sorry i said this would take several hours and then spent several days on it i care too much.

im only listing songs they've posted themself bc i'll be honest they do a lot of comm songs & i've lost track of all of them & this would get just way too extensive if i did so

kyuuyaku hankagai - the definitive magu song to me its really got everything. its heavy its dramatic the weight of the scenario gets across in every part of the composition. the part at like 3:24 where the bell tolls & u can really feel that sense of time running out. how long and high the notes are just being the perfect representation of screaming out of stress and fear and panic. how the rute furute woa & nami no ne no motifs mix into it so so well. i could go on about this song forever not even exaggerating ive never loved a song more.

oumen mokushiroku - the atmosphere of this one is so pretty yet so intense. the slower very pretty sounds like ur in a cathedral vibe into undeniably more intense edm & the way the two are mixed flawlessly together i love it i love it i love it. the way it reflects her state of mind, the shock of realizing her times almost up at the beginning shown with nothing but the rain that gradually works its way into something heavier with all her pleas, the feeling of panic & desperation it gets across, everything building up until she finally lies to herself it'll be better for everyone & ending so quietly as theres nothing more to be done no way to change the outcome she has no choice but to accept its over for her. its so good both in and out of series context for real

kugutsu ashura - the thing that sells me on this is always the last lyric section theres just something so so emotional about it. and it feels like every motif in the series should be in there and yet no matter how hard i try to find it in either the vocals or just the instrumental they arent there. after the heavy whole rest of the song the part from the ugate iine sono rensa line is just so bright and decisive and has so so much in it it makes the whole song for me. also i have mad respect for making a whole song out of words that are so mildly different sounding from each other. and magu says theyre bad at words. whats all this then. amazing to me. 

kannagi - i swear this song is permanently stuck in my head the rhythm & the melody are just so easy to listen to. i'll be going about my day not listening to it & suddenly im tapping it out or singing it without thinking. the fact that not even the jpn fans were sure if it was a made of language or old time jpn. & i think the majority of it Was deciphered but theeres still some overlooked lines i dont have the time to figure out myself (old jpn into modern jpn into eng). but even then u can feel a sort of hopeful regret in all of it. that feeling of "i meant well but it still ended up like this". i adore this song i really do. 

yamete kudasai - I LOVE THIS SONG this character could be my best friend fr. following orders bc its what u think u should do only to realize too late ur not urself anymore and get mad & complain about it. i love her we're the same. also its just a really fun song rhythm wise. bu bu bubun bu bu bubun... i also adore when the train crossing bells are used in songs its like my favorite thing ever feels like home to me

kafu-eine - KAFEINE!!!!!!!! for a while before this i was thinking someone should make a kafu themed coffee song like kafu-ccino or something imagine how i felt when my favorite producer did it better than i could ever think of. also i have a spiritual attachment to this song bc yelling kafu with the whole rest of the club & magu themself was by far the best moment of my life

aru sekai shoushitsu - i have very strong opinions on this song everyone who says its too long are missing the point. yes its 11 minutes long. if u would pay attention for 2 minutes u would realize how intentional that is & that its SHOWING the very themes the song is describing. also even being 11 minutes long this is the easy song to listen to ive ever heard the rhythm of everything is just perfect it really doesnt feel like 11 minutes at worst it feels like a 4 minute song u dont remember putting on repeat. this song gives me a headache when i think too hard about bc its SO direct and to the point it leaves out context (thats what the other songs are for so its fine) that makes it impossible to understand on its own but u get the context from other songs & ur like oh damn it really meant that directly they really just told us that. flawless first song that continues to hold up with the rest of the series songs 10/10

marshall maximizer - can i be honest with u the piano chords in this song remind me of pokemon dppt's route 216 music (which i love). anyway i love this song i dont think its overrated at all i think its perfectly rated although i do think a lot of people dont really think about what its saying so much as its fun to listen to. we love sunk cost fallacy the song!!!!! tabete! sugu nete! ushi ni naru! okite! mata nete! hito de nashi?!!! u will always be famous to me. it has a sort of unaffected vibe compared to other series songs despite her very clearly being aware of whats happening & that interests me. also shout out to the mini novel in the middle just flat out telling us what happens when someones not a "person" anymore. although this character's indifference to it means it didnt really hit me until laboratory. 

