One of my favorite things about the phandom is that while other fandoms fight over if a hc is compatible with a character or not, the phandom takes every hc and runs with it.

You say 'Danny can't cook for shit'? Yes, it's true. It's a Fenton trait.

You say 'Danny and Jazz can cook'? It's also true. They have been preparing their own meals since kids.

You say 'Danny can cook but refuse to eat anything without ecto on it'? Duh, where do you think he gets ghost vitamins?

16: If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

okay so how i would re-do CANON is completely different from how i would talk abt a reboot so im gonna touch on a couple things in both contexts! the reason for the difference is canon rewrites imply i can go back in time and introduce dp fresh and new, before anyone knows what it is; but for a reboot, id be working with an audience that has a better understanding of the source material, so i dont need to spend as much time explaining, but i also need to keep everything recognizable

REWRITE: i would def make it more danny's fault that her dad lost his job, like danny was intentionally being reckless and shattered some security stuff, and he has a whole mini lesson about learning to not just run in guns blazing. i would probably remove the dating stuff with her and danny (and tuckers crush) too, I think them wanting to be good friends is good enough for freshman year

REBOOT: the fandom already knows valerie exists, so i would actually skip the whole shades-of-gray introductory episode and have her be present as the huntress from day 1-- probably even before danny got his powers. cujo is also HER dog, and her backstory-- we'd find out in like, season 1, that a natural ghost portal (maybe one wulf opened) ripped open on her dog and killed him, and since then shes had a vendetta against ghosts cause of how reckless they are and their disregard for life-- of course, cujo isnt actually dead. cujo is a halfa. a puby halfa. anyway instead of a hoverboard she actually rides cujo around cause he can fly and its big and epic. valerie has BEEN amity parks ghost-eradicating superhero for at least a year (tho shes been in the shadows abt it) and her hatred towards danny actually just becomes really petty, like them flying next to each other chasing skulker just going "I got this. no I got this. no I got this" and they just get in each others' way and its a mutual grudge.

BOTH: i am NOT keeping in vlad giving her the suit to watch danny under any circumstances. it was only utilized half assedly in canon (when vlad couldve just had an invisible duplicate watching him instead) anyway, and I dont have any reason to keep it in a reboot either. instead i want her tech to be a combination of half-stolen and half-gerryrigged stuff and she slowly slowly learns how to build her own.

I also dont want anyone knowing her secret identity, except maybe her dad, and sam or tucker. i think it works better if danny isnt privy to this magic info

Freakshow

REWRITE: i would honestly just remove him. the episodes hes in arent particularly interesting, theyre just generic "we need a plot about x" filler and he's not compelling enough a character (at least in writing) to carry a better plot that another antagonist couldnt. i'm serious

REBOOT: unfortunately in a reboot he's gonna have to pop up somewhere or else ppl will be like "where IS HE" so I'm going to stick with running some kind of ghost circus, maybe a few occult things, but cut out a lot of the spooky magical knowledge and mcguffin stuff. maybe i could make him like, someone from vlad/jack/maddies college who always felt pushed around by them and so he has a vendetta? and theyd be the only reason he even learned abt ghosts in the first place. idk in either way I want to force him into being irredeemable but also include LYDIA (the tattoo girl ghost) way more-- I want to give her an arc that ends in her tossing freakshow aside and running off to be a ghost vigilante.

BOTH: dear god the infinity gauntlet is stupid that needs to GO AWAY. especially for the reboot cause it would exist in a post-mcu world and way too many people would complain about it

REWRITE: amp him up to a far more sinister and villainous character. the crushing on maddie isnt enough, I want to show him on-screen performing experiments on ghosts and himself, dismissing everyone else cause he thinks hes smarter than them. i want him to be actively sabotaging the fentons at every turn. i would also clarify that he doesnt actually want danny as a son, but as a trophy-- a line where danny says something along the lines of "you don't want a son. you want a slave". i want to make him a character who wants to destroy the entire planet and put it in the ghost zone so he can be the true ghost king and i want to make this all evident from day one. if i'm writing a series villain you can bet i'm going to write a GOOD one. less petty drama here and more actual stakes.

REBOOT: it seems silly but sense with reboot we have the benefit of hindsight and recognizing that vlad wasn't a big series villain, theres no way i'd actually go back and write him to be such. for starters, of course, theres the fact that anything he does would really be an exaggerated part of the original, and it would bore an audience to see the same story again-- theres also the fact that it doesnt seem right to take a character who was treated as a joke half the time and suddenly make them big and important. no, instead for my reboot i want to lean into the petty gay uncle vibe. he had a crush on jack and now just casually insults him. he moves mansions every now and again by just haunting the family who lives in the one he wants, and taking over-- i mean, who is gonna believe that an actual ghost haunted you. he dislikes danny not because he has some concept of 'evil' and 'good' but bc danny is just too damn active. of course he actually does care about danny and his safety deep down, it's just on the surface they have very conflicting motivations-- not to mention that danny has been raised on legends from his parents of the villainous Wisconsin Ghost, who has to be stopped at all costs.

