#I always thought their bond was cute throughout the franchise and thought to expand on that a bit more.

Runaway Bride
Was inspired by @aellathedreamer‘s fan-fic, “Some Girls” and decided to do my own ‘what-if-scenario’, had Margaret and Edward gone through with the wedding (reluctantly), only for Margaret to get cold feet the last minute and deciding to bail, leaving Edward standing at the alter confused, but understanding as to why she did it.
This is just the first chapter of it. I’m still working on writing it and will most likely be making edits to this once it’s completed, but rest assured, it’s going to be an adventure. For Margaret especially. XD
Anyways, hope you enjoy this snippet of it!
And @aellathedreamer, this is for you! Your fan-fic was both emotional and awesome! 😁
Chapter 1
The sound of music filled Margaret’s ears as she stood firmly outside the wedding hall, eyes glued to the large wooden doors that sheltered her from the dozens of eyes awaiting her arrival, that including her husband-to-be, Prince Edward. After the truth was revealed to Edward, confessing of her switch with Stacy, the two begged his parents to call off the wedding, in which they refused. George was insistent they go through with the wedding, informing the two that it was their duty, while Caroline could only look away in shame. She could understand the duo’s plight, and while she was informed of the switch, she knew her husband was less than thrilled of the situation, and refused to let his son be married off to a commoner, let alone one from the states.
Edward had plighted to her mother, using any ounce of persuasion he could possibly muster.
“Please, Mother.” He gently begged. “You have to side with me on this!”
Caroline stayed silent, feeling her husband’s disapproving gaze towards her. She closed her eyes, not willing to see her son’s broken expression.
“This isn’t up for discussion, son. You both shall be married on Christmas Day, no exceptions.”
“But Stacy’s not just anyone! She brought out a side of me I didn’t know I had! She’s fun, organized, beautiful, and overall a good leader. I believe she would make for a fantastic ruler, if you just gave her a chance.”
His father shook his head. “I don’t know what’s come over you Edward, but I cannot let some random girl you recently met help rule our kingdom. She has no idea how the monarchy works, and has little to no experience with dealing with our people.”
Margaret decided to intervene. “Your Majesty, if you would please listen-“
“I’ve listened long enough.” The King remained firm. “And as for the little stunt you pulled, you should be grateful we’re being so lenient towards you. Do you have any idea the damage you and your supposed “doppelganger” caused?!” He asked indigently.
Margaret shrank a bit. “Well, I…I just-“
“I’m sure she’s well aware, Father.” Edward defended on her behalf, his tone rising just a tad. “Rest assured, we’ll be sure to apologize to everyone we deceived.”
“I deceived Edward.” The Duchess corrected. “Everyone, including you.”
“And us.” George corrected. “Which is why once the wedding is gone through, I expect you to make a public formal apology, is that understood?”
Margaret nodded obediently, her head hung low. “Yes, your Majesty.”
“Good. Now back onto the matter at hand.” He stared at them intently. “This wedding shall proceed, as it is the duty of both of you to unite our kingdoms. The King of Montenaro expects his niece to be wed, and we shall not disappoint him. The fate of this rests on you two.”
Edward wanted to argue more, he really did, but his fiancée placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, stopping him before doing so. “We understand, your Majesty.” She replied while looking towards Edward. “It’s our duty.” The prince noticed her eyes glossing over, the pained look she wore telling him they’re not going to win this. He clenched his fists, taking a deep breath, and looked back at his father.
“Fine.” Was all he could say before leaving the room, Margaret watching as he left.
Caroline finally turned towards the duchess, her own look not better.
“I’m truly sorry.” Her voice just barely above a whisper. “You know this is the right thing.”
Margaret nodded. “I know. Thank you…for at least hearing us out, your Majesty.” She gave a shaky bow before turning to leave as well.
To be honest, Caroline felt torn. She felt sympathy for her son, as well as Duchess Margaret, but in order to unite both Belgravia and Montenaro, the wedding must proceed. She turned towards George in a last attempt to pursue him.
“Dear, don’t you think you were a bit harsh?” She asked. “You saw how that girl was with him. She brought out the best in him! Perhaps if we gave this Stacy De Novo a chance, we-“
“Out of the question.” He raised a hand to stop her. “He hardly knows that girl. For all we know she could have been using him to inherit our fortune, and the last thing we need is a scandal on our hands.” George saw his wife deflate at that. Relaxing his features, he placed a hand atop hers. “Believe me, this is what’s best for both of them. The sooner they get on with it, the better it will be. He’ll eventually forget all about her and realize Margaret is a suitable partner for him. Just like how I thought the same thing about you.” He places a gentle kiss onto her knuckle, causing her to smile.
