all i can think about since i first saw new Dorian look is that every time Orym looks up to talk to him first thing he sees is just pair of naked blue tiddies with medium sized nipples
[ID: A digital drawing of Dorian Storm, Imogen Temult, and Ashton Greymoore. They're all wearing their level 13 outfits and smiling. Where their outfits are sheer and/or open they have hickeys visible on their necks and chests. End description.]
[ID: A digital illustration of Fresh Cut Grass and the rest of Bell's Hells, including Bertrand Bell and Dorian Storm, and FRIDA. Fresh Cut Grass is in the centre of the image, looking at the viewer and waving with their left hand. In their right hand they hold up their Changebringer coin, near to a red and white light coming from their core. Rainbow beams emerge from behind FCG, centred behind his head. In these beams are, from bottom left to bottom right going clockwise, Betrand Bell, Imogen Temult, Laudna, Ashton Greymoore, FRIDA (who is centred at the top), Fearne Calloway, Orym, Dorian Storm, and Chetney Pock O'Pea. All of them are smiling and looking towards FCG. Sparkles are drawn on the rainbow beams and a small heart is drawn next to FRIDA. End description.]
[Two digital drawings of Dorian Storm from Critical Role. In the first one he stands facing the viewer with his head tilted to the side with a deadly expression. His hips are cocked and one hand holding his rapier while the other sparks with lightning that spirals up his arm. He is wearing more gold accessories, like a wing shaped corset, a bracer, gold chains and a golden laurel crown in addition to his shoulder pauldron. The background is dark gray and a light beams shine on one side of his face, both illuminating the gold to white and casting the other side of his face in deep shadows. His cape and hair flow with an incoming storm. The second drawing is a profile view of Dorian strutting, the same extra gold accessories are included, with the golden laurels curling in his hair and the wing shaped corset emphasizing his waist and butt. i’ve been loving watching critical role recently if for no other reason than because i get to watch a decent portion of viewers actively falling for cult tactics lmao
a forbes article describes cult tactics as when cult leaders “censor dissenting viewpoints, promote a distorted narrative and use relentless repetition and peer pressure”
ludinus needing to monologue at everyone he meets. cherry picking what information to let people know (ie the orb). showing popular world leaders (gods?) at their absolute worst as a means to win over the vulnerable. creating dissent between cult prospects and the people who they’re close to outside the cult. doesn’t take no for an answer. repeating his points over and over, in whatever context he thinks will be most persuasive. targeting people who’ve lost everything. convincing people that they’re special
Thinking about the new episode of cr and about Dorian and Orym but I’ve seen a lot of people making jokes about Dorian’s dad seeing everyone intrusive themselves and is like ‘wtf is that my son’ and so true so valid but consider.
You are the father of the Wyvernwinds, a family who essentially serves as royalty in their culture. Several years ago your youngest left, likely against your wishes, and just a short period of time ago your oldest dies, and now all of the worlds leaders are gathering to develop a plan to deal with a potential Calamity level event. You spot someone who looks similar to your only living son. He is then a part of the group of, frankly, hooligans who are fucked in the head brave and are gonna be the main task force against this event and summons your goddamn wyvern dragon horse, while wearing the sluttiest outfit you’ve ever seen, as well as a sending stone that matches with the halfling who approached you after who very clearly is fond of your son. Not to mention he doesn’t go by his birth name and title but is wearing gold to symbolize the death of his older brother. What would you do then
you ever think about how the horrific thing dorian almost had done to him... is exactly the thing iron bull went to the reeducators to beg them to do to him. yeah. me either. for ten years straight now. what the fuck. wanna be my narrative foil dude. we could fuck about it if you're game and single
I actually think Dorian and Orym should fight more.
Remember when their slowly building tension over and entire episode (full of passive aggressive remarks and blame throwing) led to threats? And how after, Orym thanked Dorian for handing over the crown sadly because he knew Dorian would be mad at him? And Dorian couldn't even look at him because he was legitimately hurt, thinking Orym was disappointed in him for doing what he thought was right? That was peak.
The fact they went from that to their current closeness and trust is the best part of their entire dynamic. Their relationship was hard fought and still will be. They will fight for it because they respect and care for one another deeply, and their disagreements don't change that, only improve it.
inquisitor rowan lavellan i am so happy for you and your ugly fucking boyfriend and your girlfriend and your other girlfriend and your other boyfriend and your bestie and your other bestie and your weirdly homoerotic chess partnership and your drinking buddy and your weird fucking dad and your albatross im so serious
i played dragon age. scenery plus my inky, shithead extraordinaire.
also I'm pretty sure there was a moment (mid-cross talk during the ep) as somebody was mentioning Orym always being in the protective/defensive position and thus in the thick of it, when Dorian muttered almost too quietly, a little admiring, a little (hollowly) laughing, a lot sad, "Always right in the mix..."
and by "I'm pretty sure" I mean I can't stop thinking about it
