“Atsushi.”

The younger man couldn’t respond. His back was against the wall, hands raised as he tried to sink back further into the cool material behind him. The longer Dazai stared down at him, the worst his giggle fits got.

“Atsushi.” He said again, earning a squeaky laugh from the weretiger. “I haven’t even touched you yet.”

“I-I knhoohohw!” The shorter man tried to catch his breath, but even the slightest glace at Dazai’s smiling face made him choke. “Lohoohohk away!”

“Nope. I don’t want to.”

Atsushi was about to retort with something snippy when Dazai attacked, latching onto his waist with ten tickly fingers. “AH! Ahehahahhhahaha, wahahhahait, whahahhahait hohoohohohld ohohoohohon! I whahahhahsn’t reahhahahhady!”

A brief pause, Dazai grinning at him. “Are you ready now?”

Atsushi gasped, breathless. Then he nodded. “Yes-AH!” Those fingers came back quickly. “Wahhahait wahhahahait!”

“Tch, can’t decide? Are you ready or are you not?” Dazai mock rolled his eyes as he paused once more, fighting down a giggle at Atsushi’s doubled over state. “Ready?”

“Hohohld on..hohohohld oohohon..” With a final breath, he nodded. “I’m re-EHEHEHEHEH!”

“Whatcha say? I couldn’t hear you.” Dazai snickered as he moved targets, one hand clawing at Atsushi’s belly while the other squeezed along the base of his ribs. “Are you ready yet? Huh? Are you?”

“Ahehahahahhahah! Dahahahhahazahahahahai!” Atsushi tried grabbing his wrists, pushed at his shoulders, kicked him- nothing could ward off the mischievous man before him!

Granted- he wasn’t trying all that hard, but still!

“Aww, Atsushi! Where you going?” Dazai cooed at him, following the red faced weretiger down as he kept up his playful assault. “You can’t run away after telling me to wait so much! Tickle tickle tickle tickle~”

“And just like that, nothing is done.” Kunikida closed his notebook when he couldn’t ignore the pair’s giggle fits any longer. “Atsushi, go for the neck. He’s-”

“AH! AHEHAHHA AHHTHUSHI!”

“Oh, good- you found it.”

it's been said before and i'm sure said better than i can phrase it. but really, really - if you like making "i'm going to kill myself" jokes, please try switching to being ironically conceited instead.

anytime something goes wrong, say things like "ah well at least i'm beautiful and charming and everyone loves me." when you forget something, try "my big huge brain is so smart and thinking about too many other very big wizardly thoughts you wouldn't even understand." when you're frustrated by one of your symptoms, start talking like you're in My Immortal. "Life has come for me but my eyes are beautiful pools of gorgeous fire and my hair is amazing. I stuck my middle finger up at life and told it to fuck off and it did."

just... try it for a month or two. try saying the most absurdly self-congratulatory shit you can think of.

i know it's tempting to make suicide or self-harm jokes. and for me at least, a decade ago (!) when someone suggested i stop making those kinds of jokes, i was kind of at a loss for what to replace them with. i wanted to make light of these moments, but genuinely (at the time) my first thought really was suicidal ideation. there was a part of me that even felt like ... i was kind of "making light" of that voice. that if i could say i want to die lol, it would help take the sting out of that genuine (albeit passive) desire. like i could turn my illness into a joke.

when i started complimenting myself instead, it felt awkward and stupid. it felt really, really ironic. what i was actually saying was nobody would ever think this stuff about me, that's what makes it so fucking funny.

but. the effect was immediate. first thing i noticed was the people around me. when i dropped a glass and said ah my skin is too beautiful and sleek the glass has swooned and broken for me, other people were suddenly overjoyed to jump in with the joke. rather than making an awkward moment, we'd both start cracking up. ah princess sleek hands, i've heard of you.

