, trying to sound casual. - You know how the teachers are always assigning those weird group projects? He has some great ideas.
They exchanged skeptical looks, and I could see they weren’t completely convinced.
- A class project? Really? - She smirked. - You’re not trying to tell me you’ve developed a sudden interest in the ‘weird kid’?
- Come on, he’s just a classmate, - I said, shrugging it off, a smile plastered on my face. - It’s not a big deal.
But inside, I felt a spark of excitement that I couldn’t quite hide. I had made a connection, and even if my friends didn’t get it, I knew I wanted to see Gerard again, especially to hear him sing.
- Yeah, sure. - She said mockingly, getting up - Let’s change our clothes and go back to class.
The rest of the day passed in a blur, but I couldn’t stop thinking about Gerard’s shy smile and the way his eyes had lit up when I told him he was amazing. That spark of excitement kept me awake longer than I’d like to admit, and by morning, I already had a plan.
The next day , I casually told the girls that I needed to leave school a bit early. But as soon as the words left my mouth, I noticed their expressions shift, mischievous smirks spreading across their faces.
- Oh, leaving early, huh? - She raised an eyebrow, leaning in. - I bet you have a date with your ‘class partner’... I mean, classmates.
- Really funny. - I rolled my eyes - It’s just… homework.
- Sure, I totally believe in it… - She mocked and I blushed - You know, if you’re into him, you can tell us! We won’t judge... much.
I laughed awkwardly, hoping no one noticed.
- C’mon I'm serious, and I gotta go. - I started to pack my things - don’t want to be late.
- Alright, fine. Go hang out with your little ‘project partner.’- Another of my friends said, laughing - Just don’t come back quoting comic books or whatever he’s into.
- See you guys tomorrow. - With a chuckle, I leave the court.
I made my way to Gerard’s house, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. Part of me was still amazed that I was doing this, showing up at the "weird kid’s" house after practically lying to my friends about it. But I couldn’t help it; I was curious, and I wanted to see him in his basement. I knocked on the door and waited, glancing around at the worn porch steps.
The door creaked open, and Gerard stood there, his eyes widening in surprise.
- Oh, hey… you actually came!
- Of course I did,- I replied, giving him a warm smile. - I didn’t say I would if I didn’t mean it.
- Uh, C-cool - His gaze on the floor, and he seems to be nervous - Come on in, then.
As I walked into the house, I heard a voice call out from down the hallway.
- Oh, my big brother brought his cheerleader girlfriend home! - Mikey’s head popped out from around the corner, a teasing grin on his face.
- Mikey, shut up! - Gerard’s face turned bright red, and he stammered, clearly embarrassed. - She’s not- w-we’re not-
- I’m just a fan - I said with a grin, hoping it’d take the pressure off him.
- Yeah, sure. Just a fan.- He raised an eyebrow at Gerard. - Well, the others are already in the basement. I’ll grab my bass and be right down.
I followed Gerard through the house, catching a glimpse of various band posters and comic books strewn around. He opened a door leading down into the basement, where I could already hear faint sounds of tuning guitars.
As we reached the bottom of the stairs, I spotted Ray and Frank, both of whom looked up in surprise when they saw me. Ray nudged Frank, and they exchanged a smirk.
- Well, well, looks like Gerard brought his cheerleader girlfriend to watch us practice,- Frank teased, waggling his eyebrows.
- Guys, come on… - Gerard groaned, his cheeks going red again. - She’s just here to watch. For the music… y’know…
- Yep, totally for the music! - I chuckled, trying to ease him - You guys were awesome the other night!
- Oh, she’s a fan - Frank said, giving me a wink. - So, we’ve got an audience now. Let’s make it worth it!
- Guess we can’t let Gerard’s cheerleader down. - Ray laughed while tuning the guitar.
Gerard shot them both a glare, but I could see he was smiling a little. We all settled in, and as the band began to play, I couldn’t help but feel like I was exactly where I was meant to be, watching Gerard and his friends create something that felt raw, real, and amazing.
As the guys settled into their instruments, I found myself a spot on an old armchair near the back of the basement. Gerard shot me a quick, nervous glance, as if making sure I was still okay with being there. I gave him an encouraging nod, hoping to ease some of his nerves.
As they played, I was really loving the music and the way each of them put their passion into the song. The lyrics were intense and Gerard's voice was mesmerizing. As the music played, my gaze wandered around the basement, looking at the absurd amount of comic books and CDs that filled several shelves (and the floor), as well as the posters on the walls. But soon my gaze turned to Gerard, and remained analyzing every detail of his performance.
all the mannerisms, the wrinkled sweatshirt, the slightly smudged eyeliner along with the dark circles, the pink lips and the long, messy hair. When the music ended, it took me a few seconds to regain my attention, which only came out of this trance when a voice interrupted my thoughts.
Suddenly, his voice broke through my thoughts.
- So… what did you think? - he asked, scratching the back of his neck, his eyes wide and hopeful. There was this nervous little shine in them that made my heart skip.
- It was amazing! - I said, grinning as I stood up, clapping a little too enthusiastically.
- Really? - He blinked, clearly surprised, and a tiny, bashful smirk crept up at the corner of his mouth.
- Yeah! - I stepped closer, feeling the excitement bubble up. - You guys are actually really good!
- Thanks! - Frank said, giving me a grin. - You should come every time we play!
- You think so? - I asked, hesitating a bit, not wanting to seem like I was intruding.
- Totally! - Mikey jumped in. - You’re a fan, right?
- Definitely! - I laughed, though I worried about my busy schedule. - I can’t promise every time, but I’ll come as much as I can.
Gerard’s face brightened, and for a moment, he looked at me with this big, relieved smile.
- I’d love that-I mean, we’d love that. I mean, it’d be cool to, uh, have you as, like, a regular… fan… - His voice trailed off, and I watched his cheeks turn pink as he realized what he’d said.
He fumbled with his words, his hands fidgeting as he tried to recover.
- I mean, just, it’s cool when you’re around, you know? Not just, like, ‘cause you’re… - He glanced down, clearly searching for words that just weren’t coming. - …It’s just… you’re really supportive, and that’s nice.
I couldn’t help but smile at how cute he was when he got flustered. It was like he didn’t know how to handle a simple compliment, and the more he tried, the more tangled up he got.
Ray chuckled, patting him on the shoulder.
- We get it, dude, - Ray said, smirking. - Breathe.
Gerard let out a shaky sigh, his gaze flicking back to me, the corners of his mouth curling up in a shy smile.
- Anyway, I gotta get going now, - I said, moving toward the door. - But hey, let me know when you’re practicing next?
- Definitely! - Gerard said, looking so relieved, like he’d just passed a test. - I’ll, um… yeah, I’ll let you know.
As I turned to leave, I caught a glimpse of him still staring at me with that hopeful look. It was endearing, the way he looked both thrilled and completely overwhelmed at the idea of me showing up again.
After watching them practice the night before, I couldn't stop thinking about it. So when lunchtime came around, I found myself making my way over to where Gerard was sitting, alone as usual, tucked away near the back wall. He looked up as I approached, his eyes widening slightly, as if he couldn’t believe I’d actually come over again.
- Y-you… really want to sit here? With me? - He stammered, brushing his bangs out of his eyes.
- Of course! - I laughed, plopping down on the floor next to him. - My friends won’t stop talking about the last game… as if I wasn’t there!
- Yeah, I guess they’re pretty into that stuff - Gerard cracked a small smile, relaxing a bit as I settled in.
- Too much, if you ask me… - I chuckled - I’d rather talk about something more interesting… like last night. Seriously, you’re incredible! Your voice? Wow.
His cheeks turned pink, and he avoided eye contact with me, but I noticed the thin smile on his face.
- R-really? I mean, I was just, you know… messing around. It’s nothing special.
-Then I can’t imagine how good you’d be if you were actually trying! - I teased, nudging him lightly. He let out a small laugh, clearly embarrassed but pleased. Glancing down, I noticed the comic book he had open. - What are you reading?
He launched into a surprisingly passionate explanation about the storyline, his eyes lighting up as he talked. Our conversation continued, and with each sentence, I felt like he was slowly opening up, sharing little pieces of himself.
By the time the bell rang, I was surprised at how quickly the minutes had flown by. I stood to head to class, but before I could turn away, he took a deep breath, looking like he was gathering every ounce of courage he had.
- Hey, uh, would you… maybe want to come over? Like… after school? Just us, you know, as friends. We could, uh, watch a movie or something?
My heart skipped a beat, and I couldn’t hold back a grin.
- I’d like that. What movie are you thinking of?
- Whatever you like, - he replied quickly, looking relieved and a little flustered. - My mom has some romance ones lying around… or I’ve got horror if you’re into that?
- I’m not that into horror, but maybe we can watch two movies. You pick one, I’ll pick one…
- Perfect! - His blush deepened, but he nodded eagerly. - My place, after school. Just us.
As I went back to the class, I couldn't stop smiling at the thought of being at his house alone with him… At the start, my feelings about him weren't anything more than friendship, but the more time I spent with him, the more I liked him.
The afternoon was completely normal, but everything was drowned out by the idea that I would see him after school. When the last period finally ended, he was waiting for me at the classroom door, so that we could go to his house together. He was looking down, fiddling with the sleeve of his sweatshirt.
- A-are you still up for-
- Absolutely! - I answered, flashing him a smile. We headed out of the school together, walking toward his house side by side. As we walked, I felt my heart thumping with a mix of excitement and nerves.
In his basement, which was still the same, maybe a bit more messy, he picked up the movie he chose, but before putting it on the DVD, he glanced at me with an insecure look.
- A-are you sure that you want to watch this? 'Cause… you know… it’s alright if you don’t…
- Nope, this is fine, - I sat on his bed, crossing my legs. - Thanks for inviting me, Gee.
The name slipped out so naturally that I barely noticed at first. But Gerard did. His face flushed immediately, his gaze snapping to me. For a moment, he was speechless, trying to process what he’d just heard.
- Did you just..? Y-You…called me ‘Gee’? - He stammered. The corner of his mouth lifted into a shy smile, and he quickly turned his head, trying to hide his reaction. But he couldn’t stop himself from peeking back at me with an even wider grin.
- Oh! I…hope you don’t mind - I said softly, noticing how happy he looked.
- N-no, it’s… it’s actually… - He took a deep breath, his voice barely above a whisper. - I like it.
He sat down next to me and hit play on the remote control, then the movie started. During the movie we exchanged a few glances, and I could feel the atmosphere in the room getting cozier and cozier. In between movies, we chatted a bit about something, but unfortunately the evening ended more quickly than I would have liked.
As I got up to leave, Gerard hesitated for a moment, fidgeting with the edge of his sweater.
- Uh… I could walk you home, you know… since we’re, uh… neighbors and all, - He mumbled, barely meeting her eyes.
- I’d love that.- I smiled warmly, touched by his offer.
We stepped out into the cool evening, walking side by side down the quiet street. Neither of us spoke much, but the silence felt comfortable, filled with the soft sounds of our footsteps. When we finally reached my driveway, I turned to him, pausing for a moment before speaking.
- Thanks for tonight, Gee,
Before he could respond, I wrapped my arms around him in a quick, warm hug. For a second, he froze, his arms awkwardly hovering in the air. But he quickly hugged her back, his face burning as he tried to process what was happening.
- Y-you’re… welcome, - He managed, his voice barely a whisper. He couldn’t stop smiling, even though it looked like his face might actually be on fire.
- Goodnight, Gee. - I said softly, giving him one last smile before turning toward the door.
- Goodnight… -His voice was quieter now, but I could hear the smile in it as he called back. I waved one last time before stepping inside and closing the door behind me.