red rose - idk compass at all but THIS SONG GOES SO HARDDD.  AKAKI HOLY RAAAAAAAAAIN!!!!!!! theres a feeling of strength in this song its like impossible for me to feel bad while listening to it. its just really good really solid. its also my friend who also a Huge magu fans favorite song so it get extra points. im in the process of making a rime cover of it btw if u didnt know. 

laboratory - ive never had a song tear me apart this badly before. its so heavy and direct it took me like a whole month or more to process it when i came out and even now if i start thinking about it too hard i feel a little sick to my stomach. its exactly what maximizer was describing but from the opposite perspective. she doesnt want to die. she would do anything to take a step back and have another chance. but she ignored all the warning signs & overlooked the details and now she's passed the point of no return and all she can do is watch it happen to herself. and the dubstep drops just add to the whole feeling of when ur panicking so hard everything feels like its spinning and unstable and theres nothing to hold onto. and this is also my favorite usage of rime ive ever heard shes SOOOOOO cute and smooth thank u magu for the food im begging u to use her again. 

rasshaina - its just a really fun halloween song. it think its really funny that they tried being scary & even wrote a mini novel in it about like copious amounts of blood filling a room and its STILL no where as terrifying as laboratory is. zero complaints on this song and the word play is really really fun. 

nadenna - super cute zirai song. i was so happy when this came out & i still love it. i dont have anything profound to say its just a fun song. 

antenna39 - THIS IS SUCH A FUN SONG IM SO HAPPY THEY GOT TO DO THE MAGIMIRA THEME THATS SUCH AN HONOR..... my vocaP doing such an influential song love that for them. i unfortunately missed the ticket window for magimira itself but it was super fun in the club & i like to listen to it on the train to events really gets me in a fun excited mood i love it a lot i get a little emotionally overwhelmed listening to it sometimes but like positive emotions so its fine. 

unplanned apoptosis - i have 2 opinions on this song and the first is i understand her entirely and shes so right to be Like That. the second is wow girl why are we acting like this it seems a bit over dramatic and nonsensical. shes such a brat she awful WHY are u so mean. but also shes got the whole world ending repeatedly & her closest friend(?) just died permanently possibly bc of her & she didn't even get a chance to say anything about it or to her so like yeah i get it she deserves a meltdown or too. but u just know shes also awful in general too look at how she talks come ON girl. i think about her constantly. the instrumental too just really embodies that panic and instability of a breakdown total whirlwind of a song i think its really well handled. the fact even some of the lyrics kind of switch tone from hiding/ignoring something to accidentally letting the truth through idk its a fascinating song. i get her im her #1 apologist. i would also trip her down the stairs given the first opportunity to do so. 

kanon - this song had me worried magu was going to do maximizer but different as their usual music but that didnt happen its fine like ah it was an intentional choice [saying this they tossed a large rock from behind their back] i always think im neutral on this one until i hear it and i absolutely lose my mind over it. daremo gisei ni nanka naranai sonna risou ni sugatteshimatta in particular drives me INSANE. like YEAH. YEAH that wouldve been nice wouldnt it. wouldnt it. i like how this girl also admits to lying like in a i just wanted them to listen to me way & now she regrets it deeply. its like a totally different regret from kannagi tho. very solid song. also like the little coded text in the bg implying(?stating?) the whole things their fault in the first place and now they cant fix what they started. 

saiken romanesque - i'll be honest i just like thinking about this as a ship song for the girlies. like yes both of the girlies Are this producer's ocs no this song is not actually about them even slightly. but im insane enough to make it work. one day i'll finish the coko (+kafu & rime) cover of this that i started like 2 years ago. 

