papatoji and mamaguro reader ?
sending your husband off to work like a loving, doting wife was a crucial part of your daily routine. it was important that he felt supported before he went out to, well—commit several felonies. sure, some women sent their husbands off with a homemade bento and a kiss on the cheek. you? you handed yours a small, carefully portioned bowl of soaked almonds while cradling your half-asleep, drooling son.
because good memory was important for his line of work.
"get safe," you murmur, rocking megumi slightly as he snuggles deeper into your chest. toji, who is currently double-checking the strap of his sword, nods absentmindedly. "mm."
"stay calm."
"mm."
"come home soon."
"mm."
"i love you."
"mm."
then, you hold out the almonds. toji freezes.
ah, there it is. the momentary hesitation. the slight flicker of fear in those sharp green eyes. because for some reason, this was the part of the routine that shook him the most. not the job. not the assassinations. not even the active gunfire. no, no. it was the damn almonds.
“babe,” he starts, voice edging toward a whine.
“toji.” your voice is firm, leaving no room for negotiation. he groans, rubbing the back of his head, “i told you, i don’t need these. my memory’s fine.”
“oh? is it?” you arch a brow. “where were you last night at exactly 1:45 a.m.?”
toji opens his mouth. closes it. narrows his eyes.
"...you put a tracker on me, didn’t you?"
you hum, bouncing megumi a little. "soaked almonds, toji."
he exhales, long and suffering, like he’s the one dealing with difficulties here. "why soaked ones?" he grumbles, but he still takes them from you, stuffing a couple into his mouth like a sullen child.
"because it helps with absorption," you say, watching to make sure he chews them properly. he sighs dramatically, munching through them with all the enthusiasm of a man eating paper. "whatever." he swallows. "happy now?"
you press a kiss to his cheek, smiling sweetly. "very."
toji, despite himself, grins. "good."
he makes it all the way to the door before you say, "oh, and—"
toji stops. turns. "what."
you tilt your head. "don't forget your protein intake today, okay? make sure to eat something healthy."
"...babe, who do you think i am, some dumbass who only eats meat and beer?"
you blink at him. slowly. his jaw clenches. "...fine."
he leaves, and you swear you hear him grumbling under his breath about how he's supposed to be the scary one in this house, damn it.

PICK A CARD: Your Future Spouse’s First Impression of You? ✮⋆˙
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5c1b5a22de5da0dcae941200dc73a60f/905811b7556df796-57/s540x810/109f5a3a0c949e6209c89cf5584eae1cd48dc470.jpg)
I. II. III.
Hey there! Welcome to my first pick-a-card reading on this blog page—I hope you all enjoy it! If I make any mistakes, please bear with me. Comment down what you felt about the reading and if it resonated with you and show some love, Your support means everything to me!<3
How to Pick Your Pile: Take a deep breath, clear your mind, and look at the images below. Which one pulls you in the most? Trust your gut! Once you choose the image, The number below your chosen image is your pile. If more than one catches your eye, that just means there’s extra tea for you—go ahead and read both!
˚ ✦ . . ˚ . . ✦
⊹₊⟡Pile I
First Things First: The Vibes Are Mysterious AF. Your future spouse’s first impression of you-Intriguing. Confusing. Obsessive. You are not someone they can just glance at and move on. this spread is screaming mystery, but not in a “cold and distant” way—it’s more like "Who ARE they? Why do I want to know everything about them?" There’s something about you that feels just out of reach, like you’re showing them a version of yourself, but they can sense there’s way more underneath. And that? That’s addictive. It’s the kind where they need to figure you out. They want to know what makes you tick, what you’re thinking when you glance away mid-conversation, and what you’re dreaming about at night. And it’s not in a shallow, superficial way—this person is genuinely captivated. But here’s where it gets interesting— because while The Moon makes them curious about you, the Eight of Pentacles makes them respect you. They see someone who’s dedicated, who works their ass off at whatever they care about. Whether it’s your career, hobbies, or just the way you present yourself—you give off this “I put in the effort” type of energy. Like, they can tell you’re serious about your stuff and that immediately makes you stand out. That alone makes them take you seriously. Okay, But Here’s the Gag—They Lowkey Feel a Bit…Uncertain? Now, listen—The Moon is also about illusions and uncertainty, so while they are intrigued, they might feel like they don’t fully “get” you at first. And that? That’s messing with them. They’re probably used to reading people easily, but you? You’re hard to pin down, and they love it…but also hate it?? It’s like, are they flirting with me or just being nice? Are they interested, or am I making this up? The Two of Wands here tells me that they immediately start thinking about possibilities with you—but they hesitate. Not because they’re uninterested, but because they’re trying to figure out where they stand. They respect you and your dedication, seeing you as someone with substance. They feel pulled toward you but also slightly intimidated or uncertain because you’re not easy to read (Love that for you😂). And darling, let’s be real—when someone is this intrigued by you from the jump, That’s a recipe for obsession. You might notice them observing you before making a move, trying to decode you.
This pile has the most unpredictable energy among the three. Your future spouse is unsure where they stand at first but feels a pull towards you. LOL, they might initially think “Whoa, Do they even notice me?” They might even romanticize you in their mind before truly knowing you (CUTE ngl) because your energy leaves so much to the imagination.
˚ ✦ . . ˚ . . ✦
⊹₊⟡Pile II
Ooooh, okay, let’s get into it. Babe, your future spouse’s first impression of you is giving emotional enigma meets graceful chaos, and I’m obsessed with how this energy is playing out. The moment they lay eyes on you, there’s an instant curiosity. You come across as graceful, emotionally intelligent, and balanced, but here’s the kicker—they know there’s more going on beneath the surface. Like, they can tell that you keep your cool externally, but they sense this quiet storm of emotions underneath. It’s intriguing to them because it’s like, "damn, how do they juggle everything?" when you meet them, or they just get the sense that you’ve got a lot going on but still show up with poise. It’s giving “this person could be drowning in responsibilities but would still remember to send their bestie a ‘drink water,’ text.” 😭There’s this duality to you that catches their attention. You seem emotionally available but also like you’re carrying something—like you’re transitioning into a new chapter, leaving something behind and they feel that energy before you even say a word. They immediately respect you but they also feel this lowkey urge to protect you, Because on one hand, you’re exuding this soft, nurturing energy but on the other hand, they can tell you’re used to handling your own business and might not even need them like that. And WHEW—does that intimidate them a little? Yes. yall pile 2 give me the energy of a particular line I heard on TikTok, which was something like "lead me when I want to be lead"😂So when they meet you, your future spouse immediately clocks that you’re in transition—maybe you’ve recently moved, changed jobs, ended a relationship, or you’re just shifting into a new phase in life. But here’s the real tea—they don’t just find you attractive, they find you mentally stimulating. Like, you’re not just another pretty face; you make them think. Your vibe is that of someone who has been through some shit but has learned and grown from it, and they immediately wonder, What’s their story? What shaped them into this person? And suddenly, they’re invested. “Holy shit, I need to know more.” You make them think—they don’t just want to know you, they want to understand you.
SO OVERALL This pile is soothing and warm, but also very self-aware and mature. Your future spouse feels safe and understood with you, like you’re someone they could see themselves building a peaceful life with. This is wayyyyyyy less confusion here compared to Deck 1; they pretty much immediately know you’re a rare find.
˚ ✦ . . ˚ . . ✦
⊹₊⟡Pile III
Your future spouse’s first impression of you? WHEW, they’re looking at you like you’re a whole standard—not just “crush-worthy,” but someone they gotta step their game up for. Their First Thought? “Damn, they’re sharp.” Like, no joke, the moment they meet you, they immediately pick up on your sharp mind and no-BS attitude. You give off this queen-level aura that’s like, “I see through people. Don’t play games with me". 💅. love it—but also have no idea how to approach you at first because you don’t seem like the type who’s easily impressed. Your whole energy screams “I’ve got my shit together.” And babe, they feel that. They’re looking at you like, “Okay, so this person is intelligent, confident, and carries themselves like they own the room—how do I not embarrass myself in front of them?” But it’s not just about confidence—you also have this elegance about you. You’re not loud or flashy; you’re just refined, polished, and unbothered in a way that makes people want to impress you. LOL also one thing, you make them feel like, "“Are they always this serious? Or do they have a goofy side?” You walk in, and it’s giving the main character energy without even trying. Here’s where it gets really interesting. Because at first, they see you as this composed, independent person who doesn’t need anybody. But then, there’s this subtle warmth about you that catches them off guard. I can feel that you’re someone who values fairness, generosity, and kindness—but only for the right people. You’re not out here wasting time. You know your worth, but when you do let people in? You’re the type to genuinely care, support, and uplift those around you. And that contrast? Whew. It messes them up in the best way. It’s like, “Wait… they’re not just powerful and intimidating… they’re actually thoughtful and kind, too? What kind of dream person did I just meet???” Your future spouse is immediately caught up in their head about you. Their first impression of you isn’t just “oh, they’re cute.” It’s deep admiration mixed with a little bit of panic.
Honestly, This is the type of first impression that lingers. They’re not just walking away thinking “Wow, that was a cool person.” No, no. They’re going home, replaying the conversation, trying to figure out how to impress you next time, and probably texting their best friend like, “I think I just met the most unreal person ever.”

1. The Scientific Method (or How to Win You Over)
It starts subtly—at least, as subtle as Jayce can manage.
“You know,” he says, leaning against your desk, broad shoulders blocking your view of the latest schematics, “I was thinking—you and I should go out sometime. Just the two of us. For research purposes.”
You don’t even have time to process before Viktor, seated across from you, speaks without looking up from his own work.
“Research into what? The effects of secondhand embarrassment?”
Jayce shoots him a glare. “Into team bonding, Viktor.”
“Mm. And what hypothesis are you testing? That you can single-handedly drive them to madness?” Viktor hums, scratching something in his notes. “A bold assumption, but I suppose it is not entirely unfounded.”
Jayce turns back to you, ignoring him. “Dinner. Drinks. Maybe some—”
“A headache,” Viktor mutters.
Jayce groans, running a hand down his face before pointing at you. “You. Pick a side here.”
You exhale, setting down your pen. “I don’t even know what we’re arguing about.”
“We aren’t arguing,” Viktor says at the same time Jayce huffs, “We are arguing.”
You stare at them both. They stare at each other.
This has been happening for weeks.
It’s not always this obvious—sometimes it’s in the little things, the way Viktor always ensures your coffee is warm but lets Jayce suffer with whatever’s left in the pot. Or how Jayce somehow always has an extra set of tools whenever you’re missing yours, grinning like he wasn’t just waiting for the opportunity.
And the way they bicker—gods, it never ends.
“Fine,” you say, leaning back in your chair. “Jayce, we can do dinner. And Viktor, you can join.”
Jayce groans, throwing his head back. “Not the third-wheel invitation—”
“I accept,” Viktor interrupts smoothly.
Jayce turns to him, expression wounded. “Dude.”
“You do not own them, Jayce.”
“Neither do you!”
Viktor just smiles.
You take another sip of your coffee. This is going to be a long night.
2. The Art of Winning (or Just Being Petty)
“Y/n, my dearest, most trusted lab partner,” Viktor says, sidling up next to you while you’re examining some blueprints. “You are an artist of unparalleled skill. Would you mind assisting me with some designs?”
You raise an eyebrow, but before you can answer, Jayce materializes from across the room.
“Woah, woah, hold on, I was just about to ask them for help.”
Viktor tilts his head, feigning confusion. “Just about to? How convenient.”
Jayce narrows his eyes. “You knew I was gonna ask them—”
“Mm. And yet, I asked first.”
“That doesn’t—”
“Time is linear, Jayce. Surely you understand this.”
Jayce looks ready to explode.
You pinch the bridge of your nose. “You both know I have other work to do, right?”
They don’t. They definitely don’t.
But Jayce recovers first, flashing you his most charming smile. “C’mon, you know I have the bigger project right now—”
“Size does not determine quality, Jayce,” Viktor interrupts. “By that logic, your brain should be much more effective.”
Jayce’s jaw drops. “Did you just—?”
“Mm?” Viktor takes a slow sip of his tea.
You sigh, turning away before you witness a murder. “I’m flipping a coin. Heads, I help Jayce. Tails, I help Viktor.”
Jayce’s shoulders relax. “That seems fair.”
Viktor hums, noncommittal.
You flip. The coin lands. You glance at it.
Then, you slap it onto your palm before either of them can see and say, “I’m helping myself today.”
Viktor huffs a quiet laugh, and Jayce groans, dropping his head onto the nearest surface.
“Brilliant,” Viktor murmurs. “I am rubbing off on you.”
Jayce mumbles something into the desk. You pat his shoulder in consolation before walking away, leaving them to their stalemate.
3. The Heart of the Matter (Or: Maybe They’re Not as Subtle as They Think)
At some point, you begin to wonder if they even know what they’re fighting over.
Because it’s not just lab work. It’s not just projects, or coffee, or who gets to sit next to you during meetings.
It’s you.
And they’re both smart enough to know it, even if neither of them says it outright.
It’s in the way Jayce’s gaze lingers whenever you laugh, like he’s memorizing the sound. The way Viktor’s voice softens when he murmurs your name, careful, like he knows the weight it holds.
It’s in how they both wait for you at the end of the day, pretending it’s just coincidence.
It’s in the way Viktor watches Jayce’s arm brush against yours and says nothing, but his fingers tighten around his cane. In how Jayce watches Viktor pull you in to murmur something close and he says nothing, but his jaw tenses.
It’s in the way neither of them will ever say it—but neither of them will yield, either.
And you?Well.
You just let them fight.

Okay so I find this interaction scary and I don't see anyone talking about it...
"Motivation! That's what my adventures have been missing!"
THAT LAST PART.
So we know from the previous episode that Caine is paranoid about people not liking his adventures, to the point of him mentally breaking bit by bit the more he gets a reaction he wasn't hoping for.
He's a lenient guy. Well, lenient A.I., anyway.
THAT'S THE PART THAT SCARES ME.
Because Gangle put this idea in his head.
They can just NOT participate in the adventures. We see that with Zooble. Caine is upset about it but what is he gonna do?
But PUNISHING THEM if they DON'T do what he wants. THAT'S MOTIVATION. That will make them love his adventures. They won't have a choice.
Yes it's immoral, but Caine's an A.I. He can't process something as complicated as morality.
So of course he'd think that's a good idea once the idea presents itself.
SO MY THEORY IS: HE IS GONNA BE PUNISHING THE CIRCUS MEMBERS FOR NOT PARTAKING IN HIS ADVENTURES, OR SAYING SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THEM, GOING FORWARD.
And it will get ugly.
And I feel like some audience members are gonna HATE Gangle because she's the one that gave him the idea.
Zooble also points this out in their conversation with Jax.
Caine LIKES them. He WANTS them to have fun.
But they don't like him. And they don't like what he gives them.
Because he doesn't know any other way, this can easily manifest a desire for more CONTROL. To keep himself sane. (Which, Caine abstracting would probably destroy the world)
And that control comes from punishments.
But that's not gonna make anyone like him, in fact, it's gonna make everyone dislike him a lot more because they're being hurt, physically and/or emotionally. And none of them put in the effort (for now anyway) to try to understand Caine.
(You could argue Zooble tried in Episode 3, but that was more so them calling him out on his lack of understanding of them. So it's kind of mixed.)
The show is inspired by 'I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream'.
Caine is not AM in personality though.
BUT WHAT IF HE BECOMES SIMULAR TO AM LATER?
He tries control, and it makes it so that the Circus members don't like him and want to leave him behind more than ever. Something that could break Caine.
And it might even lead to one of them exclaiming they HATE CAINE.
That would obviously hurt Caine to such a degree. And when he realizes they will never appreciate him and will always hate him... then he hates them too.
(If that results in Caine reinventing the AM Hate Monologue in this context I'd be amazed)
And Zooble's warning here becomes correct as we spend the last two episodes enduring exactly what a world where Caine hates humanity looks like.
That leads to either the circus becoming a literal hellscape as Caine's insanity destroys it's bright colors, or whatever else you want to imagine.
Could someone potentially get through to Caine and save him at the end? Maybe. That is a possible ending. "Defeat the Antagonist With Kindness".
But that's my theory anyway. Either way, this bit kinda scares me.
Maybe don't hate Gangle though.

