And specifically American education: Betsy Ross, Rosa Parks, Sacagawea, Harriet Beecher Stowe, the entire Woman’s Rights Movement, the women Code Breakers, nurses, and WASP during WW2, and Margaret Hamilton.
There’s also Madam Curie, Mother Teresa, Mary Shelley.
But outside of that, yes there are a great many women who do not have their names out in history as prominently as they should be (such as Cecilia Payne). But it’s up to us to learn about them.
Not all of education happens before high school graduation. If you want to learn more about many women, especially who you'll only ever hear about if you enter their field they're known in, that requires higher education or personal research just like it would for men who are not very well known either.
I remember sitting in every history class thinking “I wonder when a woman will show up. I wonder when we’ll learn about a woman in history. I wonder when we’ll hear about a woman.” There are many important female historical figures. We don’t hear about them because men don’t want us to. Men are not the only ones who shaped this world; but they like to pretend they are.
