HOW the platypus managed to get to Angel Island was a mystery BUT he supposed it wasn’t too far-fetched for him to find a way — seemed the type not to give up on a task once his mind was made up. WHY the madman thought coming here was a good idea, that was what truly puzzled the echidna. After all, last time they had seen one another, Knuckles had made his feelings towards them VERY clear. 

Hostility towards the other was plain as day in guardian’s tone and body language, contempt not being hidden. Not at all about to pretend to be nice or be kind towards him at all.

   ´ Honestly I wouldn’t hadn’t expected to interact with someone looking as dumb as him, klutzing around with his glasses there always seem askew, when he try to explain things he is excited about. Not that it was any surprise that he liked super heroes with being in Ryuuseitai, at least he tries unlike all the other unit members he have, which I admire a lot.´

   ` Admiring that he tries to help everyone as he is being stumble over, I do hope next year that he will be blessed with better unit members like I have Valkyrie, even if it is slightly rocky, I still really look up to Morisawa-chin. I just wished I could have the same will as he have to do things for others.`

   ‘ I have barely noticed him for long, but I do wish I could be better friends with him, and learn someone else to know. Since it is more human to have a lot of friends right? And I don’t know how, he makes me smile a lot, and laugh like I barely dare to do in front of others. YEAAAH, DUDE, and I know exactly what you mean!! A very similar thing happened for me (albeit in reverse) with Keith!

I watched Voltron for the first time a couple months ago (I think back in March?) on a whim because Netflix was like “try iiiiit” and I was like “okay” since I didn’t have anything else I was watching at the time. I had already loved Alan for months by this point (I think it’s perhaps almost been a year by now? Getting close, anyway), so I already held super deep affection for him, and I knew pretty much nothing about the show save for fanart that I saw here or there on my dash. Like, I knew it had to do with space, and a giant robot, and that’s about it. But when Keith appeared on his hoverbike to save Shiro in the first episode, my heart jumped in my chest and I was like, “That’s him. I found him. I found the boy.” I knew right away that hew as going to end up being my fave, and whAT DO YOU KNOW, I WAS RIGHT, HE’S AMAZING!

And that said! Alan and Keith actually have quite a few similarities between them, physical similarities aside! They’re each their own character, of course, but they have quite a lot in common in terms of personality, so I really think you’ll like (and perhaps even love<3) Alan as well!!

Anyway, just in case you’re interested, I’m gonna go ahead and draw up a quick episode list for you. :D You’re of course free to watch the entire Kalos series and I’m not going to discourage you, but although Alan is both protagonist and deuteragonist to the main plot that covers the climax of the saga (it’s complicated---basically, they wrote him into the protagonist role, realized once they hit the climax that they still had to account for Ash being the protagonist of the show, and so Alan and Ash flip-flop between protagonist and deuteragonist and it’s a bit of a mess), he only appears in a handful of main series episodes. His biggest part comes in a series of four special episodes called The Strongest Mega Evolution, which is where you really want to start, because that’s where you get his backstory and everything. (Plus, he’s unequivocally the protagonist there---Ash doesn’t appear at all, save for a very brief mention in TSME 1!)

So, if you’re here for Alan’s story, here are the specials / episodes you’re going to want to watch, in order:

XY068 (“The Coveted Mega Evolution! Garchomp’s Bonds!!”) --- Alan doesn’t actually appear in person in this one. However, this one is still important to his story, imo, as you see more of his relationship with Professor Sycamore in it (particularly in flashbacks Professor Sycamore has midway through the episode, which show shots of Alan’s childhood at the lab), and Professor Sycamore is pretty much his (unofficially) adoptive father. (Like, it’s kind of hilarious in the best way, but if you Google them there are numerous results of people being like “they’re father and son yes????” from various different websites, and when the episodes were airing people on YouTube kept being like “I keep expecting a plot twist where it’s revealed Sycamore is his father.” It’s one of the greatest unspoken truths of the Pokémon universe tbh.) Also, the end of the episode features Sycamore making one of the most suggestive come-ons to another character that you could imagine, so honestly, although the whole episode is good (and, as I said, does provide important material for Sycamore’s relationship with Alan!), if nothing else, that moment there at the end is #iconic and worth seeing at least once.