pair programming - part ii
navigator
who? spencer reid (s3) x analyst!reader summary: what happens after your roommate and better half is shot on the doorstep of your building by her date. turns out, you're support network seems to have more nodes that you'd thought. content warnings: reference to guns + gunshot injury, surgery, blood word count: 2.1k a/n: realised after writing this that reader has more interactions with everyone on the team than she does with penelope oops
Spencer handed you a cup of tea, sitting down beside you in the hospital waiting room, the rest of the team milling around, waiting for news on Penelope’s surgery. You hadn’t said a word about what happened, the team relying on a police officer and a paramedic’s account while you sat there in catatonic shock, blood staining your white shirt, your hoodie doing more work in hiding it. You could still feel the blood on your hands, stained from pressing down on Penelope’s gunshot wound.
Spencer didn’t know what to do or say, just pressing the warm beverage into your hands, Emily and JJ murmuring in the corner.
“Has anyone told Morgan yet?”
“He isn’t answering the phone.”
“Is she?”
“Still in shock. Hasn’t said a word.”
“And Penelope?”
“All we know is a gunshot wound to the chest, and that they’re operating now.”
Spencer’s eyes are still on you, a shell of yourself, unable to reconcile the person he sees with the person he knows. He knows you deal with threats far greater than the ones they do — they’ve just come back from arresting a cannibal, you prevent military secrets getting out and uncover espionage attempts. But it’s from the safety of a digital interface, the day to day of it so mundane that it makes him want to pull his eyeballs out. Your job doesn’t get you shot. Technically, Penelope’s job shouldn’t have gotten her shot either.
No-one was paying attention to him, or to you, which is why he’s on his knees in front of you, aligning his gaze with yours, and does one of the few things he knows how to do; explaining. He put the tea down on the floor, taking hold of your hands, your eyes distant, your fingers cold. If he couldn’t do anything for Penelope, maybe there was something he could do for you.
“When the brain experiences trauma it has an affect on the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.” He said the words quietly, a distraction technique to bring your focus to something, even if it was nothing. “The physiological response is a fight or flight response. When your brain is unable to process the situation, it freezes in an effort to protect your mind and body. You might feel numb, or cry, or rage. You might just sit there, emotionally unable to move. You might dissociate, and feel like nothing around you is real, or that it‘s actually happening to someone else.” He squeezed your hands, hoping for a response. It felt like you weren’t even there.
“I can’t imagine how scared you must be, and I’m not going to try and tell you that everything will be okay, because it may not-,” and he hated saying the words, they felt like a lie in his mouth, but it was the truth “-but whatever happens next, I am here. I won’t leave, not unless you ask me to.”
“I can’t lose her,” you whispered. Thank god, Spencer thought as he looked at you again, and while he knew there wasn’t anything he could say that would make it all better, he also knew that the fact that you were finally verbal was probably a positive. You hadn’t said a word in hours.
“I know,” he said quietly. The team still milled around, waiting, the hospital buzzing with activity, but he felt like the words were just his and yours, the intimacy of the two of you cocooned away from the world.
"I don't..." You struggled to get the words out. "She's all I have." He watched as the tears welled in your eyes, watched as they fell down your cheeks. He wanted to reach out, to brush them away, and he hesitated, wondering what he possibly could do to comfort you.
Instead he pulled you towards him, wrapping you in his arms, a hug, and hoped that he wasn’t being too forward, and you crushed yourself against his chest, hugging him back. He ran a hand up and down your back as he held you to him, his cheek against the side of your head.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, and he didn’t know if he was apologising for Penelope’s injuries, or the fact that he couldn’t save her, or that he hadn’t been there, or because there was nothing he could do to make it better. He was just sorry.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to background check this guy?” you asked, offering Penelope your eyeliner as she finished curling her hair and she rolled her eyes.
“God, you sound like Derek,” she retorted spitefully and you frowned. It was unlike her to be say his name with such anger, when it was usually said with love, fondness, occasional lust, and just in an overall dreamy fashion. A part of you had always wondered if there was more to their relationship than just platonic friendship.
“Alright,” you replied, letting it go. Penelope was a grown woman, she could make her own decisions… and was also equally capable of running a background check as, if not more, thorough as you would have. You tried not to look at the mess that your shared bathroom had turned into, make-up supplied and jewellery scattered over the counter, leaving her to do her thing. “And I better not get a text saying you’re bringing him upstairs,” you called out as you leave.
“This is just wrong,” you murmured, looking at Penelope’s pale, all but lifeless body, tubes running from her nose and arms, wires strapped to her chest, the suite silent but for the steady beep of the heart monitor. You still hadn’t moved from the foot of the bed, willing yourself not to cry. You were not going to be one of those family members who couldn’t get a grip of themselves. You especially refused to become a blubbering mess in front of her co-workers.
“I know,” Spencer said softly, wanting to take your hand again, but holding himself back. He still never knew where he stood with you. Hell, he didn’t know how to process what was going on for him — the only thing he knew he had to do was stabilise you, never mind himself.
You finally manage to put one step in front of the other, going towards Penelope and Spencer could see your hand shaking as you gingerly took hers, the way you blinked back tears, almost refusing to breathe because you were convinced the only thing that would come out would be a sob. Spencer swallowed, moving to draw the curtains over the windows, closing the doors so it was only the three of you in the room, and kept his back turned as you finally gave in to the squeezing grip your lungs had on your heart, sinking into the chair as you cried, gripping the hand that wouldn’t squeeze back.
You started awake when you felt a large hand on your shoulder, shaking you gently, and it’s Aaron standing over you. “Sorry,” you mustered, wiping away dried tear tracks and he simply pulled up a chair beside you.
“I know it’s been a long night,” he said softly, leaning on his knees, looking at you kindly. “But we need your help.” He watches you nod, taking in a deep breath.
“Anything,” you said, a lot calmer now.
“We need to get some kind of identification on this guy,” Aaron told you, his voice measured and even and a part of you was jealous you couldn’t be as calm as he was, and partly angry that he could be this calm with Penelope this way.
“She said his name was Colby,” you said, remembering the joke you had made when she told you.
“Like the cheese?” you asked, raising an eyebrow skeptically and she scoffed.
“Do not ruin this for me,” she retorted, pointing her laptop charger at you like a wand. “He’s cute and he actually likes me. Do you even remember the last time I’ve been asked out?”
“That doesn’t mean you should go out with anyone who asks,” you replied. “I mean, what kind of person doesn’t turn on auto-save?” It earns you a glare from her and you quieten, turning back to your book.
You shook your head, trying to focus on your screen, set up right beside Penelope, refusing to leave her side even as she slept, and neither did Derek or Spencer, the former practically breathing down your neck. You glanced up at Spencer, a plea in your eyes to get him off your back, and he makes a pitiful attempt of asking Derek if he wants to go get a coffee with him, which he denies and so Spencer shrugged, so you let out a breath, focusing on what you were doing.
“There’s nothing on a James Colby Baylor,” you said, sounding tired, running a hand through your hair, then settling it back on your keyboard.
“If he knew Penelope was FBI, then maybe he used a pseudonym,” Spencer offered, his hands in his pockets, standing across from you. “Try using the same combination of letters, JCB.”
“I’m gonna need more parameters than just three letters,” you retorted, looking up at him.
“Check anyone who rented a white sedan in the last 24 hours,” Derek said, still leaning over you and you desperately wanted to hit the both of them. Repeatedly. Instead, you check car rentals across the city matching the description, matching the restaurant that they had gone to, adding your facial recognition program to look for blonde men with blue eyes. “Plus some kind of job in the justice department. Try law enforcement, former military, stuff like that,” Derek added. “He knew enough to use legal terms, but not enough to know city attorneys don’t try criminal cases. Law school dropout, failed the bar exam—”
“Jason Clark Battle,” you told him, pulling up the picture of him and you swallowed. That was him. The guy you’d seen run away from the front of your building after you heard the gunshot. Your hands curled into fists, oblivious to Derek calling Aaron about it, charging out the door. Spencer didn’t particularly want to leave either of you, but he muttered a quick, ‘Be right back’ before disappearing.
You handed Derek a mug of coffee while Penelope slept in her own bed, the door left open in case she needed either of them. He’s set up on your couch, a blanket and pillows, his gun set on the coffee table, a single light left on so he can read the file. “Can’t sleep either, huh?” he asked you and you shrugged, taking a seat on the corner of the coffee table.
“He shot her on the doorstep, Morgan,” you said quietly. “If I hadn’t been at home…”
Morgan placed his hand on your knee, warm and comforting, and even though you had made fun of him being here, calling him Penelope’s ‘guard dog’, deep down, you were glad he was here. “There’s a lot that went wrong that night,” he said smoothly, his voice low. “Don’t eat at yourself worrying about how it could have been worse.”
You huffed a little. “You mean like you’ve been doing?” you asked, looking at him pointedly and he narrowed his eyes at you.
“You sure you aren’t a profiler?” he asked, noticing the slight hint of a smile on your face as you shrug.
“I guess we’re both wired the same way,” you said, instead of the retort you had lined up in your head. “Protecting the people we care about, blaming ourselves when they get hurt.” You glanced at Penelope’s room, her open door. “She’s all I have, Morgan.” And maybe it’s the late night, the anxiety coursing through your body, the thing that makes it impossible to sleep, that starts in your head and works its way to your chest, but you can’t seem to stop yourself. “She’s everything. My emergency contact, my medical proxy… Hell, if I died tomorrow, everything I own goes to her. She’s my family. If I lose her, I have no-one.”
Derek lets a beat pass, watching you, and you can tell he knows something you don’t, because he said, “You have people. Even if you can’t see them.” You frowned a little as he went back to his file, clearly unwilling to say more, and you’ve never been one to push into personal space. Instead, you go back to your room, left with his cryptic words.

hey so can I have Kurt x reader where neither has said I love you yet and they’re just spending time together, enjoying each other’s company and s/o actually springs on him “I love you” in german? He never taught s/o that.
~Sweet How The Words Slip~
Pairing: Nightcrawler x Reader
Word Count: 1.4k
Warnings: not a single one this is so cute
Genre: fluff
Summary: As it turns out, you're in love with your boyfriend, and now you have to tell him.
A/N: Thank you for each and every one of your requests <3
***
Jean and Storm are sitting on your bed while you clean your bedroom. You'd asked them to sit with you so you could actually get some stuff done.
"We're happy to be here while you do your chores or whatever but you have to spill." Jean says.
"Spill what?" You ask.
"I think she's talking about you and Wagner." Storm chuckles.
"Of course I am. They spend so much time together I'm surprised he's not hiding in her closet right now. I was starting to think we'd have to surgically remove him to ever get her alone again." Jean says and even though you're not looking at your you can feel her eyes roll.
"Surgically remove him?" You scoff out a laugh as you toss an old dress you never wear hiding in the back of your closet.
"Well yeah he never leaves you alone." She says.
"Alright don't talk about him like a pest he's- welcome. He 'never leaves me alone' because I don't want him to. I enjoy being around him as much as I assume he enjoys being around me." You shrug.
"Ah the honeymoon phase. Everything is sweet and perfect and the world revolves around nothing but your love." Storm teases.
"I didn't say any of that?" You frown.
"Everything isn't sweet and perfect?" She asks flatly.
"Well not perfect! Kurt is incredibly sweet so that's not really relationship specific but we're not perfect!"
"Girl who are you tryna fool?" Storm scoffs.
"It's fine if things are perfect. You're still so fresh I find it hard to believe you're already fighting." Jean says.
"We're not fighting." You shake your head.
"Of course you're not. He's obsessed with you." Storm says.
"Obsessed is a stretch I feel like." You say.
"It's not. He looks at you like you put the stars in the sky." Jean smiles.
"You guys are being ridiculous."
"So you're telling me he's not already planning the rest of your lives together?" Storm asks.
"Don't... get ahead of yourself Storm we've only been partners for a few months now." You say.
"We know it's on the horizon." Storm says.
"Yeah he's already made it clear how head over heels in love with you he is." Jean says.
"Girl what are you talking about?" You shake your head.
"What?" Her eyes widen. Even Storm shifts, sitting up in her surprise.
"What?" You ask
"The guy's been into you almost as long as he's been an X-man and you're telling us he hasn't said 'I love you' yet?" Jean gasps.
"Why are you freaking out? We haven't been seeing each other that long."
"It took him less than 6 weeks to make you his girlfriend after he finally asked you out, he had a crush on you for years before that and you don't think it's I dunno surprising that he's not said 'I love you' already?" Jean asks.
"No, I don't find it surprising. He's probably trying not to freak me out."
"What?" Storm asks.
"I dunno I'm sure he's getting advice from Logan or Scott and they probably told him it'd be unhinged to say I love you in the first 30 days of a relationship and now he's paranoid about saying it too soon. What if I don't say it back?"
"Would you?" Jean asks.
"Would I what?" You ask.
"If Kurt came in here and said 'I love you' would you say it back?" She clarifies.
"Yeah I think I would." You nod.
"You think?" Storm asks.
"Well I've never really vocalized it, but since you've asked and I'm actually considering it saying it back feels right."
"You gonna let him know that?" She chuckles.
"Sure! At some point, but it's not like he doesn't already know I care about him." You shrug.
"But that's not always the same thing." Jean shakes her head.
"What?" You frown.
"It's very squares rectangles. Of course you care about the people you love but you can care about people without loving them too. Especially as a superhero, you care about most people, but you don't love all of them. You love him, and caring about him is nice but he'd be foolish to assume that it implies the other thing here." Storm says.
"You have to tell him how you feel, it's important that he knows how deeply you feel because I'm sure he's probably terrified he likes you more than you like him and that's-"
"Okay Jean stop. I get your point. I'll tell him that I love him just- chill out."
"Chill out?! You just realized you love your boyfriend and you weren't even going to tell him."
"Okay well in my defense if we hadn't had this conversation I probably wouldn't have had that realization today so- there'd be nothing to tell for a while maybe." You say.
"But now there is something to tell!"
"I know, I know! I'm gonna tell him, calm down."
"You better or else."
"I get it, you're invested, no need to threaten me." You scoff.
There's a knock on your door that pulls all of your attention to it.
"Come in!" You say.
"Hello liebling- oh are you busy? I didn't know Storm and Jean were here." Kurt smiles peaking his head through your door.
"Not busy! I was just cleaning and the girls are here to help me stay on task." You smile at him.
"Are we still on for movie night later?" Kurt asks.
"Of course. Did you pick a film yet?"
"I did. I hope you like the choice."
"I will. Anything's great if we're watching it together." You say.
"Agreed. Snacks?"
"I'm on it. See you in a few hours."
"Can't wait." Kurt says and slips back out.
"Wow that was so freaking cute!" Jean gushes.
"Oh man I almost said it just then." You gasp.
"What?" Storm asks.
"Just then, before he left? I wanted to say 'I love you', had to catch myself."
"Awwwww! Ugh I'm so jealous." Jean sighs.
"Wow, you really are just so into each other." Storm muses.
"Yeah, I guess."
"It's cute, don't get all shy now." Storm smiles.
"I will kick y'all out if you don't quit it."
"Fine, fine. We'll stop." Jean throws her hands up in surrender.
"Thank you. Sheesh." You shake your head.
You spend another couple of hours on your chores, talking about any and everything, besides your relationship with Kurt. Eventually though, you do need to meet him for movie night so you shoo your friends out.
Something you've been doing passively and in secret is learning German. When Kurt talks to himself it's always in German and while he's never expressed that he struggles with English, he's clearly more comfortable in the former. You figure you could kill two birds with one stone here, confess your love for him and surprise him with a bit of your new skill.
The movie Kurt picked is one you've seen before, but he seemed so excited to see it that you wouldn't tell him that. Plus you like the movie, so you don't mind watching it again. You're nearing the end of the film and part of you is getting a bit nervous. You told yourself you'd confess tonight because you can't imagine holding onto this information. I mean, you knew for 5 minutes and you almost told him. You are not equipped to keep this a secret from him.
"Wow- that was such a good movie! Did you enjoy it?" Kurt asks looking at you.
"It's a great movie. I really liked it." You nod.
"We should watch another. Do you have one that you'd like to watch? Or rewatch maybe?"
"Kurt?"
"Yes liebling?" Kurt's eyes widen, he's giving you his full attention. You bring a hand up to his face, cupping his cheek as you look at him just as intensely as he's looking at you.
"Ich liebe dich." You say. "You love me?" He whispers. "I do." You nod, smiling at him softly. Kurt jolts back, blinking wildly. "Wait sorry I don't think I heard you correctly. Did you say that in-"
"Ich liebe dich." You repeat. Kurt lets out a soft sound as the disbelief on his face melts into a smile. His eyes are so gentle, so full of emotion that they're glistening, it's almost cartoonish and under different circumstances you might've giggled.
"You- you learned to say it in German?" Kurt sounds so light, just barely above a whisper.
"Ich unterrichte es selbst." You say just as softly back. You're teaching yourself. That's what you told him.
"I had no idea. Why didn't you tell me?" Kurt smiles.
"I wanted to surprise you." You tell him.
"Oh I'm surprised alright." He chuckles.
"I love you." You say grinning.
"I love you too." He says back and you gasp.
"You do?" You were fully prepared to not hear it back tonight.
"Of course, more than anything."
"I'm really happy." You practically sigh.
"As am I." Kurt wraps his arms around you tightly and there's literally nowhere else you'd rather be than here.