shuuen touhikou - putting a series song this low feels wrong & my opinion of it HAS improved since realizing the rute furute woa motif is like. a thing. & is most of the instrumental in this song. sorry this is just the least impactful of the series songs to me. thats not saying much however i would defend this song with my life. the.  mikitte isso nigeteshimaetara has gotten me thru so much. sometimes u really do just have to say ashi wa mada & do things scared. if i put it on by choice im neutral about it if it comes on when im not expecting it i Lose My Mind i do love it a lot. 

realize - im still waiting for kohane solo vocals on this. im SOOOOOOOO happy magu got a comm song in proseka i was begging for shuuen touhikou or maximizer to get in for the longest time and then they said magu comm song for vbs and i was like YESSSS. its a really good fun song too. i want to ap master in proseka one day but my wrists have been too fucked to practice it 😔😔

perfection - i again have no familiarity with the source material here but the song is really solid. nice full sound with miku & the piano to give it a very pretty touch

tetoris - i dont know how this exploded i think kafu-eine is the better meme song BUT it is a really fun song. bouncy rhythm. te te te teto teto te te te tetoris!! very fun. theres actually a lot in it too if u care to look (i have not yet beyond what they explained themself). they said they were having a rough time & they only ended up finishing it bc of a friends tweet & it kinda shows its very much a depression song. thats a neutral statement not a complaint. 

uni - this ones cute. nice to have a rain theme magu song thats not a series song. just some cute gumiku. i started a kafu lapis cover of this and never got anywhere with it oops. it has a sort of sparkly feeling like sun bouncing off raindrops very fitting as expected of magu

retry - i actually DID read several chapters of the source material specifically bc of this song (it was not my thing) and its really neat to see magu doing time loops outside of aru sekai series . its such a similar theme but done so entirely differently & its really fun to see them handle it as such. going from series songs where the world is dying & everyone's right to exist as a person is on the line at the same time to this where its just a boy getting in situations & making it his problem to solve is like. refreshing in a way. 

fabric flower - this one as well idk the source material but the stories really clear from this song. this feels like an experimental type of song for them its so much lighter than just about everything else theyve done before or since. were it not for the magu signature piano & chord progression i would not recognize this as a magu song if i didnt already know. i actually do like how the story in it is told i think its a really good solid song but given the choice i usually listen to their other songs instead. 

im not including comm songs they havent posted themself but honorable mention to viper they wrote for kankan. AMAZING song its my fave comm song of theirs i think it'd be like 7.5 on this list i think. mugen kyoukaisou for araki also ranks high as does dimension for isekaijoucho.

Worst movie:

I have honestly now idea. I thought of the movie "Die goldene Rute" (transl.: Hot Spanking Rod). And NO, it is not porn. It's just so stupid and silly, but then I remembered that it's literally a comedy and supposed to be like that. So honestly, I can't think of the worst movie at the moment. Might come to me when I least think about it.

Favourite movie and why: I have a few favourites

Howl's Moving Castle -> simply for the beautiful story and the slow paced comfort it gives me. The slow pace in which the story progresses is such a beautiful change to the fast pace of normal movies nowadays. It's a peaceful aura thatt makes me feel like nothing bad could happen. And I always cry when Howl and Sophie fall in love, it kills me cause that's the kind of love I want to have as well. Someone who's searching for me and eventually will find me when I least expect it.

Spirited Away -> almost the same reason as Howl's Moving Castle. It's a beautifully written and executed movie with a slow pace and some great comfort moments.

Shawshank Redemption -> I'm a sucker for this drama, like no joke. The acting and the setting is just so immaculate. The question whether Andy did kill his wife or not is always there, even if there are moments where you doubt he could ever do anything criminal. But still, I just love this movie for every reason

Fight Club -> "You met me at a very strange time in my life." Probably one of my favourite movie quotes. But then again, the entire Movie is so quote-worthy, it's absolutely brilliant with the way it shifts from a dude who can't sleep to the detailed attack on consumerism and attempted destruction of all social order.

