I didnt want to go to my family's christmas get-together in 2023 because my aunt had covid, and everyone treated me so weirdly about it and tried to convince me to go anyway and just wear a mask. I was like, "no??? she should literally be wearing a mask the whole time?? I know for a fact that she wont be masking and it wouldnt matter anyway because its at her house, and also she will be doing the cooking and i dont want potentially-contaminated food????"

My family legit even did a little bit of light gaslighting to try and convince me it would be fine, and i was like, "absolutely not, do not pull that nonsense, people are still dying of covid." I'm still fired up about this and their ridiculous behavior over a year later. If you have a deadly communicable disease, I reserve the right to not interact physically with you, and if that makes you mad then maybe you have a problem with boundaries and need to work on that.

I asked my mom not to visit me next Wednesday because she got diagnosed with covid on the 4th and passed it on to my stepdad. Like, yes. She won’t be contagious and he’s not coming but I’m immunocompromised and on heavy immune suppressants. But she’s really angry at me and treating me like I’m a paranoid asshole and actually getting very personal with the insults.