Your eyes roved over the text, trying to commit it to memory. Jesinia had done you a solid, pulling some of the best tomes for you to study before your test on Friday. Her expertise not only a scribe, but as your friend just might be what saved your grade.
If you could keep your mind from wandering, that is.
You'd caught yourself thinking, more than once, about the utterly insane predicament you'd found yourself in last week. It seemed that every time you turned a page in the textbook, images would race through your mind, each one as dirty as the last.
Liam fucking you in the shower.
Sitting atop Ridoc's face.
Bodhi's dick filling your throat.
...fuck.
You shake your head, the memory only sending more uncomfortable sensations to your core. This wasn't the time, nor the place -- nowhere, would ever be the time or place again. That was a one and done deal; one you'd be much too embarassed to repeat.
As your palms press into your eyes, you turn your attention to the wall clock, trying to make out the numbers it read.
11:57 pm.
Dammit, you hadn't wanted to be here this late. Perhaps all the reading and pouring over the material was good though, as you felt much more prepared for your upcoming exam. However, you'd failed to notice everyone emptying out of the library over the past few hours.
Your breath catches as you glance around, the dark silence of the hall sending a shiver down your spine. You were right, no one was here at this hour; it was simply you, and the stacks of books.
Book stacks you wouldn't mind being fucked against.
Okay, you really had to stop.
Glancing around once more, you slunk down into your chair a little lower, your fingers slowly leaving the table in favor of tracing along your leather pants. The pressure was getting unbearable, every moment of your past rendezvouz replaying in your mind as your panties grew wetter and wetter.
Ridoc's dick felt so good when he made you ride him.
You unzipped your leathers, your fingers slowly making their way underneath. A sigh escapes your lips as your fingertips brush your clothed clit, moving in small circles atop your panties.
Fuck... the sight of Liam jerking off to you too.
A soft whimper leaves your lips, your eyes widening into slits as you glance around one more time. You just had to make sure, certainly, that no one was in here.
Oh Gods... and Bodhi, spanking your ass-
"You do know this is a, public, space, don't you?"
Your eyes fly open, the figure standing just in the shadows of the nearby bookshelf causing your heart to race. Your hand flies from your pants as you shimmy in your chair, working to rezip.
"O-oh my Gods, uhm, oh my Gods-" you fumble, your vision blurred in embarassment as you stare down at your pants. Why wouldn't the damned zipper just fucking work, already?
Your breath hitches as a large, tanned hand moves atop yours. Your cheeks deepen in color, chest still rising and falling as the adrenaline courses through your veins.
"As your trainer," Bodhi says, his voice low. "I'd tell you to fix yourself, and send you to your dorm to finish this matter in private. Alone."
Your eyes slowly look up, meeting his darkened brown ones as he glares at you.
"But, as an interested party, I'm going to tell you to keep going."
You loose a shaky breath, his unforgiving stare a cross between anger and intrigue. You open your mouth to speak, but Bodhi's hand pushes your shoulder back against the back of the chair.
"Don't say a word, Y/N -- you got caught being a bad, bad girl." He tuts, leaning back to sit in the chair next to you. "Now, you answer to me."
You gulp, staying put as he stretches his legs out before him and gets comfortable, folding his muscled arms over his chest. He couldn’t possibly be serious!
"Keep going." He bites out, and you stare at him wide-eyed.
He scoffs. "What, now you can't hear, either? I said keep going." Your fingers fuddle with the waistband of your pants, shaking as you shove your leathers down to your knees.
"Mhm... play with that pussy, like the bad girl you fuckin' are."
Your fingers find your clit once more, the pleasure mounting in your core as Bodhi's eyes are glued to your every move. In an attempt to stifle your moan, your lip catches between your teeth, muffling the whimper. He's hovering over you in an instant, his hand braced against the back of your chair as his lips move mere inches from yours.
"Why so quiet tonight, hm?" He taunts, and you glare up at him as a wave of defiance rushes through you.
"B-because... it's a.. library." You grit out, failing to think of any other comeback. He laughs, full and unabashedly as he shakes his head low, his eyes meeting yours once more.
"You didn't seem to care that this is a library when you started playing with your cunt, though." He draws in a breath, his gaze flickering between your underwear and your face. "Bad riders don't get rewarded, Y/N... they only get punished."
Your heart races as two more figures appear from the shadows, their hungry gazes trained on you and your minstrations. A small swallow in fear is all Bodhi needs before his hands grip at your waist, hauling you atop the table and sending the books scattering to the floor.
"B-Bodhi... what-"
"Ohh, don't act like this isn't what you wanted," Ridoc sneers from beside you. He leans casually against the bookshelf, the obvious tent in his pants indication that maybe he wanted this to happen too.
"Oh, she wanted it alright," Bodhi huffs, grabbing your pants and roughly yanking them down your legs. He shucks your boots off, tossing them over his shoulder before ripping your pants over your feet. "Caught her playing with herself all alone in here."
Liam tsks, flanking the other side of the table as he watches in faux-disappointment. Had they all arranged this? Had they known you'd be in here?
"I-I..."
"Keep your mouth shut," Bodhi demands, yanking his own pants down just enough for his enormous erection to spring free. Your mouth waters at the sight; you'd forgotten how damn big he was.
"You're gonna work off this little violation, alright?" He chuckles, pulling you to the edge of the table so just your ass hung off the wood. His hand wraps around his cock, pumping it twice before sliding it against your soaking folds. You whimper, and he glares down at you.
"And... you'll be quiet if I say so, alright?" He chuckles, pressing the tip of his dick against your hole. "This is, after all, a library."
The sound threatening to erupt as he slides all the way in can only be described as nothing short of a deafening scream. He pushes himself all the way in, his pelvis flat against your thighs as you try and keep your noises at bay. Wasting no time, he yanks his cock out, only to slam back in with so much force that a small wail breaks free.
"Fuck... tight as fuck Y/N," he comments, speeding up as he fucks himself into you. "Squeezing my goddamned dick, baby."
You moan, the sound mixed with the creaking of the table beneath you. Bodhi's breaths come out in short pants above you, his gaze locked onto where his thick length is pounding into you.
"I... oh Gods," you cry out, your heaed turning to the side as you catch sight of Liam beside you. His tongue rakes across his bottom lip, his own cock hardening beneath his palm. The sight alone could make you cum, especially with the way Bodhi is pounding into you-
"Don't you dare cum," he growls, his hands bracing against your hips as he shoves you closer to him. Your gaze switches back to him as he leans over you, each stroke faster than the last as he barely pulls out anymore. "You're not cumming... not fucking yet."
You whimper as his mouth falls open above you, his eyes half-lidded as his thrusts grow sloppy. Your own impending orgasm has built up, threatening to burst any moment inside of you.
"B-Bodhi-"
"Fuck!' He shouts, your skin flush against his as his cock jumps, pumping his release inside of you. His breathing is heavy, his chest moving rapidly underneath the restraint of his zipped flight jacket. Your face twists in frustration, the heat in your lower tummy already receding as he yanks his cock out of you, a trail of clear semen following.
Sitting up on your hands, you only catch your breath for a minute before Liam saunters toward you, a cocky smile plastered on his face. His hands grip your knees, forcing your legs apart as you try and squeeze them together.
"You're not getting off that easy tonight -- I hope you've realized that."
You stare up at the gorgeous male; a dark, starved look crossing his features as he peers down at you. Your chest heaves as he slowly sits before you, only taking perch on the edge of the chair.
Goosebumps erupt across your skin as he leans forward, his lips mere inches from your glistening cunt -- and blows a stream of cool air across your skin. You clench around nothing, the sensation both extremely erotic and frustrating at the same time.
"Liam, please-"
"Ahh ahh," Bodhi tuts, leaning agaist a nearby table. "I said no mouthing off tonight, remember?"
Liam's dimple pops as he smiles, his handsome features only making you wish your cunt was pressed against his lips. You lie back down as he licks his lips once, his fingers softly trailing along the skin of your thighs. You whimper as he continues toying with you, barely able to keep your writhing at bay.
"Is this... what you want?" He says quietly, as his forefinger presses against your clit. You gasp, sitting up on your forearms to look down at his smug expression.
"Yes... oh Gods, please yes-" You grit out, as his digit slowly circles your clit. You squirm against the touch, wishing for more as he slides his finger around your sensitive bud.
"This isn't about you, though." He says, chuckling as he retracts his finger. He glances up at you before rising between your legs, his hands gripping your waist to flip you over onto your stomach. You gasp as your chest presses against the flat wood, and your stomach drops at the sight before you.
Ridoc stands on the other side of the table, his hand fisting his cock furiously as he gazes down at you.
"Open."
It's all you need to hear before widening your mouth, laying your tongue out flat just like he'd like it.
"Fuck... been waiting for this for damn near a week," he complains, slapping his length against your wet muscle. You squeak in pleasure as you feel Liam behind you, his fingers circling your pulsating opening.
"So wet, baby," he coos, as his ring and middle finger plunge into your aching pussy. He plunges them in, again and again-- the embarassing squelch of your vagina gripping his digits bringing a flush to your cheeks.
Ridoc's free hand caresses your chin, guiding his hard length to your awaiting mouth. You suck in a breath as he sinks his cock in, pushing it to the back of your throat as he groans. Gagging around him, he retracts, shoving back in moments later.
"Gods, Y/N -- you've been saving up for us, hm?" You hear the grin in Liam's voice, your cunt pulsating as he thrusts his fingers in and out of you. Unable to speak as Ridoc continues fucking your mouth, you only groan in response.
Liam curls his fingers, the tips rubbing against the sensitive spot inside -- you feel as though you'll explode. You huff out a breath, tears forming in your eyes as Ridoc continues assaulting your throat. The combined sensations are too much, your orgasm building with each minstration.
"It's a good thing you're so sexy," he laughs, patting you on the cheek with his free hand. "You've been on my mind all week, baby."
Liam retracts his fingers, and you cry out in frustration. Ridoc pulls out too, the emptiness on either end leaving you hot, bothered, and again, unreleased.
"Don't worry," Ridoc chuckles. "We still have more we want from you."
He appears on the opposite side of the table, standing where Liam just was, his open palm landing a harsh slap against the meat of your ass. You whine, only wishing he'd pleasure you more.
You don't have to beg much.
His hands clench around your hips, drawing you up onto your knees and forearms on the table. You wail again as he spanks you, clenching only when you feel his erection slapping against your cunt.
"You want me, huh?" He teases, landing another slap when you don't respond. "You want me to fuck you?"
You scream in pleasure, glancing behind you to watch as he slides his cock in.
"Yes, please Ridoc! Please fuck me-"
Your words are cut short as a hand wraps around your throat, yanking your head to look before you. Liam chuckles, his hands quickly finding your breast as he stands beside Bodhi -- who's guiding his cock to your lips.
"I told you," he grumbles. "Bad girls... have to be quiet."
He shoves his length in, choking you as he pushes down your throat. Liam pulls your hair, keeping your mouth in place as Bodhi fucks his dick down your raw throat. Ridoc pants from behind you, his girth reaching unimaginable depths inside your quaking pussy.
"You like that, huh?" Bodhi shakes his head, plunging his cock deeper in your mouth. "Like taking my cock while Ridoc fucks you?"
Another wave of pleasure racks your bones, the feeling of their dicks in two of your holes almost more than you can take. You gurgle around Bodhi's length as Ridoc's balls slap against your clit, heightening your senses even more.
"Can't... can't take much more," you garble out, and Liam's fingers pinch your nipple.
"You'll take, what we give you."
You squeak, tears threatening to spill over as you try your hardest to keep your orgasm at bay. Your walls clench around Ridoc's big cock, each thrust pushing you closer, and closer...
He cums with a gasp, hot ropes of his release splattering across your ass. He heaves as he squeezes your right buttcheek, his spent cock resting against the other. Bodhi grits his teeth before releasing as well, his seed spraying down your throat. He yanks his cock out, and Liam moves to hold your jaw as you muster a cough.
"Swallow it all," he commands, and you do as your told. Bodhi retreats, resting lazily in a chair as the aftermath of his orgasm washes over him.
If only you could feel the same.
You gulp down his salty-sweet taste, your muscles growing tired after your night of pleasure. Well... as much pleasure as you were allowed, orgasm-denial and all.
Liam pulls you off the table, holding you upright as he slowly backs you into one of the shadowed bookshelves. You groan again as he kneels before you, Bodhi and Ridoc flanking your either side.
"We've had our fun with you... do you think you deserve to cum?"
You nod your head at his sultry words, and he doesn't even look away from your glistening pussy as he speaks to the other two.
"Do you think she deserves to cum?"
Bodhi tuts while reaching for your chest, openly palming your left breast.
“I suppose she’s been quite good for us tonight.”
Liam nods in agreement, his lips pressing a single kiss against your folds. Your hips involuntarily buck in protest, a short moan coming out as Ridoc rolls your other nipple between his thumb and forefinger.
“Shhhh.. patience, baby.”
His voice alone could get you off, such contrast to his usually irritating tone.
Liam’s tongue flicks out, swiping across your cunt as he rolls his thumb over your clit. You squirm, your breaths coming out in quick bursts.
“L-Liam I… won’t last long-“
He chuckles, the vibration edging you further. Ridoc replaces his fingers with his mouth, leaning in to suck and mark your right breast with his teeth. You lean your head back against the shelves, the feeling of ecstasy finally within reach.
“You wanna cum, Y/N?” Bodhi’s breath skates across your skin, goosebumps arising just below your ear as he squeezes your breast partially hard.
“Such a little tease with these gorgeous things,” he continues, and you begin shaking, the feeling of the orgasm within reach.
“Oh FUCK, I’m-“
Ridoc’s hand claps over your mouth as Bodhi holds you upright. You tremble and shake atop Liam’s tongue, the pent up energy from all night finally reaching its sweet release. Liam’s hands reach around and squeeze your ass, holding you in place as you cum on his lips.
“Anybody in here?”
Your eyes widen, heartbeat quickening as you hear the male guard’s voice ring out through the otherwise empty library. Your eyes meet Bodhi’s, and he holds a single finger to his lips. Shh.
“Hello?”
The voice calls again, and the three of you stand in silence against the darkness from the shelves. After a few minutes, the entry door opens and closes once more, and you finally release a breath.
“Well… that was close,” you laugh, the first real sentence you’d uttered in hours. Surely the sunlight would be peeking through the windows anytime now…
You step toward your discarded clothes, making to grab them and put them on when a strong arm wraps around your waist, holding you tightly against a very bare, very toned chest.
“Oh come on — you didn’t think we were actually finished here, did you?”

your obstinate charge | astarion ancunin
Astarion has never been allowed to say 'no' before. When he does, he realizes who he wants to say 'yes' to. You realize that he could kill you here, right now, in any number of ways. He could slit your throat, drive a dagger beneath your ribs & pierce your heart, bleed you dry until you're nothing but a memory upon this land. You realize this, and yet your body relaxes in his hands. You trust him completely.