XYZ013 (“The Strongest Mega Battle! Greninja vs. Mega Charizard!”) --- This is Alan’s first official appearance in the main series! Though the episode itself is still largely focusing on Ash, I find that it’s notable because this does switch over to Alan’s perspective more than once. Again, the whole “they’re both protagonist and deuteragonist” thing begins here. 

XYZ014 (“The Explosive Ground Force! The Zygarde Capture Operation!!”)

XYZ023 (“Ash and Alan! Greninja vs. Mega Charizard Once Again!!”)

XYZ030 (“Find Carbink! Goodra and Dedenne!!”) --- Alan actually appears at the end of this episode. It’s a noteworthy appearance, I feel, not only because it shows him getting something he needs to participate in the climax at the end (trying to be vague to avoid spoilers, haha), but it also shows his motivation for doing so, which was insinuated before but outright stated here. This is an added motivation that he only gets after the other main series episodes (and in particular, after meeting and interacting with Ash<3), so I think it’s important to see, even if it’s just a scene at the end of the episode.

XYZ032 (“The Kalos League Begins! The Mega Charizard Showdown: X vs Y!!”) --- XYZ044 (“Starting From Zero! Clemont’s Decision!!) --- Once you hit XYZ032, you can pretty much watch straight through XYZ044, since Alan appears in just about every single episode (and this is the climax of the plot that began in TSME). There are two episodes in the middle that don’t have much to do with Alan (XYZ034 and XYZ035) because they’re Ash’s League battle with his standard rival, so you can skip those if you want, but I don’t think it would hurt to watch them, either. It’s a good battle. With that said, I should add a disclaimer: Technically Alan does appear in a couple episodes after XYZ044 (XYZ045 and XYZ047, to be specific). However, I personally really do not like them (understatement) because the writers essentially took all of the very real traumas and mental health issues Alan has as a result of everything (you’ll see) and swept them under the rug in order to push a theme there at the end. This, despite giving him what is (in my opinion) the perfect ending for him in XYZ044. So honestly, you could just stop after XYZ044, and pull a Nick Fury and disregard the rest of the nonsense they did with him after that (you know, “I recognize that the council has made a decision, but seeing that it’s a stupid-ass decision, I’ve elected to ignore it”), as I’m doing, but I’ll be honest and admit that those episodes do exist. They’re terrible (at least in regards to what they do to Alan), but they do exist. I just don’t recommend bothering with them, haha.

Oh, and a note of clarification: Technically the Kalos saga was split into two “series.” XY is the first series, and then XY&Z is the second. They’re a direct continuation of each other, so there’s no real change, it’s just that Japan decided to switch up the name of the show partway through. (They do this a lot with the PokéAni, haha.) So that’s why you go from XY068 to XYZ013. I included the episode names so that you could be extra sure of the episodes you need to watch. (Also, if you use a streaming site, be careful: Some of the streaming sites have the order a bit messed up, so you’ll always want to trust the title card in the actual video more than episode blurbs on the website!)

Also! One final thing: Please watch this in Japanese with English subs! The English dub is really bad, and offensively bad in Alan’s case. They literally cast someone who had no prior credited voice acting experience (and sounds like he’s an adult at that, when Alan is a teenager---like, ~15), and it shows. Not to mention that they change the music in the worst ways at times and just . . . ugh. Please don’t go with the English dub on this one. Watch it in Japanese with English subs. You won’t regret it, I promise.

Anyway! This post is long enough as it is, but I’m really excited you’re interested!! (And a bit nervous, haha. He means so much to me that I can’t help but feel a bit anxious whenever I see someone is discovering his story for the first time!) I also, if you’re interested---and not to push my own work or anything, but---have a couple of pre-canon fics that you can read if you want. I can link them to you, since you don’t have to have seen his story first to understand them (since they’re pre-canon, and all). But that’s completely up to you! (I also have a ton of others since I’ve been super invested in him for a long time, but . . . those are probably better with context since they’re during canon / post-canon / AU, hahaha.)