She sighed. “Perhaps you’re right, George.” The Queen coincided. “I only hope those two will recover. I can only imagine what they must be going through…”
With that, the following leads to where Margaret is now, standing outside the church doors with a sorrowful look upon her features. Her legs started to buckle from the heavy gown while her eyes struggled to see through the large veil on top of her head. Her breath hitched in her throat as she inevitably waited for her que to walk through those doors.
Donatelli suddenly came up behind her, making sure to do one last look-over before giving her away. “How are you feeling, your grace?” She asked, gently approaching her.
Margaret swallowed anxiously. “To be honest, I feel apprehensive about all of this.” She admitted. “This just…doesn’t feel right. Not anymore.” Her thoughts led her back the past few days, thinking of the wonderful moments she shared with Kevin Richards, and his daughter, Olivia. She missed the time they spent together, whether it be singing Christmas carols in Town Square, to having a snowball fight, even watching a movie together. Of course, she couldn’t forget her and Kevin’s first kiss, the way their lips melted together so perfectly, so effortlessly, as if they were meant to be together. She regretted the way she had ended things with him, to tell him to forget the kiss had even happened. She knew she couldn’t damage Stacy and Kevin’s friendship, but what they shared during those last few days were some of the greatest moments of her life, and she would never forget them.
Margaret formed a loving smile as she held a hand over her heart. “A part of me wishes Kevin was standing at the alter and not Edward.”
Donatelli formed a sad smile of her own. “You miss him, don’t you?”
She nodded. “More than anything. I know it seems crazy, but what we shared, I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like that before with anyone. Not even with Edward.” Her gaze dropped towards the floor. “Stacy belongs with Edward, not me. I just wish his parents could understand that.”
“I understand your grace, but there’s not much we can do on the matter. King George specifically explained the importance of this marriage.”
Margaret fought the urge to roll her eyes. “Is it really?” She asked half-sarcastically. “If Stacy were here, I’m sure she could convince them otherwise.” The duchess could hear the music on the other side growing louder as voices began to die down instantly. She felt her breathing grow faster as she tried not to faint from on-coming pressure.
She couldn’t do it. She knew she couldn’t. As much as she cared about duty, her freedom and happiness was something she cared the most. After experiencing what it was like a normal girl, not being tied down by duties or protocols. Being able to wear what she wanted, and overall, be herself. That was the life she wanted, and she’d give anything to live it again.
Her mind was made up. She wasn’t going to marry Edward, even if his parents disapproved of it.
Donatelli noticed Margaret’s hesitancy. Before she could ask what’s wrong, however, the duchess turned around, making a bee-line towards her dressing room without second thought. Perplexed, she followed behind her without missing a beat. “Lady Margaret?” She asked apprehensively. “The ceremony is supposed to start soon.”
Without looking back, Margaret responded. “I know.” She kept on moving. “But I can’t do this. This isn’t what’s right for me.” ‘Telli’s eyes widened as Margaret chucked her veil to the side, soon after kicking off her heels, allowing her to walk freely. “I’m not right to rule Belgravia. Edward needs a partner who knows how to take charge, and that person is Stacy.” Donatelli tried interjecting, but Margaret beat her to it. “You saw how she was, Donatelli. She did wonders for not only Edward, but for everyone else around her. Edward has changed because of her, and admittedly, she helped me change as well.”
Margaret finally stopped in her tracks, took a deep breath and continued. “You told me that love had nothing to do with duty, that I should follow my heart. Don’t you still believe it?”
Donatelli took in Margaret’s pleading look, her own turning sympathetic. “You know I do, Margaret.” Her lips curved into a smile. “And you’re sure this is what you want?”
The Duchess nodded. “More than anything. I just want to see Kevin again. Both him, and Olivia.”
She sighed. “Well, I suppose I can’t stop you.” She thought for a moment, weighing the risks of her whole plan, then continued. “If that’s the case, then I’m coming with you.”
Margaret blinked. “…You are?” She asked. “But what about the King and Queen? You already went behind their backs once because of me. If they know you’re in on this to, they could-“
‘Telli stopped her. “Don’t worry about me. It’s you I’m more concerned about. You’re still my responsibility after all, and I promised your mother I’d always look out for you. Besides, from what you told me about Mr. Richards, he seems more than worth it.”
Margaret felt tears welding at the thought of not losing her. “You…You’d sacrifice your position…for me?”
She gave a firm nod before Margaret threw her arms around her, touched by how dedicated she was.
