ok now that I have binged stocean some things that I can talk about in a non spoilery way:

- kinda sad they didn't change the op much...it was so tailor-made for the first batch of episodes theres like no hints to anything that happens in these 12 episodes in there (hopefully when they DO change it its gonna be a banger) (also not blaming dp on this if netflix doesn't increase their budget OR production time)

- in general the animation is WAYYYY better in this one u can tell they saved up from batch 1 big time (way less jarring cgi too)

- soundtrack: am I insane or are there still like 6 tracks and everything else is reused from other parts? all I can discern are jolynes theme, a like new stand/weird situation theme, a silly funny theme, villian theme, sad theme and weather report theme....like none of the other characters even have themes??? was there something about covid that they couldn't record more or are the composers songs just that similar at this point? (imo also smth that happened in p5 there were like 10 different iterations of the Giogio theme in there)

-sadly not much rearranging of material to make the slow part of p6 (imo) much more enjoyable....its only a tiny part of this batch but still...I miss diu levels of improving the story-_-

KC AND METALLICA MY BEST FRIENDDDDDD listen its gross but thats one of the things I love about it. like the bullshittery and the thought process from each fighter AND MY FRIEND KCCC WOOOOO its so good I rewatch it so fucking often [and then cry at ep28 to humble myself] Another one of my fav fights is Bites The Dusts and Made In Heaven because these two terrify me sooo much like THE HORRORS. BTD with how I was constantly worried shaking and crying over who was gonna die [and listen. you didn't hear it from me but when I thought rohan was gonna die I was CRYINGGGGG like tears down my face it was kind of gross] and MIH is just auauhghghghgh the HORRRORSSSSSSSS like what the fuck.... it did everything it had to do RIGHT but it hurt so fucking much and that damn ending. makes me want to explode anyways teehe "you daughter is your weakness" Dies

Love Deluxe, Purpy haze and Spice girl. first off ik this is more of just the character instead of stand but shhhhh Yukako could've bodied fucking everyone in that damn cast she'd get kira in one hit as she should! Akira and Yukako are siblings its true to me it happened and its real like they're SOOO SIBLINGS. they are going to the powerlines and throwing bricks at it and causing electrical damages I could talk about them for hours

I RLLY LIKE THE ONE where the reason Jolyne can turn her midriff into a Mobius strip for the strings is that Jotaro was so traumatized from seeing Kakyoin having a hole in his stomach he passed that trauma onto her and it was a form of protection so she'd never have to go through that again. there's this one post from a couple years ago that says this beautifully but i don't think i can find it

anyways. funny one next: Tiziano almost exclusively uses toxic paints because "theyre the best quality" best friend that's mercury you're snorting

Fugo cut those holes as a way to 'stay clean' from self harm and as a reminder that he's not touched. victim to victim communication

Scarface Versus Snorky.

Setting: Larry is still the night guard, several exhibits from the Smithsonian are at the Museum of Natural History

Characters: Al Capone, Napoleon Bonaparte, Ivan the Terrible (Awesome), Larry Daley, Teddy Roosevelt, Sacagawea, Jedediah Smith, Octavius, Ahkmenrah, Shaka Zulu, several Zulu tribe members, Dr. Richard McPhee, several Mobsters, Antonio Villalobos, Mariana Villalobos, Ramón Espina, Doctor Jess McClain, Docteur Alain Chaput

Genre/Warnings: Some slightly graphic violence, Foul language, Fic inspired by a song, I’ll come up with more tags later,  Chapter names may change later

Notes: I listened to the song “Bad Bad Leroy Brown” by Jim Croce about a thousand times and decided I just HAD to make a fic.  The reason Al and the boys get made into color (as a plot point) is so everyone can see what happens to Al.

If anyone is OOC or this reads like a Dick & Jane, this is my second posted fic and I haven’t done much writing in the NATM field. (Disclaimer: I don’t own the song, nor the characters.) (If anything suddenly changes, I had to fix a mistake I missed.)

(I am starting to see why they say “The beginning and end are easy, the middle is hard.”  this chapter is either going to be good, or real fucking boring, you decide.)

Word count: 1,300

Summary: Al and the boys practically beg (Though they won’t stoop so far as to say they were actually begging.) for him and his gang to be colored up like everyone else.  Finally one day they get a paint-job, despite McPhee’s ever-present paranoia; Capone and the gang being popular in grey-scale.  Several weeks after they finally get what they want, Al gets in a fight, and doesn’t come out of it well.  Luckily for him Napoleon is compassionate enough to put up with Al’s grating personality to help him.