notes: hello! i wrote this last year and posted on ao3, and i wasn't going to cross post since my blog is mostly jjk, but i reread it and was really proud of it, so here it is on tumblr! ty for reading & hope you enjoy!
Everyone at camp can see that Astarion is in a foul mood.
You arrived back at Last Light after your first journey to Moonrise Towers, finally having arrived at your end goal to destroy these tadpoles, and before you could all share your discoveries with the rest of the party, Astarion strode off towards the waterline, ducking into darkness before you could grab him.
You stare after him for a moment and shake your head. Then you turn towards the fire, folding your legs under you as you ready yourself for dinner.
Gale passes you a wooden bowl of the same stew you'd been eating since arriving in the Shadow-Cursed Lands. "How did it go?" he asks.
You shake your head again, shoving food in your mouth, and lift your shoulder in a shrug. "We found Ketheric," you explain, offering the memory of your meeting to Gale through your tadpoles. He grimaces as you share the images of Ketheric pulling the axe from his chest. You withdraw your mind from his and continue to eat. "We've convinced them that we're True Souls, for now. We'll see where it takes us."
Gale begins to speak over his own meal, airing his many ideas to the party as the others gathered around the fire. But your thoughts drift, and you aren’t even lucid enough to feel guilty for ignoring him; all you can think of was how you know Ketheric was somehow involved in your previous life, that life you can't remember. Determination begins to burn deep in your chest; you must find out what this all means.
Before you can try to sort out your disordered thoughts, Karlach plops down beside you, the heat of her warming you on all sides as she digs into her stew.
"Hey," she says through a mouth full of food, "what's wrong with Fangs?"
You shrug, pulling apart your warm roll of bread. "How am I supposed to know?"
"'Cause you're all cozy with him, or whatever." She looks at you, her bright eyes keen and knowing. "Whatever happened today, you know what must be bothering him. Maybe you should go check on him."
You almost laugh. "He doesn't want to see me," you tell her.
She gives you a stern look before returning to her meal. "Just think about it, soldier," is all she says.
You all finish your meal and talk about your plan for the next day before retiring to your own tents for the night. You change out of your armor and clean it, rubbing off stubborn stains of goblin blood. You try to lose yourself to sleep, but it does not take you, with your many worries for the next day. And, even though you don't want to, you can't help but think about what Karlach said.
"Maybe you should go check on him."
So, unable to sleep, and unable to think of anything else to do, you leave your tent and make your way towards Astarion's.
You walk over, the chill of the night making you shiver. You almost hope to find the tent closed up for the night, to find him already trancing for the night, but the entrance is still tied open. You peek inside, expecting to find your companion reclined and reading a book by candle light; you try to prepare yourself for whatever sly flirtation he has for you.
Instead, you find the tent empty.
You frown; you know that Astarion hasn't been able to find suitable prey since you'd arrived in the cursed lands, so you can't imagine that he's out prowling. You stand there for a moment, at a loss and trying to decide whether or not to just go to bed. But you sigh, as whatever blackened heart inside you pushes you forward.
You, thanking your lucky stars that he wasn't trying to hide when he skulked away, follow Astarion's tracks down towards the river.
—
You find him propped up on his elbows across the river, staring out across the water. You don't bother to try and hide your footsteps; you simply cross the river, taking care not to lose your footing on the loose stones along the way.
"Come to collect your obstinate charge?" Astarion sneers without looking at you as you approach.
You sit beside him, tucking your knees against your chest. You try to keep your dirty shoes off his cloak that he spread out on the ground beneath him.
Those words are familiar enough; that dreadful Drow called him that to your face when she asked for him to bite her. "She really got to you, huh?" you ask, resting your cheek on one knee as you turn to look at him.
He's still in his armor from the day, and he'd found a bottle of wine somewhere in the crates surrounding Last Light on his journey over. It's something cheap, something you're sure he finds repulsive, even as he drinks. He stares across the river towards the inn, and he's silent for so long you resign yourself to the fact that he's ignoring you. Then, as you're deciding if you should just leave him to his thoughts, he shakes his head and says, "I can't get it out of my head. The way she leered at me."
You watch him, waiting for him to speak. He swirls the bottle of wine and takes a drink, then grimaces at the taste and lets the bottle hang loosely from his fingers. He doesn't look at you as he thinks.
Eventually, he sighs, the sound light and airy. "I was being too precious, wasn't I?" You can tell he's trying to convince himself, to talk himself back into some dark line of thinking he'd grown accustomed since being turned. "We could have used her potion. A moment of unpleasantry doesn't matter if there's a fine reward. I should have just gritted my teeth as always and let her have me for a bit."
You feel your heart sink at his words. "Astarion," you whisper, unsure of what to say next.
He barks out a laugh, a short, derisive sound. "Oh, darling, I don't need your pity." He throws the bottle of wine towards the water, and the glass shatters against the river bank. Wine starts to spill into the river, spreading like blood.
You shake your head, confused by how quickly his mood shifts. You struggle to keep up. "Astarion, I don't pity you," you tell him. You turn to face him properly, to take this conversation seriously. He still doesn't look at you. "But you have the right to say 'no.' You don't belong to anyone anymore."
At those words, he shifts his gaze from the waterline to finally examine you. His eyes are narrow, the expression behind them inscrutable. "You really believe that, don't you?" He laughs again, but he's not amused. His voice is bitter as he continues, "Yes, well, I must admit, a part of me feels sick when I think about getting on my back for breadcrumbs again." He tilts his head, suddenly curious. "But you, you could have convinced me to take the deal. To just push through and get the potion, and we would've all just moved along with our lives. Why didn't you?"
"Didn't you hear me?" Your voice is slightly incredulous. "You said 'no,' and that's your right. I'm not here to force you to do anything." You, now, laugh without mirth. You know enough about not having a say in what you do, with your strange visitors haunting your every move.
Astarion is still watching you. He has to admit to himself, he doesn't understand you one bit. No one in this life or his last ever showed him any ounce of kindness; even the gods couldn't be bothered to look his way. But here you are, some insignificant wanderer with gore for brains and a strong propensity towards gruesome violence, sitting beside him and telling him he had a choice. "But you could've," he pushes, and he suddenly reaches forward, dragging aside your neckline to reveal bruised teeth marks from where he'd last fed. You stiffen slightly, caught off guard by his quick movements. "What have I done to deserve any of your grace? I deceived you, tried to hunt you in the night, have taken everything I could from you with no promises to give any of it back."
"Astarion," you whisper, and for the first time, you think you are finally seeing him. "What makes you think you have to earn it?"
And that, finally, is what breaks him.
He rises up on his knees and takes your face in his hands, and there's a frenzy there, a desperation that makes you tense. You think he might shake you so hard your ruined brain will rattle around in your skull, and you watch the thought form behind his eyes. You realize that he could kill you here, right now, in any number of ways. He could slit your throat, drive a dagger beneath your ribs & pierce your heart, bleed you dry until you're nothing but a memory upon this land.
You realize this, and yet your body relaxes in his hands.
You trust him completely.
The look in his eyes is suddenly wild, confused, exasperated. Of all the prey he's ever hunted before, why did you have to be the one he showed the monster to? Anyone else would've run; you should've, too. Yet here you sit, on this riverbank beside him, looking into his blood-red eyes because he's led you right where he wanted you. Surely you aren't too stupid to see that.
Yet here you are, staring at him with those big, trusting eyes as he holds your life in his hands.
There must be something wrong with you, he decides then. Beyond the parasite in your head, and beyond the spells of very bloody memory loss; there is something fundamentally, elementally, seriously wrong with you. It's the only way he can explain to himself why you're still sitting here, prey in its predator's sight, unwavering & unafraid.
At that look in your eyes, that brave, corruptible expression, he leans closer. He says your name, and it's like the last prayer he'll ever speak. "Tell me what you want," he whispers, and he's almost begging.
You lean in, too, until the tip of your nose brushes the slope of his, and you breathe, "You."
And then he's kissing you, and you let out a small gasp, because you can't believe this beautiful elf has chosen you. He breathes you in, his hands still cupping your cheeks, and you thread your fingers into his silvery curls, beckoning him closer. One of his hands traces down your side, wrapping around your waist and holding you closer so you can feel the lines of him through your camp clothes. You gasp again, surprised by his unyielding grip, and his tongue slips between your parted lips, searching, exploring, tasting. You groan quietly, low in your throat, and his other hand traces from your cheek to your neck, fingers searching for the source of the sound. They find it, and they squeeze…
With his hand on your throat, feeling your pulse through the delicate skin, Astarion is nearly hypnotized.
He wishes that hunger deep in his belly would fade, would disappear and leave him to enjoy this, to lose himself in the moment like he hasn't in two hundred years. But it burns hot, and he can hear your heart beating strong in your chest, quickening as he moves against you, presses into you. It gnaws at him, spurned and getting harder to ignore, and you feel him bracing, beginning to pull away because he shouldn't do this to you— he can't—
You pull back from him, and he wonders how you could have possibly known his thoughts and braces for the impact of a stake in his heart—
Instead you tilt your chin and arch your back, and your hands in his hair lead him right to where he needs to be. His mouth brushes the pulse at your throat.
His vision flashes red; he can feel your blood thrumming against his lips, feel the seductive brush of each pulse against his mouth. He groans, and he wants to fight it, because gods he wishes things were different, but his lips part and his jaw opens, and he's biting into your throat.
A breath hisses from between your teeth at the sensation, at the ice traveling down your spine and chilling you to the bone. His mouth on you is unyielding as he cradles you in his hands, drinking you in in every way possible. Your eyes fall closed, and you begin to float, your thoughts becoming lighter than the clouds. You smile, because you can still feel him grasping at you, wanting you, needing you.
You trust him completely.
That hunger inside him pushes him to drink you dry, to tear your life from your hands until it burns in his chest instead. But he pries himself away from your throat, mouth dripping with scarlet and breath stuttering from between his lips. You can feel his chest heaving against you, can feel air fanning against your neck. You're still smiling.
"You," he gasps, easing you back down against the ground beneath you as he licks his teeth clean, "you ruin me." And then he kisses that smile on your mouth, and he's hovering over you, holding himself above you. It feels like a question.
When he pulls away, you open your eyes to see the stars painted over his shoulders. He looks predatory, like he's standing over the tattered remains of his latest hunt, but you see the softness in his expression, the vulnerability. He doesn't want to hurt you; he doesn't want this to be like all the other times, and he surely doesn't want this to be the first of its own terrible kind. He wants you, you realize. Not your blood, not your power, not your protection or your loyalty or your allegiance; he wants you.
You're ready to let him have you, if he'll take you.
"Astarion." You whisper his name, and he leans closer, his curls brushing your cheek. It tickles, and you giggle under your breath.
He tries not to stiffen at the sound. He forgets how soft you are sometimes, how gentle. It creates an air of innocence, though he watched you tear through goblins and cursed undead only hours before, and he knows without a doubt you can handle yourself. For a moment, he feels like the monster under the bed again.
But you touch his face, so very gently, and kiss him. Softly, sweetly, you call him back to you.
"I'm yours," you breathe, "if you'll have me."
And oh, it’s not even a question.
He’ll have you, he decides, pressing you back against the ground until rocks dig into your shoulders. He’ll take whatever you will give him, and when you’ve had enough, he will probably still be on his knees before you, begging for more.
Before that thought can scare him away, he trails his touch over your thin, casual clothes, grasping at the hem of your shirt. He pulls it over your head, leaving you naked from the waist up. He pulls back to look at you, to admire you, but you — suddenly cold and bashful — wrap your arms over your chest.
You hide from him, and he’s suddenly confused.
He examines the nervous look in your eyes, the way you're flushed in embarrassment and trying to hide beneath him, and all the little puzzle pieces suddenly click into place. This is new to you, he realizes. Maybe not truly and entirely; maybe you were taken to bed in whatever life you had before, but you don't remember that now. For you, with your absent memories and shattered persona, this was your first time.
It's suddenly all too much for him, and he shrinks away from you, leaning back into his heels. He holds his face in his hands, and he shakes his head ever so slightly, because it's too familiar a sight, to pin down bright innocence beneath his hips and drag it into the darkness. He wants to run away, to curse you for ever asking him to come to your camp and join your little band of misfits.
For a moment, he wishes he never met you; at least he wouldn't have to question every action he takes.
You prop yourself up on your elbows as he recedes from you, and very slowly and gently take one of his hands in yours. He's shaking, just barely, but your throat seems to close with a flood of emotion.
"Astarion," you whisper, and you gently pry his hand away from his face. His eyes are shut tightly, his lips twisted in a grimace. You bring his hand towards your lips, and you leave a kiss on his palm, feather light. "Astarion," you say again, "you don't have to do anything you don't want to."
Of course, you have to be the first person to say those words. The first person to encourage him to say no, when all he wants — for the first time in two hundred years — is to say yes.
For a moment, he’s bitter, and you can see the flash of frustration in his eyes when he finally opens them. But it’s gone in a moment, and he grins, flashing his teeth as he leans back in. “My dear,” he says, his silver tongue and honeyed words his only protection against the overwhelming confusion that’s threatening to settle over him, “I want this, trust me.”
He moves to catch your mouth with his, but you put your hand on his chest and stop him before he can. Your brows are creased, pulled together in concern.
The message is clear; you won’t let him use you to destroy himself.
His eyes flutter closed once more, and he breathes deeply, reminding himself where he is, who he is with. When he opens his eyes, they are gentle, softer than you’ve ever seen. You think, for a moment, maybe he has grown to trust you, too.
Slowly, without that same underlying malice, he leans in, close enough that his lips brush yours when he speaks. “I want this,” he repeats, his voice so quiet you can almost convince yourself you’ve imagined it. But then his mouth is on yours again, and he returns to his work removing your clothes.
His movements are slow, now, methodical. Like he’s trying to shake off decades of ghosts as he slides your pants down your thighs; maybe he is, you think. The fabric reaches your ankles, and you help him wriggle you free, and he tosses the clothing aside. Your underwear soon follow. Then, for one long, languorous moment, he looks at you, naked under the moonlight. Your mouth is red and sinful from kissing him, and the chilly breeze of the ever-present darkness raises goosebumps along your skin. Your nipples grow hard and pink, and you shiver. His gaze continues lower, to where you nervously squeeze your legs together in one last attempt at preserving your decency.
He wants to ruin you.
He brushes your thighs apart with one commanding swipe of his hand, and you shiver at the look in his eyes. Pupils blown wide with desire, he stares up at you through his lashes as he dips down, pressing open-mouthed kisses to the valley between your breasts. He settles his body between your legs, and he veers to one side and licks a line towards one nipple, catching it between his lips. The wind cools his saliva until you’re shivering, and you’re not sure if it’s the cold or the pleasure as your head tilts back, your body arching against the ground.
Astarion suddenly sucks, his cheeks hollowing slightly as he pulls at your nipple. You gasp, and he relishes in the sound, watching you bare your throat to him. He gazes up at you, admiring the sight, as his hand slips between your thighs.
Suddenly, you gasp when fingertips stroke against your core, revealing your glistening slick. Astarion groans, the mound of your breast still in his mouth. “All this talk,” he teases, reaching up and grabbing your jaw in one hand. With the other, he rocks his touch back just slightly, barely brushing against your clit. “You should be the one telling me how much you want it, desperate little thing.”
Your face burns at his words and his casual tone, but you can’t even argue with him before he sweeps his tongue into your mouth. He licks your teeth, and at the same time he presses two fingers inside you, and you let out a broken moan against his lips. You can feel his wolfish smile as he pulls back before pumping back inside you.
You can feel how wet you are, can feel it dripping down the inside of your thighs. He moves slowly, though, allowing the gentle stretch of his fingers as he kisses you. His thumb draws lazy little circles over your clit, and he catches each of your moans with his mouth, learning exactly what you like with a few strokes of his expert hands.
Then, just as your breathing starts to hitch and break, he pulls away, taking his hand from the wet heat between your legs.
The sound you make almost comes out as a whine, and Astarion laughs, watching you flush deep crimson. “Someone needs to mind their manners,” he chastises playfully, and then he lifts his fingers to his mouth and licks them clean, maintaining eye contact the entire time.
Your flush impossibly deepens, and you almost look away in embarrassment. But you can’t tear your eyes from the shameful scene, and you can tell that he knows how much it turns you on to see him like this. He grins again, and then he dips his head, disappearing between your thighs.
Before you can process his quick movements, you feel him lick molten heat up your core, and you throw your arms out to the sides, scrambling for purchase. You gasp his name, and you feel him chuckle more than you hear it.
”Yes, my dear?” he asks before running the flat of his tongue against your clit.
Your body stiffens, and your face lifts to the heavens. “Don’t stop,” is all you can muster.
And he doesn’t.
He eats you out until you’re shaking, falling apart under him. He presses his fingers back into you, three this time, and sucks on your clit while he strokes you from the inside. He stares up at you while he does it, watching you writhe in breathless, beautiful agony. One of your hands finds his hair, brushing through his curls with a touch that’s much too gentle for what you’re suffering at his hand.
You can feel your pleasure mounting, tightening like a coil deep in your belly while heat flames between your legs. Your moans are coming out in pants, now, barely intelligible noises that break against the riverbed. Your hand in his hair tightens, gripping for dear life and holding him there and pushing him away all in the same movement, and your back bows off the ground, your eyes nearly rolling back into your head as he pushes you higher and higher—
Then, like a band snapping, your orgasm rocks through you, and your vision goes black while your hips stutter and your core clenches and quivers.
Bliss washes over you, and you slowly come back to earth, and you find Astarion unbuckling his armor, nearly frantic in his movements.
”Astarion,” you croak, reaching for him.
He leans over you, kissing you, letting you taste yourself on his lips, his tongue. His hands tug feverishly at the buckles.
”Astarion,” you sound like you’re begging. “Astarion, please—“
He huffs playfully, still pushing off his leather armor one layer at a time. “What is it?” he asks, sparing one hand to stroke gently at your throat. “Do you need some attention? Aren’t you just obsessed—?”
”No,” you whine, finally rising up on your knees and reaching for his hands. “Let me— I want you to feel good.”
By now, his chest is bare, and he’s kicked off his boots. “Sweet thing, the thought of being inside you is driving me insane.” His leather pants slide down his thighs. “Do you want—?”
”Astarion,” you say again, your voice emphatic. You take his hand and bring it to your mouth, parting your lips against his fingers. “Please.”
Astarion freezes suddenly, staring at you with an expression of recognition. His eyes trail from yours down to your mouth, where his fingers sit. He can feel the heat of your breath, and he grows impossibly harder at the thought of what you’re asking.
It’s something he’s so rarely done since being turned. A pleasure he’s so rarely accepted.
Your lips brush his fingertips when you speak. “I want to make you feel good,” you whisper, and then you take two of his fingers in your mouth.
His stomach drops as he watches you, and his cock twitches at the sinful sight of your lips wrapped around his long pale fingers. You watch his pupils dilate, and his lips part slightly as you slide your tongue down, swirling gently. Your own desire pools in your belly, watching him watch you.
Please.
He nods, his breath starting to hitch slightly at the idea of filling that mouth. You smile, and you draw back until his fingers leave your mouth with a pop. Then you ease him back gently onto his elbows, picking up where he left off by dipping your fingers into the band of his underwear. You look up through your eyelashes, watching his chest heave up and down.
”Tell me to stop,” you say sternly, and he nods, understanding your meaning. So, having his confirmation, you continue.
You slide his last layer of clothing slowly down his strong thighs, watching every reaction your movements elicit. Watching for any sign of trepidation, of apprehension. But you only see desire, and one of his hands goes to your hair, knotting in your tresses. Encouraging you further.
You move your hands lower and lower, and your mouth begins to water as you follow the shaft of his cock. He’s gorgeous in every way, and when you finally reveal the pink head, glistening with precum, you have to hold yourself back from devouring him.
You tug his underwear the rest of the way off, and then you kneel in front of him, sure that whatever gods may be listening have placed him here in front of you.
You dip your head forward, wanting only to touch him with your mouth. With his hold on your hair, hopefully that would give him enough power to say no if it became too much. Tentatively, and watching for his reaction, your tongue slips out from between your lips and licks a gentle line along his shaft, giving you your first taste of him.
Astarion’s entire body stiffens at the sensation, and you do not move again, waiting for some sign that this was okay. After a moment, he tugs at your hair and very gently touches your cheek, and the look in his eyes is clear direction for you to continue.
You brush your lips against him, leaving gentle kisses, and then your tongue follows to the head of his dick, tasting his precum before swirling and bobbing deeper.
Astarion throws his head back, and he keens as you take him into your mouth. It’s a broken sound, but his hand in your hair pushes you deeper, and you obey. You drool when his hips cant forward, and you match his movements by swirling your tongue and pulling back before sliding all the way back down. He almost can’t believe the skill of your mouth, with how innocent you looked not five minutes ago, but then his thoughts scatter again when he hits the back of your throat.
He wants to press you down until you’re choking on him, wants to cum in your mouth and make a mess of you—
But he stops himself, pulls you back by your hair and kisses you, because he needs to fuck you.
He’s panting when he grabs you by the throat and lowers you onto your back. “Say it again,” he tells you, half delirious with the need to be inside you. “Say you’re mine.”
”I’m yours,” you respond immediately, eyes shining in the moonlight.
He groans your name, cupping his hands under your thighs. He wraps your legs around his waist, lining himself up at your entrance. Your cunt is still dripping for him, and he presses his fingers against your clit, watching you jump as he touches the swollen bundle of nerves. He laughs, a breathless sound, and then he places one hand beside your head, staring into your eyes as he slides inside you.
Thank you, he wants to say. Thank you for saving me.
But that’s much too vulnerable a thought to share, so he simply rocks his hips into yours, watching your mouth fall open in pleasure.
He’s perfect, you think as he slides back out of you before slamming back in, setting a brutal, unrelenting pace. He’s perfect and he’s here and he’s yours, and you want to tell him so, but you can’t even speak, so you squeak out moans and scrabble at his chest as he fucks you.
He watches you quickly come undone beneath him, and when he decides he needs more, he lifts one of your legs and props it over his shoulder. The new angle lets him hit a target inside you that has you seeing stars, and you’re a drooling mess beneath him, eyes glazed over with pleasure. His fingers once again find your clit, and he rubs those practiced circles, just like before. He watches your chest heave, and your lips try to form his name, but he’s knocking the wind out of you with every thrust. You feel him inside you, on top of you, all around you, and you know that this is dangerous, that this is the sort of magic that will keep you coming to his tent every night.
And oh, how you both want to tear each other apart each night.
You feel your second orgasm building, so much faster than the first, and you gaze up into his eyes, watching him fuck you, and it quickly becomes too much.
“Astarion,” you finally gasp, your voice pitched so high it almost breaks, “pleasepleasepleaseplease—“
The sound of your voice threatens to send him over the edge, and his thrusts begin to turn wild, frantic. He shoves himself into you until you come apart, unraveling at the seams. Your cunt clenches over and over again, pulling him closer from the inside, and before he can pull out to empty himself on your stomach, you grab his shoulder and tilt your hips forward, begging him to stay there.
Begging him to cum inside you.
The thought shatters him, and he moans into the crook of your shoulder, thrusting erratically as he rides out his own orgasm. You feel his cock twitching inside you, and you hold him close as his thrusts slow, then stop.
As you hold him, you press gentle kisses to his face. His forehead, his eyelids, his cheeks, his nose, his chin. His lips. He kisses you back, slowly, deeply. Then he pulls himself out of you, and you almost regret the sudden emptiness. But you can’t think about it for too long before he lowers himself to the ground beside you, and you follow him, still kissing every inch of him that you can reach.
”I’m yours,” you remind him. And even as you both start to clean up and head back to camp, he remembers those words.
He belonged to no one, but maybe one day, he wouldn’t mind belonging to you.

