I love how creative the Rain World community can be with giving their own artistic flare to the characters while still making them recognizable, it's genuinely one of my favorite things about the community!

Shout out to designs that incorporate stuff like:

overseer highlight colors in iterators (cyan in pebbles, yellow in moon, ECT ECT)

giving Moon a lunar motif

making arti's scars look like explosions

making post collapse Moon desaturated and rusty!!! Same goes with Pebbles

purposed slugcats sharing markings/characteristics of the iterator who created them (spearmaster with eye stripes, Hunter with a diamond marking, ect ect), or giving them little clothes/ponchos based on their iterator

putting yellow on Survivor, or vice versa for Monk

slug mantles/slug tails/literally incorporating the slug aspect of slugcats more in any way

or on the opposite side of the spectrum, making scugs more catlike, warrior cats vibes /pos

gourmand designed after food in some way or another

Spearmaster/Saint being portrayed as slugcat body horror, uncanny and unnerving to their own kin

And the opposite! The more purposed/supernatural scugs being little creatures all the same!

making slugcats like INV and Nightcat anomalies/creatures that don't quite belong in their own world, like a living glitch

Sorry I just really wanted to gush about RW designs, genuinely I love how creative and wonderful the fandom can be by taking relatively simple designs and adding on their own interpretations and wonderful flare! It was an aspect I really love to see in places like the warrior cat fandom or such, and I'm so glad It carried over to the RW community :]

Hunter and Arti aren’t fighting anymore, and Saint is no longer panicking. The old one was getting really hard to look at bc old art makes me want to shrivel up and die, and the characters have grown since then so it was due for an update lol. The colours and designs have changed slightly, and I think the art is a lot better

I'm most proud of Hunter and the beautiful lighting I did on him. Like WOAH I can do this with watercolor??? But also Inv with absolutely cursed everything, my poor attempt at rainbow comic sans and messy line art? It was so nice to draw

How did Riv find out about Saint's third eye? Also I find it kind of wild how they think the colony would care about their 'unusual features' when Riv is literally some kind of salamander hybrid slugcat or something like that lmao (not that I blame Saint for it, given their anxiety) ... though hypnotizing their way into the colony on the otherhand...

The first question will be answered later, (I’m too lazy to draw rn sorry lol) but I’m gonna ramble about the second thing you said now! I love rambling ✨

They think that the colony would hate them for not looking like normal slugcats because of things like in these two examples (from an old comic featuring one of Inv’s flashbacks) that were said to them when they were younger.

In the comic (don’t go look at it the art is so old lol) Inv says that they’re going to run away and find a nice slugcat family to adopt them, and Bountiful’s response is to basically call them a freak. When the thought of being driven out or killed for their odd appearance doesn’t scare Inv enough, she turns to posing the question of if Inv will leave Saint alone with her (not safe) or take them out into a dangerous world that will hate them (also not safe). By making Inv think that running away will get Saint hurt just as much as leaving them unprotected with her would, she makes it so both Inv and Saint stay with her.

Of course, eventually they both ran away anyways, but the idea that they’ll be hated for their appearances is still firmly implanted in their heads. Despite the colony’s obvious diversity, they’re still scared that they’re too different.

But, they’re starting to grow away from that internalized idea of “we’re not normal (derogatory)” and are heading more in a “nobody’s normal (positive)” direction! Inv’s best friend, Riv, was the first to know about the siblings’ true appearances, and had the polar opposite reaction to what Bountiful had said would happen. Riv though that they both looked very cool, and was confused as to why they’d ever hide that. The siblings are starting to question what they were taught, but still think it’s too risky to be themselves.

The growth is visible in the banner change btw! In the current banner, Saint is wearing a bandanna instead of a hat. The bandanna shows a lot more of their face, but it still hides their third eye. Inv’s wearing their sunglasses on their forehead in the new banner, not covering their eyes. It isn’t that big of a change, but you can still see that they’re not hiding quite so much of themselves anymore. :3

(Inv doesn’t realize they were ever manipulated by Bountiful, by the way. They think that Bountiful was crazy manipulative with Saint, but never bothered with them. While it’s true that she manipulated Saint more, Inv wasn’t spared from her influence. It’s definitely something that will be part of their arc later, so I thought I’d throw this part of their character out there, since I’m not sure if people have picked up on it yet lmao)

anyone remember this moment from a flashback comic on the ask blog?

When Inv did what they felt they had to in order to protect Saint, and ended up forcing them to murder Sliver if Straw?

This comic has a lot of weight lore wise, so it’s rambling time!

Saint making the decision not to ascend Sliver, saying they’d rather face whatever Bountiful would do to them for disobeying her than take a life, was really big. Saint was standing their ground, something they almost never did. They stood by their refusal to kill Sliver, and were ready to accept the consequences.

But Inv wasn’t ready to see Saint accept the consequences. Inv ignored Saint completely, disregarding Saint’s autonomy for the sake of protecting them from the outcomes of their own decisions, regardless of what Saint determined was right for themself.

Inv decided that they knew better.

They possessed Saint, even though the last thing Saint said before Inv took control was begging them not to. They killed Sliver, using Saint to do so, since the ascension ability was required. But, because of how the possession works, Saint was still there. They were just forced to helplessly watch Sliver die to their own hands, as if they were the one to kill her. This seriously messed with their mental health. As I’ve said before, permanently taking a life is very damaging to a person’s psyche if they never wanted or intended to.

It’s hard to say if Inv made the right choice or not. Bountiful absolutely would have hurt Saint if they hadn’t killed Sliver, and probably pretty badly. But Inv, in trying to do what they thought was right, also hurt Saint. Not only did they give Saint some extra trauma, but they denied Saint one of their only attempts at making a choice for themself, controlling them just like Bountiful.
