List of some movies that I enjoy and the books they’re based on which often have different vibes than the movie but both are equally good in different ways
Howl’s Moving Castle: The book is titled the same but has very different vibes (movie is more whimsical fantasy while book feels more like realistic fantasy if that makes sense) and also has two companion books in which Howl and Sophie make appearances! Book by Dianna Wynne Jones
Kiki’s Delivery Service: The book is titled the same but again very different vibes (Movie Kiki deals with depression and losing your passion and Book Kiki is cute little witch dealing with people’s problems in cute little witch ways) Book by Eiko Kadono
Stardust: Book titled the same but different vibes (movie is intense and life threatening adventures, book is more fun travel adventures and much slower paced) Book by Neil Gaiman
The Secret of Moonacre: The book is titled The Little White Horse (similar to Stardust the book is a lot slower paced and less life threatening adventures but just as fun and interesting as well as a lot of characters have more depth to them than in the movie) Book by Elizabeth Goudge
The Last Unicorn: Book has same name (from what I remember the book is almost word for word exactly like the movie) Book by Peter S Beagle
Ella Enchanted: Book has the same name (ok this one is a little more controversial. In my opinion the book has a lot more depth and is a lot more interesting in the world building and characters, and the movie is a horrible adaptation. But if you look at the movie as a completely separate thing it is still enjoyable and has fun songs and is a classic from my childhood) Book by Gail Carson Levine
Mary and the Witch’s Flower: The book is titled The Little Broomstick (I have yet to read it but I have just checked it out so I will make sure to update this once I’ve read it! I expect the book will probably have better world building as the movie was fun but didn’t have time to go into depth and the mechanics of the witch’s world) Book by Mary Stewart
Earwig and the Witch: Book titled the same (I also have yet to read this book but have just checked it out and will update later. I think it’ll probably be similar to what I expect with the Little Broomstick where it will probably show a more developed world) Book by Dianna Wynne Jones
Ronja the Robber’s Daughter: Technically not a movie but a tv series. Book has the same name (I also haven’t read it but have just checked it out and will update but I think the show was very well done story wise though the animation wasn’t my favorite and I expect that it probably followed the book fairly closely) Book by Astrid Lindgren
Avalon High: Book has same name and similar plot but characters are switched around (this is actually one where I like the movie a lot better. I feel like the book is extremely predictable and does exactly what you expect to happen while the movie switches it up in a fun way that I feel like also makes sense and isn’t just doing it for the shock factor) Book by Meg Cabot
Tales From Earthsea: One book from the Earthsea Cycle has the same name (I’ve only read the first two books and so technically haven’t gotten to the book that the movie has been adapted from but it’s on my list and I will update once I eventually get to it. So essentially I’ve read the prequels that lead up to the events in the movie and I’ve heard the movie is vaguely different but has similar themes and plot points to the book) Books by Ursula K Le Guin
That’s all I can think of for now but if you have any suggestions to add let me know and I’ll see if I’ve watched the movie and read the books and if so I’ll make an addition to this post!
#and don’t try to suggest HP I will not be talking about that cuz Rowling is scum#I also won’t be talking about Percy Jackson cuz so many people already talk about it and I enjoy it but this is for less well known books#books#howls moving castle#howls moving castle book#kiki's delivery service#stardust#the last unicorn#the earthsea cycle#Ella enchanted#earwig and the witch#ronja the robber’s daughter#the little broomstick#mary and the witch's flower#the secret of moonacre#the little white horse#Avalon high

I Won’t Leave
Solangelo Week 2k19: Day 5 – “Age Regression / Kid Fic” @solangeloweek
A/N: This is my first and probably last kid fic cuz I don’t get children. Also I can’t remember this time well soooo it mostly aligns with canon probably.
Read on AO3 or FF.Net or Wattpad
Will had lived at camp for some years now. He went home sometimes, but he loved it here at camp. He got to be with his friends! And all his siblings! They taught him all kinds of things, stuff that his old schools never taught. After Apollo claimed him, Will was swept up into the whirlwind that was Cabin 7. People already thought he looked like a mini Apollo, so no one was too surprised. Except Will, of course, who never stopped smiling since the moment the sun symbol appeared over his head. His brothers and sisters whooped and hollered, picking his tiny body up and tossing him in the air as they marched towards their cabin.
Will had never felt so loved and accepted, except by his own mother.
Not long after he settled into the Apollo kid life, Will’s knack for healing became apparent. His innate care for others coupled with his budding powers had his older brother Michael smiling wide with pride. Older campers began calling Will “doctor” just to see him practically glow with joy as he carefully placed band-aids on their cuts.