Damn, maybe I really liked him.
The next morning, I found myself practically floating through the school halls. The memory of last night. The movie, the hug, Gerard's shy smile… kept replaying in my mind. I wasn’t sure what exactly was happening between us, but something about it felt different… and exciting.
But of course, as soon as I walked into the cafeteria, my friends were waiting for me. They practically pounced on me as I sat down, their eyes wide with curiosity.
- Where were you last night? - One of them asked, a teasing grin on her face. - You disappeared after school and didn’t even say goodbye
- Oh, I was just… watching movies with Gee. - I said, trying to play it cool.
The table went silent for a second before they all broke into laughter. She raised an eyebrow, a wicked grin playing on her lips.
- “Gee”?? Really? You’re already calling him “Gee”? Are we going to start planning the wedding soon, or what?
- We’re just friends, okay? It’s not a big deal - I rolled my eyes, trying to hide my blush.
- Yeah sure - She teased.
This teasing lasted the entire meal, but all I could think about was how, despite all this, it was worth every second of the night before.
Those little moments with him, like movie night, kept happening. Moments when he would tell me about the lyrics he was writing, the characters he was creating for the comics and the movies he was watching; I could listen to him talk for hours, because the more he talked, the more excited he seemed.
Whenever I could, I'd go down to his basement to listen to his band rehearsals, and every now and then he'd show up at my practices too.
1st Person POV (Gerard)
Well, another rehearsal with the guys was starting and I was kind of waiting for the “audience”, but it wasn't long before I got a message “Heyy, Gee! I won't be able to make it to rehearsal today. They booked a practice at the last minute, sorry :(”. sighed, feeling that odd, deflated disappointment wash over me. It was strange… I’d never really “needed” someone to be here before.
- Hey, Gerard. Is your girlfriend coming? - Mikey’s voice cut through my thoughts, and his tone, so serious, made me squirm.
- No... - I mumbled, switching off my phone. - And she's not my girlfriend.
- Uhum… - Mikey said with a smirk.
I got up to fix the speaker, while the others tuned their instruments.
- So, Gerard, - Frank began, his voice way too casual, and I already knew what was coming - you and your cheerleader girlfriend going to the big football games this weekend?
My hands went up to my face, which I felt burning.
- Or maybe you’ll take her to one of those fancy parties - My brother is always helping, of course. - You know, all those exclusive high school events she probably gets invited to?
I groaned, trying to ignore them, but I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks. I didn’t know what to say.
- Oh, or maybe you’ll meet her parents soon - Deep inside I thought that Ray wouldn't keep this going. Well, I was wrong. - You know, ask them for permission to hold her hand!
This wasn’t funny. It felt like everything about me and her was getting dragged into some weird joke. The truth is, I wasn’t even sure what I was doing with her, but this wasn’t helping me figure it out.
While they were joking, it felt like they’d hit on something way too real. I wanted to be around her all the time. I wanted to be someone she could actually like. But hearing them mock it just made it feel… impossible.
- I’ve told you guys, We. Are. Not. Dating! - I said, trying to sound firm, but even to my ears, it sounded like I was trying to convince myself.
- Oh, sure, Gerard. We believe you. Totally. - Ray rolled his eyes. - But you want it, don’t you?
I froze. I could feel my heart racing as I tried to make sense of what he had just said. Did I want it? Was that what this was about? I mean, I liked being around her. I liked talking to her, calling her, texting her... But actually thinking about being with her in that way? The way Ray was implying? I couldn’t even picture it without feeling my stomach twist into knots.
- I- I don’t know, man, - I muttered, feeling more lost by the second. - Even if I did... It’s never gonna happen.
I looked down at my hands, trying to keep my voice steady, but it felt like I was talking to a crowd instead of just my bandmates.
- Do you think she would ever want to be seen with me? Like, really? - My voice cracked a little at the end, I felt like I was about to cry. But I couldn’t help it. I was confused. Terrified, even. - Do you think she’d want someone like me?
- Dude, we didn’t mean to-
- Can we change the subject, please? - I mumbled, blinking fast, feeling that awful sting in my eyes. I looked away, hoping they wouldn’t notice the tears building up.
The truth was, deep down, I thought I might like her. Really like her. But it felt like wanting something that was light-years out of reach. I don't belong in the world she's in, it's all so beautiful, all so fancy, all so tidy, all so put-together... and I'm so wrong, broken, weird... Why would she like me like that?
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I was scared that this was all a setup, like some cruel joke where she’d suddenly laugh and say, “Just kidding!”, as if she's about to drop a bucket of blood on my head, like in Carry.
But as much as it terrified me, I wanted to keep going, to take it as far as I could… maybe hoping, just a little, that she’d see something in me worth keeping around...
1st Person POV (reader)
After days of building up the courage, I finally managed to catch Gerard in the hallway. He was walking to his locker, absorbed in a comic book as usual, his dark hair falling perfectly over his eyes. My heart was racing, but I couldn’t back out now. Prom was coming up, and I didn’t want to go with anyone else.
- Hey, Gee! - I said, trying to sound casual, but my voice came out a little too high-pitched.
- Hey! What’s up? - He looked up, smiling when he saw me.
- Um, actually… I was wondering… - I think it was the first time I avoided eye contact with him, scratching the back of my neck. - Would you maybe, I don’t know… want to go to prom with me?
I spoke a little faster than usual, and Gerard’s eyes widened like I’d just spoken in another language. He stood there, staring at me, his mouth opening and closing as if he couldn’t quite believe what he’d heard.
- Wait-what?!
- Prom - I repeated, now feeling my own cheeks burning. - I know it’s not really your thing, but… I’d really love it if you went with me. We could go together, you know, as friends or… whatever you want it to be.
- You’re serious? - He asked, still staring at me in shock. - You… really want to go with me? Like… with me?
- Yeah, Gerard. - I nodded, giving him a small, nervous smile. - I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t want to. It wouldn’t be the same without you there.
- But… What about your friends? - He furrowed his eyebrows, with a concerned look on his eyes - Won’t they… won’t people think it’s weird? I mean, you’re… you know… you. And I’m…
I took a step closer to him, placing my hand on his shoulder, and giving him a thin grin.
- I don’t care what they think, Gerard. - He was looking in my eyes, I can't describe his expression… - I want to go with you. I’d be proud to be seen with you.
- You’re… serious? - His hazel eyes were glowing hopefully.
- Yes. - I nodded again, more certain than ever. - So, what do you say?
- I just… wow. - He panted and I shivered, afraid of him saying no - I really didn’t think you’d ever want… someone like me, at something like this.
- Well, I do. - my anxiety grew with every second he didn't answer - You mean a lot to me, Gee.
He finally smiled, shy and unsure but definitely a smile.
- Okay… okay, yeah. I’ll go with you.
- You will? - I grinned, feeling a surge of relief and excitement.
- Yeah,- he said, nodding as if he was trying to convince himself it was real. - I’d… I’d love to go with you.
I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding, and the disbelief and wonder in his eyes made my heart swell. As I turned to head to my locker, I could feel his eyes on me, and I knew this prom would be something neither of us would ever forget.
1st Person POV (Gerard)
I couldn’t focus on anything else the whole day. My mind keeps replaying the sentence “Would you maybe, I don’t know… want to go to prom with me?” during all the classes. When it finally ended, I rushed to my house to meet the guys who were waiting for me to start our band practice. As soon as i steped int the room, i took a deep breath, and started:
- She… she asked me to prom, - I mumbled, scratching the back of my head, barely able to meet their eyes. - Like, she actually asked me.
The room went silent. Frank dropped his tuning fork, and Ray's eyebrows practically shot off his face.
- Holy shit! - Ray smiled - She really invited you?!
- Yeah, but… what if it’s a joke? - Suddenly, this thought came back to me, and I just couldn't hold it in. - I mean, what if she’s just playing some kind of cruel prank on me? Getting me to go so she can… I dunno… laugh at me with her friends or something?
- You’re being silly, dude… - MMikey said, shaking his head with a grin, trying to reassure me. - She really cares about you, I venture to say that she even likes you.
I shifted uncomfortably, glancing down at my worn-out sneakers.
- I just… I don’t know, man. I don’t want to look like an idiot showing up to prom, looking like… well, like me. - I gestured to my faded band shirt and old jeans. - She’s going to show up all… amazing, and I’ll just… I don’t even have clothes for something like that.
- Hey, don’t worry about your clothes. - Frank said, his hand on my shoulder - We’ll help you figure that part out. We can make a cool Gerard version of prom gear.
- I don’t know, guys… - I let out a doubtful sigh, but I couldn't help but feel a little better at their words. - I still feel like I’m walking into some kinda setup.
- Or… maybe it’s not. Maybe she actually likes you and wants to go with you. - Mikey shook his head.
- I guess… I mean, she did seem pretty genuine. But, man, I can’t mess this up.
When I stopped for a while to process everything, and realized that I was so nervous about the idea of her embarrassing me, I didn't realize that I could embarrass her if I did something wrong.
- We’re going to help you get ready for this prom, no question. - Frank keep encouraging me - This is your shot, and you’re gonna look so good, everyone’s gonna wonder why she got so lucky.
I couldn’t help but crack a shy smile, a tiny spark of hope flickering in my chest at his words. I appreciated how they were all backing me up. Still, the nerves didn’t fade. In fact, now I had to find something to wear... and I had no idea where to start.
But maybe, just maybe, this wouldn’t be a total disaster. Maybe, I thought as I looked at the guys with a nervous but hopeful grin, this might actually turn out to be the best night of my life.
1st Person POV (reader)
The night had finally arrived. My heart was thumping in my chest, and I could feel the butterflies fluttering wildly in my stomach. The dress I had picked out earlier in the week felt a little too tight now, my nerves making everything feel more intense than usual. I couldn't help but glance at the clock, watching the minutes tick by as I waited for Gerard to arrive.
What was I thinking? Was I making a huge mistake? Would he feel out of place at prom? I shook my head, trying to silence my anxious thoughts. I had asked him because I wanted him there. I didn’t care about what everyone else would think, and if he felt out of place, well, I hoped my presence would help him feel comfortable.
Then, finally, the doorbell rang. My heart skipped a beat, and I rushed to open the door, only to freeze for a moment when I saw him standing there.
Gerard looked... different. He was wearing a simple black suit, not too formal but definitely better than what I had imagined. His hair was styled neatly, but it still had that messy, Gerard charm. He looked slightly nervous, his hands shoved in his pockets, but his eyes lit up when he saw me. The nervous smile he gave me made my heart melt a little.
- Hey,- He said softly, shifting awkwardly on his feet.
- Hey, - I replied, suddenly feeling shy too. - You look… you look great.
- I do? - His eyes widened in surprise.
- Yeah, you’re handsome - I nodded, fighting the blush creeping up my neck.
- Thanks... You look… wow. Really beautiful - He scratched the back of his neck, looking down at his shoes as if he was embarrassed by the compliment.
- Are you ready to go?
- Sure!
The ride to prom felt like a blur. We didn't talk much—both of us were too nervous, I think. When we finally arrived, my friends were already waiting near the entrance, their eyes scanning the crowd as they laughed and joked. As soon as they saw me with Gerard, they froze, their expressions shifting in surprise.
- Oh my God, look who finally decided to show up! - one of them teased. - I knew it! You like him, don’t you?
- You’ve been denying it this whole time, but now it’s so obvious - My face immediately turned bright red. I opened my mouth to protest, but she wasn’t finished.
- You’ve been denying it this whole time, but now it’s so obvious. - All of them kinda laughed.
Gerard was standing a little behind me, looking equally embarrassed, his face flushed. I could feel his discomfort radiating off him, and I could tell that these comments were making him more self-conscious. He shifted on his feet, nervously running a hand through his hair.
I held his hand so we could walk inside. But my moves were interrupted by my friends.
- You guys look cute together, though. Admit it, you like him! - another one of them chimed in, her voice teasing, but with a hint of sincerity.
Once inside, we quickly found our seats at a table. The music was blasting, the lights dimmed, and the air was filled with the sound of chatter, laughter, and the occasional loud cheer from some of the other students. I could feel Gerard stiffening beside me, but I just kept my hand on his, hoping to offer some kind of reassurance. He looked around nervously, his wide eyes scanning the room as though he didn’t belong.
- Are you okay - I asked, in an attempt to comfort him.
- I don’t know…-  he mumbled, his voice barely audible over the music. - I mean, I’m glad I’m here with you, but this is… definitely not my scene. You’re the only one who could ever get me to come to a place like this.
I laughed, feeling my heart flutter. I didn’t think he realized just how much that meant to me. The night was already feeling more perfect than I could have ever imagined.
Then, as the slow songs started, the room filled with couples swaying gently to the music. Gerard and I stood there for a moment, unsure of what to do. Finally, he broke the silence.
- I’ve never really done this before… - he said quietly.
- Me neither. - I smiled at him.
And just like that, the awkwardness faded. He pulled me closer, and we started swaying together. He was still a little nervous, but he held me close, and I could feel his warmth, his pulse beating along with mine.
As the song came to a close, Gerard looked down at me, his face flushed. He cleared his throat, trying to hold back his nervousness.
- Thanks for making this the best night ever, - Gerard whispered, his forehead resting against mine.
This… - He hesitated for a second, then smiled shyly - seems like the first time I watched Corpse Bride for the first time… Awesome.
I giggled, then, without saying a word, Gerard leaned down and kissed me. It was soft, gentle, messy, romantic… everything I had imagined and more. He pulled away slowly, his eyes wide with surprise, as if he couldn’t believe he had just done that.
We stood there, not caring about the world around us. It was just the two of us, caught in the moment, and in that instant, everything felt right.
- You're welcome - I whispered back.
Smiling, I move to his lips again. His warm lips felt just right, now his hand came up to my cheek, as I wrapped my arms around his neck. This kiss was more confident, like something we both were sure that we wanted. I swear, I've never thought I would end up with Gerard like this… but there is no other place that I would rather be.

+ When you arrived at Blackmore with the 'Core four', you met Ethan trying to help Chad settle in
+ Let's just say he took a 'quick' liking to you
+ You had always thought he was a cool person and you thought you both had connection with each other
+ You definitely flirted with him a lot
+ He would always be like flustered by what you're saying to him, and you would just laugh and leave him there
+ He would find it frustrating but cute at the same time
+ Then one day, your teeny tiny crush on him slipped out while talking to Tara
"Really, Y/N? The Nerd?""I dunno what it is."
+ And this is when she told Chad, and oh boy he was so happy because Ethan told him the same thing about you
+ Him and Tara worked on this plan for a whole week just for you two to get together
+ You were basically in love with him by the time they started the plan
+ You and Ethan were in the library, and he was explaining Econ to you because you had 'no' idea what you were doing in this class, and you just 'desperately' needed his help iykyk
+ You liked seeing him ramble on about Econ and all this other shit that he was interested in
+ Anyway, Ethan started to notice you were just watching him talk and pointed you out for it
"Do you even need my help?" He teased you, making your cheeks go a dark red.
"Yes, I really do, I just hate Econ."
+ Ethan wasn't buying it
"Let's leave, I don't think your paying much attention to me anyways."
Oh boy you were, just not in the way he wants.
"I am, I promise."
+ Eventually, Ethan started rambling on again and you continued watching him
+ He would totally fiddle with his fingers after figuring out you were watching him
+ This is when Tara and Chad saw you guys sitting and just chatting about Econ
+Chad stole Ethan and Tara stole you
+They both lead you to the same place but in different ways and directions
"Tara, where are we going, I have to go back and study."
"Studying can wait girl."
+ This is when Tara threw you into a closet and locked the door
+ This is when you realized it is a weirdly huge closet
"Chad let me out! This isn't funny bro!" You hear Ethan yell. You slowly walk around to see him banging on another door.
"Ethan..." You mumble, he turns around and looks at you.
"Y/N!" He slowly walks up to you and smiles brightly.
"Did Tara put you in here?" He asks and you nod. "Of course."
+ He notices that you both go set up almost straight away and that surprised you, he usually doesn't notice things straight away
+ The dimly lit closet and his face together to you was bliss
+ You could look at him and get away with it!
+ Not until he decides to break the silence
"Can I tell you something Y/N." He says and you nod. "You've been my friend for like ever, and I couldn't help for me to sometimes...well, fuck... most of the time, want it to be more."
+ You kissed him right then and there
+ Let's just you both had built up feelings
+ You both kissed until Tara and Chad opened up the door and you and Ethan kind of runed out
+ But you didn't rush the time that you had
+ You both down at the table and Tara and Chad kind of didn't matter to you both anymore
+ You both finished up studying and ended up chilling at your apartment
+ You both watched a movie but ended up just talking and or making out
+ You would go to his dorm or vice versa and would watch movies together
+ Baby, Sweetie, Princess and Doll. Those are the type of names he would call you
+ Then the Ghostface killings started
+ You 'knew' he wasn't Ghostface
+ Even though he leave and then dead people will pop on the news the night he left
+ And sometimes the people that have died would be guys that you have talked to the day before
+ But Ethan is sweet and kind and could never hurt a fly
+ You guys would cuddle all the time
+ And he would try to make you feel as safe and comfortable as possible
+ He always made you feel safe and comfortable anyways so the way he was trying to do more was just perfect to you
+ Whenever you guys would fight, he'd leave and then come back with some roses or chocolates
+ One fight he left and didn't come back, and you were starting to get worried
+ Until your phone started to ring
+ You picked it up and you heard a voice you never wanted to hear
"Hey Y/N, I saw your little fight with Ethan." Ghostface says.
"Leave me alone." You half yell, not wanting anyone to hear.
"Come on doll." Ghostface whispers.
"Why the fuck did you just call me that?"
+ Then someone knocks on your door
+ You open it and to your surprise, Ethan, in a Ghostface costume, with blood, lots of it
+ Let's just say the shock you got, you couldn't even process it
"Look, I would never hurt you Y/N, I just need you to understand that this is who I am."
"Yes, But no, what the fuck?" You mumble, he takes more steps to get closer to you and you take more steps back until you're in a corner.
"Come on, Y/N I love you."
+ It took you a while, but you got used to it
NFSW
+ Before you guys started dating, he would steal your underwear and you would have no clue
+ You would look for them and then they would pop up again the next day
+ Whenever you would call him, he would jerk off to your voice, you never noticed this until one time, there was such a clear moan coming from his end of the line
"Y/N." He moans.
"Ethan?" You cough awkwardly
+ He immediately stopped and claimed he was doing nothing and you would just brush it off
+ When you both started dating, he would do things that would turn you on and him at the same time like rubbing your bodies together to form friction
+ He would always make little remarks at your outfits
"Baby, that outfit look's so good on you, I can't wait to eat you out in it later." He winks.
"Come 'ere doll, I want to fuck you, you look so good."
+ But they somehow would always turn you on so much that you didn't even want to go out
+ The group had a joke about the most innocent couple and that was you guys
+ Little did they know that you both were fucking anywhere you could
+ You even fucked on Sam's bed!
+ Until one day you got caught fucking
+ Everyone knew you both were dating but not fucking every chance you had between yourselves
+ Anyway, I see him as a choking, dob but sub if he wants to, knife play type of guy
+ Like, once you knew he was Ghostface, he fucked you in the costume
+ I could also see him carving his itinals under your tits
+ God, any noise you make turns him on so much
+ Even if it is just a tiny whimper or muffled moan
+ But he goes crazy when you moan into his skin, he loves feeling the vibrations and everything
+ He'd fuck you anywhere like I said
+ If he met your parents, he'd totally be a dick and like turn you on by like rubbing his fingers on your inner thigh or just completely fingering you
+ He honestly would love the way you would cough to stop any noise from coming out of your mouth
"Ethan!" You yell whisper, "The fuck are you doing?"
"Y/N, no whispering at the dinner table." Your dad says. "Anything you want to say to Ethan you can say to us."
+ The self-control this man had to have for him not to tell everyone that he was finger fucking you
+ But he knew that you would probably dump him
+ And you never met his parents (Jee, i wonder why?)
+ He would fuck the shit out of you if you pissed him off
"Come on, use that dirty mouth on me now if you have no trouble saying shit like that to me when were in a fight"
+ And he would always make do want he wants (But he'd still make you get there in the end

TF141 Watching a Horror Movie With You 🎃
hi omg this is such a cute concept!! thank you so much for the support, you have no idea how much i appreciate it! i have so many ideas for them with someone who loves horror movies so that’s what this post is about (i hope that’s ok :( ) but i’ll try to write about horror games another time because that’s such a cute concept! i just have lots of ideas for this one rn so i thought i’d do it first female reader, fluff, not proofread <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Simon "Ghost" Riley thinks it’s cute that you love horror movies. He spends half his life in a real-life horror, he’s seen things that you could never imagine. Teasingly calls you a ‘psycho’ for just sitting there happily, cuddled up to him as you watch something absolutely terrifying go down on the screen.
Simon is a pain in the ass to watch certain horror movies with, because if guns or fighting are involved then he will make sure to point out to you exactly what the directors got wrong.
"He’s holding it wrong… if I even… Price’d never let me hear t’end of it," he mumbles, not talking to anyone in particular.
When you cuddle on the sofa, if you’re laying face down on his chest, he loves to keep one hand on your ass. Sometimes, if something does make him jump, he’ll squeeze it out of instinct.
People don’t usually expect it but you’re very good with scary stuff, you rarely ever get spooked out. But sometimes you do, especially if you’re tired and it’s late.
Once, after you’d watched a film, you went to get ready for bed and Simon went ‘to eat something’. Even when you were all changed and ready for bed, he still hadn’t returned, and so - twiddling your fingers together for reassurance - you peeked out into the darkened hallway.
Only for a 6'4" soldier in a skull mask, wielding a cup of tea, to jump out at you from behind.
You screamed, stumbling back in a state of panicked confusion, about to cry out for Simon when you came to your senses and realised that the masked intruder was Simon.
He stood there, laughing his ass off, until he realised that you were obviously very on edge and a little bit teary eyed.
"C’mere…" he sighed, placing down his tea to take you into his arms, "i’m sorry, baby girl, please don’t cry…" Your heart was racing and you were debating whether or not to slap him, but you knew he didn’t mean to upset you. And you were happy so long as he made up for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soap Mactavish claims that he’s not scared of anything. Nooo, no way, he’s not scared. He’s so not scared that he’s looking away and squeezing your hand.
Poor guy is so easily jumpscared, it makes you giggle.
"You sure this i’nt going t’be too scary for you, bonnie?" he coos, placing an arm around your shoulder as he half-watches the film that has plunged into a strange silence. He’s definitely trying (and failing) to be subtle as he flexed his muscular arms a little bit, in an attempt to show off.
"Oh yeah, don’t worry," you nod sweetly, smiling up at him.
"I’m just saying, angel, if you need to bury your head into my chest, or if you can’t look, then that’s okay, you just go ahead and make yourself comfortable. I’m a soldier, I could easily take on any- Shit! Fucking hell!" he jumps, squealing and then clearing his throat in a poor attempt to disguise it.
"You sure this isn’t going to be too scary for you, bonnie baby..?" you tease, kissing his cheek.