“Thank you.” The younger woman whispered. “For everything. I don’t think I could ever imagine my life without you.”
The older woman smiled warmly, returning the gesture with as much love. “Mine either.”

Movies I watched in September
I skipped a month again. But not to worry. This is a wrap-up of all the movies I watched in the month of September (2021). I think I maintained a steady ratio throughout but perhaps there’s not as much on the list this time because I wanted to get on with other things, be that work-wise or just trying to get out to the beach as much as possible and make the most of the last dregs of summertime. I went swimming in the sea a lot! But I also got to catch the new James Wan movie, Malignant (twice!) as well as the new James Bond, No Time To Die. Not to mention a couple of classics! My hope again with this list is to introduce people to new movies that they may otherwise not have seen or perhaps have never have heard of. These short reviews are my own subjective opinions on each individual movie. I’m thinking maybe a more informal approach to movie criticism can help include others who are just passing through. So here is every film I watched from the 1st to the 30th of September.
Fanny and Alexander (1982) - 8/10
Coming from Ingmar Bergman, I was surprised to see just how warm this was. I’m a big fan of the Swedish director and while this isn’t my favourite from him (perhaps due to it needing a second watch, or the fact I watched it in three chunks because it’s about three hours long and I overestimated how much time I had in the day) it’s still an interesting departure from what I’ve come to expect from him. Fanny and Alexander is a dreamy Christmassy movie that presents an overarching theme of love, spending a large portion of its runtime just hanging out with this big family on Christmas and showing how close they are. I would love to watch this again at some point in December and see how my opinion shifts but for now, while it could meandre in places, I can’t deny how unique a movie it is.

Another Round (2021) - 10/10
I had seen Thomas Vinterberg’s latest film before this point but this was the first time I got to see it in a cinema. Luckily for me my local independent cinema was showing it one night and while they had a few technical hiccups with setting everything up, the movie itself was still fantastic. Following a handful of school teachers who experiment with whether they can maintain a certain level of blood alcohol throughout the day, Another Round demonstrates a sense of unease and sadness throughout an otherwise comedic tone. These emotions are balanced perfectly, boosting an already intriguing concept that examines our relationship with alcohol from every angle.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) - 4/10
Straight after Another Round, I made my way to the chain cinema to meet up with friends to see the new Marvel movie. At this point, having had my second dose of the Covid vaccine that morning, I was starting to feel the effects and I was not doing well. But I watched the movie anyway, all the while wanting to be in bed. Shang-Chi was massively underwhelming and I’d go as far as to say it was even incompetent. Truth be told,  I like the Marvel Cinematic Universe but from the get-go I already wasn’t hyped for this movie and I was expecting it to be about mediocre but what I got was something a lot worse. I won’t rehash what I’ve already said on this film so if you want to hear me rant about it a bit then I would recommend checking out episode 47 of my podcast, The Sunday Movie Marathon.
Your Name. (2016) - 6/10
Ultimately this was a fun little romance movie but I can’t say I understand why people adore it, nor do I understand why it needed to be animated. For what it’s worth, I found it cute and entertaining but nothing much jumped out to me.
Phil Wang: Philly Philly Wang Wang (2021) - 7/10
I’m always stumped on what to say about stand-up shows. It was good! I enjoyed Phil Wang talking about different things in a funny way and it got some laughs out of me. Admittedly I’m writing this a couple of weeks after watching it but it’s certainly a decent way to spend an hour if you’re looking for something light and fun.
The Lego Batman Movie (2017) - 6/10
I remember seeing this in the cinema with two of my friends and the theatre wasn’t exactly packed but those that were there were either children or parents. But I like The Lego Batman Movie! Clearly this was made by fans of the character as it’s packed with a lot of details and references from old comic runs but as someone who has never read the comics or seen those older movies, it still managed to be entertaining and while I won’t say it’s quite as good as The Lego Movie, the animation is still top notch and the voice actors are certainly giving it their all, especially Will Arnett as the titular character. It’s just a bit of fun!
Tumblr media
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) - 10/10
A friend of mine told me to go to the screening of Terminator 2 at my local because they themselves weren’t able to attend. The first Terminator movie is a real gem and one of the most 80’s-type movies I’ve ever seen. I was excited to watch T2, remembering next to nothing about what I watched of it when I was a child. So it was just me in this screening, with one person in a row in front of me, and one other person behind me. If I had it my way, I would have been the only person there because this is honestly one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and it was very hard not to yell out every time something incredible happened, especially when it’s so action-packed and basically goes all out at every opportunity to deliver some of the most jaw-dropping effects or choreography. Truly there is never a dull moment and I was grinning like a lunatic the entire time. This film rocks!
