I've been reading some of your recent fics and I've decided to take you up on that yap offer. so hi!! I'm here to yap about how much I love baby jily in Method Acting and what if!! what if they actually dated as super young teenaged babies (speaking as a matronly twenty something).

because (and here's where I get yappish actually) I love the idea of them being each other's first love/relationship but it feels hard to rationalize if they begin dating post 5th year as per canon. we do see this in fics with james (first kiss ever with lily in 6th/7th year anyone? because he waited. and obnoxiously asked her out. no hate though I read a ton of those back in the day. along with a lot of wattpad stuff.. #embracethecringe)

okay my point is!! jily being a cute and awkward couple, and james being super honest and earnest (you did that so well in this fic btw. had to snap myself out of a crush on a 13 year old💀) I wonder how that would play out? what do you think?

maybe a second chances thing with miscommunication. we can't put too much angst on baby jily right

I think it would be super cute (and possibly canon friendly!) if baby first-third year jily had a little puppy love relationship. Like, you know the kind where you hold hands and tell your friends you are ‘together’ but you really are just pals that draw hearts for each other. Of course Snape would blow that shit up immediately…but that’s neither here nor there.

But obviously to continue in canon they would have to have a fallout of some sort (but then again 12-13 year olds need like zero reasons to have a massive explosion of feelings)

In any case, I’m glad I’ve captured that age in Method Acting for you! I worked really REALLY hard to try to check myself with how they acted because my wheelhouse has always been 16/17+ jily where the feelings are more adult (ish) and (if I’m going to age myself) it’s been a while since I’ve been a wee 12 year old with big scary feelings…
