Okay, so— like.

I’m doing drag queen/king camp this week and HOLY CRAP I did not realize the amount of thought and effort that goes into this work of art. Like, kudos to all the drag icons because it’s only day one and I’m scrambling to try and figure everything out.

All I know is I am neither drag king or queen, I am a drag thing. At least, that’s what they’re referring to it as.

Like, I want my performance to confuse the heck out of the audience over what my persona’s gender is. Are they male? Female? Nonbinary? Yes and no all at the same time.

I feel like that’s part of the idea I want to portray here. I’m a cis female (I don’t care if ppl refer to me as “they” irl or online tho, it doesn’t bother me), but I always referred to myself as a “tomboy” growing up for one reason or another. I want this character to challenge the very gender roles that we as a society fostered into being. Breaking boundaries and being between the lines of what constitutes as a “man” or a “woman”, that’s what I want my persona to represent. They don’t fit into any one category, simply because they don’t need to. They’re just a person. A silly goober, if you will.

As for the fit— thanks to my friend’s advisement — I’m thinking of a 1940s Flapper Dress paired with some more masc attire in shoes, makeup, and maybe hat and tie. It would be very fun and something I’d honestly wear outside of drag. Like DANG 1940s fits are FIRE 🔥! I can get a top hat, add the feathers, wear the gloves, etc. (Yes my friends told me I should make the drag outfit Batim inspired since it’s my fixation and maybe this is my excuse for that, but I really do enjoy the Golden Era of film and media culture of that time period. Either way it works in my favor)

And, of course, I couldn’t resist taking some inspiration from Luz’s Grom outfit from The Owl House. Can you blame me though? I mean, look at it!

Coming up with names and a personality is something I’m going to have to come up with later in the week when I have more time. :3

So sorry if I’m not as active on any of my accounts this week. I’ll try to write when I can, but I have a lot on my plate between work, school, and planning my drag persona and performance. Maybe I’ll ramble more about this if anyone is interested. For now… I need to study (Y’all I was sick all last week and didn’t go to school and apparently I have an exam tomorrow that I didn’t study for I’m SO cooked 🙏😭)

Speaking of unhinged and homophobic fan fiction... I’m a writer but I am on the fence about ever publishing any of my work mainly bc of TRAs.

I write lesbian romance and my current book has two butch lesbians as the main characters who are in love <3 (there are absolutely no males in my story at all, which I know would not go over well with those male-worshipping TRAs) and I know if for some reason the TRAs ever got a hold of my book they would trans the FUCK out of my babies 😭😭😭

Like I couldn’t imagine waking up and logging onto Tumblr Dot Com to see some TIF taking my butch lesbian character and being like, “omg guys she’s so masc what if she’s actually trans in denial.... here is some fanart of HIM with top surgery scars after he finally accepts himself uwu” or “I totally HC her as a trans woman!!!! She has a big cock and balls that her lesbian gf loves ❤️❤️❤️”

Like I could handle people giving them silly HCs like “she actually pours the cereal before the milk” or some shit but I could NOT deal with people being misogynistic and homophobic to my babies under the guise of being progressive

Yeaaaahhhh, like I'm not trying to say people can't draw or write Optimus or Orion as being more soft or "submissive" or whatever. Do what you want with those characters, I'm not the fandom police, but there's a point where it becomes weird.

Like you're taking a guy, you're taking Optimus fucking Prime and rewriting his character so not only is his agency just gone but his entire being revolves around being the cutesy boyfriend in a ship with a big masc man and nothing else, he's seemingly incapable of doing anything he's proven to be skillful in... despite being a very strong and courageous character...

also yeah I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels very weird about the Orion being blind AU, I'm not against the idea, I think it could be interesting but all they really did (last time I saw it and a bunch of the art for it) was take a character, make them disabled, and suddenly they need to be coddled around and rescued by an abled person from a fight that IN CHARACTER they could've done something about or didn't have to cry like a child about it... like someone in the comments of my post said, it's bordering on ableism, but I don't wanna label anyone.

uh sorry for such a long answer.. i doubt you expected this.

so I would prefer if women/fem people didn't read my masc reader stories (or at least interact) because i made it specifically for male/masc readers in mind. i write readers with male anatomy, and I'll be writing transmasc/transmen readers too. two things i don't think women can relate to. also things I don't think trans fem would want to read.

saying that as a trans guy, cuz personally I don't always enjoy being reminded of my anatomy and being transfem isn't exactly relatable to me, so i dont see how they might enjoy masc readers. yes some might for some reason but im saying me personally.

also, I feel like I'll usually be writing male characters, so it'll be making it a gay (or queer, whatever you want to call it) couple, and i personally js find it weird, for a woman wanting to read and imagine herself in a gay relationship with a character im writing as queer. also it sort of makes me uncomfortable

oh and also !! honestly, I feel like fem readers get almost everything. its hard to find male readers fics sometimes, or even gn reades fics that dont somehow feminize the reader. usually making them afab, which isn't all that bad but it automatically feels like a fem reader for me. dont get me wrong, i will write afab gn readers but i might masculine them in a way (and honestly its accidental bc i usually only write abt masc characters), that is if the request doesn't specify wanting them completely neutral.

the issue is that venti's never rlly taken seriously, when that's such a discredit to his character. being serious isn't fun! he likes to have fun! if he was serious all the time, he might actually collapse under the weight of it all! he's a free spirit. it makes sense for his character to be light n playful like the wind. but guess what? decarabian also used wind. andrius uses wind. xiao uses wind. wind can be smthn dark n scary n serious n heavy. i live in a valley, so i know this well. umbrella? not anymore, that shit's broken cause u held it at the wrong angle for just a second.