i was 19. i hadn't noticed i'd been making others tense when i said i want it all to end. i know now that it's incredibly hard to know how to walk that moment - do you talk to them about your concern? do you potentially make them uncomfortable by asking if they're okay? do you ignore the situation? do you help them pick up the glass, or do they need to do it by themselves? are they genuinely made suicidal over this small moment? and most importantly, how do you - without professional training or supplies - actually help?

most people want to help you pick up the glass in your life, they just have no fucking idea how to do it. they don't want to make anything worse. they don't want to make assumptions about you. they love you, they're scared for you - and being scared makes people kind of freeze up. it's not because they don't love you. it's because they do.

now when something bad happens, my first thought is how can i make a stupid joke about this. it isn't my brain saying you're a dumb fucking bitch. i spend more time laughing. i spend more time being gentle with myself. i spend more time feeling good.

and the thing is - what's kind of funny - is that you'd be surprised by how many people agree with you. the first time i said i'm too pretty to understand that, someone else said to be fair you're the prettiest person in this room. i promise - you really don't know how kindly your friends see you. but they love you for a reason. they sort of reverse-velveteen-rabbit you. your weird and ugly spots fade away and you just become... the love they want to give you.

go love yourself ironically. the worst thing that happens is that you end up tricking your reflection into actually loving you.

For Dr Stone - Francois knows all of Ryusui’s tickle spots even though they never took advantage of them personally, so in the stone world after the two of them are woken up and shenanigans ensue involving Ryusui, Francois rats him out and he feels so betrayed 🤣

(I know you’re a fan of RyuSaka so maybe could work out for that shipping somehow? 👀 Your choice!! 😊)

*flying leap hug at you with all my love* FRIEND! This is amazing and I'm giggling like a goon writing this akjreakjlrkjaejrkejk The chance to write Ryusaka is upon us, and I am SOARING! Also Francois causally betraying Ryusui makes me laugh alot! (Would they canonically do this?.....yeah, probably ajirkjlearkjeakj) I've gotcha covered!

“Ha HA! You are quick to believe in petty rumors, Tsukasa, but I assure you they are just that!” Ryusui threw his head back with a howl at the question, hands on his hips as if to hold himself together. “A sailor’s word is rarely false, so I’ll tell you this: I am not ticklish whatsoever!”

“Quite the reaction to such a simple question.” The bigger man was more amused than anything else, crossing his arms thoughtfully as he watched the other squirm. He was full of it- that much was obvious,  but without a game plan, the truth would never be found. “So you’re saying if I were to tickle you now, you wouldn’t react?”

“Not at all!”

“Okay- put your arms up then.”

“I cannot. I stink.”

“We all do- it’s just the nature of this world.”

“But I especially stink! I’m so greedy, I desire the entire world’s odor. I’m far too selfish to share it with you.”

“Come now, young master- you’re being far too silly this afternoon.” Francois shook their head as they passed through, having overheard the conversation. “Besides- it wouldn’t be much of an attempt- Master Ryusui isn’t ticklish under his arms.”

“Ha! See?” Ryusui puffed, satisfied.

“He’s far more ticklish along his waist and ribs. Gentle pressure mainly.”

Satisfaction turned to shock and betrayal as Ryusui gaped, twisting to stare. “Et Tu, Francois?!”

“Thank you, Francois. I appreciate it.” Tsukasa nodded at him in thanks before gathering his boyfriend up around the waist, going for the spots they mentioned. Within seconds, Ryusui was giggling up a storm, feet kicking against the sand as he squirmed and danced. “Surely you knew this was going to happen when you insisted on tickling me, yes?”

“Gehahhahaha! Aheahhahahahha! F-Frahhahahncois, yoohoohohu betrahhahahhayed me-EHEHEHEHEHHEHEEH!” Ryusui squealed when fingers pressed into the particularly bad spot along his hips. “HEHEHEHHHELP!”

“Apologies, young master. I’m afraid I cannot help you out of this one.” Francois smiled to themself as they walked back towards their original duties. “After all- you’ve brought this on yourself. Next time you’ll think before tickling me.”