BOTH: i want jack and maddie to KNOW he's a half ghost and to actively be hunting him down for it, maybe bc they think hes possessed, or been a ghost tricking them this whole time, or the victim of a tragic lab accident who needs to be put to rest, etc. whatever the case it will give vlad actual tangible reason to despise them and genuinely suspect they dont have dannys best interests at heart. i think it would be neat if vlad was cynical and every time danny hit him with the "I'll expose us both. at least theyll still love ME" vlad could be like in the back of his head "oh god theyre going to kill this child"

REWRITE: cut her out. we don't need her character at all. maybe replace her with a more ominous shadow duplicate / clone that actually looks like danny himself and doesnt really have a name? you could probably combine her and dark dans characters for their arcs

REBOOT: instead of a clone from vlad, she's a guys in white creation using some of dannys dna after he was captured (and vlad broke him out bc he was like "ugh i guess i have to save this child")

BOTH: vlad actually cares abt her (duh), shes nonbinary (double duh), she gets the funny dissolve into goo powers

Seen different interpretations of this . The owl house x amphibia au I guess ? What characters do you see being in the calamity trio ?

I know a lot of people think hunter is Sasha just bc angry redeemed blondes but I argue he would be more on the Marcy side of things because we know he’s secretly a big nerd. He’s VERY smart, reads up on mindscapes and about all kinds of magic. He’s a huge dork, and I can see him being very clumsy around willow tbh lol.

Luz being Anne is very obvious, both have similar personalities and are main characters. I don’t think I need to explain that too much.

Amity being Sasha makes sense to me. Amity used to be a bully, Sasha used to be a bully to her friends. Once bad but now redeemed sapphics? Hell yea. Besides, enemies to lovers dynamics for lumity and Sashanne.

As for others !

Eda being hop pop is pretty obvious, she’s old and Luz’s parental figure. However having her own twist, instead of being overly honest she is a lyin crook. King being sprig because duh luz and king friendship. And we have Hooty for polly , because … annoying character that argues with king perhaps.

Now, to add onto my hunter is Marcy theory. King andrias = emperor Belos. Thank you. This one’s kinda obvious. And Darcy = collector. Also obvious.

There are some holes of course, like who would be ivy ? Who would date king? Well they wouldn’t date king, obviously different from sprivy. But it’s safe to say Willow and Gus would be frogs imo. Due to their friendship with Luz, this just seems obvious. Right? Well that’s where you’re WRONG!! Willow would be a toad, giving us some classic amity and Willow friendship. My reasoning? Willow is strong, and toads are seen as the strong, ruffian amphibians in this show. Gus and Willow would be Percy and braddock.

Who would be Olivia and yunan? I hear you ask, well.. I was thinking eber and darius would be the most likely but without the romance for obvious reasons. But I can’t give you genuine reasoning other than potential parental figures to hunter.

In any event that’s kinda my idea but I’m sure I’m the future I’ll have a bit more of an idea . I see a lot of people say hunter = Sasha which I just can’t see lmao

im just rambling here a lot bc im too lazy/sad to get sources to put together another theory. this stuff might matter, might not, who knows these days

themes i discuss: trust/love, truth, time

1.  trust + love, duh

“trust love” is the most obvious theme, with it being the opening song and all - presumably trying to tell us that things will turn around once the characters get their shit together

all our groups have lost trust in each other, and are playing into salem’s hands right? but it’s not really like there was ever complete trust between the groups

i mean, literally the only arguable instance of complete trust is shown by clover to ironwood (as much as i hate it) 

everyone else just vaguely tolerated each other & worked together while they had common goals (ties in with “not friends” “just a job” mentality)

“i do believe in you, but not only you” oscar be slamming more than neo’s face out here