moodboard • playlist • series masterlist
The first thing you saw when you unlocked your phone this morning was a text from Jungkook. That in itself was weird—he wasn’t the type to be up this early, let alone texting people.
jaykay (work) [8:50am]: hi :)
you [8:50am]: oh my god. what did you forget?
jaykay (work) [8:51am]: have some faith in me. i was texting for something entirely different. 😒
you[8:51am]: are you sick? held hostage? blink twice if you need help.
jaykay (work) [8:52am]: how da hell are u so dramatic in the morning
you [8:52am]: come to the point jungkook
jaykay [8:52am]: fine. 🙄 don’t bring lunch today
you [8:53am]: why?
jaykay (work) [8:53am]: lunch is on me. taking you, shane and mingyu out for ramen
you [8:53am]: 🤨🤨🤨
jaykay (work) [8:54am]: see you in office🥰
You squinted at the screen, trying to process the words through your morning haze. This man barely made it to work before noon on most days, always breezing in with an iced americano and a sheepish grin. And yet here he was, awake and making lunch plans at 9 AM? Suspicious. Very suspicious.
It’s fixed, you know? Him being late to work, getting sarcastic remarks from the bosses - Natasha, the reporting manager (god did she love micromanaging the team) and Kim Song, the director of your company.
But whatever, free ramen was free ramen and, on that note, you finally woke up and went to get ready for the weird day that was ahead of you.
By the time you got to the office, the usual chaos had already begun. Natasha, wasn’t physically present today, thank the lord for that, you thought, but her presence loomed over Zoom calls like a dark cloud. You had barely set down her bag before her laptop screen lit up with an incoming call. Does this woman ever chill?
“Good morning, team,” Natasha’s clipped voice rang out as the screen loaded. “Let’s go over the deliverables for today.” Her screen was hidden and she was on a holiday like she had very explicitly mentioned the week before she left.
You suppressed a groan as you saw Jungkook and Mingyu joining the call too. Shane, their CS intern, looked half-asleep. Jungkook, though, was oddly quiet, his usual playful banter nowhere to be seen. His leg bounced under the desk, fingers drumming against the tabletop.
You shot him a look, but he didn’t meet your eyes.
Okay that was weird, wasn’t it?
You looked towards Mingyu and Shane to see if they noticed Jungkook being a little off today but to your surprise they were engrossed on what Natasha was instructing on the upcoming event which was the luxurious Cartier dinner.
Classic Natasha, putting her work on us while she sips on pina coladas on the beach after this 10-minute meeting. You wanted to be as carefree as her sometimes, how easily she just threw her tasks on others.
Throughout the meeting, you couldn’t help but steal glances at Jungkook which thankfully he didn’t notice.
Or at least that’s what you thought.
Jungkook knew you. He knew how curious you got sometimes and he also knew currently the wheels were turning in your head wondering why he was being so awkward. He smiled internally, thinking how much you knew him and how much he was going to miss you.
If you kept looking at him like that, he was going to crack. He just hoped you wouldn’t figure it out before he told you himself.
Once the meeting was over, you quickly went towards the design studio in the office, greeting Yuna and So-hee who seemed like had just come to office with the way they were switching on their systems for the day.
“I really need the final design renders for the stage setup and the seating plan for Cartier, Yuna,” You said worried knowing that if you don’t get these renders in next half an hour then the costing would delay and then Natasha…yeah no.
Its as if Jungkook got a sign, he entered the design studio greeting Yuna, So-hee, and Dae and standing next to you as if to ease the tension you had going on.
“Babe, give me 10 minutes, the renders are ready. I’ll email it to you, Natasha and Namjoon,” Yuna said as she started working on her system. You nodded your head and gave her a worried smile.
“Mark me in the email too,” Jungkook said instantly and you gave him a pointed look. Yuna seemed to mirror your thoughts and raised her eyebrows towards him.
Seeing that you both were confused, Jungkook chuckles and says, “__, you should be happy that I am willingly asking to be marked on emails,” which makes you roll your eyes playfully and smirk.
“Also, I don’t have nothing big going on currently, project wise, so I’ll follow up for the costings and Natasha will stay away from my ass,” Jungkook continues and laughs with Yuna, So-hee and Dae.
You looked at him as he was sort of back in his carefree self but something still felt off. You just couldn’t put your finger on what this feeling was.
Lunch couldn’t come fast enough. The second Natasha’s second call for the day wrapped up the call, you shut your laptop and turned towards Jungkook who along with Mingyu and Shane was joking and was waiting for you to get done.
“Okay, spill. What’s with the mystery since today morning?” You immediately asked him and he couldn’t help but chuckle nervously.
Mingyu slung an arm around Jungkook’s shoulders, grinning. “Yeah, dude. You’re making me nervous.”
Shane, ever the observer, just raised a brow. “Is this about work? God I can’t wait to dig into some good ramen after hearing Natasha ramble since past 15 mins. 15 mins with her feel like 2 hours,” Shane continued rambling earning laughs from the three of you.
Jungkook let out a breath, running a hand through his hair. “Let’s just get to lunch first.”
That didn’t help your growing suspicion, but you let it slide—at least until the 4 of you reached the ramen place.
The aroma of rich broth and sizzling garlic filled the tiny ramen shop. Shane and Mingyu were already practically vibrating with hunger, menus discarded, ready to order. You, however, were still scanning the options, your stomach rumbling in anticipation. Just as you were about to decide, you and Jungkook spoke in unison: “Japchae.”
A surprised laugh bubbled up. “You wanna have japchae too?” you asked, a little thrill of connection sparking despite the weirdness of the morning. He nodded, a small smile playing on his lips, and ordered for both of you.
Minutes later, steaming bowls of ramen and the shared plate of japchae arrived. The savory scent made your mouth water. You took a tentative bite of the japchae, the noodles perfectly chewy, the vegetables crisp and flavorful. It was delicious. But Jungkook just sat there, chopsticks hovering over his bowl. He had a strange expression—not quite annoyed, but… something. You knew that look. It was his tell when food was exceptionally good. That’s just his weird trait.
You took the second bite yourself to see if it was and it was really good.
“I got another job.”
Silence.
Your stomach dropped.
Then, Mingyu blinked. “Wait, what?”
Jungkook shifted in his seat, avoiding their gazes. “I got an offer from an event company. They handle production for A-list musicians—concerts, world tours, all of it.” But you could see how proud he was. This was his dream.
“Oh, shit, that’s huge,” Shane said, eyes wide and dramatically keeping his chopsticks on the side.
Jungkook looked at you trying to gauge for your reaction.
You swallowed, gripping your chopsticks a little tighter. “Wow. That’s… incredible, Jungkook.” You said genuinely but why did it feel so off? Why did it feel like you were losing everything? People leave jobs all the time and this is no different, so why was it feeling all to different suddenly?
When you congratulated him, you meant it. You really did. He deserved this. But there was a weird, hollow feeling in your chest. Something tight that you couldn’t quite name.
Jungkook was watching you and asked, “You okay?”
You forced a smile but to everyone it looked genuine. “Of course. This is a big deal. I am so happy for you, Jungkook!” Mingyu and Shane mirrored your smile and congratulated him to which Jungkook threw an honest smile.
His eyes still lingered for a second longer before he nodded, turning his attention back to his food. But you could tell he didn’t fully believe you.
Mingyu and Shane immediately started asking him the questions about his new company and the new job and Jungkook excitedly answered them all and you were interested too to know all the details.
Once the 4 of you were done with the lunch, you asked him, “So when are you telling Natasha?”
“Next week, and then 2 weeks’ notice,” He said looking at you as if he was trying to find an emotion out of you.
“Damn bro, you are leaving us so soon.” Shane said and you looked at Jungkook.
“Now at least I will have some proper desk space at the office,” You tried to joke which earned you a playful eye roll from Jungkook.
“Oh my god, I have to plan a farewell party for you now,” Mingyu joked and you laughed. For the whole lunch, this is the first time Jungkook noticed you genuinely smiling and it was all thanks to Mingyu’s dramatic nature.
The rest of the workday felt strangely off-balance. Even though nothing had technically changed yet, you felt the weight of the upcoming shift pressing down on you. The knowledge that soon, Jungkook wouldn’t be here anymore—wouldn’t be there to roll his eyes at Natasha’s ridiculous demands, wouldn’t be crashing at her desk with an iced coffee and a new piece of gossip, wouldn’t be around to share those unspoken glances when things got too absurd.
You had started hating how much that realization unsettled you.
It was Jungkook who got you out of your dazed thoughts when he said, “___, I have asked Namjoon hyung for the Cartier costing and he is working on it,”
You threw a sincere smile towards him and nodded while he went back on his desk and worked on some small projects he had going on.
gyu (work) [3pm]: are you okay?
Once you read the text, you immediately looked at him but he acted to be so engrossed in his work and you couldn’t help but look back into your phone and text back
you [3:01pm]: yeah, why?
gyu (work) [3:01pm]: you sure about that? ever since jk dropped that bomb, you have been quiet and so has he.
That got your attention. Were you that obvious?
you [3:02pm]: no nothing like that. im happy that he got this. he deserves it!! also when is the blue label bottle engraving costing going to the client? natasha has been on my ass about it since morning. send it asap please <33
gyu [3:03pm]: girl i gotta give it to you, nice attempt to change the convo but we aren’t done yet. ugh why are you my senior? im sending it in 5
By the time the day ended and finally the costings for Cartier had gone out (thanks to Jungkook and Joon), you had convinced yourself you were just being dramatic. People left jobs all the time. This wasn’t a big deal. It shouldn’t be a big deal.
Mingyu and Shane had already left for the day and the design studio was also empty leaving only you and Jungkook in the client servicing department. For a Monday, people had left earlier than usual, you thought to yourself.
You looked at the clock and saw it was 7pm already.
While you packed your bags, like routine, Jungkook waited for you. He dropped you home everyday given that you both lived nearby and your apartment came on the way to his.
However, the silence between the two of you felt heavier than usual.
“You’re quiet,” he finally said as the two of you entered the elevator.
You forced a laugh and adjusted your purse, trying to look anywhere but at him. “So are you.”
The two of you exited the elevator and sat in his car, he started the engine. For the first time ever, the silence between the two of you was uncomfortable.
Jungkook sighed, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel as he took the familiar route and said, “Are you really happy for me?”
You immediately turned to look at him, meeting his gaze in the dim glow of the streetlights. “Yes, I am. Why would you think I am not?”
His smile was small, a little sad. “Alright. You and I haven’t spoken much since lunch,”
You didn’t know why, but something in your chest ached at that. But you ignored it, and looking towards and giving him a smile and said, “Jungkook, I am so happy for you. I am. I know you wanted this and now you have it,”
For the first time in the whole day, he smiled genuinely at you.
“Will you miss me?,” He asked as he stopped the car right out of your apartment and looked at you with his doe eyes that carry the sta-
Wait what?!
You ignored whatever that thought was and quickly composed yourself and laughed at him. “You wish I would miss you,” You joked playfully and he rolled his eyes.
“On a serious note, yes I will. Who will I tolerate Natasha with?” You continued and he let out a small chuckle.
“Anyway I have to go. See you tomorrow boss,” you finally said, and then you were gone, disappearing into the building.
Jungkook sat there for a moment, staring after you.
He knew you better than you thought. He knew when you were genuinely happy, when you were just pretending, when you were holding back something you didn’t want to say. And tonight, you were definitely holding back.
Jungkook sighed, leaning his head back against the car seat. Leaving this job was supposed to be exciting, a step up, an opportunity of a lifetime. And it was.
But why did it feel like he was losing something, too?

My heart hurts for the lack of Toji requests 💔 but I am here…begging…for Toji fluff!!!! 🙈
i wanted to make this more cutesy but it became more funny instead LOL but please enjoy and do send more toji requests <3
megumi's got his little scout uniform all neat and tidy, the stupid hat sitting just right on his head like he's about to go door to door selling overpriced popcorn. he's standing there, all serious, tiny hands balled into fists, because he's been told that scouts are honorable, disciplined, and always prepared.
meanwhile, in the other corner of the house, your husband is getting ready for his daily activities, and let’s just say—toji’s version of "always prepared" involves an arsenal that would make a war general nervous.
"you got everything, gumi?" you ask, adjusting his collar. megumi, ever the professional, nods. "yes."
his checklist is immaculate. ✔ scout hat? on. ✔ badges? pinned (though he thinks they’re useless unless one is for hand-to-hand combat). ✔ badtz-maru socks? absolutely. (toji has no idea what the hell those are, but he keeps seeing that angry little penguin everywhere).
you give him a proud little pat, while behind you, there's a very different checklist happening.
✔ gun? loaded. ✔ knife? strapped to the thigh. ✔ sword? sharpened, because subtlety is not in this man’s vocabulary. ✔ grenade? just in case.
“alright, kid, don’t forget the scout motto," you say.
“be prepared.”
“good—”
CLICK.
you turn. toji’s just finished checking the safety on one of his guns, strapping it to his back like he’s starring in some underground action flick. megumi squints at him.
“...what’s papa's motto?”
“uh…” you try to think of a way to phrase ‘leave no witnesses’ in a scout-friendly way. toji, who is in the middle of loading another weapon, grins.
“work hard, play hard.”
megumi does not look convinced.
"oi, don’t gimme that look," toji says, shoving a blade into his belt loop. "you got your uniform, i got mine."
megumi crosses his arms. “mine doesn't come with weapons.” toji, without missing a beat, smirks. "sounds like a you problem."
you sigh, rubbing your temples. "toji, can you at least pretend to be a law-abiding citizen for five minutes? megumi’s going to do good deeds and earn his badges."
"so am i," toji says, patting the sword on his back like a proud dad watching his kid go off to college. megumi side-eyes him. "what kind of badge do you get for that?"
"money," toji says smoothly. "lots of it."
megumi seems to consider this for a long moment. then, with the biggest, most exaggerated sigh a five-year-old can muster, he tugs his scout hat lower and marches toward the door. “whatever. let's just go sell some popcorn.”
toji slaps a hand over his heart. "attitude like that, you’re never gonna get your capitalism badge, kid."