Memento Morifandom: star wars

My first kylux fic, and ofc, it’s smuggler!Kylo.  It’s unfinished, but that’s because life started kicking my ass immediately after I finished and posted chapter two.  I really enjoy this one; despite my initial misgivings, and despite how much I was wincing when posting the first chapter, I actually grew to really like it upon rereading, especially chapter two.  Definitely an example of me trying to wrangle a bit idea into something more manageable and sort of succeeding.  (Is a projected 30k manageable?  My Star Wars fics always tend to be long, so 30k is short compared to my other SW fic, which is projected to be over 100k when finished.)

For Caesar’s I Amfandom: hetalia

History.  And Habsburgs.  Oh no.  Listen, my old URL was “deadhabsburgs,” of course I was going to one day write SpAus, it was honestly just a matter of time.  When I first posted it I called it my first SpAus fic, and it was (is?), but it’s not the first fic I’ve written with SpAus in it, which is something I didn’t discover until I reread my really old fics.  I had a lot of fun writing it (wrote it in one go, if I remember correctly) and the response to it has just been... honestly, I want to cry happily just thinking about it.  People read this fic?  They rec it?  They translate it?  It’s been just over two years (this fic was posted in 2014) and I’m still very emotional.  I should really fix those indents, though.

Atlasfandom: hetalia

MmmMmm am I allowed to put a fic on here that I haven’t technically posted?  This is one of the two (yes, two, I am amazingly persuasive) Hetalia fics that I have written for upper level history courses.  Yes, you heard me, I literally begged my professors to let me write Hetalia fanfiction in lieu of a final paper, and at 11k this is definitely longer than any of my papers would’ve been.  It’s PruAus, but the focus is largely on memory politics and the interactions between Austria, Germany, and Prussia in the modern day.  It also includes themes of Austria as a palimpsest, and contains a scene between Austria and Germany that I honestly just.  Love.  It’s probably one of my favourite interactions in all of my Hetalia fics.  However, because this fic deals with Holocaust memory politics (this was the WW2 history class that I took in Berlin, back when I lived there in 2015) I never actually posted it for public consumption, because the thought of any more drama makes me... incredibly anxious.  Only two other people besides me and my professor have ever seen it, but this is definitely one of my personal favourite fics, and everyone who’s read it has said it’s one of my better fics.  (Also, I got an A+, even though my professor hated me.  That was a good day.)  Maybe I’ll post it one day?  It is not light-hearted, but if anyone wants to read it, I may post it.  Who knows.  It even has proper citations.  Exciting!

Judasfandom: star wars

This fic.  This.  Fic.  My first posted SW fic, it started out as a simple benpoe/darkpilot/knightpilot (have we decided on a name yet) one-shot, then progressed to a two-shot, then a three-shot, and now we’re sitting at nine chapters, 50k, and plans that will eventually take this fic over 100k.  And there are lazy plans for a sequel.  Mmm.  This is the sound of me being unable to control my plot ideas, and of my friend being a wonderful enabler.  I haven’t updated this one in awhile either, for the same reasons as MM + my anxiety re: the benpoe fandom, but I do love this, because god do I love flawed characters and shoving the fact that Poe Dameron is a character with startling depth and darkness in everybody’s faces, since this fandom is content to just pretend he’s happy sunshine oatmeal and nothing else 24/7.  Hopefully I’ll update soon?  I do have 2-3k done for the next chapter, which means only ~2-3k left to go.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯  Once I tried to write PruAus fluff.  It works only if you don’t actually read too deeply into the sadness that is Prussia’s emotional/etc repression and Austria’s sad knowing of it.  So basically, it didn’t work at all as a fluffy fic, because it’s basically that quote about Milk Duds: “sweet on the outside, poison on the inside.”  Aha!  Hope you guys didn’t think I was actually capable of not spoiling everything I touch with character development and sadness.  Or maybe most of you don’t get unbearably upset thinking about how much Prussia represses himself and genuinely read it as something sweet and fluffy, in which case, holy shit, let me be you for a day.  This fic also has a beautiful German translation (by you!) because I am blessed and eternally grateful and spoiled 8D

So yeah the world of Bungou Stray Dogs is quite crazy at the moment, and dear GOD I can’t tell you how eager and excited I am whenever a new month rolls around. This arc just keeps getting more intense and suspenseful and I LOVE IT. You know aside from the agency family and their companions suffering, yeah OTHER than that! XDDD;;;

So seeing as so much s**t is going down at this point in time, let us examine said s**t shall we~?