"Lay off it," he pouts, blushing a little bit as he nuzzles his face into your hair.
Alsoooo Johnny is a fiend for feeling you up when you’re watching a film together. He sees it as a perfect opportunity to get to know his pretty lass a little bit better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyle "Gaz" Garrick’s favourite part of movie night is the food. He loves takeaway (he’s definitely a Nando’s lover) but his absolute favourite food is your home cooking. When he was asked his favourite food when he was younger, he was always the one kid who would say "whatever my mum makes!" and now he’s an adult it’s just the same, but "whatever my girlfriend makes!" Whenever he realises you’re going to watch a film, whether you invited him or not, he will call out to you from the other room to "HOLD ON!" as he grabs snacks and drinks for the two of you.
Gaz isn’t too easily creeped out, but it happens. He’ll never admit that it’s because he was scared, but you’ve definitely noticed him ‘accidentally leaving the hallway light on. If it wasn’t an ‘accident’, then he obviously did it so that you wouldn’t feel scared in the night. He probably realises that you can see right through him, but you always say you believe him, just to make him feel better.
Kyle’s favourite horror movie series is Paranormal Activity, because it’s a so-bad-it’s-good kind of thing. He loves sitting in bed, eating popcorn, with you in his lap, laughing til you cry at all his jokes about how horrendously made the films are. Once, he was taking the piss out of how bad the film you were watching was and then immediately got jumpscared. He even let out a weird noise in shock - he didn’t hear the end of it for weeks.
Even if he’s not cuddling you as close as possible, Gaz loves to rouch you, usually by holding you with one arm as you rest your head on his shoulder. He is a serial thigh-squeezer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
John Price is a total dad, and that extends to when you can convince him to watch one of your favourite films with you. He wants to watch the movie, it’s not his fault if he falls asleep 15 minutes in every single time.
He lets you lay on his broad chest, that’s warm and rises and fall under your head, while he rests his hands behind his head and closes his eyes. He’s prone to snoring, too - in past, you’ve had to rewind the film because you missed part of it while you were trying to get him to wake up and shut up. The only sureproof way to wake him up is to try and move off of him - he’ll open one eye and grumble at you, as he pulls you right back into him.
"You’re not even watching the film, you’re asleep…" you whine, looking up at him.
"’M watching, love. Shhh," he mumbles, eyes still closed as he softly pats your hair.
"Are not," you pout.
"Shhh. ‘M trying to watch this," he hushes you, eyes closed and totally ready to go back to sleep. You’re almost annoyed at him but he makes that very hard, breathing softly through that moustache as he presses you against him, like you’re a teddy or a weighted blanket.
In terms of the films himself, Price isn’t easily scared (partly helped by the fact that he spends half of the time asleep). The first time that you two watched something scary together, he was almost expecting you to be terrified, but he was pleasantly surprised when you weren’t. He thinks it’s funny how you can sit in his lap perfectly happy and watch something that would have any ‘sensible’ (as he puts it) girl screaming.
He either gets very irritated by the main characters making terrible decisions and getting themselves into trouble, or finds it hilarious. He also loves to rub your feet while you watch the movie, literal princess treatment.

in part two of the cbffs hoshina x reader series, hoshina mentioned reader should write him letters if there are anything reader cant say to his face and i was wondering if we could get like a moment where that happens im thinking uhh since hoshina is pretty important member of the force maybe he gets too busy/ preoccupied/ spending too much time w work and while reader understands this it doesnt mean she doesnt feel lonely sometimes… maybe add a bit of jealousy w hoshina spending alot more time w/ okonogi or whoever/ whatever scenario if thats up to ur liking and reader just gets distant?? and decides to leave a letter to hoshinas table telling how she feels as she cant say what shes feeling to his face
idk theyve been so cute and happy i wanna ruin it EMZ!!! lowkey theres already a number of good jealous hoshina we need more of jealous reader imo. thank uuu!!!
ANON WHY?! Like why ruin a perfectly good thing LOL BUT I GET! 😂 I'm all for fluff, but maybe the reader should go apeshit sometimes. 🤭
This will be the final part of my Radiant Point series, which took on a life of its own after I received so many lovely requests for more parts of it! 💛
My apologies too that this took so long! There's balancing life in real-time. (I just quit my job and am now hunting for a new one lol! 😂)

flare — another side story to radiant point. ✧ refulgence | candor
cw: vice captain soshiro x platoon leader (f) reader, fiancee reader, childhood friends to lovers, jealous + mean reader, no use of 'yn', happy reunions.
Tumblr media
Vice Captain Hoshina Soshiro of the Third Division was perhaps the second most admired person in Tokyo.
Not only that, but perhaps he's also the second most busy person in your division.
You learned about that the hard way one day when you found Soshiro conversing with one of the Operations trainees Konomi assigned to him during low-risk missions while on your way to the Captain's office. You just wrapped up from a mission yourself when you nearly walked in on him and the young but pretty girl. She had a neat look to her person and evidently took everything he said to heart, jotting down notes as he spoke to her about pointers you had no idea about. If you remembered correctly, too, she must be one of Konomi's best and brightest since she had no issue assigning her to the Vice Captain, of all people.
"Well? Did you get all of that, Tateyama? It's a lot to consider, but Okonogi-chan thinks you're capable enough."
"Yes, boss! I-I mean sir!" The Operations trainee, Tateyama, eagerly nodded her assent as she closed her notepad and slipped it back into the pocket of her white coat.
"Do you have any other questions?"
"D-Do you have a girlfriend, Vice Captain?!"
"I'm engaged to Platoon Leader Koganei," Soshiro replied with his usual cheer. "You must not know about it since we've just recently announced it."
"O-Oh, I see! One of our Platoon Leaders…"
"She and I are childhood friends, too."
"Ah! And childhood friends, too!" The younger girl remarked with a look of complete surprise on her face. "How romantic!"
You left them to their conversation after hearing just how harmless it was and decided to pay no thought to it afterwards. A young girl with a silly crush on your fiancé was nothing to feel threatened about. More than anything, it was rather flattering to know just how well-sought-after Soshiro was and that he still chose you out of all the people he could be with.
But then you realised the young girls around him may not be as harmless as you initially thought.
Tumblr media
The young Operations trainees were taking a break from weapons calibrations when you overheard their conversation at the mess hall that afternoon. You didn't mean to, of course. You and Tae were there for a break yourselves, but something in the tone of their voices made you do a double-take.
"I can't believe you actually asked Vice Captain Hoshina if the rumours were true!"
"I-I know! It's too bad that they were. That means he's off-limits," said the girl you recognised as Tateyama from the other day. "B-But that doesn't mean we can't daydream about him a little now, can we? He's just so cool!"
"Exactly! And he's got a cute side, too. Maybe if we show him just how good we are, he might cave in and even consider enterta—"
"Well, that's not a good w— O-Otome-chan?!"
Your fellow Platoon Leader was unable to stop you from marching towards their table, where you unceremoniously slammed down your favourite iced drink.
"P-Platoon Leader K—!" The girls hastily rose to their feet to meet your smiling yet furious gaze. "We—"
"You're… Tateyama, aren't you? The one assigned to the Vice Captain," you said, not even allowing them to speak. "And you are?"
"A-Akabane, ma'am," the other girl stammered.
"My, you must think so little of Vice Captain Hoshina if you think he'll consider entertaining little brats like you," you stated with a wicked grin on your face. "How… funny. I seem to recall the Vice Captain telling you that he was already engaged, Tateyama. But that doesn't bother you at all, does it?"
"I-I…"
"This isn't high school, children. We aren't in the business of stealing other women's boyfriends here. Even more so that he's engaged. We're all about saving lives and subjugating Kaiju here. If you're really as smart as Konomi-chan says you are, you'll know what's more important."
How scary, Tae thought to herself, though she couldn't blame you for reacting that way, too. Then again, these kids are way too brazen!
Tumblr media
Captain Ashiro Mina of the Third Division, a pillar of strength and a beacon of light for the people of Tokyo, has been reduced to matchmaking duties because she's had just about enough.
Because two of her best officers were acting like idiots.
She was supportive of your relationship with Soshiro at first, but now that you were unable to coexist in the same space whenever the Vice Captain was around, she thinks it's borderline ridiculous. You couldn't even deliver reports without glaring at him wherever your eyes met! (And you admit that it's totally unprofessional on your part.) Mina is forgiving, but your situation begs the question now.
Can loving someone really fry your brain that much?
She heard about how you scolded the younger Operations trainees and even had Konomi apologising for their "brazen" behaviour, as Tae also mentioned.
Soshiro's not-so-subtle teasing and flirting aren't helping your case, either. Everyone knew he liked throwing around little endearments, but the way he spoke to you was different— his voice hushed to a whisper and a string of endearments he'd rather not let anyone else hear—and it made sense to the rookies that you were a blubbering mess afterwards.
But they all noticed how you avoided the Vice Captain like he had the plague even though he just whispered yet another light-hearted sweet nothing to you. It was clear to them that you were annoyed, but the way your lips quivered in embarrassment gave you away and you might as well just combust on the spot.
"I'm acting like a fool…"
The final straw was when you were taking your bath late in the night. Mina realised you were purposely avoiding everyone else by volunteering to be the last one to take a bath and mop up the floors. You thought you'd be all alone by then, but you were shell-shocked by the dark silhouette that appeared behind you as you groaned to yourself.
"C-Captain! I-It's late! Wh—"
Your Captain held her belongings in one hand while the other had a finger gun pointed at you. "You need to tell me if you're acting like a fool for a reason."
Tumblr media
Soshiro has had just about enough of your attitude lately.
Your jealous outburst was cute when he first heard about it, but the Operations trainees wanted nothing to do with him anymore after that. And he couldn't have that happening since they had to practise analysing vitals and situations and calibrating weapons with someone. He will have to pass on the task to the Platoon Leaders, but he needed to speak with them— and you.
You avoided him as much as you possibly could and everyone else picked up on it now because no one else spoke up whenever you two were in close proximity, as if they were waiting and anticipating for the two of you to reconcile. You didn't mention anything about leaving Tachikawa, too, since he found out earlier this week that your platoon was assigned under Ryo and Tae in the meantime.
"I gave Koganei an assignment. She's at Ariake," Mina told her Vice Captain as he inquired about your whereabouts. "She… didn't want me to tell you about it."
"Ah, I see," came Soshiro's flat response. "I apologise for draggin' the entire division in our…"
"She'll be back tomorrow. When she arrives, I'll need you two back here in my office to discuss something," she stated. "In the meantime, Hoshina, have you considered organising the files at your office?"
Tumblr media
Letters were among the many things you and Soshiro shared, especially when you went to France to further your fencing skills. For the young man who loved to read and devoured nearly everything that had words on it, your letters to him were always a source of delight. When you were still in France, it took around 10 days for your letters to reach each other, so you always had something new to read almost every week.
He was utterly elated when he found yet even more letters from you addressed to him, though you never sent them his way because of how candid they were. It pleased him to no end to find out that his feelings for you were reciprocated. In your letters, he could trust you to give voice to the very depths of your emotions, even more now after he told you to write to him whenever you wanted to.
On his office desk sat a single letter in your familiar and favourite cream stationery, and it was only then he realised that his Captain's cryptic comment was meant to be a sign of sorts pointing to his most favourite means of communication with you, his most favourite person. The letter sat atop a number of document folders that had to be sorted out, but he'd figure those out later.
Tumblr media
"To Hoshina Soshiro-副隊長,
I suppose I'm still at headquarters by the time you find this letter. I remember you once told me that I could write to you whenever I could, whenever I wanted to, especially if there were things on my mind that I couldn't speak out loud. It's embarrassing having to write something like this, but I feel like I can be honest with you here.