Thank God Larry got a bottle of fleshtone latex for Halloween.

Disguising Al’s stitching for every morning was far easier than he’d thought it would be.

Al was ready for this nightmare to be over.  ‘Change his bandages once a day.’

Napoleon is nothing if not dutiful.  He’s done just as prescribed, every day, the past couple days.  Al is getting sick of it.

Al sits on the desk, slapping Napoleon’s hand away for the second time.

“Quit tryna mollycoddle me, I can do it myself!”

“I plan to do as Docteur Chaput told, you cannot stop me.”

Al slaps his hand away again.

Everyone hears an angry screech from the office.

“They were doing so well...”  Teddy sighs, unwrapping himself from Sacagawea.

“I thought it was amusing, their little vendetta.  Now it’s annoying.”  She chuckles.

“I laughed the first time as well, but since they’ve been consistently interrupting our evenings...”  Teddy rubs his temples.

“We really should go see what they’re doing.  If Al breaks his stitching it could make things worse.”  Sacagawea stands and pulls Teddy off of the bench and through the doorway.

“Come on!  Really guys?”  Larry stares at the two.

“He keeps changin’ my bandages, and I already told him, I can do it myself!”

Napoleon puts all of his weight on Al’s stomach and tightens his grip on Al’s chin, dangerously close to the wounds on his cheek, making Al squint.

“I told the docteur I would change them, I refuse to go back on my word!”

Larry sighs and scrubs a hand over his face.

“Get up, guys.  Al, let Napoleon dress your wounds.”

“Aw, come on!”

Napoleon grins triumphantly once they’re both righted.

“Sit.”  Napoleon points at the desk. 

Larry gives them both a pointed look and leaves, meeting Teddy and Sac in the hallway and closing the door.

“I have a question.”

“Shoot, Nippy.”

“When I described your injuries, you looked and sounded...  Distraught.  Why?”

Al’s eyes search the wall over Napoleon’s shoulder.  “It’s nothing, Shortstack...”

Napoleon knits his eyebrows together but doesn’t press on.  He’s seen trauma, mild to severe, physical and emotional, and thinks he should give Al some time before asking again.

That doesn’t mean he won’t look into Al’s history to see if that gives him any information, though.

Napoleon walks towards Al’s room.  He spots a group of Al’s gangsters near by.  He catches a fleeting bit of their whispered conversation, where they lean on the wall opposite the Al Capone exhibit.

“Damn, Big Boy looks rough.  I ain’t never seen him this bad.”

“Yeah, even when they first started callin’ him Scarface he didn’t look so...  Depressed?”

“Least we can do is start callin’ him Snorky again, what do ya say, Ralph?”

“Best idea you’ve had in a while, Tony.”

Napoleon looks into the room from the doorway.

Al is looking at a hand mirror dejectedly, lifting the latex carefully and examining the stitches.

Napoleon gets a few steps into the room before Al’s men grab him by the arms.

“Ehi! Miullu, i idioti!“

Al almost drops the mirror.  He spins around and holds up a hand to keep the gangsters from dragging Napoleon to the door.

“French Toast, what the Hell are ya doin’ here?”

“I wanted to remind you to meet me in the office, evidently your men dislike my commitment.”

“Nippy, don’t be dramatic, I told em to keep everyone out.  Thanks for remindin’ me though...”

“Monsieur Daley, can you teach me how to use that, uh, laptop?”

“Yeah sure, what do you want to look up?”

Napoleon fumbles for a moment.

“No that’s alright, you don’t have to tell me.  Here, sit...  Now see the keys?  Press them gently to make words...”

Napoleon accidentally runs twelve W’s into the search bar, causing Larry to snicker.

“Now you know that can happen, use the backspace to erase all but one.”

Napoleon is a little less heavy-handed this time.

There, now if you can manage to spell everything well enough-  Don’t give me that look, I know how spelling worked back in your days.  Anyway you should get the results you want.  Press the enter key when you wanna make it search.”

Larry holds the mouse and slides it around.

“Use this to click on things-”  He deliberately clicks it a few times.  “-And that little X in the corner will close everything.”

“Grazie, Monsieur Daley.”

“No problemo.  I’m gonna go do a round, catch you later.”

Larry pats him on the back and walks off

Napoleon, backspacing the remaining W and, carefully selecting keys, types out ‘Al Capone injuries’.