I can’t help it! Unlike Fyodor whose amount of expressions equal that of a freaking ROCK (Come on guys, you can’t deny he rarely shows ANY emotion. Yeah he occasionally gives a smile, but how many has he given again? Seriously how many, I can’t even recall...<|T;;;;) Gogol is expressive as all hell. Dammit, from his outfit to his personality I LOVE THIS DORKY PSYCHO. And his ability? Dear GOD its awesome but more on that later!Pretty much to sum up, the ADA is put in a VERY dicey situation where it’s basically seeming like a losing battle, and like I said we know our Agency and Mafia children will come out victorious. But I highly doubt we’re gonna leaving this chapter unscathed.Because well, THIS happened:

So yeah. I mean I REALLY HOPE he’s not dead, but this is probably wishful thinking. Because ultimately, this is WAR, and if there is something we’ve all sadly learned, not everyone comes home alive. But who do I think is at the most risk? Any of the Agency? The Mafia?

Actually neither.

It’s Edgar Allen Poe.

Think about it. He had a lot of screen time as of recently, and his interactions with Ranpo seemed more...I don’t know. It looked as if the manga was trying to convey how they just click together and how they great they are as a team. Ranpo considers Poe a friend, and I figure you’d have to be pretty dang close to the detective to consider you a friend; just saying.

Also Poe was pretty detrimental to solving Oguri’s case, his ability basically giving Ranpo the cover he needed to interrogate Oguri privately.

Fyodor is pretty adamant on disposing certain people, and from what I can remember one of those certain people is Chuuya, and where is he right now?

In a book, held in by Poe’s ability.

Now Fyodor is FAR from stupid, so he’s gonna find out where Chuuya is, and let me you all in on a little something.

HE’S NOT SAFE.

Yes he is inside Poe’s book, but did it ever occur to anyone what would happen if Poe were to be so injured that the ability would wear off? Or worse yet, Poe indeed DYING. What happens then? Well, 1 of 2 things: One) What I just stated, and Chuuya being released from the book or Two) Chuuya is stuck inside the book forever. FOR. EVER. And then Fyodor can just burn that book and POOF. Chuuya: Dead. OH GOD DON’T TELL ME RANPO BORROWING KARL WAS FORESHADOWINGASFADSGDFWTRHFKDNS

Guys I’m sorry to burst all your bubbles, but Chuuya isn’t safe. He never was. In fact I’m making one thing perfectly clear right now:

TAKE WHATEVER YOU FEEL MIGHT BE SAFE OR GOOD IN THIS ARC AND THROW IT AWAY.

This arc has and will continue to prove that Fyodor is showing NO MERCY.

Think Dazai will keep the strategies coming? WRONG, HE’S BEEN ARRESTED. Think Ranpo will pull the Agency out of this government laid plan? WRONG, IT’S A DOUBLE EDGE SWORD. Think Chuuya is safe? 

WRONG. WRONG. WRONG.

Fyodor cares about two things and two things only: Himself and his goals, and he will do ANYTHING to achieve them. Everyone and Anyone is a target, it doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done, NO ONE is safe.

And that includes our main protagonist!

Yeah, aside from E.A. Poe, I believe Atsushi is a MAJOR target in this arc. Now it’s not death because if he died now I think the story would be cut short, but dig deep into thin minds for a moment and remember an important piece of information Mr.Fitzgerald shared with said Tiger shifter:

Ignoring that lame joke, (REALLY FITZ???) look at this page’s dialogue. Fitzgerald tells Atsushi of a book he and Guild are searching for, one that is pretty much invulnerable to pretty much anything. (Did anyone try using scissors? Just wondering cause books CAN be cut up with-Gah I’m going off on a tangent MOVING ON)

Atsushi asks, “What’s that got to do with me?”

Fitzgerald’s answer, “Pretty much everything! 8D”

Because it does! Atsushi is the key to finding this special ‘book’ every foe, aside from the mafia, in this manga have been so obsessed over!