It was only recently that I realised that Vice Captain Hoshina Soshiro of the Third Division is perhaps the second most admired person in Tokyo. I say second because Captain Ashiro is still at the top of the list. Imagine that— your fiancé, one of the most admired persons in the city. The whole of Japan, even, now that I think about it.
You always claimed to be nothing special, but I can confirm with you that it wasn't true at all when I heard those little girls prattling about impressing you. They speak about you like you're some monolith meant to be worshipped… and the worst part is I completely understand them. I, too, look up at you in awe of your silent strength and skill and still hope that you will turn my way— even though I know that your gaze rested solely on me and that your heart is mine, even from long, long ago.
Truth be told, I can't handle the way other women speak about you. And it's beyond my control. You are just so amazing like that— And have you heard the way they talk about your body??? You've been objectified so many times now, I might as well burn down the base—
I know I must have been a brat this past week, but I promise you that my antics end now. Captain Ashiro scolded me in the bathroom sometime last week and told me to sort things out with you. She even said you must hand over my remaining brain cell because I clearly wasn't thinking straight these past few days.
I apologise for being such an insufferable person. I hope we can talk once I return from Ariake. The Captain of the First Division requested a blade master for close-quarters training, so Captain Ashiro sent me, claiming I am the second best Tachikawa can offer. You are, of course, a knife she can't afford to lose.
She also told me to beat up Captain Narumi in her stead, so there is that.
I'll bring back some Mont Blanc from that shop at Jiyugaoka. Let's have them with coffee and tea when I get back.
I love you dearly."
Tumblr media
Soshiro was nothing but happy to see you back at Tachikawa a day later, the box of Mont Blanc you promised him nearly dropped in the process when he welcomed you back with a hug. He didn't let go despite your struggling and urging and whimpering at how embarrassing this was.
How could he let you go when you were holding him just as tight in the first place?
You both had barely set down your salutes when your Captain welcomed you into her office with a simple declaration, an order you couldn't refuse.
"I need you two to go on a vacation for me."

Howzer x fem!S/O | 1.9k words
Content: blind dates, bad first impressions, Howzer has some thoughts and feels to work through, maybe some demi vibes?, no real fluff but I think it's sweet in its own way
Prompt: I came across this concept of a "Meet Ugly" and thought it'd be interesting to explore. Used this scenario: Getting set up on a blind date and not having the best reaction when they first see each other.
Part of Operation #MoreHowzerFics
Tumblr media
He did not have time for this.
Maybe the rest of the galaxy had been duped into thinking the war was over, but Howzer knew better. There was still a fight to be had, and a more dire one at that. A fight for his brothers. Their fates were hanging in the balance... and here he was, sitting at some cafe on Pabu waiting for a date.
He wasn't even sure how it had happened. Rex had insisted there was a reason soldiers took R&R, and even though they technically weren't soldiers anymore they should still try to relax every once in a while. Fireball had taken to saying "you need to get laid" every time Howzer was in an even slightly bad mood. Greer was always going on about how they needed to think of the future, find a dream worth fighting for, like a home or a family. And Gregor was weirdly interested in figuring out what everyone's "type" was; everywhere they went he'd point someone out and gauge their reactions.
All of that somehow had culminated in setting Howzer up on a blind date the second they touched down on Pabu. As if he had time for such things. As if he cared about such things.
And yet... here he was. Wearing his armor and a frown, but he'd still shown up. If he wasn't so busy cursing his brothers in his mind, he could have analyzed why he was here. Or whether he maybe secretly did care about such things.
His leg bounced and his narrowed eyes stared unfeeling out at the planet's glistening waters. He glanced down at his watch every few minutes, growing more upset at how the time passed without this supposedly "cute" date of his showing up. A memory of Echo whispered in the back of his mind, saying something about "Pabu time", how people here didn't need to move with the same urgency he was used to, but he didn't listen to it.
A few people passed by and gave him pleasant smiles. Some entered the patio and gave warm hugs to neighbors they recognized. An elderly couple went up to the counter, leisurely reading the menu as if they had never dined here before. One girl confidently strolled in, at first acting like she knew where she was going, and then halting in the middle of the tables and looking about in confusion. She then tried to cover and got in line to order, as if that had been her plan, even though Howzer had seen the whole thing and knew she had probably absentmindedly gone to the wrong place.
He fought back the urge to roll his eyes at these people. He wasn't really annoyed at them. If anything, he envied their peace. They didn't have family enslaved by the Empire. They didn't have uncertain futures. They were allowed to wander and smile and act a little silly. It's what he would want for his brothers once they were freed. No, he was annoyed because they weren't free. This peace was not theirs. But here he was, sitting in a cafe overlooking a beautiful view and waiting for a date as if he had earned it. How in the galaxy had he let Rex and the others convince him to do this?
Just when he started to entertain the idea of bailing, the girl from earlier caught his eye. She had made it up to the counter now and the worker was pointing over in his direction. Howzer subconsciously shifted, his back straightening and his hand settling on his thigh next to his blaster holster. Usually he'd pretend not to have noticed, let any potential threats think they were catching him unawares while all along he had the upper hand. But here, he decided to send a different message. I am aware, I see you staring, try to mess with me.
The girl followed the path that the worker had pointed her in, right to Howzer. She didn't look like a spy or some other kind of threat, but these days, who really knew. Especially when she seemed determined to appear pleasant and confident, despite the nervous gulp Howzer clocked from across the patio, not to mention the little display of carelessness he had seen from her earlier.
"Hi there," she said when she came within a few feet of his table.
She gave out a breathy laugh and Howzer frowned, waiting to see what she wanted from him.
"Um," she gulped again, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Another nervous tell. What was she hiding? "I uh... Phee told me to meet someone here. For a... a date?"
Howzer's eyes widened in realization. Kriff.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to walk right past you," the girl continued to fill in the silence. "I guess I wasn't expecting, um..."
She trialed off as she realized how the thought was sounding out loud, and then quickly tried to save face by hurrying over to the seat opposite him and pulling it out. But Howzer wasn't going to let her off the hook that easy.
"Weren't expecting... what?" he asked once she sat down. He eased his hand away from his blaster but kept his posture upright. She may not be a threat but he wasn't exactly comfortable.
She exhaled quickly with a sheepish smile. "Well, a clone."
Howzer's eyes returned to their narrowed state, sizing up this girl he found himself sitting across from. She interpreted the silence as offense and immediately started babbling.
"I mean, not that there's anything wrong with that. It's... it's just... You know, you've all just recently started coming here... I mean, I guess I shouldn't be surprised... Of course Phee would set me up with someone I don't know, I know practically every other guy here, and there's a reason I'm not with any of them... And she's been working with clones more recently... But like, I know only a few of you are sticking around for good, so I guess that's why it didn't occur to me that..."
Howzer wasn't sure when he had started zoning out. He felt bad, but also couldn't help it. He didn't have much time for this date to begin with, and certainly no time to listen to a stranger ramble without getting to any sort of point. He was a soldier; he valued conciseness. Whatever suppressed little hope he had that maybe this date wouldn't be so bad after all, maybe he finally would find a romantic connection with someone, dissipated into the saltwater breeze.
He sat forward and the girl stopped spewing her thoughts, eagerly awaiting him to interject and contribute.
"Look, you seem like a nice girl," he lied. He honestly didn't really have an opinion about her one way or the other. He'd been hit on plenty of times back on Ryloth but had never felt anything by it, other than occasional annoyance when it interrupted his duties. "But it seems like we both have some disappoints over this arrangement. Why don't we cut our losses now, get some time back in our days, and part on good terms?"
Now it was her turn to frown.
"You... you're disappointed?"
Howzer was already scooting his chair back to stand. "It's nothing personal against you," he tried to reassure, though even he could hear how impolite it sounded. He hated that he was in such a situation. He should have never come in the first place.
He gave her a formal nod, almost like a salute, and then strode through the patio gate and down quiet, cobbled streets back toward the town square. Each step felt heavier and heavier and he did whatever he could to ignore the guilt twisting in his chest, even trying to look at his surroundings and focus on taking in the architecture and flora and beauty. It was a hollow focus, but he was determined to keep walking, believing he'd soon forget about this awkward encounter and the rude behavior he'd displayed, and things would go back to normal... as normal as they could be in a war.
But then a voice started to cut through to him from behind.
"Sir? Sir!"
He turned in confusion to see the girl jogging toward him. She pulled up a few feet from him, only slightly out of breath.
"Sorry. Um, I don't know your name. Or your rank."
"My rank doesn't matter anymore," he said, immediately regretting how defensive it sounded. He really was a mess today, wasn't he.
"Sure it does," she said with a small smile. "It was an accomplishment, something you should always be proud of."
Without realizing, the tenseness in his shoulders started to loosen. He took in a deep breath and said the first normal thing all day. "My name's Howzer. Captain Howzer."
Her smile grew just a bit more. "It's nice to meet you, Captain Howzer. And... I'm sorry if I came across rude or annoying before. I understand if you don't find me attractive, but I really don't want that to be your impression of me. I really wasn't disappointed to find out you were my date. In fact, I'm disappointed I didn't actually get to have you as a date. But, like I said... it's okay if you're not interested."
Howzer's heart was twisting again. She was a nice girl. Sweet, thoughtful. Still used too many words, but he supposed he didn't use enough sometimes. As far as attraction, he wasn't entirely sure he knew what that felt like, but those bright eyes and soft smile weren't so bad to look at.
"It's not that I'm not interested," he started to say slowly, but then realized he wasn't sure how to finish the thought.
The girl stepped closer. "You're just not ready?"
"Honestly, I don't know if I ever will be ready." He gave a sheepish shrug, though he was starting to feel better. He appreciated that she was helping him sort through these confusing feelings. Her eyes were closer, swimming with the reflection of the sky and what he believed to be genuine care. Before he knew it, he was elaborating. "I mean, do I like the idea of sitting down for coffee with someone and getting to know them? Of course. But to what end? I don't know what the future holds. I don't know if I can be a good friend, let alone... something else."
She nodded in understanding but still offered a different perspective. "To be fair, no one really knows what the future holds. And relationships come in all different forms. There's no one way to be a good friend. Or a good something else."
Howzer's eyes slipped away from hers, pulled toward the glistening sea in the backdrop behind her. He mulled over her words as he watched the waves, nothing but tiny little ripples from this distance. It reminded him of some of the paintings he saw back on Ryloth. He'd always been impressed with artists who could make small details seem real. They were only small strokes on a canvass but they captured a whole entire feeling.
He shook himself, not sure why he was thinking about such a thing right now. The girl was still watching him with a small but knowing smile. She stepped back and returned the nod he'd given her back at the cafe.
"I'm really glad to have met you, Captain. I wish you all the best."
She turned and started walking back the way she'd came. Howzer let her get a few steps before finally calling out.
"Wait. I didn't get your name."
She paused and smiled at him over her shoulder.
"Hope."

"I'll meet you in another life, my love"
Tumblr media
🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍
Sanemi x f!reader| angst/fluff
Plot- The scary and fearful wind hashira ends up meeting a new hashira (the reader) and from the first day he saw her, he fell in love with her and she with him. This love was so strong and so reciprocal that the memories still prevailed in the reincarnated souls.
A/n: I don't know where this idea came from but to be honest I think I ended up being inspired by the scene between Mitsuri and Obanai in the final fight and because of that my eyes are now dry from crying so much😭🥹 Don't worry I'll be writing something happier for him soon😅
Tw: There is a nsfw scene but not fully detailed, suggestive, mentions of violence and death, character death and some little manga spoilers.
🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️🤍🔸️
You were the newly arrived Hashira, the one your comrades were ready to welcome and the one that Master Ubuyashiki would also be happy to welcome and accept into the hashiras meeting.
You were a little nervous because that was your first day as a Hashira and you didn't know exactly how the others there would react. But apparently it was better than you expected.
"It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to the new Hashira who will be joining you from today onwards." The master spoke in his usual calm and formal voice."Y/n, please come and introduce yourself to the others."
You then crossed the wide porch of the house, bowing to the master and the others who were in the garden looking at you.
"My children, this is Y/n. I hope you can collaborate and work together so we can defeat the demons. It's always a pleasure to welcome another person to this place." He smiled at you and you smiled back
"Thank you, master. I am very proud to be here too." You bowed again
Each hashira carried an idea about you and everyone seemed to share good thoughts about you.
Shinobu-"She seems really pleasant. Maybe I can have a chance to talk to her later."
Rengoku-"Her posture is serious and her smile is very kind. It's a pleasure to welcome you, young Y/n."
Tengen-"A flashy and cheerful appearance. And she has nice hips by the way."
Tokito-"She's cool but I'll probably end up forgetting about her soon."
Gyomei-"She has a gentle voice and even without seeing her I can tell that we're going to get along well. I'm going to say a prayer for her."
Tomioka-"Humble and calm. I hope we get along well."
Mitsuri-"Another girl too? She's look so pretty and so cute. I want to be her friend!"
Obanai-"She also seems to be strong. She also has a confident air."
Of all the Hashiras' opinions, Sanemi was the one who didn't want to say a word. After all, he didn't have any. He was speechless.
He thought that feeling was just some idiocy on his part, but with time and the interaction between you two, he realized that it wasn't. And that same feeling only grew bigger and stronger when his eyes met yours by chance during meetings or when you called him to train.
You always approached him without fear, which also caught his attention since everyone was afraid of him. Your kind but very silly attitude, the jokes and provocations where he pretended to be angry with you when deep down he was loving it all.
There was even a day when Obanai caught him looking at you so much that he was even forgetting to blink, and his friend quickly realized what was happening and decided to tease him a little about the subject.
"Is she that pretty?"
"What?" Sanemi turned to him, "coming back to reality"
"You're completely focused on Y/n that you were almost drooling. You like her?" Obanai said, and Sanemi immediately changed his expression to his usual threatening one
"What are talking about? Don't bring Y/n up, and besides, stop seeing things that doesn't exist." Sanemi said, turning his back on his friend
"Oh really? Because I'm sure that you're feeling something for her."
"Oh shut up, why don't you go after Mitsuri? You like her too, don't you?"
"Don't bring her up either, Shinazugawa." Obanai's expression also changed when his beloved was mentioned in the conversation
And so things started like this. Obanai was the first to suspect and later Gyomei himself, who even without seeing, knew about all the tea between you and the wind hashira and he mentioned it to Mitsuri, who went to tell Shinobu and who later also told Tomioka and Rengoku, who also happened to tell his best friend, Tengen. And so everyone started to raise suspicions about a possible relationship between the two of you. But no one dared to confront you or Sanemi about it, limiting themselves to just waiting for something to prove it and then applauding the good news (which everyone already knew but didn't say).
That night, Sanemi decided to go to your house to "check on you." Everything seemed like a normal, casual encounter, but for a few months now, things have been getting tense between the wind hashira and you. Tense in the sense that both eyes were already speaking louder than mouths and the hearts were screaming louder than both minds.
Sanemi was a tough nut to crack. Who would have thought that he would be head over heels in love with you since the first day he saw you? He wanted to have you, he wanted your whole form and essence. Not just physically but to have your whole heart, to love you completely.
And there he was, going to your house knowing that now he would have you once again. Just as he had always wanted. And so had you.
You were getting out of the shower wrapped in a towel when you heard someone knock on the door. You went there with a smile on your face, already knowing who you would find on the other side. You opened the door to see the wind hashira right in front of you.
"Did I come at a bad time?" He looked at you up and down, holding your waist
"You could have at least let me get dressed." You smiled before kiss him, turning around and going to the bedroom to get dress
"You're talking as if I didn't already know what you look like under that towel." He entered the house and closed the door
You heard his words from the bedroom and couldn't help the immediate blush on your face and a certain shiver as you remembered the scenes that had happened inside that room. And in other corners of the house too...
"Where have you gone?" He asked, looking for you
"I'm in the bedroom, just give me five minutes and--" You stopped talking when the bedroom door closed and you realized that you were now both in the same room and that he was now right next to you
You looked up to meet his big eyes that looked scary when he was out of his mind. Of course he tried to make an effort not to seem so scary around you. He liked you and he didn't want to push you away, he wanted to keep you close. Forever.
"Are you going to stay there, cowered in shame? You always seemed so bold when we were alone. What's wrong, princess?" He bent down in front of you, grabbing your face with one hand, squeezing it lightly, and you held onto his wrist
"That's what I ask, my dear. Did you miss me, Shinazugawa?" You gave him a teasing smile
"I've been thinking about doing a lot of things with you since I saw you enter the meeting room, and believe me, you don't want to hear even half of it." He said, his eyes unable to focus on anything other than your eyes and lips
"Your mind is quite creative, I see." You pulled his hand away and brought your lips closer to his, almost touching. "Why don't you do it then? That's why you came here, right?"
Sanemi pulled you into his arms in a sudden movement and kissed you hard, leaving you breathless. Everything about him was breathtaking, by the way.
It didn't take long for his strong hands to rip the towel off your body and throw it aside while his lips devoured yours. Your trembling hands still managed to remove his haori and uniform together and throw them aside with the towel.
The need and hunger to be fed by that love and by his touch was growing inside your chest.
Both of you were now in each other's arms, his hands running over his favorite curves and yours running over the scars of someone who had been through a lot. Each one of them had a story and you knew each one of them.
When you touched them or kissed the scarred skin, he felt loved and this also led him to tell you a little about their origin. Most of them had been the result of his fights against demons. And even the more personal ones that had been left by his mother when she also became one of those creatures, he had told you.
He trusted to tell you everything because he loved you and this was a way for both of you to maintain intimacy. It wasn't just about the nights when you had more than just conversation, it was about the way everything that was done there was done with reciprocal and true feeling.
"Sanemi..." You moan in his ear, arms hugging his body closer and grabbing his hair as his strong hands gripped your hips as you rode him faster
"You really miss me too, don't you? My hands running you, the way I fill you...All of that?" He asked with his hungry lips kissing down your neck and shoulder
"Yeah... I did." You whimpered, pulling his head away from your neck to find his lips again and kiss him roughly
He was not a man of words but of actions and if he had to say that he loved you through actions, he would probably hold you in his arms until he died. He would never abandon you, never run away from you. He would always protect you from the dangers of that world full of nocturnal and deadly enemies. He would train whatever it took to become strong and to keep you safe.
He was rough, stubborn and complicated but his heart was good and he never lied when it came to feelings. He was very honest and direct. Even though he was embarrassed to say many things because he had shyness in his heart that was hidden by his rough and tough personality.
He wasn't ashamed to tell you he loved you, or to grab you by the waist in the hallway of the mansion and take you to your room to take a "short break" from training.
The times when you would sneak out during the day and no one would know your whereabouts, the times when he would look at you suggestively during meetings. Or sometimes when of his hands "accidentally" slip under your skirt when no one was looking and you would blush and hold his hand so he wouldn't do anything stupid in the middle of the meeting. But of course that was only when you weren't in the presence of the master, then he would just exchange looks. Looks where your love was written and your souls met.
But deep down you knew, you knew that playing that game was a risk. A love story like yours could not be lived in that world, not when both of you could die on any mission you were subjected to. There was hope but there was also fear.
You rested your head against his chest as you caught your breath, his fingers tracing imaginary paths on your back, caressing the sweaty skin. He kissed the top of your head and rested his chin there for a moment.
He wanted it to be like this forever and you would also undoubtedly choose him over and over again without thinking. His strong arms were your shield, the place you went to feel safe and warm.
"Nemi?" You called in a low voice
"What?" His eyes went down to where you were
"Don't you want to lie down for a bit?"
"Yes."
The wind hashira lay down on the futon with you on top of him, hugging you tightly. The fingers of one of his hands played with your hair as you looked into his eyes holding one of his hands, caressing it. It was that touch he needed to feel, the gentleness that contrasted with his nature.
"Are you going to keep looking at me like that because you think I'm pretty or is this your way of inviting me to the second round?" He teased and you laughed softly, leaving a kiss on his lips
"You really are an idiot, aren't you, Nemi? No, I was just admiring you, is there a problem with that?"
"None."
"Good." You smiled, kissing him
The long make-out sessions always made him even more eager to have you. He was slowly going crazy with the sweet and soft texture of your lips.
You, on the other hand, had a something to ask him for a few days but hadn't had the chance to do it yet, and before he put you on the futon and got ready for the second round, you reluctantly pulled away from his lips and decided to ask him.
"Can I ask you something?" You whispered
"You're really annoying, you know that, brat?"
"Aren't you going to call me princess now?" You smiled, patting his chest
"Not if you don't shut up."
"Please Nemi, I really need to ask you this."
"Are you going to ask me if I wanna go again? Let's do it then, dear."He raised his eyebrow and you rolled your eyes
"No, it's not about that."
"What is it then ?"
"Nemi, what would be the first thing you would do after we defeat Muzan?" You asked, looking into his eyes, which seemed to have changed expression at that moment
He wanted to answer a lot of things, one of them was to ask you to marry him, run away from there, live with you forever in any place, have children and make you the happiest woman in the world.
He wanted to say so much, but the words wouldn't come out, he couldn't. He was afraid that none of it would come true.
Being a Hashira wasn't for everyone and the worst thing that could happen was to love someone, to get attached to someone, but love is a feeling that no one can control and that's a fact.
Sanemi couldn't help but fall in love with you, he couldn't help but look at you when you when you passed by him and he saw how beautiful you were getting every day, how much he wanted to run away with you. He couldn't help the intensity of his emotions. And as much as you wanted to have him too, to have a future with him, the fear of losing him was always there. Fear of being alone if he died in the battle against Muzan or the upper moons. You would probably never have a day of rest again and you would probably never fall in love again in your life like you fall in love with him.
You also wanted to know more about his feelings towards you, even though he was evasive about the subject.
You had been dating for months but sometimes it seemed like there was still so much to discover about each other. You wanted to know everything about him, you didn't want to lose him without knowing every single thing about him.
"So? You're not going to answer me?" You combed the white strands of hair that were still stuck to his forehead because of the sweat
"I..." Sanemi got a little confused between his words and his thoughts. "I'd probably dance on that idiot's grave, does that sound good to you?"
His joke definitely served to break the tension and get a laugh out of you. He then smiled, seeing you laugh like that but felt bad for having run away from his heart once again.
"Did you really just say that?" You said, still laughing. "You're unbelievable, Sanemi."
"What? Are you going to tell me that you don't want to get together too, after everything he's done? And keeps doing?"
"Well, he destroyed thousands of lives and is still causing a lot of problems, so yeah. I would join you in this dance."
"What about you?" He ran a hand over your face, looking into your eyes. "What would be the first thing you would do after we defeat that son of a bitch?" You felt your heart race when he asked you the same question
The urge to tell him...
The urge to tell him that you wanted him as your husband and as your man until you die.
But the fear was there once again, preventing your feelings from coming out.
"I honestly don't know. I have so many things on my mind that I can't decide."
"Besides being an idiot and annoying, you're also indecisive. What a great wife I got." Sanemi felt his heart race with anxiety after realizing what he had said just now
"Wait a minute, what did you say?" You paused for a moment, processing to see if you had heard correctly
"What?"