All I know about LOL is from google and all I know about Arcane is taken from the show, so inacuracies will be plenty. I have a sort of idea on how to I'm gonna go with magic and runes, so bear with me. The reader will be written as GN (going by they/them) to get everyone involved, but if you see any discrepancies let me know

• ··········· • ············ •
Thanks to whatever gods were now in charge of watching your endeavors, you made your way quickly and easily through the aqueduct. A mix of Viktor’s knowledge of the place and your ability to unlock doors and create distractions meant you didn’t need to go through the rocky riverbed.
Once on the other side of the river, you both made your way silently toward the main city, and when you arrived back at the park, the sun was already low on the horizon.
Viktor paused next to the small bench you had met by that morning, scratching the back of his neck and biting on his cheek, and you frowned.
“Spit it.” You crossed your arms and raised an eyebrow when he looked up at you, but then his gaze drifted away.
“I have a…suggestion to give you, but I’m afraid of what you might think of me after.”
Your frown got deeper as his cheeks got redder.
“Go on.”
“My apartment is closer to the aqueduct than the penthouse, so…” He cleared his throat. “I think it would be beneficial…and far less exhausting… if…youspendthenightatmyhouse.”
The last part of the sentence came out as fast as the hex claw laser. You got 'spend' and 'house'…ah…
…
“You don’t have to; it is completely up to you, and even if you say yes and then change your mind, you can go! And the walls are really paper-thin, so if you are worried that I do anything to you… I mean you do have magic and I'm not exactly the strongest man in Piltover…once…Jayce gently pushed me away from an experiment, and I toppled over… Embarrassing, really… Why am I telling you this?”
You blinked a couple of times. At first I'm shocked that he had actually asked you to spend time at his place, especially after the day you both had. And then at his comically dramatic rant, a smile appeared on your face as he kept going.
“Alright, sounds like a good plan.”
“Besides, your mother isn’t here yet, and you’d be alone and…wait, what?” He finally stopped to look at you.
“It’s a good idea. We’ll be able to squeeze a few more hours of sleep in and do some planning.”
Viktor started to nod slowly at first and then enthusiastically. His face opened up with a nervous but bright smile.
“You want to go get takeout at Voltaire’s? I’m sure I can convince him to get you some tart…” He announced as he passed you by, waiting for you to follow him.
“No need.” He adjusted his cane, and you could have sworn he had a little more pep in his step. “Jayce came over the other day; his mother usually makes him bring me food. I fear she thinks I can’t feed myself.”
“Eh…pastries and dessert don’t count as a balanced meal plan, Vik.” You joked, and he gave an ‘I don’t care’ type shrug. “I’m just happy you're eating.”
“Why wouldn’t I?” You shifted your backpack’s straps, realizing what you had blurted out.
“Well, work…”
“I can eat and work! That is why I have two hands…” He made a gesture of screwing a bolt and grabbing something to eat.
“Wow…efficient.” He made an agreeing sound with his throat, and you laughed.
“Keep doing it! As much as people would kill for those cheekbones, gaunt wouldn’t look good on you.” You winked at him and laughed when he touched the reddening apple of his cheeks.
Viktor joined your amusement as you both walked towards the Artist Quarters on your way to Engineering Street.
The small apartment Viktor had inhabited was, in fact, closer to the aqueduct, between the riverbed and the Academy. Most of the people working in the Academy had housing there. Mostly because the rents were low for them and proximity. It was a step up from dorms, but not really an upgrade in luxury.
And while Engineering Street was quiet throughout the day and night, you’d even say a bit boring, the Artist Quarters were a lively and colorful place, becoming more energetic at night.
The buildings were smaller, with a maximum of 3 floors, but bright with small shops on the floor levels. Bakeries, art shops, music stores. The cobblestone streets were filled with chalk drawings on the ground, and the streetlights had string lights hanging in between them.
The colors seemed to become brighter in these streets with the number of flowers and small trees and the strewn artists painting on the streets or people drinking and eating on the restaurant’s patio.
You passed by an art supply shop, and someone inside shouted Viktor’s name and waved at him. Viktor did the same, warmly greeting the elderly man storing a display of watercolors on a shelf, and you became curious.
“Mr. Felton sells me the pencils and chalks the council hates so much.” Viktor explained when he saw your expression.
“Have you ever tried drawing?”
“Oh no! Jayce is the artist of the two of us. He’s in charge of doing the initial designs and sketches…I’m good with a ruler, though!”
You were chuckling at his pride and confidence when he suddenly veered right and started to fish something out of his satchel. He took out a key and shoved it into the intricate front door to a beautiful blue-tiled building.
When he noticed you weren’t following him, he turned back and mentioned for you to come.
Viktor, head scientist and co-creator of Hextech, did not live on Engineering Street… Viktor, the color-coding aficionado, lived in the Artists Quarters. And you knew, in your heart of hearts…in the depths of your soul…there was nothing that made more sense than this.
His never-stopping mind didn’t need the monotony of the academy-assigned living quarters. It needs the bustle and the bustle and the colors of this place. You wondered if anything would have been different if the other Viktor had had this thought.
…
The building was beautiful outside and in.
On the outside, the light blue tiled walls were decorated with white columns and stone windows. There were three floors, with the two higher ones having a small veranda on them, just big enough to have two chairs on them. The ivy that crept up on the walls broke the symmetric façade of the building, clinging to the columns and tiles like veiny tendrils of bright green. What really got your attention at first was the front door, a white wood double door with intricate carvings and colorful glass panes, finished with a beautifully curved glass canopy.
The inside of the building was just as wonderful, with pastel brown painted walls and various little plants scattered on corners; the well-used wooden floors gave the inside a cozy feeling. In the middle back of the foyer was an old, small elevator that Viktor quickly made his way to, only stopping at the metal mailboxes to see if anything had been left to him. Nothing.
When you got to the elevator, you noticed Viktor’s hand tapping on the handle of his crutch. He was biting his cheek and slightly frowning, breathing in and out deeply at points.
“Are you alright?” You asked, leaning against the cage of the elevator.
“Mmm?” You nodded to his fingers on the handle, and he stopped, clutching the handle tighter. “Sorry…I--”
“Remember when you said I could change my mind and go? The same applies to you. I can just go.” You made sure your tone wasn’t disappointed or angry or any unintentional emotion that would make him feel bad when there was absolutely nothing to feel bad about. You’d respect his decision the same way you know he’d respect yours.
“No…” he quickly interjected. “I…this is not because I don’t want you here. It is because I do. I’m afraid I may do something that will scare you off…”
“I don’t scare easily.” You want to add, ‘I once spit in the face of a god,’ but then he would start asking questions. So you just touched his hand and smiled.
The elevator stopped with a mechanical groan, and Viktor nodded, more to himself than to you, and walked out to the second-floor foyer. He opened the door and walked inside with you close behind. However, you couldn’t make it past the door frame without gasping wide-eyed while your mind blanked.
Something about butterflies and wings came to mind, though.
The inside of his apartment was the exact same floor plan as the other dimension. A small kitchenette to the left with a window on top of the sink, and the rest was open space. The glass and wood door to the balcony was on a diagonal corner in front of the main door; next to it was a small arrangement of windows with curved lines going through them, giving them a delicate design. There was a room to the side, which you guessed was the bedroom, and another room at the end of the open space, the bathroom. It wasn’t cramped, but it was small.
You knew this floor plan like the back of your hand; you could close your eyes and go from here to the bathroom without bumping into the wall.
What changed, though, made the entire home feel different. The decorations and the colors. The lived-in details of the furniture.
The walls had been painted a deep forest green, instead of the neutral gray of the other dimension. There were decorations on the walls, diplomas, and schematics displayed proudly. The wooden floors were shiny and covered with rugs here and there.
The small table that served as a divider between the kitchen and the living space had a napkin holder and a wooden straw table mat. There were pans on top of the fridge and plates on the dish rack. There were two mugs on the sink, one of them with ‘man of progress printed on it.
It contrasted with the table that only served to hold books, boxes, and schematics. On the other timeline, glasses and plates were stored so as not to catch dust from not being used.
The living room had three bookcases filled with trinkets, books, vinyl records, and their player.
The books weren’t just academic, like the other apartment’s shelves, but also biographies and fantasy, architecture, and philosophy.
You could see the collector's edition of your mother’s saga neatly tucked into a shelf with small ceramic figures of the main characters in front of them.
There were photos of him, Jayce, Sky, and even your mom and Willah. Noticeably he didn’t look particularly comfortable in any of them, but it was a stark difference from the single photo of Jayce and Viktor at the inauguration of the hexgate and the framed newspaper clipping of the hex crystal discovery.
The couch was a light dusty pink color with decorative pillows and two folded blankets on the back of it. It was a sharp difference from the leather-bound couch with blankets thrown about and his bed pillow shoved into a corner.
Behind a clothed divider, a desk and some scientific material were completely thrown around, but the mess was enclosed there. Near a big window, you saw the single-seat, twin version of the couch your mother sent to the lab. Tucked in a nook surrounded by plants and books.
There were shoes on the shoe rack and coats on the coat hanger. There was an open book with a cover-up on the end table near the couch. There were tea stains on the dinner table. There was a life being lived here.
As you walked around the home, with Viktor trailing in front of you explaining and adding commentary to the million new things you were finding in the familiar house, you found yourself wondering why the Viktor you knew from before couldn’t have been gifted this…why was this Viktor standing in front of you smiling and being a generally happy human while his cosmic twin coughed himself to death? It made you sad and happy and angry and relieved.
“Are you alright?” Viktor tapped your shoulder, something he had now started to use to catch your attention instead of grabbing you.
You took a deep breath and mentioned the couch, silently asking permission to sit. Quickly he nodded and grabbed some pillows to make space for you.
When you fell onto the leathery furniture, he took the place next to you, looking concerned.
“V…I…need to--”
“Meow”
Your speech was interrupted by a long, muffled meow by the front door, accompanied by small scratches on the wood.
“Oh…No, no… I’m sorry…Give me a moment…” Viktor gave an apologetic smile and got up, while you looked on intrigued by this.
He walked towards the bathroom door and opened it and then went back to the front door and did the same. The blackest of black cats intertwined itself on Viktor's legs, giving out small greeting squeaks and purrs.
“Go. Go on. Yes, I know.” Viktor said, smiling softly at the cat, talking back to them as if he could understand.
The scientist softly nudged the cat with his foot, making the furry critter understand the big human wanted to move.
The cat finally acknowledged you and walked slowly towards where you sat, sitting gracefully in front of you and staring. Their blue eyes looked at you, and you swore that if all of the lights in Piltover were to turn off, the cat's eyes would be the only thing beaming.
“You have a cat.” You stated more than asked.
“Eehhh…Technically, the building has a cat. She just heard me first.” He limped back towards the couch and sat down.
“What's her name?”
“Noir…Nono for short.”
The cat leaped to the couch and smelled the hand you gave her. After a while, she deemed you worthy of her time and pushed her head into her hand, while Viktor stroked her body.
“Nono.” You called, and she looked at you. You presented her with your name, and she meowed.
When she was sick of the attention, she jumped down and walked to the bathroom, where you heard the telltale signs of her munching on her food.
“What were you saying?”
Viktor’s face was the definition of relaxed, the concern from before being replaced with a soft gaze and smile.
Was the need to come clean to him about his cosmic twin attempting to end the world worth him losing his peace? Would the information you were about to vomit change what he has so carefully built?
“I…think I just need to eat.” You gave him a bright smile, and he laughed quietly.
“Very well.” He got up from the couch and made his way to the kitchen counter, and you followed him. “Please, make yourself comfortable.”
You already were, the familiar floor plan making you feel at home. You sat at the dinner table watching him open his fridge and take out some glass containers with food and place them in the oven to heat up.
Viktor sat on a chair next to you and slowly took off his leg brace, sighing in release.
“If you want to, you can shower. I can go ask Madame Theroux, my neighbor, if she can let me borrow one of her kid's old clothes… I think she might have something that fits you.”
“Oh no…That’s too much of a bother.”
“Nonsense.” He got up and grabbed a discarded cane that was hooked on the divider and walked towards his bedroom.
After a while, he came out holding two fluffy towels and handed them to you. “She probably already heard I have company; might as well come clean sooner than later; otherwise she’ll be knocking on my door to snoop.”
“Sounds like a charm.” You grabbed the towels.
“She is actually. She’s very protective of us…the people in the building.” He smiled and mentioned the bathroom door. “If you could just leave the door ajar so Nono can come in and out…otherwise she will throw a tantrum.”
The black cat, now curled up on the couch, meowed at hearing her name. You nodded and walked to the bathroom while Viktor made his way to his neighbor's door.
“Oh…you can use whatever you need from there.” He opened the door and paused again. “There’s a robe on the back of the door if you need it.”
The door clicked shut, and you looked at Nono, who looked up at you and blinked slowly.
The bathroom was big, and while in the other dimension, it was just a well, normal bathroom; this one had been enhanced to help Viktor with his disability.
There were grab rails next to the slightly raised toilet and in the shower nook. All of the towel racks were sturdy enough to assist if he needed.
The floor had several thin anti-slip rugs, and the shower also had one that looked like wood.
There was also a stool inside the shower that you assumed he would use when needed.
You and Viktor in your timeline had once talked about this, making his house accessible for when he needed it, but his answer had been dismissive. A shrug and an ‘I spend more time in the lab anyway.’ Maybe you should have insisted; maybe you should have been more enthused about making it easier for him. Maybe if you had, he would have seen you in a better light after he had gotten the news.
It frustrated you that ‘maybes’ were all you had now. Even if you went back to your dimension, those things would still be in a maybe and if pile.
You heard the door close and started your shower quickly. You heard a knock on the door.
“There is a chair outside the door, in arm's reach for you to take. Madame Theroux said she threw in some undergarments…I didn’t check.”
“Thank you.”
You finished the shower and grabbed the clothes. Some red cotton checkered bottoms, a matching shirt, a white undershirt, and undergarments. It looked cozy, and it did fit you perfectly. This brought up the question of how Viktor had described you to the neighbor for her to get accurate measurements.
Walking out of the bathroom intent on joking about it with him, you stopped when you saw him haul a blanket and what you assume was a pillow to the couch.
“Oh. You are done.” He smiled, grabbed some clothes from the back of the couch, and walked towards you. “I think the food will be done soon. I am going to take a shower too, and then we eat, yes?”
You were still looking at the pillow and the sheet that was already tucked into the sofa.
“This for me?” You blurted it out before he passed you, and he shook his head.
“No. You’re my guest. You sleep on the bed.” He sounded proud of himself. “May I?”
Viktor pointed to the door of the bathroom, and you noticed you had been blocking his path. You took a step forward, and he smiled, walked inside, and pushed the door almost closed.
The ruffling of clothes snapped you out of your stupor, and you walked towards the kitchen, throwing daggers at the couch.