The little circle spins, then ‘The infectious disease that sprung Al Capone from Alcatraz.’

“I hope the tablet got rid of that...”

Napoleon moves the little hand down and clicks on one link simply titled ‘Al Capone’, and hopes for the best.

Luck is on his side.  To the right side of the screen is what is presumably a photo of Al when he was older, in black and white.  He’s wearing a nice dark grey three piece suit, a shiny, striped tie, white shirt and pocket square, and a shiny watch chain.  He’s also gained weight and lost hair.  The banner under the photo reads ‘Al Capone in 1930.’

“Yet he pokes at me because of the paintings I commissioned when I was in my forties.  It must run in Italian blood...  Or it’s all the bread and cheese.”

Al was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.

“That’s not very far from the museum, is it?  I wonder if I could convince Larry to take Al and myself there..”

His parents, Teresa and Gabriele, immigrated from Angri, Italy.

He had eight siblings, six brothers and two sisters.

He did well in school but had difficulty following the rules at his parochial Catholic school.  He was expelled permanently at fourteen for hitting a female teacher.

“At least I didn’t hit my teachers, u mo Diu.“

He worked at a bowling alley and a candy store, and was influenced Johnny Torrio, whom he later regarded as a mentor.

First he got involved with the Junior Forty Thieves, then the Bowery Boys.  Then he joined the Brooklyn Rippers, and after that the powerful Five Points Gang.

He was employed by mentor and racketeer Frankie Yale, who tended bar at a dance hall and saloon called the Harvard Inn.

“Saloon?  I thought that was only in the West in the eighteen seventies?”

Al inadvertently insulted a woman while working at the door of a nightclub in Brooklyn and was slashed by her brother Frank Gallucio.

“Oh...”

Napoleon opens a new tab, searches ‘Al Capone scars’ and pulls up a photo that marks each slash with a number.

They match scarily close to the fresh ones on the side of Al’s face now.

Napoleon’s mouth falls open slightly and his eyebrows pull together.  He switches back to the other tab.

The wounds caused people to give him the nickname ’Scarface’ which Al loathed.  His close friends called him 'Snorky', a word for sharp dresser.

“Ay Nippy, watcha doin’?”

Napoleon quickly closes out the browser and shuts the laptop, none-too-gracefully.  Al smirks at him.

“Thought we were gonna meet in the office, what have ya been doin’?”

“Nothing, I was looking something up.  None of your concern.”

“Mhm, ‘lookin’ something up.’  Be sure clear the history when you’re done.”

Al spins around and saunters off towards the office.

“So, Short Stuff, did you enjoy ‘lookin’ something up.’?  Was it...  Sexy?”

Napoleon pulls the latex off roughly.

“It was informative.  The two photographs I looked at were...  A bit attractive.  No contest with the real thing, though.”

“Yeah, I bet.”  Al pulls a knowing smirk.  He doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does though.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Live Action Movie Spoilers/Review!

Hello! I’m living in Japan right now, and was lucky enough to see the new live action Jojo movie!! I’m gonna talk about the stuff they changed and the stuff they added to the movie, as well as some very big spoilers so please be sure that youre okay with spoilers before reading this! If you want to wait until the movie is available subbed or dubbed that’s fine! This is just for anyone who really wants to know about the movie right now and doesn’t want to wait! There are some pretty big differences, but it’s your choice if you want to wait or learn about them now! 

I will also give my general impression and a little review at the end. 

First off I want to say that I thought all the actors did an excellent job. I can’t imagine the pressure of portraying such iconic characters, but I felt like everyone did a spot on job. In particular, Yusuke Iseya, Jotaro’s actor did fantastic. He let himself show more emotion than I was used to seeing with Jotaro’s character, but it really worked, and he was still able to pull off Jotaro’s “seriousness”. 

Second, I want to say is that it is an adaptation. I don’t think anyone was expecting every little thing to be the same as the manga, but I do want to make it clear that a lot of stuff was cut, and that the movie only covers up to chapter 18 of DiU. I am sorry if something you liked from the manga got cut or altered, but please remember that they couldn’t even get everything in the anime which had 39 episodes. The movie had a lot of heart and even though things were changed a lot was kept true to the manga’s plot and the characters! 

Important side note--There is NO animal cruelty in this movie. Angelo doesn’t attack the man with the dog, so if you were worried about that it’s okay! You won’t have to see any animal violence. 

