This is Regulus when James “breaks up” with him after they have been in a situation ship for a year and James has happily moved on with Lily but he continuously reaches out because he still wants to be friends. It’s not like he can just pretend James doesn’t exist, after all, Sirius is his brother and James’ best friend. They are constantly running in the same social circle.