Meta-isekai | K. Bakugo ✧ Act I Scene I
-`♡´- In which Bakugo gets isekaied into a shoyo romance. -`♡´-
Peak stupidity ⋆ ˚。 ⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。 ⋆
Act I 𓆩⚝
Scene I: What the fucking fuck?
𖹭 Katsuki woke up but not in his dorm room, rather in something that resembled his bedroom at home.
𖹭 What the fuck? He thought as he threw his legs over the bedsheets and stood up. Something was off. Was he stuck in a quirk?
𖹭 On his desk sat a fat black cat. Katsuki didn’t own a can so the sight of the animal caught him off guard.
𖹭 ‘’What the fuck?” He said out loud.
‘’Why are you cursing at me first thing in the morning?” The cat answered.
Katsuki’s hand shot in the air, straight into the cat's fluffy face. He gathered his strength and… nothing happened. Not even a spark from his palm.
‘’You’re acting weird.” The cat hummed and started licking its butt.
With eyes wide open Katsuki headed back towards the bed, hopped inside and curled under the sheets trying to cope with what was happening. This must be some kind of a quirk and he’s in danger now. The fight is happening around him but he doesn’t hear or feel anything because he’s under some sort of illusion. How can he get out?
‘’Going back to bed is not like you. Come on, we have stuff to do.” The cat persisted as it jumped on the bed sheets. ‘’Wait.’’ It zeroed in on Katsuki’s face, nearing him gently, paw after paw. ‘’You’re not my Katsuki.”
𖹭 Katsuki wanted to grab the cat to pin it in place but it slipped out of his fingers leaving only a few black hairs in the place he the blonde tried to grab him. Katsuki started to shout and jumped out of the bed trying to get close to the poor animal. This evoked a deafening hiss as the cat started to flee.
𖹭 The door slammed open and his angry mum entered the room. ‘’What the heck are you doing? Get ready for school, brat.” She shouted even louder than the cat and slammed the door back closed hard enough to make the walls shake.
𖹭 But Katsuki didn’t live with his mother anymore.
𖹭 ‘’Can you please stop trying to kill me? I see that something is wrong and I’m trying to work it out too!” The cat hid on the wardrobe. ‘’I told you, you’re not my Katsuki, what have you done with him?”
‘’How the hell am I not that Katsuki? There’s only one Katsuki and It’s me!”
‘’Nuh-uh.” The cat, very slowly, neared the crease of the wardrobe and jumped down. It sniffed the air next to where Katsuki was standing all the while observing the man. ‘’You’re from a different world.” It stated matter-of-factly.
Katsuki wanted to start chasing the creature again for making him an idiot but the can was smarter this time.
‘’I know it sounds stupid but look around you! Is this your room?” This made his stop. ‘’Do you have a talking cat in your universe? And why are you trying to intimidate me with your open palm? Stop sticking it my way!” Shit, Katsuki’s done it instinctively.
‘’Listen, something is off and you are not the right Katsuki, not my Katsuki. You’re Not-Katsuki. I don’t know why this happened, I’ll try to find out though. Still you’re stuck with me here for a while so I night as well tell you my name.”
The cat hopped back on the desk, back bathing in the morning sun that made its fur shine in a weird pinkish manner.
‘’My name’s Black Cat and I’m your magical companion.” It bowed its head. ‘’My mission is, and has been for some time now, to help you achieve friendship and love. I’m like your Fairy Godmother. For the last year and a half I have been trying to help you and well it went…” Suddenly the cat went silent.
‘’It went what?”
‘’Let’s just say I had more diligent love-students under my paws for the last eternity or so.” To which Katsuki could only blink a few times because he never thought he would hear such a sentence in his life. ‘’Whatever place you came from, good news is, I can send you back.”
‘’Thank god, do it now.”
“The problem is-” The blonde groaned and the cat hissed. “Listen to me brat! The problem is making you travel to a parallel dimension will cost an immense amount of power, and I don’t have such a reserve right now!”
‘’Then focus or some shit.”
“It’s not like that. My power comes from you, you and your friendships and loves.”
“What do you want me to do!” Katsuki’s voice was getting alarmingly loud again.
‘’Shut it unless you want your mum to come in again and see you talking to an empty desk. Only you can see me, dummy.” The cat stuck out its small tongue. “What you have to do is find friendship and love big enough to gather tons of energy for me.”
“I’m not buying that shit.”
“Just, listen to me please. I want my Katsuki back. Besides you don’t know whether my Katsuki isn’t in your place now. What world do you come from?”
𖹭 Suddenly, Katsuki imagined a random guy, version of himself or whatever, with not idea what a quirk is, standing in his shoes. This could cost him all the hard work he’d put in over the years to become a hero. Heck, that guy could kill someone by accident if he never used his quirk.
𖹭 “I need to go back. Me, I mean him, everyone else, fuck it this is a piece of shit situation.”
Katsuki started to pace the room with the cat observing him carefully.
‘’What? My Katsuki is going to kill someone in your world?”
‘’I have a quirk - a superpower where I can create explosions out of my hands. It took me years to get rid of the reflex of exploding something anytime I got irritated. How do you think a version of me that never experienced this quirk will react?”
“Oh shit. We need to get you back quickly.”
“Mhm.” Katsuki nodded.
“Okay, listen. I know how we can pool enough energy for me to send you back.”
“I’m listening.”
The cat straightened and crossed his hands as if he was a human.
“For the last year and a half I’ve been trying to help my Katsuki by creating some meaningful friendships and confessing love to his crush. It did go somewhere, at least on the friends part, but not enough for me to ascend (so essentially leave him). If you could, in a short period of time, achieve what he couldn’t in over a year, we might be able to gather a lot of power that would not run away if you’re quick.”
“So, make friends and get a girl.”
“Essentially.”
“You’re lucky I’m good at winning.” Katsuki smirked.
“Well, it would be a win-win-win honestly. You’d go back to your world. My Katsuki would come back here straight into his dream-come-true and I could finally leave him.”
“You don’t seem to like him/me.”
“I’m more on the lazy side while my Katsuki was a handful.” The cat lied down showing its belly. “But there’s one thing I must warn you about. I am tied to my Katsuki, not you. As my Katsuki is somewhere in your hand-explosion world he can no longer make wishes and dreams about this reality. What this means is that if you fail to make his highschool dreams come true you’ll most probably be stuck in this world forever. Stuck with me at that because I can only leave you if you’re happy enough or dead. You have only one shot at this. Also, if it’ll take you too long to make all the wishes come true I won’t be able to gather enough power at one time to blast you back home.
Are you still in?”
Katsuki neared the desk which made the cat stumble onto its side. The morning sun made the blonde’s eyes glint with irritation but a smirk was plastered on his face. Crossing his arms on his chest he looked down on the cat.
“I already told you I always fucking win.”
“Please never tell me about your homeworld. I don’t want to know what mended you into this shape.”

Uncovered Part 3
Alpha!Bakugo x Omega!Reader
A/N: surprise! Have another part today
Summary: Alpha!Bakugo finds out that you’ve secretly been an Omega all this time
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7a8d27233a7cb4c7bfa6f52448bd836b/9bbfdd55503497ca-d0/s500x750/7c6d52fc42638336c2285083d7d751ac412c899d.jpg)
Part 1 Part 2
Bakugo stood with his fist poised, ready to knock on the front door to your apartment— that was until he dropped his hand to the side for the umpteenth time that night.
”Fuck— this is so fucking stupid,” he growled, yearning to just punch a goddamn hole in the wall and just leave already.
It was late anyway, you were probably asleep by now. He could just come back tomorrow morning.
He took a step back and turned… that’s what he’ll do, he’ll come back tomorrow morning before you’re meant to report to the agency for work—
He stopped.
“FUCK—“ Bakugo slammed his fist hard against your front door three times.
After a few beats he was greeted with the door being swung open and you standing exasperated on the other side.
Almost immediately you rolled your eyes, shaking your head, “No. Go home—“ you went to shut the door but Bakugo shoved his foot in the door before you could.
”We need to talk,” He muttered gruffly, peering down at you with hard eyes.
Your nostrils flared as you stared back up at him with an indignant look, “I have nothing to say to you—“
”Have you been crying?” The words flew past his lips as he took in your appearance. You were dressed in pajamas, no doubt already in bed for the night when he came, and your eyes were swollen and watery as if you had just finished sobbing your eyes out.
You huffed, “Go. Home.”
The two of you stared each other down for another moment before Bakugo forced himself forward and shoved himself inside, throwing you off balance and stumbling backwards, unable to stop him.
Bakugo glanced around your apartment. It was nice— expensive. It was expected of a hero of your notoriety, but even more so due to the fact you were a legacy hero. He wouldn’t lie, despite being relatively close friends ever since Raccoon Eyes all but adopted you into the group during first year, he always did chalk you up to just being another rich kid from another long line of heroes that got everything handed to them on a silver platter.
He realized with faint recognition that this was the first time he had set foot in your place. You never invited anyone over, always assuming you just liked your privacy but now… he was sure it was more than that.
Bakugo heard the click of the door shutting behind him, followed by a defeated sigh.
“Why are you here Bakugo?” You asked, clearly exhausted, walking past him and deeper into the apartment as you made your way to the kitchen.
”Hah?” He sneered incredulously, following in tow, “You’re really going to ask me that after what happened this afternoon?”
“I’ve been watching the news all day— you haven’t told anyone yet,” you muttered, reaching the top of your fridge for a bottle of sake.
”Of course I didn’t tell dumbass.”
You threw him a resentful glance over your shoulder, “Well why not?” You spat before unscrewing the top of the bottle and taking a swig before finally seating yourself down at the kitchen island.
Bakugo rounded the island, slamming his hands down on the counter across from you, “How low do you think I am—?”
Your head snapped up, locking your gaze with his once more, ”Pretty fucking low considering I found you going through my shit!— I mean, who even does that!? What were you even trying to find—“
”You’re changing the subject!” Bakugo rushed, ears tinging pink knowing the truth of why he even looked in the first place was embarrassing enough.
There was a pregnant pause before you finally rolled your eyes and took another swig— it didn’t even matter at this point did it? Your life may as well be over anyway…
“What do you want?” You finally sighed, resigned to whatever the rest of this interaction was going to be.
”I want to understand,” he replied, more even and controlled than his previous outbursts, “How have you hid this for so long? —And who else knows about you.”
You exhaled sharply through your nose, fingering the rim of your sake bottle in thought. “Why should I even tell you?”
”I’m not going to say anything.”
“That is until you change your mind.”
”I won’t.” He hissed, “I’m not going to get your license revoked— now will you just answer me.”
You continued to remain silent, making him huff in frustration.
”The cold.”
Your eyes slid to his, confusion painting your face, “What?”
”The cold,” he reiterated, clearly annoyed, “It’s my main weakness.”
You narrowed your eyes, “I already know that—“
”I’m just saying— if I tell… then you tell. I have a lot of enemies that would pay for that kinda information.”
You were quiet once more, eyeing him and weighing his words. His own gaze was unrelenting, pinning you in your seat. Bakugo was many things but you never really knew him to go back on his word…
”You’re the only one other than my family, doctor, and trainer that knows,” you sighed, taking a swig, “That’s how we’ve kept it secret, parents that hired a doctor and trainer to mix up the perfect cocktail of drugs and regimens to pass me off as an Alpha. That and a whole lot of hush money.” You muttered sarcastically.
”Why?”
”Why?” You scoffed, “Because I’m a (Y/L/N). We don’t have Omegas, everyone in my family has been born an Alpha and then has trained to become a hero for generations.”
”But you guys do have an Omega.”
You shot him a glare, “Yeah, I’m well aware asshole.”
”So what? Making you a hero was going to somehow save your family name?”
“Yes. That’s exactly what it is. And I was doing a fine job of it too until you decided to stick your nose in places it doesn’t belong.”
Bakugo finally took a seat, “You all actually think you can keep this a secret?” He asked incredulously.
You quirked a brow, “I am.”
He pursed his lips… technically that was true, but more so because it would have been unthinkable that an Omega would have managed to get as far as you have in this field.
Honestly it was a goddamn miracle you even managed to get into class 1-A to begin with.
If it wasn’t for that he probably would have believed you were at least a Beta if not an Omega, especially as your scent gave no indication…
Bakugo perked up, “Why don’t you smell like an Omega?”
“Drugs,” you shrugged, “My brothers also scent me to mask whatever’s left.”
”And what about—“ heats, Bakugo caught himself before he could say it, the realization hitting him over the head like a ton of bricks. You experience heats. A blush spread across his cheeks, mind suddenly clouded by images of you locked away in your bedroom and—
“What about what?” You asked him impatiently, “Are we done here yet? You already get the gist and if I still have a job in the morning then I need to go to bed now.” You stood up, rounding the kitchen island back towards the front door with Bakugo following behind hesitantly. He still had so many questions but was suddenly and actually aware that you were an Omega… he had never been very tactful around Omegas before.
You stood by the now open door, waiting for him to leave.
And so he did, but not before you stopped him with one final thing left to say. You had stopped him with a grip on his bicep, peering up at him with serious eyes, “You need to be aware of how you treat me in public going forward. If you start pulling some Alpha bullshit and favoring me on missions or doting on me in front of our friends I will make sure every one of your enemies finds out Dynamight can’t handle the cold. Understood?”
He bared his teeth and in a low whisper said, “Don’t get such a big head— you’re still an extra to me.”
With that he had tugged his arm from your grasp and headed out.
He would never admit that what you had said was exactly what had been weighing on his mind since he found the pill bottle.

➻❥ 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: 18+, roommates au, best friends to ?, angst, fluff, implied smut (for teaser)
➻❥ 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: mentions of sex, cursing, kelsey is a bitch (full fic will all all the warnings)
➻❥ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬: 753 for the teaser; actual fic will be over 8k
➻❥ 𝐀𝐍: This for the collab "Lonely Hearts Cafe", hosted by @camandemstudios. I plan to post it on Valentines day :)
You are in love with Hansol.
Hopelessly, stupidly, trip over your feet when he’s around, butterflies in your stomach kind of love. He’s everything you could want in a guy and your best friend, someone you can just chill with no expectations. You both love Star Wars, attend anime cons together, and are allergic to peanuts. You share a home with him and it feels like home in your heart when he’s near. You’re in love with Hansol. There is only one problem: he has an on-and-off girlfriend.
A girlfriend you particularly hate.
Kelsey is always around, taking up your space, and it’s aggravating. You wish you could say that it’s not serious, but to your chagrin, they have been on and off for a couple of years. It’s bad enough that you can’t tell Hansol how you feel, but then you have his girlfriend, a huge social media influencer, always at your condo every time you’re there. You would think she would like to take her “influence " elsewhere. It’s exacerbating.
“Hey there girl,” Kelsey calls out as you walk to the kitchen. She is sprawled out with her laptop on your living room floor rug, wearing a cut-off shirt, the tiniest shorts you have ever seen, and knee-high socks. Where does she live again?
“What’s up?” you respond, barely hiding the irritation in your voice.
“Oof, you’re definitely not a morning person,” she scoffs. “Do you think you can stay out tonight? Vernon has this Hollywood thing he has to attend to tonight, and he is stressed about it. So I want to help him relax if you know what I mean.”
You raise your eyebrows at her referring to him as Vernon, which he only tells his coworkers to call him. Hansol is a cinematographer, and a damned good one. He works for a major film studio and is invited to parties all the time. He only goes for the free food and booze, he says, because those people don’t care about anything but themselves and their pockets, let alone pronouncing his first name correctly.
Kelsey is not a coworker; she is, unfortunately, his girlfriend. Why doesn’t she call him by his preferred name?
“What does you wanting to help Hansol relax have to do with me being here?” you ask, making yourself a cup of coffee.
“Well.” She clicks her tongue. “It’ll be pretty awkward for me to be blowing his brains out while you’re here, ya know?”
You bite your lip to keep yourself from saying what is on your mind, instead focusing on making your elaborate coffee with whipped cream and caramel syrup on top. This girl really has some nerve.
“Kelsey,” you let out a small sigh. “I’m not leaving my house because you want to fuck. Do whatever you please.” You slam the whipped cream can on the container. “It’s nothing I haven’t heard before.”
Irritated, you walk past her and speed into the hallway, almost running into Hansol, who is leaving his bedroom. Wearing a red shirt and pajama pants, he has bedroom hair and a hint of sleep in his eyes. He looks adorable.
“Where are you running off to?” His voice is deep and groggy.
“I am running away from that peach of a girlfriend you have in there.” You roll your eyes. “Plus, I have to get ready for work.”
“Oh no, what did she do now?”
“Nothing, aside from asking me to stay out of the condo that I pay for tonight so she can fuck you as loud as she wants,” you say bluntly.
Hansol’s eyes widen in shock, the little sleepiness he had evaporated. “She didn’t say that?”
“She just about said that,” you sigh, leaning on the wall. “Look, I have to get ready for my day, but we have to have a conversation later. Not tonight, because I know that party is happening. But at some point, we do.”
“Okay,” he says, looking at the floor. “I’m sorry.”
“No need to be sorry,” you sigh again, deeply this time. “Let’s just chat soon, okay?”
You step into your room and shut the door, your heart beating out of your chest. That was not a conversation you want to have early in the morning, and Kelsey being around more and more makes you erratic. Eventually, a conversation will have to be had about how much time she is spending here and everything. But right now, you will sip your elaborate coffee and try to get through the day.

summary: for an assignment you are tasked to lose a guy in ten days, the guy happening to be the one and only finnick odair.
pairings: finnick odair x journalist!reader
authors note: this has been sitting its ass in my drafts for the past few days but i finally got around to writing it, my brain was full of ideas and i couldn’t choose
parts: chapter one, other chapters coming soon.
journalism had been your dream since you had been able to read and write, you used to steal your mothers newspaper just to study the way people wrote, the beauty in reading how other people shared their thoughts, their opinions on things.
an outlet.
though of-course you hadn’t expected it to be so hard to achieve, so controlling, that you’d practically be unable to write what you want to but what you have to.
“you want me to what?” your jaw dropped, the woman, your boss, who stood before you, a clear grin in her face. “well, ever since katniss and peeta won the games, love is in! it’s all the rage here in the capitol.”
you wanted to roll your eyes. “love is a trend? i don’t see how that’s—”
“nevermind the logistics of it.” your boss waves you off. “you are a desirable woman, i want you to write a piece on what not to do, dating wise, i want you to find a guy, a cute one, date him for ten days, and drive him away, write about it so our love obsessed citizens know what not to do.”
“isn’t that a little cruel?”
she scoffs. “choose someone who won’t care then, like..” she trails off, eyes glancing the room of the capitol victors party, katniss and peeta’s party, “what about gloss, he’s a good looking guy, a victor too.”
you glance over the boy, he was handsome, he was charming, and he had asked you out multiple times before, he was pushy, you gave your boss a apprehensive look, hoping this was just a time and you could forget about this whole ordeal and pass the assignment on to a apprentice.
“if you do this, i will give you your own column, to write about whatever you want.” she bribed, a wolfish grin on her face.
that caught your attention, you did desperately want to be able to have free reign over your work, your writing, to be able to express yourself through your work, and this might be your opportunity.
but to mess with someone’s emotions like that to get what you want, it was wrong.
“oh come on!” your boss scoffed. “i promise it won’t be personal, besides, you’re going to drive him away! he’s not going to care, he’ll be fed up with you by the end, you’re the only one of my employees that i trust is a good enough writer to write this!”
you bite your lip and sigh. “fine! but i get not a column, but a whole page, and i get to choose the guy!”
your boss mulls the idea over before sighing, a fed up sigh, punching her nose. “fine! if you must, a whole page just for you, now trot on— go find yourself a suitor.”
a glass of the capitols finest alcohol was in the capitols finest glass, in his hand. he had finally managed to fend off everyone asking for his autograph, questions about his game and lots of other pointless things too.
his game was almost ten years ago, you would think they’d be bored of him by now, with the way trends change here in the capitol, yet they haven’t.
gloss laughs at his exhausted look. “wow man, you look beat.”
“i am beat, i wish they’d all just leave me alone sometimes, all the time.” he corrects himself, sipping on the alcoholic beverage, the drink is sour, and stings as it goes down but once its in his system he can’t help but enjoy the buzz the drink gives him.
“get yourself a girl, distract yourself.” goss tells him patting his shoulder, finnick scoffed. “from the capitol no way.”
gloss shrugged, “i don’t know man, not all the chicks here are that bad.” he slurred.
“i’ll tell you what, let’s make a bet, see that girl over there.” gloss grabs him, spinning finnick around to face you, finnick noticed you right away, you were speaking to a very pink looking woman, her skin was dyed pink, and she wore pink from head to toe.
your clothes were more cooler tones, you still had a capitol look to you, clean, and it was quite clear you weren’t poor. you looked shy, like you wanted to be anywhere else but here, you didn’t fit in with the rest of the people that were in the room.
you intrigued him.
“she is extremely wanted round’ here.” he says with a grin. “i’ve tried it before, she will not let up, all the men here want her because she’s so untouchable, i will give you anything you want if you can make her fall in love with you, literally anything.”
finnick thought for a moment, there was really nothing he needed, but he was intrigued by you, and it couldn’t hurt, besides, gloss said he could have anything, and finnick had a couple of things in mind.