"Just now, what did you say? A great what?"
"I didn't say anything." He looked away, trying to change the subject even though he was already burning with blush
"Yes, you did. I heard. Come on, what did you said?"You slapped his chest, insisting
"I said a great girlfriend." He lied
"That's not what I heard."
"Go to sleep." He said, adjusting himself and closing his eyes, and you looked at him, waiting for him to repeat it
"Nemi... Say it again, please." You shook his body, but he was determined to stay silent. "Look, I'm going to sleep in the living room, you hear? And you're going to sleep alone tonight." You threatened, trying to get off of him, but his arm pulled you close and kept you quiet
"Listen here! Just shut up and go to sleep or I'll shut you up some other way, understand?" He put his hand on your lips, and you rolled your eyes, taking off his hand
"What a beautiful husband I got." You murmured, laying on his chest
"What did you say?" He lifted your face looking at you
"Nothing, go to sleep." You repeated his words, and he let out a sigh
You were mad at him for not repeating those words, but deep down you knew that it wasn't by chance, it was his feelings speaking louder and he couldn't control them. You felt a wave of emotions, but deep down you cried with joy, knowing that he also wanted to live the same life. That both of them walked side by side with the same love even if the ways of showing it were different.
*One day before the Hashiras entered the Infinite Castle*
"Sanemi, where are you?" You called out to him in the middle of the tall trees in that forest. "Nemi!" You shouted and suddenly the wind blew stronger, indicating that he was closer.
You then continued walking until you reached a large weeping tree near a river that crossed the forest. There was also a small bridge that led to the other side where there was a ruined gazebo next the large tree.
You crossed the bridge and found your boyfriend sitting on the stones of the small wall of the gazebo and looking at you as you approached. You climbed the small stairs and then he stood up to face you and you smiled at him.
He approached you and pulled you by the waist to kiss you hard as usual. You wrapped your arms around his neck and gave in to that passion. It was just the two of you there.
Crazy in love and far from the world out there...
"Where have you been? I've been calling for you this whole time and I haven't gotten an answer." You said, pulling away from his lips for a moment
"You're too annoying that's why I didn't answer." He bit out before kissing you again, silencing any answer you were going to give
"Nemi." You called him in the middle of the kiss and he pulled away, biting your lower lip
"What?"
"How did you find this place? It's so beautiful."
"I didn't think I'd find this, but I kept walking and I ended up here by chance." He said, looking around."It's a really nice spot."
"It's quiet and very pleasant. I'd give anything to live in a place like this." You hugged him and he hugged you back. "If we make it out of this battlefield alive, I'll definitely live in a place like this. A modest home and a happy marriage..."
Sanemi looked at you and thought about everything you had said. He would definitely give you all of that. The house, the wedding, everything.
"Everything..."
"My dear wife and also, the mother of my children."He thought." My everything."
*Moments after Muzan was killed*
Sanemi was so exhausted and injured that he almost died at that moment. But as soon as he looked around and didn't see you, the anxiety and the need to look for you increased.
"Where is she? Where is Y/n?" He asked himself as he ran in circles, looking for you.
"Y/N!!!" He shouted trying to find your whereabouts
He then found your body, lying on the floor, covered in blood. Deep punctures, open cuts and scratches, tearful eyes, sobs, moans of pain and sadness. You didn't want that to be the end, not without at least seeing Sanemi one last time.
"Y/n!!" He ran to you, kneeling down and taking you in his arms, hugging you and crying like you had never seen him cry before
The crying of a desperate and passionate man. He didn't even have words to describe what he was feeling at that moment he saw you there on the floor, on the verge of death.
"Nemi! You came!" You smiled almost weakly and he pulled you away for a moment to look into your eyes
"Of course I would come, my love. I will always come for you." He spoke nervosly, with words you never thought you would hear. "I'm going to call the paramedics." "No, you don't have to, Sanemi." You grabbed the collar of his uniform and he looked at you. "I've already lost a lot of blood and I can't barely feel my body. I'll just...l'll just use my last bit of strength to tell you something and you'll have to listen to me. Please, just you and me." You begged, feeling the tears running down your face
He felt tied hand and foot, knowing that this was where everything would end and that he couldn't do anything.
"Sanemi, from the first day I saw you, I fell in love. I fell in love even though I knew that this life wouldn't give us a chance to be happy, I never wanted to give up on you I tried hard and fought for your love even though I knew that this could happen. I'm so grateful to have a man like you in my life. You loved me like no other man could love a woman. I love you so, so much." You said whimpering and sobbing and he cried along with you in his arms
"I love you so much too I just wanted to see you happy and protect you. You know, that night I really meant it, I really called you wife that time because I love you and I want you forever, I want to be your man, your husband and make you happy. I want to take you to a calm place like you told me before and live with you. I want you to live, so please..." He took one of your hands and squeezed it, sobbing."don't close your eyes. Don't do this to me."
"So... You really wanted me as your wife... That's good to know." You smiled, bringing your hand to his face to meet his eyes."Your wounds will open if you push yourself too hard." You warned him, watching his blood run down his abdomen
"No, don't worry about me, my dear, it doesn't hurt, it's nothing."He comforted you by hugging you and kissing you several times on your forehead and head."Your husband is strong."
"I know...That's why I love you" You said proudly
Sanemi felt his heart tighten with anxiety more and more when he saw his hands completely covered in your blood due to the deep wounds. No one there could heal you from those wounds, too much blood had already been spilled, many of your bones had been broken, your uniform was torn, covered in blood and dust.
Sanemi looked at you and saw that that image contrasted completely with the beautiful girl with a bright smile he saw on the first day, next to the master. He blamed himself so much for not being able to protect you and now having to watch you die slowly in his arms.
"Love?"
"What?" He looked at you
"Can I ask you one last thing?" You murmured, feeling your last strength
"You can ask me whatever you want, but it won't be the last. You'll live much longer." He said optimistically, with a little hope in his heart
"Nemi...Kiss me one more time. With all your heart." You said, slowly approaching his face, and he nodded
He held your face and kissed you deeply. The tears on your faces mingled, both hearts beating fast, and the eyes closed, which were the windows of the soulmates there, hugging each other.
His lips always carried passion and roughness when he kissed you, but on your deathbed, everything seemed more gentle and pure.
When you pulled away, you caressed his cheeks and sniffed, opening your eyes to find those that did not leave your face for a moment.
"If I reincarnate and meet you in a next life, I will be your wife and I'll carry your children." You promised, holding his hand
"And I promise that I will come to you wherever you are. I will find you in the next life, my love. I will make you mine again, no matter how long it takes to find you." He promised, kissing you once more because he would never get tired of kissing you
You stayed in his lap, your arms hugging him and he hugged your body tightly. All those pain you felt earlier now seemed to be falling asleep after the heat of his body surrounded you.
He cried and cried the whole time he was there with you. That would be the last moment by your side and you yourself admitted that you did not want anyone else there so that you could stay in a quiet place with him. No one could interrupt you two there.
The wind hashira was also feeling weak at that moment, even though he didn't care, the open wounds and bleeding were taking away his strength.
Knowing that he would still have a few more years without you by his side would be painful. His mark would be his death at 25 and he was still 21. he would still have four painful years without you. He wouldn't face his own death in a sad way but rather happy, knowing that he would have to meet you. Looking for his princess in another life.
"Are you still there, princess?"He called out to you
"Forever..."An almost inaudible whisper left your lips to say your last words
"You're going home with me now, okay? I'll take you home safely and you'll live." The tears wouldn't stop flowing as he pretended that everything would be fine again
He put his hand on your chest and felt your stop completely. The wind hashira shook his head in denial, not accepting the death of his beloved.
"No...No...NO." He screamed in frustration and suffering."NOT YOU, PLEASE!!! I've already lost my family, I can't lose you too."Sanemi cried in despair, begging and sobbing
It didn't take long for the kakushis to arrive and come across the scene of him with your dead body in his arms.
Everyone there didn't dare get close to him, some even cried because they also knew you and mourned your death. Sanemi felt his heart being torn into pieces. There was no one left. He had put so much faith that today he would get back together with you to finally asked you in marriage.
The truth is that he ended up doing it, but it wasn't the way he had thought. In his dreams, you lived together. His hand caressed your hair and went down your face, closing the eyelids of your still open eyes.
When one of the members of the Demon Slayer Corps finally decided to get close to separate both of you, he immediately grabbed his wrist and pushed him back.
"Don't touch her." Sanemi threatened and the other immediately moved away. "I'm the one who will take her back. Don't you dare get close to her." Sanemi then stood up with you in his arms
*4 years later*
He remembers the place where you were together for the last time. He decided to bury you in the ground of the weeping tree. He knew you loved that place and so he decided to let your soul rest there after that fateful day. A calm and peaceful place. The same place you wanted to live after that mission was over. He never left you alone, he always visited you every day, he brought you fresh flowers when the others were drying, he brought you incense and he even ate all his meals there so he could be with you.
Sanemi was turning 25. That would be his last day alive and he decided to sit one last time in front of your tent, crying as he looked at the stone
"Today is the day. I'll be looking for you, my brat." He smiled even as he felt the tears flow. "I'll look for you and my brothers. We'll be a family again. There will be no more demons to separate us. And..." He took a small box from his pocket and opened it, revealing the silver ring. "We're going to get married. I was supposed to give it to you on our last night but I didn't have the courage."
He left the ring next to the flowers and lay down on the ground, slowly closing his eyes and feeling his body slowly die. His life ended there, by your side.
*Current life*
You were leaving home that day to go for a walk since it was your day off and you wanted to have some fun. You got ready and left the house.
There was a large garden in front of your house, with a large weeping willow tree in the middle that was really beautiful and many people liked to spend time there. You also liked to spend your time there, reading some book or just to get some air.
You entered the garden but were so distracted that you ended up bumping into another man who was coming from the opposite direction. He ended up grabbing you on impulse so you wouldn't fall to the ground and you clung to him, almost hugging each other.
You looked at him in the eyes and he looked at you, a strange feeling ran through your body. It was as if you had seen him somewhere else.
In another life...
A hazy memory of having kissed a man just like him appeared in your head, but when he spoke to you, you quickly came back to reality, leaving these memories aside.
"Hey! Are you okay?" He asked, looking at you, who was still a little shaken
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine." You said, slowly moving away from him
"You seem a little scared, are you really sure?"
"Yes, thank you for holding me and for worrying." You smiled. "What's your name by the way?" You asked
"Sanemi, and you?"
Another memory appeared in your head of being in the arms of a man where he said,
"I'll meet you in the next life, my love."
"What's happening to me? What are these memories?" You thought, increasingly confused
"Nice to meet you! My name is Y/n." You extended your hand and he shook it
At that moment, the man had a memory where he was hugging a woman just like you and where she said, "If I reincarnate and meet you in the next life, I'll be your wife and I'll carry your children."
Both you and he froze for a split second that seemed like it would never end. A connection so strong that it had once been cut off by an unfair outcome.
But here you two were, meeting as you both had promised in past, although now you could only remember the past as vague memories and strange sensations that you never imagined you would feel.
"Be careful not to bump into anyone else out there." He said and you gave an embarrassed smile
"I'll pay more attention next time. Have a good day." You bowed slightly and left
He looked at you as you walked away, his expression one of confusion and curiosity at the same time.
"Who is that brat? I feel like I've seen her before but I can't remember where." He then went back on the path, still with that idea mulling over in his head

Hey, I just got another idea: Deacon introducing his new girlfriend to his kids over dinner and game night.