Mirror (1975) - 7/10
Andrei Tarkovsky is one of my favourite directors and the new Criterion release of his film, Mirror, had been on my shelf for a while. My friend and fellow podcast co-host, Chris, was also interested in watching this movie so we decided we’d give it a watch and review it on the podcast. But this is such a weirdly structured film that the entire way through, neither of us knew what on earth was happening. What we got from the experience is reflected in the episode we made and I would love to watch this again at some point, hopefully with more context and a better understanding of what I’m in for. But in the meantime, you can hear the discussion on episode 46 of the podcast.
The Night House (2021) - 6/10
The Night House is David Bruckner’s follow-up to his previous movie, The Ritual and while I’ll say I prefer The Ritual, this is still a decent watch, just don’t go in expecting horror. More of my thoughts can be found in episode 46 of the podcast.
The Ritual (2017) - 7/10
After watching The Night House, I decided to go back to the director’s previous film, The Ritual and I got a lot more out of it this time around. Themes of guilt and grief permeate the movie and the result is this weird and unnerving film about a group of guys who go hiking in Sweden after the death of one of their friends and encounter dark forces beyond their comprehension. It can be drawn out at times and probably could have been boosted with a better script but there are so many interesting and strange ideas presented that culminate in a haunting third act that it’s worth watching just to see what on earth they’re being hunted by.
Tumblr media
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) - 10/10
Straight after recording an episode about our favourite movies on the podcast, I returned to one of my all-time favourites. Holy Grail is such a fantastically funny movie with so many memorable lines and moments that it’s become a staple in the comedy genre. Setting it in Arthurian England is a surefire way to make sure it stands the test of time, making use of the budget in a way that heightens the comedy, for example: not being able to get horses and so resorting to having a man banging two coconut halves together as they skip through the grassy terrain. It’s the writing that really takes centre stage here; the guys from Monty Python were/are geniuses. A couple more points were made on my podcast so please do listen to that to hear more: Episode 46 of The Sunday Movie Marathon
Malignant (2021) - 7/10
The new James Wan movie was bonkers! I saw this one twice in quick succession without hesitation. To find out why I love it so much, listen to episode 47 of the podcast.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - 8/10
We got a marathon of the first three Nightmare on Elm Street movies on the podcast so we watched them in quick succession within a day. This first movie is a true masterpiece of its time. For more insight, listen to episode 47 of the podcast.
A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985) - 2/10
Quite an embarrassing departure from the genius and fun of the original. Elm Street 2 is not only technically unfulfilling but a wholly unentertaining movie to boot. More thoughts in episode 47 of the podcast.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) - 3/10
While only a few hairs better than its predecessor, Elm Street 3 is still a mere shadow of the original. All in all, these second and third instalments in the franchise have put me off watching any of the others. More thoughts in episode 47 of the podcast.
Tumblr media
Her (2013) - 10/10
Her is at once a beautiful love story between a man and an AI, and a scarily accurate look at how technology is expanding and moving forward. It uses warm colours and smooth camera work to create something that feels homely and safe, juxtaposing the often cold and dark feeling of science-fiction films to tell an intrinsically human story. What would it be like to go through this and what are the hurdles that need to be overcome? Her is a masterpiece of filmmaking and it left me emotionally exhausted in all the right ways.
Alien (1979) - 10/10
First time I’ve seen Alien in the cinema (as I was too busy not being born yet to see it on an initial release) and it was amazing! This is cosmic horror at its best. With all the eerie sound design, slow and deliberate camera movement, and outstanding effects, there’s no wonder as to why this is considered one of the greats and seeing it on the big screen was enthralling.
Aliens (1986) - 8/10
I had never seen Aliens before so the opportunity to see it for the first time in a cinema was one I could not pass up, especially since I was able to see it straight after the first. This is more of an action movie than the first one and as that, it was really something to see. While I don’t think it quite measures up to the original, James Cameron does bring a style to it that makes it something completely different while still feeling in line with its predecessor. A problem I’ve found as time goes on is that I don’t find myself thinking much about Aliens whatsoever and that’s probably down to its characters who generally I found quite weak. I’m already not big on standard action flicks and this is a clear cut above those but it does still fall victim to the trappings. That being said, I would in no way call this bad or even mediocre because it was a lot fun and being able to see it in the cinema is an experience I’m very grateful for.