Ten Things I Hate About You -> one of the classic movies from the 90s, I love it. I know I talked to someone about this movie recently (I forgot who), but it's one of those movies I simply adore for all the right reasons. First of all, the main girl (if you can call her that) is so headstrong and independent. The premise of her falling in love doesn't equal her being saved or finding self worth or a place to belong, which is usually the case with romance. It's simply her falling in love. Sure the guy (played by the beautiful and late Heath Ledger) screws up, but he's so honest and redeems himself, he opens up and shares things he never shared. Sometime through the movie he didn't even wanna take money anymore, I think that shows his genuine intention clear, even though he got persuaded by the amount and eventually took it (bastard). But everything about this movie is so fucking great from start to finish.

One movie I'm planning to watch:

The Boy and the Heron -> mostly cause it's ghibli but I've also seen a few gifs of it and heard bits of the story which confused me so I really wanna watch it.

So...I decided that, what the heck!  While I’m waiting to fix up the last two Regions for the Gaia Pokedex Project, I might as well talk about my Muses, their spouses, and their former dorm-mates (some of whom are siblings to said Muses...hi Salah, Leon).  Namely...why I chose some of their Pokemon.  For people that have a lot, I’ll speak about only a few, or group them together if it’s the same reason.  You...don’t want me going through ALL of Rutee or Lufia’s Pokemon.

We’ll just do the six Muses now...since they’re the main people that inspire me and my insanity!

Teefa:  Vulpix was her first ever ‘mon, because I adored Brock’s Vulpix in the anime and loved foxes in general.  With her getting Zorua and Fennekin, she started getting a fox theme (broken only by the Popplio she got from Lufia) and I gave her a Nickit as a result this gen.  However, due to the Alolan Variants, I decided to change her Ninetales (what...she eventually Evolved her) to an Alolapix because A) it’s my favorite Alolan Form and B) it now didn’t clash with Fennekin for Type Coverage.  Of course...I’ve yet to change it on my sheet because I’m an idiot (I have Ability/Movesent/Nature on the list).

Lufia:  Having a ton, I’ll keep this brief.  Her first ‘mon was a Pikachu for very special reasons.  That being, before the big Tales of Destiny obsession, Lufia was the Muse who got the most craziness thrown at her (as it was just her assisting Teefa and as I’ve said Arcana has crap all for a story).  So when we saw how bonkers Pikachu was in the anime...Lufia had to have one just like Ash!  Though it’s very fitting...Flash/Bolt/Thunder are stupidly broken in the original Lufia game and it was the titular heroine who had them! Other ‘mons of interest are a Houndoom (reincarnation of a Death Goddess), Absol (Dark is Not Freaking Evil for Erim post-character development), and Hatterene (it’s a witch motif Psychic/Fairy...why not for this mega mage).

Rutee:  Vaporeon...FULL STOP!  I got Pokemon Blue for the holidays, then brought Tales of Destiny at Toys R Us a day or two later.  Rutee is a Water user in a love triangle with a Fire and Lightning user...kinda like the Gen I Eevees.  She...kinda ended up with all but Jolteon and Flareon for a gag as a result...

Samantha:  Hitmonlee/Lopunny/Mienshao...all fighters (this was decided after Lopunny’s Mega was revealed).  Samantha is one of the best female fighters in the group.

Burianne:  Persian was her first, but her Slurpuff and Vanilluxe are the result of her bottomless pit stomach.

Phoebe:  Dewgong...lives in an area frozen over...

Akuyaku Reijou? Iie, Gokuaku Reijou desu wa 1

A satisfying novel about a girl deciding to break free of her cage. This was very different from what I was expecting it to be, in a good way. The marketing for this is weird. Unlike what the title and cover would suggest, the protagonist, Roselia, is actually a very kind person, though she does have her cunning moments. She smiles to cover up her true feelings but not... like that. Renveild, the grinning boy on the cover, is much the same and I’m not sure why they’re grinning like that on the cover when they never seem to in the actual volume...Well, I must admit that I may not have read this if not for the intriguing cover but still.

Anyhow, I really liked this volume. It had a cute romance and charming characters and was just really fun to read. I’m excited to read the next one when it comes out in February! Recommended for fans of sweet romance stories.