But from the point of view from one of the kids (as a little challenge😊)
- 🥰
This is such a cute idea! I wrote it from Lila's perspective (1st person POV) and it was certainly a challenge; I haven't written 1st person in a while. I hope it turned out alright, and thank you for the request and the challenge, I enjoyed writing this! Please let me know what you think and enjoy! :)
Warnings: slight angst, fluff, I imply that Annie is dead but I think you could read it differently. bad writing?
Word Count: 2.2k+ words
EDIT: Part 2 Here
A/N: Writing from Lila's POV was harder than I thought it would be, but I kind of like how it turned out for some reason? Feel free to send feedback or constructive criticism; I admit that this isn't my usual writing style but I'm open to suggestions for improvement!

Dad has been smiling more. Matthew thinks it’s because his friends at work are doing a good job, but I don’t know if that’s it. Sometimes, when Dad gets home after work, he isn’t smiling, but then he looks at his phone and gets all smiley. Maybe Dad likes his new phone. Or he found a new game!
“Hey,” Dad says as he opens my door. “Ready for dinner?”
When we walk together, Dad always holds my hand or carries me. Today, he tosses me over his shoulder and makes me laugh. Whatever it is that makes him happy, he's more like he used to be.
“Before we eat there’s something I need to talk to you about,” Dad says as he puts me in my chair. “So, a few months ago I met a girl.”
I knew it.
“She’s… she’s amazing. We’ve been getting to know each other and doing fun things. But she and I think it would be nice for her to meet you.”
“Are you replacing Mom?” Matthew asks, crossing his arms. (I want to kick him. Can’t he see Dad is happy?)
“Not at all,” Dad says, smiling at Matthew. His face changes as he adds, “If you don’t like her, then nothing else will happen. Okay?”
Matthew nods, but Dad’s smile is gone.
“Dad? Is she like mom?” I ask.
“Kinda. She’s also smart and beautiful, but she’s different.” His smile is back. “She likes different things, she talks differently. But she is going to love you guys.”
“We might not love her,” Matthew grumbles.
Dad takes a funny breath before tapping the table and walking to the kitchen to get dinner.
“Stop being mean,” I tell Matthew.
“He shouldn’t be talking to someone else. She isn’t Mom and I don’t want her around.”
“She’s not replacing Mom,” Samuel says. “Dad said so.”
“Well, he is. If they’re dating and they get married, then she’ll be our stepmom, meaning replacement,” Matthew says meanly.
“Dad said he’d stop seeing her if we wanted,” I remind him. “But we should meet her first. We might like her.”
Matthew rolls his eyes, which makes him look weirder than usual, and nods. I’m excited to meet her because if she makes Dad smile, she must be extra special.
“Here you are, Samuel,” Dad says when he sets Samuel’s plate down. “Matthew, Princess Lila.”
“Hey, why is she a princess but I’m just Samuel?” Samuel pouts.
I laugh at him, and Dad says, “Why am I not King Dad?”
“Wait, can I see a picture of her? What’s her name?” I ask.
Dad tells us her name, and it’s pretty. Then he shows us a picture of her, and she’s as beautiful as her name.
“She looks like a princess!” I say.
“No, she doesn’t. Princesses wear big dresses and crowns,” Matthew argues.
I want to kick him again, but Dad smiles at Matthew and puts his phone away.
✯✯✯✯✯
Matthew and Samuel are in my room with me when she gets here. I watch out the window as Dad opens her car door and squats to talk to her.
“I’m going to meet her,” I tell my brothers.
“Dad will introduce us,” Matthew grumbles.
I don’t listen to him, so I walk down the hall but stop when the door opens.
“What if you’re wrong?” she asks.
Dad closes the door and laughs. “I’m not,” he answers. His voice sounds different, happier.
“They’re going to hate me, David.”
Dad laughs again, and I peek around the corner. His arms are around her, and she’s leaning against him.
“They’re not. Everything will be fine.”
“I just want them, and you, to be happy,” she says quietly. “Even if that doesn’t include me.”
“Hey,” Dad says, the same way he does when I’m sad or after I get hurt. “I want you here. I’m happy with you. And the kids? The kids are going to love you.”
“Even Matthew?”
“Especially Matthew.”
She laughs at that, for some reason, before she steps back from Dad.
“We’ll be right back,” Dad whispers. He steps around the corner and stops when he sees me, shaking his head and smiling. “Go say hi.”
While he goes to my room, I step out and wave at her.
“You must be Lila. You’re even prettier than your dad said,” she says. She’s kind, like Dad said.
“I am Lila. My dad says that you’re smart and beautiful and going to love me and my brothers.”
“Well, he’s right about the last thing.”
“How did you meet my dad?”
“We just ran into each other one day. He was working and I was nearby.”
“Can we be on a team for game night? I haven’t been on an all-girls’ team in a while.”
She smiles, which makes her even prettier, and says she would like that. My brothers come back, and Dad introduces everyone to each other while I sit beside her.
“Why do you like my dad?” Samuel asks.
“He’s really good to me, and for me. I think he’s the best guy I’ve ever met.”
She looks at Dad while she talks, and he smiles at her. I like her. She doesn't treat us like little kids, and I like that.
“Why do you want to replace our Mom?” Matthew asks.
She looks at Dad before she answers. “I don’t, Matthew, I promise I don’t. Your dad has told me about your mom, and she sounds amazing.”
“Then what do you want to do?”
“I want to be with your dad and try to make him happy like he makes me happy.”
“By replacing my mom,” Matthew says as he gets up and walks away.
She looks up at Dad, but they’re not smiling anymore. Dad raises a hand and nods before he follows Matthew. I put my hand in hers, and she looks over at me.
“Do you love my dad?” I ask her.
Her smile returns as she says, “I do. More than anything.”
✯✯✯✯✯
Dad hugs her tightly on the porch before she leaves. I stand beside the window so I can see and hear them.
“If they don’t want me here, I understand. They’re the most important things in your life and they shouldn’t be uncomfortable or upset. I understand if you don’t want me to come back and we can be friends, right?”
“That’s not going to happen. We’ll work through it. Lila loves you.” That’s true. “And Samuel thinks you’re great. Matthew, uh, Matthew just needs some time.”
“I get it. Take all the time you guys need. You’re worth waiting for, Deac.”
They get quiet, and when I look outside again, Dad holds her while they kiss. He pulls back and wipes her face. I think she’s crying.
I decide to help Matthew with his time and walk into his room.
“We need to talk.”
“You always need to talk,” he says.
“Why don’t you like her?”
“You wouldn’t understand, Lila.”
“Who says? You won’t let me try.”
Matthew sighs and rolls away from his comic book to look at me.
“No matter what they say, even if she isn’t a replacement, she’ll end up in Mom’s spot. And I don’t want that.”
“Why not? She’s nice and she loves Dad and he loves her.”
“What are we doing?” Samuel asks as he comes in and sits beside Matthew.
“Talking about Dad’s girlfriend. Matthew doesn’t like her,” I answer.
“She’s nice, and super fun,” Samuel says. I nod and look back at Matthew.
“I never said I didn’t like her,” Matthew says quietly. “I just don’t want her to replace Mom.”
“She can’t replace Mom. They’re so different. It would be like another Mom, not a new one.”
“She even said that she can’t replace Mom and wouldn’t try to. She wants to make Dad happy, which involves us being happy,” Samuel explains. Matthew and I look at him, confused by his wording. “That’s what she told me,” he adds.
“So, you do like her?” I ask.
“I do,” Matthew says quietly. “I’m just scared.”
“There’s nothing to be scared about. Dad loves us and would never do anything without telling us or making sure we’re okay. That’s why he brought her to meet us. You should give her a chance.”
Matthew nods and stands up. “Let’s go talk to Dad.”
We walk together to the kitchen, where Dad cleans up after dinner and game night.
“Dad, can we talk?” Matthew asks.
Dad dries his hands as he nods and waves his hand toward the couch. When we all sit down, he sits on the table in front of us.
“What’s going on?” he asks.
I look at Matthew because I know he’ll answer the question. “We like her,” he admits, “and I’m sorry for being mean.”
“It’s okay, bud. This is a big change and you’re allowed to have questions and need time to think,” Dad says, putting a hand on Matthew’s leg.
“Is she coming for game night again?” Samuel asks. “Because I want to be on her team this time.”
“No, I do, she’s good,” Matthew argues.
Dad laughs and pats their knees. “If you want, she’ll come for two game nights so you can take turns.”
We nod together, and Dad smiles. She said she wants to make Dad happy, but I think she already is.
“Thank you for meeting her and being open to new things, guys. It was very grown up of you.”
“I didn’t get to tell her she looks like I princess,” I remember.
“You can tell her next time, munchkin. Maybe she’ll even play dress up with you… if you ask really, really nicely.”
That sounds amazing. I can’t wait to see her again. Maybe getting a new mom could be even better than I thought.
✯✯✯✯✯
I can hear Dad talking after he tucks me in. Dad says her name, so I must check if she’s back so soon. Creeping down the hallway, I realize I can only hear Dad.
“I told you Matthew would like you. He just needed to figure out that you’re not trying to replace Annie,” Dad says. “They really, really like you; they want you to come back for game night so you can be on Samuel and Matthew’s team next time.”
He’s quiet for a while before he asks, “Are you crying?” And then, “Are you sure? Because even when you said no it sounded like you were.”
Dad laughs like he used to, but a little different. I guess that’s how the whole thing works: he’s happy but differently than before because you’re different, and now he’s different.
“I told you they’d love you,” Dad says, “just like I do.”
They really do love each other. Dad made a good choice, and we did too.
✯✯✯✯✯
It’s finally game night again, and Dad and Matthew have decided to treat it like a “do over,” so they’re acting like they haven’t met her before. I think that’s funny, but I’m glad that she’s coming back either way. I’m by the window watching for her while Dad and Matthew set up the board game.
“She’s here!” I tell Dad.
He thanks me and then walks to the door. Matthew follows him, and I turn to watch. Dad opens the door and smiles.
“Hey,” he greets, a weird tone he only uses for her breaking through. “This is Matthew.”
Matthew shakes her hand, and they smile at each other.
“Nice to meet you,” Matthew says. “Sorry about before.”
“No apology necessary, Matthew. It’s very nice to meet you, too. Your dad has told me lots of good things about you.”
“Really? Like what?”
“He said you’re really good at tonight’s game. So, I was wondering if you’d want to be on my team? I need a lot of help.”
“Sure!”
Matthew leads her to the table where the game is and shows her where he’s sitting. Dad looks at me and winks.
“Dinner first, Matthew,” he says as he walks by. He drags his hand across her back as he passes her. He never did that with Mom, but she isn’t Mom.
“Will you be on my team next time? I get to choose the game next week,” Samuel tells her.
“I’d love to!”
While we eat dinner, she answers our questions and asks us some too. She tells us about where she’s from, her job, her favorite food, and (my question) who her favorite princess is.
“Who is your favorite princess, Lila?” she asks.
Dad smiles at her every time she asks us a question. By dessert, it feels like we’ve known her forever. She agrees to come over just to hang out with me, and I feel great; I stick my tongue out at Samuel, and he laughs at me.
“You take the first turn and I’ll watch,” she whispers to Matthew when we start playing his favorite game.
She watches him and asks him a few questions, then watches Dad as he takes his turn.
“Hey, when do I get to be on your team?” she asks Dad, smiling at him.
“You’re always on my team,” he answers, winking at her.
“Gross,” Matthew whispers.
His eyes widen, and he apologizes quickly before she and Dad start laughing. She tells him it’s okay and asks for his help with her turn. When she’s not talking to us, she looks at Dad.
As he walks her to her car, he kisses her, and spins her around. She’s always been pretty like a princess, but Dad loves her enough to treat her like one, too.