****”i wanted to trust you” sigh

2. in line with that, truth comes up as well

robyn hill’s semblance is quite interesting for a vigilante character, so im assuming it has a literary purpose for something other than ... two? scenes, only one of which she actually uses it 

robyn saying she wont stop until she gets “the whole truth”

team rwby withholding info (ruby from ironwood abt salem, bumblebee from ironwood abt telling robyn, weiss from anyone else abt the winter maiden (?), yang presumably from everyone abt the spring maiden)

ironwood withholding info from solitas until the tower was ready

oscar expresses discomfort about hiding stuff from ironwood

(so does yang but honestly she’s been kinda quiet this volume so idk)

the characters and the fandom have been fighting about who’s wrong here etc, but i think we’re focusing too much on the word “lying” (if someone HAS directly lied this volume, pls correct me) (oh wait ironwood said amity was ready) (well anyway that was around the time things were blowing up so ignoring that)

which interestingly connects to robyn’s line about “the whole truth”. the problem isn’t lies, it’s that nobody has complete information

lack of info made robyn hill suspect ironwood of selfishness, and so started her vigilantism 

lack of info caused jacques schnee to get the council on his side

lack of info also caused the qrow vs clover vs robyn conflict

we know how much lacking the info about watts + tyrian messed a LOT of stuff

+++ all the hiding i already mentioned above

and the solution now doesn’t lie (heh) with what they’re hiding from each other anymore, since by this time shit’s hitting all the fans and truth bombs are dropping left and right between them

right now, there’s probably something none of them know that will shift the tide

the opening again matches this idea with the line below - all the characters are blindsided somehow. they don’t have all the cards (stretch clover symbolism? dont care, blake n yang killed vine zeki anyway) so to speak

3. and most interesting to me, a lot of talk about needing time in this volume 

off the top of my head, variations of “we just need a little more time” is said by Ironwood during a meeting, Winter to Weiss, Yang/Blake to Robyn, Nora to Mantle 

“the timeline has changed” is said by cinder and ironwood both, on separate occasions

***suddenly i remembered penny’s line about preparing for “six possible outcomes”, and that’s a time travel trope if i’ve ever seen one

speaking of fair game - the whole problem with them last episode was that the possibility of any real relationship is abruptly cut off (again, “i wanted to trust you”, meaning it could have eventually happened but time was against them)

the opening song sets the concept of time up as something that will heal shattered hope, but there hasn’t been a point like that yet other than the qrow/clover cliffhanger

i mean unless it’s some lame “time will heal all wounds” schtick, but i doubt that lol

(im sure this has been extensively discussed by the oscar time travel semblance theory enthusiasts already but HEY hope y’all got something new)

CONCLUSION:

Dogs or cats: the question above I didn’t answer bc I’m indecisive but this one I can’t answer because I have a cat and two dogs and how can I choose a favorite? Like my 8-year-old dog is so sweet and cute and she likes going on walks for at least an hour with me and I love her but my 8-month-old dog is a piece of shit who tears people apart but she’s also really cute and she can be really fun when she’s not giving you really bad bruises bc you made the mistake of trying to play frisbee with her and now you have to walk around looking like someone dropped a fridge on your arms for two weeks but then what about cats right like my cat was like 12 or 13 when I got him last year and he’s an old man and he just curls up on my bed all day and sleeps on my Supernatural blanket and then I go to bed and he sleeps on my sweatshirt on the floor until like 8 am when he decides it’s a good time to crawl on my bed and tap me in the face until I wake up and ahhhhhh I just love themmmmm

Hour of sleep: I spend at least 12 hours lying in bed with the lights out and my phone away every night but how much of that is sleep and how much is eternally cringing at my horrible life decisions is unknown

Blankets: I. LOVE. BLANKETS. I have to move my stuff into college on Monday and I had an existential crisis trying to figure out what to do with my blankets like my mom got me a super soft, super warm cat blanket for Christmas specifically for school so that’s gonna come and I wanna bring my Supernatural blanket bc that’s good for a warmer night and I wanna bring my Frozen blanket because it’s so warm and fuzzy and I wanna bring my snowman blanket I got as a Christmas gift from dance last year bc it’s so cozy and I wanna bring my super soft blanket I got from work for Black Friday last year bc it’s super soft but I wanna bring the yeti blanket with the hood and buttons and mittens built in which I got from work the Black Friday before that one because duh who wouldn’t want to bring that and I wanna bring all my blankets right except I also have two weeks at home after I move my stuff in and I won’t have space to bring more blankets when I move in on the 31st bc half my duffel bag is going to be my giant stuffed Perry the Platypus I got from a friend a few months ago so I’m leaving my snowman one on the couch downstairs and my work one on my bed and my yeti’s gonna hang out by the closet with my similar Olaf blanket (that’s meant for little kids and does not fit which I didn’t know when I bought but but at least I worked at Target at the time so I got an employee discount?) probably until I come home for Thanksgiving and I’ll take my yeti blanket back with me then and wow this was a really long answer but in my defense it was a very open-ended question

I found a whole bunch of fun people in the Dwampyverse fandom and it’s like our own little private party in a dark corner of tumblr and it’s honestly the most fun I’ve ever had in a fandom, and that’s coming from someone who’s been in the Supernatural fandom for five years)

Reason for URL: I use the phrase “I would die for _______” way too much in my everyday life and I couldn’t think of a witty URL so I went with that lmao