Story:

Genre: Romance, Otome game setting, Isekai (kind of - the protagonist isn’t the one who was isekai’d), Made for girls

Roselia is known as the “Rose Princess” - a being that is said to cause a calamity - and is thus confined to her house, shut away from the outside world. One day, a knight named Cadio wonders into her garden by accident. Their meeting triggers a change in Roselia that will affect the future of the world.

There’s is a reincarnation element but Roselia is not the reincarnated one so it’s quite refreshing, in that regard. Instead, Cadio and Rutee, the protagonist of the original game, are reincarnated. I really liked this element, especially as Cadio confides in Roselia about his reincarnation which was really nice to see. I’d like to see more isekai stories where the reincarnated person talks to someone else about it.

The romance between Roselia and Cadio is incredibly sweet and adorable. They're equals at every turn and it's a joy to see them learn more about each other. The pacing was also really good and the writing style was smooth and easy to follow and the story manages to make itself stand out among other reincarnated-in-an-otome-game light novels. I really enjoyed myself reading this and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Character:

Roselia is an incredibly charming protagonist and I really liked her. It was nice seeing her break out of her cage of her own free will. Cadio is very cute with his love of sweets and honest personality and his relationship with Roselia is sweet. I was very satisfied with most of the character journeys in this volume, though were two characters that stuck out as underdeveloped. Even Roselia's servants get some good development. There are two other female characters, aside from Roselia, but neither of them are developed until late in the volume so there isn’t much female friendship going on.

Adaptation Notes:

The manga adaptation is illustrated by Konami Asato and the first 4 chapters are available to read for free on web-ace.jp. It's quite good so far and Asato's art conveys the characters well.

Recommended for:

People who enjoy isekai plots, as well as fans of sweet romance.

I'll definitely be buying the next volune when it comes out on February.

It's definitely viewpoint question. And I personaly don't work in the industry so it's only just a subjective commentar.

Although I need to say the good quility sometimes is equal with budget. The bigger studios have bigger budget with designer and dressmaker teams. Sometimes 20 people work simultaneously on only one dress, while with lower budget or for indie films they only have one or two person, sometimes without any dressmakers, just stylists.

And as @xenadd said, the time period, deadlines, suppliers, all are important parts of the industry and could be costly.

And there is clearly a difference between cinematic films or stream films or shows. Shows need more durable costumes for permanent use, while in films it's only one film.

For example The Witcher's designer needed to rewamp for the second season when they had good costumes and really bad ones. The first designs were usable, but ugly, the second's are giving more 'LOOK' vibes, but seems little unpractical.

I personally adore 101/102 Dalmations (1996, 2000) and Anthony Powell's work in that films. And yes, the Cruella (2021) movie was kind of disappointment to me, where they took away Cruella De Vil theatrical costumes.

HOWEVER as someone already point out in the comments the 'disney' Cinderella(2015) was phenomenal, Sandy Powell (mainly for the female leads) and Maheen Khan (mainly for the male lead) did a really good and quality job to recreate the fairy tale vibes with princessy way.

And there is Black Panther (2018) which was also in full with beautifull costumes. Rute E. Carter showed me so much culture that I didn't know about before.

And beside dizníj... (I don't like the new era 'Disney direction' in films, but I like their costumes.) ... there is other really cool movies with beautifull costumes.

For example the DC costumes are magnificent. I know lot of people has problems with them, BUT those are really good designs to me with a lot of inspiration from comics. I really don't know how many women (and men also) recreated the Wonder Woman /1984 (2017/2020) costumes, and that shows its value as good designs. And I will not start on The Batman (2022) design because I will not shut up.

And also Coming 2 America (2021) has also marvelious design -again- from Ruth E. Carter. It's a Paramount/Amazon production and the photos speaks themselves.

