Sunday reading recap (week of 4-Jun-2017)

After such a great weekend, this entire week went straight to shit. Alas. 

BUT 

there was a new KJ Charles release and let me tell you, it was absolutely the high point of my week. AND BLOODY BRILLIANT AND WONDERFUL and I don’t know how crazy skilled you have to be to write a character who is an utter asshole AND YET have me really, really caring about him.

Also on Friday afternoon, my work sent a communication saying that jeans would now be considered acceptable business casual attire every day and honestly it was the greatest day of my professional life since I got hired. I almost cried with joy. But it still wasn’t as good as that new KJ Charles book.

I Do, or Dye Trying (Curl Up & Dye Mysteries #4, Aimee Nicole Walker) - this was a very satisfactory end to Gabe & Josh’s story

Vodka & Handcuffs (Mary's Boys #2, Brandon Witt) - again, it’s the found family aspect of these books that keep me coming back.

Whiskey Business (States of Love novella, Avon Gale) - cute novella about a small-town bourbon maker & the corporate consultant who comes to determine if the distillery stays or goes. Fav quote:

"It had been a long time since that trip to Lexington, where he’d hooked up with a pretty boy in a club bathroom just because he’d looked like Draco Malfoy. Either that or he wore a Slytherin T-shirt and was blond. Close enough."

An Unnatural Vice (Sins of the Cities #2, KJ Charles) -- I literally cannot say enough good things about this book or these characters or this entire series. Or this author. She’s an autobuy and an immediate read. (Unless I’m doing that weird thing where I hoard all my best books).

A Better Man (The Men of Halfway House #1, Jaime Reese) - I’m doing a re-read of this series because it’s been a while and book 5 is relatively recently out.