In Will’s little kid mind, camp was the happiest place on earth. His life outside of camp wasn’t horrible, but the abundance of people, of friends and family, all in one place made his heart swell. Helping in the infirmary and going to classes, Will made sure to get to know everyone at camp.
This included all new, unclaimed demigods that found their way there.
The day that Nico and Bianca di Angelo crash-landed at camp, Will was in the middle of archery class. At this point, he knew he wasn’t going to be the marksmen that some of his siblings were, so really, Will was just enjoying his time in the sun. He blamed his next miss on the commotion coming from the new arrivals.
When everyone rushed over to see what was going on, Will, bless his 11-year old soul, went with one of his siblings to grab a medical kit in case anyone was injured. By the time they reached the crowd, he could hear whispers of two new half-bloods that felt powerful. Will didn’t really know what to make of that, but he did hear that one of them was around his age. He couldn’t wait to meet them!
The crowd dissipated and Will finally got a glimpse of the new kids – the girl was older and talking with a bunch of other girls with bows and arrows, and the boy was the one about his age, talking with Percy Jackson. The boy seemed really excitable and talkative, which made Will even more eager to meet him. But, it would have to wait because Chiron was shooing everyone away to get things sorted out.
It wasn’t until a little later that Will got to talk to the kid.
“Hi!” Will bounded right up to him, bright smile and all. “I’m Will! What’s your name?”
The dark-haired boy turned to him, eyes lighting up on sight. “Hi! My name is Nico. I’m 10.”
“Oh! I’m 11,” Will smiled wide. Then, he noticed the boy, Nico, holding something in his hands. “What’s that?”
Nico gasped with excitement, like he momentarily forgot what he was doing before. “These are my Mythomagic cards!” He shoved them in Will’s face so he could see. “It’s a game! All the characters and monsters are from Greek mythology. Which is real here? Or everywhere, I guess? That’s so cool!”
Will was ecstatic, even if he had never heard of the game before. He nodded enthusiastically anyway. “Yep! It’s all real stuff. My dad is Apollo,” he said with pride.
Nico nodded sagely. “Ah, yeah, that makes sense. I think you kind of look like him. All golden and pretty. I was with him earlier.”
Will deflated a little. “You… you met him?”
“Mhm,” Nico nodded. “I drove his chariot!”
“Oh,” Will looked down and kicked at the grass. “I’ve never met him.”
Nico’s eyes widened in panic that he’d made Will sad. He rushed out, “Well, at least you know who your dad is.” His eyebrows furrowed, as if he wasn’t sure where that came from or if he helped the situation at all.
Will looked back up and met Nico’s eyes. He saw the same sadness and worry he saw in all unclaimed campers’ eyes reflected back at him, the same look he had before he was claimed. He was quick to recover the conversation. “It’s okay! You’re new, and the gods usually don’t claim right away. They’re busy,” he shrugged.
Nico nodded again, but didn’t otherwise respond, a faraway look in his eyes. Will wanted to make everything better, so he blurted out, “Can you teach me?” Nico blinked at Will, clearly confused. “The game. Mythomagic.” Will gestured shyly towards the deck in Nico’s hands.
Will breathed a sigh of relief when he got the reaction he wanted – Nico lit up like he’d discovered buried treasure. “Oh! Yes! Let’s play!” They plopped down right there in the grass, and Nico began chatting up a storm. “Hm, let’s find your dad first! His card looks pretty cool, he’s basically a human sun…” And on their afternoon went.
Will loved his new friend, and his new friend loved camp and the new world he was discovering.
Then, his sister left him.
“It’s not fair!” Nico stomped as he ranted to Will about what was going on. “She just, just left me! Like she doesn’t even care! She joined those hunters that hate boys. They’re gonna make her hate me!” Tears were pooling in his dark brown eyes, but Will wasn’t really sure what to say to make it better.
“You’re her brother – she won’t hate you, Nico.”
“Then why did she leave?” There was desperation in his voice that he tried to cover with anger, but Will heard it loud and clear.
“I… I don’t know.” This was something that he would go to his older brothers for. He had asked the same question about his father, but even then, the only positive response was that he was busy. So many of his siblings resented their father for never visiting them. Will wanted to love his dad, as a kid should, but it was hard to do when he never met the guy.