Things Changed: 

--The movie apparently takes place in present day, and the characters use Cell Phones. 

--Angelo is still at large instead of in prison at the start of the movie. He’s escaping from a crime scene when Keicho shoots him with the arrow, as opposed to being in jail. 

--Koichi and Josuke are now 2nd years, and Koichi is a transfer student. He and his family just moved to Morioh. 

--The scene with the turtle doesn’t happen. Instead Koichi is stopped by punks in an alley way, and that’s where Josuke fights them. 

--Koichi and Josuke have met before the alley scene, but Josuke doesn’t remember Koichi initially. Koichi doesn’t meet Jotaro until later. 

--Yukako and Koichi have a few scenes together early on. Yukako gives Koichi her english homework and tells him she’ll help him study. There’s a ton, and she pressures him to do all of it. Koichi is made uneasy by her from the start. 

--The scene where Josuke saves the girl at the convenience store happens before Josuke meets Jotaro. 

--Tomoko doesn’t get to punch a guy into his car :c 

--A lot more time is spent on Josuke grieving his grandpa right after he dies. Even Jotaro is pretty choked up by it. The actors did a really good job in that scene. Josuke cries :c

--Jotaro freezes time during the fight with Angelo

--The fight with Angelo and Angelo’s being turned into a rock is almost entirely the same as the manga/the closest they could get. The fight scenes were done wonderfully. 

--We actually see Josuke and Tomoko go to Ryohei’s funeral. Koichi also goes, as do many of the other kids from Josuke’s high school apparently. I can only guess this is cause Ryohei was a well known police officer. 

--Josuke sees Keicho watching the funeral and chases after him, leading him to the Nijimura’s house. Koichi follows Josuke after seeing him leave, and that’s how they both get there. 

--Dio is not mentioned in the film at all (if he was, I missed it)

--The fight between the Nijimura’s and Josuke and Koichi is done beautifully and with a lot of detail to make it as close to the source as possible. The only differences were that Echoes hatched during the fight with Keicho and that (THIS IS A MAJOR MAJOR SPOILER THAT WILL EFFECT THE SECOND MOVIE AS WELL SO BEFORE YOU READ PLEASE BE SURE THAT YOU WANT TO KNOW THIS!!!)

--Red Hot Chili Pepper is not the stand that kills Keicho. Sheer Heart Attack is. (sorry Akira Otoishi fans) I personally think this was a really smart move on their part, as DiU is fucking long as hell. It’s clear that they’re trying to move the story along to get as much of the main plot in as they can. While I also have to admit that I am sad we aren’t gonna get to see every minor character and plot line, I also understand why they did and think it was a great choice. My opinion may change later but for now I think it was the best decision. 

--After that, there is a final scene of Okuyasu, Josuke, and Koichi being friends and going to school, with all three of them saying “Yo” to the Angelo rock. There is a stinger that shows Kira’s house, and shows that he now has the arrow. 

Things that were added:

--Angelo meets with Keicho and they have a meal together? Angelo threatens Keicho with his stand and Keicho whips out Bad Company and puts that nonsense to bed. 

--Jotaro calls Joseph and talks to him in English. I can’t remember if this was ever specified in the manga or not, that they spoke English, but I guess he can speak English! Also major props to Yusuke again, because I could understand everything he said fairly easily without subtitles. It was clear he put in the practice and had pretty good pronunciation. c: 

--There’s a scene where Yukako stops Koichi on the way to school, and asks him if he notices anything different about her. The first thing he guesses is her hair, but eventually she tells him it’s her nails. She asks him to compliment her nails, and as Koichi is about to (mostly out of fear) he suddenly gets teleported a few feet away from where he was standing. Okuyasu is then shown to be standing nearby. I don’t know if this was a reference to him being jealous of Koichi getting confessed to in the manga, but either way it was pretty funny. 

--Josuke asks Tomoko why she never got married, to which she replies that she’s never been able to fall for guys. She says there was only one man she ever loved and it was Josuke’s father. I may be off on this next part (my Japanese is iffy sometimes) but then she says that Josuke is a lot like his father/ reminds her a lot of his father. Josuke laughs a bit and then says that he thinks he takes more after Ryohei (and her? I’m not sure) 

References to other parts of the series:

--Near the beginning of the movie, Koichi straightens his “Pink Dark Boy” comics on his shelf, and also hangs a “Pink Dark Boy” poster on his wall. 

--Tomoko mentions that she went to a cute new Italian cafe called “Trattoria Trussardi” and says that she and Josuke should go together sometime. 

That’s all I can think of for right now! 

As for my thoughts on the movie, I loved it! I don’t think it’s a perfect movie, but it’s clear a lot of effort went into it to make it as close to the original material as possible while still being it’s own thing. The Stands all looked really good in opinion, especially The Hand and Echoes. The only one that was a little iffy occasionally was Star Platinum, who was a little uncanny at times because of his more human features. Crazy Diamond also looked really good. 

Again, I thought it was great. Maybe the pacing was a bit off at some points, but altogether I thought it was a great adaptation and I really really hope that they’re able to make Chapter 2. I’ve heard that the movie isn’t doing too well in the Japanese box office which is unfortunate...Hopefully things will pick up soon with the Sendai Jojo fest starting on Saturday! 

So finally, TLDR: The movie is great, the stands looked good, things had to be changed but it was for the best, and actors and actresses all did a fantastic job <3

JoJo(taro) Cuddle Scenario: Hat Thief

Note: this kinda takes place maybe during the events of DIU, because I am sure this took a hella long time… so yeah, also S/O is a stand user

It was a long day of searching.

An incredibly long day of searching for this minor yet problematic stand user with a habit of misplacing items in bizarre places. They always left a note too; first Josuke was missing a button off of his school uniform, which messed up the flow of said Pompadour haired teen. Then Okuyasu was missing his jacket that somehow ended up hanging in the tree beside his house, but no the most nefarious thing that could possibly happen was the misplacement of Jotaro Kujo’s hat.

He was sure he left it on the nightstand having tossed it aside for a nap, but now its missing from its perched position. He looked high and low, even with Star Platinum’s help to find the blasted item! It was one of his unspoken favorite hats too. So, here stands Jotaro Kujo in the middle of the luxurious hotel room pondering where his hat was. There were two ways it could have gone missing; he really did misplace his hat or– “(Name)… I know you’re here.”

There was an awkward long pause as Jotaro could hear something from the bedroom happen, along with shuffling like a certain much shorter companion was trying to hide; (Name) didn’t have much time to escape the room to the bathroom before Star Platinum hiked them into the air, or see Jotaro walk in with a slightly displeased look, “Gyah! Put me down Splatty– Oh Hi ‘Taro… uh, fancy meeting you here.”

“(Nickname), why are you here.” Jotaro didn’t really ask a question but more so said it as a statement; of course he took his hat back to see a small geko-like stand resting upon (Name)’s head like it wasn’t just trying to hide in a terrible spot. (Name) laughed awkwardly before their world saw the floor and Jotaro walking towards the bed; they barely had time to react to the hat smacked back onto their head and a weight pinning them down, “Forget I asked, you’re not moving.”

(Name) laid there with Jotaro pinning them down, having originally planned on surprising him but that never turned out well; their eyes crossed when a pressure was on their cheek and an oh so familiar galactic themed hair whipped across their field of vision. A smiled formed on their face as Jotaro shifted to look away, “Jotaro…”

They didn’t need to see the blush on his face to know his stand has unintentionally released his actual feelings; he was glad (Name) was there, more then willing to admit, “Shut up and let me sleep, pain in the ass.”

“The feeling is mutual, hello to you too.”

(Name) was trapped there for a solid few hours, there’s no escaping his grasp when Jotaro is tired.

Thoughts on the “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” English dub. Episode one.

hello again. this is going to be an interesting experience because while I have read all of Jojo I have not actually watched every episode. also when the dub was first dropped I remember just hating what little I heard of it apart from Patrick Seitz as Dio. I think now that the dust has settled and I’m over the fact that Jonathan and Joseph sport British accents its worth it to actually look at it and judge it appropriately. because let’s face it you can’t gauge how a dub is by watching three short clips from it

I also think its going to be good going back to Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency because honestly PB is very underrated within the fandom and while I still think BT is the weakest plot wise it still contains some of my favorite characters in the series as well as some very great moments. I am of the firm belief that you cannot skip Jojo parts. you cannot start with SDC, I don’t care if you think Hamon was stupid or find the idea of PB and BT boring. you have to at least watch this because otherwise you will not understand why Jonathan is so important, you will get none of Dio’s development as its all confined to PB, and you’re missing out on a large reason why Joseph is such a great character (he’s more than an old man shouting “OH MY GOD”).

I don’t think this is me being unfair. I’m not saying you have to go read all eight parts of Jojo within a span of a month or anything. I just think you should start from the beginning and progress forward. if you’re most excited for SDC or DIU that’s okay, but you can’t use them as a starting point because contrary to what some have claimed all Jojo parts are interconnected

4R’s: Encantadia Season 2 (April 12, 2017 mid week-ender episode review)

Episode 193

Recap:

Haliyah, goddess of two moons

Just as Cassiopeia hoped for, a beautiful goddess descended from the moon. Her enchanting voice immediately caught the attention of Cassiopeia, from the way she looks, Cassiopeia already knew that she was a goddess, and she’s none other than Haliyah. But when the latter saw her, she immediately went back to her home. Cassiopeia pleaded and tried to summon Haliyah back but failed, Cassiopeia heard another voice and told her she won’t be able to talk to Haliyah because she is elusive, she doesn’t like getting in touch with other creatures which is why she chose to live in the moon. Cassiopeia wondered who that was, not long after, a strange creature emerged from the stream.

Why, why love?

Alena was angry at what Memfes did with the Adamyans and immediately searched for him. Memfes appeared and made a deal once again with the sang’gre, marry him in exchange for the Adamyan’s freedom, once again, Alena refused his proposal and fought him instead. Because of her anger, Alena unleashed the power of the water gem and accidentally hurt Memfes, Alena realized what she did and became worried about him. Turns out, Memfes was actually fine and was unaffected, the chief of the Gunikars vowed to make Alena fall for him.

Ariana has been training non-stop in Lireo. Ybrahim has been watching her every move, and it reminded him so much of how Amihan fights back then. Manik came and told him how proud he is for having a beautiful wife-to-be, something which surprised Ybrahim. Manik explained that Ariana was betrothed to him as part of following their tribe’s customs, Manik knew Ybrahim feels something towards Ariana and low-key stated to stay away from his woman.

The thief in Etheria

Pirena and Deshna went to Etheria, the younger Hathor warned Pirena not to make her a bait once again. Hitano came and found the sisters, he also found out what the two had been up to. Pirena and Deshna wanted to make it to Etheria without anyone noticing and came up with a plan to make Hitano a bait to trick the Etherian soldiers, Hitano agreed, but only in one condition, if the sisters does not make it back right away, he’ll follow them. The three proceeded with their plan. Hitano made the soldiers run after him while Pirena and Deshna sneaked inside. Pirena and Deshna already made it inside and fought the soldiers guarding Avria’s room, not long after, Asval and Andora came and called their queen to tell her that there was an intruder in Etheria—Hitano. Avria reminded Hitano about the deal Etheria made with Lireo, Hitano bluffed that he was just strolling around Etheria which Asval refused to believe and even accused him of being a spy. Andora suggested to punish him or kill him (which was impossible since Hitano is an ivtre) but Avria did not allow that and set him free instead, after all she made a deal with Danaya and she still has the water gem to obtain.

Hitano went back to Lireo and informed Danaya about what Pirena and Deshna has been up to, and through the help of Imaw’s cane they found out that Pirena wanted to obtain Etheria’s golden hourglass which has the power to turn back time, Danaya already knew Pirena wanted to go back to the time when Cassiopeia’s island was under attack to save Mira. But it wasn’t the time for Pirena to do such thing for it will ruin their plans and the temporary ceasefire will be voided.

The sisters went to Avria’s room where the golden hourglass was but Pirena got disappointed to find out that the hourglass was no longer there. Avria sensed that there is another intruder in Lireo and immediately ordered her soldiers to search the entire palace. Avria went back to her room and found out that the hourglass has been stolen and suspected that it could be the diwatas to committed the crime.

Pirena went back to the camp and was very frustrated, all of her hopes to save Mira has vanished. Deshna calmed her sister down and thought that Avria might have placed the hourglass somewhere else, desperate, Pirena went back to Etheria and confronted Avria. Pirena demanded for the hourglass and warned Avria of how their meeting will end up if Avria does not give her what she wants. Danaya came and stopped Pirena from whatever she was trying to do and apologized to Avria, Danaya took Pirena away. Another misunderstanding emerged between the eldest and the youngest daughter of Mine-a, Danaya reminded her that her decision to back out from the war was for the safety of everyone and told Pirena to stop being selfish. Pirena resented that idea, for all she ever wanted was to regain what she lost. Until now, she hasn’t accepted her daughter and Lira’s deaths and will do everything to get them back. Danaya and Pirena engaged in battle, Avria who has been watching them through her staff was fascinated at how the sisters were trying to kill each other, but still wondered who stole the hourglass.