Remember that INSANE bounty Atsushi had placed on him? That was specifically set so certain people could catch him and find said book. Besides, why would he even HAVE one if not for that? It’s not like Atsushi had any reputation aside from...Well being an orphan. =3=;;; And our precious little Genocidal Russian Maniac currently wants said book.

Yyyeeaaaah, considering Dazai is imprisoned, the ADA being thrown for a loop, and both Fyodor AND Gogol working together...I’d say Atsushi is in for a liiiiiiittle bit of trouble.

Also he kinda isn’t good at fending off kidnappers, it happened like, what, twice already? <|T;;;;;;

For the next segment I decided to get some input from the amazing @looking-for-stray-dogs​. (SERIOUSLY GUYS GO CHECK THEM OUT THEY ARE AMAZINGLY AWESOME *WAIT DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE?* XDDD)

Like I said, I wanted some input/insight on a certain theory I had, one that inspired me to make this post in the first place: 

That Fyodor is constantly and relentlessly targeting the agency because it'll be easier to get Atsushi.  Whether it'd be easier to kidnap him or just mind games so Atsushi will give himself up, I’m not sure, either one is plausible at this point. And in @looking-for-stray-dogs‘s response, they brought up some really good points as to why it might be plausible too:

“...what Fyodor wants to do is to make the ADA, Mafia, and possibly the government so stripped of power that he will have an easier time finding the book. And Atsushi is most likely included in the category of people he wants to strip of power, though so far Fyodor has not directly attacked him. Fyodor is taking the psychologically damaging route of attempting to destroy what holds the different agencies up (like Fukuzawa and Mori)...”

And DAMN all that is scary! (Though Truth be told I wouldn’t mind the government being stripped of power considering there are creepy psychos like that dude of which by the way thank you Gogol for shooting in the leg ANYWAY) As I’ve stated Fyodor is not playing nice so the nicest, fluffiest being in this entire manga going up against the aforementioned bully is pretty much like pitting Kirby against Ardyn from Final Fantasy 15. It’s too brutal and mean spirited. AND AROUND CHRISTMAS. 8C

“...I do not know whether he’s waiting and carrying out a long-term battle so he can eventually kidnap Atsushi (objectively, Atsushi is not at a level of strength yet where he can protect himself from being kidnapped, so technically Fyodor doesn’t have to wait that long if he just wants to make sure Atsushi is within his grasp). It is certainly possible that he wants to manipulate Atsushi into giving himself up to help him find the book...”

As they’ve stated, and also refering back to a statement I made earlier, Atsushi isn’t strong nor capable enough to prevent himself from getting catnapped. Wait a minute... DAMMIT FITZGERALD >8C

Anyway, Atsushi has just recently started training under Kunikida (AGAIN I APPROVE GO TEAM MOM TEACH HIM YOUR WAYS) so he obviously hasn’t learned much.  And let’s go back to his encounter with Gogol which by the way houses one of my favorite Atsushi moments OF ALL TIME:

Honestly though, if it really comes to it, I firmly believe Atsushi would and will give himself up to Fyodor should the situation get that bad. It’s no secret he LOVES the members of the Agency. He cares for them as a family and hell, he even thinks as the Mafia as respectable people who love their city. Yeah Akutagawa and him butt heads but they just need their get along shirt and everything is OK! XDDD And of course, he loves the city, it’s his home, and by God he’s gonna do what it takes to protect it. Yes it is a bit of an oxymoron but by this point, Atsushi would consider this a better option so Fyodor would stop hurting the ones he care about; the ones he love.  He’s just that selfless. 

Now would everyone be ok with this? OH HELL NO, OF COURSE NOT! But he wouldn’t even give them a say.  And dammit this kid would just smile. HE WOULD JUST FREAKING SMILE AS HE WALKS OF TO CERTAIN DOOM DAMMIT ATSUSHI

And Dazai...Oh God DAZAI...

I can’t even begin to describe how his interaction with Atsushi would be should this theory come to pass. Can you imagine the look on his face when he hears of this plan this STUPID plan? Can you imagine the thoughts racing through his head? The most prevalent I think being:
