Finn and Zero Ref(Lost Prince AU)

AND THEN THERE'S THIS ASSHOLE! He's not that bad to draw if I remove the shoes & mask but jfc his shoes are harder than Shadow's. This fucker's shoes look like he stole an Inkling/Octoling's shoes if you look at 3D models.

I guess it's finally time to explain the ghost & some comments I made in the Pride Month post.

So yeah I gave Infinite a dad, for some reason I got inspired by a fic on A03(I still have a link but the fic has been deleted) were Sonic apparently knew Infinite in the past back when he was Finn & despite Infinite being a war criminal Sonic wanted to help him thanks to past memories/promise. Yeah I've turned this into that thing I did with Sally.

Asides from the fact I named Infinite's dad Finn due to the fic that I got inspiration for him from I also gave Infinite the name Zero because that & sometimes Finn were popular names to give him when he wasn't being Infinite.

I kinda find it interesting to see Infinite redeemed, I wasn't sure at first but some stuff involving Infinite was interesting & I've kinda made Mephile redeemed in the past.(Grant it it's him in a reboot of the world & actually feels guilt for his past actions now that he's lived in a time were he got to have a life)

I dunno why but I gave Infinite movie Robotnik's outfit, I guess it looks fitting.

Finn:

Finn was one of Sonic's friends growing up, Finn use to live down the road from Sonic's adopted parents before Robotnik attacked & burnt Sonic's house down. They eventually met again when Finn started living with the part of the resistance Chuck lived with. By the time they meet again when Sonic is traveling with his siblings Finn was an active member of the resistance, traveling around to help while also hoping to run into Sonic.

Finn was an energetic guy, while he can't keep up with Sonic's speed he loves the thrill of running with him & is fairly fast. After losing his home & moving into a community the resistance was in Finn realized he wanted to help & started doing what he was able to since he was to young to go on missions. Helping out with the younger kids & making sure everyone was ok lead to helping him become a leader figure, when he met Sonic again he stayed by his side & helped him get along with everyone. As he got older Finn helped on missions, traveling to other areas to help the resistances in those areas & tell them what news he could.

He was devastated when Sonic went missing but eventually tried to move on for his & Sonic's sake keeping Sonic's memory alive. He eventually moved to the main land with his son & retired to a life of peace(along with maybe secretly doing some writing) eventually taking up painting. While a strong & smart man he sadly was growing weak in his old age thanks to becoming ill, despite moving on Sonic was always on his mind at times leading to telling his family about Sonic to keep his memory alive. In his dying days he hoped for the best for Zero, hiding some important things for him which was common for people back during the war.

Infinite/Zero:

Zero's life had a lot of ups & downs, mostly downs from losing his mom at a young age to constantly getting in trouble as a kid. The only things that kept him going were his father Finn & his ragtag group of friends that eventually became the Jackal Squad.

Zero lost his father a few days after the ill man fell down the stairs during their final argument about Zero being brought home by the police. Zero was heart broken but Finn never blamed him & was more worried about Zero being on his own. Zero & his friends eventually disappeared only to show up as the Jackal Squad only to later lose them when Shadow fought them after Zero chose to work for Eggman. He eventually went mad from not being strong enough & past mistakes leading to allowing Eggman to use him for the Phantom Ruby.

After the events of Sonic Forces at some point he was found while everyone was rebuilding, he was wondering alone & without the Phantom Ruby. It seems the unknown time he was gone & also getting the Phantom Ruby removed he'd come out of his insanity enough to regret a lot of life choices. Surprisingly Sonic is the one to allow him to redeem himself despite some of his friends(Shadow, Rouge & Knuckles, Vanillia if she was there) knowing fully well Sonic was terrified & traumatized.

Sonic wanted to try & give him a second chance since he could see Zero regretted his actions with a clearer head & something seemed to make Sonic talk the others into letting him redeem himself. Zero is currently being kept an eye on by some of the ex-resistance(from Sonic Forces not Underground) & staying Gadget, who has finally returned from traveling & helping out.

It's a long journey & frustrating on both sides but Zero is still going, trying to prove he's not going to become Infinite again & growing close to Gadget & Sonic. Now if only he could figure out why Sonic thought he was Finn, he can't help but faintly remember his dad telling him about a blue hedgehog. After losing Finn Zero has kept his favorite bandana safe & now wears it over where the Phantom Ruby was.

Weirdly enough originally a couple weeks back(when I posted this originally on DA) I wasn't sure how I wanted to go with Zero, at some point at the time I wanted to make it seem like there was doubt Zero was Infinite but imply he was either a clone or some how part of Infinite was in a clone body.

Zero's memories would allow him to answer some questions but also make him at times question if he's the real Infinite, either way he's willing to be punished for Infinite's crimes as he feels guilt for his other self's actions. In the end I wasn't sure if I wanted nothing to happen so Infinite is gone & Zero is doing better or Infinite shows up, tries to attack but is either defeated by Gadget & Zero or Zero defeats him, they become whole again with Zero in control & continuing his community service while everyone is more positive about him now that he's shown he's not evil.

Yeah everything but Finn is a mess. Funny enough for a little I wasn't sure if I wanted Zero to be Finn's son or grandson before settling on being Finn's son.

I have been planning this fic for Zero for literally almost a year (no joke man), but I haven’t had the time to fully write it out, but dammit, I’m gonna share how he meets each squad member. Please note that I’m calling them by the names that I’ve seen a lot of people use for them, but I’ll describe them to help y’all.

Zero finds Tempest (AKA, the only girl jackal present) first. She was a solo bounty hunter and she was after the same bounty as him, so naturally, they clashed. They ended up working together, though, and through their combined skills, finished the job. They split the bounty. Zero asked if she wanted to work with him for future jobs, and she said yes, since they got the job done easier together. It became a permanent relationship and they’ve been best friends ever since. She operates as his second in command and is in charge of weaponry, since she has extensive knowledge over it.

Then, they met Lance (the fellow with the brown gloves and red bandanna). Lance was one of their bounties, believe it or not. He was setting fires to different buildings and was known to create homemade bombs. By day, he lived life as a travelling mechanic, but at night, he was an arsonist and bomber. He mostly went after debt collector buildings, where he burned people’s debts and took down corrupt people who would steal money and leave people impoverished. Zero and Tempest ended up teaming up with him when they found out the person who gave them the job was corrupt themselves. To get away from the commotion, Lance hotwired a car and they all rode off together, laughing at the look of shock on their client’s face when they sold him out. Lance also operated as a bit of a handyman around the hideout, and is, as Jay lovingly refers to him, a “Jackal of all trades”. 

Next, they met Jay (smiley boy with the green bandanna). He was by no means a hardened criminal, but he wasn’t an angel, either. He had a hard home life, but the boy was wicked smart, so he ran away to pursue his dreams, since he knew he wouldn’t get to otherwise. On the streets, he became good at fighting and defending himself, but he was even better at scamming for money. He hustled strangers for money and often pick pocketed people. He’s also hella computer savvy and quick with math and calculations, as well as recognizing patterns and analysis in general. The squad met him when he tried to steal Zero’s sword, since it looked valuable, but it ended up backfiring (obviously). When Zero confronted him over it, he realized that he had actually messed with mercenaries (and kinda well-known ones at that), so he apologized and gave it back. He noticed their equipment was rundown and asked them how they were operating their budget for equipment and stuff and was met with a simple “what” from all three squad members. When Jay came up with an on-the-fly budget for them and showed his tech skills, Zero essentially adopted the kid and made him their money manager, as well as their IT guy. Jay better honed his skills as a fighter and joined them on raids soon after. (Fun note: he calls Lance his “bandanna bro” and Lance will never admit it, but he loves it.)

Finally, there’s Pierce (jackal with the red beret). Pierce was a military brat, so he traveled a lot with his family. He grew up in European countries and developed an accent from it (as well as some European slang). He also speaks multiple languages fluently. His family was stationed out in the desert where the squad operates. He had planned on attaining a medical degree, but his father wanted him to enlist instead, so Pierce was forced into learning combat and working out. Pierce, however, studied extensively in secret and became incredibly knowledgeable about medicine, first aid, and doctoral practices. He ended up getting into a huge blowup with his father over it, and he father forbade him from pursuing his dream. He ran away and worked odd jobs at stores in towns to try to scrape by. One night when he was alone after work, he was jumped by some guys. To his surprise, Jay jumped in and saved him, but got hurt, so Pierce tended to him and ended up taking Jay to the squad’s hideout since Jay insisted on avoiding the hospital. When he got there, he was met with weapons by everyone, but when he showed he wanted to help, they let him. Pierce tended to Jay, and then to the rest of the squad when he noted some of their injuries, too. They offered to let him stay for the night, but he ended up staying permanently when he showed his merit.

Essentially, Zero met each of the squadmates and just adopted them into his squad. There are other random tidbits I want to add, but it might be better to make it a separate post since this one is long enough.

The Lucky Batch

Relocated

Foxy had many ideas, most of them could be perceived as terrible.

This wasn’t one of those moments. This was worse.

“We’re going to die!” Mozzarella screeched, clinging to the tank cannon for dear life. “Why do I always listen to you!?”

“Because I’m lucky!” Foxy grinned, swinging onto the head of the tank. He pushed up the hatch, smiling down at the droid inside. “Begone, Bot!” he yelled, pulling the head off.

He dropped inside, looking at all of the blinking lights. Mozzarella fell in after him, landing upside down as usual.

“What do we do?”

“Dunno, didn’t think I’d make it things far,” he shrugged, starting to press buttons.

With blaster fire raining from all around them, the clones did whatever they could to hold their ground.

“You’ve got another one, CT-2002!” yelled his brother, dragging in an injured shiny. 

Pepper wiped the sweat from his brow, the heat and stress gnawing at his jugular. With supplies dwindling by the minute, he was resorting to primeval methods of saving his patients.

As he looked down at the latest patient, he found the body of the Commander. The Padawan was a child, having only served Master Laverna for only a few weeks. 

The wounds were to her leg, burning and festering, blood leaking through cracked skin. A blaster shot from the looks of it, a direct hit. 

He investigated the wound, the heat bearing down on them without mercy. He felt the leg, trying to ignore the girl’s cries of agony. The bolt cut through her clothing and through the bone and out the other side.

She needed a bacta tank in order to save the leg. As it wasn’t possible, he had to do what he could to keep her alive.

He doesn’t have a saw, but Springer has a knife. 

Biting his lip, he gave the girl some cloth to bite on. She looked at him teary eyed, knowing what he was going to do. 

Pepper held her hand as he prepared to cut through, Springer holding the leg still, shaking in fear. 

The cloth did little to muffle her cries as Pepper cut through her flesh, removing the sickly part from her body. It’d infect her bloodstream, something even the jedi can’t heal. 

As the bone was already separated, Pepper managed to cut through without hacking. He ripped a piece of metal from outside the tent and pressed it against the wound, burning and cauterizing it. 

“Next,” Pepper panted, not wiping the blood from his hands. 

“You need a break,” Springer said, worried for his brother. 

“I’m the only one here with a modicum of medical training. I break when we’re off this pit of a planet,” CT-2002 answered, feeling sorry for the young padawan. 

The General entered the tent, looking for their injured student. Dolos pounced to the girl’s side, looking over her injuries and Pepper’s improvisation.

“You cut her leg off,” Laverna scowled, disgusted by Pepper.

“Unless you’ve gone blind, General, I worked with what I have, which is nothing. I have more patients,” the medic sighed, walking away from the Cathar.

As the night started to fall, Foxy looked for his twin, excited to tell him about his big day. When he entered the barracks, however, Peppy wasn’t there. Mozzarella and Springer were, however, which was still cool.

“The moron is gonna kill himself at this rate,” Springer sighed, unaware that Foxy was standing there. “I don’t think he’s even eating.”

“It’s that hyperfocusing thing. When he’s in the zone, there’s no coming out of it,” Mozzarella added, rubbing his eyes. “General Laverna has been pissy all evening. Know what that’s about?”

“Aye. Commander Teles lost her leg in combat. The General has been upset over it. I mean, I can get why. I overheard from the Captain that he lost his last Padawan to something similar.”

Foxy made his way to the medic tent, looking for his twin. He walked through the narrow path in the middle, bodies packed next to each other. He could smell the gangrene, the infections and death.

He saw some fellow ARCs lift a clone, taking them outside to a pit with fire. A way to keep the bodies from infecting other people as they didn’t have time to bury.

They didn’t have the recourses for a lot of things. 

In a corner, he saw the shape of his twin, able to recognise him from a mile away. Guessing that this was a bad day, Foxy carefully sat next to his twin, looking over a body covered with a sheet.

“The cut was too low,” Pepper stated coldly, staring at the sheets. “It was too low.”

Foxy rested his head on Pepper’s shoulder, providing some support. He didn’t know a lot about medical things, but he knew when Pepper was sad. He hated his brother being sad. 

The girl was nice to the clones, a sweet thing who didn’t deserve this. She wasn’t trained like the clones were. 

“Where’s Teles?” the General yelled, disturbing the patients still alive. 