Or there is the segment that I didn't mention yet, the HISTORICAL (fiction) shows/films. Emma, Little Women, Bridgerton, ecetere are really popular right now and some of them have good and accurate costumes with quility.

the decrease in costuming quality over the last 20 years has been soooo precipitous & nauseating. i’m not even talking abt marvel’s cg supersuits or anything this time, look at the fabric quality, structure, layering, character, and craftsmanship of older costumes in 102 dalmations (2000) vs cruella (2021)

ever after (1998) vs cinderella (2021)

lord of the rings (2001-2003) vs the rings of power (2022)

this trend should upset you not just because it looks cheap, but because it suggests a strong anti-art and anti-labor movement in film and tv making. don’t forget costumers are unionized

what if i went off about some of my favorite songs ever

kyuuyaku hankagai - hiiragi magnetite: everyone knows i love this. i just love everything about it. we really get both sides of the picture story wise with it- both the fact the world is literally, physically getting destroyed, and all of the mental torment the characters are dealing with. it still has that magu series weird wording but it gets everything across that it needs to. the instrumental is just as heavy as the scenario with added dramatics in parts that really make it for me. all the long notes to simulate screaming. the seamless addition of both the nami no ne no & rute furute woa motifs (& a possible 3rd? theres still parts in here i cant figure out yet) makes me so emotional. if u have no idea about the series its still a solid song. 10000/10 i cannot fully express my love for this song in words i just need it on repeat full volume for weeks on end.

For Rose:

How I feel about this character: I went into Zestiria knowing absolutely nothing about her - no, for real, I actually kind of ignored a lot of Zestiria’s promotional material (just wait until you get to my answer for Sorey, anon, you guys are going to laugh so hard at me  XD).  So I didn’t know anything about Alisha leaving the party, I didn’t know anything about the fandom reaction (although I’d heard it got a lot of negative reviews, but I’m very much a “I’ll withhold my judgment until I’ve actually seen/read/played the thing myself” type).  So my initial reaction to her?  Damn, she’s an awesome assassin.  I wanna play her.  And as I got to know her better, and got to know her history and the world lore for Zestiria, she made more and more sense to me.  I also love that she wasn’t set up to be Sorey’s Love Interest either (that role was very very very definitely taken by the water seraph in the party, much to my shock and surprise, lol) and she was shown as a successful businesswoman and assassin, and honestly, I love her.  She wants to make the world a better place, and she’s not afraid to go all the way and do what she feels is right.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Alisha, low-key, not really a major ship, but if it’s written well, or drawn well, I’ll read/reblog it.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Sorey.  I love their dynamic, I love that she recognizes Sorey’s shortcomings and his reluctance to take a life, and I love that she’s willing to cover his weaknesses with her strength.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I didn’t find it all that puzzling that she didn’t generate malevolence as an assassin, especially after taking Berseria’s story and lore into account.  What generates malevolence isn’t so much the action, but the emotion behind it.  What sets Rose apart is that she has no doubts as to what she does.  She believes in what she does and her mission and that it’s the best way to make the world a better place.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I do wish they’d been a little clearer in terms of what actually happened that day with the prince, Rose, Dezel, and Symonne, because that is, to me one of the weakest parts of Zestiria’s otherwise excellent writing.

For Sorey:

How I feel about this character: Sweet cinnamon roll, just wants to see all the ruins in the world with his basically-immortal boyfriend, just wants everyone to get along, human and seraphim alike.  Oh, and did I mention whenever he smiles it’s like the sun’s come out?  No, really, that’s Sorey right there.  He’s also super determined, loves ruins, and adores Mikleo.  He might be a bit rash at times, charging headlong into things, but he always keeps his friends’ safety in mind, always thanking them when they help him out of a tight spot or just to show his appreciation for them coming along in the first place.  Especially Mikleo, since he gushes about him all the time, even when there should be other priorities.  Like, say, getting away from a hellionized Cardinal Forton, lol.  I also just love how he manages to have this ideal, this heavily romanticized notion of what it means to be a Shepherd, actually becomes the Shepherd, and then sees the world and how it responds to him, but never once starts resenting the world or hating the mantle of Shepherd - if anything, all these hurdles he faces only makes him more determined to do what he can to make the world a better place.

