Omggggg yessss. like, he’s been waiting to see you for this reason more than anything. Sure you’ve sent him a “bump update” while he was away and he calls and FaceTimes every chance he gets, but seeing it in person is different. he walks through the door, drops his bags and rushes towards you. But as soon as he gets to you, he’s reluctant. Suddenly it occurs to him that he can’t just hug and squeeze the living hell out of you. And he’s worried he’s not delicate enough. we all love fisk and zon and Komodo, but babes, I wanna know what the SIBLING DYNAMICS are with Zak and Lola?

omggggg when I think about it honestly, I really want them to have the sort of relationship that Drew and Doyle would have had they not been separated. Like it could have been so easy to just make her a contrasting character to Zak; a perfect goody Two-Shoes to his reckless cocky hero boy behavior, but the two of them aren't just that and they have a lot in common. 

In spite of the fact that they just picked her up and have only had her for like a year or so, Lola has a great relationship with Zak's parents as much as he does, (which is something I'm planning on touching up on later) they both have a deep and profound love for all living creatures, especially cryptids, and Zak loves that he has someone he can show all of this stuff too, someone who can't help but look at everything with whimsy and wonder. (Just the way cryptids should be looked at) they are both very creative and good at coming up with quick schemes and plans on the fly, and they both love doing things like actively traveling and helping cryptids. 

Lola, having been trapped in a box her whole life, loves the travel, loves learning new things, and absolutely loves the fact that she's got this group of weirdos that she gets to spend all of her time with that actually enjoy teaching her these things. 

I think the only difference is being that Lola can get herself into trouble more often than Zak does.

I think both kids are likely neurodivergent, I'm not quite sure how but I'm super certain that their brains operate in a fundamentally different way, Lola especially. Being a telepath has to make it so you think and see things differently, it just has to. 

Lola is a tryhard and gives everything 110%. Perhaps her biggest issue is that she's too kind and helpful to the point where she does things like forget to do her own projects or take care of herself, or sometimes she's just straight up forgetful.

Zak meanwhile has had his self-esteem issues ever since the whole cryptid war debacle and the death of Van Rook and Argost and everything-as we've watched him fall into a depression over the course of the show. I can see him starting to grow a little bit resentful and maybe even lash out a few times as he grows up, and I don't see him doing any of this out of contempt or malice; he just genuinely doesn't know what else to do with himself. Plus he doesn't really feel like he can talk to his family about these things, because he is Kur, and at the end of the day that is just something his parents cannot help him with. As much as he wishes they could and as much as they wish they could, it's not in the cards.

Therefore, I prescribe him therapy. He will go to the best therapist in the whole world, and the great City of Cairo and speak with one of the best minds on the planet, him and his sister. Who better to help a young God than another god? And it's a good thing too, cuz he needs all the help he can get.

Back to the point though-yes I want them to be siblings, yes I want there to be playful sibling bickering and banter, but more so I want them to love each other like a real family. I want them to admire one another, like Lola learning from Zak whenever they go somewhere new and different, or Zak learning to lead with Love when he isn't quite sure if he knows he can.

At the end of the day, all I want is for Zak to love his big little sister and for Lola to adore her little big brother and for them to hang out and make friendship bracelets for all their friends.