In the woods, Hagorn was all alone, carrying something. Etheria’s most powerful tool, apparently he was the one who stole it for his own purposes.

💛 I.love.Danaya’s blue and gold warrior costume! Reminds me so much of Amihan and Danaya’s sisterly moments together, is this a sign that Danaya will ultimately be chosen as the air gem’s keeper? What do you guys think?

❤ Danny and Piry are fighting again, although Danaya has a point, Pirena’s side is also understandable. She’s a mother, and she’ll do anything to bring her daughter and niece back. That aside, I love the pain and tension between Glai and Shai (Sanya), both queens owned the scene. Also special shoutout to Pirena and Deshna! More sisterly moments please.

💀 Hm…so if Hagorn is the one who stole the golden hourglass, I’m pretty sure he’ll make a deal with Pirena before letting her get a hold of it, surrender Hathoria most probably, or I don’t know, Hagorn seemed to be less of a greedy bastard lately and is more focused at eliminating Etheria, it’s hard to tell from his emotionless face.

💎 Guys, I think Avria has already summoned Odessa, Andora, and maybe Animus back from the past before the hourglass was stolen? Nevertheless, I’m excited to see Juvila, kind of curious about Odessa but she’s a bitch so…whatever, and Avisala to bathalumang Haliya! I’m familiar with Valeen but I wasn’t expecting that she’s gonna play the character, well, it’s not that I am that excited for the big reveal, actually I am no longer excited for some new cast member reveal because this tactic to win the audiences is so overused. The only thing that I want to see is Juvila, Raquim and Mine-a’s return along with Lira and Mira (hopefully).

Rant/s:

🤔 Don’t you guys think that Ybrahim is hanging out in Lireo way too much? I would understand if Lira was still there, like I haven’t really seen him doing some kingly stuff, like dude, I know you lost your beloved and your daughter but you have a kingdom to look after, I want to see more of Ybrahim as a king and a leader in action rather than a love sick man. I think this arc is getting way more Lireo-centric. I miss seeing Sapiro and I haven’t really seen Hathoria’s interior in Hara Pirena’s reign and I want to see that.

🙄 STIFF. STIFF. STIFF. Is how I would describe Arra in her training scene, she’s making it so obvious that the routine is choreographed, very unnatural, I’m not a martial artist and she’s not as well but she can always get away with the struggle with GOOD ACTING, understandably Kylie is effortless because she has been doing martial arts since childhood, but there are so many cast members who have no background in martial arts but they can still make people believe that they are excellent fighters, and she had lesser time to train but like I said, she would have pulled it off with acting.  Unfortunately she can’t even make her acting natural so why expect right? Her face was so blank, it lacks the determination, her eyes doesn’t scream passion, she lacks fire, her body language doesn’t tell people how badass she has become, but rather she’s letting everyone know that either sword fighting is not her cup of tea, or she’s just playing around. Honestly I would rather go for a Manik-Ybrahim bromance than this love triangle that only involves two actors.

Mid-week thoughts:

Overall this week has been exciting but not EXCITING, exciting. I think this whole getting Haliyah’s attention will be prolonged to give way for new characters which is kind of annoying, and I guess the whole plot of the season 2 will revolve around Emre getting Devas back. It’s annoying how these so-called guardians have yet to prove themselves, if you ask me Lira and Mira are the only ones who deserve the title, what’s the whole point of letting the three others live yet they haven’t done anything to be of help? At least Deshna is doing something, but right now, I feel like Muyak, Pao Pao and the most useless of all useless Ariana are just mere scene fillers, this arc failed to emphasize the story of the new guardians and just like book 1, this second season is still more on the sisters’ stories rather than a transition from the four daughters of Mine-a as saviors of Encantadia…or Amihan rather to “passing the responsibilities” to the seven chosen. Narrative-wise I think that the seven guardian’s plot was just a mere arc filler.