Gunpowder Milkshake (2021) - 6/10
Gunpowder Milkshake is trying very hard to be John Wick and although it never really manages it, there is still fun to be had with its action (because really that’s all this movie has to offer). There’s a very creative scene in which Karen Gillan has to fight some goons in a hospital with a gun taped to one hand and a scalpel taped to the other, with the caveat being that her arms don’t work. Despite that and a good enough performance from Gillan, the rest is very goofy, with a villain about as intriguing as an advert for life insurance and a story that to say the least, leaves much to be desired.
Tumblr media
I Lost My Body (2019) - 10/10
Another one for the podcast, I Lost My Body is a glorious cerebral animated piece that hits every nerve in my body. Listen to episode 48 for more.
Alice In Wonderland (1951) - 10/10
Perhaps the best early Disney movie in my humble opinion. Alice In Wonderland is complete insanity, doing things simply for the sake of it in a beguiling dreamlike take on Lewis Carroll’s classic book. Listen to episode 48 of The Sunday Movie Marathon for more.
WALL-E (2008) - 9/10
WALL-E is one of Pixar’s best. It is a cautionary tale of where the world is headed wrapped in a sweet story about going to the ends of the solar system in order to help those you love. I do however have one big problem with this movie and you can find out more in episode 48 of the podcast.
Killing Them Softly (2012) - 6/10
A lot about America’s economy at the time, Killing Them Softly goes about showing the lengths people will go to for money and yes it is generally solid with a fantastic speech by Brad Pitt to cap it off, but it cannot avoid meandering scenes of listless dialogue that neither engage me nor make me care about the characters it presents.
Tumblr media
The Dirties (2013) - 6/10
Funny! The Dirties is a mockumentary about two guys making a movie about bullies in their school. While often it was generally chugging along and making me laugh, it tended to err on the side of plain as regards its presentation. A lot of scenes happen for the sake of it and in a movie that’s around an hour and twenty, it’s amazing I still managed to dip out in the latter half. More thoughts in episode 49 of the podcast.
Telstar: The Joe Meek Story (2009) - 3/10
Ah, I really hated this. I don’t even want to talk about it anymore. Just listen to episode 49 of the podcast to hear what I had to say.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017) - 10/10
This is my favourite movie! I got to talk about it on my podcast! Listen to episode 49 of The Sunday Movie Marathon to hear what I have to say!
No Time To Die (2021) - 8/10
Best Bond movie? Perhaps. I’ve not seen every Bond movie but of the ones I have seen (which does include all of Daniel Craig’s run), this is as good as it gets. Despite a near three hour runtime, No Time To Die felt as though it wasted very little. I’ve always complained that I could never follow the plot to these movies because often I simply didn’t care about it; for me it’s more about the action and seeing Daniel Craig be James Bond. No Time To Die does not escape some of the general tropes that often don’t leave me thinking I’ve watched something masterful but what I will say in its favour is that it’s fucking fun! Don’t expect to love it if you already dislike these movies because generally it stays in the same vein as the others before it, but for Bond fans it’s something totally enjoyable. Captivating cinematography, biting fight choreography and action set-pieces, a core struggle for James who actually goes through relatable hardships his time round, coping with being part of a family and trying to keep them safe.
I was happy to see a bit more attention paid to female characters this go round; in a franchise that often glamorizes Bond’s sexual promiscuity and ability to woo any woman he likes, it was much more refreshing to see that he often did need help from a lot of badass, well written female characters.
No Time To Die has been waiting to be released for a long time now and now it’s actually out, I’m pleased it’s not hot garbage. In fact, quite the opposite is true. The final swan song for Craig’s fifteen-year tenure as one of cinema’s most recognisable heroes outdoes all that came before it. Bravo.

As I while away the last few hours before I see TROS, I’m going to spit out one last rant about why Ben must be redeemed.  It’s nothing a million people haven’t said before, nothing groundbreaking, nothing even particularly well organized, but I have to ramble.
20 Reasons Why Ben Solo Must Be Redeemed
1.  Lucas, Abrams, and others have repeatedly stated that the core message of SW is hope.  Saying "Oh, except for that guy.  He's beyond hope" would end the nine-movie arc with a giant fart sound instead of playing into that theme.
2.  He is named after the man Leia called her "only hope" in perhaps the second-most famous line of dialogue in the original trilogy (second only to "I am your father.")
3.  Speaking of fathers, if Ben isn't redeemed it makes Han's sacrifice meaningless.  He laid down his life in an attempt to bring his son back to the Light, and with his dying gesture caressed Ben's face in a forgiving gesture.  Han did not die hating his son.
Ben staying evil would also cheapen Luke's final act.  He used up the last of his life force to face his nephew one last time, to give him one final lesson and warning.
Considering how vocal the fans are who dislike how the original cast were killed off in the sequel trilogy, a surprising number of them want their favorites’ deaths to be futile.
4.  It would vindicate all the fans who have seen the hints and successfully predicted so much of the trilogy already, despite being the target of vicious harassment by a certain, toxic segment of the fandom.
5.  The prodigal son is an ancient trope, and it’s survived for thousands of years because it’s a satisfying story that speaks to a primal need for acceptance and reconciliation.  SW has always drunk deeply from the well of mythology.
6.  Ben remaining on the Dark Side would leave Rey without the companionship of the one person who truly understands her.  Through their Force Bond they know each other with a level of intimacy only a select few ever have.  Rey is the main hero of this trilogy, and heroes in fairy tales get happy endings.
7.  Speaking of fairy tales, that is what the SW saga has been called repeatedly by Lucas and others in the know.  Fairy tales do not end in nihilistic, tragic fashion (at least, not the versions that are widely known and beloved in modern times.)
8.  What message would it send for Ben to stay on the Dark Side?  "Once you do a bad thing, you're tainted forever and might as well not even try to be better"?  Yeah, that sounds like a message Disney would be behind...
9.  Ben has canonically suffered mental abuse since he was born (possibly even in utero).  His character resonates with real-life abuse survivors.  Again, this would send a terrible message to viewers:  "Abuse makes you evil and you can never rise above it."  It also means that he did not choose the Dark Side entirely of his own free will.  He was groomed and lured into it.  It doesn’t absolve him of all responsibility for his actions, obviously, but it does throw a whole lot of gray into the mix, and makes us yearn to know what he would be like without that influence.
10.  It would give Palpatine a victory.  The most evil being in the galaxy would win--if not the war, then a very significant battle.
11.  The Force would remain imbalanced.
12.  Characters are supposed to grow, change, and evolve throughout a story.  If a character ends a trilogy in essentially the same place as they began, that's unsatisfying and, frankly, bad writing.
13.  It would render all the previous movies pointless.  They are the story of the Skywalker family, and if we watched three generations struggle over nine movies only for the result to be “and then their last scion died in disgrace” that would feel like a colossal waste of time.  This is not a Shakespearean tragedy, where such a thing would be fitting; again, it’s a fairy tale.
14.  The movies hit us upside the head with lines like “Nobody’s ever really gone,” “I feel it again, the pull to the light,” and Snoke pointing out that even patricide couldn’t expunge the Light from Ben.  The camera cuts to his face when the word “hope” is spoken.  There are many, many examples of these subtle and not-so-subtle hints.
15.  The books and other expanded universe materials have given us scenes of Ben as a small child, doing and saying cute kid things that make us go “aww.”  That doesn’t strike me as “You should hate this character and cheer for his death.”
16.  Adam’s amazing acting has telegraphed the deep conflict, pain, and suffering of his character time and time again.  How many times did we see him on the verge of tears?  He is utterly miserable on the Dark Side, and even in his moment of supposed victory at the end of TLJ he was clearly broken and devastated.  He is not a cartoon villain cackling madly about the heroes’ downfall.  (That’s Palpatine.  Heh.)
17.  Adam is an artist of great skill and sensitivity who selects his roles with care.  He is not some shallow actor in it for the money.  They talked him into taking the role because of the depth of the character, and the nuance of his journey.  If the ending was “and then he doesn’t learn anything and just dies” I highly doubt Adam would have been interested.
18.  As fandom likes to say, “the man is a walking spoiler,” and it’s so obvious that he is at the heart of the biggest, deepest story beats based on how little we see of him in the trailers and promos.  We see him fighting with a lightsaber, because that’s expected and doesn’t give away the plot, but the significant moments (”But I do” and the bit with Palpatine’s voices) are few and far between.
19.  Perhaps the most important of all:  Leia.  She is one of the most beloved characters in modern cinema, and she earnestly, devoutly, passionately, desperately wants her son back.  Whether her character survives Episode IX or not, to have her left heartbroken about her only child would be unthinkable.  If for no other reason than for Leia's peace of mind, Ben must return to the Light.
20.  On a personal note, I’m still smarting all these years later from how disappointing the conclusion of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy was (the most kickass woman I’d ever seen on screen ended up literally barefoot and pregnant).  That left a gouge in my heart that will never heal.  After years of deep meta analysis and fangirling, for Elizabeth to end up that way, and for the sizzling chemistry between her and Jack to amount to nothing, was devastating.  I dread the thought of a trilogy I’m this invested in dropping the ball that badly again.  Game of Thrones ended up as a dumpster fire, too.  Even the last Harry Potter book was disappointing to me, although not as badly as the previous examples.  Anyway, the point is that I’ve been let down by other franchises in the past several years, and I refuse to see it happen again.

PS3 VS XBOX 360
New Post has been published on https://myupdatesystems.com/2017/04/05/ps3-vs-xbox-360/
PS3 VS XBOX 360
The reign of the Xbox is almost over. As of late the PS3 has been looking better and better. Looks like 2008 will be the year of the PlayStation. PlayStation 3 has many big name titles coming out this year and if the all games from the list are all actually released this year, all we can say is WOW. Note: The following list in no way represents the entire list of exclusive titles for each console. However, it gives us a pretty good idea of the games rumored to be released this year.
PS3:
Resistance 2 (PS3)
Guaranteed success. While the first was a great game and fairly big success, it was still just a launch title. Imagine what they can do after a couple years and games under their belt. 8 player Co-Op! Expect big things from this game.
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (PS3)
Another guaranteed success. Anyone who plays Gran Turismo will grab this game. If you’re a fan, you’re a fan. The visuals continue to improve, HD replays, ’nuff said!
Haze (PS3)
Hopefully the game will finally end it’s long series of delays this year. This game promises some intense action, including 4-player co-op, drop-in, drop-out, split-screen, online, or local multiplayer options. The game continues to impress visually, with not only the quality of graphics, but the very cool, unique design elements.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)
Who doesn’t know about this game? The game is still months away and is already epic. If any game could live up to the hype this game has garnered, leave it to Solid Snake, old or young. Like most of the games on this list, the visuals are amazing. The game looks to pack in an enormous amount of story and gameplay. The game features a immense arsenal of weapons and combat/stealth moves. If you own a PS3, you are almost required to buy this. You know you will.
SOCOM: Confrontation (PS3)
Still early on this title, few details have been released. The game will support up to 32 players online. Customizable weapons much like SOCOM 3. Also like the previous SOCOM games, the focus will be online multiplayer. Early word says this one will go the way of Warhawk, offering online only possibly with a bluetooth headset and all. After all, the original SOCOM kind of pioneered headset use on consoles.
LittleBigPlanet (PS3)
Possibly one of the most innovative, cute, and anticipated games of the year. Little Big Planet looks to expand the PS3 audience with this “build-your-own-game” game. Eat your heart out Nintendo Miis, this game looks great. The shear level of creativity allowed is staggering. The game also supports 4-player co-op and versus. Plus, it’s kid friendly without being offensively cute.
God of War III (PS3)
The PS2 went out with a bang (though it’s still hanging in there) with the original God of War, and most recently it’s sequel, still on the aging console. People have been waiting for a true “next-gen” God of War experience and it looks as though 2008 is gonna be your year, possibly. Not much is know as of yet, however, the games creator, David Jaffe, is no longer working on the series so we’ll just have to wait and see how everything turns out.
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) – Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)
You’re either a fan, or you’re not, though, you’ve got to recognize the scale of the Final Fantasy franchise. The games continue to set graphical standards with every release. The next, XIII, looks to make good on their reputation. Not only are they again improving every visual, and storytelling aspect of the game, they are overhauling the combat as well. The combat in Final Fantasy XIII promises the speed up and intensify the battles.
MotorStorm 2 (PS3) [Teaser Trailer]
Another sequel to a previous PS3 exclusive, MotorStorm 2 hasn’t revealed much, but from the trailer we can expect yet another pre-rendered bar set too high for them to reach with in-game graphics. Don’t get me wrong, the original looked great, but the video they showed a year earlier looked 10-times better. This was the prettiest of all the racers for a while, but we’ll see how the sequel compares to the likes of Gran Turismo 5 HD later this year. Some of the improvements include new cars/trucks/motorcycles, tracks, and best of all, a much needed 4-player split-screen mode. The game’s also said to include 16-player online support.
Killzone 2 (PS3)
So, video and screenshots have shown just how good the game really looks in action. But what about gameplay? The original was not exactly praised by critics, though I quite enjoyed it (minus the large number of glitches). It definitely wasn’t the “Halo Killer” it was touted as. The sequel will have to really prove itself in such a crowded shooter market. Guerrilla Games has yet to reveal any real details on gameplay, i.e. co-op, multiplayer, customization? The game sure does look good though. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
XBOX 360:
Ninja Gaiden II (360)
Finally on to the Xbox 360, I thought we’d never get here. Ninja Gaiden II, the first official, true sequel, promises to up everything that made the original so popular. More action, more bad guys, more blood (almost too much), and more speed. The game’s creators have also addressed the difficulty issues some (many) had with the other games. They’ve said that without dumbing it down, they will be changing the controls in order to improve and lessen the frustration to newcomers. They’re also adding new weapons to the game and a ton of new character animations to keep the visuals fresh.