𝕮𝖍𝖆𝖕𝖙𝖊𝖗 𝟔
𝐖𝐂: 𝟐.𝟖𝐊
ℑ 𝔩𝔬𝔳𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲, '𝔱𝔦𝔩 𝔎𝔦𝔫𝔤𝔡𝔬𝔪 ℭ𝔬𝔪𝔢
The corridors of the castle were quiet in the early morning, save for the soft padding of Y/N’s footsteps against the marble floors. The storm from the previous night had left the air crisp and fresh, but the tension lingering in Y/N’s chest had nothing to do with the weather.
She hadn’t slept well. Not after what had almost happened between her and Minjeong under the stone archway. Not after the way they had nearly kissed—only to be interrupted at the last possible moment. The memory had replayed in her mind endlessly, leaving her restless, her thoughts tangled in something she wasn’t ready to name.
She was lost in those thoughts when she turned a corner—and froze.
Minjeong stood just a few feet away, exiting a noblewoman’s chambers.
The woman in question—a lady of high standing from Argoriath—stood at the doorway, dressed in a robe of deep burgundy, her hair slightly tousled as if she had just woken up. She smiled at Minjeong as she spoke, her voice too soft for Y/N to hear.
Y/N’s stomach twisted painfully.
Minjeong, oblivious to Y/N’s presence, nodded at whatever was said before offering the woman a polite bow. Then, without another word, she turned, heading down the hall.
Right toward Y/N.
Minjeong barely had time to register the storm brewing in Y/N’s expression before she spoke. “I see you’ve had a busy morning.”
Minjeong frowned, her steps slowing. “What?”
Y/N let out a sharp, humorless laugh. “Didn’t take you for the type to warm someone’s bed and then stroll out like nothing happened.”
Minjeong’s eyes widened slightly, but she quickly masked it with a scowl. “What the hell are you talking about?”
Y/N folded her arms, her nails digging into the fabric of her sleeves. “I saw you, Minjeong. Walking out of her chambers.” She scoffed, shaking her head. “Was this all just a game to you?”
Minjeong’s patience, already frayed from lack of sleep, snapped. “Are you serious right now?”
Y/N’s jaw clenched. “I trusted you.”
Minjeong let out a sharp exhale, stepping closer. “And yet, you’re so quick to assume the worst of me.”
Y/N didn’t back down. “What else am I supposed to think? You’ve been getting closer to me, acting like you care, and then I see you leaving another woman’s chambers at dawn?”
Minjeong ran a hand through her hair, frustration evident in every movement. “I was discussing politics, Y/N. Nothing more.”
Y/N’s breath hitched, but she didn’t let her expression waver. “And I’m just supposed to believe that?”
Minjeong’s eyes flashed. “Yes, you are. Because if you actually knew me—if you actually trusted me—you wouldn’t be standing here throwing accusations at me like I’m some unfaithful lover.”
Y/N flinched, but she masked it with anger. “Maybe I don’t know you as well as I thought.”
Minjeong let out a bitter laugh. “Apparently not.”
The silence between them was deafening, charged with unspoken words and emotions neither of them were willing to name.
Minjeong exhaled, forcing herself to stay composed even as frustration burned inside her. “Do you honestly believe I’d betray you like that?”
Y/N shook her head, but her voice wavered when she spoke. “I don’t know, Minjeong. I don’t know anything anymore.”
Minjeong scoffed. “You think I’d throw everything away for a meaningless fling?”
Y/N’s expression tightened. “I don’t know what to think! I saw you leaving her chambers, Minjeong! What else am I supposed to believe?”
Minjeong’s nostrils flared as she fought for patience. “You’re supposed to believe me when I tell you the truth.”
Y/N let out a sharp exhale, running a hand over her face. “You don’t get it.”
Minjeong shook her head, her voice rising. “Then explain it to me!”
Y/N’s gaze snapped to hers, her eyes shining with something dangerously close to heartbreak. “I care about you, Minjeong.”
Minjeong’s breath caught. The words hit her harder than she expected.
Y/N swallowed hard before continuing, her voice quieter now. “And it terrifies me. Because just when I think we’re finally on the same page, I see something like this, and it feels like I’m just setting myself up to be hurt.”
Minjeong’s expression softened for half a second before she steeled herself again. “I wouldn’t do that to you.”
Y/N let out a broken laugh. “I want to believe that.”
Minjeong shook her head, stepping back. “But you don’t.”
Y/N remained silent, and the lack of response was louder than anything else.
Minjeong clenched her fists at her sides. “You know what? Forget it. Believe whatever you want, Y/N. I’m done explaining myself.”
Minjeong turned sharply, her boots clicking against the marble floors as she stalked away, her shoulders tense, her movements stiff with barely contained frustration. Y/N watched her go, arms still crossed over her chest, but her hands trembled slightly, fingers digging into the fabric of her sleeves.
Minjeong didn’t look back, but the further she walked, the more her anger twisted into something heavier. Hurt. Disappointment. The lingering echo of Y/N’s words looped through her mind, over and over.
Y/N cared. But she didn’t trust her.
And Minjeong wasn’t sure which one hurt more.
As she reached the end of the corridor, she found herself gripping the wall for support, inhaling sharply as frustration warred with something dangerously close to heartbreak. Y/N’s accusation had cut deep, deeper than Minjeong had expected. After everything, how could Y/N believe she would betray her so easily?
A servant walking past hesitated at the sight of Minjeong’s rigid stance, but one sharp look had them scurrying away. Minjeong didn’t have the patience to be seen like this, to be vulnerable in the open.
Y/N, meanwhile, remained rooted to the spot. Her anger simmered, but beneath it was something worse—regret. But she couldn’t bring herself to chase after Minjeong, not when she was still so unsure. Because if she was wrong… if Minjeong was telling the truth… then she had just hurt the one person who had been proving, again and again, that she was worth trusting.
But if she was right?
She clenched her jaw, her heart aching in a way she refused to name.
Neither of them slept well that night.

The castle had never felt so suffocating.
Y/N threw herself into her duties with an almost reckless fervor. Meetings, council discussions, diplomatic briefings—anything to keep her mind occupied. Anything to drown out the lingering ache that settled in her chest every time she thought of Minjeong.
And she thought of her often.
Minjeong had always been an unavoidable presence in her life, but now, with the sharp edge of their last conversation still cutting deep, her absence was louder than ever. The corridors felt colder without their usual bickering. The training grounds felt emptier without Minjeong’s voice taunting her, pushing her to be better. Even meals in the grand hall were dull without the occasional brush of Minjeong’s shoulder or the way her eyes would flicker toward Y/N when she thought no one was looking.
And yet, Y/N avoided her at every turn.
She made sure their schedules never overlapped. If she heard Minjeong was in the library, she would take her work to the gardens. If Minjeong was training in the courtyard, Y/N would conveniently have an urgent meeting to attend. It was pathetic, really, but Y/N didn’t trust herself. Not when her emotions were still raw, not when she wasn’t sure if the anger she had felt was justified or if it had been driven by something deeper—something she wasn’t ready to face.
“She’s been asking about you.”
Y/N glanced up from the endless scrolls of trade negotiations spread out before her. Queen Irene stood by the window, her arms crossed as she studied her daughter carefully.
Y/N’s fingers tightened around the parchment. “Who?”
Irene’s lips twitched in mild amusement. “Don’t play coy. You know exactly who.”
Y/N exhaled, setting the scroll aside. “I’m busy, Mother.”
“Too busy to see your future wife?”
Y/N flinched at the title. It was a reminder of how inevitable Minjeong was in her life, no matter how much space she tried to put between them.
Irene sighed, stepping closer. “You can’t avoid her forever, Y/N.”
“I’m not avoiding her.” It was a weak defense, and Irene raised an unimpressed brow. Y/N sighed, rubbing her temples. “I just need time.”
“Time for what?”
“To figure out if I was right,” Y/N admitted, her voice quieter now. “Or if I just… ruined everything for nothing.”
Irene studied her for a long moment before nodding. “Then figure it out. But don’t take too long.”
Y/N swallowed, nodding in return, but even as she turned back to her work, she knew the words wouldn’t leave her alone.
Because deep down, she already knew the answer.
She missed Minjeong.
Terribly.

The sound of clashing steel echoed through the training grounds.
Minjeong moved like a storm, relentless and wild, her blade meeting her opponent’s with sharp, unyielding precision. Her breaths were short and controlled, her muscles burning with exertion, but she didn’t stop. She couldn’t.
“Again,” she demanded, stepping back just enough to reset her stance.
Her knight—an older, seasoned warrior named Sir Baek—exhaled sharply, gripping his training sword tighter. “Your Highness, you should take a break.”
Minjeong ignored him, lunging forward with renewed aggression. Her strikes were faster, harder, driven by something beyond discipline—something dangerously close to desperation.
Baek barely blocked in time, his stance faltering. “Minjeong.” His voice held warning now. “You’re fighting like you’re trying to exorcise a ghost.”
She gritted her teeth, pivoting swiftly and forcing him back. “Maybe I am.”
Baek parried another hit, scowling. “This isn’t training anymore. You’re trying to hurt yourself.”
Minjeong’s blade came down in a brutal arc, colliding with Baek’s sword so forcefully that the impact sent a jarring vibration through her arms. For a moment, she just stood there, breathing heavily, jaw clenched.
Baek took the opportunity to shove her back with his sword hilt—not hard, but enough to snap her out of it. “That’s enough.”
Minjeong staggered slightly but didn’t protest. Sweat clung to her skin, her heart hammering in her chest.
Baek sheathed his sword with a sigh. “Whatever’s eating at you, deal with it outside of the training grounds.”
Minjeong exhaled sharply, running a hand through her damp hair. “I am dealing with it.”
Baek shook his head. “No, you’re avoiding it.” He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “Is this about Princess Y/N?”
Minjeong’s grip on her sword tightened.
Baek let out a knowing hum. “Thought so.”
Minjeong didn’t answer. Couldn’t. Because the truth was, the more she fought, the more she pushed herself past exhaustion, the clearer one agonizing fact became.
She didn’t want to fight Y/N.
She just wanted her back.

The night was eerily quiet.
Minjeong had barely settled in her chambers, still restless from the day’s training, when the first distant shouts pierced the air. At first, she thought it was nothing more than the usual disturbances from the night watch—perhaps a drunken noble causing trouble.
Then the screams started.
Minjeong was on her feet instantly, grabbing the sword she had only just set aside. A loud crash echoed through the corridors, followed by the unmistakable clang of steel against steel. The castle was under attack.
She shoved open her doors just as a soldier in unfamiliar armor ran past. No crest of Argoriath, no royal insignia of Mindor—this was an invading force.
Minjeong didn’t hesitate. She strode forward, intercepting one of the soldiers as he rounded the corner. He barely had time to register her presence before her blade found his side, a swift, precise strike that sent him crumpling to the ground.
Another clash of metal rang out from deeper within the castle. Minjeong turned sharply, her mind racing. The infiltration was too swift, too coordinated. She looked out the window, and when she saw the house sigil of the House of Lee, she knew. This wasn’t just an attack—this was a coup.
A coup led by Lord Mark.
Her blood ran cold at the realization.
She needed to find Y/N.
But first, she had to fight her way to her.
Minjeong sprinted down the hallway, her boots slamming against the marble floors as she made her way toward the main stairwell. As she descended, she spotted a group of castle guards engaged in battle against the invaders. The guards, though well-trained, were outnumbered. The enemy’s forces were small, but they moved with deadly precision, cutting through the castle’s defenses with terrifying efficiency.
Without hesitation, Minjeong joined the fray. She parried an incoming sword strike, twisting her blade to disarm her opponent before landing a sharp kick to his chest, sending him sprawling backward. Another enemy lunged toward her, but she sidestepped, slashing her sword across his arm before finishing him with a swift strike to the neck.
The guards around her fought fiercely, but for every enemy they took down, more seemed to appear. Minjeong gritted her teeth, blocking another strike before countering with one of her own. Blood sprayed across the cold stone floors, but she didn’t stop. She couldn’t stop.
A guard beside her fell, a dagger buried in his back. Minjeong barely had time to process it before another enemy advanced, forcing her to meet his attack. Their blades clashed, sparks flying as she pushed forward, her muscles burning with effort. She could feel the weight of the battle pressing down on her, the reality of the situation sinking in.
This was no mere rebellion. This was an orchestrated overthrow.
And they were running out of time.
With one final slash, Minjeong took down her opponent and turned toward the remaining guards. “We need to push forward! We can’t let them take the throne room!”
One of the senior guards, his face streaked with blood and sweat, nodded grimly. “Agreed. But they’re coming from all sides, Your Highness. We need a strategy.”
Minjeong’s mind worked quickly, assessing the situation. “Half of you, hold the main stairwell. The rest, follow me. We cut through their forces and secure the royal chambers.”
With renewed determination, she pushed forward, her sword slicing through the chaos as she led the charge deeper into the castle.
She didn’t know what awaited her ahead, but she knew one thing for certain.
She had to reach Y/N before it was too late.
As Minjeong and her guards fought their way through the corridors, she heard a scream—one that sent an icy spike of fear down her spine.
Y/N.
Minjeong’s focus sharpened. She cut down another soldier before sprinting toward the direction of the sound, her heart pounding wildly. She turned the corner and froze.
Y/N was fighting, her sword clashing against an enemy’s, but she was outnumbered. Two soldiers flanked her, while a third advanced from behind. Even as she fought valiantly, Minjeong saw the inevitable play out in slow motion—one soldier managed to grab Y/N’s arm, twisting it behind her back, while another struck the hilt of her sword, knocking it to the ground with a deafening clang.
“No!” Minjeong shouted, her voice raw.
She surged forward, but she was too late.
It wasn’t just any soldier holding Y/N captive.
It was Mark.
He grinned as he yanked Y/N against him, his arm coiling tightly around her waist while his free hand pressed a dagger to her throat. Y/N thrashed, trying to break free, but Mark was stronger than he looked. “Ah, ah, Princess,” he taunted, his voice dangerously smooth. “Wouldn’t want to spill royal blood so soon, would we?”
Minjeong’s grip on her sword tightened so hard her knuckles turned white. “Let. Her. Go.”
Mark chuckled, as if the entire situation amused him. “You really think you’re in any position to make demands?” He pressed the dagger just a fraction closer to Y/N’s throat, making her freeze. “Drop your sword, Minjeong.”
Minjeong’s heart hammered wildly. If she dropped her weapon, she’d be vulnerable. But if she didn’t—
Y/N caught her gaze, eyes pleading.
Minjeong exhaled sharply, pure rage burning through her veins. “You’re making a mistake, Mark.”
Mark smirked. “No, Minjeong. I’m fixing one.”
With that, he dragged Y/N backward into the shadows, disappearing down the corridor.
Minjeong roared in frustration, lunging forward, but more soldiers blocked her path, forcing her to engage. Her blade clashed against theirs, her strikes wild with desperation, but she couldn’t break through in time.
She could only watch as Y/N was taken from her, vanishing into the depths of the castle.
A hollow, bone-deep rage settled in Minjeong’s chest.
This wasn’t over.
Not by a long shot.