The cathar stepped to the twins’ location, pausing and staring at the covered body. He shook with emotion, something that Jedi aren��t supposed to show. 

When Foxy turned to face the Jedi, he’d already grabbed Pepper, dragging him outside by the braid. 

“What the fuck is your problem?” Foxy yelled, grabbing the Jedi’s wrist. “Let him go!”

“He killed her!” the Jedi hissed, using the force to shove Foxy away. He threw the medic outside, seething. “You killed her!”

“I did what I could. That’s more than what you did,” CT-2002 yelled back, looking behind the cathar to see Foxy, relieved that his twin was alright. “She wasn’t even a teenager and you pulled her into the front lines. She died from your actions - all of us have suffered from your orders!”

Mozzarella and Springer exited the barracks with a few others, listening to the argument. The clones focused on the fight, failing to pay attention to their surroundings.

“I’ve done everything I could!”

“And we both failed. A whole lot more of us are going to be dead if we don’t leave this damned jungle!”

“We won’t abandon our post!”

“Then Teles died for nothing!”

Foxy started to panic, unsure of what to do. The Kaminoans never prepared them for this scenario, this wasn’t part of their training. Geonosia didn’t have this much tension.

He wasn’t this panicked since Padme Amidala fell from that cruiser. He wasn’t this scared since Locke died a week ago. 

His heart pounded against his chest when his twin was in the air, clutching at his throat. His twin is in danger, his best friend was being hurt by their own General.

Foxy never was one for self control. 

Without even realising he’d been holding his breath, Foxy had jumped the Cathar, causing them to drop Pepper. He held on, furious that the Jedi turned on not only his twin but their only remaining medic. 

The Cathar threw him off, Foxy’s back colliding with the muddy ground. Of course, it was only right for the rest of Clover Squad to attack.

Springer and Mozzarella pounced, jumping the Jedi to the ground. 

Master Laverna activated his lightsaber, cutting into Mozz’s chest. 

“Mozz!” Foxy shouted, horrified to see another batchmate die. 

Springer picked the knife from its holster and stuck it into the cathar’s shoulder, furious over his brother’s demise. 

Foxy tacked the Jedi while they were too distracted with Springer. With a snarl, Laverna lifted Foxy into the air, their first like a phantom hand over Foxy’s neck. With Springer alarmed, Laverna twisted the lightsaber into the abdomen. 

Pepper ripped the knife from the cathar’s back, aiming to stab their shoulder, freeing Foxy. Instead, the mud gave way. 

Laverna’s concentration fell when the knife was torn away, causing him to drop Foxy. As they fell, Foxy instinctively kicked, hitting Pepper’s arm.

The knife cut right through the cathar’s neck. 

In a moment, Foxy was on the ground. Shaking his head, he ran to his twin, hoping that he was ok.

The lightsaber had caught his lip, it’ll definitely scar over. 

Finally, with the fight over, the other clones started to come over to them.

His twin is still alive, that’s what mattered. Foxy assumed that the exhaustion finally kicked in, including the stress and heat. 

They killed a Jedi. They didn’t mean to, he was just trying to protect his brother. 

His dark eyes met the Captain’s, horrified.

“He was going to kill him,” Foxy mumbled, holding his twin to his chest. “We would’ve all died...”

“It was the heat,” Captain Impact stated, looking away from the trooper. “Prolonged heat exposure and dehydration can cause hallucinations. You did what was necessary for the whole platoon’s safety.”

It wasn’t the truth, though it wasn’t exactly a lie, either.

“You’ll be stripped of your position of ARC Trooper,” Mace Windu stated, looking down on the traumatised twins. “You’re being transferred to Clone Force 37. Hopefully, your new General will last longer than the others.”

They didn’t look at him, thinking over Mozzarella and Springer’s demise. 

A Besalisk and little Wookiee met with the Jedi, likely their new commanding officer. 

With his one job done, Mace Windu left, abandoning them to their new squad.

“Can I see your faces?” Master Bastet asked, kneeling to their level gently. 

Foxy and Pepper removed their helmets, Pepper with a new hairstyle and scar on his lip. 

“Aye, you’ve been through much. I promise you now, young ones, you’re safe now. Clone Force 37 is a family, one you’re very welcome to.”

The Wookie padawan handed something to Pepper, a little star that stuck to his fingers. His eyes was wide and amazed by the small thing, his mind blow. 

“It’s a sticker,” Freyja gurgled, only able to speak her native tongue. “Do you like it? I heard what happened and got one to make you feel better.”

“He loves it,” Foxy nodded, feeling a little better. “We’re not good soldiers, but we’re loyal. Aren’t we, Peps?”

“Not to mention stupid.”

“You’ll fit right in with the others. Jackal has been bouncing off the walls since he heard that we were getting new members,” Bastet smiled, already motherly to the pair. 

Maybe this’ll work out? So long as Foxy is with his twin, he’ll survive.

Not only what happened to their last Jedi and what happened to the other batchmates, but Pepper’s scar, too!

wait have you expressed your opinions on Infinite as a character yet??

ok so . i like infinite i love his design and his music and his voice and i wouldnt have a plushie of him if i didnt like him. but i really think he had a lot of wasted potential like his backstory is SO shit and in my opinon its mostly because they made shadow do something extremely ooc just to give infinite a tragic backstory

you dont even have to change the whole thing jusr changing a few details could make it so much better like making the jackal squads deaths an accident that shadow was somehow involved in but infinite still blamed him for it. or something like that

KNUCKLES!!! he’s a cranky loner with a loud voice and a bigger heart, plus he’s red. he checks just about every box i have for ‘favorite character qualities’. Tails is a close second, because he reminds me of myself when i was little.

Least Favorite character:

i guess Zavok, because he just doesn’t seem very interesting to me? i never played Lost World, but i don’t really see why he’s been in multiple games (and the comic) ever since.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon):

Knouge (she thinks he’s sweet), Sallicole (that one’s halfway canon and also LESBIANS), Sonadow (shadow fell first), Sonknux (knuckles has 1 braincell and its doing its best. sonic lost his braincell a while ago), Tangaze (Tangle has a crush the size of the Death Egg), and uhhh my OC Aria/Espio (cringe culture is dead. also they’re both bi)

Character I find most attractive:

EGGMAN ehhh i guess if i have to pick then idk Blaze maybe???? idk

Character I would marry:

marrying Blaze would give me the benefit of being married to a princess, but i can’t tolerate being close to the ocean for long amounts of time...

Character I would be best friends with:

Tails probably. i have a track record of making friends with kids (i don’t really understand how, but they’re cool) and we’d probably take turns blathering on about our interests

a random thought:

the members of the Jackal Squad were probably Infinite’s family, most likely his siblings, since they all have the same fur and eye color.

An unpopular opinion:

MOVIE SONIC IS ADORABLE AND LOOKS BETTER THAN A GOOD NUMBER OF POKEMON IN DETECTIVE PIKACHU AND YALL CAN MEET ME IN THE FUCKING PIT

Most Badass Character:

honestly? Amy Rose. i have a lot of respect for the feats of the Piko Piko hammer, AND she was the co-leader of the Resistance

Most Epic Villain:

Metal Sonic. he’s a murder-bot based off of Sonic so he’s cool by default, and his personality (even outside the OVA) is so cold but so badass

Pairing I am not a fan of:

pretty much anything with Silver. i HC that Silver is a decedent of Sonic, Shadow, and Amy’s, and i prefer his relationship with Blaze to be platonic. i don’t really dislike Silver ships, i’m just not really into them.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another):

everybody says Shadow and/or Tails (and i agree) so im gonna say Knuckles. yes, he’s gullible and can be clueless sometimes, but that’s not his entire personality. he’s stoic, he’s cool, he’s strong, when he gets angry it’s justified!! in past games, the writing tells us that he is smart, he’s just out of his element and naive about the world like 99% of the time. i think the writers started applying Boom!Knuckles’ personality and intelligence (which by itself was ok imo, but they could have just made a different character with how different he was to other versions of the character) onto Modern!Knuckles, and that’s when the shift got really obvious.

Favourite Friendship:

SONIC AND TAILS!! me and my brother used to be really close when we were little, and i see me and Max in those two.

Character I most identify with:

Tails, i suppose. related to the question above, i always felt like i was trying to catch up with my brother when we were little, and nowadays it’s more just us doing out own thing and me showing him complicated stuff relating to my interests that he doesn’t really get and forgetting he doesn’t know zoology technobable

Character I wish I could be:

ooooooooooo, that’s tough. abilities-wise Knuckles because come on punching through walls and treasure-hunting and burrowing and gliding is awesome, personality wise im gonna say... Eggman. confident, does whatever the hell he wants, always gets back up failure after failure, but still has fun with what he does!