EDIT: I can’t believe I forgot to mention this, but, I initially didn’t much care for Sorey with the initial promo material release.  I thought he was going to be another Lloyd, or Stahn - really idealistic, book dumb, sleeps all the time.  Then I actually played the game and actually got to know him, and man did my opinion do a 180, lol.  Basically over the course of my first playthrough I went from “shrug Not a bias, he looks like he’s going to be another typical nice guy Tales lead” to “He’s a sweet nice guy with a massive crush on his Childhood Best Friend, and I must stan and protect him at every turn”.  What can I say?  Actually playing the game and getting to know him made a huge difference, lol.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Rose and Alisha.  I just love the dynamic he has with both girls, which are entirely platonic, in my opinion.

My unpopular opinion about this character: He’s not bland, he’s not boring, he’s not dumb - Sorey’s actually really book smart and grows a lot as a character.  It’s not obvious or fed to you on a plate, but it’s there if you stop and take a moment to think about it and do all the side quests.  He starts off very idealistic, and he really does remain that way all game, but he also learns about the world and how much he’d have to sacrifice to save it and possibly change it.  And in the end, he really does give up everything - Zenrus, the only parental figure he’s ever had in his life; the rest of his life as a human, in exchange for purifying Maotelus; his human friends, since he knows it’s going to be centuries before he awakens again; and Mikleo, in a way, because even if they reunite in the end, that’s still centuries of time Mikleo experienced and grew without him.  And honestly, tell me this - how many characters can go through everything, see everything, and still kill the man who made them kill their father figure without harboring some sense of anger or revenge?  Sorey’s strength of character shines through in that one moment, because he kills Heldalf in the end, not out of a sense of revenge or anger, but to free him from his suffering as a Mercy Kill.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.  Y’know, I’m pretty happy with his story, but I would have loved a Big Damned Kiss with Mikleo, complete with the romantic strings and camera pans, lol.  After everything both boys have been through, they’ve earned that happily ever after in that second epilogue.

How I feel about this character: I LOVE HIM??? i didnt expect to, honestly, and at first glance he didn’t really stand out to me, but stahn’s such a ray of sunshine that it soon grew impossible not to like him. the exact moment he managed to endear himself to me was when i was playing PSX Destiny, trying to walk around and get richer by looting, only for stahn to tell me “this isn’t mine, i should put it back.” i tried it so many times because that’s sort of the expectation with modern rpgs, right (and granted, psx isn’t very modern, but i was playing it in 2016 soooo), but he told me that every time and it was such a unexpected thing that i kind of laughed and loved him a little more right away. i adore stahn to death and he’s one of my, if not my favourite Tales protagonist. 

All the people I ship romantically with this character: ahaha i’m sure it’s entirely clear already but– my OTP is Stahn/Leon. it’s a doomed ship, but i’m just so entirely sold on their dynamic in the remake? leon tries so hard to push everyone away but stahn never gave up on him, even for a second, and it worked! leon was about to take his hand! not that it mattered considering what ended up happening lmao but of all the party members, i don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say he affected leon most. and stahn’s raging grief immediately following leon’s death was completely heartbreaking. 

…i actually do ship Stahn and Rutee together as well, i think they bonded nicely and were a good match, too, it’s just that everything else tends to get buried under my passion for Stahn/Leon…

My non-romantic OTP for this character: everyone in the party, really, but that answer is cheating so i think i’ll settle for Dymlos? compare their dynamic from the start, when Dymlos is mostly exasperated, to the mutual respect and bond they shared at the end…it was great.

My unpopular opinion about this character: what even is an unpopular opinion about stahn…uh, i guess sometimes i see people calling him a boring shounen stereotype who doesn’t develop, and that’s super wrong. stahn develops nicely throughout the game without ever changing the core of who he is, and i love that about him. the first half of the game allowed him to be naive and innocent, and then boom the second half happens and we see him crack under the pressure - only to eventually push himself back up again, surpassing the others and emerging as a true hero. 

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i’m pretty satisfied with his character arc, haha. i think the one thing i would’ve loved to see a little more is just Happy Family Times with kyle and rutee, but that’s just me being indulgent because i’d just happily sit down to watch an entire slice of life show about them, lol. not really a story necessity.