Too Human (360)
An epic in the making, Too Human is already set to be part of a trilogy. Everyone loves a trilogy. They’ve created an enormous world with a unique technology and organic design. The game is built on story, including a very ambitious new dynamic camera system that’s supposed to always give you the best view of the action during gameplay. The game also features a plethora of RPG elements to keep you interested. As with most RPGs you can upgrade almost everything, from weapons, to armor, to special abilities that extend your combat. The game also features a unique combat system, using the right analog stick for both melee and ranged attacks.
Fable 2 (360)
Sequel to a game that was a giant leap in artificial intelligence, Fable 2 looks to surpass it’s predecessor in every way. The ultimate choice between good and evil. This time your options are even greater. Similar to another Lionhead game, Black & White, the player will be given a pet in order to help you throughout the game, and also as a friend you can bond with. Peter Molyneux, the games creator has said he wants the game to get the player emotionally involved. Just a guess, but you can probably expect that your dog will eventually die. In addition to a game with conscience, the game is one of the first games to introduce money into the game before it’s release. That’s right, you can begin earning gold to spend in Fable 2 before the game ever hits store shelve, thanks to downloadable arcade games on Xbox Live.
Banjo-Kazooie 3 (360)
Very little is know of Bajo-Kazooie 3, if that is in fact it’s name. Rare, the company developing the game, released a short teaser trailer back in September 2006. It really didn’t show any gameplay, however, it did show a new boxy art style you can see in the screenshots above. You can expect the regular Bajo-Kazooie platform elements, collect everything in sight, teamwork to reach different areas and beat different enemies, and large open worlds. The Xbox 360 isn’t exactly known for having many platformers, so this will be a welcome addition. The last time we had a Banjo game was back on the N64.
Gears of War 2 (360)
Do I really have to say anything? Gears of War 2. You knew they would make it. The first was such a huge success, it actually beat Halo for top online multiplayer game, if only because it was the last-gen Halo 2. The game features everything new the Unreal Engine 3 has to offer. More enemies on screen, more destruction, more realistic lighting, and more chainsawing action. Another emergence day awaits us this fall.
Halo Wars
Halo isn’t dead! At least the Halo universe isn’t. Halo Wars is the first Halo game that isn’t a Halo game. It’s a real-time strategy. While the game isn’t being developed solely over at Bungie, it is being developed from the ground up for the Xbox 360 and console gameplay. Meaning they’ve supposedly solved some of the problems that plague many real-time strategy games on consoles. Did you know that Halo was originally a real-time strategy game being developed for the Mac? It’s true.
Splinter Cell: Conviction (360)
The next step for Sam Fisher looks remarkably similar to a Bourne Identity type game. That said, it still looks great. They’ve dropped the green eyed goggles in exchange for a man bag (ala Jack Bauer), hoodie, and beard, and they’ve got a stripped down and dirty, raw, Splinter Cell game where you’re now a fugitive from the law. The new game looks to change more than Sam’s fashion, focusing on what Ubisoft is calling “All new improvisation-based gameplay”. Where your inventory is actually the world around you, pick up and throw chairs, etc. Use crowds to your advantage, similar to Assassin’s Creed. This could be a great way to freshen up the series, or it could go too far from it’s roots and lose fans.
Left 4 Dead (360)
Zombies, Co-Op, Valve, Source, ’nuff said. The “43 in Left 4 Dead actually means something, it’s not just l337 speak. That’s right, 4-player co-op for a zombie first person shooter. A lot of people have high expectations for this one, and it looks like it could live up to them. Not a fan of being human, well they’ve got you covered. You can choose to play as a zombie, or “infected” as they’re called in the game. There are a number of different types of zombies each with different strengths and weaknesses. The brain eating should commence around October.
Alan Wake (360)
Do you like psychological thrillers? Alan Wake is a presented as more of a “movie” like game than a traditional action game. They’re officially calling it a “psychological action thriller”. The game has been in development for a while now (it won GameSpy’s Best of E3 2005) and claims to have a 2008 release date, we’ll see. It looks beautiful, the developer’s have spent a lot of time on really capturing the mood of a thriller. They’ve included full realtime day-to-night lighting and weather effects.