Thoughts on the “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” English dub. Episode nine.

and thus one of my favorite variations of Dio was born, Floating Head Dio

something I like with this series is you don’t see major events undone, what I mean is things like Dio turning all these people isn’t erased much like how the Kawajiri family is still broken at the end of DIU

for how this series can get, there is a feeling of permanence to it that many other famous anime lack

Jonathan, Zeppeli, they don’t get a reset button and even if there are deaths within this series I did not want or see a need for I appreciate Araki committing to his decisions

so the family behind Erina is one I can’t take seriously anymore because someone a while back posted those screen caps of them and wrote “dammit honey I can’t take you anywhere!”

“Dio...” “Jojo...” this sums up PB in a nutshell

“if there really is a God, one who plucks the strings that bind our fates, I am certain that our fates were bound together for a reason” a point further substantiated by SBR, but a point we still don’t really know much about

whatever reason it is that Jonathan and Dio are so bound up together we can only leave it to personal interpretation because Araki never tells us

maybe that’s intentional, maybe he just didn’t bother giving us a reason, for me I just see Jonathan and Dio as representing two opposing forces that are constantly at odds

granted Johnny and Diego are very different from their counterparts which is why they are characters in their own right instead of extensions of these two, but the fact that they still got tied up with each other in their timeline does prove that Araki sees the Joestars and Dio as two entities that will always be involved with each other

this is jumping the gun, but this ties into why I wish he explored Giorno’s connections to Jonathan and Dio more as he’s literally the byproduct of Dio forcing himself into Jonathan’s fate

look, look with your special eyes

so the fact that he shatters the glass with his eye beams and is still fine suggests that the jar was not necessary at all and just something he did for aesthetics

I’ll give them credit for making baby Lisa Lisa a brunette, since I recall the manga making her blond (oops)

this is a beautiful moment and I also gotta say Araki might be the only person who wrote a shonen manga that was not afraid to show his couple kissing (well okay him and Togashi since Yusuke and Keiko kiss)

why are authors of shonen manga so afraid of showing any intimacy between their leading male and his love interest? do you assume the readers still think girls have cooties? even American comics show the heroes kissing women

okay the way Dio says “velvet boudoir” is hilarious especially knowing a boudoir is something for women not men

he stabbed Floating Head Dio in his neck, a weird area to attack a floating head admittedly

“farewell to you my beloved” no....

back when the SDC finale aired I mentioned this series never making me cry before (though seeing Jotaro and Joseph say goodbye to Polnareff came close) but this is really effective

I think coming back to certain parts of the series has helped me realize that even something as ridiculous as Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure can move me

I mentioned previously that I once felt Jonathan’s death was undermined by SDC and how now I see that’s untrue. Jonathan’s goal throughout this climax was get Erina to safety, stop Dio but get Erina to safety at all costs. she is pregnant with their only son and leaving with the future mother to their only grandchild, the legacy is what Jonathan died for. it was not just about stopping Dio, assuming it was about that was very narrow minded of me. the fact that his bloodline carried onward even in highly complicated ways is his true victory. without his heroic death Joseph wouldn’t have been able to stop Kars, Jotaro wouldn’t have finished what he started with Dio, Josuke wouldn’t have saved Morioh, Giorno wouldn’t have defeated Diavolo, Jolyne would not have accomplished all that she did, because none of them would have existed

in the back of the official English manga there are nice writings from Araki about some of the choices he made. one thing he noted was that killing Jonathan was a very bold move as the idea of the hero dying, but the story moving forward was unheard of. and its because he chose to make this a generational series that Jojo is still able to exist as a manga and anime now. he did create a perfect formula for maintaining his story without it becoming redundant, whether he realized it or not

and even if fans will still argue that PB is so removed from the rest of the series or that its the weakest chain I disagree. PB laid the groundwork for some of the most significant elements of the series and gave us some of the most important characters that exist within it. there’s a reason they tried to make it into a standalone movie. granted the movie was so bad Araki scrubbed it out public access sparing the occasional screen cap and some dialogue free footage of Dio and Jonathan meeting, its still proof that in its homeland PB is regarded as something worthy of retelling

mind you PB isn’t perfect, I feel that every part of Jojo has something that needed to be worked on, but revisiting it has really helped me to appreciate it more than I already did. its too bad the anime cut some noteworthy things, but I really think fans still gain a lot from it and to deprive yourself of this experience just because you only care about Stands or you bought the unjustified hype that PB and BT are bad just feels like shooting yourself in the foot

as far as this dub is concerned, despite the accents slipping occasionally and some questionable line changes and translation choices I think they’ve done very well. I enjoyed myself completely.

back to the episode though (yeah I still got a few minutes of it left, God will I ever stop ranting?)