Nico’s situation was much different from a god. And Will didn’t have an answer. So, he did the next thing he knew to do. Will lunged forward and engulfed Nico in the warmest hug he could muster. Nico was startled for a moment, but he immediately brought his arms up and squeezed tight. It was desperate and fierce, and so very needed. For as long as Nico could remember, which wasn’t much thanks to the Lethe, only his sister ever hugged him like this. Only Bianca knew when Nico needed comfort most. Whether Will was pushing some healing powers out right now or not, Nico felt safe wrapped up in his arms.
“I’m sorry, Nico. But I’m here for you – I won’t leave you.”
Nico smiled a watery smile into Will’s neck, gripping his back a little tighter. “Thanks, Will.”
After a beat, he added, “I won’t leave you either.”

NAME: Chavi GENDER: Male EYE COLOUR: Dark brown HAIR COLOR: Black RELATIONSHIP: SINGLE AF ZODIAC: Saggitarius
FAVOURITE COLOUR: Blue FAVOURITE SEASON: Winter FAVOURITE FLOWER: Probably blue roses! They’re impossible and I love impossible things FAVOURITE PLACE: MY ROOM Anywhere that’s outdoors. I love the outdoors! FAVOURITE HOLIDAY: Christmas FAVOURITE VIDEO GAME: Devil May Cry! Though Metal Gear and Mass Effect are close seconds FAVOURITE BOOK: Probably Percy Jackson: The Son of Neptune LAST SHOW YOU WATCHED: Doctor Who
WHAT’S YOUR HONEST OPINION ABOUT YOUR MUSE?: I absolutely love Tenth! Ninth was my first doctor and I adored him but Ten had a bit more of a spark to him, and his charisma and how he wore his hearts on his sleeve really made me love him. He was just too damn empathetic and happy and I loved that! I also love how, despite his bright, upbeat and happy attitude, he’s still a man weighted down by the choice he made and he REGRETS it but he chooses to do something about it. He chose to live up to his name and do what he does best, MAKE PEOPLE BETTER. ALSO, STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ‘I DON’T WANT TO GO’ IT WAS IN LINE WITH WHAT HE EXPLAINED IN END OF TIME. WOULD YOU BE OKAY WITH BASICALLY DYING IF YOU LIKE YOUR CURRENT BODY AND YOU WANNA LIVE MORE?
WOULD YOU DATE YOUR MUSE?: FUCK YEAH! I WOULD
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE KINDS OF THREADS?: UMMM I’m not gonna lie I’m really interested in potential shippy things with Tenth, but I have no idea how to do that since he’s very emotional and he’s said that he prefers not to see someone he loves die when he won’t die with them (sorta). In terms of genre, I LOVE angst, hurt/comfort, and some fluff to balance out the hurt. Anything that’s gonna give me more chances to explore Tenth’s personality, I’m DOWN.
ARE YOU A SELECTIVE ROLEPLAYER?: A bit yeah. I say semi-selective and that’s true! I like to give everyone a chance because I know I want people to give me a chance too. BUT, I am selective when it comes to certain stuff like, if I don’t really click with your OC (for example) then I’ll pass, as much as that hurts me, or if you write one or two lines to a reply? Then sorry but I’ll pass. Same if you over embellish your writing, it makes it hard for me to comprehend. But generally, I’m a very open person.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSE (IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE)?: I really like writing Big Boss (even though the muse is kinda iffy nowadays), there’s also my OC in the rwby fandom but tbh I have no favourites! I like writing all my boys.
WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE FANDOM?: I was already a Whovian before I made this blog but I had taken a bit of a break cuz I wasn’t caught up with Capaldi’s era. I was actually considering making a 12th blog but I sorta remembered Tenth and well... Things happened, I was SUPER insecure at the time and I made this blog to escape (cuz I thought if I can write a character as cheerful as Ten then that may help me) so yeah! I was also kinda curious to see how the fandom was since I haven’t seen that many Doctor Who RP related stuff before jumping into the fandom. I don’t regret it though! The fandom is freaking amazing, I love y’all!
DO YOU SEE YOURSELF STAYING WITH THE FANDOM FOR A LONG TIME?: I’m not sure, honestly. I do have a tendency to blog hop, especially since I have a few blogs I haven’t been paying attention to (don’t blame me. I can’t play the games and thus the muse suffers) but I love Tenth (and Doctor Who in general) to not try to stick around!
TAGGING: @cammythighs , @followthedrums13 , @raidstombs , @ofnormandy and ANYONE INTERESTED!! I dunno who’s comfy sharing ooc stuff but go for it if you are! - tag me if we’re mutuals!!!! But I’m gonna talk some peeps:
