my across the spiderverse thoughts!!!
i did a similar writeup for the first movie but i think i deleted the post. no worries, i think a lot of it is irrelevant now anyway.
anyway.
-movie was incredible. animation was 10/10, most impressive i’ve ever seen maybe? the intro scene with gwen and miguel and the ending sequence where miles is swinging home were my favorites. writing was like 9.5/10, it always nails the comedy in such a natural and unpretentious way which is so perfect for a spiderman movie
-you can really feel the love and passion put into this movie. its a real shame to hear about the crunch conditions the team was put under but its remarkable that the movie doesn’t feel particular anxious or resentful in the way other crunch projects tend to be. really such a loving attention to detail in spite of the shit management. actually kind of ironic.
-also the energy of this feels so incredibly different from the vibe of the firet i supposed there really has been a culture shift! everything these days is about determinism and multiverses is that any indication of where we’re heading?
-miguels little jingle is fantastic. i’m gonna remember that sound forever
-i thought trans gwen was a theory but to me it seemed explicitly canon. unfortunately i felt mostly confused whenever i saw the trans colors appear explicitly in a scene because i didn’t understand the double meaning? i only understood a lot of her scenes in a literal sense
-those action sequences, goddamn. you know i never watched korra but i watch the best fight compilations on youtube. i love animated fights.
-i didnt know you could curse in sony movies i was gasping everytime….
-meta-commentary 1: the “what was their canon event” meme makes no sense because in the movie it says everyone has the same canon event!!! like it varies depending on the context but its all fundamentally the same its like not funny to me to think about cat gwen stacy dying or smth. not funny to me
-i love how this movie doesn’t make unlikable characters. i can’t think of a single character i dislike in either of the movies? if i was the kind of person who used the term “comfort movie”, well…..
-meta-commentary 2: i did notice the “spider-team” of miles, gwen, pavitr, and hobie was only on scene for like. that one sequence. i’m sure they’ll come back but what i saw of the fandom reaction to it made me go in expecting a lot more from that. this happened to me with the last movie as well i feel very detatched from the wider fandom reaction to it? nothing against it but to me the movies dont feel like either A.) hanging around a universe or B.) making a story that needs to be dissected through long ass essays. which is what i’m always looking to get out of a fandom experience and i think are my perquisites for being interested in a fandom experience at all. obviously im still a huge FAN of the movies but i can never really take them outside of what they are if that makes sense. they start and end at the credits for me.
-having said that i loved spiderpunk!!! i know he was like total…. fanbait if that makes sense? i usually feel averse to characters im supposed to like or who feel engineered to be liked or who are known for getting fang1rls but god he was such a sweetheart. that diy watch. he reminds me of a friend i guess thats why im attatched. i like how nice he was to miles im just incredibly endeared to him.
-and having said that. my thirst rating is that i didnt think hobie or migel or the spot or anyone else were hot. something about the way faces are rendered is very interesting but i cant find it attractive at all. btw im someone who can be attracted to fictional characters easily and i wish jeff the killer was my boyfriend. anyway….
-my only criticisms would be that some of the emotional moments felt not exactly flat but noticeably offbeat at times and that the final 15-20 minutes kind of wore me thin. forgivable.
soooo great. i think im going to rewatch the first one soon but it might make me feel really raw. i think theyre both fairly sentimental movies but the first one makes me feel just a bit sorer because it feels so sunny. hard to explain. i really wish Peter B was in this movie more but i get why he wasnt.
anyway back to work

I saw that other anon's message. I wanted to clarify, I was referring to the S7 finale not the series finale. Like I said that itw was back in S7 and I felt like JP was referring to the S7 finale because I'm pretty sure at the time S8 hadn't been picked up yet so it wasn't a guarantee we were going to get another season. Also, with regards to the series finale. I'm just speculating but had it ended like it was originally planned with Damon dies Stefan lives (we can only guess how Defan would have been resolved) and Steroline leaving Mystic Falls to find gifted children to bring back to the school, I don't think there would have been a KC acknowledgement/fan baiting. Like you pointed out as well as JP in itw's, it was Kevin's decision to switch the death and kill off Stefan.
However, I think JP knew she could "bait" that fandom cuz they were one of the one's left she could. DE fans didn't have any incentive to watch TO's final season, she knew the SC fans were going to be pissed, the SE fans have been pissed off for years, the BE fans were pissed, BD fans were pissed, the Klayley fans have been pissed off for years, Klamille fans were pissed, the Haylijah fans were pissed, Marbekah and KC was about all she had left (besides the GA). And, at the end KC fans were pissed because Klaus died and KC never became a couple which was hilarious, it made my day!
Like kmze called it right from the get go, Candice's stint on TO was nothing but a rating's ploy so JP could get Legacies but what's so funny about that is TO's S5 avg ratings & total viewers dropped slightly from TO S4, TVD S8 had better avg rating's and more total viewers, Legacies S1 avg rating's was basically the same as TO and had more total viewers, so that ship being serviced one last time did nothing.
At the end of the day, I do wish Steroline would have got their much deserved happy ending but at least we won and got our endgame! Stefan's death was a tragedy, not an end to their love. "I will love you forever", "I will love her forever too", "We will see him again", she changed her last name officially to Forbes-Salvatore, she runs a school in Stefan's honor, she still wore her engagement ring and wedding band around her neck. We got 2 proposals, them living together, a marriage, tons of great quotes over the years, they'll never have anything close to that. Not to mention, Legacies further solidified who was the ultimate winner of Caroline's heart, SC's marriage was mentioned, we got that musical tribute, KC's reference in Legacies "Just some guy who had a crush on Mom"
Last, in a few itw's post Legacies series finale Candice talked about the school being a nice full circle story arc for Caroline and how it was rooted in her love for Stefan and how it was the mark she wanted to leave on the world for the person she loved!
And this is why it’s a bad idea to center the story around so many different love triangles.  It makes the fans divided, angry, and uninterested. When that happens, the writers are left baiting the audience into watching.
Like kmze called it right from the get go, Candice's stint on TO was nothing but a rating's ploy
Yeah, I think kmze is right on this point. Inserting Caroline into TO was fanservice/fanbait because (1) Caroline told Klaus she didn’t want to see him ever again and (2) their will-they-or-won’t-they conflict was resolved in 500 Years of Solitude.  Klaroline had closure. There wasn’t a story left to tell. Now, I’m not against fanservice (I quite enjoy it myself), but it can feel gratuitous or contrived when there isn’t a narrative reason. There wasn’t a narrative reason to bring Caroline into the originals when she hated Klaus and didn’t want anything to do with him.
Compare Candince’s stint on TO to George Clooney’s return to E.R. Doug and Carol were the IT couple on E.R. and their romance abruptly ended when Clooney left the show in season 5 (Doug is forced to leave for a controversial/illegal medical decision). Doug invites Carol to leave with him, but she decides to stay because that’s her life is in Chicago. However, it was later revealed that season that Carol was pregnant with Doug’s twins. Doug and Carol were still in love and now share children. Their story wasn’t over. So, when Juliana Margulies decided to leave the show in season 6 Carol had an epiphany: Doug was the love of her life and she wanted to be with him. So, she gets on a plane and is reunited with Doug. Having Clooney return for that single episode had a purpose beyond just fanservice. Clooney returned so that Doug and Carol could reunite.
At the end of the day, I do wish Steroline would have got their much deserved happy ending but at least we won and got our endgame! Stefan's death was a tragedy, not an end to their love. [ ] Legacies further solidified who was the ultimate winner of Caroline's heart, SC's marriage was mentioned, we got that musical tribute,
For sure.  Stefan is the love of Caroline’s life.

Awww! That’s sweet.

So why is Killing Stalking considered a BL (= Boys LOVE) when there is no love just ABUSE and SEVERE mental illnesses?? I think whoever put the BL and Yaoi tags is 1. fanbaiting, making it more popular (which not surprisingly worked because fujioshis/fundashis are so normalised with rape and abuse in general in this subgenere) or 2. stupid. These tags are making the comic lose it's meaning: to show how harmful rape and abuse is (that's what I heard). Many people say it's not romanticing abuse, but when the main tags are BL aka Boys LOVE and Yaoi... all the arguments fall. That's the truth despite anything the author wanted this comic to show.
And second, WHY people thought KS is like Yuri on Ice??? Are other YOI fans (I'm a fan, but not a really old one) this stupid or what? What opinions have YOI fans about KS now??

Hi! I swear i was crying in joy when i saw your account :'( I love all of your post about quell here aaa thank you very much for all of this post you made Orz I'm curious do you ship anyone in quell? X'D personally i shipped shu and eichi because they're the dad and mom after all lol
I don’t really ship anyone in QUELL tbh! Shu/Eichi is obviously what the writers are pushing for (and a part of me wishes that they wouldn’t resort to fanbait) but I see them as platonic BFFs. I know I’ve drawn art that leans towards Shu/Ei but it’s really just Shu being socially clueless….
If I had to pick a ship it’d probably be Ichiru–>Shu because of QUELL vol.2. I don’t ship them, for a few reasons (Ichiru being underage for one) but I find it really cute that Ichiru, in all his tsundere prickliness, is the one who is the most attached to Shu and cares for him so fiercely. Maybe they’ll progress into something more in a few years, but at the moment the family vibe is more charming and important than anything else for me. At the same time, I’m reading hints that Issei connects to Eichi more. In a “daughters are closer to their moms” kinda way, if that makes sense?
PLEASE listen to vol.2 if you haven’t, it’s such an important turning point for QUELL T_T

I mean, no matter how much I love Riverdale, I’m not surprised.
No matter how many things they did right with Season 1, it’s still a CW show. Wich explain a lot of today’s events and a lot season 2 (so far) to be honest. So I’m not shocked or upset because I had time to get my mind around it. I’m not done with the show but I am glad I put it on hold after season 1 because I was a bit scared by season 2. Now It’s definitely only on hold, I’m not done with the show and I’m sure I will still be addicted when I get back to it but even since season 2 finished and I started reading spoilers and watched the trailers for each week’s episode, and even before that, when the cast and the Rob and everyone involved with the show started fanbaiting and trying to get fans all worked up with their interviews and tweets,  I started feeling iffy about the show and I feel like I will have a love-hate relationship with the show for the rest of the season and the next seasons, like I did with most CW shows I’ve watched. This is not only related to Bughead but to the show on general.

An Episode I didn't Hate {TVD 8x13 Review}
You guys know the drill, I write everything in real time so if there’s something I got mistaken it will probably be made up for later on in the post. This will have anti-Damon, anti-Delena, anti-Steroline, anti-Bamon, anti-Bonenzo sentiments and may include mentions of misogynoir and other TV shows. If you do not like, you do not have to read. This was done on my phone so bear with me. You ready? OK. Let’s go. 1. Y’all are so mean. I titled my last review 8x13 review and tonight’s episode was the 13th episode and none of you told me. Petty. 2. The show was smart starting with Kai because I have such a huge ass grin on my face. I swear only Kai could make getting out of hell comedic. “No no, two beers, three burgers” I mean, does the show know that I have a thing for burgers? Like I literally go around my city trying to find the best cheeseburgers and that little tidbit is something I always put on dating profiles if I choose to go on tinder or something so like I’m not saying me and Kai belong together, I’m just saying there are certain compatibilities. 3. Also Matt’s hair in that bell scene was stupid af. 4. Those rings on Kai’s fingers though … omg I missed him. 5. I mean I would freak out if I couldn’t taste food either and probably kill the waiter too. But this just reminds me of The Black Pearl. 6. Alaric is actually pretty calm coming face to face with his fiancee’s murderer. 7. “I think I’m on the waitlist to heaven but they’re not returning my calls” aww, something funny for once. 8. I don’t know why Caroline couldn’t say this to Bonnie face to face? Like why does no one just GO to her. Leave a fucking casserole or basket of muffins on the doorstep, a letter, something. 9. So when a vampire turns human then their compulsion wears off of their victims? I mean I guess. 10. I don’t understand how Bonnie opened a door to hell but she has no magic. 11. OMG. Bonnie on the phone with Damon and Kai in the backseat mouthing “Let me say ‘hi’, let me say ‘hi’!” YAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I mean obviously it’s fanbaiting but I don’t give a shit, that was hilarious and adorable and so very Kai. 12. AND he drew a heart on a fogged up window. If I had access to gifs right now, tho. 13. But seriously, Damon legitimately called Bonnie because he needed something from her. Honestly, that’s like 80% of their relationship. And if I felt like he was lying about Kai so as to not worry her and let her grieve then I’d be like I guess but this just Damon being Damon. 14. Bonnie sensing Kai is awesome. 15. I like how we focus on the fallout of Stefan’s victims but with Damon, we focus on him being Damon and everything Dorian tells Stefan is fair but Damon never gets anyone to tell him that. Whatever. 16. “Better question, why are you still following him?” “DAMON!” LOL, this episode is ACTUALLY funny at times. Who wrote this? “Oh good, you roped Bonnie into this, I was HOPING you would maximize the collateral damage.” 17. I find it ironic that Damon is going after a sexual predator. 18. New to the gift? WHAT? 19. So Bonnie is learning from the devil. 20. Gorgeous close-up of Kat. 21. I just don’t believe BE enough for it to warrant her learning from the devil on how to contact him. Also please note every time I say devil it’s in quotations. 22. Cade is such a petty devil. It’s one soul. You have no other workers? 23. Why can’t Caroline compel Dorian to leave, call an ambulance and get them to where he is? 24. Oh look, it happened. 25. Good. 26. I feel like I should be moved by that SC scene. I mean I guess. 27. Seriously Chris looks really hot. 28. “I hate this already.” Lol Kai. 29. Damon your forgiveness means shit, get the fuck out of here. 30. Lol I love Stefan but this whole Dorian can either lock Stefan up in prison or work on building a better future aren’t mutually exclusive. He can do both. 31. Why are they acting like Caroline hasn’t killed a whole bunch of people? She killed 12 people ina single episode. 32. I actually liked the SC scene in the hospital because Candice actually showed emotion. They’ve become DE where I only believe them when they’re confronting the issues in their relationship. 33. I really can’t get into Bonenzo, like I can’t, I want to feel for them in this scene with the candles and the kissing and the reunion but it’s SO muted. 34. “I missed you girls so much” did you though? 35. That Calaric stare has so much chemistry compared to Steroline. 36. LOL this twin was literally going to set her sister on fire for hurting Caroline. Is it wrong that I find it hilarious? 37. I love it when Damon gets tricked because he always thinks he’s got the upper hand and he NEVER DOES. This was literally the best episode in two seasons. Because of Kai. And the writers clearly like writing for him because there were actual funny moments this episode and there was energy and a pace and things were more cohesive although the mythology around Bonnie and Cade still doesn’t make sense to me, I think that Stefan’s punishment and his inability to figure out who he is and what to do and meeting his ghosts and pasts was well done but it’s still irksome that Damon never really has to face any of that and Damon’s “let’s get Elena back” is like, I guess, sure, it’s only entertaining because it involves Kai.

auronlu replied to your post “So many FFVII feels. I played FFVII a bunch of times so I decided to...”
I am so glad somebody likes Dirge besides me. I could take or leave the Tsviets, but being able to muck around in that world more fully and, yes, discover a little more of the messed up shenanigans in Shinra Manor makes it all worthwhile. Reeve went from that annoying plush thing to problematic fave SO FAST (and I kept feeling like he was Vincent's Damsel in Distress in some missions). And Dirge helped me become much more fond of Yuffie as well. I just wish Tifa were in it more.
Annoying plush thing?!? You wound me!  ;DDDDD
hahahaha XDDDDDD
I’ve been a member of the Cait Sith defense squad for 20 years. Ain’t no stopping me now. But my reasons as to why are for another day. Parodical mole-to-turn coat hilarity. I could fanfic this for tens upon tens of thousands of words.
Gotta admit that the word “like” has never been part of my vocabulary, especially when speaking about media. ;)
I am amused by Dirge. It is fanbait slathered in velveeta. It is 9000% my daily recommended dietary guideline of Guilty Pleasure. omfg the DR4|\/|AZ. This is like a far better than a 300,000 word fanfic that parades Vincent around on the dramallama. it is sooooooooooooo fanbait hilarious. Fully and completely amused with Dirge from a troper standpoint. omg the tropes. THE TROPES.
Reeve as Vincent’s Damsel in Distress is so accurate. laughing so hard.
FWIW, I’m about ... 2/5s or maybe 1/2 of the way thru right now? Just after the point where Yuffie saves Vincent yet again.  (note: I have been vaguely spoiled on DoC for quite a few years so I am not avoiding spoilers -- actually, I don’t care at all if I get spoiled on plot points -- but I might not have fully fleshed out things to say for a little while).
I have had a huge soft spot for Yuffie in the original FFVII ever since I played it the first time around (1997-98). Actually, thinking back, FFVII is the only FF game where all of the recruitable characters were personal “faves.” Each of them grabbed me for different reasons and none left me with a bland feeling of “meh.”
Yuffie in Dirge is interesting. And Yuffie in Dirge has been explanatory! Whenever I briefly poked my head into FFVII fandom between 2007-present, I sometimes wondered how the Compilation of FFVII canon or fanon (or both) turned Yuffie and Yuffieships into the character whom I saw in fanart and tripped over in brief snippets of fanfic I tripped over. Now I get it.
As much as I love Tifa, I’m okay with her not having much of a role in Dirge in order to make room for other characters’ development. From what I can tell so far, Dirge is totally the optional characters’ Ascended Extra(s) game. But I sympathize with the desire for more Tifa because ... Tifa.
