Captain Marvel (1968) #7
#I /love/ the Kree side of this drama as depicted here#but the Earth side doesn’t work for me#much has been made of Carol’s dedication as the head of security#she’s the only that’s rightfully suspicious of ‘Dr. Lawson’#and her distrusting Lawson while trusting Captain Marvel-#who saved her life-#is a decent premise for an obstacle to the protagonist#but taking her trust in Marvel this far in order to also have her be a rival love interest doesn’t work#because as a dedicated and suspicious security officer#she shouldn’t be giving a classified document from the F.B.I. about an important scientist#to a superhero she doesn’t know anything about#and it seems this is bringing down the Kree half of this book as well unfortunately#because at the end of the issue- with no evidence that Mar-Vell didn’t kill an entire town of humans like he was ordered to#Una isn’t horrified by the immorality of that- as she should be-#instead she thinks ‘I risk losing him! For if he fails in his secret duty he faces court martial and possible death!#But if he succeeds in his Earth masquerade- I may lose him to that other woman!’#the idea that she trusts Mar-Vell so much that she (correctly) assumes he didn’t kill an entire town and somehow faked it is boring#marvel#mar vell#una#carol danvers#my posts#comic panels
